Written for @buckybarnesevents “Hot Bucky Summer” - Week 6 - “I won’t be able to stop myself. + Sex Pollen + Gone feral + Fuck or die
Read the alternative version here: Caught Cold. Please consider, the beginning of the story is the same as its alternative version.
Major Tags/Triggers/Warnings: a/b/o, a/b/o dynamics, chasing, sex pollen, smut, unprotected sex, mating bites, I’ll label this one dub-con due to sex pollen
Tumblr media
A white mist fills the room after you drop one of the vials you found at the old warehouse. You curse yourself, already hearing Bucky nag. He’s not a big fan of you, especially because you are an omega. If you just screwed this mission up, you won’t hear the end of it.
Bucky holds up his right hand. “AGENT Y/L/N, no! What did you do?“ There’s something in his voice you’ve never heard before. Panic, fear, even. “We gotta get out of here.”
He covers his mouth and nose with his gloved hand. “OUT!”
“Out?” You look around the room. Everything was normal a few seconds ago, and now the former Winter Soldier looks like he saw a ghost. “Sergeant, we have our orders. Captain Rogers wants us to secure the information.”
“OUT!” It’s more of a growl than a word. Bucky takes one step toward you, still covering his mouth. “Y/N, stop talking back for once. We need to…”
His whole body suddenly sizes up. The strong and undefeatable super-soldier falls to his knees. He slams his fists into the ground.
“Sergeant?” You step away from him. Bucky is a little broody, grumpy even. But the man kneeling on the ground stares up at you with glowing eyes. “Sergeant Barnes?” Now you panic. He slams his metal fist into the ground. “You’re scaring me.”
“You…” He growls deep and guttural. “You need to run. Go now.” Bucky seems to fight with an invisible force. He rams his fist into the ground to keep himself from getting back up.
“Why?” You are panicking now. “Sergeant? What’s wrong? Are you sick?”
“I can smell your pussy,” he snarls in your direction.
“What?” You drop your eyes to your crotch. Can he really smell that his closeness arouses you? You heard that alphas could smell when you are fertile, but can he smell your slick too? "Sergeant, we can’t leave. Why do you want to leave?”
“I won’t be able to stop myself.” Bucky groans loudly as he rams his metal fist into the ground again. “OMEGA!” He purrs low in his throat.
“Oh. God.” You step back, shaking your head, when he gets back on his feet. Bucky cracks his neck and flexes his metal arm. He stares at you like he wants to eat you alive.
“RUN!” It’s the last warning you’ll get. Bucky is close to losing his mind. His alpha is taking over, and there is no rational thought left.
You finally set things into motion and run out of the room. While Bucky growls your name, you try to get in contact with Steve and the rest of the team.
“Captain Rogers, this is an emergency. I think something is wrong with Sergeant Barnes,” you pant while looking over your shoulder. “Can you hear me? Copy?”
All you get is radio silence. Crap. This is the worst time to lose contact with your team.
“OMEGA!” You shriek when you hear Bucky chase after you. Fuck, for a man his size, he’s fucking fast and stealthy. “Come here.”
Like a wild animal, he chases after you, growling your name as you start running again. Your heart thunders in your chest, and your brain goes a mile a minute. You’re torn between following his alpha command and the fear that causes you to run faster.
Until now, you believed that Bucky would never hurt you. But he’s not himself, and you fear he’ll kill you if he gets his hands on you.
He didn’t warn you for nothing.
“Stop running from me.” He’s so close you can smell his sweat. Fuck, how can that fucker run so fast without being out of breath? “OMEGA!”
“Sergeant,” you stumble back. “You need to calm down.” You raise your hands. “I know that I broke the vial, but that’s no reason to kill me!”
“Kill you,” he bares his teeth and chuckles. “I won’t kill you.” You swallow thickly as his eyes drop to your crotch. “I only want to claim what’s rightfully mine.”
Bucky dips his head. He smirks, and you swear, it looks like the fucker is having a blast chasing you around.
“Sergeant,” you giggle. “I’m flattered really, but…uh…this is not the time to think about your knot.” You point at him. “I don’t want you to do something you’ll regret.”
His eyes darkened at your words. “Stop running away from me. Give up. This is your fault for breaking the vial. You released the sex pollen.”
“Sex pollen?” You release a shuddery breath as the realization hits you. Sex pollen. You heard that term before. Doctor Banner mentioned it months ago. “No…this can’t be. It shouldn’t exist any longer.”
Bucky watches you like a hawk. Every move you make gets noticed by him. He’s an apex predator, an alpha, and a super-soldier with higher senses. Outrunning him won’t work out for you.
“Captain Rogers, can you hear me,” you whisper into the void. Your earpiece is useless. White noise is all you hear. “Fuck…”
Bucky smirks darkly when you lick your lips. He looks like a wild wolf with his teeth bared and his eyes glowing. “They want me to mate you, omega.” He sniffs in your direction. “Lucky me, getting such a nice little pussy today.”
“Hah, yeah…you’re very funny.” You show your palms while slowly walking back. One step, after another.
Bucky cannot know that your panties are soaked and that you’d love to have him on top of you. He’s your supervisor and a fucking super-soldier. You’re not sure if you can take him.
What if he breaks your hips? You giggle at the thought, feeling silly. Bucky would never be interested in mating you. Right? Right…
“I told you to run,” he growls now. “I need to mate you.” Bucky curls his shoulders, eyes glued to you. His eyes flick to your face when you move back again.
“Can you not…jerk it out of your body?” You must sound hilarious because Bucky snorts at your comment. “No?” You frown. Bucky tries to fight the toxin; you can see it in his eyes.
“Come. Here,” he spits while talking. “OMEGA!”
You remember Bruce’s words now. Sex pollen was created to make the alphas compliant. A forced rut and an omega in heat were all they needed to control the soldiers. If they refused to mate, the sex pollen would kill them.
“Sergeant,” you slowly take a step back, and another. “I know you believe you must mate me. Believe me, I like me a good fuck but we’re in the middle of a mission.”
He grins darkly. Bucky watches you turn on your heels to go for a sprint. His growls echo through the abandoned building when you run along the corridor.
You don’t stand a chance. The fucker is fucking thick, and beefy but damn him, that man can run. He goes for a sprint, catching up with you in no time.
You feel his breath before he pounces on you. He tackles you to the ground, immediately burying you under his heavy body. “Sergeant,” you snarl feeling his lips nip at your neck. “This is inappropriate.”
Well, no shit. His erection is pressing against your ass, and you can tell, that man is packing. While Bucky tugs at your tactical suit, you wonder if his dick is another perk of being a super-soldier or if he was packing before Hydra got their hands on him.
“Hey, what,” you whimper when Bucky cuts your tactical suit open. He’s done fooling around. He needs to feel your cunt around him. “I liked that suit.”
You groan, and mutter but it’s no use. Bucky rips the remnants of your brand-new suit down your body before you can call him a jerk.
“Omega,” he hums in appreciation while staring at your exposed body. “Mine.” You debate to get up and try to run again. Bucky is much faster than you, he proved it more than once today. Plus, you always had a thing for the grumpy man.
You hate yourself for it, but you lie still and listen to him cursing and growling. Not because you are scared of fighting him, but to save his life. If the test results Doctor Banner told you about are true, Bucky could die if he doesn’t fuck the toxin out of his body.
“Fuck,” he curses behind you. Bucky is on you again, to cover your body with his large, hard one. He ruts against you, hoping to ease the pain in his groin. Bucky presses his aching cock between your legs, moving against your clit. “Mine…only mine.”
If anything, gets even harder feeling your slick cover his length. “Sergeant,” you wiggle your hips. If he forces you to feel his dick, you want to have him inside of you. “Fuck…” You pant heavily.
He’s growling incorrect words in your ear. You don’t understand a thing, only your name and that he wants to breed you.
His skilled hands, made to defeat any enemy, carefully lift your butt to line himself up with your soaked hole. Bucky fully sheaths himself inside your welcome warmth with one hard thrust. He whines into your neck, ready to pop his knot anytime.
Mine. Mine. Mine. He chants in his mind while slowly starting to rock into you. Bucky never felt so welcome inside a body.
His powerful thrusts make you groan. He’s mounting you like you’re some animal, but your body greedily welcomes him.
Bucky grips your hips, holding you pinned to the ground. “Mine.” His movement becomes erratic when you start to whimper his name. He doesn’t stop. Bucky plunges into you, with only one thought left; to breed and claim you and your body. “Mine…”
“Fuck… Sergeant…” you wiggle your hips, unable to meet his thrust. “I’m gonna…” Shit… fuck… it’s too late. Your cunt grips him tightly, forcing his knot to expand. Bucky sinks his teeth in your neck the moment his release fills you.
“Shit…” Bucky won’t let go of your neck. He grunts against you, feeling his knot lock you together. “What did you do?”
“I,” he finally releases your neck to stare at your now-marked mating gland. He releases an inhuman noise before rutting into you a few more times. “Mine…”
You’re too exhausted to argue. His body still presses you to the ground, and his knot won’t deflate for some time. Lying still you close your eyes and allow yourself to rest for a moment. It’s all too much.
Bucky moves his arms around your body and buries his face in your neck. He nuzzles you while feeling the fog clouding his mind slowly start to fade away.
“Y/N! BUCK!”You stiffen underneath Bucky when you recognize Steve’s voice. “BUCK!”
