It wasn’t on purpose. Nights when you and Jake ended up at the same bar were never planned, mostly because your friends from work always wanted to go somewhere downtown, and Jake’s friends from work always wanted to go to the Hard Deck so there was never a chance for the two groups to intersect.
Tonight, however, your friends had enough of hearing about all your nights at the Hard Deck with your fighter pilot husband who drops by work every once and a while with lunch or a gorgeous bouquet of flowers. They decided to venture out to the Hard Deck tonight for your monthly get-together and you weren’t going to miss an opportunity to ogle at your husband from across the bar while he played darts and pool with his Dagger Squad friends who just so happened to be in town visiting.
And that’s exactly where you found yourself on this lovely Friday night. Your friend walked over to your standing table with another drink for you and you thanked her with a smile. She immediately started diving into some workplace gossip, keeping her voice quiet since so many of your colleagues had managed to make it out tonight. You half-listened to her go on how bad the break room refrigerator smelled the other day but your real focus was on Jake who was playing pool with Phoenix, Fanboy, and Bob. He had Bob on his team and you were surprised to see him actually give the man a chance to play without correcting or coaching him.
You knew all about the Dagger Squad, when Jake was first sent out here you followed him, even knowing this wouldn’t be a permanent duty station, and he talked about everyone he was competing against non stop. From the moment he came home after training you were getting a full rundown of the days happening (you were sworn to secrecy of the top secret events, of course). You learned quickly who was who, even if you never got the opportunity to meet them.
After the mission, you were pulling out boxes and getting ready to move what little belongings you brought over to the island when Jake came home and surprised you to your core. He accepted a teaching position here on the North Island and you were staying for the foreseeable future.
You were shocked but over the moon. Jake would be in one spot for at least a couple years and wouldn’t be off on deployments and missions so often. You could start a family and he could actually be there for all of it.
“Hello? Anybody home?” A hand waving in front of your face brought you out of memories and a trance you hadn’t realized you were in. You laughed and smiled at your friend, but not before catching the eye of Phoenix, who totally caught you staring at Jake.
“Sorry, sorry, got a little lost there.” You waved her hand out of your face and took another sip from your drink.
“I’ll say,” she laughed, “I mean, I get it.” Her eyebrows wagged and you laughed heartily, throwing your head back. She was always complimenting your choice of husband and you had to agree with her, he was fine as hell.
“Fuck, I think one of his friends just caught me staring,” you said once the laughter died down.
“Remind me again why he doesn’t tell them about you?”
“It started off as a joke,” you start, “he wanted to see how long it would take one of them to notice, and now it’s just an ongoing bet we have.”
“A bet I am about to win, by the way.” Jake suddenly appears behind you and you’re happy to see him until his words sink in.
“You’re not allowed to interfere!” You point at him and he just laughs.
“No interference, I promise.” He leans on the table you two are standing at and you almost forget about the bet for a second because his green eyes still captivate you even after all this time.
“Well, what are you doing over here then?”
“See now, that’s where it gets interesting because someone caught you looking at me,” he tips his beer over in the direction of his friends, who scatter like chickens when you turn your head to look at them, “and they bet me $20 that I couldn’t walk over here and get your phone number.”
“Hmmm, seems like fair play to me.” Your friend interjects, looking contemplatively between you and your cheating husband.
A noise comes out of your mouth, somewhere between disbelief and betrayal. You only had one month left before the bet was yours and you could claim your prize and now this happens, the perfect opportunity falls right into Jake’s lap.
“Did none of them notice the giant ring on my finger?” You hold up your wedding rings, which glint even in the dim bar lighting and Jake takes your fingers in his hand, bending them towards himself before placing a kiss on your knuckles. You swoon. It’s impossible not to. “Don’t try to distract me, you’re in trouble.”
“Come on darlin’,” His hand fell away from yours but moved slyly around your hip, where it curled around the belt loops of your shorts, and just then, while his face was inching towards yours, your wedding song came on.
“When did this song get added to the jukebox?”
“I may have put in a special request.” His smile did you in. You met him halfway and when your lips met that familiar kaleidoscope of butterflies took flight. Jake pulled away just to smile at you some more before pressing a few quick kisses to your lips. When he backed away enough, you took the chance to look over his shoulder and see what his friends thought.
The entire group was standing around, completely gobsmacked at what just occurred and you could only imagine what was running through their minds.
“After you, Mrs. Seresin,” Jake whispered in your ear. You gave him the best glare you could but he just laughed and grabbed your hand to walk you over to the group of people you already felt like you knew.
Jake chuckled as you got within ear shot. “Everyone, I’d like you to meet someone,” he pulled you under his arm and you automatically slid your own across his back, “this is my wife.” He said it with genuine pride, a stark contrast to his usual cocky tone everyone was used to.
“Wife?” Rooster repeated, dumbfounded.
“Pick your jaw up off the floor, Bradshaw.”
You ignored Jake and introduced yourself to everyone with a quick wave. “It’s nice to finally meet you all.”
There was a beat of silence while you watched everyone process what was happening, but Phoenix broke it with a laugh. “You’ve been holding out on us, Bagman!”
“Yeah, what the hell, man!” Rooster seemed downright offended that Jake would keep such a secret from them and you couldn’t help but laugh.
“It’s not all Jake’s fault,” You come to his defense, “we had a bet going, which I just lost.”
“What bet did you two have?” Bob asked, coming forward to introduce himself to you properly.
You shook his outstretched hand, smiling. “We wanted to see how long it would take for someone to figure out he was married.”
“You… you don’t wear a wedding ring?” Rooster seemed to be having the hardest time with this revelation and it was cracking you up.
Jake pulled his dog tags out from under his shirt, proudly turning them around to display his gold wedding band that perfectly matched the one around your finger. They both belonged to his grandparents and he was so proud to give you his grandmother's band on your wedding day.
Phoenix studied the two of you for a moment, watched the way you started to sway to a song and Jake immediately joined in, watched how his attention always drifted back to you, and how his entire cocky dimenor melted away as soon as you were near.
“So, what’s the story? How did you manage to bag Hangman?” Natasha asked, leaning her hands on the pool cue in front of her.
Jake pretended to be offended. “I’m not that wild.”
You roll your eyes affectionately before diving into the story of how you and Jake met. It was nothing spectacular or anything you would want to make a movie about, but it was a whirlwind romance that ended in the two of you married in the Seresin family’s backyard three summers ago.
When you finished your story, all smiles for your husband, Rooster raised his beer in a toast. “Welcome to the family, Mrs. Seresin.”
Jake couldn’t help but smile. It felt good to let the team in on his best-kept secret, even if he was gonna pay for her losing the bet later on tonight.

ROMEO & JULIET, l. hughes
word count | 1.3k
pairings | luke hughes x fem!zegras!reader, platonic!trevor zegras x sister!reader, platonic!quinn hughes x reader, platonic!jack hughes x reader
summary | in which trevor zegras finds out who his sister has been fooling around with, and he isn’t very happy.
warnings | not proofread, no use of "y/n", but the reader goes by the nickname “jules”. slight nsfw content but no smut. lowercase intended. this is a work of fiction, i am by no means saying this is how they act in real life.
a/n | this is highly requested, however i did rewrite it like 3 times. it still isn’t my favorite thing ever but here it is! enjoy!!
jules zegras was off limits to trevor’s friends, a rule that jules found incredibly stupid. since when did he get to decide who she can and cannot date? still, she kept her distance and they kept theirs. that was until luke hughes walked into jules’ life.
it started off as nothing more than a fling, a one night stand. but one night turned to two, and nights turned into morning coffees, you get the picture. jules was happy, luke hughes made her happy. he was the perfect gentleman, he opened the car door for her, brought her flowers for every date night. he treated her like a queen and fucked her like a whore. he was the definition of perfect in jules’ eyes; the only problem was trevor.
because of trevor, they spent most of their time together, sneaking around. quick kisses as they passed, sneaking into bathrooms at parties for a few minutes alone. they had sworn ethan and mark to secrecy when they had caught the two of them kissing. and trevor did everything in his power to keep his sister away from his friends, especially the hughes brothers. they were a real life romeo and juliet.
jules giggled as luke kissed up her neck, her hands attempting to push him back. “lu, we can’t. my brother will be back soon and he will kill you if he found out.” she let out a breathy moan as he sucked lightly on her neck. “luke, please.”
“i’m tired of hiding, baby. i just wanna kiss my girl and not have to worry about everyone finding out.” luke looked at her, a soft pout on his face.
“trust me, i want nothing more than to show you off, but i can't if you're dead. just give me time to tell him.” luke frowned but nodded, placing another kiss on her neck. “luke.”
“alright, alright, i’m done.” he smirked, backing off. “for now.” jules blushed, pushing him away from her when the door to her apartment opened.
“jules! luke! we're back!” trevor shouted, setting the pizzas on her counter.
“dude, we’re right here. you don't need to shout.” jules glared at her brother as jack and quinn walked in behind him. “the fuck you lookin’ at?” jules raised an eyebrow to jack who had a weird look on his face.
“is that a hickey?” he asked, pointing to the bruise forming on her neck. she gave him a harsh glare, knowing what he was up to. jack had walked in on luke and jules cuddling the day prior, and he had been trying to get them to tell trevor ever since. “are you blushing?” jules stood up, shoving past jack to grab a slice of pizza.
“i don't know what you’re talking about.” she didn’t meet the eyes of her brothers and friends as she made her way back to her spot on the couch.
“jules, what is he talking about? let me see.” trevor tried to get a look at the hickey, but jules pushed him away, smacking him upside the back of his head. “ow, what the hell?”
“fuck off, trev. it's just a hickey, you act like you haven’t ever given someone a hickey!” she argued, her blush giving away the embarrassment she was feeling. “i’ve had it a few days, clearly you are oblivious.”
“you didn’t have it yesterday.” jack stated, his mouth full of pizza. trevor whipped around to jack, ready to interrogate his best friend. quinn sat beside luke, the two watching it go down. luke was glaring at his brother, giving him the ‘cut it out’ motion as he did.
“how do you know?” trevor looked to jack, a suspicious look on his face. “i swear, jack, if you gave her the hickey–”
“first of all, ew. second of all, jack doesn’t know what he’s talking about.”
“what do you mean ew? please, you wanna get with me, don’t even deny it.” jules rolled her eyes, going to retort when trevor interrupted them.
“hold up, do you know who gave her the hickey?”
“trev, i’m in college. why are you so surprised that i have a hickey?” jules was doing her best to defer the conversation, but trevor was persistent. “just let it go.”
“i’ll let it go when you tell me.” jules huffed out a laugh at his words. “come on, jules, just tell me!”
“no! jesus, trev, it isn’t that big of a deal.” jules took a bite of her pizza, glancing at luke. he was silent, avoiding eye contact with her and trevor.
“dude, just let her be. i wanna watch a movie and i can’t if you fuckers keep arguing.” quinn intervened, tired of the pointless arguing. jules looked to quinn with a grateful look in her eye, earning a slight nod.
“fine, but we aren’t finished talking about this, jules.” she rolled her eyes, grabbing the remote from her coffee table to turn on a movie.
“yeah, whatever.” jules clicked on a random movie, glancing to luke once more.
“dude, why do you keep looking at luke?” trevor asked, his face dropping when he realized. “oh my god, it was luke wasn’t it?” luke’s face flushed and he began to stutter as he tried to tell him otherwise. “oh my god!”
“trevor, wait before you get mad–” jules started, her face incredibly red.
“of all my friends, you chose luke?”
“hey! why’d you say it like that?” luke asked, an offend look on his face. “you say that like i’m a bad kid or something. be glad it's me and not jack!” jack began to choke on his pizza, glaring at luke as he coughed.
“fuck you, moose. i’m a great guy!” jules burst out laughing at his statement, stopping when she saw the look on trevor’s face.
“trevor, please. just listen before you kill him.”
“kill me?” luke’s voice squeaked, his eyes wide.
“hush, luke.” luke looked to quinn wide eyed, jules moved closer to luke, putting herself between luke and trevor. “listen, trev, he treats right, okay? and he is super sweet, and funny, and hot. and he treats me right, and that’s all that should matter.” jules spoke quickly, her face flushed as she spoke. “i like him, trev, like really, really like him. hell, i love him!” she clamped a hand over her mouth at her confession. her eyes darted to luke, the only sound in the room being the tv as everyone stared at her, eyes wide. “wait–”
“you love me?” jules’ fight or flight kicked and she ran out the door of her apartment. she hadn't even realized she was running until she was outside her complex, the winter air nipping at her skin. she felt her chest tighten, panic coursing through her veins. she hadn’t meant to say that, at least not yet. she sat on the cold pavement attempting to catch her breath. “j?” she whipped her head toward luke, shocked he had followed her out.
“lu–” luke sat beside her, placing a hand on her cheek and drawing her lips to his.
“i love you, jules zegras. so goddamn much.” luke said, after pulling back from her. she gripped the front of his shirt in her fist, a goofy smile on her lips.
“god, you are so hot.”
“oh, i know.” he laughed when she hit him. she kissed him once more, before pulling him up with her.
“we should probably go talk to trevor. he’s probably planning your murder.”
“ehh, i wouldn't be so sure about that.” jules looked at him, confused. he led her back up to her apartment, opening the door. inside, shouting could be heard.
“dude, we’re going to be brothers-in-law!” jack shouted, shaking trevor by his shoulders. “aren’t you excited?”
“yes, i am. i don’t think quinn is though.” jules and luke walked in further, looking to quinn who had a dead stare on his face, looking as though he wanted to die.
“you good, quinny?” jules asked, looking to the oldest hughes.
“how could you do this to me?”

Your index finger sat atop the straw sitting in your drink, moving it around the glass as you mindlessly listened as Adam ranted to you and Lute, mostly Lute, about Charlie Morningstar. You weren’t an exorcist- no, you actually didn’t know about the exterminations at all…up until recently. Thanks to one of Adam’s childish outbursts, you had a long night with Lute explaining the whole situation to you. Now you were sworn to secrecy, and conversations of the madness that the extermination were and everything they came with, AKA Charlie.
Adam wasn’t ever your buddy, he was just someone who shamelessly attached himself to Lute's hip; but you put up with it because of your good friendship with Lute. Now, he’s somehow weaselled his way into believing you were part of this weird “team” purely based off of association.
“I mean who does this long horned, pointy teeth, pussy mucher think she is?!” Adam screamed slamming his hands against the table, you rolled your eyes at him and his stupid antics. “You’re one to talk,” You replied, his eyes snapping toward you. “You’ve got both horns and teeth. Why don’t you take that funky band mask off anyways?”
Scoffing he rolled his neck side to side. “Because this is my job, my persona, how’re people gonna recognize me without it!? Duh, dumb bitch.” Muttering the insult quickly, he leaned his cheek on his palm and went back to sucking his drink.
“With all due respect sir, this is really bad news, we can’t let Charlie persuade Sera.” Lute piped up, her mask discarded showing the genuine emotion on her face. Sometimes you couldn’t tell if he was a friend, someone she was in love with, an annoying brother-like figure, or just her lazy ass boss. Maybe all of the above.
Which is probably one of the reasons you kept your tiny little crush on Adam to yourself. He was cruel to you anyways, always comparing you to someone faster, funnier, stronger, hotter at least that’s what you told yourself. Instead you chose to be more of a bitch back, acting as disgusted and disinterested as you could, especially when Lute was around as she could sniff out a lie like some psychic canine.
“Yeah, duh Lute i fucking know that. You think I've been jerking off this whole time! No, eyes, ears focused, I haven't cum in days.” He whined, throwing his head back. Lute only scoffed glancing over at you slumped back in your seat barely sipping your drink, eyes casted downward. “You don’t have to be here for this kind of talk,” Lute started saying, her hand inching across the table to yours, but she was stopped by Adam once more leaning forward, gloved palms slapping against the table.
“The fuck are you saying Lute!? We get another fucker in this circle and you wanna cast her out. Un-fucking-believeable. It’s like you want Charlie to win.” Throwing a napkin at Adam, Lute slid her hand away from you. “They’re not even an exorcist Adam, you’re the fuck head who got them in on exterminations!”
“No i didn’t, they walked in on a private conversation.” Eyebrows knitted together you lurched forward, anger fueling you. “Oh piss off Adam, how many times are we gonna go over this stupid situation! I’m not your fucking friend, i’m not ‘in’ on it, i’m here for Lute and you won’t fucking leave!”
Adam had a bored expression on his face while you ranted, unfazed by anything you’d said. Lute however bit her lip clasping her hands together. In a fight between her boss slash friend, and her friend, she didn’t know what to do. “You always have your nose up in Lute's business, it’s so annoying. Lute’s my man, okay she works for me! Guess who comes first in this business chica? Not you.” Adam mocked sticking his tongue out at you.
