Oh, he loves to gift a piece of the dessert he makes or make a whole cake just for you because he is so smitten over you, but how can he not be so cute when your face lights up whenever you try the cakes he makes for you?

He finds it cute whenever you take his glasses off to try them on, asking if you look good with his glasses with a grin on your face, or even better when you mirror the club on his cheek and put on yours, so now you two match with each other.

Just like he did with his younger siblings, he is going to remind you to brush your teeth every day since he doesn't want you to have any cavities since he spoils you a lot. This man cares about dental hygiene.

He is not going to karaoke if life depends on it. He says that he’s a terrible singer, but it’s not like you listen to him; you just love to drag him along and sing a duet together. He wasn’t wrong; he doesn’t really have a good singing voice, but you had fun, so it’s not a big deal.

You’ll bake with him; even if you're bad at baking, he’ll teach you. He tells you that you can’t just get better overnight; it takes time and patience to master something, so don’t think you're lost. If you just want to watch him, that's fine, but you’ll have to grab ingredients for whatever he might be baking.

I can tell he’s just good at cooking in general, so if you don’t have anything to eat or any ingredients to make something when you come back from your class, you can just shoot him a text to help you out. There's nothing to be ashamed of when you ask him.

He doesn’t mind PDA that much, like kissing him on the cheek as you leave or holding his hand, but it does make him blush a little when done in front of other people, especially in front of Cater or Riddle (Riddle just clears his throat to get back on topic).

Cater is basically your boyfriend and best friend at the same time.

He’s always taking photos of you and him doing those cringy couple poses where you kiss him on the cheek. Post that on Magicam because why not show you off? If you don’t have a Magicam account, he’s going to make you one, of course. you're following each other.

You guys probably dress up matching with each other and then do a magicam photoshoot.

He makes doubles of himself just to mess with you, like asking which one is the real him: the one in the Drom uniform or the NRC uniform; if you get it right, you’ll get a kiss, and if you don't, he’ll pout about how he could not know. But don’t worry, he’ll forgive you if you give him a kiss.

Cater doesn’t like sweets that much, but the exception is you, since your lips are so sweet that he just loves them, so don’t mind him stealing kisses from you throughout the day.

He’ll also put a diamond mark on your face just like his, even if you're not in Heartslabyul. You just look cute with his mark on your face (and he’s going to take 100 photos of you with that diamond mark).

His hobby is visiting cafes, and I bet you're going with him. You go to the whole bench together, from maid cafes to cat cafes and even the weird ones, and he doesn’t care unless you're having fun with him, because what's the point if he’s the only one having fun and not you always?

And to add to the cafe, you’ll definitely go to ramen restaurants. He’s going to order the most spicy ramen and then just add more hot sauce, which surprises you, but if you're not a big fan of spicy ramen, it’s fine; you can just order mild ramen.

He loves to tease and pull little pranks on you because you're just easy to mess with (and he loves you). If you try to tease him back and succeed, he’ll deny it all with a flustered face; if you point out his red cheeks and ears, he’ll go quiet in embarrassment.

He loves to impress you with his magic tricks; he’ll even learn new ones so he can keep on seeing your expression filled with amazement by him and only him. It feeds his ego so much.

He’ll invite you to watch him practice basketball after school; he would probably be like "This shot is for you" and then completely miss the hoop while you just start laughing at him. He gets it after the 4th time while he blushes, saying "I got it in, so stop laughing!".

Once you want to surprise him with a cherry pie that you made with your own two hands, he’s going to be ecstatic and tell you that he loves you.

He’ll show you off to everyone like it must suck for them to still be single while he’s in a relationship with the most beautiful person ever; deuce wants to punch him in the face for how annoying ace is being.

Deuce, Jack, and Epel ask if Ace bribed you or if he’s forcing you to be in a relationship with him and are shocked to find you want to be with him.

The boy is nervous at the beginning of your relationship since he’s never been with anyone before (he probably gets embarrassed seeing a kiss scene in a movie and closes his eyes).

Ace makes fun of Deuce since he can’t look him in the eye with his brain going blank and not know what to say, but he gets over it after a while.

Whenever you two are alone together and Deuce ends up in a dispute with some passersby who said he was rude when he bumped their shoulder by accident, he tries to calm the other party down and himself since he doesn’t want to show his delinquent side in front of you, especially since who knows what you might think about him?

