Ok so I was translating the Iliad for fun last night as one does and oh my god it’s them?? Genesis Rhapsodos is a homeric hero in this essay I will
“Sing to me, goddess, of the accursed wrath of Achilles son of Peleus, who caused countless pains for the Acheans, and sent forth many stout souls of heroes to Hades, and made them spoils to dogs and to every bird of prey, and the will of Zeus was accomplished, from when first the son of Atreus ruler of men and divine Achilles stood apart in strife.”
-Homer, Iliad, I.1-7 (translation is my own)
But like the more I think about it, the more it just…fits him perfectly? Strap in boys this turned into a long one, I’m putting my ‘useless’ degree to good use
So a huge drive for Homeric heroes is pursuit of kleos (κλέος, meaning glory), it’s what their societal values are built off of, and it’s what Genesis builds his life off of too. It’s why he can’t let himself coexist peacefully with Sephiroth—for Genesis’ glory to spread, it can’t be eclipsed by Sephiroth’s. Kleos is earned primarily through being remembered in song, and you don’t see Shinra making any propaganda with Genesis in it (at least disproportionately not as much as Sephiroth).
Tumblr media
And that’s another thing—Genesis’ desperate will to live. A big part of the appeal of kleos is that it grants you a sort of immortality, to live forever in the minds of humanity as long as the songs about you persist. There is a way to earn kleos without being the best hero around, and it’s to be killed by the best hero around—in passages where heroes go on killing rampages, there’s little catalogues of everyone they kill, like little graveyards of poetry that let them live on after death. It’s not a dishonor to them, rather the opposite since they died bravely fighting someone they just couldn’t beat.
This isn’t the way Genesis wants to earn his kleos, though, and he’s desperately afraid of it. We see in his reaction to degredation that he will do anything to avoid his own death, lashing out against everyone in pain and fear. He wants more than anything not to die, but he doesn’t want to end up a footnote in the rampage of someone greater. He wants Achilles’ fame, but fails to see that this fame was conditional upon his death. The most famous part of Achilles’ story that survived, after all, was his heel.
Tumblr media
And then there’s how his friends fit into the story. As you can see in the quote from earlier, Sephiroth fits well as the Agamemnon to Genesis’ Achilles. Agamemnon leads the assembled Greek forces because he has the most men, the most fame, but Achilles (putting aside the matter of whether he is or not) doesn’t want to be seen as inferior to him, and is infuriated when Agamemnon does something he sees as a slight against his kleos. From Genesis’ perspective, this fits Sephiroth exactly. From Sephiroth’s perspective, naturally this is not the case, but therein lies the problem—he’s in a different genre from Genesis, one that becomes incompatible when put in the context it’s in, and this dooms them to tragedy.
It’s a similar problem with Angeal. Honor and glory are similar enough to be the best of companions, but they are not the same thing, and it’s something that is easy to forget. The difference is most clear, again, in the context they’re in. Genesis is so busy chasing immortality in kleos that he forgets that honor is not immortality, and Angeal’s will to live fails when his honor does, and he loses him.
Angeal and Sephiroth are both their own genres, causing misunderstanding and ensuring the tragedy that occurs, but they fit in just enough with the context of Homeric heroes to not let Genesis see his mistake.
Tumblr media
Important for him also is the definition of monster to a Greek—two different creatures mashed together in a way nature isn’t supposed to go. That’s it. And by that definition, he is a monster, though we’d still call him human by our definition. And that’s just…ouch. In the fundamental rules of his world, he is inarguably a monster.
But the tragedy of that is that he’s just so painfully human, as are all Homeric heroes—so horribly, humanly flawed in such a loud way that the world cannot ignore it, and is pulled down with him.
Okayy wrapping it up with a few fun facts because this is turning into the essay I didn’t mean it to be, his last name Rhapsodos (Ῥαψῳδός) is a Greek word that translates roughly to bard, and specifically to a bard that recites epic poetry. Like the Iliad. It’s so unbelievably perfect for him, good job square enix! And the fact that this quote from the Iliad has goddess instead of Muse like the Odyssey, it was fated! Also, not that noun genders really mean anything, but the Greek noun genesis (γένεσις) is actually feminine, so win for genderqueer Genesis propaganda
Anyway where did my afternoon suddenly go, this was supposed to be a short fun thing, I should really be working on my thesis (which coincidentally was inspired by him, I’m in too deep send help) if you read all this I love you forever lol bye

your room was square
i once noticed from there
in your bed, as you slept
and i held my breath
everything had its own place
and i wondered what space would i take
in the order you kept
Tumblr media
#in this drawing i wanted to use the song ‘Square’ by Mitski#personally i feel like this song is about being in love and trying far too hard to be the perfect lover that you are incapable of being#to me it’s like trying to see where you fit in that person’s life and not knowing where you belong in it#but then you’re still longing for that feeling of belonging there with them#so you self-destructively go to great lengths to ‘earn’ your place with them#i feel that the self-destructive behavior of trying to be that perfect lover just to ‘earn’ their love#is exactly the ‘burning’ that Mitski describes#it hurts trying to fit in but not quite succeeding again and again and again...#this is something that i think i relate to#trying far too hard to belong with someone who is 'only sometimes madly in love with me'#and says that i 'wouldn't be their first choice'#-that person kept switching between wanting me as a friend and a lover and now i am neither#and yet therein lies the problem: if i cared less and gave less effort#perhaps we could’ve worked things out without me trying too hard to “earn” their love#but why would i ever try to care less?#the situation was doomed from the start and i lost a friend in the process#i made this illustration to reflect that the best i could. I think the square motif was particularly obvious—#the canvas itself is a square and the illustration itself has to fit in a square box#everything else i drew would have to fit within this box to maintain the “order”#the colors are all some type of blue with not too much contrast except for the text eyes and teardrop on the figure#i wanted to keep contrast low within this illustration— everything should be “fitting in" after all#for the figure itself i wanted it to be clear that the figure is being forced into that square#its body’s being forced into that half of the box and even then its head is forced downwards#it’s clearly not fitting comfortably but it’s sure trying its hardest to#also also also!!! i wanted to do more angular shapes with this drawing because square and whatever lol :P#i don’t think i was particularly obvious in communicating that in the drawing though#but anyways i just wanted to draw to help process something that happened to me a while back :0#i still think i love that person but just like how i don’t have a place in their life#i don’t think they have a place in mine and i think i’m starting to make peace with that :D#jaevyart

Alexia Putellas x Child!Reader
Jenni Hermoso x Child!Reader
Summary: Things get worse before they can get better
Tumblr media
Two days after you and Jaume are admitted into hospital, several different things happen.
One: Jenni's manager calls and tells her that she can only take a maximum of two more weeks leave and that she needs to return to Mexico within the month.
Two: Jaume gets much better, very quickly. He's practically good as new and he's allowed out of his room for short periods of time.
Three: The pottery place lets Alexia know that her mug and your train are ready so she goes to pick them up.
Four: She comes back with your ceramic train and drops it on the floor in horror when she sees you being intubated.
'She took a turn for the worse' they tell her. 'We've upped her medication and she should be fine in a few days', they say but all Alexia can think about is the shattered train on the floor and how tiny you look in your bed.
You're moved to the ICU and remain motionless and asleep for days on end. Therein lies the second problem.
The ICU nurses are stricter than the nurses in the peds wing. They say only the legal guardians can go into your room.
You have no father. You had no other mother either, not legally anyway.
You have just Alexia. Just Alexia who can sign off on treatment plans. Just Alexia who can sign you out and be given updates about your condition.
Just Alexia who can go and sit by your bedside and sob.
It was supposed to be a good day. Jaume was better. You were going to get your train.
It's all ruined now and all Alexia can do is sob.
Jenni sobs too.
She can't see you. She can't even enter the ICU. She can do nothing but loiter in the waiting room.
She had nowhere else to go.
Eli and Alba can go and see Jaume but Jenni has nothing to do with Jaume. She just has you.
You who is intubated and asleep in the ICU. You who she had pinned down and so cruelly not explained anything to. You who was still so small and scared and stuck in hospital while Jenni would have to return to Mexico very, very soon.
"How is she?"
Jenni's ex looks away. Alexia looks exhausted, worse than Jenni's ever seen her before. There are bags under her eyes. Her hair looks unbrushed. Her clothes are crumpled.
"The doctors are optimistic," Is Alexia's answer," They think she's fighting really well. They..." Alexia's throat bobs. "They think she'll be strong enough to come off it in a day or two."
"And she can have visitors again?"
"Maybe not as quickly," Alexia explains," I think we should be conservative. Maybe not even until she's fully healthy again. I think-"
"Alexia, I have to leave soon."
Alexia breaks off. "What?"
"Back to Mexico. I've delayed it as long as I can. By the end of the month, I need to be gone again."
"What are you talking about?" Alexia still can't wrap her mind around it. "Back to Mexico? Bambi's still sick."
"I know!" Jenni snaps. "I know, Alexia. And you need to make a decision."
"A decision? Jenni, what are you talking about?"
"You need to put someone else on her papers. You've seen those doctors. We don't get told anything. It's dangerous."
"Jenni-"
"What if Bambi breaks her arm? Me or Olga bring her to hospital and they can't do anything because we're not legal guardians. What would have happened if they couldn't get a hold of you after they intubated her? They can't change treatment plans without parental consent."
"I-"
Jenni sighs, long and drawn out. "I know you have a lot on your plate, Alexia. I know, I do but this is about Bambi and what she deserves and she deserves two people on that birth certificate."
Jenni doesn't say what she wants to say. She doesn't say that she desperately wants you as her own. She doesn't say that she thinks in the deepest, most malicious part of her brain that Alexia has already ruined whatever relationship you had beyond repair. She doesn't say that she thinks a new start in Mexico would be best for you.