Standing you picked up your cup whipping it at Adam’s head, he dodge it easily, but your emotionally fueled violence made you quickly regretful as both Adam’s and Lutes eyes looked at you questioningly. You’d never really lost your shit before, and this wasn’t the worst Adam has said, so they were a little confused at your outburst, yourself included.
“Listen, Adam, I’m-“ Before you could finish Adam keeled over, laughing maniacally as you watched. After a few short laughter filled moments, Adam straightened, elbows on the table, hands hammocking his chin as he smiled up at you.
“Got some bite in you for sure huh babe, ha! I’m not surprised, honestly when i saw you i was like ‘this bitch has a face made for hell’, you probably got up here cause you were unfuckable so, like, virgin. Oh! Oh! That makes so much fucking sense dude! Ha! Bummer, I could smell the weak loser on ya, didn’t I tell ya danger tits?” Adam questioned head turned toward Lute after his animated, and very condescending speech.
Lute only looked down, not responding. Meanwhile you were horrified, you’d always felt a little less than Lute, after all she carried out holy duties, ones that you hadn’t fully known up until recently, so hearing Adam say the same things you thought of yourself, shattered you. Your face felt hot as tears gathered on the waterline of your eyes. You didn’t belong here, you said it for the longest time everyone here was mindless optimist zombies, Lute was your only lifeline, and for a few months you suppose-Adam.
You never hated him, but it’s clear he’s only fond of Lute. You’re the intruder, you’re the odd one. Clenching your fists you didn’t even bother with a come back, you slid out from your table booking it to the door. Tears unwillingly slid down your cheeks, your chest heaving as your throat closed silencing whatever weep dared to exit your throat.
You could hear Lute calling after you but you genuinely didn’t want to be followed by her, you were embarrassed; the last thing you wanted was the strong exorcist coming to witness you crumble. Throwing the door to the building open your wings sprung out on reflex, and after a few quick steps you took off. You couldn’t quite see, or breathe for that matter. Your mind lagged behind you, replaying the moments in your head that matched up to Adam’s insults.
You blinked rapidly as you attempted to focus on the clouds beneath you and breeze around you, but you couldn’t. You choked once more, your stomach convulsing inward causing you to gasp, a sob violently escaping you as you rocketed toward whatever surface you could find. Suddenly you hit something solid, stunning your flight and causing you to spin down, plummeting. As you fell, the breeze stabbed you as you cut into it, your wings sagging and loosely flailing above you, it felt so calm and freeing you didn’t feel the will to stop.
By the grace of god, however, you were caught and roughly smacked against the chest of someone, their arms clutching you tightly. You barely heard a ‘gotcha’ before your vision tunnelled, stomach flipped and you lost consciousness.
——
Waking slowly, your eyes stung the moment they opened, nearly watering at the blinding white that invaded them. Willing yourself to rise, you lazily scanned the room you laid in. A living room, coloured with yellows, creams and whites, it was, in all honesty, way too much. A large portrait of a man with a woman, meticulously scrapped out, hung above the fireplace. You’d never seen this man ever before, and the woman was too scratched out to get any idea on who it was. Suppose these people never existed as it was a painting, but there was something about the man that captivated you so deeply.
“Look who finally rose, sleeping bitchy.” You immediately felt sick, turning your head unsurprised to see Adam standing there smugly. You frowned deeply, it felt nearly impossible to twist your mouth in such a way, but there was no hiding your distaste in seeing the angel. “Why am I here, Adam.” You say scaldingly, eyes closed attempting to shield yourself from whatever foul look took over his face. “Well after your little shit show, a little over dramatic by the way, Lute left to find you, and I went for a fly. Then suddenly minding my own business I see you tryna play asteroid! Then when I caught you, your dumbass went out.”
Sighing loudly you pulled your hand down your face. “Please, admit Lute put you up to it.” Slamming a glass of water down on the table along with a platter of fruit, including oranges, pomegranates and mangos, Adam grunted moving his hand to sit on his hips. “The fuck she did, she’s not getting the praise for this one.” You looked up at him and then down at the fruit and drink on the side table just to your right, you nodded at it. “What’s this?”
You barely whispered out. Blowing air out threw his lips effectively raspberryingring the air, he shrugged. “Stuff for you, duh, you’re like sick or something right?” You nearly smiled at that, you’d never had Adam have that reaction. Quite the array of fruit as well, carefully you picked up a few pieces of orange, as well as mango that had a toothpick sticking up from them you munched down. You hummed, watching like a hawk as Adam walked across from you and sat on the other couch.
“How long was i out?” You questioned after swallowing, gulping down some water feeling the soothing sensation on your raw throat. “Maybe thirty minutes, not long. I texted Lute, I told her you were with me, safe.” That made you pause, you gazed up at him from the bowl of pomegranates you started digging into. “What? Why didn’t she come?” Adam huffed, throwing his hands behind his head and leaned back. “Because I told her not to.” Your mouth fell open eyes wide.
“Why thee holy fuck, would you tell her not to come?” Sitting up straighter you swung your legs over the side, sitting properly instead of lounging. Adam wouldn’t meet your gaze drifting off to the left and right. “Fucking… fuck!” He exclaimed almost in what sounded like exhaustion. Watching him closely, you waited as he seemed to have an inner debate with himself. Then swiftly he gripped his face and ripped off his mask.
The face you were met with was like a punch in the gut, yeah he could be compared to men you’ve seen in your lifetime probably at a gas station or cheap bar, but it was Adam. The man you’ve been trying so hard to hate, getting into cussing battles, throwing insults at each other that rolled off the back, occasionally praising each other's insults, forcing yourself to loathe him when you both kinda knew it wasn’t and now it was real. You got to look in his gold eyes, the dark thick lashes accentuating the uniqueness of his eye colour, the chin hair that crawled just under his chin -which you never expected him to have-, his tousled brown hair, thick eyebrows one eyebrow pierced - also a shock to you-.
He looked like the asshole he was, and it made you fucking sick. Trying so hard to hate him had come to this? Him unmasking himself after saving you? Cruel, you wanted to hate him, get over him not know that all he said about him being the hottest, the dickmaster, pussypounder-whatever, was probably true, that he’s hot. You were embarrassed to feel the nasty hum of jealousy claw at you when you could see the woman in the painting in your peripheral, that was obviously him, with some woman. He was wanted, and taken before.
Flicking his tongue over his lips you caught a glimpse of a tongue piercing because of course the pretty boy would get whatever he wanted without worrying about rules. He shuffled nervously biting his lip as you eyed him shamelessly, which to him was judgemental, his nerves suddenly making him feel sweaty. “Why?” You ask breathily, you were too enchanted to care how he perceived that however. His eyes properly met yours, your legs crossed subconsciously at the zap you felt just by a look.
“Youre fucking dumb you know that? You think I hang with Lute when you’re around because Lute’s there?!” Adam stood after the exclamation, his eyes shooting around the room, hands flying to his hair. “I can’t fucking do this a third time! Fuck!” Tossing a vase across the room you watched unfazed by the sudden explosion, after all this was your thing too.
“I only go round Lute like that because you’re there dumbass, i tried easing up on you; just like Lute said! But you, oh noooo little bitch, just had to be so fucking bratty.” Standing over you sneering, you made no attempts to move, not genuinely scared of his anger but instead, perhaps, a little aroused. You in a way understood where his frustrations came from anyway, you in a sense felt the same way. Might be why you lost it earlier, the yearning had gotten too real, and he seemed so focused on Charlie.
“I am so disgustingly attracted to you, not even in a sex way! And I know how to deal with that a lot better.” Swinging his hand out sassily, he smirked to himself. Plopping next to you he rested his cheek on his hand, elbows rested on his legs. Plucking an orange from the table you watched him eat it, juice moistening his lips. “You think i’d peel fruit, save, house and give water to some broad I genuinely hated? No, stupid.”
Laughing dryly, you looked up away from Adam’s intense gaze. You smiled, eyes falling from the ceiling to your lap. “God i fucking hate you,” Adam’s face looked horrified, opening his mouth to speak, you stopped him grabbing his cheeks and pulling into a searing hot kiss. Your lips crashed against each others’ lazily but passionately, opened mouthed and slightly sloppy. It was slow however, a kiss that wasn’t just a kiss, neither of you wanted to haste past such a moment, such emotion. Adam’s arms wrapped around your hips nudging you forward, understanding the message you moved in closer, your body’s pressing against each other as much as you could from the seated position on the couch.
You dug your fingers into his hair, brainlessly playing with different strands as your tongues slid along one another’s without care, tasting the orange he just ate presently on his lips and to tongue. It felt heavenly being up against him, Adam smelt so good, he was so warm and you could feel how badly he wanted this. His body jittered, his hands gripping you like you’d disappear if he loosened. Pulling away and looking at Adam, he made no effort to move eyes still closed like trying to etched this memory in his mind. You hummed lovingly, brushing hair away from his forehead. “You’re a dumb bitch.” He whispered raspily, opening his eyes, although not by much as they lidded with lust.
You smirked at him brushing your thumb against his bottom lip. “I know. You too.”

Goodbye, Hello (Alexia Putellas x reader)
Tumblr media
A/N: Chapter 4 of The Legacy Series. Now the story can really begin.
Ajax was home, the players and staff were your family yet as you stand in the tunnel at the stadium named after your father for the first time you cannot help but think that in another world that would have been the first of many. Oh how you wished he could see you play on the field that meant so much to him. Would he proud of you? You’d like to think so.
Meanwhile the players of Barcelona have a day off in Portland between their games for the WICC cup. They had naturally split into groups much like they do on any away trip but Alexia noticed something as she bumped into a couple of her team mates wandering the unfamiliar city; two were missing, Lieke and Aitana. As far as she was aware the two of them wasn’t close enough to do something together so it sparked her curiosity. The captain convinces Jenni, Leila, Mapi and Patri to go back to hotel to get them, she didn’t want them to waste their day in the hotel room. What she didn’t expect was to see Aitana walking the hallway donning a red & white football shirt. As she get closer to the young midfielder she recognises the Ajax shirt with your last name on.
“Aitana” Alexia voice makes her jump.
“What are you doing here”
It didn’t sound like a question and her face had the same expression a young child does when they’re caught doing something they shouldn’t.
“I could ask you the sa—“
“Aitana hurry up, it’s about to kick off”
The door opens to reveal Lieke wearing an identical shirt to Aitana.
“What is? Who’s playing?” Mapi asks slightly confused as to why her team mates would rather stay in the hotel instead of exploring.
“Ajax” Lieke says with a obvious tone whilst pointing to the badge on her shirt.
“And why are we watching Ajax?” Patri added.
Aitana and Lieke shared a look. What which said ‘We know something you don’t and we don’t know if we can tell you’.
The secret they had been keeping for the past couple of days would be sure to bring a smile to their captain’s face but you had sworn them to secrecy. Lieke only found out because she had visited you in Amsterdam before going back to Barcelona and your mum let it slip. Aitana found out straight from the horses mouth when she was invited to a Cruyff foundation event in Barcelona, imagine the shock when she saw you there. Afterwards you told her about your decision and she pinky promised that she wouldn’t tell a soul.
“She’s playing for them isn’t she?” The devastation in Alexia’s voice was clear. She truly thought that you had played your last game for Ajax and after your talk in Ibiza she was almost certain you would soon be a Barcelona player but now she had doubts.
Lieke only nodded in fear that she would let it slip if she were to open her mouth.
You walked proudly out of the tunnel as you wore the captain’s armband one last time. As you line up with the rest of the team you spot your mother, two brothers, sister-in-law, niece and nephew in the crowd. It takes every ounce of strength not to break there and then. The past couple of days had taken a lot out of you, tears included and up until this moment you thought you had no tears left to cry, oh how wrong you were.
After you shook hands with the Feyenoord captain you walk to your position. You were in the zone, that is until you hear the entire stadium break out into applause. When you turn around you see that both teams have left you to walk to the middle of the pitch alone. The fans were showing their appreciation and it was killing you. The game was a farewell and the fans knew it even though nothing official had been announced. It was set up as a friendly but it was also against Feyenoord, the club’s rival and it just so happened to be your favourite fixture of the season.
You really did enjoy the next 90 minutes and scoring at John Cruyff area will be something you would never forget. Truthfully, you wasn’t sure how to feel. Should you be happy for the career you have had at the club or should you be sad for leaving, the latter hit you like a tone of bricks.
Your coach calls you over to the sidelines where you see your family waiting. There was two frames shirts resting on stands. You joined the women’s team when it was first established in 2012 and you would leave being the highest capped player as well as the clubs top goal scorer, the two shirts represented these achievements.
Alexia couldn’t believe the scene unfolding on the screen in front on her.
“She’s leaving?” Alexia asked Lieke without taking her eyes of the screen, you had her full attention.
“What does it look like?”
The TV showed you sobbing in your brother arms. You and Alexia had talked about the difficulties that came with moving to Barcelona but she never once stopped to think about what it meant for you to leave Amsterdam.
“Are you crying?”
Alexia feels a tear fall down her cheek, one that she quickly wipes as she thinks Mapi is talking to her and she isn’t ready to be teased again.
“Lieke you’re crying”
She was in the clear. The Dutch woman was the one bound to be teased.
“You wouldn’t understand. You don’t know her like I do”
But I want to. This is what Alexia thinks but doesn’t say.
“Aitana’s going to lose her number” Jenni says.
“No I’m not. She’s already told me that she doesn’t want it” Aitana only realises what she had said when it’s too late.
This is enough pull Alexia’s attention from watching you give a speech, one which she doesn’t understand but still she hangs on every word.
“What do you mean she has already told you” Alexia questions her team mate who clearly knows more than what she’s leading on.
“I didn’t say that” Aitana wishes she could take it back.
“Yes you did. Y/N told you her decision didn’t she?”
“You’ll have to wait till Monday to find out” upon realising she was digging herself a deeper hole, Aitana comes up with an excuse to leave the room knowing had broken her promise without directly breaking her promise.
“Lieke?” Alexia changes tactics. If Aitana knew something, your best friend definitely did.
“You must have said something right in Ibiza”
She didn’t confirm it but she didn’t have to. It wasn’t like you and Alexia talked about you moving to Arsenal in detail that night. She wished that she could press fast forward on her life. It was only Friday, meaning still had three days before she would find out officially that you had chosen to follow in your father’s footsteps. In three days you would be announced as a Barcelona player, the Blaugrana shirt would once again have Cruyff on the back.
When Monday came around the team entered the facility with an extra pep in their step, all eyes glued to the locker room door. Every person that entered who wasn’t you was met with a look of disappointment. It is only when Lluis walks in does the elephant in the room get discussed.
“By the way your faces dropped when you saw it was me, I assume you know what is happening today or more appropriately who is signing for us today. Given what this means to the club the announcement will be made over at Camp Nou, not here”
“But then she’ll be coming here, right?” Alexia tried her best to mask her disappointment but failed miserably.
“Not today. She has media, several photoshoots and a meet & great at the stadium store”
Alexia knew that this wasn’t what you wanted. The club was making the most of having a Cruyff back at Barcelona and they didn’t stop the think the toll that it would have on you, it was a business at the end of the day.
Several hours later, training had finished for the day. Lieke was in the shower when her phone starting to ring, a call which she obviously missed yet the person of the other line didn’t give up. After the fifth missed call Alexia grabs the phone with the intention of giving it to the Dutch but she accidentally sees who the caller was.
Danny Cruyff 5 Missed Calls.
A small panic formed in her gut. Why was your mother calling Lieke and why was she so persistent. Had something happened to you?
That panic didn’t lessen when she handed the phone to Lieke whose face must have been a mirror to her own. She immediately calls your mother back.
“Hoi” “Natuurlijk” “Ik laat haar jou bellen”
Alexia’s Dutch was practically none existing. Lieke has tried teaching her some phrases during away games but the only things she could understand was hello which didn’t answer her unasked question; were you ok?.
“Is she ok?” Alexia asked. She didn’t need to say your name for Lieke to understand who she talking about.
“Apparently the press conference got a little bit out of hand. They were asked not to ask too many questions about Johan but there was one Marca journalist who didn’t stop pushing. Now Y/N won’t answer any of Jordi, Luuk or Danny’s calls. I said I’d go round to their house after I finish here”
“Are none of her family here with her?”
“No. Y/N knows what this will bring up for them and her so she asked them not to come but promised they could be at the first home game” Lieke pauses when she sees the look of worry on her captain’s face “Would you like to come with me?”
“Where?”
“To see her”
Alexia nods her head eagerly as a grin spreads from ear to ear.
Lieke asks that Alexia not mention the visit to the rest of the team but in the end it isn’t Alexia that lets it slip. Aitana can tell what the two of them are up to when the rush to pack up their things and leave without being noticed. The small spaniard asks if she can go with them as well only she says it a little too loud. Before Lieke has the chance to answer her, several other players ask to go with them. Their argument; you were now part of the team and this team always looks out for their own.
“She is going to hate this” Lieke says but still she agrees silently hoping that your habit of wanting to being alone in these moments is no longer a thing.