“Capsicle, can you slow down?” Tony whistles the moment his eyes land on Bucky’s naked ass. He snickers and decides to snap a few pictures. “Buckethead, that’s not how we train our rookies,” Tony tsks.
“Tony,” Steve grunts. He looks anywhere but at his friend and you buried under the heavy alpha. “Can you just not.”
“I told you it’s an emergency,” you mutter from under Bucky. “You didn’t listen.”
“What happened?” Steve tries to find out what happened while Tony snickers behind his back. “Tony, just stop it.” He angrily raises his fist.
“Sex pollen,” Bucky slurs. “She dropped sex pollen.” He huffs into your neck. “I had to breed her.”
“Yeah, can you not tell anyone about our little breeding escapade, Sergeant,” you grumble. It’s worse enough that Captain America and Tony walked in on you.
“Steve, some privacy please,” Bucky wraps his arms tighter around your body to roll to his side to take his weight off of you.
Steve gives Tony a stern look. He huffs and jerks his head toward the entrance. “Let’s give them some time. Sex pollen is the worst…”
Tony furrows his brows. “How do you know, Capsicle?” He follows Steve outside the building. “Did you…you know…experience it too.”
While Steve and Tony fight over his phone and the pictures he took of Bucky’s naked ass, Bucky nuzzles you and murmurs your name.
He worriedly looks at you in his arms, sighing deeply. “Are you cold? I can’t move but I can roll on my back. I’m sorry about…uh…everything.”
“I don’t want Tony to see my naked ass…” You both start laughing at that. There’s a lot to talk about, especially the fact that Bucky claimed you…”

PRADA SHOES + I LOVE YOUS TEASER
PAIRING: heeseung x fem!reader
GENRE: smut, angst, crack, (some?) fluff, college!au, exes to lovers!au, enemies to lovers!au, socialite/richkid!au
SUMMARY: Life as a socialite wasn’t all champagnes and designer labels, especially not with the turn your reputation took due to a simple misunderstanding. Now, you were being painted by everyone as a big fat cheater who shattered her sweet boyfriend’s heart—a narrative that couldn’t be further from the truth. In reality, it was him who had betrayed your trust. Frustrated and feeling deeply wronged, you returned to society and the new school year after a summer of cutting off contact with everyone and the drama. But just when you thought you were ready to face the world again, you were blindsided by something unexpected: the lingering effect Heeseung had on you. And who could blame you? Heeseung was way too hot for you to get over in just three short months and now, seeing him with the girl he once told you not to worry about all over him? Oh, it was on.
You refused to be replaced, labeled as a crazy ex, or forgotten. No, you were going to make Lee Heeseung realize that you were the best motherfucking thing to had ever happened to him.
WC: 1.3K for teaser (i'm thinking 20k+ for the actual fic)
WARNINGS (FOR THE TEASER): profanity + mentions of infidelity
RELEASE DATE: Unknown but I am aiming for before summer ends
AUTHOR'S NOTE: Hey everyone!! lt's been so long since I've posted one of these so I decided to give you a really long teaser and also cause this is going to be a long one to write so you'll have to be a little more patient! But I hope you guys enjoy this and is excited for this fic cause I love writing it! Everyone is so messy (and lowkey kinda terrible) but it'll be a fun one so pls look forward to it!! Lmk if you wanna be on the taglist ☺️
Heeseung was going to fucking kill Jake Sim.
When he woke up this morning, you were the last thing on his mind, something he seemed to have finally freed himself from. However, all the hard work he put into casting you away from his mind seemed to have been in vain, as now all he could think about was you and how you had returned after three months of radio silence with the guy you cheated on him with.
Livid didn’t even cover what he was feeling, and it was evident in the way he swung his club. Each hit seemed to be driven by a surge of pent-up frustration.
“What the hell, man? That’s the third time today you’ve been way off course. What’s going on?” Jay shot him an incredulous look as he tried to locate where the golf ball had landed.
Heeseung let out a frustrated groan as he ripped off his glove and shoved his driver back into his bag. “Y/N’s fucking back.”
That was all Jay needed to hear to understand what was going on with his friend. "Shit, I saw. I’m sorry dude, it’s fucked up."
Heeseung was in no mindset to be playing golf right now. All he wanted was to go back home and wallow miserably in his bed. Unfortunately, they were only on hole ten of eighteen, and judging by his performance today, Heeseung knew it was going to take awhile.
"Did you know?" Heeseung couldn't help but blurt out, his frustration evident in his voice as he watched Jay effortlessly swing a shot miles better than his own.
Confusion flickered across Jay's face as he turned to face his friend. "What do you mean?"
“Did you know that she was coming back with Jake?” Heeseung felt his jaw tense as he mentioned his ex-friend.
“I didn’t even know he was with her until today. Honestly, I thought he’d just fucked off somewhere and didn’t bother telling any of us, considering how things went down. You know me, I would’ve told you straight up if I had found out earlier.” Heeseung trusted Jay implicitly. He was as loyal as they came, but unfortunately, the same couldn’t be said for everyone in their friend group.
"Do you think Sunghoon knew?" Heeseung's question elicited an audible groan from Jay.
If anyone in their friend group knew how Jake spent his summer, it would undoubtedly be Sunghoon. However, Sunghoon was notoriously tight-lipped, especially when it came to sensitive matters. Since the breakup, the entire friend group had undergone an incredibly awkward shift. It seemed that everyone had more or less chosen a side, and allegiances were clear.
"You know he wouldn't tell us anything if he did. It's getting ridiculous. The other day, I saw Gaeul and him having brunch or something at the clubhouse, and the moment she spotted me, she practically sprinted over to explain herself. She claimed she's still 'Switzerland' in the whole situation and hasn't chosen a side," Jay recounted, frustration evident in his voice.
Heeseung almost snorted at the absurdity of it all. Their friend group had never been one to keep secrets or tiptoe around each other, but the last few months had been nothing but that. The betrayal by you and Jake had not only affected Heeseung's relationship with you but had also tainted the dynamic of their entire friend group.
“Literally, what is there to be ‘Switzerland’ about? I mean, this whole thing isn’t even complicated. Everyone saw them go into the bathroom together and come out literally holding hands. Trust me, I know what she looks like after giving head, and that's literally what she looked like in that video Beomgyu sent. Plus, Karina literally heard them.” Heeseung angrily got into the golf cart as Jay fished the keys out to start driving.
“Okay, well, no offense, but in all honesty, Karina’s probably not the most reliable source, cause she’s in an extremely biased position, but I guess that’s beside the point.” Jay’s words seemed to instantly bring a frown upon Heeseung’s face.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Heeseung’s tone sharply switched up in an almost defensive manner.
Jay, feeling this shift, nervously cleared his throat as he stammered, trying his best not to offend his already sensitive friend regarding an even more fragile situation. “I mean, uh, well. You know…”
“What?” The grip he had on the seat of the golf cart seemed to get tighter as he waited for his friend to elaborate.
“Dude, you can't be serious? You know Karina’s been trying to ride your dick for the past, what, give or take ten years? I mean, we all know that she’s never had a good relationship with Y/N, and I’m pretty sure most of that resentment stemmed from the fact that you’ve always been head over heels for Y/N.” Jay slowly parked the cart and turned off the engine as he explained.
Still not understanding Jay’s point, Heeseung furrowed his brows, shooting his friend another annoyed look before getting out of the golf cart. “What are you trying to get at?”
“Jesus fucking Christ, you’re dense. I mean, the last couple of months before Y/N cheated on you was the closest you seemed to have gotten with Karina because of that final project that you guys had or whatever. I mean, you were with her more times than you were with your own girlfriend, and knowing Karina, she seems like she could be delusional enough to have maybe taken that as a sign that you were interested in her? I mean, this is all speculation, but I’m just letting you know what we all saw.”
Jay cautiously treaded this topic. Heeseung was his best friend since they were babies, and he would always be on his side, but Karina was never anyone’s favorite with her extremely polarizing personality. He had no allegiance towards her, not to mention that she wasn’t actually even in their friend group and always only ever found lingering around wherever Heeseung was, so it was much easier for Jay to actually see through her. In fact, it seemed that all of their friends could pretty much catch on to Karina’s end goal except Heeseung.
“So you think it’s my fault that Y/N cheated on me?” The air got tense as Heeseung snapped at Jay while snatching his 7-iron out of the bag. “Just because I spent some time doing a stupid fucking school project with Karina doesn’t mean it gives her reason to go and suck off one of my best friends.”
Jay shook his head even before Heeseung was done with his sentence. Heeseung seemed to not be getting the point. “Fuck no, dude, that’s not what I’m saying. Karina has an incentive: you. If she gets rid of Y/N, then it means you’re up for grabs. Of course, Karina didn’t force Y/N to get on her knees for Sim, but she was the first one to come running, telling us what happened even before Beomgyu sent that video.” Heeseung was trying hard to focus on trying to get his ball on the green as he geared up to swing while listening to Jay.
“So you don’t think she should’ve warned me of what she heard?” He swung precisely, but it seemed that this whole course, to be precise, wasn’t going easy on him. He’d be lucky to get even a double bogey on the par-4.
Jay slightly grimaced at Heeseung’s shot. “No, it’s not that,” he let out a sigh as he walked over to Heeseung. “Look, you’ve been my best friend for as long as I can remember, and I know the past few months have been fucking hard because of what Y/N put you through, and I just want you to be careful. Karina’s always been kind of a conniving, spoiled bitch who finds a way to get what she wants. Just because she’s been warming your bed every night since Y/N fell off the fucking Earth doesn’t mean she should be someone you start trusting.”