She doesn't say that she's already looked at a ballet academy near her apartment and that her club has some of the best childcare options she's seen in a long time.
Jenni doesn't say anything more.
She just turns on her heel and walks out.
Out of Alexia's company, out of the waiting room, out of the hospital.
She doesn't say anything until she's in her car and sobbing into her steering wheel.
Her words float through Alexia's brain even as she sits in Jaume's room with him.
He looks much better than before. The rash is gone. He's moving around again.
The only evidence that he was ever sick at all is the IV still attached to his hand, feeding antibiotics into his body to make sure it's fully gone.
"Something funny, little man?" Alexia coos as he giggles uncontrollably," What so funny, huh? What so funny?" She bounces him gently at each word and Jaume giggles even more.
"The little man's happy he's getting out of here in a few days," Olga says, hooking her chin over Alexia's shoulder," Isn't that right, Jaume? Is that why you're so giggly today?"
Jaume giggle in answer, kicking his feet out.
"Look at these kicks," Alexia coos," My little footballer, huh? Are you going to captain Spain? I think you are!"
"Your Mama and sister went home," Olga says," They'll be here early tomorrow, like always."
"Jenni went as well."
Olga goes to sit in the chair next to Alexia's, frowning. "That's unlike her. I swear, I thought she was going to sneak into the ICU yesterday."
"She told me that she needs to go back to Mexico soon," Alexia says," She's delaying it for as long as possible."
"All for our Bambi?" Olga hums," She really loves her."
"Yeah," Alexia says," She does."
Alexia is in awe of Jenni sometimes. Jenni has always loved you, Alexia thinks. Jenni's always been a part of your life even when Alexia didn't have the energy to care for herself. Jenni had always been there.
Alexia doesn't think she'll ever understand just how much Jenni adores you. You make the planets spin for Jenni. You hang the stars and the moon and sometimes, like now, Alexia wonders if she'll ever be able to live up to that.
If she'll ever be able to give you the life you deserve.
She doesn't want to give you up. Selfishly, she wants a life where she can hold both you and Jaume in bed with her. She wants a life where she can go to Jaume's football matches and your ballet recitals. She wants a life where she can win a Champion's League and see you running onto the pitch to celebrate with her.
But she doesn't know if that's the life you want.
She doesn't know if that's the life you deserve, constantly being shepherded from one thing to another, constantly living in fear that you'll be left behind again.
Alexia knows a life with Jenni, where you're the centre of her world, would be good for you too. But, still, Alexia can't help but let her heart flutter at hearing Olga call you 'our Bambi'.
'Our Bambi'.
Hers and Alexia's.
If you went with Jenni then you would be just Jenni's, no matter if Alexia kept her name on your birth certificate. You would be half a world away. She would see you when Jenni returned for international duty. She would see you a few weeks every year and Alexia doesn't know how she could cope with that.
Alexia doesn't know how she would explain to Jaume about the sister he never sees.
Alexia is your mother and she needs to do what is best for you, despite how selfish she wants to be.
She needs to decide if she can still give you the best life possible or if letting Jenni raise you is truly what will give you the best chance possible.
"Ale?" Olga asks softly, shaking her," You're crying."
Alexia swipes the tears away. "I was just thinking about Bambi. I should probably get back to her. The doctors keep saying that she won't even notice but-"
"But you should still sit with her," Olga says," She deserves to have some company. Here." Olga reaches into her bag.
She pulls out your ceramic train, the one Alexia shattered on the floor after seeing you with a tube down your throat.
"It's still missing a few pieces," Olga explains," But I tried my best. I thought you could put it at her bedside."
Alexia takes it gently, cradling it in her hands. Olga's right. There's still little chips and Alexia can very clearly see where Olga has glued the broken pieces together.
It's still fractured and broken but it's perfect.
"I love you," Alexia chokes out," I love you."
"I love you too," Olga says," Just as I love our kids. Go, Ale. Sit with her. Me and the little man will be right here."
The sun glints on your ceramic train for nearly a week until you wake up.
The doctors keep you asleep until they're certain that the meningitis is gone.
Jaume gets to go home with Olga the day before you get woken up.
There's a crowd outside your room early the next day and Alexia is the only one allowed in.
"We've taken the tube out," The doctors explain," And she'll be coming out of the anaesthesia soon. She'll be a little disorientated and emotional but once she's up, give it an hour or two, we'll check her hearing and her strength and if it all goes well then she should be out of here by late afternoon."
"How likely is it that her hearing's being affected?"
"Meningitis is known to cause hearing loss but I'm optimistic. Despite what's happened, she's fought it every step of the way. There's a good chance she comes out of this without any lasting effects."
"And once she's up? I can let people in?"
The doctor glances over at the assembled crowd. "Only one or two in the room at a time. We don't want to overwhelm her."
"Thank you."
"I'll be back soon."
Alexia retakes her seat at your side, holding your hand gently in her own. Your little hands are perfect to hold in her own. You could probably hold just a finger and it would still be bigger than your whole hand.
"I love you," Alexia whispers as she presses a soft kiss to your forehead," I love you so, so much, Bambi. You're all better now. You just need to wake up."
You don't come to for another thirty minutes or so and, when you finally do, it's slowly.
"Mami," You say," My throat hurts."
Alexia can't help the worried laughter that bubbles out of her throat. It's half in relief and half in how disgruntled you look.
"Mami?"
"Here, Bambi," She says," Sit up. Let's have a little drink."
She holds the glass as you sip the water. You lean easily into the comfort Alexia's offering, your head resting on her shoulder
"Wha's goin' on, Mami?"
"You were sick," Alexia says," But you're better now and you get to leave if everything's okay."
Your brow wrinkles. "I..." Your eyes dart around and Alexia suddenly realises what the doctor meant by you being emotional. "I want Mama! Mama! Want-Want Mama!"
Tears spill down your cheeks and Alexia knows exactly who you want.
She shouldn't take it personally. She knows you're sad and overwhelmed and you're reaching out for comfort for the person that you can't see.
Alexia knows this is normal. She's been told this is normal and yet-
Alexia pushes away her feelings, tucking you into the blankets and pressing a kiss to your cheek that you clearly welcome. "I'll get you Jenni," She promises," Just give me a second."
She pokes her head out of the door.
"Jenni," Alexia says, voice emotionless," She needs you."
Jenni's looking more relieved than Alexia's ever seen her before as she rushes into the room.
"Mama," You say, brow wrinkled and looking up at her with wet, puppy dog eyes," You hurt me."
"I hurt you?" Jenni echoes as she takes Alexia's seat," When did I hurt you, Bambi?"
"When the bad man touched my back and you held my legs."
"I'm sorry, Bambi," Jenni says gently," That was wrong of me. I'm very, very sorry."
You're still confused. Your brain feels like it's full of cotton, all fuzzy and weird like that time the tv made that weird noise and went all staticky.
You lay back down. Your head bounces a little from the force you've thrown it back into your pillow with.
Everything's all jumbled and confused and you gently take Ma-Jenni's hand in your own. She's got big hands with fingers you can wrap your whole hand around and still have your hand be too small.
You know someone else like that, you think and your brain strains to think of who it is.
You get glimpses.
Big hands. A Barcelona kit. Gentle strokes down your back and kisses on your forehead when you're sad.
"Mami," You croak out even as Ma-Jenni climbs into bed with you and cradles you against her body.
Mami was with you earlier. You can remember that. You lift your head to see where she's gone but you can't see her anywhere.
"Mama," You say, tugging on Ma-Jenni's shirt as tears still drip down your cheeks," Mami's gone! Mami's gone again!"
You don't know that Alexia's crying too.
In the bathroom down the hall, staring at herself in the mirror and only seeing your own tearful face reflected back at her.

The S.I.M.P Gene
Pairing: Saiki Kusuo x Reader
Warning(s): Actually inheriting a dominant trait from his father righsldnsocsesssghhh~
A/N: Rewatching Saiki Kusuo with my sister and I don’t care about the risks, Kusuke is my husband. But this ain’t bout him.
Summary: Saiki is leagues away from resembling his father in any way, shape or form...Except...
——-
What a pain.
Of all the things to inherit from his father, why this? And why now?
He was having a hard enough time dealing with his classmates, you mean to tell me he had to worry about you, too?
No that he has any issue with you.
On the contrary, you were wonderful. Amazing, in fact.
He likes you.
And therein lies the problem.
Kusuo is very level-headed and he trusts his common sense.
Even though the world around him is… well… Not as level-headed and well-versed in the ways of common sense. 😅
So the realization that he is capable of having this… this unrestrained affection for you blindsided him.
Why is he doing your homework for you today when he is a firm believer in people taking responsibility for their own mistakes?! Oh well, it’s just this once.
He has no choice but to listen to other people’s problems, but why is he actively trying to help you with yours even though it’s going to be more trouble then he’s willing to deal with?! Oh well, it’s just this once. (It’s not)
Sigh. He can’t deny it. He likes you a little too much.
He likes how you aren’t afraid to say what’s on your mind, but at the same time you speak sense.
He likes that you have a good head on your shoulders. Every now and again you can’t help yourself with the Saiki gang, but the fact he can sometimes avoid being dragged into his classmates’ messes just by leaving with you whenever you don’t have time for it is quite refreshing.
He could actually trust you with knowing about his powers because you had a little secret of your own!
No, you weren’t a psychic too.
You had your own powers to keep under wraps.
He likes your laugh, unrestrained and full of feeling. It gets really embarrassing when you do it in public but when it’s just you and him, it’s fine if you let it rip!
——-
Can we talk about how he enjoys being seen with you by Teruhashi way more than he should?
Trying to ask him out in front of you as to intimidate and overshadow you, but at the same time she can’t let it look like a date because of appearances~
Kusuo is just done, and he’s not cool with Teruhashi snuffing you like that.