“I can tell them that they can’t come” Alexia is ready to do whatever is needed.
“No, let them come. Truth is I don’t know what to say to her. Maybe one of them can cheer her up” Lieke pointed to were Leila had Patri in a chokehold whilst Mapi filmed them for some reason.
Now you wouldn’t say you hated the house in Barcelona but there was a reason why you tended to stay in a hotel whenever you visited the city. It was the home your Mother and Father built, it has their presence everywhere whilst the house in Amsterdam was more your style. You had asked your mother if you couldn’t redecorate but she said no.
You were staring aimlessly in the garden when you heard the intercom go off letting you know someone was at the gate. Now it could be one of two people, your manager and Lieke, both of them knew the code so you were a bit hesitant as you looked at the security camera. It’s safe to say you didn’t expect who you saw but you let them in anyways.
Your mother raised to be a good host so you greated them at the door before they had the chance to knock or ring the bell. Looking in the mirror that was hung above the table in the foyer you hated how obvious it was that you had been crying but when you welcomed your team mates none of them mentioned it.
It seemed that you were having some kind of team night because they had brought Pizza which you wasn’t against. You hadn’t eaten all day and you wasn’t in the mood to cook.
“Call your mother” Lieke smacked you playfully before making herself at home. She knew where everything was so you left her to get plates, glasses and whatever else they needed.
Alexia stayed behind. A photo hanging on the wall having caught her attention. It was one of the family when your dad played his last game as Barcelona manager.
“It’s one of my favourite photos” your presence made her jump.
“Lo siento”
“Don’t be. I’m pretty sure Pina and Patri are trying to take a selfie with one of his shirts” You pointed to where the young players where subtly trying and family to take a photo with one of your dad’s framed Barcelona shirts.
“I’ll tell them to stop” Alexia tries to walk off but you pull her back.
“It’s ok” Truth is you liked that they were being appreciated, you barely gave them a second look.
For the next couple of hours, you and your new team mates sat in the garden eating pizza and telling all kind of football tales. You understood what Alexia meant when she said the team was a family. You had only been a Barcelona player for a few hours yet you already felt part the family. You knew the biggest challenges were yet to come but in this moment you knew you made the right decision.
It wasn’t necessarily late but the team had been at training all day and you could see the girls were getting tired. Lieke must have picked up on it too because she suggested they head home.
“Wait! Before we go” Patri stood up, a glass of water in hand “Welcome to Barcelona, to Y/N” everyone cheers in your honour “And to having a Cruyff back in Barcelona”
This didn’t get the same response from you but you knew that Patri was coming from a good place.
Alexia surprisingly offered to stay and back clean. The reason why is was surprising is because there was nothing left to clean, everyone had tidied up after themselves.
“We better get started because as you can see this place is a mess”
“Ok so maybe I didn’t stay to clean up”
“No” you say sarcasticly. Your tone causes Alexia to chuckle but it is more so to cover up her shyness.
“I thought maybe I could show you a few places, if you’re not too tired” Alexia never forgot the conversation you two shared that night in Ibiza and she fully intended to show you what the city had to offer, she wanted to show you her Barcelona.
Truth is you were exhausted mentally which made doing anything except from laying of the sofa a chore. Then again this is Alexia, you did want to get to know her more and you knew you wouldn’t get the chance to once the season started.
“Ok but I can’t be out too long. You may or may not have heard but I’ve just signed for a new team and I’d like to impress them at training tomorrow”
“I’m already impressed” Alexia whispers to herself.
Barcelona was a different city at time. The street were emptier but the city couldn’t be more alive. You may have done everything in your power to stay away from it but you could understand why it is loved by so many. You tried to look at the sights with a fresh set of eyes, you wanted to make new memories and tonight those would be made with Alexia.
“Is there anywhere you want to go?” Alexia asks as she bumps into your shoulder.
“Can we just walk for a bit” She nods her head and guides you down her favourite streets, shows you some of her favourite buildings and points out a few restaurants that she wanted to take you to.
There were so many questions she wanted to ask you. The top of that list was are you ok but the answer was obvious. She also wanted to know what was going on in your head but then she wondered if even you had to answer to that.
“Can I ask you a question? Why isn’t your family here?” Lieke told her but she knew there was something more to it.
The way you stopped in your tracks made her instantly regret the question.
“Let’s go this way”
She doesn’t bring up the change of subject and within a few minutes she finds herself walking through the gothic quarter. She follows you through a narrow alleyway, one that she didn’t know existed.
“This is my favourite spot in Barcelona”
Alexia watches as you knock on a door that is in the centre of the wall and can be no bigger than half a meter. Then a couple of minutes later she sees a hand hold out a paper bag, one which you take in exchange for some money.
“This is the best kept secret and best cookies in Barcelona” you hold open the bag and watch as Alexia takes one. Her eyes close as she takes a bite, you knew what she was experiencing. You had been 6 when you were first brought here.
“Ay Dios Mio”
“Told you”
Alexia makes grabby hands and you give her the bag but not before taking a handful of the tiny cookies for yourself.
“Me playing here brings up a lot of emotions, not only for me but for them too”
At first the brunette doesn’t know what you’re talking about but then it hits her. You are answering her question, the one you do so subtly dodged.
“I asked them not to come”
“Why?”
“I don’t know. I guess I thought if they wasn’t here then I could have a normal day where I’m just a football player signing for a football club. It was naive of me”
“How is to be a Barcelona player?”
“Honestly, it’s amazing. I can’t wait to start this chapter of my life, I just hope it can be my chapter and not a part of his”
“Why can’t it be both? You are your father’s daughter, you can’t change that but you can embrace it and what better place to do so then here in Barcelona” Alexia spins around with her arms spread wide.
“Did they come up with that or did you?” You asked referring to the club.
“That was all me” Alexia says rather proudly.
The night passes by far too quickly. You had only intended to be out for an hour, two at max but now it was close to midnight and you knew it was time to call it a night. Even though you didn’t want too, you bid Alexia farewell and told her you would see her in the morning.
8 hours later you found yourself standing in front of the home ground which was all a short walk away from the training ground. You stared up at the sign and read it out loud.
ESTADI JOHAN CRUYFF
Your mind wanders to memories with only one man, the one you wishes was here for this.
“I thought I might find you here”
Of course, she knew where you’d be.
“Buenos dias Alexia”
“Are you ready?”
“Ready”
And ready you were. It was time to start the next chapter in your life. The years to come would define your career and change your life forever.

a/n: fair bit of violence this chapter, apologies that it took so long to write I’m having insane writers block, not proofread
“What do you mean Price knows” His voice was calm, he never yelled at you but for some reason you wished he was. His stoic state making you even more nervous,
“I had to tell him Simon he knew something was up”
“He didn’t know shit”
“Whatever he did, or didn’t know, or thought he knew, it doesn’t matter. He knows now, he understands why we didn’t tell him but atleast that weights of our chest”
“It’s not off our chest, what happens when he had to put it in our files? When he accidentally let’s slip that we’re married?”
“He wouldn’t do that”
“And you know that how?”
“Because you trust him, you’ve trusted him for years”
“Yea well the people you trust can hurt you the most” He says, standing to leave the room,
“Simon please, I’m sorry”
“It doesn’t matter now”
He closes the door and your emotions hit you, you regret everything about your decision to go to Price, but the sinking feeling in your chest wouldn’t let up until you told him. He had been surprised at first, he just assumed that the two of you were hooking up, he had no idea that you were married let alone knew each other prior to the mission, your file had pages about your previous ops but none mentioned the Lieutenant. Price was understanding in your secrecy, a little offended that Simon didn’t trust him with the knowledge but understanding none the less, he promised to keep it from the team no matter what and that was good enough for you.
Simon on the other hand wanted to wring the Captains neck, he could try to threaten him into sworn secrecy but he knew it wouldn’t work, he was furious. His only rule for your relationship being that it stayed between the two of you, and now it was compromised, yes he trusted Price with his life, but not with yours.
Simon marched his way to Prices office, his hands clenched at him sides as he knocked on the door, opening it once he heard the Captains voice.
“Simon”
“Sir”
“I understand congratulations are in order”
“Don’t”
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“You know why”
“I’ve read everything in your file, i know about your past, your family”
Simon winces at the mention
“You can trust me with this son”
“You need to take her off the op”
“You know you can’t make that request”
“I’m not asking as her Lieutenant”
“She’s an imperative part to this op”
“Find another sniper”
Before Price can respond Simon breezes out of the room, a cloud of fury following behind him as he storms through the halls to his shacks. He releases a deep breath, pulling his mask from his head once he’s inside. He felt betrayed, a vow as sacred as the ones you made the day you got married and you had broken it, technically he understood why, you were never great under pressure from higher ranks, he knew you couldn’t keep a lot of things to yourself given all the gossip you had told him over the years, but he trusted you with this.
He feared for you mostly, he knew he was in danger everyday, he had enemies across the globe and if word got out that you were married, a big red target would paint itself on your back. He didn’t want to think of the things his enemies would do to you in order to get to him, it made his stomach churn.
You stand in your quarters, thinking of all the things you could say, how you could apologize, and nothing comes to mind. You understand the weight of your decision but you’ve had people trying to kill your for years, you’ve made enemies of your own, you huff a breath holding yourself high.
You walk down the halls to Simons quarters before Price calls you into his office,
“Yes sir?”
“I have a favour to ask”
“Sir if it’s anything about my private life I ask that you keep it to yourself”
“It’s nothing about that Strider, trust I’ll keep that information confidential”
You nod “What do you need”
“I need recon on the building, you’re the only one with training that suits the op”
“Are you sure”
“I need the others here, you’re my only option Sargent”
“When do you need me”
“You have 3 hours to prep, a car will drop you at your view point and you’re alone from there, it’s a 3 day op but you’ll have comms”
“You need me to watch for three days?”
“There’s intel stating a transfer will occur within the week, I need your eyes to track movement”
“So no engagement”
“You do not have execute authority”
You nod, “Okay”
You leave his office, your argument with Simon gone from your mind, replaced with the anxiety of your mission. You approach his door and knock, you hear shuffling in the room before he opens it.
“Hi”
He opens the door to let you in, his head leaking out to make sure the hallways were clear. You glance around the room, his desk is a mess with open pages,
“You’re writing again?”
“Just, had some stuff I needed to get out”
“Si”
“I don’t want to fight about it, what’s done is done”
“Okay.. I’m leaving for a few days”
“What do you mean? You’re going home?”
“No”
He raises an eyebrow in question,
“Solo recon”
“Absolutely not”
“Simon please”
“Is he trying to punish me for not telling him about us?”
“What are you talking about”
“He’s sending you out alone, to punish me”
“Simon no one’s punishing you, this is the reason Price asked for me”
“I don’t want you out there with no backup”
“I’ll have comms to the base, I won’t be close enough for them to get anywhere near me”
Simon’s skin heats with anger, you move toward him, hands holding his at his side as you try to calm him.
“I’ll do this, then i’ll go home” You say with a heavy breath. You feel his muscles loosen slightly, his head moving down so his eyes can stare into yours, those dark orbs so full of emotion.
“Three days” He says and you nod, bringing your cheek to rest against his chest, his hands moving to roam your back.
“Three days and i’m back home”
“Safe” He mutters, his arms holding you against him.
You leave Simons room a few minutes later, bidding your goodbyes before moving to your quarters to pack your gear. You have 20 minutes before you have to meet your car, you’re breathing deeply, the mission wasn’t rare to you, spending time alone peering from rooftops was practically half your job in your last team, but being there, knowing Simon was only so far away. You knew he risked his life every time he left, you never asked the details, you didn’t want to stress about every little thing, this felt different, you were so close yet so far apart, you throw your bag over your shoulder and walk towards the outer doors.
Ghost is standing beside the car, his arms crossed over his chest.
“What are you doing here”
“I’m driving you, Captain owed me a favour”
You scoff at him jokingly before loading into the vehicle, as the two of you drive off. Your position wasn’t that far, about a 40 minute drive till you got dropped off and had to walk the rest of the way.
“Keep channel 4 open, that’s where you’ll contact me”
“I’m only supposed to talk to Price”
“Keep it open” He says with a glare, his gloved hand moving to rest on your thigh. You watch the terrain pass you by as you keep driving, dry mountains breezing past your eyesight. You arrive at an dirt road and Ghost turns the engine off, he sits silently for a few minutes, his free hand roaming across the wheel before you turn your body, taking his hand in yours.
“It’ll be okay”
“I know”
“I’m very good at what I do”
“I know that too”
“I’ll see you in three days”
He huffs a breath and nods, hands moving to pull his mask up slightly before leaning in to kiss you, he holds your cheek deepening the kiss before pulling back and resting his forehead against yours.
“Just be careful”
You squeeze his hand tenderly before stepping out of the car and grabbing your gear.
“I love you” You say
“I love you too doll”
You begin walking away, while Ghosts sits in the car until your figure fades from view, there was nothing he could do now but leave, he had to trust you.
Your walk was harsh, the dry terrain mixed with the beaming sun doing damage to your lungs, huffing your way across the ground before you made it to the small city, navigating around back alleys. You locate your view point, climbing an outer ladder to reach the top, sneaking into an open window where you position yourself, your scope settling on the target building in the distance.
“Alpha leader this is Strider how copy?”
“Good copy Strider, are you in position”
“Affirm”
“Alright, keep eyes, take note of any movement in or out, I want a head count”
“Copy, out”
You settle in to your position, eyes locked onto the building for signs of movement. Hours pass without anyone going in or out, you’ve traded your scope for spotting binoculars as the sun went down slowly, the warm air encompassing you in the abandoned building. No movement anywhere that you could see, no cars, no people, you had no idea what you were looking for.
Night falls and you have to toss your visionary aids aside, relying on trying to spot lights from the building, there’s a single room illuminated, you can see through the window but you can’t make out any bodies. You return to your scope in hopes of recognizing someone in the room, watching but you see no shadows or movement.
“Strider how copy?” Ghosts voice rings through your comms.
“Hey babe”
“Keep it professional, may have prying ears”
“Copy”
“You alright”
“No movement, getting bored”
“Bored is better than dead”
You huff a laugh, “That’s true”
“How are things on base?”
“Price wants us shipping out in the morning”
“So you’ll be gone when I get back”
“Most likely”
“Alright” You try to hide the sadness in your voice
“He thinks the mission should be finished within the the next weeks”
“Oh”
“I’ll be home with you before you know it”
“I’ll be waiting”
“I have to go, be safe”
“I love you Simon”
“I’ll see you at home”
You smile, only a handful of days and you’d be back home, safe with your husband, not worrying about the state of his life, just enjoying being with eachother.
“Strider this is Price”
“Sir”
“Reports of a convoy moving near your position, do you have eyes”
You take a minute too look around, your scope landing on a group of trucks passing by a road.
“Copy, count 5 vehicles”
“Are they carrying anything”
“Negative, doesn’t look to be any cargo”
“What about people”
“Count maybe 17 men, all armed”
“Do you see our hostage”
“Sir I thought this was recon”
“Do you have eyes Strider”
You look around, “Sir is that?”
“Affirm, you see her?”
“Affirm Sir, I have eyes on the hostage, she’s bound, they’re moving her into the house”
“Copy, keep watch, do not engage under any circumstances”
“Copy Sir”
Your comms go silent as you watch the scene in front of you, a middle aged woman with blonde hair has her arms bound behind her, a cloth mask over her eyes as the group of men force her towards the building before disappearing inside. You aim your scope at the windows, trying to get a view but all the curtains are drawn, you can vaguely make out shadows passing by.
You watch as the figures look by the windows, they sit the women down in a chair, 3 men gathered around her. You can’t make anything out, adjusting your scope to get a closer look before your eyes sting from the light, one of the men had opened the curtains to look outside, leaving them that way, enough space for you to get a clear view.
They’re yelling something, speaking to each other, you watch the woman tremble and flinch every time one of them shouts. You know your orders but every bone in your body is urging you to help.
“Sir permission to assist”
“Negative, do not interfere”
“Captain they’re going to kill her”
“Your orders are to watch Sargent”
“Sir”
“Do not engage”
You think over your options, your instincts taking over, fuck it I’m off the team either way.
You race down the side of the building, disassembling your rifle for close range shots, your legs are moving faster than your mind as you sprint towards the building, you find a high point and settle into the grass. There’s atleast 15 hostiles in the building, you scope around, 7 outside scattered, you can pick them off.
“Strider, report”
“Sorry Sir”
You take your ear piece out, with a deep breath you push yourself from the ground, hastily moving through the darkness, advancing towards the house. You make your way around the back, pulling out your knife, one man turns the corner and you grab him, digging your knife into the side of his neck as his body drops.
You make your way around the perimeter, killing them one by one, your breath heavy for the exertion. You find the last man, your hand moving to cover his mouth as you slice his throat, the blood pouring from his wound coating your skin seven down, eight to go. Your whole body feels sticky, covered in a layer of blood, sweat and dirt as you wipe off your knife, putting it away in favour of your sidearm.
