So this is going to be a long, odd but maybe funny "question" for you; and since I can't talk to you via MP, this'll do. X)

I'm going to be very honest with you, I extremely dislike Henry Creel and the whole concept surrounding the character, in all of it's forms, whether it's 001 or Vecna. I don't think he's well written, I find him pretty lame & cliché and honestly quite dislikable both as a person and character. Stranger Things 4 is my least favorite season and I consider what's been done in it to have ruined many parts of the show. Yet all of it still weirdly compels me and it's hard ignoring & leaving something you loved and has been the meat your blog for some years now.

Yet I am finding myself in a situation, (not just with you, others that talk about the same things as you, which here is Henry Creel. XD), where I simultaneously agree with you yet I also disagree as well with some of the things I've seen since obviously I've seen some of your posts in my feed and others that are from this side of the fandom. X) It's quite strange to say the least.

And I have to admit I have a soft spot in fandoms for those who get outside the norm and see the show in a different way than most people, especially the GA. 👀 Including in a way different than me of course. ^^ (It's always nice to have a different perspective on things.) And like stuff that usually would get them heat as well. 😏 It's nice to have people who follow and stay with their own ideas and passions that go outside from what you would mostly see from most people. Have debates and exchange ideas or analyses that may or may not change our minds as well, etc etc...

There's however one thing I do agree with you & that I think would be great and solve some of the MANY mistakes, I think, The Duffers made in Season 4: it's your theories about how Henry/The MF & The Creel House are connected and what was truly happening. I do agree with you since it lines up with my thoughts and would bring the complexity that I think was lacking with the character, in my opinion, & would perhaps provide an interesting perspective with what has been going in & with the UD.

It would be too long to elaborate on it but I'm already working on posts about it.

I just wanted to say, I don't know if you already do do this but you should check the ST4 VSF movie inspos. Because they could be very interesting for you and your theories! Since of course they inspired S4 but probably previous seasons as well and is likely going to be used for S5 too.

I don't know how to finish this question but I do like JCB's acting though & he's quite cute too. :3 So that's a plus. 😏

Hi friend! I'm glad you like some of my posts and agree with some of my nonsense. I really liked your post with the DC/comic heroes and the Stranger things characters! I had to look twice when you had Vecna as Batman because that is such a good take and when a majority of this fandom is hell bent on misinterpreting him as a boring, one-dimensional monster who is the source of all evil despite that being completely false and not what canon ever told us, it was a surprise hdjfjdf. Honestly this fandom comes out with the craziest shit and then insists its canon and that they totally analyzed canon to get that take when so much of it is absolute garbage and directly conflicted and disproved by actual canon it literally gives me a fuckin migraine. ALSO while I'm here I think I forgot to add it to the post and I didn't realize till after you were probably going for just DC heroes-- and I really forgot to mention SWAMP THING? Like hello?? I'm gonna blame it on being half asleep but I can't believe I forgot to mention Swamp Thing because Swamp Thing was actually used as inspo to create Vecna as well!! I was meaning to make a post about it actually but this fandom burns me out with its ignorance. Not just its ignorance even but the way it insists its ignorance is actually knowledge and 'narrative awareness'. Absolute KILLS the man. So I'm just gonna info dumb about it here real quick bc this is hilarious and very significant. Swamp Thing as a character is the previously human avatar of "The Green" He was transformed into his demi-god self by "The Green" and he serves The Green which is an ethereal cosmic energy force that is actually portrayed as a massive hivemind. So ONCE AGAIN we have another character important to Vecna's creation and function who is a character who was once human, and was transformed by a powerful eldritch force and serves/is guided by that particular force. Better still, in the DC universe the concept of "The Green" isn't the only comic elemental force. Theres a few of them but in particular there is "The Black" or "The Rot" and this is INCREDIBLY similar to the Mindflayer and the way the presence of it rots and poisons anything it touches/infects. Not only that but the depiction of The Black in the comic is strikingly similar to the mindflayer and the way Henry fond it in the upside down.