But you don’t even flinch. You were scared of no-one, and you better believe Saiki filled you in on what she was really like so you knew just how to deal with her.
“Hi Teruhashi, L/n here!” You wave your arm in a wide arc in front of Saiki, making your presence known.
“Given how nice you usually are, I’m sure you didn’t mean to pretend like I wasn’t here-“
‘She definitely did.’
‘Oh, I know.’
You slide over to Saiki, arms touching at the elbows. “-but Saiki’s taking me out this weekend…”
“Oh, r-really? If you don’t mind me asking, where are you going?”
At this, you waved her off. This girl really had it bad for Kusuo. Well, too bad, your plans come first. “It’s a secret~”
It drove PK’s perfect pretty girl nuts!
‘Seriously?! That girl’s been here a whole three months, there’s no way she hasn’t done some exploring on her own! She must be using her ‘new girl’ status to get close to Saiki! Saikiiiiii!!! You CAN’T think she’s prettier and more perfect than me, you just CAN’T!’
Kusuo didn’t know if he could say you were perfect, but he could say without hesitation he preferred looking at you over her. Also, considering that he liked you… a lot…
And he didn’t like Teruhashi… at all…
The comparison just couldn’t be made. Not without making a permanent enemy out of every man in the universe.
He was relieved that he didn’t have to go on another date with Teruhashi. He knew you were only baiting her because she had been rude, but he couldn’t ignore the pleasant humming his heart was doing when you revealed that you were also defending your plans together because you really wanted to spend time with him.
“Sorry, I may have made it seem like more than it was…”
‘No complaints here. I’d rather not go anywhere with her.’
——-
While he was alone one day, investigating these… *gulp* feelings… he ended up getting an unexpected unwanted phone call from his older brother.
At first, he was just gonna let the phone ring. He had more important things to worry about and his super villain brother was not one of them.
But Kusuo knew Kusuke wasn’t going to be snuffed that easily. He’d call the house phone next and his mother would make him talk to him or worse, he would show up in person.
He was better off taking this call and getting on with life.
And baybee! Somehow. Someway.
Kusuke called asking about you. 💀
Like, how sway? Kusuo didn’t say a thing about you, made certain not to alert his parents of your existence but he still found out!
“Silly, did you forget that I see everything? You’re slipping~”
Oh right. His brother spies on him whenever the mood strikes him.
Ugh. Pain.
Having his brother in his business was thee last thing he needed right now. But he may as well get a second opinion. So he spills a teensy bit of tea.
He admits his strong attraction to you, despite the two of you being just friends, and it’s not even in the way most high school boys are attracted to girls.
He suspects that, despite his better judgment, he might be letting you have your way a little too often, even when it doesn’t benefit him in the least to indulge you. To be fair, the amount wouldn’t look like much from a normal person’s perspective.
It’s just a huh-yuuuuge leap for Kusuo personally.
He doesn’t even pursue relationships, but you don’t push him to be one way or the other and it makes him want to reconsider.
And Kusuke, classic evil Kusuke, had to pipe up and say the worst thing ever.
“The answer is very simple, little bro. You’ve inherited dad’s simp gene, and the trait is surfacing for this L/n girl.”
……..The AUDACITY!
Kusuo hung up right in Kusuke’s face. He should have known better than to expect anything helpful from him. Not about this…
A simp, huh?
Laughable.
The idea was as impossible as it was ridiculous. Saiki Kusuo was many things. A simp he was not. He knew better than that.
And yet… The more he thought about it, the more similarities he found between the way his father talked about his mother and the way he felt about you.
He was not a simp, but every day spent with you, he felt as if he were slowly creeping towards something scarily close….
Ugh. NO!!!!
While most boys wanted to be just like their fathers, the thought that Kusuo actually might have inherited something, anything from his father, wasn’t a pleasant one.
And this was the worst possible trait he could have gotten. Well. Aside from the freaky skill of polishing $300 leather with one’s tongue but we’re not getting into that.
For a week straight Kusuo gave his father the cold shoulder. Every attempt at any father-son bonding was rebuffed and he refused to help him with his powers.
“I don’t get it Kusuo, why are you being like this! You’re even more surly and cold-hearted than usual!”
‘You cursed me with your incurable disease. I’ll never forgive you.’
“What are you talking about?!”
It took his mother, his grandmother, his friend group AND you to patch the bridge between the two of them.
Oh well, he’ll figure out how to deal with his feelings.
He’s Saiki Kusuo. Making the most messes was his unfortunate specialty.

Something has been bothering me for a while
I will block anyone who is rude to me about this.
I absolutely hate the tag "Bi people exist, but x isn't one of them," which always does the rounds during shipping debates.
The use of "exist" in the phrase "bi people exist but x isn't one of them" bothers me deeply. It's not merely the act of excluding someone from the bisexual identity that troubles me; it's the implication behind the word "exist." It insinuates that my bisexuality, and by extension, the bisexuality of others, is somehow up for debate—as if our identities are akin to mythical entities whose realities are questioned.
This phrase doesn't just undermine personal autonomy; it feels like a direct challenge to the legitimacy of bisexuality as a whole. It suggests that being bisexual requires some form of external validation (to know that it 'exists"), reinforcing harmful stereotypes that bisexuality is a phase or that those of us who identify this way are merely confused.
It suggests that bisexuality must adhere to specific, narrow criteria to be acknowledged as valid. This not only negates the fluidity and spectrum of bisexual identity but also disregards the diversity and richness of our experiences.
Additionally, such statements fail to recognise the vast diversity of experiences within the bisexual community. Bisexuality is unique to each individual, and insisting on a homogenised understanding of what it means to be bisexual overlooks this diversity.
Just say you don't think a character is Bi. There is no need to say 'yes bisexuals' exist, because you are (perhaps unwittingly) implying that there's a chance that we don't exist and therein lies the problem.
For extra example, nobody says, "Yes, Straight people exist, but x isn't one of them".

“We oughta call it a night.” Your voice rang out in the empty space of the precinct. It had to be bordering nine thirty and your body was begging for release from your hunched-over position, having been pouring over a surplus of articles for the past couple of hours. The slope of Rust’s shoulders jerked slightly as if forgetting where he was or that you had decided to hang back with him in the first place.
“Time is it?” He rumbled out, using the heel of his palm to rub at a tired eye.
“9:37. You good to drop me off still?” You replied after a quick glance at your wrist. Your truck was still in the shop but you couldn’t complain much if it meant being around Rust a little extra.
“Don’t worry about it. Sleep decides when it wants to find me. Even then it never really takes hold.” The casual admittance threaded with his perplexing way of describing what troubles him would never fail to bewilder you.
“Well…if you ain’t sleepin’ anytime soon could you be persuaded to stop for a drink on the way back? My treat.”
Rust had the humor to snort, a sharp and haughty sound, “If the company you keep makes a lady pay then they’re shit.”
“The company I keep mostly nowadays consists of Marty and the feral cat taking up residence in my yard every now and then.”
“Therein lies the problem.”
‘He likes to be spoiled. What can you do.” You shrugged playfully while beginning to gather your things.
“The cat or Marty?” That finally made you shoot out a laugh and he squashed down the distant desire to preen at your amusement.
Not fun outside of parties. Fuck you, Marty.
“We’ll grab a drink or two.” He relinquished. You pumped a fist in the air in a small celebration of victory with a hushed hiss of a ‘yes!’ The day was long and you could use a beer paired with the continued company of the wiry enigma.
As you mosied over to his truck and hopped in you batted your lashes in what dramatic fashion you could muster through your fatigue, “Free drinks and the voluntary companionship of Mr. Cohle? Gee, did I strike lucky-”
“I don't recall sayin' free.” He lit a cigarette with one hand and began to steer out of the lot with the other. It was concerning how such a mundane act could start to get you all hot and bothered.
“With you stickin' your nose in my business about what friends I do and don’t have they became free, I believe there was the implication of mighty disdain towards makin’ a lady pay.” A dainty finger wagged in his direction.
“I wasn’t aware I was in the presence of a lady-” The swat of your quick hand at his arm served as an interruption to his bullshitting. He was funny. When he wanted to be. Maybe not hardly ever but sometimes the mood struck whenever the stars decided to align just right. You thought it foolish to think the odds were specifically in your favor during moments like these but seeing him even a little bit at ease couldn’t hold you back from running right into the arms of said foolishness itself. Marty would dub you delusional. He could also kiss your ass.
Plain and simple.
“Because of your outright boorishness, I will be demanding some top-shelf finery tonight.” You half-sassed while he blew smoke from his sloped nose at your theatrics. The way you could go from suppressed and professional to the feisty spitfire sitting beside him now would soon throw him on his ass sooner than preferred. His liability to stop it was growing weaker with each car ride despite everything in his mind screaming to bring it to a severe halt. He wanted you far away from him but wanted you in constant proximity a hairsbreadth more.
“Low shelf. Maybe.”
“Top or bust. Consider it initiation as my new form of company. Just how it goes, friend.” You jokingly admonished and it was considered final.
Friend. He detested the warmth that took siege over his being.

You've Been Waiting So Long, I'm Here to Answer Your Call on Ao3 - Sneak Peek
When Emerie had opened Gwyn’s world to romance books, life was never the same again. A hunger she didn’t think she’d be able to feel again bubbled up inside her, and she needed a male to sate it.
But therein lies the problem. There was only one she wanted, and if he said no, she would literally die on the spot of embarrassment.
“Are you certain he’s not seeing anyone?” Gwyn whispered to Nesta during training.
Nesta shook her head. “He told Bryce ‘no’ when she asked if he had a partner, and I asked him again when she was asleep, and he confirmed it. He’s single.”
“Or lying… He probably has the most beautiful females in the Night Court chasing him, he’s going to laugh in my face.”