You attach the silencer and open the front doors, immediately firing off two rounds into the heads of the men.
six
You turn your body, peering around corners, there’s one in the kitchen.
five
You clear the bottom floor, slowly inching up the stairs, one at the top and you shoot him, his body falls down the steps, landing with a thud, you pray it wasn’t loud enough to alert anyone. You start upstairs, clearing the rooms, two are arguing in the office.
two left.
You clear the rest of the area, making your way to the large bedroom at the end of the hall, even through the men arguing you can hear Prices yells through your comms.
You take a breath, counting your bullets, you had three left. You open the door firing one off into the head of the man in front of you, the woman in the chair screaming as the shot rings through the air.
You move to fire at the other man but he grabs your hand, you miss. He pushes you to the ground, your bodies fighting for control as his weight pins you, your arms reach for your gun as his hands grasp around your throat. You’re thrashing under him trying to throw him off, choking for air as he tightens his grip.
Your vision spotty as you lose strength,
“Strider! Get out now!” Ghosts voice comes through your comms, enough to bring you back as your fingers feel for your weapon, grabbing it and hitting it against the man’s temple. He releases you, stumbling over your body as you brave yourself and shoot, his body falls onto you with a thud, his blood pooling around your head as you gasp for air.
You use all your strength to push him off, steadying yourself before stepping towards the woman, she’s writhing against her constraints.
“It’s okay, you’re safe, i’m gonna get you out”
You slowly pull the mask from her eyes, they’re bloodshot and pooled with tears.
“I’m with Captain Price, I’m gonna get you home”
She’s a wreck of choked sobs as you cut her constraints, her body falls against you as you hold her up, walking her out. She’s looking around as the mess of bodies, clinging to you as you descent the stairs.
You exit the building, walking slowly in tandem with her as you reach a patch of grass tall enough for cover.
“Here, sit down” You hand her a small bottle of water and she takes it with shaky hands, gulping down the liquid before settling.
“Thank you”
“Does she know you’re here” You ask
The woman nods, “She watched them take me”
Your hand moves to slowly caress her arm, a small attempt to comfort her.
“Price”
“Sergeant you better have a goddamn explanation”
“I have the hostage, she’s safe”
Price signs deeply, “Are you hurt”
“Negative”
“Get her to the city, we’ll extract from there”
“Copy Sir”
You sit for a while, allowing the woman to compose herself before you help her up, the two of you making your way back to the streets of Panama.
The noise was overwhelming, a stark contrast from the silence you kept the last 24 hours, you find an old building, smashing the window to access the door lock before guiding her in.
“Shouldn’t be long”
She nods
“Does she know I’m safe, does Kate know?”
“I don’t think so”
“Okay”
Ghosts voice calls through your earpiece, “Strider, what’s you position”
“In an old building, northeast end of the city, there’s a small restaurant across the street”
“Copy, closing in”
You wait in silence, the sound of tires passing over dirt grabs your attention, you move to the window to look outside. You see Price and Ghost exit the car, looking around for hostiles, you move back to settle at the woman’s side,
“Okay” You touch her shoulder
“Monica, my names Monica”
“Okay Monica, my team is here, they’re gonna bring you back to our base where the doctor will check you out, then we’ll get you home”
“You trust them?”
“With my life”
She nods, you lock your arms under her shoulders, helping her to stand as the two men enter the building, dropping their weapons when they spot you.
“Jesus christ Strider, did you kill then all yourself”
“Something like that”
Price takes over hold on Monica, helping her to the car as Simon stands in front of you, his eyes staring daggers.
“Si”
“I don’t want to hear it, you’ll go home tonight”
“What, I have to make sure she’s safe”
“The team will take over, you disobeyed direct orders. You’re going home Sargent”
You stand to argue but he just turns and leaves, you’re alone in your anger before you walk to the car, settling in beside Monica in the back as Price turns the engine on. The ride was dead silent, not a word exchanged between the four of you, Monica had stopped shaking by the time you arrived back at base.
You help her out of the car, moving to help her inside before Price stops you,
“Your flights in two hours, be on deck before then”
You stare at him, unable to hide the disappointment in your face as you walk to the medical wing. You get Monica settled in to the bed and she falls asleep almost instantly, the stress taking a toll on her body. You sit with her for a few minutes, ensuring that she was okay before you move to your room to shower.
The water runs red as you wash the blood from your skin, feeling like you could finally breath, you need to talk to Simon but you don’t know what to say. You know if you leave base angry it won’t do you any good, he didn’t do well with emotions, he’d bottle them up before even dating to expose himself.
You spend some time packing your things, making sure to grab everything, your hands toying with the ring around your neck making your way to the plane deck.
Simon is standing in front of your plane, you move to him with regret in your eyes, your arms wrapping to envelop him but he pushes you back.
“Keep it together”
“I’m sorry Si”
“No time for that now” His hand moves to grab yours, his thumb rubbing tender circles over the skin. “I’ll see you at home”
He leaves without another word, you watch his form recede before stepping into the plane, the sound of the engine drowning out anything else before you feel yourself lift into the air. You’re filled with dread as you watch the base get smaller, you won’t be able to contact your husband for upwards of a month, and your last memory is him mad at you, you hated arguing in any form.
You lean your head back, settling in as the plane reaches the clouds, closing your eyes in an attempt to dream of anything but your anxiety.

Morning comes, and Eddie finds Steve sitting on the edge of the bed. He’s pulling his underwear on, slowly sliding them up his legs like he’s trying not to jostle the mattress too much. Eddie watches him for a second while he wakes up more, eyes threatening to shut again.
Steve turns and sees Eddie looking at him, and he looks surprised, like he’s been caught in some kind of act.
“Hey,” Eddie murmurs. He rolls onto his back and looks up at the ceiling.
“Morning,” Steve whispers back. He’s pulling on his socks now.
Like he’s going to leave.
“Where are you going?” Eddie asks.
Steve sighs. “Dustin missed the bus. I’ll come back after I drive him, okay? I’ll make it up to you.”
Eddie nods, pulls the blanket up to his chest. “Did he call here?”
“Walkie-Talkie,” Steve answers, picking up the device from beside him on the floor. “Surprised it didn’t wake you.”
Eddie shrugs and turns over onto his side again, curling up beneath his blankets. “Tell him to start setting his alarms an hour early if he’s going to do the ten-step Steve Harrington hair routine every morning.”
“He doesn’t,” Steve protests. “He said he couldn’t find the cat and panicked. You know, the last one got eaten so he’s worried about that shit.”
“That’s what he wants you to think!” Eddie says. “I bet you twenty bucks and a gram of weed he smells like your Farrah Fawcett hairspray and has his hair piled ten feet high when he gets in your car.”
“Okay first of all, Farah Fawcett hairspray has been discontinued for, like, two years. I don’t even have any of my own stock left. Can’t find it anywhere, no way Dustin’s got any left. And second, how do you know about that?”
“Oh, Stevie, baby,” Eddie croons. “I didn’t, not until now. You just confirmed it, though.”
Steve rolls his eyes and huffs. He stands and finds his jeans from last night, and then picks up a sweatshirt off Eddie’s floor.
“I’m borrowing this,” Steve says as he pulls it over his head. His head comes out of the hole. “But seriously, man, how’d you know about the hair spray?”
“Okay, fine,” Eddie says. “Nancy told me.”
“She was sworn to secrecy!”
Eddie laughs. “You better go drive him before he’s late for school, man. Wake me when you get back.”
He wakes up again to Steve coming in through the bedroom door. He has his wallet in his hand when Eddie opens his eyes, sees Steve opening it to pull something out, and then a twenty dollar bill is being tossed toward Eddie.
“I don’t have a gram of weed,” Steve says, petulantly. “But, to be clear, it wasn’t the Steve Harrington hair routine.”
“No?” Eddie asks, taking the money and dropping it on the nightstand. He slides his rings on top of it to keep it weighed down.
“No,” Steve says, kicking off his jeans. He throws himself into Eddie’s bed and burrows himself under the blankets. “He’s doing the Eddie hair routine now.”
“What, get out of the shower and rub it with a towel until it’s dry?” Eddie jokes.
Steve wraps his arms around Eddie’s waist and drags him in.
“Fuck you, man,” Steve huffs. “I know you take care of your hair. I love your fucking hair.”
Eddie smiles a bit sadly and buries his face in Steve’s throat. Hair has always been a thing for him. Complicated at best. He likes where he’s at now, but it’s always been complicated, trying to get where he is.
A discussion for another time, maybe, because Steve is pressing kisses to his head and letting his hands wander a bit.
The hands wander a bit too much for eight in the morning, but Eddie finds himself not really caring at all. Not when it feels this good. Not when Steve can make him forget all the thoughts that creep back up on him when he starts to think about those complicated things.

Suspended comfortably like a womb and slowly riding the currents, I stilled my mind.  The ocean’s cool embrace allowed me to float effortlessly in its depths.
All around gradients of aqua, azure, and lapis blue fading into one another.
The rays of the sun playing upon ripples of the surface above.
Deep dark blackness down under.
As above, so below...
Holding my breath for so long was second nature.  Had been since I was young.  Reaching a suspended stasis where a fresh breath of oxygen would only be needed once an hour.
When my body signals the need to breathe, I can let go of the Force and slowly drift up to the surface, stopping just short of it.  With precise muscle control only allowing my nose to rise just above the water line...
...exhale fully, inhale...filling my lungs to capacity...
Then drift down again into the depths of the ocean.
I don't even need to open my eyes or actively swim to accomplish this.
Tumblr media
I had arrived on Pabu that afternoon.  Getting intel from many different outlets to find a safe haven.  Seemed like FOREVER before I was able to get the coordinates.  And sworn to secrecy upon my very life.
The island's Mayor, Shep Hazard, was kind and welcoming.  He offered to introduce me to the inhabitants of Pabu.  I politely declined for now.  He nodded with a knowing look.
Before I could face ANYONE else...
I had to face MYSELF.
From there I walked with purpose to the soft sandy beach of this island paradise and sat upon its shores attempting to meditate.  It's beauty a wonderful home, the people upon it frolicking, working, LIVING instead of merely SURVIVING.
A testament to what COULD BE in the universe.  A wonderful sight to behold.
Unfortunately...too much of a distraction for now.
So, I got up and moved to a more secluded area.  The walk slow, deliberate: a pre-meditative process before going into Force Stasis.
Noting the soft, grainy texture of the sand beneath my feet and between my toes.  The island breeze caressing my body, causing the hooded robe to dance in the breeze.  The sounds of sea birds, crashing waves...smell of the surf, sand, breeze, warmth of my own skin in the sun...
...the sun...
The sun slowly lowering down to touch the horizon.  The earth and sea caressing each other with each successive wave.   The wind quietly sings as it brushes over and through the landscape.
Soon, the moon will rise...and she will advance towards the sun in transit.
Two lovers who continually pass each other and will for an eternity, never able to touch.
Such a metaphor of a Jedi’s yearning for love...and physical bonding.
I’m struggling to hold my composure...
He was a clone.
Even though it wasn’t his mutation, he could perceive my feelings for him.  Of course, I could easily pick up his.
It was as natural as breathing.
Spending so much time together: planetside, in war, the barracks, during idle downtime.
One day he came to me, taking my hand into his...asking if our lives could be intertwined... forever.
Holding back the intensity of emotion was extremely difficult.  I DESIRED this more than anything in the galaxy but had to keep it close to my heart.  Tamp it down.  Not allow it to run away with my feelings, or become too much of an attachment
He openly wept when I explained that the Jedi Council would NEVER allow such things...and that he was property of the Republic.
We both had NO control of each other’s destiny.
I could FEEL his heart breaking.  But even after my gentle rebuke, he still carried a warm and intimate devotion for me.  My fleeting glances and body language telling him I felt the same way.
Both of us YEARNING for something more.  Something freer than what our respective societal roles would allow.   I fondly remember his kind eyes, jovial laugh, gentle ways despite having the strength of twenty men.
But THAT is ancient history.  Kamino City lies on the bottom of another ocean and The Jedi Order is dead...
And the clones???
Their minds were taken by SOMETHING insidious and beyond their control.  All of them killers, missing, and forgotten by history.
I BARELY escaped with my life.
And now, I have found a safe place with that one similarity to home that I crave...
The ocean.
Tears leaked out of my eyes, mixing with the salty water of the sea, eliminating their very presence.
A large school of rays swam past sensing melancholy, fluttered and swam around my body.  Caressing my skin, attempting to pull me away from my grief.
I reached out with the Force thanking them for their care...as they glided away in the deep blue.
It had taken me a while to find the right spot on the beach.
To move onto the next chapter of my life, I carefully disrobed, folding my clothes neatly, placing them on top my boots, then relinquishing my light saber...
...slowly stepping onto the surf, swimming out, and sinking into the depths of the planet's womb.
Tumblr media
The waters eventually darkened to black.  The only visibility from the full moon filtering her dim light through the depths upon my floating body.
Something large circled me.  Far out, but slowly coming closer. Sizing me up with its hunger.
I continued to float quietly, taking note of its lazy, deliberate orbit.
Reaching out I registered its emotionless presence, driven to exist and feed.  I attempted to speak with it through the Force, but its brain was almost mechanical and not registering my thoughts.
There was NO fear in my heart.  This was not evil, just nature.
If indeed the Force meant for me to meet my end here on Pabu, how could I fight it?
Everything lives.  Everything dies.  The Wheel of Life continues.
My light saber resting upon the shore, out of reach.  If I thrashed about to swim, surely it would advance faster.
I calmly waited to meet my fate.
Tumblr media
Eventually the presence circled closer.  I catch fleeting glimpses of pale scarred skin.
It’s HUGE.
With another pass the shark’s snout comes into view: Large jagged teeth poke out of its mouth, and a black impassive eye stares back into mine...
...where I can see my reflection.
It glides past gracefully and before swimming away...
...bumps me...
It’s jagged skin opening mine...
A small stream of blood wafts away in the current.
I refuse to struggle, keeping still, silent.
The shark keeps swimming, then pauses a millisecond...
Swiftly it turns and slams into me with brute force.  Knocking out my literal breath.  Swallowing water and reaching out intuitively I find its snout.  Trying in VAIN to reach out with the Force...
But...I’m drowning...
Large jaws thrash.  I can feel the concussive force of them closing even in the water.
It’s pushing me back attempting to catch my arms, legs, body...
I hold fast pushing against its snout.
Those black empty eyes staring into my SOUL...
Until one of them explodes into a mess of blood and tissue.  Two more shots hit it in the face.  Something breaks the surface of the water, bubbles trailing behind it, jackknifing towards the shark.
The shark retreats, slamming me HARD with its tail.
As my vision and consciousness starts to wane, a second something...someone...breaches the surface of the water...coming right for me.  I black out before I can tell who...
Tumblr media
The next thing I register is vomiting seawater on someone’s hand as they pull me up while gripping the front of my tank top.
My sinuses, throat, and lungs burn from the seawater.  I'm coughing and struggling for breath...then look up.
“CT...”  I cough again “TECH???  Is... that YOU???”
“Of course.  Who else would I BE?” He’s wet, in swim trunks, wiping my vomit off his hand with a towel...then pulls at the bottom of his goggles to empty any water.
Crosshair stands behind him, smug expression, holding his rifle. “Picked a GREAT time to go swimming.”
“YOU’RE a sight for sore eyes!” Echo smiles and waves with his scomp.
I cough and spit some more.  Sitting in a boat...
“HOW...when...I have SO many questions...Where’s Wrecker???”
The boys grin.
Then I hear him.  His BIG voice booming across the water, excited as a puppy.  Barely able to contain himself...approaching in another boat...thirty feet away.
I’ve held back for too long. Jedi Code BE DAMNED!
Exhilaration, freedom, ALL the emotions launched me up from that boat and into the darkness...
Force Jumping into the arms of the man I LOVE!!!
He caught me.  He KNEW where I’d be.  No faltering in his desire to be there...to catch me.
I’m holding onto him with all my strength, kissing that beautiful bald head, down his cheeks...
He gently grabs my face with his powerful hands, bringing it around to kiss him deeply...
Somewhere in the back of my senses I hear Tech...
“Careful, she just vomited...er...ugh...”
Crosshair...laughing?  Maker, he sounds like a defective GOOSE!
Wrecker’s lips pull away from mine.  We stare into each other’s eyes.
“You’re REALLY here.”  He still can’t believe it.
“Yes...and I’m staying...if you’ll have me.”
“Forever?”
“Forever.”
“I’ll TAKE IT!”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
EPILOGUE
Tech, Echo, and Crosshair watch as the second boat speeds away towards shore.  Shep smiling proudly as he mans the engine.
Wrecker and his Jedi love with their arms intertwined, laughing...
