Lena forgets how easily it is to fall for Andrea. Slowly at first... And then so, so fast. And Kara can only watch, while Lena is swept off her feet

It starts with sex.

Plain, old boring sex.

Well, not boring per se. They’ve spent their teenage years perfecting the art of making love to each other, and Andrea’s lost none of her touch.

But if Andrea thinks for one moment that it means she’ll get an ounce of Lena’s heart, she’s sorely mistaken.

Except Andrea doesn’t seem to get the memo. For Andrea, it means dropping off her specialty Argentinian coffee on her way to Obsidian– which Lena has no control over, and thereby has no other choice but to drink it– and invites to dinner that Lena can control and promptly declines. She isn’t interested in rekindling their relationship past their occasional romp in the sheets.

Every so often– by which Lena means every damn time– they end up at the same events, meetings,and galas. And every time, Andrea has a knack for catching Lena’s eye with a warm smile and a small tilt of her glass. As though she doesn’t comprehend that what they have is not a relationship– it’s not even friendship. It’s just pure physical contact with a favorable outcome. That’s it.

Until the inevitable moment that some idiots get it into their thick skulls to attack an otherwise mind numbingly boring event filled with the richest business men and women in National City.

The masked group all fire a spray of bullets towards the ceiling, prompting a shower of sparks and debris to fall as patrons scream.

“On the ground!”

Lena bites down a scoff. In this dress? Not likely. Soon, she’s the lone figure left standing as the rest of the guests obey. This, of course, results in an assault rifle being pointed at her chest by the nearest goon.

Her heart rate picks up– the one tell of her nerves that has yet to fade, no matter how many violent events she survives. But her gaze remains steady as she meets the man’s eyes through the mask.

“You stupid or something?” he barks. “I said on the floor!”

Lena ignores the command. “So what is it this time? Theft or hostages?” She arches an eyebrow. “Or have you thought you’d be original and go for a two-fer?”

“Shut the fuck up!” he shouts, hitching his rifle higher on his shoulder. It’s clear to Lena that he’s unused to the weight and unfamiliar with how to use it aside from pulling the trigger. If he’d been a professional, the buttstock would be firmly in the pocket of his shoulder.

“First time?” she asks. All she needs to do, she knows, is stall. If she can keep the rest of them from getting shot until Supergirl arrives, the hero would take care of the rest.

Not that she’s looking forward to seeing the facade of her ex-best friend tonight. God no.

“Your men should be at the exits, dipshit,” she continues, neglecting to mention the glass skylights overhead that Supergirl would likely use as her point of ingress. “And if you need a hostage, all you need is me. Let the others go.”

“And why would I do that?”

“Because I’m worth more than all of them combined.” Lena smirks. “Not to mention–”

“It’ll look good at your sentencing,” a familiar voice cuts in. Lena startles, not at all expecting Andrea to appear at her side. Andrea holds the guy firm in her gaze. At his angry glare, visible even through the mask, Andrea shrugs. “Did you really expect to point a gun at Lena Luthor and not expect Supergirl to show up?”

Lena barely keeps the scowl from her face. She only just manages to keep her gaze lofty as Andrea continues, coming to a stop at her side.

“In fact, I’d expect her to arrive any min–”

She’s cut off by a cacophonous shatter of screams and glass shattering overhead. Before the man has a chance to call out a warning to his crew, he and the rest of them are disarmed in a blur. The crowd still on the floor gasps at the display of super speed, but Lena remains unfazed. She’s more concerned by the figure standing beside her.

When the goons are all piled near one set of doors, and their weapons secured on the opposite side of the room, Supergirl appears before them.

“Are you two all right?” she asks, but her gaze is fixed on Lena.

“Fine,” Lena clips out. She turns to leave both Kara and Andrea behind. She’d never admit it, but she’s rattled; all she wants to do is go home and pretend this night never happened.

She barely gets five steps before a hand reaches out for hers, catching her fingers gently. “Hey–”

Lena rips her hand from Andrea’s, whipping around to glare at her. “Don’t touch me.”

Her snarl stops Andrea short. Her eyes grow wide, but Lena only sees the hurt expression on the woman’s features for a heartbeat before she turns and marches into the chaos.

When she gets hom Lena immediately proceeds to try and forget the night. She shimmies out of her dress and leaves it where it puddles on her bedroom floor while she goes to take her hair down and wash the product out of it. By the time she steps out of the shower, her hands have stopped shaking.

She manages to pour a steady finger of scotch into a glass– only to make it a double. It gives it at least two swallows before she pours a refill and finally moves to the couch. No sooner does her ass touch the cushion than a knock sounds at her door. Lena knows who it is without even getting up– Andrea. She never really did learn when to leave well enough alone. Like Kara.