But it fails and turns bad, but in the end, the other people run away, and he apologizes to you, saying that he didn’t want you to see that side of him, his face full of shame, but you don’t blame him at all, nor do you see him any different; he’s happy that you don’t.

Back to Deuce being embarrassed, he was freaking out when you first held hands with each other; he was screaming in his head about how lucky he was, and even more when you had your first kiss together like he was on cloud 9, you saw how red his face was.

He would take you blastcycling to the beach to look at the sunset together.

You and Deuce always study together, so you both can be honor students together.

(HEAR ME OUT) i want to write a llorumi au fic but i have so many wips so i will write them out as headcanons as of now

this is a highschool au - mostly similar to the movieverse, but everyone is powerless, there's no ninja, and garmadon is incarcerated in jail. lloyd montgomery and harumi jade are enemies (to friends) to lovers, and they're forbidden lovers because of status quos

main notes:

harumi does not have the traits of being a princess in the canon (kindhearted, sweet) because that was a mask that she wore; that was not her. in this au, harumi is sarcastic, bold, risky, and wants to let go of her bitter past. no, she is not vengeful nor is she manipulative, but she is one of the four founders of the bikers

lloyd's personality is a mix of the show (mellow, sassy) and the movie (quiet, compassionate). yes, he's a nerd - he's part of the dungeons & dragons club and loves starfarer

the bikers are a semi-large group of delinquents who like to ride bikes and motorcycles and are like a found family for each other, mainly consisting of high school teenagers and young adults. the bikers are commonly rumored to be a gang of thieves, but within the bikers, their only real motive is simply to be a shoulder to lean on for each other in the group. the founders include harumi, killow, violet (UV), and echo (mr. e), and they usually occupy laughy's karaoke bar on friday nights

the dungeons & dragons club is run by mr. wu, lloyd's uncle, and they meet once every wednesday. the club consists of lloyd montgomery, kai and nya smith-jiang, jay walker, cole brookstone, zane julien, and morro wu. their current campaign is a story about a team of ninja trying to fight off a ghost who's taken the green ninja, lloyd, captive and under control

plot (so far):

harumi is one of the “popular students you’d want to avoid + rumored to do illegal activities with a gang” kind of people

lloyd is known to be part of the d&d club at school and being friends with the ninja (due to being part of the d&d club), and regularly hangs out with the ninja (minus morro) at school

harumi and lloyd know each other by name and surface level information (harumi heavily rumored to be part of a gang + doing illegal activities, lloyd being your local d&d and starfarer nerd). they’re in opposing groups at school which lowers chances of interaction by an extreme

that is until lloyd and harumi get stuck in detention after school

after they leave school at a later hour, lloyd and harumi get stuck in a sticky situation (that i haven’t figured out what it’d be yet) and they have to depend on each other to get them both out. tooon of banter and insults, sarcasm and sassy quips

eventually they find the bus station and they sit on opposite aisles, ignoring the other because “he’s so annoying” and “she’s extremely reckless”. but then lloyd eventually caves in and thanks harumi for helping them out. harumi doesn’t say thanks back for his help

after that incident (which surprisingly no one knows about), they start noticing each other more often outside of the surface level information they have of each other. sometimes in hallways, they make accidental brief eye contact, but they don't do anything else to acknowledge each other. lloyd’s okay with not having to talk to her at all

one week after the incident, there’s a note left on his desk in neat (though unfamiliar) handwriting that’s telling him to meet at the docks at 4pm after school today. nya leans over his desk to read the note, and lloyd has a gut feeling that he knows who the note's from. nya tails him to the docks

lloyd finds harumi in a secluded area away from the crowded areas in the shadows of one of the warehouses. harumi tosses him a keychain of one of the characters from starfarer. lloyd never knows if she ever stole that keychain or not, but he finally agrees to take it as a thank you note from harumi

the next day, his backpack is seen with the starfarer character keychain dangling from one of the zippers

hanging out / eventual dates:

at some point, harumi drags lloyd along to a party and encourages him to relax and do some illegal activities with her (underage drinking, sneaking in/out), which lloyd reluctantly agrees to

but surprisingly he finds excitement in sneaking out and meeting harumi after curfew

