my hot take on npf in general is that it never should have existed. the limitations on post formatting were what kept posts reasonably manageable—it’s why making themes didn’t used to be a massive headache. the post types were well-defined and easy to properly support in themes.

but as tumblr has moved toward a homogenized, never-leave-the-timeline mobile-app-only platform instead of a blogging platform, i’m not surprised that they’re throwing theme makers (and other creators) under the bus. i honestly don’t believe that staff care in the slightest about the blog aspect of this blogging platform anymore. i’m hard-pressed to find users who even have a custom theme on their blog nowadays—if they have a blog outside the dashboard at all—because that’s how much custom themes as a feature have been suppressed and put on the back burner over the years.

it’s genuinely saddening how tumblr and the way people engage with it has shifted over the years because i used to really like spending my time here. maintaining my blog and making themes was something i really enjoyed and was proud of. but over the past 5 years or so it has become maddening to build themes for this damn site, and it feels like 75% of the users don’t actually know how most of the features work since they’re so used to other platforms like twitter. i just don’t have the patience for it all anymore.

I planned on making it themed to characters I've been more recently Brainrotting over but put in a place holder merlin icon just while I was setting things up and then?? I grew attached and planned the whole theme around him smh this is what he would have wanted I walked right into it huh </3

• It wasn’t your fault you’ve always had a messed up sleep schedule

• Even while living, nighttime had never been able to tame you. It was just your luck that the habit carried on into hell. Figures that the world wouldn’t give you a break even in death

• You weren’t exactly an insomniac, per se. It was quite the opposite in fact. Just a simple case of falling victim to spontaneous naps in the most random of places. Yet never at night

• Narcoleptic & nocturnal were the terms that your friends used to use for you. With grins, they’d compared you to an owl; always up at night wandering aimlessly. Sometimes for days on end you’d carry on doing this and that, only to curl into a ball the next day and remain that way

• The habit never was anything more than a nuisance until you’d started living at the hotel. The place was just so big, with so many places for you to lie down before the thought of your bedroom even crossed your mind

• Angel Dust was the first person to find you passed out. He had been strolling into the kitchen, looking for something to consume that wasn’t drugs for once, when he spied you hunched over the counter snoring softly

• In your hand was a wooden spoon covered in a creamy batter of some sort, a bowl beneath it with the same concoction. Almost as if you had been making something before passing out

• Briefly checking his phone, the spider confirmed that it was only two in the afternoon, and approached you with a sly smile

• You were promptly startled awake by a loud shout directly next to your ear

• “I’m sorry—“ Angel laughed wildly as you fumed, not sounding sorry at all. “—but you should have seen your face.” He clutched his stomach as he fell into another laughing fit

• “Hey! Watch it!”

• He ducked with a frown as you sent the spoon flying at his head, just barely missing the porn star’s styled hair

• Everyone quickly made their own discovery about your weird sleeping habits soon after. Each in their own embarrassing ways

• Vaggie witnessed you lying on the stairs looking positively drained one morning, and Charlie even found you face first on the bar counter while Husk wiped away at a cocktail glass

• “Too much to drink?” She asked the cat, lifting up one of your arms between her thumb and forefinger carefully, almost as if you’d wake if she pressed to hard

• Husk laughed to himself at the question, remembering how he had turned to make you a shot before coming back to the sight before him now

• “Not exactly.” He huffed

• Perhaps best example of just how bad your timing was came in the form of an impromptu staff meeting

• Alastor had called everyone— more like demanded them —into the main parlor for an announcement one day. A mere week after the kitchen incident with Angel, in fact

• With a flourish of shadowy magic and a twirl of his hands, the overlord presented some sort of home made commercial on the age old TV the place had, looking very amused with himself as he did so

• You tried to pay attention, you really did. But at one point the actors and stray blood splatters started to look like the back of your eyelids

• By the time it was over, Alastor was tapping his fingers along the top of the picture box rhythmically while everyone looked at him with awkward smiles

• But you? Well—

• “So!” Alastor cheered with a cheesy grin as he spun on his heel. The rest of the members in the room watched him awkwardly, not noticing that your head had hit the back of the couch at a rough angle. “What do you all thi— are they asleep.”

• Static bled into the demons voice at an alarming rate as you let out a half jolt at the shift in mood, falling off the couch with a yelp in your wake

• You took a moment to swipe at your face wildly before blanching at Alastor towering over you nervously

• “Uh, my bad?”

• Alastor’s smile strained itself so thin, you thought it would split his face in half

• “Glad to know I’m keeping you entertained.” He all but laughed happily. But the white knuckled grip on his microphone told you otherwise

• You recall Charlie telling you something about ignorance being one of Alastor’s least favorite things. Especially when it came to his little spectacles

• “Maybe we’ve had enough peer feedback for today—“ Vaggie cut in cautiously

• “I concur.” Came your quick agreement

• You made sure to avoid Alastor for a few days after that

just a small callout post bc me and my friends have been buzzing about this for a while ! one of us has reported this to af staff and nothing has been done so

anyway there's a terf website called lolcow.farm that's pretty much devoted to harassing trans ppl .

many of them use a lot of terf dogwhistles, such as saintly having a character with a scum armband which is a clear reference to scum manifesto, a popular radfem text that calls for the murder and harassment of all "men" trans women included. others tell you not to assume their characters are trans, basically !

No, not this year. <:)

It didn't sit right with me, the way ArtFight has been handled by its staff and participants these past few years (with the whole debacle with the donation money being pocketed, the way the Discord was being prioritized over the actual site, the lack of actual moderation in regards to reporting attacks, the way people just. Do not read the character profiles or permissions).