...the happiest they had ever seen their brother.  The Batch watch them go.
“Where’s Hunter?” Crosshair inserts a toothpick into his mouth.
Tech and Echo stare at each other alarmingly...he NEVER came up to the surface...
Echo grabs a flashlight from his hip and shines it over the edge of the boat.
A HUGE sharp toothed head emerges from the deep RIGHT IN ECHO’S FACE!
“OHHHHSHHHIIIIIIIIIT!!!”  Echo jumped up and fell backwards onto the floor of the boat.
The brothers hear a smoky laugh...somewhere out there... in the darkness.
“KARKSDAMMIT, HUNTER!  Pissed myself!!!” Echo yells.
“Confirmed.  Pissed himself.  Can SMELL it.”  Hunter remarks as he pushed up out of the water and flopped into the boat...wet hair and all.  He had tied the dead shark to their boat to take to land for butchering purposes.
“Well SOMEONE had to get themselves into trouble several hours into one credit beer night!”  Echo grumped.
“Could have just whipped it out and pissed over the side of the boat.” Crosshair smirked.
“I’ll remember to do that NEXT TIME we're speeding along and I’m in FRONT of you.”
Tech gazed at Echo and Crosshair like he didn’t recognize them.  “That...is disgusting.”
Hunter chuckled, pulled up the seat storage compartment to take out an extra pair of swim shorts, tossing them to Echo.
Echo sighed. “Thanks, vod.”
Crosshair settled into the navigator's seat, waiting for Echo to change...
...then FLOORED the engine before Echo could pull up the clean pair of swim trunks around his ankles.
A VERY surprised bare-assed Echo grabbed ahold of Tech for balance as both collapsed into the boat!
Hunter toppled off the back and rode the dead shark all the way to the docks!
Crosshair honked as he laughed his ass off...

do hazbin for the meme!
Kisses you on the forehead. Thank you. ❤️
Who's the most ticklish character:
I just want to say all of them!!! That's like picking a favourite!
My twisted little heart is thinking about Lucifer. Most powerful being in Hell, brought to his knees by a little fluttering? Who doesn't love that trope?!
I think he's one big ticklish spot; and Charlie definitely took after him in that regard. The apple doesn't fall far. ❤️
Who's the character that most people would assume is ticklish, but actually isn't:
They're all ticklish. Don't come here with that nonsense.
Who's the character that everyone gangs up on and tickles:
Sir Pentious! My little guy! This man can't catch a goddamn break. I think his friends(found family aw) gangs up on him quite frequently. He just makes it so easy. Actively turning all the way around to look away, whenever anyone tickles someone in the hotel. He can't stand the sight! It makes his whole body tingle! And if he looks, he looks hard. It makes everyone uncomfortable. You're unsettling, Pent!
His friends gang up on him if he stares too hard. Let him have his fill, even if he screams and claims he isn't at all ticklish! He hates it, in fact(no he doesn't).
Who's the character that somehow knows everyone else's tickle spots and reveals them to others:
I feel like Vox has gained that nugget of information by happenstance. He has camera's everywhere in Hell, and has everything filed away accordingly. I don't think he's a freak about it, but if he finds out that someone he has beef with is ticklish, he will either use it as blackmail or just straight up broadcast it, as if anyone else but him gives a shit. He's petty as hell. He shares the information with Velvette as well, so she can post about it on Sinstergram. You know she lives for public humiliation.
Who's the character with one specific tickle spot that only one other person knows about:
My first thought was Niffty being close enough to Alastor to know this. But while they're very sweet together, the honor goes to Rosie. Sweet Rosie is handsy as hell with Al, and you can't convince me that he hasn't had her hands in his hair. Gracing her long fingernails over his ears; hearing a stiffled snort as a reward. No one must know. Rosie is chatty and loves some hot gossip, but this one thing she has sworn to secrecy. She loves dear Al too much to embarrass him like that. But you know she has gone for the kill a couple of times; just to remind him who he's sassing at.
Who's the most likely to win gang tickle wars:
My heart says Angel, but my brain says Alastor. Angel because six arms isn't something to sneeze at. And he's way more likely to engage.
But Alastor has his tentacles... Yeah. He would wreck shop. He just doesn't play that game very often. But holy shit, is he smug about it when he does. Tickle king.
Which character has a kink for tickling:
Valentino. Hello. The man who wears all the hats. I think every character is plenty capable of having a tickle kink, but I'm putting my money on the moth. You want soft and sweet? You came to the wroooong place! He sucks. Doesn't believe in safe words. It's just tickling. Don't be dramatic.
Which character didn't even know they were ticklish until another character tickled them:
Sweet Husk. Oh, I love him. Not really into the whole... Physical affection thing(yeah, right). While I have a hard time believing that he went through life never getting tickled, maybe he isn't aware of his demon form still being ticklish. And it might've startled him when Angel(of course) graced his fingers over the pads in his hand. Angel didn't catch on then, be he for sure found out later and felt cheated out of so many lost opportunities to tickle his precious bartender! The absolute audacity to keep that secret!
Which two characters have tickle fights all the time:
It's a tie between Charlie and Vaggie / Angel and Cherri!
Charlie instigates tickle fights every goddamn night before bed and I can't be convinced otherwise. She'll get hyperactive when she gets ready for bed, and needs a few minutes of dumb fun before she can get some sleep. Vaggie would pretend she hated it, but has since accepted Charlie's routine and even instigates a fight, if she happens to get into her pajamas, before Charlie. Plus, it's nice to help Charlie relax after a stressful day of rehabilitation.
Angel and Cherri trusts each other with their lives(quite literally) and that also means that they trust each other with their most secret spots.
Angel is unmatched in tickle fights! Six arms comes to good use; but he doesn't always use all six, only because he wants to at least give Cherri a fighting chance to win. She rarely does, tho. Cherri is explosive in her personality and loves to start shit, even if she knows she'll lose. Angel has since pointed it out and teases her about wanting to get wrecked.
She started fighting back with more vigor after that. She isn't allowed to touch his feet tho. Fuck off.

Spawn! Astarion x Durge
So, if Durge denies Bhaal, they become immortal (Withers says Durge is alive while Withers is, and Withers is a god of death). Now, Astarion and Durge are an immortal couple, and death can't separate them.
But living with someone for a long time can be bothersome. Imagine a century, two centuries. They start to annoy each other and decide to take a break.
Each goes to live their own life. Astarion as a spawn, and Durge as Jergal's champion.
Another two centuries pass. Durge grows lonely (as does Astarion). Their hearts long for each other, but they have no idea where their lover is. This temporal break-up was painful, and they didn't agree on a time and place to meet again. Actually, they had been so fed up with each other, that sincerely decided not to meet ever again.
You are a monster hunter, known throughout Faerun for your successful endeavors against trolls, giants, dragons, vampires, and more. One day, you enter a tavern to get a quest, and one is available (and well-paid).
You need to find an extremely dangerous and powerful vampire called Astarion. Not to kill, just to locate his whereabouts.
The contractor looks friendly and kind, and they tell you how strong and unpredictable this Astarion is. You get a feeling that it's very personal, but it's not your job to criticize people who pay money.
You spend a few years searching and finally locate Astarion, far, far away. He is an undercover boss of a pirate freehold. Almost no one sees him, but he has been running this place for many decades. You wouldn't dare to attack him (since there is a horde of pirates on his side, and you suspect he isn't the only vampire there) so you return to the contractor with the news.
"Well, now you want us to kill him?"
"I want to come with you."
Again, it's weird. Why does this contractor want to come with you all this way? It's definetely something personal. They probably want to kill Astarion themselves, but why?
You keep hearing stories about his cruelty and manipulative techniques during the journey. But suddenly, you get a feeling that no one would speak this way about their sworn enemy.
You finally arrive at the place. You warn the contractor not to do anything strange and to wait until you finish with Astarion.
Then there he is, alone in the stairway with his best daggers. You feel the danger looming from him. The contractor takes a step, and you don't protest. It's going to be a duel.
"Tav!" the vampire yells. "Tav, is that truly you?"
And your contractor loses all their aura of power and secrecy, running to Astarion with open arms. They fall into each other's embrace, laughing and crying like young lovers.
You can only hear pieces of sentences: "I missed you" and "Where have you been all these years?"
Two immortals. Two immortal lovers. They parted two centuries ago, tired and angry with each other, but now their love and passion are reborn, and they feel the same way they did many years ago while hiding at the inn in Baldur's Gate.
"Well, will you pay us?" you reluctantly ask the contractor, who suddenly looks very young.
"Yeah, sure. You found my husband, so the contract is fulfilled," Durge stands on their feet. Astarion shrugs and throws you a bag of coins and jewels - a much more considerable sum than you were promised. "Take your money and leave; you did the job."
You and your companions look at Durge and Astarion as they hold each other's hands and discuss the centuries they spent apart.
Leaving the strange couple, you hear them giggling.
"Darling, please, don't hire monster hunters to find me next time."
"Just don't hide then."
"I missed you."
"I missed you too."

an opportunist
(part 1 to clandestined or the one where matty piques your interest.)
content: mentions of drugs and alcohol, no smut but heavy petting, matty’s insufferable, matty is also george’s best friend, slight age gap (3 years), and bending of irl timelines
a/n: special thanks to @hereyeswerefilledwiththestars for inspo and for letting me rattle my silly little ideas to you.
matty healy is nothing if not insufferable.
his very presence evokes a roll from your eyes and scoff from your lips nine times out of ten. he’s got an ego that often takes up all the air in the room. he’s always jumping down your throat, always has to be the one that wins every argument (you always give him a fight, though, never one to back down too easily), and always has to have the last word.
matty healy is insufferable. but he’s also your older brother, george’s best friend.
it started when you were thirteen. george had accumulated a new friend group and a new after-school hobby of playing the drums so loud you thought your ears were going to bleed. with george came matty by association, the boy a few years your senior and george’s best friend. he had curly hair and lanky limbs, and he always smelled a bit like weed when he would kiss you sweetly on the cheek and hug you hello. and when george tells your mum he’s joining a band and has to trek over to the healy residence five days a week, she tells him that he can go anywhere he wants so long as you go with him because realistically how much trouble can a group of teenage boys get into when there’s a thirteen-year-old thrown into the mix. in truth, the answer is a lot, but you were sworn to secrecy with a few crisp bills and the promise that when not if they make it big they’ll have a chapter dedicated to you in the tell-all book. it’s enough to keep your lips sealed, plus you get a place to go after school to kill time and get homework done. though george is begrudgingly dragging you along, matty never once batted an eyelash. he embraced your presence, welcomed your ideas, and made you feel special (all before joining in as the other guys held you down and shoved worms in your face until you cried and begged to go home). but you felt special, nonetheless.
matty healy is insufferable and your older brother’s best friend. but he’s also the long-term object of your desires.
while george slowly grew out of his distaste for your presence at band rehearsals and gigs and grew into the adoring and protective older brother you have now, matty planted his seeds in your brain. he was george’s friend first, but with that came the extension of him being another older brother figure to you. he was a good listener (when he wanted to be) and gave sound unbiased advice. when he spoke to you, he kept eye contact and made you feel like he was really listening (even if he wasn’t he was good at keeping up the charade). and when you would mindlessly ramble about some stupid boy in your science class or how much you hated the switch from lime to green apple skittles, he was good at making you feel like your opinion mattered- even if he would take the piss out of it all when you left. he made you blush when he complimented your hair or your outfit. and when the other guys would make fun of your heated cheeks and bashful gaze, matty wouldn’t join in. instead he would tell them to fuck off, and would flash you a cheeky smile. he was equal parts annoying and fascinating.
he’s always been the one, you’ve known that much since you were sixteen. you admit that to your roommates one night after a few glasses of wine and a conversation about lost loves. and though they tease you about it until your cheeks burn and you’re hiding your face in your hands. they tell you to go for it, to just bite the bullet and confess already. but that’s a loaded request. he’s matty, probably only seeing you as a direct extension of his best friend and you’re you, said direct extension that hasn’t been around recently due to the stress of work and classes. you haven’t realistically been in his presence since last christmas, you presume, minus all of the gigs you attended and george’s birthday party. it’s silly really. the way he still has you blushing and giddy all these years later. you chalk it up to the wine, though. especially when you’re scrolling through your socials later and see a few posts of matty belligerent on george’s story and it turns your stomach a bit. but people often mistake butterflies for moths, right?
you keep telling yourself that over and over as the brisk wind whips around you while you weave in and out of cars and you’re pulling your jacket tighter around your chest. the occasional horn blares at you, but you satiate it with a flip of your finger. you have places to go, people to see, drinks to consume and you’re running late. they have to be at least getting on stage for their set now, meaning you’ve missed the ceremonial pre-gig toke and you know you’re going to get the stink eye from all of them for it. the four of them, especially matty, are big on their traditions, citing some karmic return if they’re not completed. you just hope it all goes well so the blame doesn’t fall onto your shoulders, as it playfully often does.
when you approach the club, the line is already wrapped around the block. so much so that you can barely make out the dark facade of the building. you’re groaning. time is ticking away and four oversized toddlers are going to rip you a new one if you’re not in there and fast. through some bribing and squeezing and lying and smiling, you make it toward the middle of the line; the door is visible and you can vaguely see the bouncer checking id’s. you’re thanking a bunch of religious deities at this point.
“sorry, we’re at capacity and the show’s about to start.” the bouncer rips you from your self-reflective glee. your eyes widen immediately, a plethora of pleas babbling out of you.
“no, no, no. you don’t understand, my brother’s in the band and he’s gonna be so fucking pissed at me. i need to get in there,” you plead, eyes big. you’re trying to connect with the bouncer at some level at this point, eyes scanning for a name tag, something, anything. “c’mon,” you try, “daniel, you get it right?”
his eyes soften, giving you a once over.
“yeah i get it,” here it is, your golden opportunity, “now go get in line with the other sisters, wives, girlfriends, and boyfriends over there,” he nods his head over to the line of people behind you who were also denied entry. you groan, defeated.
the one night you want to go out and you’re stuck warding off frostbite in a skirt that’s too short, a jacket that’s hardly even warm enough, and the stupid, uncomfortable-heeled boots that your roommate let you borrow. calling george would be a moot point by now, but you try it anyway. as predicted, his phone goes straight to voicemail. you try a few more times, but each time it follows the same route. you wallow for a few minutes, trying to ward off the frustrated tears that have already started to sting at the corners of your eyes.
“no, dude. i don’t know where she is. yeah, i’ll keep looking, calm your balls,” a familiar voice is pinging through the air and before you can even turn your head, there’s an even more familiar mop of curly hair in front of you.
“found you. where’s my reward?” matty grins, pulling you into a tight bear hug. if it was any other time, you probably would have shoved him off and pinched his arm. but he’s warm and smells good and you’re still freezing. “we thought you bailed on us!” he confesses, and you can tell there’s a hint of disappointment in his voice.
“me? never. the train was late, the knob at the door won’t let me in, and it’s cold. and i’m pretty sure i almost got hit by a car coming walking over here,” you groan. he pulls away and you almost want to cry as he takes the warmth with him.
“no wonder you’re cold. look at you!,” matty chides, “really, look at you.” his voice falters as he mumbles the echo of his words prior.
he gets a once over at you. his eyes lingering on you a little longer than usual, darkening a bit at the sight in front of him. you suck in a breath, feeling your cheeks burn and your skin prick with goosebumps. matty’s eyes trace you again and in a self-conscious fit, you wrap your arms around yourself. there’s a familiar feeling bubbling in your stomach, those god-damned moths won’t let you have a break.
“let’s get you inside, yeah?”
you nod in return, fingers intertwining with his as he leads you to the front of the line again. you flash the bouncer a smile and he only rolls his eyes in return.
it’s crowded inside. the crowd is at least twenty people deep on the floor, and that’s not including the people wrapped around the bar or those on the balcony. matty’s grip on you tightens and he weaves you both in and out of the small huddles of people to get to the makeshift backstage area.
“precious cargo acquired,” he calls out to the guys, pushing through the dark curtain that separates the band from the gig’s patrons. there’s an eruptive cheer as your figure pushes through after matty’s. “thought she was gonna freeze to death out there.”
george is the first to envelop you in a hug. you hit his shoulder as he pulls back, furrowing your brows at him.
“hey, what’s that for?” he shrieks and you narrow your eyes at him.
“learn to answer your phone, dickhead. almost got hypothermia out there,” you grumble. he retaliates by mimicking your voice, turning up his nose.
“she would’ve frozen to death without me mate. m’her prince in shining armor. or whatever that’s supposed to be,” matty calls over and george just rolls his eyes. your cheeks feel hot, much like they did when you were sixteen and staring up at matty with wide eyes after he said he liked your eclectic music taste.
“s’knight in shining armor,” adam quips. matty just waves him off with an utterance of tomato-tomato as he lights up a cigarette.
“are you guys still playing my favorite song?” you chirp.