I MEAN COME ON LOL. A storming black sky with red lighting hovering above a pit of decay. The scene is near identical.

Vecna is basically the "Swamp thing" of the stranger things universe except as the avatar of stranger things answer to the "The Black" rather than the green.

BUT YEAH. Thank you for taking the time to look at my posts. I promise I'm right about everything.

And as for the ST4 VSF movie inspos, no I actually haven't seen them-- I mean, I havent seen the "list" or its relation to ST/S4. I heard about it and tried to find it but I couldn't, sadly. When I thought I found it turned out the google doc with the list and the info was deleted :(! All the shit I come out with is stuff that I've picked up myself due to being a fan of it as well (Like IT, Hellraiser, HP lovecraft, Comic stuff, Dracula, Silent Hill, The Thing, Ledged, various mythology, etc) And due to a lot of these things being directly referenced through the actual show (Hence I consider them to be the most obvious and important references) but Id love to see the video list of other inspos if you have it!

okay I'm like... a stranger things fan in that i enjoy the show but don't really engage with it very deeply (because it is VERY straight and somewhat predictable and hey, kudos to all the people who subvert it with fanfiction, which i also enjoy, but it's not something i want to write for)

BUT

i am also a huge fear street trilogy fan, fucking adore those movies, and lately my brain won't stop thinking about a stranger things au with the fear street characters

not everything fits neatly one-to-one, but here are a few ideas:

the main thing i got stuck on was the idea of cindy and alice kind of serving as a steddie parallel (so no alice until s4, sadly, but w/e), except i'd keep their backstory from 1978 - in that they used to be best friends, until cindy decided to try to live up to her rich, absentee parents' expectations, alienating herself from both alice and ziggy; cue ultimate Drama for their s4 reunion, when alice has been accused of murder and cindy is trying to keep all the kids safe

deena and sam being mike and el? look, i do think byler is adorable, but i also love the idea of the 90s baby lesbians being the mike/el parallel. deena is (i think) strong-willed enough to be the 'mike' in this situation, while sam is the one who's escaped the lab

kate is dustin. full stop. she's a straight-a student but she's also a massive nerd, and is assertive enough to kidnap cindy and get her to help in s2

i haven't really figured out who would be Nancy in this scenario bc even though Cindy is Steve (down to the polo shirt), she's also a lot like Nancy. so i guess she's like. a fusion of them

at some point Cindy and Alice have a heart to heart, where Alice admits that she wishes she could do what Cindy did so that it would get her out of shadyside, but that she's convinced that the town is cursed (by vecna rather than Satan, but yeah) and so gave up on that. Cindy admits that she's had crippling self doubt all the while and isn't convinced she'll ever be able to leave either

meanwhile, in California, deena has to be physically held back from going after sam's bullies; when Sam slams a roller blade into Main Bully's face, deena walks out holding sam's hand, and she might as well be holding a sign that says "i love my girlfriend and am proud of her"

"violence is bad, deena." "shut the fuck up - you did great, Sam"

ziggy and max are A LOT alike (beyond just being played by sadie sink), so ziggy is vecna's target, and Cindy is going feral trying to find ways to keep both her and Alice safe

(cue a lot of guilt from Cindy because how did she not notice, how did she not realize just how bad it had gotten for her sister)

i don't think i would put nick goode into the story, exactly, but i would probably say "hey when you're picturing one, picture the guy who played adult Nick/Solomon goode". man does a good job being a creep

hard to say who the other adults would be in this story, bc fear street was (purposefully) bereft of actual adults. sorry jopper. it kinda plays into the theme of adults not really being reliable in actual tough situations, so I'm not too upset about it, though

ngl I'm leaning towards Ruby Lane being 8? maybe nurse lane can be the only adult, trying to figure out what happened to her daughter

uhhhh... hmm. Tommy was Cindy's bf for a while, and he's genuinely a good dude, unwittingly gets involved in s2, does his best to help out. unfortunately, i think he also ends up being the mind flayer's avatar in s3 (I'm putting poor Cindy through the ringer I'm so sorry)