(note: harumi has never personally introduced lloyd to the bikers)

lloyd or harumi at one point gets their drink spiked. i think one being delirious from the spiked drink is what makes the other realize that they have a crush on them

they start doing legal activities after that

i imagine at one point lloyd and harumi go hiking and lloyd experiences some sort of near-death situation and harumi saves him from death

harumi takes lloyd bike riding (she also teaches him some cool tricks) and lloyd introduces harumi to a bit of martial arts (he teaches her how to use a sword)

when harumi admits she’s never had a cake before (or really any kind of sweet food), lloyd is determined to get her to try sweet foods

lloyd takes her to a popular bakery and he makes her try some of their sweets, and he also helps her order bubble tea for the first time. harumi finds a new liking to red velvet macarons and lychee milk tea, and she learns that lloyd loves lollipops and jasmine milk tea

by the time they start regularly ordering bubble tea, they know each others’ go-to orders by heart (including desired toppings, exact sugar and ice level)

the employees there know it, too

childhood talking:

i imagine at some point later on in their friendship they talk about their home lives and their parents

harumi was adopted since her biological parents died in a building collapse when she was 10 years old

her adoptive parents have (very) high expectations for her, but she’s been struggling with school lately so her adoptive parents have her grounded until she can get her grades up

lloyd’s father has been incarcerated in kryptarium prison since he was 8 years old

lloyd wants to hate his dad, but he misses him, and he hates that he misses him

so it ends up becoming a vent-dumping session but they bond over their somewhat shared childhood experiences and they laugh a little about how opposing their lives were and are

jealousy:

lloyd is jealous of harumi because of how bold she is. sure, she breaks the law for fun, but there's something about harumi's determination to help those who need help that lloyd appreciates. she's everything that he wants to be: confident and bold, and a lot less self-conscious

harumi is jealous of lloyd because of how he wants to see the good in everyone. there's something endearing about the way lloyd rambles about his d&d party and the latest edition of starfarer that harumi enjoys. there's traits that she wants to have from him, too: kind and wanting to see the good in people, and she wants to let go of her bitter past

when the ninja and koko find out who lloyd’s been hanging out with:

their suspicion about harumi is collective

i imagine kai specifically tails him sometimes just to be sure harumi doesn’t make any weird moves on lloyd

the ninja ask lloyd why he’s been hanging out with a delinquent to which lloyd argues that she’s not a delinquent, but their words about harumi stick with lloyd

but overall they mainly miss lloyd because he’s been abandoning d&d sessions to hang out with harumi

at some point, probably a little over 6 months since becoming friends with harumi, koko grounds lloyd for sneaking out, which eventually causes lloyd to tell the truth about harumi

the excuse he uses to his friends and family when it comes to hanging out with harumi is that “i want to just be her friend outside of criminal activity” but to himself he’s like “i can fix her.”

koko wants to be supportive of lloyd, but she doesn’t want lloyd to make the same mistake of falling in love with a criminal. koko forbids lloyd from seeing harumi again

this is also when lloyd realizes he’s falling in love with harumi and he berates himself for falling in love with someone who has a bad reputation. “this is literally the worst person you could ever fall in love with what is wrong with you you need to stop being friends with her” that kind of thing

but also she’s like a drug to him. like he wants to be around her and he wants to learn more about her, he loves hanging out with her. like there’s nothing holdin' me back by shawn mendes energy do u get what i mean

when the bikers finds out who harumi’s been hanging out with:

the bikers would be pretty surprised that harumi has been hanging out with someone who’s pretty adamant against breaking the law of all people, but as long as harumi's happy, they’re happy too

they definitely question harumi if she likes him, and she denies any romantic feelings towards lloyd (she has been denying any romantic feelings towards lloyd for months by now)

at laughy's, harumi distances herself from the bikers, looking out the window as she tries to sort her thoughts out. ultra violet notices her strange behavior and they talk for a bit

killow and mr. e reassure that all the bikers care about harumi, and if she wants to focus more on dating, they'll support her

mr. e at one point realizes that the guy harumi has a crush on is e's boyfriend's younger cousin and they take a moment to process this information (yes i'm being self-indulgent and adding citrusshipping / morro x echo)

harumi comes to terms that she does have romantic feelings for lloyd, but she's afraid that if she tells him, he'll want to leave because it'll be so awkward and they're already good friends and she doesn't want to ruin that friendship by admitting her feelings for him

lloyd notes + headcanons:

when garmadon was still around as his father in his life, their family was rich. like they live in a mansion rich

garmadon was a good person and a great dad and husband

shortly after garmadon got arrested and was sent to a number of years in prison, lloyd and koko moved to ninjago city to start a new life away from their first home