“nah, matty scratched it from the setlist,” ross sighs.
your eyes go wide, “what?”
matty, preoccupied with his cigarette, only shrugs. “doesn’t fit the vibe anymore.”
“and what vibe is that? emo sad boy virgin pop?” you huff.
his eyes meet yours, softening as he seems to rethink what he was about to say. there’s a twitch of a smile at his lips. he runs his tongue out over the plush flesh. the intrusive thoughts take over your brain and you’re trying to tell yourself that it would not be a good idea to tell him that you’re jealous of his tongue.
“watch it,” he’s snide, tone alluring as smoke fans over the room.
you blink a few times, exhaling slowly as you regain your composure, “or what?”
“i’ll make you go sit outside in the cold again.”
“you wouldn’t.”
“you’re right, i wouldn’t.” his eyes travel over you. he lingers a bit at your hips and you swear you can see the wheels turning in his head. you go to comment, but adam’s already rounding all of the boys up to get them on stage. his head tilts at the proximity between the two of you (which isn’t much as matty’s made his way to be a few inches in front of you now), noticing the way matty’s looking at you. he hits him on the shoulder, giving him a look and jerking his head towards the curtain. matty’s hand brushes your waist as he passes behind you. it’s there for a fragment of a second, but the repercussions weigh heavy in your brain. there’s a phantom of his hand remaining on your heated skin, heart thumping hard in your chest. and as they walk away, you can hear the harsh whispers between the two men, but you can’t make out what they’re saying.
matty ends up playing your favorite song. and it’s the only think you talk about the whole cab ride back to his and george’s apartment. the others try their hardest to switch the conversation but as soon as you see an opportunity, you’re circling back to the fact that they played your favorite song. you’re an opportunist at heart, living for the way they groan.
the five of you are sitting around on matty and george’s balcony. you’re curled up on the beat-up couch, knees pulled to your chest. you’ve changed, thankfully, into some old sweats you left here at one point. and it all feels normal and a bit nostalgic, an air of their early days. the guys are asking about your classes at uni, and how your roommates are treating you. and when you answer, you find yourself catching matty’s eyes lingering on you for a little longer than normal.
he watches you intently as you bring the bottle of cheap wine up to your lips, taking a long sip. he thinks a lot about what your lips would taste like, probably a mix of the wine and the cherry chapstick he had seen you use earlier. matty’s head feels heavy and he’s chalking it up to the wine and the weed from earlier and not from the lingering thoughts of you swimming around in his brain.
he’s bringing up a cigarette to his lips, expert fingers flicking the lighter as he inhales. matty catches your eyes on him that time, half-listening to what ross is rambling off to you. he grins at you from across the table, loving the way you’re rolling your eyes at him and returning your full attention to ross. there’s a fire burning within him, an antagonizing thought screaming that all your attention should be on him and him only. he loathes fighting for your attention, even more so now that you just look at him that way. it’s just pointless banter. that’s what he hushed back to adam as they walked to the stage. adam was being ridiculous in his accusations that matty was pushing the flirting with you thing a little too far. if you didn’t seem to mind, then why should he? it wasn’t like the both of you were going to do anything about it.
the night is settling down. adam and ross had both abandoned the remaining three of you to head home; they had an early morning tomorrow with some radio interview and they all had to be on their a-game.
matty’s got his hand in the snack mix bag, grumbling to himself.
“who ate all the pretzels?”
you laugh to yourself, hand coming to cover your lips. he’s quick to hear it though, eyes narrowing, “you’re just like george, i swear to god.”
“hey! what’s so bad about being like me?” george huffs in mock offense.
“i’ve got a list.” you and matty drawl at the same time, heads already snapping to gasp at each other.
george only laughs, stretching his arms above his head. “think i’m gonna call it a night. need my beauty sleep. matt, you’ll lock up right?”
matty nods.
“goodnight,” george hums and presses a kiss to the top of your head, “pillows and blankets are already on the couch for you.”
a warm smile finds its way to your face, thanking george.
you can’t find the will to get up as george exits the balcony, limbs feeling like liquid and head still swirling with the weed-induced daze.
matty pulls another cigarette out from the pack. you raise an eyebrow at him.
“i’m quitting, i swear,” he scoffs.
you only laugh and lean your head back, “i didn’t even say anything. you’ve just got a guilty conscious.”
“don’t need to say anything, it’s in your eyes,” he comments, “you want one? feel like i’ve been rude in not offering one to you all night.”
you nod, pensively. he holds the pack out and you take a cigarette for yourself before you place it between your lips. george would freak out if he saw you like this right now despite the fact he had done far worse at your age. before you can even ask for a light, matty’s already bringing the open flame up to the end of the cigarette. you blink a few times. his eyes are trained on yours, tongue poking from between his lips. it feels like ages go by. the intensity of his stare is consuming you, goosebumps littering your limbs.
“you’re supposed to inhale, love,” he remarks.
you shake your head, flustered and embarrassed, “no… yeah... i know. yeah.”
you inhale as he brings the ember up to the end again. matty’s intense gaze falls to your lips. the plump skin is curling around the cigarette, puckering as you exhale and his mouth goes dry. this is wrong, so wrong. and although there’s a part of him that just wants to pack up for the night, he knows there’s a stronger part of him that just wants to be close to you and feel your skin prickle with goosebumps again.
matty’s lips are cherry red, indicative of the way he keeps licking over and biting at them. his pupils are dilated; dark black bleeding into chocolate brown irises. his hair is awry as his fingers kept running through it. and in a fleeting thought, you wonder just what it would feel like to run your fingers through it and pull at the curls- not enough to hurt just enough to elicit some kind of a reaction. the thought alone sends a shiver down your spine, which he notices, and you feel your molten limbs get pulled toward him. the blanket that adorns his body is soft. he wraps you up in it, properly tucking you into his side as he pulls the frayed hem taught around you. you’re close enough to feel him breathing now, close enough to watch his adam’s apple bob up and down. he’s lost in thought as you stare down his side profile.
“the guys treating you alright up there?” matty asks. it’s not a far-off question seeing as you’ve told him nearly everything about any male interests when you were younger.
“I’m bored-,” you hum, voice listless. the carefully curated consonants hang in the air before dispersing like the smoke that’s exhaling from matty’s lips.
“well fuck you, too, then,” matty snorts as he cuts you off, a hint of annoyance in his voice, “didn’t want to babysit tonight, anyway.”
you shake your head, and you can almost feel your thoughts rattling around as you do so.
“i wasn’t done talking,” you glower at him, eyes narrowing ever so slightly. you watch as he shifts under your gaze. maybe he was just peeved with you, or maybe you catch the hint of a flush rising from his neck.
“go on then. we haven’t played therapist in a while, what’s on your mind?” his focus is back on the second joint he’s now begun rolling. you watch his fingers carefully, throat tightening. you’re not sure if it’s the after-effects of the weed or the absolute filth in your mind that’s causing this reaction, but it’s caught matty’s attention. he grins at you, “i said-”
“i-i heard you,” you scowl.
he purses his lips at you, shaking his head, “don’t frown, sweets, you’re gonna get wrinkles.”
“like you?”
“oi!”
“you already compared this to babysitting so i’m allowed to make all of the old man jokes i want.”
he holds his unoccupied hand up in mock surrender, “touche.”
“now, let me finish before you interrupt me yet again,” you narrow your eyes at him, playfully this time, “i’m bored with guys, i think. s’not one guy that’s caught my interest and i’ve been away at school for months. they’re all so boring, or they say dumb things and i just, ugh, i haven’t been properly kissed in ages.” you’re playing it up for dramatic effect now, honestly, and it seems to have the desired effect because he stills for a minute.
this piques his interest enough that he’s abandoning the joint that once preoccupied him to glance at you, eyebrows knitting together, “is that so?” he guffaws, smirking softly. “i think your problem, little miss, is that you,” he pauses to lick the edge of the rolling paper. it’s meticulous and calculated and your thighs squeeze together under the blanket. he knows what he’s doing, knows the dangerous game he’s playing, “you waste your time on boys. you need a man.”
“you’re a man, right?” you ask.
“uh, yeah? what are you on about?” he laughs. he’s still not paying attention to you, eyes focused on the joint in front of him while your whole brain, whole being even, is screaming out for him.
“so, why don’t you do it?” you’re leaning in close to matty, his eyes shut as he feels your breath against his neck. the scent of your perfume is intoxicating. it's so sweet; reminds him of you and your lilted laugh, something that’s never changed.
“what?” he sputters, blinking incredulously.
“you heard me,” you murmur. he can feel the ghost of your breath against his jaw now as you make your way toward his ear. “show me what it’s like to be kissed by a man,” you purr.
his resolve dissipates in a low groan of your name. he turns to look at you again, eyes tracing over your lips once, twice, thrice. but it’s taking too long for you. lunging forward, your lips press to his heatedly. and though the weed has lowered your inhibitions, it’s doing little to nothing to calm your nerves. maybe you read the signs all wrong. maybe this was a mistake. and oh, god, you’re still kissing him but he’s not kissing back. you pull away quickly, eyes wide and ready to begin your apology parade. this was not how this was supposed
the slew of apologies are ill-fated, though as he growls lowly and pulls you close to him. his hands cup your cheeks, forcing you to look at him in the eyes as he speaks, “you’re playing with fire, sweets. if you’re not careful, you’ll be burned.”
matty barely gives you a second to process what he’s doing before his lips are pressed to yours indignantly in a bruising kiss. it's slow at first, his lips working with yours as his hands fall from your cheeks to your waist. he’s pulling you even closer to him, your knees knocking against his thighs. you take the initiative and climb into his lap, straddling his waist and fingers tugging at the hair at the nape of his neck. matty’s hands wander from your waist to the hem of the t-shirt, nimble fingers traveling just underneath. you feel his cold fingers on your heated skin. they send a shiver down your spine, nerves ablaze with him.
your mouth falls open in a gasp and he takes the opportunity to slip his tongue into your mouth. he tastes of the remnants of his cigarettes and the wine he was drinking before, it’s dizzying. there’s a certain sense of pent-up desire behind his movements, a fever that you can’t quite put your finger on. you’re left only to whine against his lips, threading your fingers through his hair like you wanted to only minutes before. he’s kissing you like no one ever has before and you’re not sure anyone ever will.
matty pulls back just for a second, allowing you both to catch your breath. when your eyes flutter open, his darkened pupils meet yours. his lips are swollen, smudged with the rogue of your lipstick. you want to imprint this sight into your memory and tuck it away so that you’ll never forget how he looks in the moment. his lips are back on yours before you can comment on it. his movements are not as soft as before, not as calculated or contrived. you give in to the passion, let your desires drive you as your hips start to move against his. it’s his turn to gasp, and judging by the stiffening in his pants you can tell he’s a fan of it. he doesn’t pull away though, instead, he lets his hands grip your waist to control your movements. there’s some satiation from the friction, but it’s not enough. you want more, want him to completely ruin you.
his teeth catch onto your bottom lip, tugging as he pulls away. a whimper, deeply rooted in your chest, falls from your parted lips. there’s a smirk on his lips. you’re left panting on his lap. he leans up, cups your cheek and presses a softer kiss to your lips. your lips move against his slowly. and just as you’re about to part your lips for him once more, he’s pulling back.
an exasperated sigh leaves your mouth and he laughs at you, actually laughs, “you’re a needy little thing, aren’t you?”
you’re breathless, chest rising and falling rapidly. you try to find the words to rebuttal him, but they’re lost on you. the only thing you can think about is him, he’s completely encompassed your thoughts and your brain. matty’s lips move to your neck, leaving a trail of kisses down the sensitive skin. he nips gently and you moan, waiting for your reaction as he flicks his tongue out to soothe the area. he drags his hands languidly up your waist and you think that he’s going to lift your shirt and let you have it like you want. but, the notion is lost. he lifts you off his lap and kisses your nose.
“i’ve got an early morning tomorrow,” matty murmurs, “goodnight, sweets.”
he’s walking into the apartment before you can even formulate your own goodnight. the words feel lost on your tongue, thoughts feel lost in your brain.
you’re fucked. absolutely fucked and not in a good way.

like he just does. the shittiest things ever. but u always forgive him :((((
i need more therapy than i already have because i would die for this
listen
There was no doubt that you loved Patrick, you always had. But the present was not the past and things weren't like they used to.
In the beginning, when your eyes first locked, an unstoppable force drew you together. The attraction was raw, almost animalistic, a primal hunger neither of you had experienced before. You had craved him like you had never craved anyone before. And so you had him, in the club's bathroom, in the back seat of his car, in every room of your apartment. His taste lingered on your tongue, a constant reminder of the brief minutes that separated each fervent encounter. The thrill of exploring each other's bodies for the first time was intensified by the secrecy, the illicit affair that shadowed every touch. Patrick had someone waiting for him at home, a girlfriend who unknowingly played a major role in the dampness between your legs. There was a thrilling excitement in knowing that he had a woman who could meet his needs, yet he still desired you above all.
But everything had changed when she had found out about you and dumped his ass.
For Patrick, asking you out was a natural progression, born from the countless hours spent in post-coital bliss, dreaming and discussing a future together. He savored every moment by your side, loving the fact that you were so willing to please him in anyway. His little toy to play with.
'Once a cheater, always a cheater. Good luck, bitch.' She had sent you. You ignored it. It was different with you, it was love.
Now the fire that once defined your relationship had dulled. Life got in the way. With work consuming your time, you could no longer join him on tour and let him release his frustrations on you. Though he always returned to you, things had changed. You sensed you were no longer enough, unable to meet all his needs. It began with casual comments about girls he met : how pretty and fun they were. Then he started mentioning how firm their asses were and how plump their breasts felt. That was where you had drawn the line. You had screamed and cried, and he had apologized, his head between your legs, whispering polished words about how you were the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. And how they had nothing on you.
It had only taken a few days for him to get back at it. And you had ignored it because while he was talking about other women, he was still fucking YOU, no one else. And if he was telling you about it, it meant that he wasn't hiding anything.
Then you had caught him smirking at his phone, the same smirk that had first captivated you across the club. You had to know what lay behind it. Once he had fallen asleep, you had taken his phone and discovered hundreds of sexts. Furious, you had slapped him awake. He had apologized, claiming it had been only words, insisting he had been faithful to you. It had just been a way to keep himself occupied when you were away, a distraction from his loneliness. He had sworn he could never fuck another pussy than yours.
Until he could. One day, he had managed to persuade you to invite over that ball girl he had been talking to you about. The one with the nice thighs. It had ended up in bed. Despite not being into girls, you had said yes because as long as you were present, it wasn't cheating. So you had obliged, watching him slam himself balls deep into another girl while she pleasured you. You had detested the sensation between your legs and resented the feeling in your guts. Eventually, you had excused yourself to the bathroom to throw up. There you had burst into tears while hearing their moans through the door. He sounded the same when he was with you and it crushed you. When she had left, he had whispered repeatedly in your ear how much he loved you and how no one could ever be as perfect for him as you. You hated how those tender moments seemed to justify all the pain. A part of Patrick, however flawed, felt infinitely better than a life without him. It was all worth it.
He had done it again. With another girl. Except now you weren't really involved anymore. You knew he had fucked every tight little cunt he had encountered and wasn't even hiding it. Each time he returned to your arms, he reeked of sex, his body still marked by the traces of another encounter, the scent of swear clinging to his skin and the remnants of another girl's juices matted in his pubic hair. You had cried once more, but he had dismissed your fears as paranoia. When you threatened to leave, he had promised to change, to be faithful, vowing never to make you cry again. For a moment, you wondered whether he found solace in manipulating and humiliating you. Then, a reassuring thought crossed your mind : he was your Patrick, and he would never intentionally hurt you.
But he did, when after fucking you, he had asked you :
"I think we should have an open relationship, what do you think?"
Was the guilt consuming him from the inside? Did he suffer from his lies as much as you did?
"I'd do anything for you." You hated yourself for it. You could feel yourself completely fade. You were now only the woman Patrick wanted you to be.
Except you would never let another man fuck you, you belonged to him only.
But now, at least, he wasn't technically cheating on you.

Despite the documentary trailer coming out, the general public didn’t believe you and Ricky were together. According to everyone, the whole show was an act. A very entertaining act but an act nonetheless. Not that you or Ricky minded. With the increase in auditions and booking small roles, you wanted your personal life to stay personal for just a little longer. You told Gina that much as you helped her finish packing.
Her mom was back into so your roommate turned sister was officially leaving your house. Gina dragged her entire closet into your room so you two could pack up and watch a movie on the projector screen in your room.
“I can’t believe your moving. Seriously,” you said as you shoved her jackets into a box.
“You act like I’m leaving the state, I’m literally across the street.”
“Yeah, I can’t believe that old couple finally chose to live in a nursing home.”
You and Gina paused before you bursted out in laughter. It was really nice to have her stay near by. While you were friends with the rest of the drama club, Gina and Ricky were still your only close friends at East High.