“He won’t, Gwyn. And you are smoking hot! I’m still devastated you’re not into females. I would have definitely bedded you,” Emerie reassured her with a leg squeeze.
Gwyn smiled with appreciation, “You mean that?”
Emerie nodded.
Gwyn squeezed her hand to thank her. If she was into females, Emerie would definitely be her type!
She was almost convinced… but the doubts were loud. “What would I even say to him?”
Nesta spoke in a light, singsong voice to try and imitate Gwyn, “Hi Az, I think you’re sooo handsome! Do you want to fuck me?”
Emerie burst out laughing as Gwyn smacked Nesta on the arm with a smile, “I don’t sound like that!”
“Yes, you do!” Emerie squeaked out between giggles.
"Is that what you said to Cassian?" Gwyn asked Nesta, her voice low so no one could hear them speaking.
Gwyn had never initiated contact with a male before. They were rarely allowed near the temple or nearby village, and the elder Sisters would ensure they stayed far away from the priestesses when granted permission to be in their vicinity. While her sister would often sneak out with others, Gwyn never summoned the courage to do so. Now, she deeply regrets that choice.
Nesta scoffed, “No! We were having a fight, and I kissed him to shut him up. Then things just kind of… escalated from there.” Emerie quipped nice and reached over Gwyn to high five her.
"Should I do that? Kiss him and see where it goes?" Gwyn asked tentatively. Maybe she didn’t need to ask him to sleep with her… she could just manoeuvre him to his bedroom if he was into it.
"Not the worst idea," Emerie agreed. "He stares at you all the time. I’m sure he would love for you to make the first move."
"He doesn’t stare at me," Gwyn huffed.
Emerie grabbed her face until she was looking up.
Sure enough, Azriel was watching them curiously from across the training ring. His cheeks tinged pink when her eyes caught his, and he looked away so fast she swore it would give him whiplash. His shadows danced and grew bigger, as if they were excited she was looking over at them.
She blushed, averting her own gaze. That didn’t mean anything.

A Lesson in Listening
Summary: Grian's brother is moving to town and staying with him while he house hunts. While introducing him to his friend, however, Jimmy and Tango seem to make quite a connection. Determined not to suffer through the pining, Grian and Impulse attempt to play matchmaker.
Ships: Grian & Impulse(Platonic), Jimmy/Tango (Romantic), ZITS (Platonic), Grian & Jimmy (Familial)
Warnings: mild acephobia, verbal fight, sibling bullying, misunderstandings, relationship meddling
If Grian was good at one thing, it was connecting people. Not to be a braggart, but he was a sociable sort who was good at reading people, made new friends with ease, and led the pecking order in his circles. It was his great talent, really. One of many.
“Humility not being among them, clearly.”
“Shush.” Grian hissed, whipping his head around to glare daggers into Impulse. The stout man returned it with his trademark innocent smile, as if Grian didn’t know what went on in the head behind it. “You’re distracting me.”
Impulse chuckled. “What’s there to distract from?”
“I’ll have you know mixing friend groups is a very delicate process!” Grian explained, holding his phone to show the opened notepad doc. “Inviting the wrong person could be the difference between success and disaster.”
“I think you’re overthinking things, G. Anyone who’d get along with you will probably get along with your brother.”
Therein lied the problem, though. Jimmy was nothing like Grian. Okay, well, nothing was a bit of a strong word. Jimmy was extroverted and sociable like Grian, and they both had a fondness for mischief and cats. And maybe Jimmy was the first person Grian always invited to karaoke night when he was in town, because no one else was quite as enthusiastic as they were. But other than that they were nothing alike! For one, unlike Grian, Jimmy was a massive loser.
“That’s a bit rude.”
Grian squawked. “Would you please stop reading my mind!”
“You should stop speaking your mind, then.” Impulse shrugged and returned to scrolling through his phone. Grian had assigned him the task of picking out the venue for the night out, being far more familiar with the town than Grian. He paused, “You might as well monologue, I know you want to.”
“I don’t monologue! I’m not Scar.” Another name was struck out on the list. Doc was angry at him right now, anyways. “I just want things to go well, can I not be excited that Tim is moving closer? I’ve barely got to see him more than once every other month for the past several years! By the way, we can’t-“
“Can’t eat red meat so make sure there’s other options, yeah, I know.” A large hand patted down on Grian’s head, ruffling his hair.
He pouted, falling back into the cushions of his couch. “I feel like you do not appreciate the skill needed to coordinate you people. It’s like herding cats, you know.”
“Why do you think we leave it to you?” Impulse leaned over Grian’s shoulder. “Who you got so far, anyways?”
“You, Scar, Gem, and Cleo. Mostly people he’s met before at least.”
A curious hum filled the air and Grian patiently waited for whatever idea was brewing in Impulse’s head. There were a few taps to his screen, then, “You think Tango can come?”
“Tango?” Grian’s eyebrow quirked up. “Isn’t he hauled up in his basement working on some game right now?” While most certainly a good friend, Tango was one Grian went almost just as long without seeing as his brother half a day’s drive away, despite being a street away. Once he had an idea he would dedicate himself to it until it was done.
Impulse sighed. “Yeah. Zed was able to get him outside for an hour last week, and he went on some business trip for a bit, but he also hasn’t eaten in like two days last I checked. It’d be good excuse to drag him out. He’s gonna forget what real people sound like outside his headphones if we don’t.”
“I honestly don’t know how he expects to survive if he moves out from you guys.”
“I already made him promise to give me a set of spare keys when he does.”
Grian tilted his head as he stared at his last message to the man in question. Something about a crazy idea for a remote-controlled cat toy he thought of. In all honesty it wasn’t the worst idea. Not the cat toy- Tango was a strong personality who left a big impression, but he was always polite. Certainly much more introverted than everyone else going, but not nearly as bad as Zed. At least, when he remembered to leave his basement. It couldn’t do them any harm. At the very worst he could sit in the corner and chatter with Impulse. “Yeah, sure, let’s invite him.” He said, already typing.
Impulse gave a thumbs up. “Tell him we’re gonna go to that barbeque place he loves, that’ll get him.”
“I said-”
“They have plenty of chicken and even vegetarian options, I double checked. It’s right across from the bowling alley, too. And call him, don’t text, or he’ll never see it.”
It was a small miracle Tango agreed to go. It was a small miracle he answered his phone at all. The mention of barbeque worked, though. How much of the rest of the evening they could convince him to stick around for had yet to be seen, but Grian was hopeful he’d stay a little while at least.
Impulse could deal with Tango, though. Right now, Grian had his hands full with Jimmy. They were running ten minutes behind because his poor little brother couldn’t bear going a day without a bubble bath. “C’mon, Tim, get in the car!” He shouted from the window.
Jimmy stumbled in, nearly dropping his phone between the seats in the process. “I’m hurrying, I’m hurrying, I just had to send a text. I thought this was supposed to be fun?” He whined. The second his door was closed Grian began driving, not waiting for him to get his seatbelt in. He was so tall and lanky he’d just smash his head through the glass whether he had one on or not, anyways.
“It’s called punctuality, Timmy. Something the hosts should have!”
“Alright, I get it.” He slumped back into his seat, caving as he always did. It must be hard, having an older brother who was always right. Of course, it was much harder being said brother, as Grian could attest.
The car ride was quiet, only the radio filling the space while Grian worked to remember where he needed to go. Jimmy was the first to break the silence, “So, I’ve scheduled some tours for this week.”
Grian hummed. “Anything promising?”
“Actually yeah.” He chirped, pulling out his phone. Before he could shove it in Grian’s face he put his hand up. It’d only been a month since he rear-ended a Toyota, and he’ll be damned if he hit someone else. The last thing his friends needed was to reignite the jokes about him being too short to see over the dashboard. Jimmy made a whine but didn’t try again. “There’s a place not far out of town in the farmlands. It’s small and old, but it’s an actual house with over half an acre.”
“I dunno why you care so much about land. A condo downtown is way better.”
“It’s nice, isn’t it? I could have a garden.”
“I guess.” The obnoxiously large sign for the barbeque glared high above the trees and buildings around it just up ahead. “Oh, we’re already here. Should be mostly people you met before, by the way.”
“That’s fine.”
Pulling into the parking lot, Grian could already see Impulse’s minivan and Cleo’s beat up old car. He clicked his tongue as he pulled up next to them. “See! I told you we were late, everyone’s already here.”
“Oh, come off it, they probably just got here, it’s fine.”
It was not fine, the host should always be first, but he wouldn’t expect Jimmy to understand. The two squabbled all the way inside, only stopping to tell the waiter their booking. A nice large table on the patio already had most of Grian’s friends sitting around, still having yet to be served even drinks. Everyone but Tango despite his phone, unmistakable with its Guy Fieri case, on the table. Bathroom, maybe? He was always terrible about going before he left. Scar was the first to spot them. “G! Timmy! You’re here!”
“That we are.” Grian mumbled and turned to Impulse. “Where’s-”
“Hey, Grian, just in time!” The scratchy voice of Tango shouted too-loudly behind them. He saw Jimmy jump, and both brothers swivelled on their heels. Tango jolted back a bit, friendly wave shrinking to his side at the reaction. His eyes grew wide, locking with Jimmy’s which mirrored him like two deer caught in headlights. “Oh!” He squeaked unintentionally.
It jogged Jimmy out of his fright enough to look away, though Grian took suspicious note of the redness of his ears. He gave his baby brother a raised eyebrow, but he didn’t seem to see it.
“Right, well, Tango, Cleo, this is my brother, Ti-”
“It’s Jimmy.” Jimmy jumped in at lightning speed, holding his hand out for Tango to shake with a wide smile. “The name’s Jimmy.” Tango hesitated for a second, before tentatively shaking back with an equally tentative smile.