this would require A LOT of character development that i would have to build myself but I'm kinda leaning towards arnie being Cindy's Robin? they both end up working at scoops, and bc Cindy knows he's dating Alice (Alice and Arnie do genuinely like each other and like dating, but it's more of a bi4bi arrangement), but Arnie is generally pretty chill around her and Cindy eventually relaxes. they bond during the Russians stuff and arnie comes out as bi, and Cindy is like "cool"

we've got Josh and Simon to round out the Party

Goodness okay... First off, let me say, that I'm looking at this projected two years until S5 as a fun time, where I can play in the Byler/Stranger Things sandbox without canon throwing off my groove. So I'm really excited to write and share some of these stories!

I'm just adding some of the quotes now because I'm modifying the rules okay. I didn't read the rules fully at first.

"Older Relationship" - byler wip, and then under that i have some Will POV angst about growing up queer and some Mike POV about learning how Will likes to be loved. IDK if I'll ever post this. I'm glad I did it though it helped me get in their heads a little. Basically, a character study.

Avatar: The Last Airbender - byler wip. I've actually posted some of this on AO3, and I might return to it one day... "When Will comes back from the dead, his hair is white; his eyes are blue. "

Ripple Effect - byler, the Byer's stay in Hawkins AU, which looking back on, I wished I had titled it something else. I love the story , and I do plan to return to it! I have some working chapters, and plans for character bonding stuff~ I wanted desperately to write a Halloween chapter for Halloween, but I ran out of time. *sobbing* Anyway, here's a working chapter titled "Will Byers vs. a Jealous Mike" "Part of Will's brain is short circuiting because Mike is so close- his dark eyes, his sharp cheeks. Will can feel Mike's breath waft over his face, and Mike's ears are pink.  If Will focused on any of those things though, he would quite literally loose his mind.  So he forces himself to think.  THINK, BYERS."

Nocturne - my bat/vampire AU that has me by the throat rn. I'm so serious. I love this AU! I'm excited with the direction its going. It keeps growing and growing, and if I stay focused I have a feeling this thing might be massive. Like Mike has a lot of stuff to work through, and I have a major plot line and then smaller plot lines keep popping up. For example, the whole Max and Mike relationship exhibition wasn't originally planned, but now I'm committed to it. Anyway, the next chapter should be up soonish.

an atla/stranger things drabble for @messrsbyler who bullied me into giving them fluff. hypothetically speaking, if i were to write a full length series, this would be the final scene of said series lol.

inspired by the song joy by sleeping at last, but if you want the full vibes of what this scene would feel like, i recommend having this song on loop!

Mike loves it when the sun sets.

Maybe that’s counterintuitive to being a firebender. There’s that whole “rise with the sun” thing that’s been an old firebender adage for as far back as any of the history books Mike has ever read can detail. Firebenders rise with the sun. They’re at their most powerful when the sun is out—which is exactly why so many firebenders love the summer months. It’s warmer. The sun is out longer. Most firebenders feel more alive when the sun is out.

Mike has never been like most firebenders though.

Because Mike loves it when the sun sets, and you know what? Mike loves it when the seasons change from summer to fall as well. There’s something beautiful about the way the leaves change color in the fall and something so inherently familiar about the crisp fall breeze that never fails to blow through his hometown. 

And maybe there’s something deeper to it too. Maybe it’s the way that fall represents the way things begin to change—how life is cyclical and how the world moves along, ever steady, in its cycle of seasons. There’s something beautiful about that change, even if it’s a bit melancholy in the fall season. Fall bleeds into winter, and though the seasons change and things begin to die, to Mike, fall has always felt… a bit like home. The coziness of the hearth. The gratitude and love shared among his family and friends. The hope in the darkest parts of the year. 

A hope that can’t be extinguished—no matter what might happen. 

Because even when the sun sets and it fades away into the darkness, the light always returns.

And even when fall comes along and life begins to change and things in the earth begin to die, they always come back.

It’s a cycle.

Joy, Mike thinks, is a lot like that too.