“You know what I can’t believe,” Gina started. “That two of my best friends are leaving me next year.”
“Senior year. I still haven’t processed it yet,” you admitted.
A knock on the door caught your attention. Your dad was standing in the doorway with a plate of fruit. “My lovely senior and junior…”
You and Gina rolled your eyes.
“Gina, your mother wants me to remind you that she’d like you home by ten thirty and that you two can talk tomorrow at school.”
“Got it.”
“Thank you, here you guys go. Let’s try to finish packing before the night is over.”
“If you really want us to finish. Dad, you could he—”
The sound of your window opening made you all turn. You laughed as Ricky practically fell into your room. He jumped up with a quickness.
“Hi, Mr. L/N. Y/N, Gina.”
“Hello, Richard. You do know we have a front door, right?” you father pointed to downstairs.
“Yeah but since you guys said I’m allowed over any time, it’s not as much fun unless I’m going through the window.”
Your dad looked up at the ceiling. “I have clearly overstayed my welcome talking to a bunch of teenagers. Okay, Gina, home by ten thirty. Richard no sleeping in Y/N’s room but you are welcome to take any other room upstairs. Bed time is eleven, no negotiations. School’s tomorrow… I can’t believe my baby is a senior.”
“Dad, Dad, there’s plenty of time before I graduate. We don’t need to start crying now.”
“Oh, whatever.”
You chuckled as your dad left the room before focusing on Ricky again. He had no problem showing affection towards you with Gina in the room because she was the only person that knew you and Ricky were a real couple. She wasn’t exactly sure how she felt about being sworn to secrecy no matter the reason but she was still just happy to be let in.
Your boyfriend sat on the bed, actually helping you pack up Gina’s closet. “I wanted to give you something but I couldn’t really wait until tomorrow. Well, both of you, kind of.”
“What is it?”
“So, I’ve had this melody stuck in my head all day and it reminded me of Y/N.”
“Sap,” Gina muttered.
“I think it’s sweet.” You leaned over to give him a peck.
“Anyway, I know you don’t really write songs but you have an ear for music Y/N and Gina does write lyrics so I thought maybe we could work on this together?”
“Of course.”
“Okay.” Ricky stood up to leave. “I actually do have to get home. One of Dad’s only rules is bed by ten on the first day of school.”
“Seriously?”
He nodded. “Yep, it’s been a tradition since I started… and it is nine thirty so I do need to go.”
You gave him another kiss. “Okay, I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“See you tomorrow… Oh! Did Lucille send you the filming schedule?”
“Yeah, I’m just glad the filming is here. Senior year away from East High would’ve been such a bummer.”
“I know right. Okay, I’ll see you tomorrow.”
~~
You leaned against Ashylnn’s locker, chuckling as you watched Kourtney and Carlos take pictures with fans. It was weird to say you guys had fans.
“So what do you think, Y/N?”
“Hmm?” You focused back on Gina and Ashlynn.
“About Ash and Maddie giving each other relationship advice.”
You and Gina shared a look before you stood up straight. “I think that’s for Ashlynn to figure out but we need to figure out how to get to the drama club before we’re late for Ms. Jenn’s big announcement.”
Ashlynn’s eyebrows furrowed. “For me to figure out what?”
“Nothing,” you said with a laugh before grabbing her and Gina’s hands and leading them to the drama club.
You guys weren’t sure why Ms. Jenn called everyone in for a “surprise.” It was pretty obvious that the next play was going to be High School Musical 3. Without stupid Zacky Roy around to throw the Drama Club off their game, you guys were going right back to doing Disney TV shows for musicals. You just hoped that next semester you guys did Teen Beach Movie before you graduated.
You felt Ricky squeeze your hand once before you guys broke apart and left the drama room with everyone else to go to the Pep Rally. Staying lowkey was going to be so hard. You let Ashlynn and Gina walk in between the two of you on your way to the field.
“Can you believe auditions are this Friday? I need to pick a song,” Ashlynn said as she started searching through a list written down on her phone.
“What part are you going for Ash?”
“I’m thinking Kelsey or Sharpay. You?”
You shrugged. “Whatever doesn’t interfere with filming and my calculus homework. You know I’ve been demoted at Saltwater.”
“What?!”
You chuckled at your friends’ expressions. “Not like that. Bennet agreed that Principal dancer is too much to handle with school and filming so I’m only principal for the fall ballet since we’ve been rehearsing it before filming next month and then I’m just a first soloist for the rest of the time. It’s better this way anyway. This is the exact arrangement I’m going to having at Berklee. I’m thankful to get but my academic advisor sends me an email like every other day with updates. My inbox is dying.”
You guys sat down in your seats, finally moving to be next to Ricky.
“That still means we get to come watch you perform at Saltwater, right?”
“Yeah, you are looking at Coraline Jones in our fall production.”
Before your friends could celebrate you, the pep rally started much to your relief. You were still getting used to being the center of attention without losing the ability to breathe. Part of the reason you weren’t so prepared to be the lead in a feature film. A small film but still… The first Twilight movie was an indie film.
At least you didn’t have time to overanalyze that because the dude who played Coach Bolton was at the pep rally? You and Ricky rolled your eyes and sighed at the same time with the announcement of High School Musical 4 being filmed at your school. Just why?
Of course all the students were cheering no matter what, hoping that filming would mess with classes a little. You had a little fangirl moment when they announced one of the new stars of High School Musical 4. Mack and Dani.
Kourtney played Dani’s TikToks over and over again when you guys were at camp. Hopefully she could act because her TikToks seemed so nice. And Mack? Well you couldn’t help but squeal a little when they announced him.
Your friends looked at you causing you to laugh. “You don’t understand, I had one of the biggest crushes on him when I was little.”
“Me too!” Gina said with excitement. “Mark and Spark was my comfort show.”
“You know, he was supposed to be the first male lead in the movie I’m filming and my heart stopped until he cancelled of course.”
“Well now we know why,” Ashlynn said before focusing back on the stage.
You leaned your head on Ricky’s shoulder, having felt him tense up behind you. He relaxed when you grabbed his hand for a brief moment.
“You know I don’t mean anything by it. It was just a stupid celebrity crush,” you whispered.
“Celebrity crushes are still crushes.”
“Well then it was a stupid little crush. Is that better?”
“Yeah,” Ricky said with a squeeze of your hand.
You made a note to stay at Ricky's for a late dinner later after ballet rehearsal just to make sure he wasn’t still jealous. This relationship really was new territory for the both of you. But that would have to wait because now it was time for a second surprise in the drama room. You were getting real sick of surprises. And super sick of the security guard trying to block access to the drama room because of “filming”.
“Ahh!”
You all turned at Kourtney’s scream.
“Corbin Bleu?”
“Oh great,” Ricky muttered.
“Okay, okay. I deserve that a bit. But I am here to make amends. I know that documentary wasn’t what any of us expected.”
“Seb isn’t talking to me.” Carlos pointed out.
Ashlynn nodded along with him. “Yeah and Big Red is in Cairo for six months.”
“I hear you but we’ve found a way to make it up to you.”
“Uh, who’s we?” you asked with a raised hand.
You heard footsteps before you saw the people attached to the noise. You couldn’t believe it. Standing right in front of you was the original cast of High School Musical. Honestly, Corbin might have actually gotten you guys the best apology gift ever.
Featured extras in High School Musical 4? That was sick! So was everyone character development. You had to admit that you didn’t see Troy and Gabriella being in couples’ therapy… because you thought they would’ve broken up freshman year of college since they were such an on and off again relationship. The entire class was giggling uncontrollably at the prospects of being together on set.
Kourtney raised her hand. “Well, if the movie is going for authenticity casting a drama class to play Ms. Darbus’ drama class then Mack and Dani should consult us. The real life kids of East High.”
“This is why she’s the smart one,” someone said as you all high-fived.
Apparently, the OG cast thought she was brilliant as well because it didn’t take them any convincing. She was immediately assigned to Dani. You playfully shook her shoulders to let her know you were proud of her.
“Do we have any volunteers for Mack?” Lucas asked.
“Right like someone who grew up loving his tv show. Or two someones?”
You tried to back out of being Mack’s guide but it was too late. You were stuck co-guiding with Gina. All you wanted to do was focus on movie rehearsals, ballet rehearsals, your relationship, school, and drama club. That was a lot of things. Guiding Mack was not on your list of things.
You acted like that wasn’t the case when you went to go see the superstar, putting on your best smile. Your eyes went wide at an almost naked man getting his calf measured.
“Oh my,” you and Gina said at the same time.
Mack looked over. “Can I help you?”
You let Gina take over as you tried to look everywhere but at Mack, feeling embarrassed and more awkward than usual.
“We are so sorry. We are real students here, only one credit on IMDb so far but anyway, we were assigned to give you a hand.”
“Yeah, I’d love to know who assigned you to interrupt my costume fitting.”
“No. That was our bad.”
“Yeah,” you offered up. “If we had known you weren’t dressed we would’ve come way sooner before school ended… Soo-sooner because you’d have clothes on. Not whatever you l-look like you, like you’re thinking of. Oh my goodness.”
“Would you mind turning around?”
You and Gina looked at each other before doing just that. “That was probably the first thing we should have done.”
“Okay. So, I do have to ask,” Gina started. “Do you still keep in touch with the dog from the show?”
“There were seven of them and they all retired to a farm upstate.”
“Oh that’s so swee—”
“Uh, G,” you cut her off. “That means they aren’t, um, currently pr—”
“It means they’re dead.” Mack had put on a shirt so you guys could turn around. “The farm is heaven.”
“Well that ruined everything,” your friend muttered. “Okay, we’re going to leave now and we can all pretend we never met.”
“Oh, I’m way ahead of you.”
“Good luck on the movie, Mack. Hope you break a leg, literally.”
“Good luck with your lives, superfans.”
You felt your face get hot as you marched up to him. “Her name is Gina Porter and can I just say, I’m so glad High School Musical 4 took you in. Acting alongside you in Sweet Pea Americano would have literally killed me… G-Gina, why did I just say that?”
“I’m proud of you.” She swung her arm over your shoulder so you guys could leave. “Even with anxiety, you always stick up for your friends.”
“I think I’m going to pass out.”
“Come on, let’s go see if Ricky got a smoothie for us at the food truck.”
While you were mortified at your actions, Gina proudly recanted the entire story to Ricky who echoed her sentiments. You guys went you separate ways. There was no carpool with Gina today. Carlos called her over for an emergency meeting of the Finer Things Club at Kourtney’s house, leaving Ricky to drop you off at Saltwater. You guys stopped at a salad bar first so you could get some real food into your system.
“Oh, Gina finished the lyrics to the song.”
“Already?”
“You know her. Once she gets started on a mission, she can’t stop until it’s complete. Do you want to hear it?”
“Of course, do you have the lyrics on you?”
You handed Ricky your phone to look at the screenshots of Gina’s song journal. Your harmonies were rough and sometimes the melody fell off but the two of you had fun singing all the way back to the car.
“Are you sure you don’t mind picking me up?” you asked him as you leaned into the driver’s side window after getting your bags from the back of the car once you guys reached your destination. “Because we don’t get out till eleven and Mrs. Porter said it was fine for her to pick me up since Saltwater is between Kourtney’s house and ours.”
“It’s fine, baby, I like picking you up.”
“Okay. Oh, don’t forget. Gina’s driving tomorrow morning.”
“I can’t believe she got a car.”
“I can’t believe she got a license.”
You said bye one last time and headed inside for you ballet rehearsals. While you were dancing, Ricky was doing homework, and Gina was laughing as she got into Kourtney’s room. Ashlynn and Carlos were already there and Kourtney… well, she was meditating at the edge of her bed. While, Ashlynn had nearly forty missed texts from Maddox. Gina so had to tell you about that when you and Ricky came over for breakfast tomorrow morning.
Her smile faded at the announcement that Kourtney wasn’t sure about doing the school musical or not. She wasn’t sure if Dani was the best thing for Kourtney. She especially wasn’t sure when her friend suddenly became supper eager and chipper to answer her phone call. Kourtney put Dani on speaker after the others swore to be quiet.
“Hi, so I was studying you. Not in a creepy way but I’m really trying to get into character as a real East High drama student.”
Gina made a face when Dani suddenly stopped the speak pretty harshly to the driver taking her to the airport.
“Anyway, you’ve got that X factor, Kourt, and I want to help you grow your footprint. But I’ve been looking through your post and to be honest I’ve noticed something.”
“It’s the honesty for me,” Kourtney said with a nervous lilt to her voice.
“If I’m going to show you exactly what it’s like to grow an audience and you’re going to do the same for me as an East High student, I want you to tell me everything you know about Ricky Bowen.”
Gina bit her tongue as her other three friends stared at each other with suspicious looks on their faces. She got strange vibes for some reason but didn’t want to act on what could be nothing. Besides, she promised you two that she wouldn’t say anything to anyone. And how could she tell Kourtney not to mention Ricky to Dani if she didn’t ended up revealing something?
~~
You looked down at your phone to see a text from Ricky.
I’m still on my way, baby. Don’t worry, I’m stopped at a red light. I’ll be there in like 10 minutes. I wish your rehearsal didn’t end so late so we could’ve stayed up cuddling.
You smiled at the text before sending a little heart emoji, nothing that would require Ricky to look down at his phone after the light turned green. You ruffled around your bag to get your water bottle, reaching for your phone again when you felt the familiar vibration of a text. Another one from Ricky.
This red light is long. Do you want to get McDonalds after this?
You shook your head, deciding it was better to just answer him in person. A groan left you mouth when you felt the vibration again. That light wasn’t going to be red forever, if he was texting while driving then you were going to scold him because that could seriously inju—
Why was Mack now following your Instagram?

An Unknown Fan
Authors Note: I have been dead for the past couple months due to school just hounding on me and finals are coming up. I hopefully can get back to writing during the summer and next semester.
Request: Yes by anon
Pairing: Vil x Fem! Reader
Warning: Female Reader, you/your, she/her, & so forth
Tumblr media
Sitting on set, Vil was scrolling through Magicam and somewhat listening to his manager go on about his schedule before checking the trending list to see a new name.
Clicking on your name, he was presented with different posts involving you like fan edits, photoshoots, interviews, and movie posters. The most recent one he saw was of you sitting in a chair while resting the side of your head on your knuckles with a confident smirk on your face. While sporting a tasteful outfit, you had a playfully confident aura.
Rising actress making villainy look good. This young actress climbs the ranks of well-known faces in the film industry for her acting skills, making her movie villain roles iconic and well known. With being an upcoming name, most put her together with Vil Schoenheit, a well-known actor who has always been called to portray villains.
Vil didn't read the rest before noticing you were tagged in the photo. He clicked on it to see your Magicam profile. You had a decent follower account and he carefully scrolled through some of your posts. It was a mixture of your personal and professional life. He decided to keep an eye on you, resulting in him following you with his secret account.
Over the next couple of months, he watched some of the films that you've acted in, and he thought you had excellent acting skills, bringing your characters to life. He thought the first post he saw was lying about you only playing villain roles, only to find out that your career was built off of playing villains. He believes that you have more potential than just playing the villain.
Vil was invited to do a Q&A for a recent movie that he was a part of which was taking place at a convention. While checking the venue out, he also noticed that you were also going to be there and checked what time your panel would be at. He had his manager buy him a ticket so it wouldn't raise any suspicion. He would get there early and hide himself in the crowd with a disguise.
When the day came, he arrived at the convention and was accompanied by his manager and one of his bodyguards in case there was an incident. They all waited in line before being let in, the seats Vil got were decently in the middle of the two sections. He sat between his manager and bodyguard then browsed on his phone until the announcer came out and started talking to the crowd.
When the announcer said your name, you came out to a roaring cheer of people and waved to them. You wore a nice casual outfit, not too professional or casual, and you sat down between two of your co-stars. Vil kept an eye on you as he watched the rest of the cast come out. Once everyone was seated, the announcer made small talk with the cast for a bit then the Q&A panel started. Vil watched as you interacted with your cast, being friendly, and as well with fans who asked you questions.
“Have you ever been offered roles that weren’t villains?’
“I have been offered other roles that were not villains, I had a director recently ask if I could play the leading hero in their upcoming movie, but I respectfully declined the role since it would clash with another project.”
"Mind sharing with the class?" The announcer questioned.
"I am sworn to secrecy until given more instructions."
“That’s something I wanted to know,” one of your cast members asked, turning towards you. “Why do you only play villain roles?”
“Playing the villain is more fun than the hero, there is so much more you can do to drive the story."
“Was there someone who inspired you to do this, or do you just want continuous villain eras?” one of your costars questioned.
“Yes, to both, Vil Schoenheit has played many excellent roles, but he is mainly known for playing villains that get overshadowed by the hero. As much as the hero is great, the villain drives the story further and basically makes the hero.”
“Are you trying to hide your love and admiration for Vil?”