“Tango, of the Tek variety. Nice to finally meet you.”
“I thought you said your brother was Tim?” Cleo asked.
Impulse scratched at his bread. “Honestly, I thought it was.”
“It’s not, my name’s Jimmy. Don’t trust anything this man says, he’s a menace.” Jimmy huffed, which got far too enthusiastic an agreement from nearly the whole table for Grian’s liking. Behind him, Tango snuck around back to the table. In a baffling move, as far as Grian was concerned, he paused at the empty chair across from his own and pulled it out. He nodded towards Jimmy, who muttered a sheepish thanks. Grian narrowed his eyes at the engineer, but he seemed to be pointedly not looking at him. A shared look from Impulse, though, let him know he wasn’t the only one who took notice.
“Well, then, Jimmy, it’s a pleasure to meet you.” Cleo reached over the table, offering their hand.
Chatter very quickly picked itself up once they were all sat down. Most was directed towards Jimmy, asking what he did and the places he was looking at and how on earth did he get his hair that perfect. It was a bit awkward with him sitting at the end. Given the middle seat where Grian now sat was also empty, he suspected Tango’s little gentleman’s stunt had messed up the seating arrangement Impulse intentionally left.
It wasn’t the last. When their drinks came Tango had ordered some crazy bright red fruity slushy monstrosity like he was on vacation or something. For him it might as well be. Something that brightly coloured, with a fruit skewer at that, was basically tempting the gods as far as Jimmy was concerned, who looked more dazzled by it than the already bright blue drink he ordered. Only a sip had been taken before Tango was nudging it towards him, asking, “Wanna try?” Which he wholeheartedly accepted.
Honestly, between that and the conversation somehow always managing to close into a back and forth between the pair, Grian wanted to gag. Did his brother have absolutely no shame? Or maybe Grian was just bitter he had to order something lighter as their driver. It was at least funny to watch Scar also ask for a sip and be completely ignored.
A large platter was ordered over individual meals. It was just easier, when everyone wanted to try this and that. Astonishingly, it was probably the first time Grian had witnessed Tango eat a vegetable, when he tried one of the skewers the brothers ordered on the side. That was the power of good barbeque, he supposed.
They finally called it after Gem won the third round of bowling in a row. Grian tapped against the open door of his car, glaring holes in the back of his brother’s head, who was too busy saying goodbye to Tango to notice. “Come ooon Tim!” He finally shouted after the third obnoxious little giggle they shared. When he turned, Grian narrowed his eyes. You ain’t subtle. The pair finally said goodbye for real, and Jimmy ran to get in the car before Grian decided to drive off without him. He’d barely gotten his seatbelt on before he was furiously typing something on his phone. Really?
“So, how was it?” Grian asked.
“It was fun, your friends seem cool.” Was the distracted response.
“Mhm…” He leaned closer over his shoulder. “And how was Tango?”
If it was possible to jump out of one’s skin then Jimmy had jumped out of his skin, muscles, and bones. “Huh?” He squeaked, face red and eyes bugged. Grian only returned it with an unimpressed eye roll.
“Oh please. You nearly dropped a bowling ball on your foot while swooning.”
“Well… He’s a cool guy, isn’t he?”
And that shut Grian up. More efficiently than he would like to admit. He expected Jimmy to deny it, or be too flustered to say much of anything. When Grian failed to reply Jimmy went back to his phone, tapping away with a smile. There was that obnoxious giggle again.
This was not one of the issues Grian anticipated having when his brother told him he was moving.
“So, how do we set them up?”
Impulse Hummed, spending far too long reading the contents of a can of cream of mushroom like it wasn’t the same can he always bought. “Who?”
“ Who? ” Grian mocked back. “Tim and Tango!”
“Do we need to?” Three more cans joined the first, before they moved on to the broths. Grian threw the bouillon in the cart before his companion could grab a carton that would languish in the back of his fridge. “They seem to be doing fine on their own.”
“No, trust me. I know Tim. He was literally living with his last boyfriend before he realized they were dating and that he liked him. He’s an idiot.”
“And Tango hasn’t exactly been leaving the basement much lately.” Impulse conceded, grabbing a carton of pho broth anyways. Acceptable, Grian supposed.
“So, then, any ideas?”
They paused before entering the next aisle. The larger man’s face twisted in thought. “Well, we could invite him to D&D, run a oneshot, and have their characters drink a love potion until they get the hint.”
“That sounds like a terrible idea, absolutely not.” He wrote it down in his phone for a future session.
“Another dinner?”
“What are the odds of getting Tango out of the house twice?”
“Probably a lot higher than you’d think with how they were acting.”
“What if I gave Timmy a tour of your house and just locked the basement door behind him?”
“You know I’m starting to think we might be bad at this and should leave it to someone else.”
“Nonsense!” Grian grabbed the first bottle of soya sauce he spotted, much to Impulse’s protests. He wasn’t going to sit and wait for him to match the prices to the ounces. “Look, I know Timmy best, and you know Tango best. Logically, there’s no better pair of heads to crack together for this. They’ll thank us at the wedding.”
A jar of pickled bamboo shoots found its way into the cart beside the biggest bag of basmati rice Impulse could pick up. He had to catch his breath before he continued. “Listen, Grian, do you need to… talk, or something?”
“What?” Grian’s head whipped around from the wall of spices he was mulling over. “About what?”
Impulse hunched his shoulders up, cringing slightly. “I dunno, y’know… You’re planning your brother’s wedding to your friend while picking out my groceries for me. I’m not even sure how you found out I was grocery shopping or found me in the store. I don’t think that’s normal, healthy person behaviour.”
“I am so completely normal and healthy!” He said just a bit too loud.
“You know you can talk to me if you need to.”
This was getting nowhere real fast. “Are you going to help me or not?”
Impulse sighed. “I’ll help.”
“Good. Then, what’s the plan?”
In the end, the plan was little more than ‘wait and see’ with a side sprinkling of putting the pair in as much direct contact as possible. This turned out to be much more work than they anticipated, however. Jimmy had always been a socialite, but he seemed to be gone every other day viewing houses or visiting locations. Meanwhile, Tango did as he does and made himself busy constantly. Every group activity Grian planned was lucky to get even one of them, and he was about to lose his damn mind.
Their big break finally showed itself one evening, when Jimmy dropped in with Grian. Well, it was more like Grian promised to drive him to do some errands and made a left turn away from the mall and directly to the ZITS house instead. A decision Jimmy was not familiar enough with the town yet to notice until it was too late. Just the sound of Jimmy’s voice managed to draw Tango upstairs to see what was going on in his kitchen, where the rest of them were chatting.
Immediately the annoying little giggles started up again. If there was one thing in this world that could make Grian try to keep them apart, it was that giggle.
“By the way, Jimmy,” Skizz piped up from where he leaned against the sink. “You still need a lift tomorrow?”
When had Jimmy found time to befriend Skizz? Who knows. Knowing the two of them they probably bumped into each other on the street and kept talking till the sun went down. Extroverts were so exhausting. (He ignored the little Impulse-ish voice nagging that Grian was also something of an extrovert.)
“Yeah, sorry, I appreciate it.”
“Where you going?” Impulse asked.
“Got another house tour.” Tango of all people replied. Maybe that wasn’t all that surprising, though, given the amount Grian has spotted Jimmy texting the past few days.
“Is that so? Will you be going with them?” Grian teased, but instead got a toothy grin back.
“Yessiree!”
Really? Inviting your crush house hunting? Was that forward or just weird? Either way, it was an opportunity. “You know, Tim, you haven’t invited me to go with you.” He whined, putting on his best puppy dog eyes.
Unfortunately, while Jimmy’s talents were sparse, this was one area where he outranked Grian by a factor of magnitudes and had unlocked absolute immunity, or something. “Yeah. That was on purpose.” He said bluntly, not even looking away from Tango, who laughed. In fact, everyone laughed. Even Impulse, the traitor.
Grian wouldn’t give up so easily, however. “Well I think you should. So where is it?”
“What? You’ll just embarrass me, I’m not telling you!” He squeaked, finally looking at his kind, sweet, dear older brother.
“Yes, you are!”
“No, I’m not!”
And that was how Jimmy ended up in a headlock on ZITS’s kitchen floor, Impulse reluctantly using Jimmy’s phone to text Grian the address on his calendar. Tango, simp that he was, managed to distract Grian by jokingly calling Jimmy honey, forcing Grian to let go in order to pretend to hurl, during which time Jimmy made his escape back to the car.
He won though, and the next day when Jimmy pulled up with Skizz and Tango to the house tour, Grian and Impulse were already waiting there with the realtor.
“I can’t believe you.” Jimmy dragged his hands down his face. “Don’t you have to, I don’t know, work?”
“Jokes on you, I’m my own boss.” Grian puffed up his chest.
Tango patted Jimmy on the back and turned the both of them towards the poor, confused realtor. “Let’s just get this over with.” He soothed, to which Jimmy gave him a saccharine smile.
The property was ridiculously nice. It wasn’t especially big, but it was lined by woodlands and already had a garden, albeit in need of some severe TLC. There was even an old chicken coop to the side of the house that only needed new fencing and cleaning. The house itself was a one-story cutesy cottage-like thing. It was older, but whomever had lived in it last had the wiring redone and appliances replaced. The bedroom was big, too, as they tended to be in these older houses, and the bathroom had a proper large tub. There was a spare office room with a nice big window to the garden. The garage was separate, and large enough to be a workshop. All that while being well within the range of good internet and still close enough one could walk to town if they really wanted to.
It was, essentially, Jimmy’s dream home. The only issue Jimmy seemed to have was the fact that the wall between the living room and kitchen had been knocked out for a more modern open concept design with the largest windows in the house.
“It’d probably be a pain to heat in winter, right?” He asked no one in particular.