There was nothing he could say back to his friend’s words and it seemed that what Jay had said clung on deep to Heeseung's thoughts throughout the day, casting a lingering shadow and leaving a bitter aftertaste in his mind.

johnny en las almas
It feels like the man with the skull mask had just left when another person traipses in through the broken front door. He's not as sneaky as the big boy— the shattered glass of your windows crunching under his boots with each step. With each inhale, his breath is ragged and uneven, his teeth clattering together due to the biting cold of the rain pouring outside.
Peeking through the crack of the closet door, you watch the muscle-bound soldier with the mohawk moving cautiously through your home— first going left towards your bedroom, then right towards the bathroom.
"Picked up some tape." Scottish accent. Is he talking to himself?
A brief pause settled in the air, interrupted solely by the faint noise of him rummaging through the cupboard.
"If I have to wrap a gift?" He has a radio, then.
Following that, he falls silent, continuing his search for supplies when the plastic bucket you're sitting on unexpectedly caves in, causing a loud and startling noise. Shit. Shit shit shit—
"Out, palms flat on the floor, or I break yer neck." His voice is like steel— hard and cold, much unlike a few minutes before when he was bantering with whoever it was.
You push the door open with the crown of your head to keep your hands flat on the floor as you fearfully crawl out, craning your neck to look at him.
"Creepin' bloody jesus. Cannae be scarin' me like tha', coulda killed ye."
Perhaps it's the overwhelming stress of everything that has unfolded today— from the unexpected arrival of Americans to the uncertainty of becoming just another statistic that leads you to respond with an unwise touch of sarcasm.
"So sorry, friend. I'll be sure to let you know when I leave for work tomorrow, yeah?"
He surprisingly chuckles, wincing when his shoulders shake. "Aye, sorry, sorry," he extends a hand toward you. "Terrible hidin' spot, though."
With a single motion, he effortlessly raises you to your feet. "If you're friends with a bear-sized man that wears a skull mask, he told me the same thing."
As you glance downwards, brushing off the dust from your knees, you fail to notice the piercing gaze he directs towards you. "He came through here?"
"Mhm," you confirm. "Picked me up like a dog and threw me in this closet behind him. He saved my life, though."
Straightening, you glance up at him, only to finally notice the openly bleeding wound on his right arm. "May I?" you gesture at his injury.
His hesitance is obvious, the corner of his thin lips pulling downward and dark brows furrowing so you confess, "I'm a nurse. Well, was, until I came here. I swear to know what I'm doing. Come with me, I've-" but whatever you were about to say is smothered by his hand, fingers digging into your soft cheeks, and uses his other to place a finger over his mouth.
Silence.
He turns his head to the side; an unsettling stillness descending upon the two of you. Suddenly, he's roughly grabbing your wrist and dragging you to the bedroom, where he presses you firmly against the wall closest to the door.
He whispers harshly into your ear. "Do. not. move."
Trembling with fear, you instinctively curl up, shrinking into yourself as if trying to disappear from sight. Luckily, whoever they were left as fast as they came— merely using your home as a shortcut.
Mohawk man takes no chances, however, so you're effectively pinned under him for a considerable amount of time until he deems it completely safe.
The small grin he gives you after is apologetic. "Sorry."
You irritably soothe the ache on your cheeks. "It's alright. Can't wait to get out of this pisshole, though."
He's acquiescent after, letting you quickly clean and dress his wound. "I have no more bandages so this'll have to do." The sound of fabric being torn echoes in the bathroom. "Get seen for this injury as soon as you're able, otherwise you'll have a nasty infection on your hands."
He huffs out a small laugh. "Dinnae ye mean arm?"
Charming. "Your friend left through the back door. That's all I know."
"Aye. Thank ye." He quickly hops off the counter, jogs to the back door, and with one last glance at you, he disappears.
-
"Gimme a sit-rep." Ghost says over comms.
"Outside...Gated alley."

Fuck it, HH swap AU
Their core personalities and backgrounds stay the same, it's mostly a role switch
Niffty <--> Husker
Angel Dust <--> Vaggie
Alastor <--> Charlie
(the typical for swap AUs, I know,,)
Everyone else stays the same
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These r edits bc I was just figuring out their designs for the AU, I'll draw them normally another time (Husker isn't here cuz I can't find a good png of the mf)
In this AU Alastor started the hotel mostly because he randomly thought up the idea once and thought, "that's fucking hilarious, I'm doing that" + a secondary sentimental reason he'd kill me for saying (he got genuinely fully invested in the cause eventually)
He advertised it on his radio show suddenly out of the blue after 7 and a half years of radio (lol) silence. Alastor still owns Husker's and Niffty's souls but they're also obviously friends (or atleast close to it)
Also he can read tarot bc why not :3
Charlie is closer to her dad in this AU and more sheltered, adopting a more aloof, smug, and dangerous persona so sinners take her seriously, she also has a very slight condescending outlook towards sinners but she's at her core still compassionate and still views them as her people and want to protect them to a certain extent, and she still thinks the Exterminations are unnecessary and cruel, but she doesn't feel like she can do much about it since according to Lucifer's stories and discouragement, she knows heaven likely wouldn't listen much if at all, but when she heard of Alastor's little project it resparked hope in her and she decided to invest in it, becoming co-owner and funder for the hotel.
Angel Dust/Anthony never made a deal with Valentino and actually stayed in his family's crime/mafia business for the 1st half of him being in Hell, but his dad is a POS and kicked him out for being gay so he started doing s3x work, and then he met Alastor after he brutalized his harassers one day, and Angel wanted to repay the favor somehow. Alastor seems interested in him so they struck a deal (not a soul deal, just a simple deal) which has Angel/Anthony is under Alastors protection in exchange for Angel/Anthony's loyalty and assistance when needed (which is a rare case so Angel still feels like he owes Alastor). They grow friendly with time, and Alastor offers to have him be patient zero for his redemption project, and he accepted.
Vaggie/Vi is still a fallen exterminstor and still met Charlie the same way she did in the show, but after that they went their separate ways and Vi finds herself making a deal with Velvette. Instead of being a pornstar like Angel in the show, she is an influencer and a rockstar/singer, she does enjoy making music and playing the guitar but Velvette tends to overwork her and make her do things she doesn't really like for views/popularity. Velvette is the nicest to Vi/Vaggie compared to with her other employees (which isn't a very highly set bar tbh) but she also frequently break her boundaries.
Vi met Charlie again during one of her concerts and they got close and started dating. (Also one sided Velvette x Vaggie is sort of slightly maybe canon in this AU bc toxic Yuri is fun (and it's only fully one sided after Charlie and Vaggie/Vi started dating))
She helps manage the hotel when needed, but is honestly only there cause Charlie is.
Not much about Niffty changes tbh (she's perfect the way she is, utterly unhinged 😍) she's just a bit more mellowed out and less hyper (she's still hyper just not all the time like in the show) and she's also a bartender and has surprisingly good taste for alcohol, and also frequently makes borderline poisonous drinks while experimenting, but when she gets it right it's really good. Doesn't stop the others of being terrified of her drinks though
Husker is a more smiley and charming in this AU, using a laid back attitude to put people at ease and more willing to open up to him if they need to (he used to use the information people share as blackmail when he needs to back when he was an Overlord, although he never actually needs to spread anything, just threats), and he's still very observant but he's also slightly more unhinged- He's a sort of butler/cleaner for the hotel
He still gets grumpy time to time, but mostly when he's drunk, which isn't as often anymore ever since Niffty was put in charge of the bar (understandably so)
He has a bit of an anger issue and also gets annoyed easily, and sometimes makes unhinged threats as a sort of joke (they stop being much of a joke once you genuinely piss him off)
He likes things clean and tidy because it helps him pretend to be put together
He and Alastor are a bit friendlier compared to in the show, hes still one of the few people that knows more about Alastor, though hes still bummed about the whole being owned by Alastor thing (Husker can also read tarot to a lesser extent bc Al taught him for funzies and Husker thought it's interesting)
His gambling addiction is also ever so slightly worse

It took 3 days to finally pull myself out of the pit of my childhood room. The sun bleeding through the crevices of the blinds screaming to be opened for some fresh air. coming back to Monaco felt like defeat but I knew that staying in London would kill me, plus the hushed whispers coming from downstairs reminded me that this was the best thing I could do, my brothers were dramatic enough without deciding to go on strike from racing until I finally agreed to come back.
Small snuffles under the door broke the serene atmosphere in the air, followed by tiny nails scratching to get in. finally pulling myself out from under the covers I cracked open my door enough to let a tiny four legged blonde into my cave, Leo weaved his way between my legs, herding me closer to the door. his persistence finally made me scoop him into my arms and make my way downstairs.
The already whispered conversation died as I took the last few steps into the living room. Four heads turned on a swivel to see me enter the living room. Maman sitting on the sofa with Arthur and Alex, Charles sitting at the piano in the corner of the room. "Bébé ? tu veux manger quelque chose ? nous étions sur le point de préparer le déjeuner." (baby? do you want to eat something? we were about to make some lunch.)
the idea of food made my stomach lurch, I skipped dinner last night in favour of crying into my sheets. Heartbreak had always seemed so stupid when I was young. How could girls spend all their energy loving someone who hurt them? I owe all those girls an apology. I could only nod as I set Leo down on the floor, he trotted over to Alex and with my arms free from the wriggling pup I sat down on the piano stool next to my brother. the guilt over cancelling my tour had been eating my alive for the last week, so many people would be so disappointed. I hadn't even entertained the idea of opening my phone since I landed, but Arthur had reassured me through the door that people were just worried about me, whether I was ok?