Don't get me wrong, I had fun while I participated in ArtFight, and I loved every little bit of art I was gifted!! But too many little slights and headaches piled up and I decided to just steer clear of it from now on.

I've actually updated my ArtFight profile to say so, and included a link to my carrd on where to find me elsewhere instead.

I've also hidden all my characters in the meantime, and will probably delete them after doing some archive work. I didn't competely delete my account because 1) I didn't want someone else to take my username and impersonate me, and 2) I wanted all the attacks I did to still be readily accessible to the owners of the characters (and vice versa with people who did art for me)!

Instead of doing a traditional ArtFight in July, I'll be doing a smaller scale, month long fanart/art trade game with some close friends of mine. :)

A dive bar located in the Brume of Ishgard. All are welcome and drinks are cheap. The Rusty Mug has a neighborhood bar feel. While it is nothing fancy, it does have seats!

A sanctuary for those who feel more comfortable drinking from dented tin than from a wine glass. A place where the owner and staff will turn a blind eye or ear if they overhear shady business talk.

While we do cater primarily to those who are lowborn or commoners, all are welcome. Though do keep in mind that nobility and noticeably high class types will not be particularly popular or treated politely.

A warm smile paired with intense bright green eyes greet each new face with compassion and an open heart. Mere ilms away one could catch scents of flora, woods, and cut grass lingering on the Viera- a scent always true to who she is and a reflection of her passion as an Gleaner. Tall ears stand upright with confidence above a blanket of long flowing brown hair; lovingly weaved with fresh flowers and herbs. Though her height and Viera heritage tends to make her stand out more as a denizen of Sharlayan, she is still outwardly approachable and will always see the light in others and gladly offer her assistance to those in need, stranger or not. Sometimes seen with a tome, or maybe a staff but scarcely equipped for combat. The Gleaner's pack stuffed full of tomes, vials and an array of nearly any herbal or medicinal concoction one could need.

since i’m actually thinking about it today, i’m gonna talk about my very not-canon-compliant fake Mario & Luigi fangame

yea i know what you’re thinking and i PROMISE THERE IS A REASON FOR MAGICALLY BRINGING BACK ALL OF THE VILLAINS (it’s also because i miss them but there is a legit reason)

here’s where it gets long, so if you hate reading:

TL;DR, Alien kingdom is destroyed except for the king (King Galivus), his daughter (Princess Europa) and the royal advisor (Obriel). Galivus is separated from the two and doesn’t actually know they’re alive. The king speedruns thru like 4 stages of grief but he can’t accept this so he wants to rebuild his entire kingdom DIRECTLY on top of the Mushroom Kingdom.

oh and he’s only there in the first place because to rebuild his kingdom he needs dark energy and magic which he gets from reanimating the previous m&l villains since their souls are a potent source of dark magic. he promises them a new and better world (and a second chance at fighting the Mario Bros.) but in the end he’s only going to use them for their power to get back his family and his subjects and then discard them

bowser is the only one that isnt coerced into king galivus’ bullshit so he the bros team up with the princess of voidspell to stop her dad from destroying the world yadda yadda

yeah, that was the tldr now get ready for the big guns (longer and more detailed version)

King Galivus (new guy beside Fawful in the image) was once the noble king of a distant kingdom out in space, the Voidspell Kingdom. That is, until it was destroyed by a rogue Starswallower; colossal space wyrms closely related to Blarggs that are thought of as deities across the galaxy. Galivus was thought to be the only survivor, and so he reluctantly fled through a portal before he could be caught in the falling debris. This coincidentally led him all the way across space to— you guessed it— the Mushroom Kingdom.

Before he arrived, Galivus rashly decided that he would bring back his fallen kingdom at any cost. For that, he would need a tremendous amount of dark energy. Which is why he headed directly to the Mushroom Kingdom— he had picked up on such a powerful energy signal, and a dark one at that. It was clear, this was the place to rebuild. The energy signal is actually remnants of Mario’s past foes, Cackletta, Fawful, The Shroob Princesses, and Antasma. Their very souls are brewing with dark energy, a perfect source of power. With all this magic combined, it would be enough to rebuild the entirety of Voidspell AND bring back Galivus’ loved ones.

So, he does the sensible thing, and uses his Twisted Staff to revive each villain. Some are reluctant to go along with his scheme, and others are ecstatic to be alive/in working order again and will gladly go along with Galivus’ plan. In exchange for their cooperation, he promises a nice little spot for them in his new world… and another chance at exacting their revenge on the Mario Bros.

What Galivus wasn’t aware of, was that there were two other survivors; the royal advisor and the princess of Voidspell, Galivus’ own daughter. They had escaped to the Mushroom Kingdom in a separate portal, out of Galivus’ reach. The queen and the rest of the castle’s inhabitants had been lost, but with Princess Europa alive, there was a chance at bringing Galivus back down to earth and stopping his selfish acts. She and the royal advisor, Obriel, seek out Mario and Luigi to help stop Galivus from destroying the Mushroom kingdom, its neighboring countries, and possibly the entire planet.

Also, Queen Jaydes certainly isn’t happy about Cackletta (and the rest of the villains, but mostly her cuz she’s died like two times now) being let off the hook so easily. Her and the bean witch definitely still have beef with each other.

There’s probably a lot that I missed or haven’t written down yet, but that’s most of it!! If you’ve taken the time to read all that, i love you <3 HAHAHA

According to cassian, tumblr already took down a similar post on Instagram after they requested, but as of now the Twitter one is still up (cassian requested that it be taken down 12 hours ago, about 13 hours after tumblr posted it)

Tbh I thought the tumblr acc got specific permission from the artist to repost their work, but this doesn't seem to be the case and I think it should be 🤷🏽‍♀️