lloyd also stole stuff as a kid, specifically starfarer comics. he was also the kid that harumi saw who stole that pack of oreos (he was 8 years old at the time)

however, when lloyd was caught stealing the newest edition of starfarer, he was given a talking to by mother doomsday and lloyd agreed not to steal anymore

koko helped lloyd bleach his hair. his birth hair color is brunet, like garmadon’s

lloyd's favorite candy is lollipops

lloyd is a cat person and has a weird obsession with mythical creatures like dragons and oni

lloyd’s style of clothing is fairly casual and green oriented, and he always always wears converse sneakers

when harumi’s biological parents were still alive, they were pretty tight on money, but they were happy

she is a rebel with little/no cause, and she’s been a bit of a rebel all her life

i imagine the rebelling started when her bio parents were still alive. at the prime age of 8 years old, harumi witnessed some kid stealing a pack of oreos at the grocery store without getting caught and she was like “i wanna do that!” so she started stealing little things like keychains or small toys from popular stores or even graphic tees

when her bio parents found out she was forced to return them and she apologized, but she gained the habit again after her bio parents died

harumi's clothing style is a mix of punk/emo and a whole lotta purple

she also really likes keychains and pins, but she hates wearing hats

she bleached her own hair out of spite of her adoptive parents

she's a cat person and has a weird obsession with spiders. she finds comfort in the lullaby "spider in the house"

i think harumi and lloyd’s personalities would clash really well together and, given the right circumstances, a love story between them could work out :D

i may have guessed from the profile pic alone if nothing else ;)

so! beanix thoughts incoming (warning for being disorganized and messy ahah):

- i think that he and Miles had already been in a relationship for a few months when Phoenix got disbarred. Miles tried incredibly hard to support him and be there for him, but instead of relying on him Phoenix just got more and more withdrawn. eventually they broke up, although it was more of a mutual separation where they both knew they'd end up back together eventually

- Miles was torn because on one hand he felt like Phoenix was pushing him away because he was depressed, and he didn’t want to let that happen, not when Phoenix had been there for him at his darkest times. But at the same time he wanted to respect Phoenix’s wishes and understood that Phoenix needed some time to figure out who he was, a) without his badge, and b) without Miles, having built his identity around those things for so long.

- So they separate for a while and Miles does his best to give Phoenix space although he does check in on him and Trucy periodically to make sure they’re okay. and when they do get back together Phoenix is in a better place and they're both just all around more ready for a serious relationship

- Trucy is the #1 thing that keeps Phoenix going, especially at first- not just because he has an obligation to care for her, but just her herself. she drags him out on walks and invites people over and reminds him to take his meds every day and helps him cook dinner and does so many things that made life more bearable for him

- and for a while he feels guilty about letting his little daughter take care of him, but eventually he realizes that this is her way of showing her gratitude for how he'd taken care of her and trying to do the same for him the best way she knows how. they take care of each other <3

- i am so absolutely torn between “the ‘grape juice’ was actually alcohol and he struggled a bit with alcoholism during the 7yg” and “no it was actually just grape juice the man really does love grape juice”. i cannot decide which one i like better because i think both are great takes for different reasons

-he hangs out with Maya on the weekends and they mostly sit around in their sweatpants complaining and gossiping and eating junk food. a couple times she dragged him out to a bar to do karaoke. she also jumps at every opportunity she gets to babysit Trucy

-i don't think he was ever in the best of physical shape but he definitely gains a significant amount of weight during the 7yg. it's not really a big deal to him but he does get a little self-conscious abt it when he thinks about how the people who knew him before must think he really let himself go. maya, who has always been on the chubbier side, points out to him that chubbier people are softer to hug. trucy concurs. as silly as it sounds, it makes him feel a lot better

-at first the piano thing is very much just a cover for Phoenix's real job at the club but he figures he should learn just enough to be believable, and in the process he discovers it's actually pretty fun and kind of meditative, and starts trying to learn for real. Trucy joins in and is immediately way better than he is. (he's a little put out by this but she cheekily promises to give him pointers)

lockdown

So, I have thought about this. It's not fully formed enough to become something but... I don't know that I would have survived lockdown with that many people, especially in my twenties!

As a group, they get on really well, but I imagine them creating further bonds between them too. Their relationships all had more to uncover, this was their first real co-habitation and it happened to bring along some of their best friends too!