Grian knew jack all about houses, and only shrugged. It still wasn’t that big, so he imagined not. Impulse and Skizz seemed to mull the idea over a little longer. Tango, though, saw an opportunity, and Grian had to give him credit because the man took it without hesitation. His arm was around Jimmy’s shoulder, toothy grin leaned in a bit too close. “Well, that sounds like a good excuse to cuddle up in bed all winter, hm?”
Jimmy’s cheeks turned pink. He muttered something under his breath that made Tango chuckle. Grian rolled his eyes towards Impulse, who seemed almost too shocked by his friend’s forwardness to notice.
More questions were asked, things Grian was glad he never had to worry about as a condo guy. Owning a home seemed like so much work, but Jimmy had lists upon lists. Of course, it was Jimmy, and even with lists he forgot certain things. But Tango seemed ready to pick up the slack with his own barrage of inquiries.
“I think,” Jimmy said, looking at the kitchen with a bit of awe. “I think this might be it, guys.”
“Yeah?” Tango’s eyes practically sparkled with excitement. Jimmy nodded.
The realtor stepped up. “There aren’t any other serious inquiries at the moment, I think you have a good chance if you put in the asking price.” Jimmy nodded, and the realtor went off to his car to make a call.
Grian pursed his lips at his brother, though. “Are you sure you can afford that? I know you’ve saved up and all, but it’s still a lot.”
Jimmy beamed though, clearly overwhelmed with excitement. “Of course, you think we would look at houses we can’t afford?”
“I mean if I’m honest kind of, but- wait. We?”
“I’ll have you know, despite the beliefs of certain individuals, my credit score’s top notch.” Tango patted his chest proudly. “And between the two of us we have more than enough savings for the down payment.”
Grian felt the wires in his brain short circuit and reboot. An unholy screech came from his throat. “What!”
Jimmy and Tango both side-eyed each other, their awkward smiles caught between guilty and like they were ready to burst out laughing. “You… Thought I could buy a home on my own?” Jimmy asked, hiccupping in the middle.
Impulse looked just as dumbfounded. “When did you work this out?” His voice came out hoarse.
It was Tango’s turn to be confused, raising an eyebrow. “Um, months ago? I told you, Impy.”
“You said you were thinking about moving out, not buying a house with a stranger!”
“Wait-” Skizz burst out laughing, pointing at Grian and Impulse. “You guys really didn’t know?”
“No, why do you know!”
“Cause I listen to my roommates?”
“Hold on. Months ago?” Grian pushed them out of the way, getting into his brother’s face.
It seemed Tango was no longer able to hold in his laughter, leaning on Jimmy for support while Jimmy rubbed the back of his neck. “I honestly couldn’t tell if you’d actually forgotten or if this was some bit.” He admitted.
“We’ve been together for almost three years.” Tango wheezed out between cackles.
“Excuse me?” Balked Grian. “Since when? You’ve never met!” His head whipped between the two. How on earth-
A finger twirled absently in the air as Jimmy tried to explain. “Do you remember your Halloween party? The one me and Joel attended, where Tango was dressed up as an imposter?”
“Yeah?” It was the biggest party he’d ever held, how could he forget? His brow creased. “But that doesn’t make any sense, I never got to introduce you two cause you both went… home… early.” Grian’s eyes went wide as the puzzle pieces clicked into place.
Tango leaned against Jimmy’s shoulder with a smirk. “There it is.”
“Oh. My god.”
“I told you he doesn’t ever listen to me.” Jimmy groaned.
“You two-”
“Yeah.”
Grian gasp cracked. “Jimmy you slut !”
“ Excuse me? ” Jimmy shouted back in equal amounts of disbelief and anger.
Out of the corner of his eye he saw the realtor pause in the entryway, then slowly back out of view once more.
“You heard me!”
“What do you think we did!”
“Well you weren’t enjoying my party, that’s for sure!”
“Okay, okay, everybody calm down.” Skizz stepped in, pushing Grian towards Impulse, who seemed to hold Grian back on instinct more than anything as he was still lost in shock.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Impulse asked, giving his housemate a look of betrayal. It was returned with concern.
“I did? I swear I did.”
“Dipple Dop, he told us he was busy in call with his partner all the time. He extended his work trips several times.”
“That was Timmy?” He stumbled back, leaning on the counter. “I thought he meant, like, an MMO buddy.”
“Yeah, and you certainly never told me!” Grian huffed, which Jimmy returned.
“I did tell you, but you didn’t listen! Or did you just do that thing like with Scott where you thought I wasn’t aware I was dating the guy I lived with for two months just because I told you we hadn’t-”
“You know what?” Skizz clapped his hands together. “I think we all need to just take a deep breath, okay? Everybody just breathe. In,” He took a deep breath, of which his housemates joined in while the brothers continued to glare at each other. “And out.” They all let out a long sigh.
A brief silence fell over the group, only interrupted by a nervous knock at the door. The realtor stuck his head in, eyes darting between the group. “Um, Mister Solidarity, Mister Tek, could I speak to you now?”
“Yes, one second.” Jimmy said, voice tight. The pair left to talk outside.
Grian and Impulse went home after that, waiting for the other three to return. They said little, Grian fuming while Impulse stared at his lap like his dog just died. Zed popped in to say he was going out, at which point he was let in on the day’s events and gave them both odd looks. Had they really been the only ones who didn’t know?
By the time everyone else arrived back at the house they’d pulled themselves together somewhat. Not entirely, but enough to ask questions without shouting.
“So, you’re really leaving?” Impulse asked, voice almost watery. Tango’s posture softened with his smile, and pulled the larger man into a big hug.
“Oh, buddy, I told you I was gonna. I’m a big boy now!”
“Yeah, but… I dunno. We’ve lived together since college. I didn’t think this would actually happen…”
Skizz rubbed his back. “Hey, he ain’t movin’ cross country, he’s just down the road. We’ll see him all the time.”
“Yeah! I promise, Impy, I ain’t going nowhere.”
The three continued to talk among each other, comforting their friend, so Grian left them be. Instead, he turned his attention onto Jimmy, who still looked huffy, with his arms crossed and a glare squarely on Grian.
“I told you.”
“Well, maybe you should have told me better.” Grian turned his nose up as an almost automatic response. Jimmy threw his arms in the air and stomped off to the doorway, and immediately Grian felt the regret. He chased after his little brother. “Wait, Tim. I’m…” A warbled wheeze escaped his throat, straining to get the dreaded word out. “Ssso-…rry... That I didn’t listen.”
The shift was near-instant, disdain laxing into smugness. “There, was that so hard?”
“Immensely.”
“Oh, come off it, you big baby.”
“I just don’t get it.” Grian grabbed his hair. “How did I miss that you two were dating? Why didn’t Tango say something when we invited him to dinner?”
“Well, it probably started with the fact that you introduce me to everyone as Tim and his boyfriend’s name is Jimmy.” He sneered, eyebrow raised.
Well, he had him there. Not that he would ever admit that to his brother’s face. “I still can’t believe you ditched my party to hook up with my friend.”
“Oh my god, we didn’t hook up!” Jimmy threw his head back. “We just went to get Mcdonald’s and watch movies because Tango almost had a panic attack at the number of people you invited and couldn’t breathe.”
“In my defence, I didn’t expect that many people to actually show up.”
“Either way, stop projecting.”
“Wh- excuse me?”
“Tango’s the same as me. I can assure you nothing like that would ever happen.”
Grian pouted. Well, at least they were happy and close by. “Fine, I’ll forgive you if you can get Tango to come to roller derby night.”
“Uh, I don’t have anything I need to be forgiven for, and I’m not going to make Tango do something he doesn’t want to do.”
“But Tim, consider: Tango falling on his butt in the most hideous disco suit.”
That gave Jimmy pause, thinking for a solid moment before a smile stretched behind his hand. “Alright, fine.”
“Yes!” Grian pumped his fist into the air, nearly smacking Impulse in the face as the group joined them.
“What’s going on out here?”
“Nothing.” Both brothers replied, matching smiles immediately getting them suspicious looks. Jimmy pushed past them to grab Tango’s hand and drag him towards the basement. “C’mon, we have to finish planning.”
“Yessir.” Tango saluted with a chuckle.
As they retreated, Grian shouted after them. “Oh, Tango!”
“Yeah?” Bless his soul, he was too busy giving his partner a doofy look that was wiped away the second he turned to see Grian. He did his best to bore a hole through the man’s skull.
“You better watch your back. I know where you sleep.”
“Well, I’d hope so.” Grian didn’t like that grin. “Be weird if you didn’t know where your brother was.”
And that was how Grian began to plan the death of Tango Tek.

I saw Elemental and while it was far better than it looked, I had some issues.
First off, fantasy racism is hard to do properly because most writers make the fatal error of making the oppressed people too powerful.
Like X men. Oh, it's a metaphor for racism against black people in America...except black people don't shoot fucking death killing laserbeams from their buttholes every time they take a fart.
Or say, Zootopia. A well meaning allegory, but it still implies people of color are actually a threat to the rest of the population???
Like I don't care if a "bunny can go savage."
You still present the oppressed race, of predators, as being scarier and bigger and more easily able to hurt others.
So Elemental had the same issues.
It basically said, well, the fire people are the last wave of immigrants. They are discriminated against the most because they are new. They speak another language and no one likes them because they burn things and they can hurt the rest of us, so we keep them in these segregated communities, that are more fire safe.
Now here's the issue with that, if you haven't already noticed...
Once again, we get a race of people who are a thinly veiled metaphor for immigrants...but the issue is...
The fire people ARE a legitimate threat to the earthy, leafy people. They can literally kill them. They literally burn off pieces of their bodies in the damn film.
Now technically the wind and water people are less in danger, but we literally see in the movie that the fire people are WAY more of a threat than any other people. The main character literally blows the fuck up.