But when the knock turns into a fist pounding ceaselessly against the door, Lena resigns herself to hauling herself back onto tired feet and all but stomping towards the racket.

“What?” she snaps, yanking the door open. Without giving Andrea time to respond, she continues. “I’m not in the mood tonight.”

Andrea glares at her. “That’s not why I’m here and you know it.”

Lena glares back. As much as she’d like to slam the door in Andrea’s face, she can’t– Andrea’s fingers gripping the jam makes sure of that. Certain it’s deliberate, Lena rolls her eyes.

“I don’t feel like talking either.”

“Tough shit.” Andrea’s gaze is intense and full of fire, clearly willing to fight Lena tit for tat. “Let me in or I’ll pound on this door until morning.”

With a scoff, Lena turns and walks back to the living room, leaving Andrea to do as she wished. What Andrea wished, it seems, is to slam the door behind her and march in after Lena.

“What the fuck was that?” she demands.

She’s still in her gown, Lena notes, still made up into a stunning picture of elegance and beauty. All the things Lena always felt she herself was not. “What was what?” she grumbles.

“Don’t give me that bullshit, :ena/ Not tonight.” Andrea peels off her coat and dumps it and her purse on the nearest surface– the coffee table. She keeps her heels on, though, bringing every elegant inch of herself to bear. “I try to check on you after a life threatening situation, and suddenly I’m the bad guy?”

Lena leans forward, slamming her glass on the coffee table before climbing back to her feet. “You don’t get to care about me!” she fires back. “You lost that right, or have you forgotten?”

“I haven’t forgotten what’s happened, but news flash, Lena– you don’t get to dictate who’s allowed to care about you!”

Lena’s face twists into a scowl. “Don’t thing for a second that just because I let you fuck me that–”

“Don’t you dare finish that sentence!” Andrea shouts over her. SHe stands in front of Lena, shaking with rage. “That’s not what this is about!” She takes two rasping breaths. “You just stood up to a bunch of losers with assault rifles, and you’ve been through worse that I know you haven’t been this twisted up about. So why the fuck–”

“Because no one else has stood with me!”

The words blurt from Lena’s chest unbidden. Sudden tears burn at her eyes as she stares at Andrea staring at her. She swallows thickly. “Only Supergirl. But she’s invulnerable– might as well be crossing the street on a Tuesday.”

Lena scoffs at herself, wiping her eyes. When her vision clears, Andrea has softened. “Dont.”

“So you’re the only one allowed to risk your life?”

“I’m not–” she sniffles despite herself. She wraps her arms around herself. “I don’t get scared anymore, ‘Drea. not for myself. But when you– You can’t just–”

“Yes,” Andrea returns softly. “I can just.”

There’s no anger now– only new understanding. “But Lena… I was only able to be brave because you were.”

Lena has no words. None that could penetrate the sudden weight of meaning between them. Andrea regards her calmly, features unbearably soft.

“Sounds like you’ve convinced yourself that your life doesn’t have value,” she says quietly. She takes a step forward, running her hand down Lena’s arm. Lena tries to move away, but Andrea doesn’t let her, clasping her wrist in a gentle grip.

“If that’s the case, I’m happy to be your wake up call.”

“‘Drea…”

“Don’t tell me not to care. Or that it’s different for you than it is for me. You were in as much danger as I was. I wish you would care as much for yourself as you do about me.”

Lena scoffs, but the sound feels hollow. “Please…”

“You can try to convince yourself that it’s just sex between us,” Andrea purrs, her voice low. “But we both know it isn’t.” She smiles. “That’s never been your style.”

An indignant protest bubbles up in Lena’s throat, but it dies on her lips under Andrea’s warm gaze. There she hesitates, unsure what to do or say next, and the resulting silence hangs palpably between them. Ultimately Andrea is the one to break it.

“Your heart has always been the best thing about you, Lena. Don’t do yourself the disservice of trying to convince yourself otherwise.”

“That’s easy for you to say,” Lena grumbles.

“Perhaps,” Andrea concedes. “But that doesn’t make it any less true.”

Their hands are still linked, and Andrea gives Lena’s a squeeze. “If sex is all you want right now,” she continues, “that’s fine. But I’m still going to care, and I’ll still know that you still care too.”

Lena blinks up at her, chest tightening against threatening tears. “How do you know that?”

“Because if you didn’t,” Andrea says quietly, brushing her thumb across the back of Lena’s hand, “you wouldn’t still be hurting.”