Who needs a week on the Greek Islands, they were holidaying for a big part of it, with the hot tub, theme nights, and new recipes to try out... they held a lot of virtual nights with their friends further afield, with live music/karaoke, quiz nights etc

Sirius joins the girls (and Mia) for yoga, takes up gardening with Fleamont and works his way through the Abercorn library.

James has his workshop around the corner, spends a lot of time exercising and enjoys making art with Dora, Remus and (his mum on occasion).

Each couple for sure had date nights, where the others would clear out to Monty and Mia's, and sometimes at their house for a change of scene, swim under the stars, game of pool etc...

And for at least one weekend, Mia moved into Abercorn and the boys moved around the corner for a break away from their partners (they all still spoke to their significant other every day/night).

There would (of course) be friction and frustrations between them, minor disagreements that could have challenged their peace, but they were fortunate enough to have space from each other in the big house or escape to the garden. No one ever stayed mad for long.

2. M&M

This scene was one of the first to take root in my mind. We approach the party unsure of how they'll move past the past few weeks. James feeling the need to repair the damage caused by the regatta and reeling from the tension between them, pours his soul into singing Perfect. Lily is positioned in his best friend's arms, not his, but she watches him intently and he feels like she's seeing his sincere apology, feels like they are connecting. It was kind of mean of me, making it so that you all could see him have that fleeting hope, only for their talk to not go his way. The thing is, Lily felt the sincerity too, felt the connection too... but she wasn't in a place where she thought she could be in his life, because she didn't want to burden him with her friendship and the complexities that would bring...

Emmeline was gritting her teeth through the whole night, she was trying to show that she was a significant part of James' life, that she was sticking around. When Monty took to the stage, she stood with the group when he invited Lily to the stage she felt blind rage. This girl was everywhere, so involved in this family she would always be around... James moved to his mother's side, and Emmeline took leave to the bathroom, unwilling to watch everyone fawn over the performance. She wasn't there to see the switch, to see Lily and James come together on stage, to sing in harmony, to take a bow hand in hand or disappear together right afterwards.

The boys perform as she knew they were due to and she is caught up in how great it is, James is built to be centre stage, and they put on one hell of a show.

She doesn't know his world has shifted, that the reassurance Lily gave him moments before he got up there was all he needed.

I wanted the break-up to be out loud in front of the ones who needed to hear it, I didn't want it passed along in whispered messages. They all had to know he had had enough, and his mind wouldn't be changed.

if I don't go on a tangent about my FR deity lore/headcanons I will go insane so it is time to do that

(a brief note is that I used to ship a few of them before I was informed that they are in fact considered siblings and retconned that idea. Their relationships are still similar in dynamic but it is no longer in a romantic sense for what I hope to be obvious reasons.)

Windsinger is a very affectionate, effeminate party animal. Icewarden is his stoic designated driver who is very annoyed with him. They hang out a lot, Windsinger's vibrant chaotic energy serving as a healthy contrast to Icewarden's cynical order and etiquette. Sometimes they do karaoke together, since both enjoy singing (though Icewarden is more private about it).

Flamecaller and Tidelord were once bitter rivals, constantly fighting more than any of the other deities. With coming centuries, of course, they began to cool off, and are still pretty good friends. They have a scheduled meeting where they meet at the border of their territories and shout insults at each other because they both find it fun.

Shadowbinder and Plaguebringer are the two loners of the deities, preferring to keep to themselves and not exactly having any other pairings. Their only relationships would be with their closer sisters (Lightweaver and Gladekeeper respectively), whom they squabble with more often than not. The two of them are also two of the four deities who have personally appointed assistants, Shadowbinder having Higgins as her secretary and Plaguebringer's head commander being Arvelle (the other two are Stormcatcher and Lightweaver, though their head employees Boston and Hope are simply freelancers who currently work for the two respectively).

Gladekeeper is the mother of the deities, prioritizing taking care of the life of the realm over all else, which includes her fellow deities to an extent. Flamecaller admires this, having no other real maternal figures to look up to since she's the oldest female deity, and as a result is very close with Gladekeeper. Gladekeeper and Lightweaver are friends, too, and occasionally meet for tea and cookies.

Earthshaker acts as the older brother of the entire family, and works tirelessly to keep them together. He is equally close to all of the deities, though the older ones such as Tidelord and Flamecaller he's closer to solely because he's been with them longer.