She destroys several plot important things when she can't control her temper!!! She destroys her own father's shop. Several times.
It's implied that fire people can also EVAPORATE the water people too.
So therein lies the issue.
If we saw the water people being more destructive, I could forgive it! If we saw more equal distrust between all the people, then maybe I could buy it. There ARE hints that the wind people have an affinity for lightning, which you would think could be a destructive force too, just as much a threat to water! And water can douse fire, right? So that's also bad, and that at least has some basis in the film?
But the problem is that the larger society only sees fire as bad...and the metaphor doesn't come across, when you focus on just fire and show us the many, many bad things fire can and does do to the other elements.
Now here's the thing that really annoys me.
The racism/discrimination against immigrants metaphor was okay. It had some nuance, at least. I enjoyed some of the very thoughtful discussions of what it means to be a second generation immigrant and the stresses of trying to live up to your parents' expectations of you.
I actually enjoyed the romance too. They were oddly sweet, and the heroic sacrifice in the end was genuinely touching.
But the movie's racism metaphor was too strong, and it has bad implications, given how much of a threat all of the races are to each other, whether it's equally divided between them or not.
This is not at all applicable to real life. Our differences are not so fucking fundamental. They are cultural and only very, very slightly biological. Our DNA is not so fucking different that this metaphor works, at all.
These kind of movies make the unintentional point that races are cut and dry categories, and all we need to do is accept these alien creatures so different from us into our society.
This is not true.
Like what the fuck. This is so not true. Every single race on earth can and does reproduce with one another, plus we've all been intermixed since the beginning of fucking time.
So that metaphor just breaks itself, in my opinion.
Now here's my suggestion.
This movie should've been a metaphor for disability accomodations.
And hear me out, right?
The fire people CANNOT go to several places. Places entirely underwater, or partially submerged, places covered in foliage, where they might burn things. It is a central theme, that fire people are barred from certain places because they simply haven't bothered to make those places accessible to them.
See, that's a much more palatable and less problematic theme/metaphor to draw from!
The main character wants to see this plant that only grows underwater, but she's never gotten to see it because it's in this weird stadium that's underwater, and they simply haven't tried to make it accessible to fire people.
Plus, water people trains are constantly throwing water down on fire town, and water is a huge threat to fire people, and the whole city seems to run on water transport, and i think, but im not sure, it's stated that water people came first, and that's why elemental city is mostly catered to them?
But there's a great moral there!
There's no reason fire people can't be in certain public spaces! There should be laws forcing all earth spaces to have fire safe accommodations, like metal or clay flooring in all necessary areas!
That museum should've had some kind of tunnel for fire people to walk through!
It should be required for all public areas that there be metal or clay or glass crossing certain areas, so that fire people can still reasonably access everything that the other people can access!
Like ramps and elevator and railings, in real life!
And it's such a shame, because the protagonist has a talent for shaping glass. For making art.
It's implied she might end up working for her boyfriend's mom, who's an architect!!!
The protagonist should've been a fucking architect, who EXPLICITLY dedicates herself to making the rest of the city accessible to her own people!!! So they can get out of fire town and live amongst the rest of them!
At the end, it's implied more people are coming to fire town...but for no fucking reason. They just go there now.
But the protagonist, Ember, really needed to be a driving force.
She needed to be a metaphor for accessibility in public spaces, because that's a much better parallel than just racism itself.
If you toned down the "destructiveness" of fire and explained that fire people are unfairly excluded from public life simply because it's easier for the other people to ignore them and not care about their needs...then you have a far less problematic story, with a much more sensitive and interesting take on disability discrimination.
Ember needed to be an advocate, someone who tries to bring her people into the wider world, and not the wider people into her world.
There is NO reason fire people could not be allowed to participate in public life.
And there was no reason fire people had to be pitted so hard against every other race.
Elemental was a really fun movie, with beautiful animation and some very well thought out ideas for how the city worked.
But it failed as a racism/immigration allegory.
It could've been far more nuanced and complex, if it had bothered to talk more about how fire people need accomodations, rather than just, fire people hate everyone else, and everyone else hates fire people.

“Jasper…” You writhe a little, uncomfortable in the velvet chair.
Though… Not because of the chair.
A little remote sits on the table next to his place setting.
“Yeeeessss~ Pretty?” fingertips drum on his chin, maybe feigning some sort of innocence.
You can’t even muster the deadpanned look you wish you could give him as the little butterfly shaped thing vibrates inside your panties.
He bought you a dress before taking you to this fancy ass place.
The second problem therein lies.
The freakin’ dress is too short!
Your panties do NOT hide the toy, let alone your soaked slit.
In fact, they cling to everything.
“C’mon, Jasper…”
“What is it, pretty girl~” His smile is so chilling, you shiver even more intensely in your seat.
“Pleaeeeaaase, there are people all around.”
“Please what? I didn’t hear you, pretty…” He idly picks up the remote and pushes it.
His ankle is lazily crossed over his other knee. Lust fills his eyes, as he’s leaning back in his chair, observing you.
“Please… Tur-nnn i-it offf…” Your hands and legs shake as the heat inside you builds.
*Click* it stops abruptly.
“W—waaait…!” You exclaim, the sudden stop almost makes you feel like crying!
“What is it, pretty girrl? I thought you said, stop…” The grin on his stupidly hot face just widens.
“T-turn it back on…” You whisper breathlessly. Eyes darting around at the faces that could care less all around you. The thought that anyof them could turn and see everything kind of… Turns you on though…
“P-please…” Your legs spread a little wider and you move your hands to the table’s edge.
*Click* “Ah!!” you bite your lip as your pussy convulses, “mm” You force your legs to stay open.
He smirks, “Good girl.” He holds his phone under the table to record your bottom half.
You spread wider for him, face burning immensely as you turn your head and squint in embarrassment.
“Mmm, that’s my girl,” *Click* “Always so good f’me”
Your grip on the table shakes the wine and water glasses, you try to keep your knees apart, but it feels like gravity wants to force them together.
*Click*
“Haaaahhhh” the setting changes to some kind of rising, pulsing vibration that slows back down to an almost stop, then starts over. “Ooooohh nn-n”
You don’t even notice him stand and walk over to you, “C’mon, it’s time fr m’good girl t’get her reward” He grabs the faux fur coat and slings it with his index finger over his shoulder.
You’re barely hanging onto your threads of sanity as you approach orgasm, shuddering in your seat.
Wobbling, you manage to stand as he gently helps you up by your arm.
He enforces your pace, quickly leading you to the bathroom.
It’s honestly a nice bathroom, not that your surprised given the rest of the establishment.
He pats the empty counter space between two sinks, and then lifts you by your sides as you hop up at the same time.
“Jasperrrr,”
“Yes, pretty?”
“Please fff-fuck me, hard,” the things still vibrating on your clit. God, you can’t think straight.
Kicking off your heels, you bring up your legs and spread them as wide as possible.
“S’pretty” He says in awe. “I almost wanna snap a picture first…”
“Please, Jasper…” You move your panties to the side giving him a clear view of your hot, quivering hole.
“Fuck, pretty,” his tongue slowly rounds his lips, before he pulls up his bottom lip between his teeth.
Teasingly he stares at you while so agonizingly slowly opening his pants, and undoing his belt. The chains and keys on his wait jingle.
“Goddddd Hurry, pleeaaseee! I want you so ff-fucking b-bad,” You beg.
He finally gets that huge beautiful thing out, the tip and the piercing shining with his precum.
Now you’re licking your lips, “Oh, Jasper, Pleasee, put that inside me right fucking now, oh my god.”
“Since you asked so nicely, pretty girl, I won’t tease you anymore,” as he says that he slaps your thigh with his cock, getting a little jump out of you.
His lopsided smile is from ear to ear. You’d roll your eyes if you weren’t already brain dead, and thinking of nothing past his gorgeous, thick and veiny length.
You scooch closed trying to take it in yourself, he puts his hand over your mound and pushes the still vibrating toy harder against you.
Your body retreats back with a grunt.
But soon enough the tip touches you, opening you up further, you bite down almost puncturing your lip, brows knit furiously together.
He thrusts in, “F-fuck, Y/N, you’re s’tight,” he rolls his hips first, getting himself nice an wet by your own juices. “I can’t wait t’fill this pretty lil pussy”
“Please! Cum inside me, I wan’it s’ bad, Jasper!”
His hand finds your mouth so you can bite it. You do. Hard.
“Wan’ me to make ya a mama that bad?”
Lost in the moment, as he starts thrusting into you, you open your mouth to say, “Yes! Please!!! I wanna have your babies, Jasper!! Fuck em into me!” he slides his hand down to your throat, holding you in place by it.
“Yeah? You wan’that, pretty?” His thrusts already started off erratic, you can tell that this whole time his arousal was building as much as yours.
He slams harder and harder into you, if you weren’t shoulders against a mirror and holding onto his own for purchase, you’d surly be forced annoyingly away.
“Ah! ff-fuck! Are you ready, pretty?” He asks while speeding up.
“Yes!! Fill me! Fill me up, Jasper!”
He does, white coats your insides and the second you feel that hot thickness filling you so perfectly in harsh bursts, you cum as well. Your walls convulse hard and tighten around him, so he can’t escape.
You wrap your legs around him, keeping him locked from the outside as well.
You’re both panting, your head back against the cold mirror uncomfortably, and his forward, black hair blocking his face from view.
He wraps his arms around you and kisses your neck.
You aren’t letting go and he says, “You really do wan’me t’make ya a mama, huh,” his dick twitches inside you. “Don’t think I ever wanted little ones till I found you… Now I just, wanna fill you… I wanna come home to them running around… like a real person would.” that last part comes out quietly.
“You are a real person, Jasper.”
He laughs bitterly, it makes your heart hurt.