With that, Lena comes undone. Her lips pull against the tears that spill down her cheeks. This time she doesn’t resist when Andrea tugs her into a hug. She sinks into the warmth of her friend’s arms, suddenly feeling as though all the energy has left her.

For the first time in her life, her hurt feels seen– seen in a way Kara hasn’t seemed to. She’s tired, tired of pretending she doesn’t want this– her friend back, her heart heard.

She hasn’t intended to give anyone her forgiveness, but tonight she has the sinking suspicion that she forgave Andrea a long time ago.

Being curious is good, as it can help you dig much more into the knowledge of yourself and life in general, but it has to be done in a good and healthy way for yourself. If so, it's stimulating, it helps you grow and explore just for the sake of it, not to impress others or be validated. We accept outcomes that maybe do not meet our expectations, but also "failures" (we don't deem them as real failures: it's simply a learning process that may have ups and downs, so we accept them anyway). It's not something forced, it comes naturally: we only are genuinely curious about that answer. And it stops there.

But it may happen that we become so driven to know all the details of something that we keep digging for answers without paying attention to the emotional consequences of it all, and that's called toxic curiosity. This often happens after a trauma: you need to know everything you can (and be in control of it this way) to calm your emotions, to find answers to your questions; not knowing can cause you too much discomfort so you rather impulsively search and even potentially hurt yourself with the answers. Not knowing may make you think you will be left out of something, so you keep digging more and more and more.... The answer you find, can cause you excitement or pain, according on its nature: you're too emotionally invested into finding it (and this keeps you hooked even further than a simple answer). It's an addicting cycle: it seems to bring you satisfaction after every discovery, but in reality it just damages you from within. It becomes an obsession (like continuosly checking people on social medias or knowing every little detail of something), more than a simple natural need. And, at times, it may even take you to the point of forgetting about your own life and needs. If this is your case, it's good to try and regulate this trait, to learn to regulate your emotions and accept the discomfort of not knowing. Sometimes some answers can really hurt you and block your healing journey as well as they can be too traumatizing, so it's worth to really work on this aspect.

There's also a useless curiosity which is not as harmful but not helping you either. It's about finding answers on a whim but forgetting them immediately, and jumping to the next one: it's the act of mindlessly searching that brings you comfort/adrenaline. It helps you distract yourself from other more impending and more important events; it helps you procrastinate (and procrastination generally happens to avoid something we don't wanna do for various reasons). To keep searching like this at times may deplete your energy and numb your mind, as you mostly focus on stuff that is unimportant to pass the time and distract yourself. It's all about infos you don't even need. It may be worth checking what this procrastination is about for you or if it's simply about passing your free time in a specific way (be aware of not wasting your energies like this; and if you happen to do this before sleeping, try to stop at least 30 mins to 1 hour before going to bed or it may make it harder for you to fall asleep).

Waiting for the best doctors in the country to be flown in specially to aid him should not have been such a grueling experience, but for Connor, it was hard to focus on much more than the bullet holes that had been ripped into him earlier that day. He hadn’t missed a beat between retaliating to the attack and settling himself somewhere safe to self-treat despite the tremble in his hand and the sweat sheening his forehead. There was something almost nostalgic about fashioning a tourniquet to save Edgar yet again, just in a different sense this time. But it was worth it now just as it had been then, and Connor made as much known.

Or at least he tried to. Further than spilling out in his native tongue, Connor’s words were fragmented at best, crammed between pained groans and involuntary chills. He wasn’t a man who easily reached for comfort but gripping Edgar’s hand seemed to ground his feverish skin from its boiling point, and he drank in the precious seconds he was spared to simply breathe. Losing the train of thought he was on a moment earlier, Connor found a moment of focus in the hazel of Edgar’s eyes to ask in English, “You’re okay, my love?”

Whether he licked his lips from the unfamiliarity of the endearment or the faint metallic taste on them was unknown to even him. And though he waited for an answer to his misplaced worry, whatever Edgar provided was fleeting in the haze of his mind anyway.

Connor would have to ask Edgar himself when he awoke. And he would wake, for leaving the man at his side alone was simply not an option. For now though, he would rest.