Stormcatcher was once best friends with Lightweaver, the two bonding once they met for being the two intellectuals of the group (both of them predated Arcanist) and putting their territories next to each other. They bonded over their collective studies, but over time their priorities began to shift. While Lightweaver focused solely on preserving the past, Stormcatcher was always chasing the future. The conflict between their opposing viewpoints caused them to separate, and the two now are no longer on good terms.

Arcanist looks up to all of the other deities as the youngest brother, though is most fond of Stormcatcher for his ambition and Windsinger for his fun energy. He and Windsinger constantly pester Stormcatcher to hang out with him, Arcanist specifically acting as the Barney to his Fred.

18) Special talents they have? Wayne is a really good card player. I have this hc that he and some of his friends from work get together to play cards on their breaks and days off and I bet Wayne kicks their asses. They don't play for money anymore because, even with pennies, Wayne was clearing the house. They started betting with cheap candy or sugar packets and when Eddie was younger he'd come with Wayne to the games and keep Wayne's winnings safe (he ate them)

Thanks for the ask! These things are fun, but I always take forever to think of good answers.

11- Val's stupid face. Like seriously, who let that man walk around with that mouth, that jawline, and those intense eyes? It's illegal. But as far as Ice himself, the first real characteristic that comes to mind is his loyalty. I don't think he lets very many people into his inner circle, but once he does, he'll do literally anything for them. Slider and Maverick are in this rare group.

16- A headcanon I had about Ice when I was a child or does this mean about Ice's childhood? I'll answer both. TG 86 was arguably my dad's favorite movie (TG:M might have replaced it? Not sure) so I saw it a lot when I was growing up. I always found Ice cold and somewhat of a bully, a lot like Mav sees him at first. I thought he was fair about the rules and safety but a dick with how he showed concern. For Ice's childhood, I think his father never thought he was good enough and his mother was emotionally distant. So you end up with a high achieving guy who is overly independent and goes his own way instead of trusting authority figures. He'll follow the rules because it's the easiest way to get to the top, not because he particularly likes them. There's a deep need for approval that he didn't get filled when young, so he fills the void with career accolades and awards.

20- Ice isn't really someone who follows music. Yeah, sure, he enjoys it, but it's hard to seek it out when you spend most of your life on a carrier at sea. This means that he's way out of touch with what's trending and has no idea who the big artists are and people regularly find that he hasn't heard major songs. Slider tries, but there's just so much ground to cover. Maverick discovered that Ice had never heard anything by Queen when they went to a bar on Karaoke night in the late 90s and Ice had no idea how everyone knew the words to this strange song "Bohemian Rhapsody."

no i cannot drive to save my life. papa assured me there would always be someone to drive me place to place. he also assured miles but miles was INSISTENT on driving on his own and i deadass do not know who taught him because i feel like it could NOT have been papa so he probably just paid for someone hkgh

i usually made gumshoe or whichever random officer i could find drive me places in america and i had personal chauffeurs in europe, although honestly in the later years i was not above taking the bus/train because it's actually pretty nice overseas. miles tried to drive me places a lot when i was visiting but i would not let him! he drives like shit. he's an absolute speed demon and i hate his stupid car. he makes me fucking crazy. he would get SO offended when i'd call gumshoe instead.

i don't think i ever met gregory growing up but i met him after he died (: uhhhhh way late into things we finally wore miles down on the 'ghosts aren't real' thing and maya offered to channel him, for free. originally miles was going to go this alone but he asked me to come with him with no elaboration (he was nervous and wanted his sister there but he wouldn't say it out loud)

Hogwarts Talent Show Headcanon

Yes, yes this is sorta like my karaoke headcanon but it's different enough so whatever lol. Enjoy! Takes place after the war, so 8th year.

To promote inter-house unity, McGonagall announces the First Annual Hogwarts Talent Show.

Everyone thinks it sounds lame at first, but most of them are intrigued enough to try it once McGonagall says that the winning act will get a prize of a free dinner for two in Hogsmeade.

Everyone will vote on their favorite act, but they vote on parchment that's magically charmed to prevent them from voting for themselves.

The acts are as follows:

Ron burps the alphabet (He can totally do this how is this not canon? It's honestly like 30% of the reason why Hermione broke up with him shortly after the war ended.)