I had no idea if I was.

ALSTOR X READER oneshot ; annoying
Another day in the hazbin hotel, another day of boredom. And what better way to kill the everlasting devastation of being trapped in the underworld? Annoy Alastor.
And truth is, you really liked him.
It was routine at this point, really.
You’d imagine one of these days he would actually snap, and maybe chop you into a million bite sized pieces- - but he hasn’t. So far, anyway. It actually seemed like maybe he deep down enjoyed it? Like there was too much silence, and a little too much boredom, when your pestering wasn’t around.
“Y/N, if I have to ask, ONE more time… to please, stop—”
You’d been clicking the end of your pen for the last five minutes, taking little glances over your book to see how much you could get Alastor’s eye to twitch. Your record number was twice so far, but today you made it to four.
Your figure has been sitting beside him, curled up at the arm of the couch, while he sat on the other side, reading a book as well.
“What? What are you gonna do?” Your smirk increases, and you speak in a mocking tone.
Alastor’s hand grabs yours, gripping tightly around the fingers that held the pen. You pause, eyes widening down at it.
“I’ll make you stop.” His voice takes on a glitching radio effect, voice volume increasing to put on the very real bit of agitation you finally caused him. The redness in his eyes glow, and glitching in the realm of your reality seemed to fracture for a moment; His smile never left, though.
“Ha— oh please,” you scoff at him, rolling your eyes away. “You love it.”
His demon powers never scared you. Well, okay, maybe a little bit. But, you two were close. Known each other basically for the entire time of being down in hell together. You knew when his breaking point was when it came to other demons, but with you? He lasted a little bit longer.
Alastor hums to himself with a narrow eyed smirk, and releases his hand from yours, brushing himself off. “Why do you insist on causing trouble you don’t need to get into?” He asks.
You shrug, smiling over at him. “Guess I just never learn?”
“That could be one reason.” The radio demon rolls his eyes, smile prominent, turning back to the book in hand.
“Just admit it, Al.” You smirk, clicking the end of the pen once, looking at him. “You’d be so bored without me here.”
You click the pen again. And again. And again.
“I beg to differ,” his eyebrow lowers slightly, and you start to see the twitch in his eye coming back. “There’s plenty of entertainment around- -”
He pauses, looking over to your hand again, to where you hold the pen close to you, smirking and clicking it with the top of your thumb.
“—Do I need to dismember your wrist?” He tilts his head, eyeing you curiously.
You smile smugly right back at him, and shake your head innocently. “No? Why? Is something bothering you?”
That was it. He broke.
Alastor made a static noise, reaching forward, before completely snatching the pen out of your hand, and snapping it in two.
You deadpan him, making a crooked smile. Dammit.
He sighs with content, a bright smile beaming, and sits back down to his spot and holds up the book again. “Oh, whatdya know! It can be fun to have you around!”
Your lip turns to a pout. “You suck.”

HOME IS A FEELING
— former high school sweethearts reunite for a conversation about what went wrong 🌃
Tumblr media
——
"Don't turn around."
The vague statement thrown your way sends speculations trickling through your brain. Those three words usually never mean anything good. What is it? Or who is it? Whatever the mystery, it makes you anxious based on your friend's wary expression.
"Just tell me," you say timidly, becoming tense in the diner booth with a forkful of red velvet cake halfway to your mouth. "Tell me so I don't have the urge to actually turn around."
"Your ex," she mutters, never one to beat around the bush, much to your appreciation. "He just walked in. Don't kill me for saying this, but he looks really good."
You kick her foot under the table and sink further into the leather seat. "Why is he here? He's supposed to be in another country."
It's not an exaggeration or a falsity. Harry is supposed to be in not only another country but also another continent entirely—the Netherlands, to be exact.
Your friend risks another glance at the front door. "Well, he's back, and it's like he never left. Look at them..." She shakes her head slowly. "Hyping him up like he's a goddamn hero."
You assume she means the people you went to high school with. A hometown get-together with a small crowd of classmates from nearby colleges is being held at everyone's favorite local retro-style diner to celebrate the last week of summer break. It was going swell until Mr. Marine Biologist, who probably makes studying abroad his whole personality, waltzed through the door.
You cradle your left cheek with your hand to create a shield for your face in case he happens to look over. "I'm almost done with my cake, and then we can leave."
"Good luck," she sings. "The only booth open is the one right behind us."
Of course. Sighing, you silently pray that Harry won't come near you. You doubt he'll try to talk to you anyway since it's been complete radio silence on both ends for over two years. You're really hoping the breakup doesn't get brought up.
A sudden and forceful compulsion tells you to catch a quick glimpse to see how he looks, what he wears nowadays, and how he acts when you're not around. It's hard to resist.
"He's coming this way," alerts your friend through a spoonful of vanilla ice cream.
The universe must be listening, and you can't combat the urge anymore. Someone as beautiful as him begs to be looked at. You sure as hell didn't break up with him because he was unattractive.
Subtly peeking to your left, you see Harry in person for the first time in what seems like forever. It's only a short window of time where you can take in his presence as he walks closer to sit with a group of people in the booth behind you.
Black skinny jeans. Nothing has changed there.
Chelsea boots. Since when does he wear those?
A gray, tattered sweater, and a blue beanie. It's summer, for crying out loud.
Most surprising, however, is his hair, which now falls just a tad below his jaw. The same soft curls you would run your fingers through until he fell asleep.
You continue picking at your dessert, your mind running a mile a minute at the sight of him. The fact that he's behind you—thankfully facing the other way—but still inches away nonetheless is nerve-wracking. If you move your head back even the tiniest bit, it'll touch his own.
Did he notice you? Does he know his ex-girlfriend is in the same room and thinking about everything he could be thinking? Like how you never forgot about him as much as you tried to?
He's speaking, but you can't piece together what he's saying because you're too distracted by how his voice has deepened over the years. The rasp and British drawl are still there, and the warmth and comfort of them still make your heart race.
Your friend keeps stealing glances and looking at you with apprehensive eyes that cause prickles of anxiety on your skin. "What?" you whisper.
Before she can reply, you feel something nudge the back of your neck. You strain your peripheral vision and see Harry's elbow resting on the top of your booth.
"Oops, sorry," he says, twisting around in his seat.
You automatically turn and look at him. It's impossible not to, since he's like a human magnet for the eyes. His face is so close to yours now. Have his eyes gotten greener? Why does he have such beautiful lashes? Does he have more freckles on his nose since you saw him last?
Snap out of it!
"It's fine," you mumble, shaking your head and quickly turning around. Your heart feels like it's in your throat.
After finishing the rest of your dessert, you lean forward so he doesn't accidentally bump you again. Your friend raises her eyebrows at you and taps her foot against yours.
"So, your brother is coming to visit soon?" you ask, ignoring her questioning look and attempting to make any sort of conversation to distract from Harry.
"Yeah, tomorrow. My mom is going to weep happy tears."
"Aw. Remind me to visit her before the semester starts."
The leather seat suddenly squeaks behind you, and your breathing goes uneven for the third time tonight.
"You guys want anything to drink?" Harry asks his group of friends.
They all tell him their desired orders, and shortly after, you see him walk past your booth. He heads toward the counter with long strides and hands he doesn't know what to do with. His back is turned, so you use your chance to shamelessly observe him. He looks different but is familiar all the same. He has the same body, although he looks buff. Same friendly personality, although you've missed out on it lately. Same gentle presence, although it wasn't that way the night you separated.
"Didn't you once tell me that he always ordered ginger ale at restaurants?"
You look at your friend, processing her question. "Yes. He never mixed it with anything, either. Just drank it straight up like a freak."
"Gross," she says with a wince. "I think he just ordered one."
Once again, the counter is your focal point; this time, you notice the glass of creamy yellow liquid on it. You internally gag at how Harry could still drink that. Harry then walks back to his booth, skillfully carrying two glasses in each of his hands, like he worked as a waiter in his past life. You don't even try to hide the fact that you're staring.
Eventually, he catches your eye and abruptly stops in his tracks. You watch him blink a couple times before he continues to the table and sets down the drinks for everyone.
"I'll grab some napkins," he murmurs, leaving again.
You slide your empty plate toward the center of the table and watch him fumble while taking out napkins from the dispenser. Why is he so nervous all of a sudden?
When he walks by for the second time, he jerks his chin up to the ceiling. You furrow your eyebrows in response.
He nonchalantly repeats the gesture as he starts passing napkins around. You shake your head, nonverbally telling him that you have no clue what he's conveying.
His jaw clenches before he mouths, "Come with me."
"Absolutely not," you mouth back as you fiddle with the sugar packets.
Harry huffs and sits in his seat.
Everything used to be so easy with him.
——
Two Years Ago
It was graduation day, and you were inserting a silver hoop earring in the pierced hole of your earlobe when three thumps gently rattled your bedroom door.
"Knock knock."
In the reflection of your vanity mirror, you grinned giddily. "Come in! It's unlocked."
Harry opened the door with a pout on his lips. "You're supposed to say who's there."
"Wha—" you stammered confusedly, turning around in your chair. "I hate you."
He shuffled inside and immediately bellyflopped onto your bed. "Wow. I missed you too."
"Just kidding," you said, flashing him a winning smile. "You left your laptop charger here, by the way. I set it on the kitchen table."