“As long as I am to you, pretty”
You let him pull out, and some of his cum follows, “Oh no, can’t have that can we~” His sing songy voice is back in an instant.
He brings two of his fingers to your dripping cunt, collecting all of his essence that escaped.
“I’m gon’have ta fuck this back into ya, huh? don’t wanna waste any… Now that we’re tryin’”
“What?” You’re thinking clearer in the post absolute bliss, though the thing on you is still freaking vibrating, it’s overwhelming you, but your thoughts still manage to come through.
Are you even ready for kids?!
“W-wait! Jasper!” You try and back up now, but he’s miles away in a different realm. “Haaah!” His fingers curl, and he presses his other hand over the vibrator. He starts rubbing it onto you in a circular motion.
It was already too much, and now your body is shaking like the very earth is breaking open beneath you.
The precipice grows beneath you.
His fingers pump his own cum back into you with more vigor as you get closer to the edge.
“You’re s’pretty, Y/N…” It comes out a whisper.
You come undone again, somehow harder this time. You get your juices all over the counter. he thankfully rips the thing off you in the same moment, so you don’t get overstimulated.
It moves around the floor as it vibrates.
Lips collide perfectly with yours, his snake bites tickle your chin a little. You giggle into him, as his hand comes up to your cheek, and his tongue enters your mouth.
You sigh, he always makes sure the comedown is pleasant and intimate. You forget everything else in the world again, and hug his body.

The Last Dance
— (Cullen & Ellana)
.
He found her on the balcony.
Ellana was positioned by the balustrade of the Empress' terrace, facing away from him. She stood tall and proud, her gloved hands clasped loosely behind her back, and there was no evidence of the tension that had stiffened her broad shoulders throughout the evening. She was still, unnervingly so, and it was impossible to tell what she could be thinking from her posture alone. That was typical of the Inquisitor, however, so Cullen did not think on it too deeply as he approached.
"There you are," he said, hoping that his tone was more casual than he felt. "The others were beginning to miss your presence."
"They are celebrating," Ellana responded, her low voice washing over him in a cool waterfall. Her gaze remained steadily on the far-off horizon, even as he arrived at her side. "I did not want to disrupt that."
Their shoulders brushed slightly as she leaned in Cullen's direction, and he smiled down at his gloved hands. "They are celebrating you, you know. The things you have achieved tonight are extraordinary."
It was true. He thought of the way they had all watched, frozen, as their Inquisitor wrangled three political giants into complete and utter submission with nothing but a cunning smile and an iron fist. In that moment he had been furious at her for working off of a plan that he had had no previous knowledge of, terrified that it would fail... and proud when it didn't. So proud. Because despite how much he utterly loathed The Game and nobility and all of that rot, he could not deny that Ellana handled the evening masterfully despite possessing so little experience in court. She was a natural, and it had been a moment of triumph when she had emerged from that web of schemes unscathed and victorious.
"This victory is not mine alone," Ellana responded, and it could have been interpreted as deflective modesty had she not said it so matter-of-factly. "Te'lise deserves such a celebration far more than I do. Tonight's outcome would have been impossible without the information she gathered."
"I have no doubt she is celebrating as we speak." Cullen said, thinking of how he had seen Solas and Te'lise slip out onto a private balcony of their own when he was still in search of Ellana.
Ellana finally looked at him then. Her blue eyes were unfathomable and impossibly dark in the moonlight. "And you?"
"What of me?"
“Are you celebrating?" Ellana clarified. "I know tonight has been difficult for you."
Cullen grimaced. Unwelcome, grabbing hands appeared in his mind's eye for a brief moment, followed by a cacophony of coquettish laughter. "I would rather leave the... unnecessary... events of the night in the past."
"I should have killed them for daring to lay their hands on you," Ellana said very quietly. She had gone stiff, and Cullen wondered if her clasped hands were now clenched into trembling fists behind her back. She was a master of restraint, but he knew that such restraint had limits, no matter how carefully cultivated it was.
Cullen leaned into her, resting his hand on her lower back. "You frightened them off well enough, I'd think. The noblewoman you were whispering to looked ready to faint dead away."
"I should have liked to see the spectacle that would have made," Ellana responded viciously, and that startled a chuckle out of him, low and warm.
"I wasn't celebrating before," Cullen said after a moment of silence. "It didn't feel right to, given the circumstances."
"Yes," Ellana sighed out. "Therein lies the problem." She leaned forward, bracing her hands on the balustrade and splaying her gloved fingers against the marble. Such long, nimble fingers, Cullen noticed distractedly. "Tonight struck a blow against Corypheus. I cannot imagine relaxing in any capacity when I am certain he is plotting his revenge as we speak." Her dark lips tilted upwards at the corners. "He must be furious, the sorry bastard."
Cullen smiled crookedly, despite himself. "I believe you are the only person in Thedas who dares to speak of him so fearlessly."
"To speak with fear, one must be afraid. I am not afraid of Corypheus." She straightened and turned towards him fully. Cullen was startled by the sudden change in her demeanour - her eyes were glittering, and there was a cocky set to her broad shoulders and full hips that made his head swim dizzily for a brief moment. "Did you hear that?"
"Hear what?" Cullen said distantly.
"The band inside just finished a set. If Josephine's lessons are anything to go by, they will be performing the last one momentarily." She extended a gloved hand to him, her silver sleeve catching the moonlight and setting it aglow. "Dance with me, Cullen."
"I don't dance," he croaked reflexively, and inwardly cursed himself for it.
Ellana did not react to this with icy acceptance as she had earlier when he had made that same blunder. Instead, she wiggled her fingers with something akin to - playfulness?
"You don't mean that," she said with confidence. "You only don't dance when the proposal is unwelcome."
Cullen smiled helplessly. "You know me too well." He rested his hand in hers, and sucked in a sharp breath when in one swift movement, Ellana had an arm around his waist and was tugging him close. He stared down at her in wide-eyed bemusement. "I- what?"
"If I recall, you said people were celebrating me," Ellana said. "Thus, I will lead." And Maker, sweet Maker, was that a smile dancing across her face? It was beautiful in its expressive sincerity, and so rare of a sight to witness that Cullen held his breath in fear of scaring it away.
Cullen forgot the embarrassment he felt at being held in such a way, he forgot the stress and exhaustion and residual anxiety that had plagued him throughout the evening, he forgot the Inquisition and the war and the looming threat that was Corypheus - he forgot it all in the wake of the quiet, breathtaking joy that glowed in Ellana's lovely uplifted face.
"Then I will follow," Cullen found himself saying in response, and the double meaning to those words were not lost on them both. Ellana's hand tightened on his, and then they were dancing, and they did not stop until the next person came to find them, long after the moon had journeyed to its peak in the vast expanse of the night sky.

6, 8, 15 for lawlight pleaseee!
🖤🤍
6. How do they make up/apologize after an argument?
Well, I'm certain that neither of them apologize, at least not verbally; they're both too prideful for it. I think that L makes up by giving gifts (read: bribes) when Light is angry with him, but that rarely works so he has to resort to making Light feel powerful in some way. Whether that's through revealing a secret/weakness or simply letting him top, that's up to you :3
Light is....more complicated, because while getting L to admit he's wrong is like pulling teeth, Light won't admit he's wrong at all. He's kind of incapable of it when it's something he gives a shit about. But, then, he kinda gives a lot of shits about L himself, so therein lies the problem. On smaller matters, Light can begrudgingly take 'defeat' and admit that L was right but not that he was wrong, but for everything else.... Yeah, the most you're getting out of him is a roundabout concession over something else that is far less important but still somehow ties back to the thing they were arguing about.
But L loves his prideful little monster, so he knows what to expect in the end really lmao
8. What do they love most about the other? Why?
For ME personally, L loves that Light is fucking insane. He's seen people like that before, of course, but they've never been on his level, never truly come to KNOW him like Light has, never mirrored him so exactly in intelligence and ruthlessness. Never gave him so much fun. Granted, Light's flavor of haughty insanity isn't what made L fall in love with him, but it is the biggest reason he loves him 🥰
For Light, he loves how much of a challenge L is. He never gives Light an inch, and if he does it's only to further his own goals and agenda. He's able to see through Light's lies and politeness down to the monster beneath—L is the only one who ever truly sees him. And Light can't help but love and hate him for it. But mostly love ;3
15. What songs remind you of their relationship?
I actually don't have that many for them, surprisingly! And what I do have is fairly generic, but I'll try and find some of my gems for you! :D
↑ Obligatory Junie & The Hut Friends song because I have to have at least one in every playlist and this one just fits the lawlight vibe ✨
↑ A bit of a classic one for me, again. If they beat the fuck out of each other regularly then this is my go-to song :3
↑ This one is Light to me 😌 Light descending into madness because he's realized his feelings for L and is disgusted with himself and listing all the things he hates about L, berating himself for falling in the first place all while the derangement takes over as he realizes he still has to kill him 💅✨
↑ IT'S T H E M YOUR HONOR LIKE PLZZZZZZ UNDERSTAND THIS IS THEM TO A T I CAN'T TELL YOU YOU JUST HAVE TO LISTEN 🙏🙏🙏
↑ I'm so sorry, I'm not usually a k-pop groupie but my little sisters were watching the music video for this one and it just SCREAMS lawlight I don't know how else to explain it 😭
↑ Me when L singing to Light. When L singing to Light before and after his death. wHEN NOW I'M IN YOUR HEAD AND THE RENT IS DUE—
↑ Same as above but reversed POV 🙏 Light can't get him out L is in him forever now 😌
↑ 🫣🫣🫣😳😳😳🫣 This one's pretty self-explanatory once you listen to it....
↑ Again, self-explanatory, but also Light. Light-coded. For obvious reasons. But yes ✨
....Okay maybe I lied a little on accident I had more than I thought 😅