I am diligent about paying bills on time, but this month I paid them from the APP on my phone. 🙄 Whoopsies, missed a credit card payment that was not in "the view". Then I never realized until about 10 days later via emails, texts... yada yada. I transferred the funds on a Saturday from account to account - STILL didn't resolve until Tuesday. 🤦 Fast forward to receiving late fees, penalties, late payments! Oh no sir, not on this nautical watch! I fished like a fisherman in a storm! 🎣 Brought in grace and ease and then some. I then called the bank and the nicest young lady ever spoke with me on the phone. I explained it all at great detail. She did not say much other than, "I see it all here." 👀 Cloaked in what she was looking at were all the bank fees that were not showing up at my end. 😠 When I asked about them she explained them and I said, "I've been with ya'll forever. What can we do to erase all these excess fees?" and she said, "What would you like to do?" I said, "I'd like to delete/erase them!" She responded with, "All you had to do was ask." 🤩 We all know sometimes the universe can play a game with us, and as sure as the sea tides ebb and flow, high and low, so goes life! 🌊 Often in order to get some much needed Universe change... all we had to do was ask.

GOD OF RESTORATION

Joel 2:25

We see demonstrators all over the world today defacing and destroying millions of dollars’ worth painting for their cause, some of these painting are so old that restoring them may never be possible, while some of them were already restored to the point at which they were destroyed. Yet, man would still go the extra length to restore those painting to be enjoyed. How much then, the creator of the universe! He knows when and what we need restored to be restored.

As humans, we will often experience bad things and losses. But the same God who brings disaster when his people sin is also the God of mercy and abundant grace. He can give back what was taken, stolen, lost, and damaged.

The God whom we serve is not only a covenant-keeping God who fulfils everything He has ever promised, but is also the God of restoration who gives back everything lost. He’s done it before, and He’ll keep doing it.

There is a thief who keeps destroying and stealing from us, through deception, the original state of God's intentions for mankind. John 10:10 says he has stolen our peace, joy, unity, health, prosperity, and many more. Instead, we’ve ended up with hatred, strife, bitterness, jealousy, perversion, sickness, disease, and many more.

The power of God's restoration goes beyond our imagination and need, it transcends the physical because God knows that physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wholeness is a useful and essential tool in His hands and army.

I will repay you for the years, says the Lord in

verse 25.

What exactly is God offering in His repayment package? What did you do, what loss did you suffer, what was stolen or damaged that He says He will repay?

The answer is ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING. There is no limit to what He can pay back by restoration, if in doubt, check it out in Job’s book of life: total restoration.

The Shunamite woman’s restoration to life and wealth in 2 Kings 4:8-17, 8:1-6.

Restoration of vision. Your vision may have been lost or misplaced but the Lord can and will restore your vision, the ability to see clearer, better, and further. To see beyond your physical eyes and current situation according to Proverbs 29:18.

Restoration of hope: the optimistic attitude of mind of expectation of positive outcomes. As Romans 8:24-25 says, hope needs to be mingled with faith to receive from the Lord.

The Lord can restore confidence, yours may have been undermined by life’s experiences, eroded by someone or you’ve even lost confidence in God if you trust Him according to Hebrews 13:6.

Restoration to health. God wants to restore us to health as Jeremiah 30:17 says, after all, the thirty-nine stripes on Jesus’s back are for our healing. Allow God to restore you to wholeness from whatever sickness has taken from you.

What kind of restoration does God want to give you?

Isaiah 43:18-19 tells us He will bring Joel 2:25 to pass, but first, you need to forget all the history plaguing you and move forward towards the brand-new thing the Lord has in store that will be most wonderful compared to what you’ve lost or suffered. Brand new means, you never had that before and as it always is with God, it will surpass anything you have ever known.

The Lord’s restoration surpasses anything you can imagine, He gives you more than like for like, more than you asked for, more than you deserve and more than you can hold so that you have more than enough and more to give away in blessings.

Ask the God of restoration to set to work on your behalf in bringing restoration to every area of your life that requires His touch in everything. Your restoration is on the way.

PRAYER: Father, today I come before Your throne to ask for Your restoration in my life. I submit myself to Your ever-loving Will and kindness throughout the process in Jesus’ name. Amen.

While the government has the right to make decisions in the best interest of its citizens, it’s crucial that these decisions are informed by the voices of the people.

After all, democracy is not just about the right to vote, but also about the right to be heard.

The rejection of these petitions raises a crucial question about the state of democracy in the UK. Are the people’s voices being heard, or are their pleas being ignored? It is disheartening to see petitions submitted by concerned citizens being rejected without adequate consideration. This raises concerns about the transparency & fairness of the decision-making process.

The role of petitions is to give citizens a platform to voice their opinions or concerns. The fact that so many petitions were rejected highlights a worrying trend in the country. It is essential for the government to listen to the people thus, take their concerns seriously. The Potential Revenue from Legalisation

There has been a lot of debate around the legalisation of cannabis in the UK, with some arguing that it would lead to increased drug use and negative health consequences. Yet, there are also probable economic benefits that should be considered.