"Thank you, baby," he mumbled into your pillow.
"Don't fall asleep."
"Mm, c'mere." He lazily patted the space next to him. "Let's cuddle before we have to sit far away from each other for the rest of the night."
"It'll only be for a couple of hours at most," you replied, putting in your other earring. "Don't be so dramatic."
After tidying your vanity area, you stood and slinked into bed with Harry. The lavender-colored sunset filtered through your sheer curtains and created a serene ambiance. Harry's body rolled over on top of yours, his weight providing the perfect amount of warmth and comfort. The scent of his almond oil shampoo reduced your nerves. You reached for your phone and set an alarm for fifteen minutes from now so he would have enough time to get ready, then pulled the blanket over both of your heads, not caring if the hair you spent precious time on became tousled. It would mostly be hidden under the immensely unflattering graduation cap anyway.
Harry's clean-shaven cheek rested on your chest, and he planted a chaste kiss on your collarbone. He had always been the affectionate type. Touch was his love language, and he never failed to fulfill it with you.
Every touch strengthened your love for him. Every touch left you longing for more. Every touch felt purposeful.
——
You swear he's doing it on purpose. You know he is.
Harry keeps leaning his head back until it faintly touches yours. Nuzzling it, if you will. That, or he'll clasp his hands behind his head and loosely twirl a strand of your hair.
This time, he pretends to yawn and stretch his arms before tickling behind your ear. He knows goddamn well it's the place where you're the most ticklish. You pretend to have an itch and bring your hands back to slap his burning touch away, but of course, he takes the opportunity to be a pest and capture your fingers.
You yank them away and clear your throat. "I need to go to the bathroom," you tell your friend before getting up and making a beeline straight to the back of the diner.
When you open the door, you sigh relievedly when you find all the stalls open and no one is lingering. You pace toward the farthest wall and rub your hands down your face. Two years without Harry, and not a single call or text—only the occasional picture you'd see of him when you caved and scrolled through his social media during particularly lonely nights. Yet tonight, he acts like you're best buds who can tease each other and initiate playful touches, like you didn't end on a terrible note that made both of your hearts shatter into smithereens. Maybe this is some bizarre dream you'll wake up from and laugh about later.
You blow out a sharp breath and wash your hands before splashing cold water onto your heated cheeks.
"Were my hands dirty or something?"
Your whole body flinches. Now, he's just plain annoying. How long has he been standing there?
"Why are you in here?" you ask monotonously.
Footsteps come closer. You keep your back turned.
He laughs softly and says, "How've you been?"
Such a master at avoiding questions. "That wasn't what I asked."
"That wasn't an answer," he replies smugly. You can practically hear the satisfied smile in his voice.
"I've been fantastic, Harry," you say, your words laced with petty sarcasm. "What about you?"
"You sound stressed." He's right next to you now. "Is it because of your job? I heard you're an assistant teacher at the middle school."
Your hands grip the edge of the marble sink. "Who told you that?"
"I knew you'd be here," he says, as if it were obvious. "I had to ask people what you've been up to since you clearly weren't going to tell me yourself."
He asked about you. No, that can't be right. Turning to face him, you let your guard down just a little. "I'm helping with the summer school program."
Harry smiles. If you analyze it enough, it almost looks like a proud one. "That's amazing. What grade do you want to teach in the future?"
A conversation with your ex-boyfriend about career aspirations is entirely too casual for your liking. Doesn't he have friends to catch up with? Some ginger ale to drink?
You shrug and truthfully say, "I haven't decided yet. It's a big decision."
He nods, crossing his arms. "You've got time."
Silence hangs except for the drip of the faucet.
"So... I assume you're still studying marine biology?" you ask, already knowing the answer.
He hums an affirmation. "I'm almost done with my bachelor's degree, and then I'll be on my way to becoming one with the ocean."
You almost let a laugh slip out. "Well, I'm sure it's beautiful in Europe. I can't imagine the view every day."
He nonchalantly plucks a stray strand of hair off your sleeve, making your blood rush. "It is, yeah. It gets a little lonely sometimes, but it's been nice to live somewhere so different from what I was used to."
"You don't have a roommate?"
"Nope, just me. I don't really like sharing my space."
Only if it was with you. He's told you that before. Not that it matters now.
"I know. I don't know why I even asked."
It's a bold statement but a tenuous breakthrough in the barrier of the inevitable and awkward breakup conversation you're dreading.
Harry inhales and takes a step closer. "Come up to the rooftop with me. I don't want our first conversation in two years to be in the women's restroom."
You give him an apologetic look and say, "I'm sorry, but I can't. I have to head home soon and get up early for work tomorrow."
He toys with the bottom of your shirt. "Please."
It's a soft whisper that echos in the empty space, a begging tone chipping away at the walls built around your heart, paired with pleading eyes so clear and tender. Harmless.
"Okay." You'll kick yourself later for giving in so easily. "Okay, fine. Let's go." You pull out your phone and send a quick text message to your friend about where you'll be. She'll understand the weight of the situation.
Harry walks out of the bathroom, with you following behind. He takes a sharp right toward the concealed metal stairs leading to the diner's roof. He leaves some room so the two of you can walk side by side, your clothes rustling against each other in the narrow space. The rusty door opens, and you step out onto the flat concrete.
Little squares of light shine from the city buildings far away. They cause a strange feeling to wash over you. It can only be described as a powerful wave of hometown nostalgia, even though you never left. You wonder if it's hitting Harry as well.
He stands by the edge and leans his forearms on the railing, glancing at you with an unreadable expression. Is it reminiscence? Yearning? Regret? All could be the reason for the melancholy shift in energy.
"What did we do wrong?"
——
Three Months After Graduation
The party turned sour out of the blue. Harry's friend hadn't just said what you think he said. It was loud, so you must have heard him wrong. Why didn't he tell you? Why did you have to find out from his drunk friend, who's not even close to him?
Harry definitely saw your face drop because he instantly pulled you into an unoccupied bedroom upstairs. You'd been arguing for the past half hour, neither one of you inebriated funny enough, but still throwing words that were more like weapons at each other—launching arrows at the heart, shooting daggers at the eyes, and slashing swords in the Achilles heel.
Your weak spot was him, and you were his.
You stood your ground as you spoke your closing statement with frustrated tears. "I'm never going to see you if you're abroad, so what's the difference if I just leave now and never see you again?"
"Will that make you happy?" He was being stubborn; you were, too. "Because obviously, I don't make you happy enough for this to continue. For us to at least try."
He did make you happy, but anger blindly leads people to say what they don't mean, especially in cases of love.
"Obviously not." Lies, lies, lies. "It's useless when we know it'll end badly."
Harry released a bitter laugh. "Fine. Have it your way."
"Fine," you repeated.
You should have fought for him, but what would have been the use if you had known it would only hurt you in the long run?
He roughly swung the door open and then turned around one last time. "You can come pick up your stuff at my house this weekend. I won't be home."
The door slammed shut, and reality sank in.
——
The open sign of the diner flickers below.
"We did a lot wrong," you declare defeatedly, standing beside him.
"True, but we were eighteen and didn't know anything about communication or how to balance adult shit."
The conversation is heading toward a place you don't want it to go. "I really don't want to talk about our breakup, Harry. It's in the past. We've moved on."
He shakes his head. "Why? There was no closure whatsoever. I think it'd be good to get some now that we're face-to-face."
In the distance, you watch birds flock on the wire of a telephone pole. "Why didn't you just ignore me tonight? We've been doing fine without each other."
He scoffs quietly and leans his body against the railing. "Really? I was homesick for months because of you. You felt like home to me; you know that. The feeling never disappeared, no matter how much I pushed it down."
You throw your arms out. "Then why didn't you call or text me? I would've replied, Harry. I'm not that cruel."
"I thought you hated me," he says. "I wouldn't have blamed you. I just couldn't stand having you hate me, so I thought it'd be easier not to talk to you."
It's the classic tale of a high school mindset. You think you're doing the right thing until it slaps you across the face with the hand of cluelessness. You wonder what would've happened if Harry had reached out. Maybe you could've figured it out.
"I didn't hate you," you admit. How could anyone hate him? "I mean, I might've thought that I hated you, but if anything, I still loved you for way too many months after."
Harry looks like he wants to say something, but you continue. "Like you said, we were young and didn't know how to balance a relationship and our lives outside of it. Two years can really mature a person, and we both needed to do that without each other."
He nods while stuffing his hands in his pockets. "Yeah."
The conversation stops at a dead end. There's nothing else to say since it's a mutual understanding of what went wrong.
The breeze picks up, and you shiver before asking, "How long are you here for?"
He clears his throat. "I'm staying with my mother, then I have a flight back to the Netherlands in a few days. I have to go back for an ecology camp."
"That's nice," you say. A couple of days. That knowledge causes an unwanted sinking feeling to take place in your stomach.
"Do you…" He raises his thumb to his mouth, nervously biting his fingernail. "Can we maybe talk more before I leave?"
It's an open opportunity, but what would it lead to? What would come of it? Would it be worth the pain?
"What's there to talk about? You're leaving soon, and then we'll never speak again."
You've taken logical truth more seriously over the years. You've learned that holding on to false hope is dangerous for the heart and mind.
"That won't happen," he replies with a pensive gaze. "We've grown and know how to communicate now. There's so much we've missed in each other's lives that we can talk about. I don't know where you live or the places you like to go anymore, who your friends are, or what new songs you like to listen to. It kills me."
