I’m trying to figure out which of my AU’s to talk about! Especially because the brainrot is continuously eating at my mind lmao- this’ll be a short poll so, think fast ig?

It's fine when I'm hyperfixated on Supernatural. Most people who've owned cable television at least know what that is, and there's enough content that you can leave out the super weird stuff when talking to a neurotypical person.

It's okay when I'm hyperfixated on Merlin. Most people have at least heard of Arthurian legend, and even though the show is hella gay, there's plenty of history and fun quests and camaraderie to be talked about if someone's not interested in the relationships.

It's manageable when I'm hyperfixated on Good Omens. The TV show was very popular and the book fandom has spanned decades. It's harder not to gush about the inherent queerness in the story around hetero-minded people, but both pieces of media are so well written and the characters are so well designed that you can find plenty to infodump about.

These are hyperfixations of mine that usually take turns at the forefront of my mind. They come and go. I can forget about them for a while. But there is One. A show that has become a Special Interest ™:

NBC Hannibal

And how the fuck am I supposed to "lightly" infodump about that to people. That show is so gay, so gory, so toxic and fucked up and gross. There is absolutely no way to vaguely obsess over or even mention liking this show without a normal person looking at you like two heads.

"Well OP you could talk about the writing and cinematography." NO YOU CANNOT. Not without mentioning the way the corpses are posed at crime scenes or on a plate, or the way Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy have mastered the art of eye-fucking, or how every word spoken from Hannibal's mouth reeks of "I am an all powerful cannibalistic god who would gladly get on my knees and use my sinful mouth for nothing but worshipping this twitchy man-turned-serial-killer for the rest of my days". YOU JUST CAN'T DO IT.

advice i think we should tell children is that when adults say stuff like ‘now that i’m an adult i get really excited about stuff like coffee tables and bathrooms and rugs etc’ they don’t mean ‘and now i don’t care about blorbo and squimbus from my childhood tv shows anymore’ bc your average adult still loves all the same pop culture stuff they always did; they just have a greater appreciation for the mundane as well. growing up just means you can enjoy life twice as much now. you can get really excited about a new stuffed animal AND about a new kitchen sponge. peace and love