Hermione demonstrates a series of obscure but useful spells to make life easier that she read in random books in the Restricted Section. McGonagall raises an eyebrow knowingly at Hermione as she walks off the stage and Hermione doesn't meet her eyes.

Luna plays the recorder, and it moves a few people to tears with how surprisingly beautiful it is. When she finishes the song, she just smiles at the audience and walks off before they can applaud.

Seamus and Dean partner up for an act. Seamus is center stage, sitting on a stool and holding a banana. Dean is off stage with a microphone, narrating and adding dramatic commentary as Seamus nonchalantly peels and eats the banana. It's the funniest act of the night.

Neville is a surprisingly good DJ. He shows off his remixes and mashups and they're really fun; after the show, McGonagall asks him to be the DJ for the Yule Ball.

Pansy and Draco perform a lip-sync to the "Me Against the Music" by Britney Spears. Ron doesn't notice the way that both Hermione and Harry both go wide-eyed and blush during the performance.

Finally, it's Harry's turn.

Harry walks on stage and grins at the audience.

"For those of us who grew up in Muggle households, it came as quite a shock to find that not only was magic real but that we were magical. We heard of Muggle magicians who performed sleight-of-hand tricks for entertainment, and while the average Muggle couldn't tell you how it was performed, no one believes that magic is real."

"Well today," Harry says with a smirk. "I'm going to bring a bit of Muggle magic to Hogwarts. But I'll need a volunteer."

Countless hands shoot up in the air as students clamor and shout for Harry to notice them, to pick them. While McGonagall tries to settle them down, Harry's eyes search the crowd, overlooking every waving arm to find—

"Malfoy, how about you?"

Draco looks up with a start, trying valiantly not to blush as the entire school stares at him with a mix of shock and jealousy.

Draco shakes his head "Er, Potter, I don't—"

"C'mon Malfoy, what, are you scared?"

As a wave of "Ooohhh"s ripples through the audience, Draco clenches his jaw. "You wish."

Everyone whispers fervently as Draco walks onto the stage to greet Harry, who grins.

"Alright, Malfoy," Harry reaches into his pocket to reveal a deck of cards, which he fans out in his hand in front of Draco. "Pick a card, any card, and don't tell me what it is."

Draco raises an eyebrow, but he selects a random card and examines it; a king of hearts.

"Have you got a good look?"

Draco grits his teeth but nods.

"Good, now put it back." Harry offers the deck for Draco to easily slide the card back with the others.

Draco watches, fascinated, as Harry shuffles the deck. Draco tries to listen to what Harry is muttering about; something about the importance of 'building bridges' and 'healing.' But all Draco can focus on is the easy, practiced way Harry's hands manipulate and shuffle the cards.

Finally, Harry holds out the deck in one hand and uses the other to wave over it. "Abracadabra," he says dramatically, staring intently at the cards as if they hold the secrets to the universe.

Harry steadfastly ignores the mix of bewilderment and suspicion on Draco's face. "Go on, choose another card."

Draco picks one; it’s the ten of spades.

"Is that your card?" Harry asks hopefully.

"No," Draco can’t suppress a satisfied smirk as he shows the wrong card to Harry.

Harry frowns. "Hmm...Okay, let's try again." He clears his throat and repeats the same action as before, this time enunciating the "Abracadabra" a bit more clearly. Satisfied, he looks back up at Draco expectantly. "Pick another, please."

Draco rolls his eyes, but he reached into the deck and pulls a four of diamonds.

"Is that your card?"

"No, Potter."

Harry looks so defeated, Draco has to suppress it when he feels his chest twinge in sympathy.

"Damn. I really wanted to get you that card back," Harry says mournfully.

Draco rolls his eyes. "Yes, so did I. I was quite fond of it."

"Oh, wait, actually, I think I can help you there. Check your pocket for me, would you?"

Draco furrows his eyebrows but he reaches into his pockets, his eyes widening when his right hand clasps a flimsy, smooth plastic card.

He takes it out and gapes at it in astonishment as the words, "Dinner?" flash and settle into the king of hearts. Draco looks up at Harry, who smiles sheepishly.

"So, Malfoy? Was that your card?"

"Yeah," Draco breathes, nodding quickly.

Harry grins. "So...is that a yes, then?"

Two nights later, Harry and Draco sit in a corner booth at the Three Broomsticks. Harry reaches gently behind Draco's ear to reveal a galleon.

Draco surges forward and kisses Harry, and all Harry can think is, Abracadabra, indeed.