A shaky breath escapes you. "It doesn't matter. We're not right for each other. Call me selfish, but I don't want a relationship where we barely see each other. I'm sure that's not what you want either."
"So, that's it?" he asks, staring at the sky. "Do you not want to give this another chance?"
You can't imagine a more complicated question to answer, but it seems you've known the answer for a while. Gently grabbing Harry's chin and tilting his face down, you say, "Right person, wrong time. It would never work with the distance, and you know that. Deep down, we both know, as much as it hurts to admit."
"What now? Are we back to being strangers?"
"Harry, I don't think we'll ever be strangers. I know too much about you."
You're trying to lighten the mood, but Harry's sad eyes aren't helping at all. Instead, you focus on the stars twinkling brightly across the black sky and the single car driving by on the otherwise empty street. Every second that ticks by, he seems to move closer to you.
"If this is the last time I see you," Harry says apprehensively, "can I hold you for a little while? Give me that, and I won't ask you for anything else."
It'd be foolish to say no, wouldn't it? You need to feel him just as much. He's too significant of a person to let go of without saying a proper goodbye.
"You can hold me."
And so he does it for the last time.
Harry closes the distance and embraces you like he always used to—his cheek resting on your head and his arms completely around you, squeezing the sides of your body. He's breathing you in, like he's scared of losing you. It's just you and him standing on a rooftop and holding on to any last bit you can get of each other.
You're tucked so far into his chest that the only thing you can hear is his heart pounding. He's warm and sentimental, and the nighttime chill makes you melt into him even more. He eases you—every laugh, every tear, every moment you share with him was brought about by the ease of being around him.
"You still feel the same." A pang ripples in your heart because of your own words, and a sob desperately tries to crawl up your throat.
Harry nuzzles his nose into your hair. "Yeah? You still smell the same."
You laugh, but it's choked with sadness. "What, like shitty teen store perfume?"
"No, you smell like home. Like when I used to go to your house for sleepovers, and you'd always light those vanilla candles."
Another pang, this time from his vulnerable confession. "I should go," you say, deterring the conversation from any more agony.
He doesn't argue. "Yeah, me too. I never really liked those people in there anyway."
You smile, stepping away from his arms. "I'll walk you to your car."
He nods, and the both of you retreat down the stairs, exiting the building through the back way to avoid any distractions. After reaching the front of the diner, you find his black Jeep sitting alone in a parking space. It's nice to know he still has it, considering it's a car with good memories, like Harry driving you to school every morning and picking up coffee. Or eating fast food outside the high school after a football game. Or nights of endless kissing and professions of love before he walked you to your doorstep.
Facing him under the moonlight tonight, it's time to officially move on.
"Bye. It was really nice to see you." A tear unexpectedly falls from your eye. Maybe it's due to the chilly temperature, but you know better.
Harry's face crumbles. Your composure shatters.
"Please don't cry," he pleads, biting his lip to stop it from wobbling. However, it's too late, and both of you give in to the misery and drama of it all.
"Now we're both crying."
He rubs his eyes and leans against his car door. "God, this fuckin' sucks."
"We'll be okay," you say weakly. "It's fine. We went two years without each other. You'll forget about me soon enough, and it'll be like this never happened."
You're only trying to convince yourself at this point.
"I never forgot about you. You were the first person I fell in love with. How do I move on from that?"
His choice of words isn't something you gloss over. Is he insinuating that he hasn't moved on yet? Should you tell him you haven't either?
Logical thinking, you mentally tell yourself. Don't say something that will make it harder to leave.
"I have to go home now." But isn't home standing right in front of you?
"Okay," Harry says. "I guess… Good luck with everything. I hope teaching goes well for you."
You kick away a pebble on the pavement. "Thanks. I hope you become one with the ocean."
He laughs breathily, his dimples popping out for the first time tonight. He then inhales and gazes somewhere far away as his smile dies. When he looks back at you, he nods once before getting in his car.
"Wait."
He freezes. "Yeah?"
Don't make it harder.
Leave.
Don't hurt yourself.
Yet the way he looks at you is enough to make you ignore those logical thoughts. You lean forward and kiss his cold cheek, and it's like his entire body deflates under your hesitant touch. "Thank you for making me happy during the time we had together," you say against his tear-stained skin. "I never got to tell you that."
Harry sniffles and nods, then kisses your cheek a little longer and softer.
A lasting pang. A lingering sting. A sharp twinge.
Why?
Because the words he whispers to you cause silent tears to fall down your face when he finally closes the door and drives away.
You still mean so much to me.
——
Opening the door to your bedroom, the silence echoes louder than usual. The small space is where memories of Harry can still be found. There's the blanket he used to lie on, the desk he would sit on to help you study, and the dresser you used to keep his shirts in to wear when you missed him. The most tragic thing is an empty photo book on the top shelf of your closet that was meant to be filled with future road trips that never got planned. Next to it are unused polaroids for dates that stopped happening.
Piled at the bottom are a few that actually got used. A picture of Harry when the both of you went to a homecoming afterparty, and you didn't want to drink alcohol, so Harry drank orange Hi-C cartons with you to make you feel better. A picture of Harry on a floating water bouncer at the lake by your uncle's cabin when you went on summer vacation together after junior year. Your favorite picture of him is when he's turned around in the seat of the school auditorium, smiling widely. It was back in high school when nothing could separate you from him.
The pictures remind you of a time when you were in love—not only with him but with life. They feel like home to you.
That feeling of home seems impossible to catch now. It's like chasing a butterfly that keeps escaping from the loose grasp of your hands because you don't want to hurt it.
Are you the hands, or are you the butterfly?
——
The journal on top of Harry's suitcase mocks him. He shouldn't open it, but logical thinking has never been his strong suit.
The first page has pressed and dried lavender taped to it from the first date he took you on. The next has your drawings in the margin from when you stole his journal while he studied. Yet most of the pages are filled with lovesick entries about you.
January 29th
Last night, I told her I was falling in love with her. She said no one had ever told her that before, and I couldn't believe it. How could someone not instantly fall in love the moment she walks into a room?
Then she told me that she loved me too. I swear, I almost cried with happiness. She's the one for me. I see us being together for the long haul.
I hope she sees the same thing.
June 6th
We graduated! We're finally done with high school!
When they called my name, my eyes went to hers first. She looked so proud of me. I wonder if I could convince her to rent an apartment with me instead of staying in different dorms.
College will be strange, but we'll get through it together. I have no doubt we'll adapt and find time for each other.
I always have time for her.
August 2nd
I think I'm going to tell her about the college I chose. She's not going to take it well. It's abroad, but it's the best school for marine biology.
She wants to stay close to home, but I want to get out and travel. There's nothing hard about talking through some of our differences, right? Long-distance relationships can work if you put in the effort. We can do it.
If this ends up biting me in the ass, you'll never hear from me again.
Harry stopped writing in his journal after the breakup. It's almost funny, he supposes. He jinxed it in the last entry. He thought of the worst-case scenario, and it came to fruition right before him only days later.
Blissful ignorance is what he'll call it. Two high school sweethearts who didn't know what would hit them. Foolishly in love and blinded by reality. But the thing is, it's not easy to just move on from it. Especially when he brought those damn vanilla candles from his dorm room to his mother's house so he could sleep better at night.
So he can be reminded of home.
It was never a place when he was with you. Home became a feeling that bloomed without warning. It took him by surprise when he found himself wanting to be around you all the time. Home was entirely, ultimately, and unconditionally you.
Harry closes his journal and brings it with him as he heads out the door to search for a drop of that feeling in the places you used to go.
The places he will write about until his hand aches as much as his heart.

I Hate You
Alastor x ex wife ! reader
Summary: We all know what Alastor did when he was alive and one time he cheated on you, well you meet your ex-husband in Hell.
Warning: mention of Al killing and cheating and language.
A/N- I know he's ace but shush, THIS WAS SO FUN TO WRITE
Tumblr media
You and he were married back on Earth. He would often leave in the middle of the night, citing work. You believed him. However, one night, you discovered that your daring husband had cheated on you with a girl from a jazz club. This was the same daring husband who had assured you on your wedding night that he would never cheat.
Now, here you were in hell, and you saw him. Your instincts urged you to walk the other way, and that's what you did. Alastor saw you and followed. You found yourself speed walking. His tall legs made it easier for him to catch up, and he grabbed your wrist, his large claw covering your delicate hand.
"Let me go," you said, fighting him slightly. But he didn't. The deer demon pulled you and turned you towards him. Your ex-husband still loomed over you as you looked up into his red eyes. He leaned down until your faces were close.
"You lied," you whispered. Alastor just looked at you. "You said on our wedding night that you would never cheat on me, and on top of that, you lied to me about where you went every night." He remained silent.
"Asshole," you said, hurt evident. You managed to turn away and escape from his grasp, walking away again.
"Wait..."
"Fuck you," you said, not even stopping to look at him. You had thought he was the man of your dreams. After all, you two were high school sweethearts, and this is how he treated you?
"Just hear me out," he said, still with his radio filter and a smile he didn't want right now. He wanted to frown, but he couldn't. "I married a serial killer." You stopped in your tracks and turned to face him. Those words stabbed him right in the chest; they stung.
"I can't change the past," he sighed. You shook your head. "And you cheated on me," your voice filled with venom and hurt.
"If I could go back, I would," he said. Did he regret all the things he did? You didn't believe him and kept walking. Alastor grabbed your arm again.