“I will not deny that Vil is breathtaking and drop dead gorgeous, but I appreciate his skills more.”
“She didn’t deny it!” One of your costars yelled, causing the crowd to go wild as you smiled then shrugged.
Vil felt a little moved by your explanation of why you always play the villain, but that doesn't change his opinion on you having more potential than just being stuck in a typecast role. He continued to see as the panel went until the end came and then the signing panel started. He told his manager and bodyguard he would be fine, but the bodyguard told him that they would watch from afar. Vil thought that it was a decent compromise before entering your line.
He waited in line, holding a small piece of paper, and silently watched you interact with fans before silently laughing at how friendly yet professional you were with fans. Once he finally reached you, you greeted him with a smile and gently took the piece of paper Vil handed to you.
“Who do I make this out to?” You ask, ready to write.
“Put whatever you want” he said before watching you write something before pausing, waiting for who to make this autograph to. “Vil Schoenheit.
He watched as you froze and lifted your head up as he took his glasses off and gave you a smile, causing you to malfunction a little. He enjoyed seeing you fangirl a bit as your costars saw this and were having the time of their lives as they watched you freak out. You both shook hands and exchanged niceties before your manager asked if you both wanted a picture together which he at once agreed. You both posed as your manager snapped a picture of you both. You thanked him for coming again and bid him farewell as he left, dodging the fans in the lines who were trying to get a picture. Every celebrity has moments when they want to walk around in public. Once he reached his bodyguard, he looked down at the signed photo to see if you wrote something at the end.
PS I think you’re pretty cool.
Later that night there was a bunch of coverage about the earlier interaction from fans and the convention themselves talked about it. Vil scrolled through your tag to see you wearing sunglasses, but you had napkins underneath the glasses to cover your face.
The last picture of the collection was of you shooting a peace sign towards the camera, making Vil chuckle a bit. Once he clicked on your profile, he followed you and sent you a message.
The director I am working with is interested in offering you a part of their movie. Would you be up to it?
He watched as three dots danced around before seeing the message you sent.
Depends on, maybe we’re already going to be working together. Who knows I may end up being your villain? Can you keep up with my pace?
This was going to be an interesting friendship.

levi x y/n, fluff! no content warnings. as always, characters aged up to 21+
Tumblr media
ever since introducing connie to the wonders of a facemask, you've inadvertently become the scouts' personal physical therapist. for a fee, of course, you've become accustomed to helping an aching solider relax their muscles, minds, and come out smelling great in the process. many scouts have never had the luxury of a pamper session, and it was only through sheer privilege that you had. despite coming from a wealthy family inside wall sina, you chose to join the scouts through an obligation to help humanity. it's tiresome and gruelling work, but that didn't mean you couldn't help out your comrades where you can.
jean is a fan of a head massage. reiner enjoys some gua sha. hange finds some relaxation with the help of a foot rub. even erwin hasn't been able to resist investigating the rumours, and lets you carry out some light eyebrow threading one night - while sworn to secrecy, of course. everybody has sought the help of your relaxing touch at some point so far. all except one.
levi scoffs at connie's repeated suggestions that he relaxes, even for twenty minutes, and has taken to physically rebuking hange's suggestion of a foot rub, grimacing at the thought. his argument is always that as long as he can sleep, he can relax, and that's enough for him. no amount of arguing over the physical benefits of acupuncture was going to change that.
one night following a particularly gruelling day of training, wherein you'd all been subjected to cross-country stamina tests, sparring, and riding, you cause grief among your comrades by declaring your services closed for the evening, feeling simply too weak and needing to rest yourself. the force needed to satisfy jean's desired pressure for his massage would be too much on its own; they'd all have to wait until tomorrow. you collapse into bed in your now private bedroom - your roommate had been granted furlough to attend a family funeral - and relished sleepily in the silence for a few seconds. that was, until a gentle knock at your door stirred you back to life with a sigh. what part of 'no' didn't they understand?
"I told you, you assholes!" you bark, marching for the door, "I'm not doing anything today..."
you swing the door open and feel the blood run from your face, as captain levi haunts your doorstep. you stumble backwards and hastily salute.
"captain!" you stutter, "I'm sorry, I thought you were..."
"at ease," he mutters. silence falls between you both, as you notice something different about the captain tonight. he's without his usual air of distain, seeming much more... well, embarassed. he glances down the hallway before addressing you again.
"I hear... I hear you're good at getting knots out of people's backs..."
the way he speaks is laden with hesitancy, as if he hated that he was even there at all. he probably did; in a roundabout way, he's asking for help, which you can't imagine he's accustomed to doing. you raise your eyebrows before you have a chance to think.
"uh... yeah, yeah that's right."
you step to the side to silently welcome the captain inside, and with another glance down the hall, he obliges. when you make sure the door is securely locked, you turn to see him stood awkwardly in the centre of the room. how bad must he have been feeling to push him to come here? he clears his throat, and does everything to avoid eye contact.
"how do you usually do this?" he asks, arms firmly folded across his chest. you feel your mouth go dry as you realise what you're about to ask of him.
"well, for the back, I usually need people to, uh... remove their...y'know..."
asking levi to remove his shirt wasn't something you thought you'd ever do, and so actually coming out with it proves difficult. with a gentle nod, however, he unbuttons his shirt and removes it, folding it neatly before placing it on your bed.
"do I need to lie down?" he asks. you nod, still in utter bewilderment over the situation you find yourself in. remembering that you had a job to do, you quickly snap yourself out of your daze and go about preparing yourself. you wash your hands in warm water and make sure they stay warm, and you fetch your best massage oil from your cupboard - jean certainly never got the best stuff, he didn't pay enough. it smells of lavender and camomile; the best mix for relaxation. you pull up your desk chair to the side of the bed and massage some of the oil into your palms, still not believing you're about to touch captain levi's skin.
"this might be a little cold," you warn. levi turns his head away from you to face the wall, half burying it in his arms as he does so.
"it's fine."
with a deep breath you begin, unable to stop yourself from shaking just a little bit. with the gentlest touch you can manage, you begin, starting at his shoulders. as you get a feel for his structure, you reluctantly notice the canvas in front of you is peppered with small scars and bruises, some old, some new. his skin is surprisingly soft, but heavily flawed, revealing more about himself than he perhaps wanted. you tear your eyes away and turn back to the job at hand; he ha some intense knots that needed to be worked. his shoulders are painfully tight, and you discover a particularly large knot between his shoulder blades that makes him wince as you apply pressure.
"sorry!" you bleat, "that one might be a little painful to get rid of."
"it's fine," he reassures, "do what you gotta do. that's the thing that forced me to come here."
taking this as permission to proceed, you lay your hands back on his skin and resume working, melting away the smaller knots and softening the tense muscles. he winces again as you increase the pressure between his shoulder blades, but don't stop this time. you eventually finding yourself needing to get to your feet to find the right angle to apply the right pressure, and just as you start to break into a sweat, the knot begins to dissolve, and you stand in shock as you see levi physically begin to relax, released from the grip of tension. you ease the pressure and take your seat again, now simply calming his muscles with a gentler touch across his back and shoulders.
levi hasn't felt physical relaxion like this in a very long time. not ever, probably. it had taken everything he had to even ask, but he finds himself grateful that he did. the years of running, fighting, killing, torturing, had finally started to take a toll on him physically, and that damned knot in his back was what had finally forced his hand. he wasn't able to even sit at his desk without being in excruciating pain, and it was only a matter of time before it would start affecting the way he fought. he lay face-down on the bed, eyelids feeling heavy as they fluttered closed, absolutely melting beneath your touch. the experience wasn't all that unfamiliar. the smell of lavender was bittersweet as it soaked into his skin; he vividly remembers his mother using bags of the dried flower to ward off damp and moths, and so she always smelled of fields lavender. confident that you can't see him in the dark, he smiles gently at the memory, and decides that he doesn't want it to be over yet.
"listen, if you don't mind," he utters, "jean... said you do head massages?"

Bets (Captain Rex x Jedi reader)
Rating: Fluff
Summary: A bet was made throughout the 501st that their Jedi couldn’t take out the training droids without a lightsaber or the force
“I think without their use of the force or their lightsabers, they would have a harder time fighting these tin cans.” Hardcase explained as he downed another shot.
“Our commander is more than capable.” Rex leaned back in his seat with a hard look.
“Of course you would say that.” Fives nudged his commander with a knowing look.
Rex glared at his brother, an all telling sign for him to shut up. No one else knew about the relationship between himself and their Jedi. Except for Fives because of the times he stumbled upon them outside of 79’s in the alley way. Now sworn to secrecy Five still likes to make jokes here and there.
“I think our commander would kick ass!” Jesse defended.
“We should make a bet.” Tup suggested as he leaned his elbows onto the table, “Whose in?”
I watched from a few steps away, the loud atmosphere was enough to hide my presence. It was another win for the republic and everyone was here to celebrate. I watched my boys take credits out and place them on the table.
“So… Care to explain what is going on here?” I asked with a chuckle as I finally made my presence known.
“Commander!” Jesse looked surprised, “We were just… Uh?”
I watched as Rex rolled his eyes and took a swig of his drink, “You boys started this, might as well tell her.”
It amused me how much he took on the older brother role, but it warmed my heart all the same. I could feel him relax under the light pressure of my touch as I waited for one of the boys to answer.
My gaze briefly trailed across the side of Rex’s face. Almost two weeks has passed since I was able to be this close to him. I couldn’t help the slide of my palm against the shoulder plate of his uniform. I knew it wasn’t truly him. Getting to touch him like that would have to wait until we were alone, but his uniform was apart of him and he wore it proudly.
“It’s nothing!” Hardcase mutter as he scratched the back of his neck.
“The boys are making a bet… Again.” Rex answered for them.
“Hm… Now I’m intrigued.” I hummed and took my seat next to Rex, “What is this bet about?”
“Well commander, half of us think that you wouldn’t be able to last as long as us on the battlefield without your Jedi powers and lightsaber while the other half believes that you can.” Kix explained while nudges and subtle laughter was shared between my squad.
“I’m the other half commander!” Jesse smiled proudly as he rose his hand in the air and I couldn’t help but chuckle at his enthusiasm.
“Thank you Jess.” I smiled gratefully at my friend.
“Kiss up.” Hawk rolled his eyes and the group fell into a fit of laughter.
“Hm… How would this work?” I paced my hand on my chin in mock debate, “Well I don’t have any missions scheduled any time soon so would your training simulators suffice to settle this bet of yours?”
“You would really do it?” Fives asked, his eyes lighting up with excitement.
I nodded, “Like Jesse, I believe I have pretty decent chance without my Jedi abilities so why not?”
79’s atmosphere was loud, clones taking a break from the war to have a good time. I could hear my squad clearly as they hollered in excitement at my answer. They soon fell into another humorous debate over who was the strongest team member and I had to stop myself from snorting at their displays of masculinity. What warmed my heart the most was being surrounded by my boys as well as the other troopers who survived our recent battle against the separatists.
Thankfully, no more attention was directed to me as the 501st immersed themselves in their celebration. I haven’t been able to see him since we parted ways after the meeting with Ashoka, Anakin, and Obiwan. A sudden burst of relief flowed through me as I once again thanked the force that Rex was alive, still here with me.
I glanced down to the space that Rex left for me, his left arm resting across the back of the booth, allowing me to fit in beside him if I chose to. I smiled softly and took my seat. I could feel his warmth through his armor and it felt like home against my body.
He felt like home…
I leaned into him to gain his attention, “And you, captain?” I tilted my head and waited for Rex to answer.
He glanced at me, “You know my answer commander.” He replied with a knowing smirk that I returned fully.
I turned my head and the two of us fell into a comfortable silence as we watched our family. Echo was currently trying to beat Hardcase in an arm wrestle while Tub was trying to explain how to smooth talk a girl to Jesse while Fox just shook his head at Tub’s so called ‘wisdom’.
It was when I felt Rex’s free hand against my thigh that the butterflies fluttered in my stomach. I placed my right hand on top of his, rubbing my thumb against his worn knuckles. He leaned down to my ear.
I felt his hot breath against my skin as he whispered, “Are you ready to go home?” He asked I knew he was clearly referring to his place.
It was just a little apartment given to me by the republic, but it had meant every to me and now to him. A place to call his own… Our own.
I nodded, clearly not trusting myself to answer with his thumb rubbing circles on my thigh. I knew that no one in the entire galaxy could make me feel this much love towards anyone the way I did for him. And I had a feeling it was the same for him.
This was going to be a long night…
“Rex?” I whispered his name as I slid my palm across his to hold his hand.
We lied in the comfort of the silk sheets. I bought them during my few days off a couple weeks ago. The moon outside casted a dim light over our covered forms.
Movement underneath my hand brought a smile to my face from the very man that threw all meanings of no attachment out the window. If any of my fellow Jedi would know about what we share… I’d be kicked out of the order and would never be able to fight by Rex’s side again. A dark feeling consumed me at the thought of not being able to protect him. I quickly pushed it away deciding to focus on the now, which included my self being awake while he slept peacefully.
An urge to wake him crept through me. That consuming feeling of missing him even if he was right beside me took over the Jedi urge to subdue my feelings.
“Are you awake?” I whispered into the quiet space only filled with sounds of speeders and ships flying not to far from our window.
“Mm… I am now.” He muttered slowly. His voice was deeper than normal from the sudden use of it after hours of peaceful quiet.
He cleared it to speak more clearly, “What is it cyare?” I could feel him sit up slightly to surround his area and I knew he had his free hand placed on the blaster secured to the side of the bed.
“I missed you.” I said sheepishly suddenly feeling a little guilty for worrying him.
He chuckled lowly, the raspiness in his voice sending my heart clench as he relaxed back into the bed, “I’m right here mesh’la.”
I rolled on top of him, “You know what I mean. I haven’t seen you in weeks and I just...”
“You saw me during a holo call.” He teased and I couldn’t help, but cherish this side of him.
Usually he was very strict only light banter when he was on duty, but here… Just alone with me, he let his relaxed self show.
I slapped his chest lightly, “You know what I mean.”
He lifted his head then to place a light kiss on my lips. I never knew a kiss could make me melt away into utter bliss until I met him, but then again this was Rex. The man could make running a hundred laps in the blistering sun feel good.
“I missed you too.” He spoke softly making my heart beat a hundred times faster.
A blush rose to my cheeks as I nuzzled my nose into his neck, sinking happily into his warmth.
The next words he spoke had me grinning. He didn’t say, will you be nervous? or you can always say no. He said…
“Are you ready to prove my brothers wrong?” He asked.
“I am.” I grinned.
“Good.” He wrapped his arms around my waist, “Do you want to bake some cookies?”
“Rex.” I laughed looking over to our holoclock, “It’s three am.”
I felt his shoulders move, showing me that he shrugged, “You’re the one who woke me up and we didn’t exactly eat dinner earlier. I’m hungry.”
I rolled over him and off the bed, never letting go of his hand,
When the day of the test came, the entire 501st showed up as well as any clone troopers not being drafted that day. The ramps above the training field were filled with cheers and yells as I got through each droid.
“The general is going to make it!” I heard Hardcase distance voice yell.
I wiped the sweat from my brow as I slowed my breathing. The training droids lied on the ground around me, each with a bullet embedded somewhere on their metal bodies.
“Whoo!” Jesse yelled from where he stood on the platform, “See boys! I told you she could do it! Pay up Kix!” I watched his hand shoot out towards the medic of the group.
I gave the 501st a thumbs up as I fell on my ass in exhaustion. Almost an hour and I finally… Finally! Managed to take out these droids.
“I see you’ve put our famous Jedi to work.” Anakin commended as he stood onto the platform looking down at me with a smirk, “I could’ve done it in half the time.”
“Be my guest sky guy.” I motioned for him to take my place.
His glare was as quick as his attitude, “Did Ahsoka tell you to call me that?” He crossed his arms, looking at his padawan, “Ahsoka.”
“I would never.” Ashoka smirked stepped up beside her master, “Besides, my master likes his lightsaber too much.” She teased as she stepped onto the platform, “I, on the other hand would love to give it a try.”
“Glad to see my old padawan is always up for a challenge.” Windu smiled.
“Master!” I quickly stood up and hoped up on the ramp to greet him.
“You did well.” He nodded approvingly.
“Thank you, master.” I returned his nod with one of my own, “I owe my skills to you.”
“You’ve earned your skills from hard work and focus.” He patted my shoulder, “I’ll leave you to it then.”
Rex kept a respectable distance until Master Windu left to attend an important meeting. Sometimes I forget that we still have to be careful around anyone who wasn’t Anakin, Padme, Cody, Jesse and Ahsoka. Our circle was small, but we quite liked it this way.
My hand found his the moment I reached his side.
He lent down to speak quietly in my ear, “You did good cyare.”
“Did you have any doubt?” I smiled cheekily.
He chuckled leaning back, “Never.”