It’s been a long time since he’s felt joy—like a genuine, bone-deep, childlike joy. Maybe that’s because of all that’s happened over these past few years. Maybe it’s because of the way their childhoods changed in a blink of an eye and how all of them lost pieces of themselves along the way. Maybe it’s because Mike… isn’t the person he was, just a few years ago, before all of this ever happened.

But as Mike sits outside, surrounded by his friends, all he can feel is joy. 

He feels joy when he sees Hopper and Joyce, sitting close together and watching over all of them—the way they’ve been doing for years now. They look happy, and their hands are intertwined, with their new golden wedding bands glistening in the golden light of the sunset.

He feels joy when he sees Steve and Robin and Jonathan and Nancy goofing off with each other—something that he really hasn’t seen any of them but Robin do in years. Robin’s got her glider out, and Jonathan does too, and Spirits help them, they’re both trying to somehow get Steve and Nancy off the ground. It’s not going to work, but none of them seem to care. 

He feels joy when he sees Lucas and Dustin and Max laughing with one another as Dustin tries to show and describe some hare-brained invention of his to both Lucas and Max. Mike has no idea what it is, and by the looks of it, neither do Lucas and Max. But Dustin, as usual, is determined, and in spite of the way Lucas and Max both snicker and tease him, it looks like he’s insisting the invention is something important. And really, Mike thinks that Lucas and Max know this—they’re just trying to give him a hard time.

He feels joy when he sees El. It takes a minute for him to find her, because she’s not sitting with the others. Instead, she’s sitting on her own under her favorite old willow tree, with her legs crossed, and she looks like she’s meditating, taking slow, deep breaths in and out. She looks at peace, which… hasn’t always been something that Mike has been able to say about his friend. She’s come a long way, Mike thinks, from the girl he stumbled into out in the pouring rain when he was just trying to find his best friend.

And speaking of his best friend…

Mike looks around the clearing, trying to find Will. Some things never change because like always, Will has somehow managed to blend right into the background. 

But it doesn’t take Mike long to find him.

He’s standing several feet away from the others on his own with his arms wrapped around himself, and he’s staring up at the setting sun. Like El, there’s a peaceful look on his face, and it fills Mike with a certain sense of warmth and familiarity. 

It’s… been a long time since he’s seen Will look this at peace… this happy.

And if anyone in the world deserves to be happy, it’s Will.

Without thinking about it, Mike stands up, and he walks over to his best friend. A gentle breeze blows through the clearing, rustling the leaves on the trees, and Mike takes a deep breath, walking up beside Will.

“Hey,” he says, his voice soft. Will startles, just a bit, and Mike offers him a small smile. “Mind if I join you?”

A slow, gentle smile forms on Will’s face. “Not at all,” he replies, just as soft. “I was just… watching the sunset is all.”

“Yeah, I figured,” Mike says with a small smile. He glances back at the sun and the sky—now full of bright hues of red and orange and yellow. The combination of the two are absolutely beautiful, of course, and Mike loves the sunset. 

But Mike can’t help but look away.

He finds himself instead looking at Will—Will, who watches the sunset with wide and curious eyes and with that gentle, peaceful look on his face. Will, whose lips are parted like he’s about to say something, and whose hair keeps getting blown away from his face, revealing the scarred tattoos Henry had once marked him with years ago. 

Will, who has suffered through so much over these past few years, and yet who has still remained so inherently good. Will, who chooses time and time again to extend mercy to others, to look for solutions that break cycles of abuse and hurt, and to restore what is broken, rather than destroy. 

Will, who simply cannot help but share his joy and his love with other people.

The sunset is beautiful, yes.

But Will Byers? 

Will is absolutely breathtaking.

“Will,” Mike says, his voice barely above a whisper. 

His heart is pounding inside his chest, and… and there are a million things he knows he should say to Will. There are a million things he wants to say to Will.

But as Will turns to look at him, his hazel eyes curious and searching, only one thought comes to Mike’s mind.

I love you.

There’s no hesitation from Mike whatsoever. 