"Alastor, I swear to—" you began, but he cut you off, pulling you closer. You looked at him, and he leaned in closer until your faces were just inches apart.
"I hate you," you said, breaking the silence.
"I know," is all the deer demon said. Your eyes searched his, and you saw something, maybe nobody else could, but you could.
"Were you planning on hurting me when we were alive?" you inquired. He stayed silent, which stabbed you in the back. "Al?" you said.
"Yes, dear?"
"You were?"
He hesitated, but eventually nodded.
"You would hurt your dear wife?" you choked, stepping backward, but he only took another step toward you, causing you to crane your head back to look at him.
"I was going to," he said with a sigh.
"Why? What did I do?" Tears welled in your eyes. He knew he broke you.
"No," he tried to wipe your tears. "I was the problem," he said.
"I tried to help you."
"You did, and I love you for it, but I never deserved you," he said, trying to lift your chin. You looked into his red eyes, then at his lips. Alastor found himself leaning in closer, placing his claws firmly on your hips. You paused.
"Are you still killing people?" you asked.
The Radio Demon nodded. "For a good cause."
"How so?" you asked, genuinely confused.
"Rehabilitation."
"You're helping Charlie?"
Alastor nodded, and you found yourself backed up and pinned against the side of a building. He leaned in so your bodies were touching. You looked at his lips. Alastor leaned in and placed his lips on yours, and you kissed back.
He looked into your eyes. "Please, just one more moment with me."
"What do you mean, Al?"
"Just one more kiss, then I'll let you go," he said, his breath fanning against your face.
"No, I don't want you to let me go," you whispered.
"You're mine, aren't you?" he asked.
"Yes."
"Good." He pulled you closer, and you two kissed again.

With all my love, pt. 3
Part 3 is finally here and *gasp* lore?!
Do you know how hard it is to escape your top 5 pro-hero ex-boyfriend? His voice plays on my radio during my commute. His image is plastered across the news in the lobby this morning before lunch—he’s acting irrationally again. He’s always been too much of a hothead.
His recent heroic deeds have garnered both admiration and scrutiny. My departure seems to have affected him, causing some of his harsher traits to resurface. I never anticipated that he would notice, let alone react like this.
"I don't care if he's a jerk. Dynamite is one of the best heroes of this generation," I overhear one of the news anchors saying. The radio in the small restaurant makes it hard to miss.
"Dynamite is one bad decision away from killing someone," the woman says, clearly frustrated with her cohost. "I don't even know if it would be on accident."
"He has saved more people this year than Deku. How is that not a hero?" the cohost argues back.
"He's also cost this city thousands of man-hours repairing the damage his blasts created."
I set my tablet down, trying to push their argument out of my head. The familiar chime of bells rings, drawing my gaze to the doorway.
A redhead stands there, his eyes scanning the restaurant until they find mine. His face softens as he makes his way over, pulling out a chair and sitting across from me.
"You look good today," he says warmly. "Changed your hair?"
"No, but I did change my relationship status." I roll my eyes at his attempt at small talk. I know my ex-boyfriend's best friend didn’t just call me up to chat.
He chuckles, a sound out of place given the tension. “Look, I know things have been rough for you.”
“Rough? That’s putting it mildly.”
He leans forward, elbows on the table. “I want to help. He’s worried about you, you know.”
I sigh, glancing at the drawing in front of me. “He wasn’t worried when I was crying myself to sleep.”
“I get it,” he says softly. “But he’s struggling too. The hero life isn’t as glamorous as it seems. You know that better than anyone.” My heart skips a beat at the reminder of my early retirement. “The constant pressure, the expectations... it’s taking a toll on him.”
I look up, meeting his eyes. They hold sincerity, a genuine concern I hadn’t expected. “What do you want from me?” I whisper.
“Talk to him. Just once. Hear him out. You both deserve that closure.”
I lean back, the weight of his words settling over me.
“Fine,” I say after a long pause. “I’ll talk to him. But this doesn’t mean anything beyond that.”
He nods, a small smile playing on his lips. “That’s all I’m asking. Thank you.”
He settles back into his chair and picks up the menu. "Why don't we order something?"
I nod, grateful for the change in topic. "Sure. I hear their ramen is amazing."
We browse the menu, tension easing as we focus on the food. The waitress comes by, and we place our orders—spicy miso ramen for me, tonkotsu ramen for him.
As we wait, the restaurant buzzes with lunchtime chatter. Clinking utensils, humming conversations, and occasional laughter create a comforting atmosphere. It feels almost normal, a brief break from the chaos.
“So,” he says, breaking the silence, “how’s work? Still drawing those amazing designs?”
I smile, appreciating his interest. “Yeah, hectic, but I’m managing. Deadlines are killer, though.” He laughs as our waitress places two bowls in front of us.
“I can imagine. But your work is worth it. You’ve got talent, always have.”
“Thanks,” I say, feeling more at ease. “How about you? How’s hero life?”
“It’s... a lot,” he admits, mouth full of food. He swallows. “But it’s worth it, knowing we’re making a difference." I hum in agreement, tasting my food. The flavorful broth dances across my tongue, making me do an unconscious happy dance.
"We really do miss you though," Kiri says, his voice trailing off as he scratches his neck. I feel a pang of remembrance. I've never stopped missing being a hero. I hate not being able to work with my best friends.
"I don't get a retirement package as a hero," I reply, forcing a smile to mask my heartache. But it's clear my facade fails as regret fills Kiri's eyes. Apologies spill from his lips, but I don't listen. Instead, I reach out and gently place my hand on his for a brief moment.
"Eijiro, I promise you I've moved on. I don't blame anyone for what happened," I assure him, pushing another smile onto my face. "I got over that a long time ago."
I withdraw my hand and continue to eat, the conversation flowing more easily after a few moments. We reminisce about our days at UA, share laughs about our coworkers, and for a while, it feels like old times.
By the time we finish, I feel lighter, the past weeks’ weight lifting slightly. It’s not a solution, but it’s a start.
“Thanks for meeting me,” he says as we stand to leave. “and for agreeing to talk to him.”
I nod, a sense of anticipation blooming. “We’ll see how it goes.”
As we step out into the city’s noise, I unblock his number from my phone and watch in horror as hundreds of missed messages flood my phone screen.

Sometimes I need to remind myself that tumblr is a fringe social network, and is by far not the average. What it is though, is a good sampler of the more extreme, I would say, ideologically swayed. A bit.
The more comments and notes I read from the Free Palestine crowd, the more it gets obvious that these are incapable, useful idiots. Literally, spoonfed couchpotatos at best. Starbucks Boycoyters at worst.
It's like the 00's insecure attention seeking posers, with an amoral, ignorant twist to them.
And they are entirely, ABSOLUTELY useless people.
Some morally rotten such individual wrote me that "Israel deserves what's coming for them, you deserve to die" etc. And it really made me think. What's coming? WHO'S coming? You? You, an unemployed tumblrina? You and what army?
What are you gonna do? Try to kill us all? What's the WORST you can do that wasn't, hasn't been tried already?
Truth is, no one is coming.
You read about this pompous, self indulgent "Palestinian Activism Solidarity ". What the FUCK are you talking about? Where is it? What, SA under IRI at the ICJ?.... Watermelon emojis...? ...Slogans?
The most "affective" actions FreePalestine Movement "achieved" was a few shootings/stabbings/rammings here and there, a hostage situation in Turkey in the name of Palestine (the man was executed on the spot after some negotiations. Turkey, yeah). A few burnt synagogues around the world and a whole lot of terrorized Jews in the Diaspora. Not a single Palestinian benefited. Not in Gaza anyway. To sum it up, what exactly are you gonna do? Blow yourself up in a subway in the name of Palestine? How incredibly unoriginal and unhelpful. Although expected and unsurprisingly fitting to the roots of the movement, I'll give you all that.
No one is coming. A lot of pakapaka from Nassrallah and Co. and a radio silence from the Arab world.
Iran pulled the Houthies out of their boydem only for Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan to reluctantly push the button to down Houthie ammo flying towards Israel. Houthies "asked" of Saudi Arabia to "let them cross over to fight the Zionists", and not only this is a joke, a caravan of sandals-wearing, AK-47 totting, Houthie caravan crossing Saudia to do what exactly? Bite Israeli ankles in Eilat Port? Rather It's an insult, to show that "here see we tried", since Saudis are fighting the Houthies FOR YEARS, it was never an actual option to begin with.
Are you blind? No. One. Is. Coming.
After 75 years of trying to erase Israel from the map, the 7th of October unleashed what could only have happened after Israel had its last straw broken.
Congratulations, you've managed at dehumanizing Israelis to the point that you managed to rob us from one aspect of humanity, even if temporarily: our symphaty.
Not forever, but for a period. And when you did so, you WERE LUCKY, for US were here WITHIN MINUTES, being smart enough to talk Israel out from attacking on the freaking spot. Instead, Israel waited 3 damn weeks. For 3 weeks, Israel called for the evacuation of Gazans from the northern side of Gaza.
Symphaty has an expiration date. The 7th of October 2023 was that date. You backed Israel to a wall, and no slogan will suffice against a nation that KNOWS that its very existence was threatened in a very real, visceral, inhumane, and depraved way.
No one is coming. Not for us, not for the Gazans. The Arab world is waiting to see, when will they wake up with one Iranian proxy less on the map. The truth is, aside from the pakapaka all round the clock, Isrsel was left with "do what you do, we wait" kind of global attitude.