Everything within him knows that he loves Will. He loves Will more than the things that he fears, more than the ways he feels like he falls short, more than the mistakes he’s made, and more than everything else that holds him back. Mike loves Will. 

More than anything else, Mike loves Will.

And so for the first time, Mike lets himself fall.

How fitting it is that he should free fall, deeper and deeper and deeper into love with Will. Because who else but Will—who has always loved the sky and who is intimately familiar with the terrifying and yet oh so freeing nature of taking that first leap into the unknown—is a better partner to hold Mike’s hand tight as they both fall?

And who else but Will is a better partner to hold Mike’s hand tight and teach him how to fly?

The free fall is exhilarating, but when Will kisses him back, Mike feels like he’s on top of the world. He feels like he’s flying, flying, flying—reaching heights that he never even dreamed of reaching, doing things that he never even imagined doing, and feeling emotions that he never even realized were possible. 

This, Mike thinks… this is what pure joy feels like.

This is what freedom feels like.

This is what love feels like.

And who better to teach him these things than the person who has loved him and known him through all the good and all the bad? And who better to receive that same joy and that same freedom and that same love in return than the person whom Mike has loved and has known through all the good and all the bad?

It’s Will.

And it’s always been Will.

Breathless and still in awe, Mike pulls away, just enough to rest his forehead against Will’s own. For a moment that feels a bit like an eternity, it’s just the two of them. To Mike, nobody else in the world matters but Will, and to Will, nobody else in the world matters but Mike.

I love you too, the look in Will’s eyes says, and Mike just smiles softly, reaching out and cupping Will’s cheek, running his thumb across it gently.

There are a million things Mike could say to Will—a million things he wants to say to Will. None of them feel big enough, and Mike thinks he could just spend hours and hours telling Will all the things he wants to say. 

That’s alright though. The two of them… they’ve got all the time in the world.

So, Mike settles on what’s easiest and what he thinks will mean the most to Will. After all, Will gets it. He always does. He’ll know exactly what Mike is trying to say, even if Mike only uses a few words to say it.

“Thank you,” Mike whispers, and he watches as the soft look on Will’s face turns into one of confusion.

“For what?” Will asks, his brow furrowed, and Mike just smiles, leaning forward and kissing him again gently.

For showing all of us what it looks like to hold on to hope.

For being a light in the middle of the darkness.

For never giving up on me or anyone else.

For how good you are. 

For the way that you love.

“For being you,” Mike says, because it’s as simple as that.

Will’s cheeks redden, and he glances down, a shy smile forming on his face. He looks happy—happier than he’s been in years—and Mike wants to memorize every single detail of Will’s face.

Finally, Will looks back up, meeting Mike’s eyes once more. He leans forward, gently pressing his lips onto Mike’s, and he murmurs, “Thank you for giving me the courage to keep being me.”

Mike’s heart does a little fluttery thing—the way it always does around Will—but it feels different this time. For the first time, he doesn’t feel afraid of the free fall or the unknown.

Why should Mike be scared, after all, when he has Will? 

So, with a small smile, Mike just leans close, and he kisses Will again—slower and more deliberate this time. “Always,” he murmurs. “I never want you to stop being you, Will.”

A quiet laugh escapes Will’s lips, but then, he returns the kiss, slow and sweet. “I won’t,” he promises. “Not as long as I have you.”

Mike’s heart does that fluttery thing, and he can’t help but smile again. “You’ll always have me,” he whispers. “No matter what. It’s you and me, Will.”

Will just smiles even brighter. Under the sun’s gentle, golden rays, he looks absolutely radiant, and Mike thinks that this… this must be what forever looks like.

“It’s you and me, Mike,” Will promises softly.

(And this must be what forever feels like.)

hi guys I made another doodle page that took way too long (6.5 hours)

I went a lil crazy with the lighting and stuff but I LOVE how it turned out so. win

top left one is supposed to be them the morning after tsaheylu even though they weren’t at the tree of voices 🎉 I just thought the lighting was pretty