Arab nations don't care about Palestinians. They don't care for the Palestinian Cause. Never had. It was always for show, as a pawn. A distraction. And we know it, very well.
The Palestinians are, and always were, used. They were used to carry on this idea that Israel would disappear from the map. If not by force, then by proxy warfare and terrorism, with time. If not by proxies, then by mass protest and public opinion. But the thing is, reality is a material thing. You need TO DO a thing for it TO HAPPEN. And public opinion rarely holds. And for how it's loud, the Free Palestine Movement is nothing but that: Loud.
As for the undoing of Israel and Bney Israel, well. Many have tried.
And oh boy, did the Arab nations TRIED.
They PAYED for trying.
But that's in the past, largely. Now, the annihilation of Israel and the creation of a Palestine is just a cruel pipe dream, with human prisoners, and an international cheering squad. After all, you can't free something that never existed and couldn't form one coherent ideology that makes sense and strives towards a positive, creation-adjacent activity in 75 years of its yappery. It's just not there. If the ideology surrounds destruction, it can not create. It can only destroy.
You may shout your lungs out and make up all kinds of delusional narratives. In the end, they are just that: empty words to make the righteous self of the woke crowd feel better, to feel active. To be a part.
To be USED.
It says a lot about the sad reality of this mass of people. The yearning for purpose, this loneliness. The rootlessness. Loss of identity. Identities so fractured, so incohesive. Loss of trust in the institution. The shallow knowledge. The practically non-existent reading comprehension.
All are easily diverted to create this cult like behavior.
People cry their eyes out over something that not only they have zero way of affecting but oftentimes is inflated, twisted, and presented as something completely false, or fake or what have you, instead of looking around them and doing something about their own realities. Pouring their hearts out over an unreality, fruitless.
This is either willful ignorance or escapism. Can't even say which one is worse.
This mass is being used. It creates a pool of despair, mysery. Feelings of "not enough", of unachievment. Those masses are breeding grounds for terrorism activity recruitment.
One party, one goal.
Free Palestine is a magic combination of words. You would ask, what is it? And they would sell you, ah, it's this magical place over the rainbow far, far away, and you can be the savior of those people. What a beautiful fantasy. Except you can't save those who did all their best to commit a slow, painstaking suicide, over 75 years. It's unrealistic, whatever this so-called "movement" is yapping about. There are no outlines, no strategy. It's just empty, big, bombastic words, to rile up emotionally as many people as possible, who look for a meaning.
I keep remembering the movie The Wave (2008). It's amazing how word by word, scene by scene, the story is playing out right now with worrying accuracy.
I don't know where this will lead Europe, UK, US, Canada... Australia... you all should be on high alert internally. But one thing is pretty clear.
No one is coming. As for Israel... You did your worst already. You have left Israel with nothing to be afraid of.
BDS biggest achievement was the eventual unemployment of thousands of Palestinians from the West Bank. UN is a joke. Red Cross is a joke. UNRWA exposed, visibly and undeniably. Abraham Accords are proceeding, even if slower, yet still they do. HAMAS gets mopped the floor with. And Lebanon has to do the impossible: drag Hezbollah away from the Isrseli border. Otherwise, there won't be much of a Lebanon to speak about in a very short amount of time. And that's not even a threat. It's reality. As government officials in Lebanon plead with Hezbollah to halt, Israel is ready on the border for 80,000 Israelis are internally displaced within Isrsel itself because of the war with HAMAS, but mainly away from the northern border because of constant shelling by Hezbollah.
And it won't hold forever.
And no one is coming.
Because who will? You and what army?

can you expand on your purah thoughts
i've been waiting for someone to ask me about purah since botw came out. im obsessed with her. let's talk about it.
what we know about purah's life pre-calamity is limited, but we do know that she was a sheikah tech researcher in her 20s when the calamity hit. in her diary, she says this about the calamity:
Ganon had been dormant for 10,000 years. Perhaps his power had been building all that time. The slaughter that followed was arbitrary and merciless. The destruction complete. We lost everything... Hyrule Castle, Princess Zelda... Well, perhaps not everything was lost. A youth named Link was brought to me a hundred years ago, covered in wounds and on death's doorstep. Link... So young, yet so courageous. He was the youngest knight to have ever been appointed to the Imperial Guard at Hyrule Castle. He was also a gifted swordsman who was selected as captain of Princess Zelda's personal guard. I thought his skills would be enough to defeat Ganon in glorious fashion... Since ancient times, the royal family of Hyrule and us Sheikah researchers have had a strong bond. Their pain is our own. We took the swordsman and the Sheikah Slate Princess Zelda left behind to the Shrine of Resurrection. Although the Slumber of Restoration had not been fully tested, we decided to put the swordsman under to save his life. It was the best we could do...
What this tells us is that Purah was present and involved in the war effort pre-calamity, and she, like most other hyrulians, bought into the idea that Link was strong enough to defeat ganon. it was only after his defeat that she saw him for what he truly was: a child. "So young," she says. There's a clear undertone of regret in the way she talks about Link and the slumber of restoration. It wasn't fully tested, and she knew that it would likely cause him more pain in the long run, but it was the best she could do. It also implies that she believes Zelda is dead, or, at the very least, unreachable in her current state.
Purah was a researcher of ancient sheikah tech pre-calamity, and one who was very close to Zelda, meaning it's very likely she was heavily involved with the development of the guardians and divine beasts. When this tech was ultimately turned against hyrule and used to decimate their armies, Purah likely felt more grief than most. this was her tech, her brainchild, that was killing thousands of innocents. When link was brought to her, inches from death, covered in wounds inflicted by guardians, she would have known exactly what it was that did him in. For all intents and purposes, she killed him. it was her technology that led to this. Her decision to put him in the untested and potentially dangerous shrine of resurrection is an act of desperation -- not just an attempt to save hyrule from the calamity, but an attempt to prove to HERSELF that her tech is capable of more than senseless violence. that she's capable of saving this boy who she has caused such suffering for.
For 100 years, she has no idea if her gamble has worked. Presumably, it's only after nearly a century of radio silence from Link that she begins working on the anti-aging rune. in her diary, she says:
This technology will enable us to make retired warriors young again, thereby strengthening the Hyrulean army. When Calamity Ganon inevitably returns, we'll be ready. Our offense will be solid, and our defense impenetrable. The need for this tech pains me, but I truly hope to use it to attain everlasting peace for all.
it's interesting, here, the way she equates youth with strength. I think it's likely that, subconsciously or not, she is remembering Link and the other young champions. She believes that they COULD have won the war as they were, if only HER tech hadn't gone haywire. In her mind, the young soldiers and champions she saw weren't doomed until SHE doomed them. With this rune, she is once again clinging to the hope that her inventions will be able to do some good in the war, to somehow make up for the suffering she caused. I think this is also a big part of the reason why she tests it on herself rather than a third party -- she would rather put herself in imminent danger than let someone else suffer the consequences of her actions ever again.
The self-inflicted de-aging is also especially interesting. The way her BOTW diary is written suggests that the anti-aging rune affected not just her body, but her mind, too. there are noticeable changes in the way she writes as her body ages in reverse -- the diary becomes more juvenile and carefree the younger she gets. This is an especially important piece, the fact that she was mentally affected by the de-aging. Before the de-aging process, based on her diary, purah comes off as a very wise, very careful, very grief-stricken woman. Every decision she makes is rationalized and carefully tested in such a way that no one (except her) gets hurt. She looks back on impulsive decisions she made in her youth with melancholy regret -- "I thought his skills would be enough." "it was the best we could do." but she moves forward regardless, attempting at every turn to correct her mistakes in any way she can. "The need for this tech pains me, but I truly hope to use it to attain everlasting peace for all."
And her de-aging rune works. but when she tests it on herself, she accidentally takes herself back to the mindset of a six-year-old child. She remembers what she's doing and why she's doing it, but the wisdom and impulse control and regret that came to her with age and experience have all left her now. She has the boundless optimism of a little girl -- the same boundless optimism that likely led her to utilize the guardians and divine beasts pre-calamity, and with none of the fear of consequence she learned in those hundred years past. When link comes back, she's playful and carefree with him despite her knowledge of who he is and what his return means. She's dismissive of the choice she made to put him in the shrine of resurrection -- when link tells her he doesn't remember her, she says:
"Really?! Well! I'm so shocked I don't know if I'll ever be able to recover from this! Even though, 100 years ago, I took you to the Shrine of Resurrection after Calamity Ganon fatally wounded you... Even though I was the one who put you safely into the Slumber of Restoration... Hmm... As expected. After 100 years in the Slumber of Restoration, subject...has...lost...all...memories. Noted! Oh, sooooorry... I have a bad habit of taking notes rather abruptly like that. It's a charming quirk, isn't it?"
and in her diary:
I can't believe it... Our hero, Linky, has awoken from his 100-year slumber! As expected, he has lost his memory. The Slumber of Restoration... I really should have done a test run on that thing first. Well, live and learn. In any case, he got the ancient furnace working, so now I can start my research once again. Finally!! ☆ Only a truly gifted and heroic swordsman like him could have achieved all that. ♪ Speaking of...this seems like a good opportunity to get him to do some other chores for me too, heh. ☆
All the regret and careful wisdom she spoke with when she was still her accurate age has been replaced with childlike curiosity and mischief. She has, essentially, zapped the war right out of herself. In conversation, she consistently frames this as a mistake, an experiment gone wrong, but I almost wonder if that's truly the case. In totk, she re-ages herself only up into her 20s, the age she was just before the calamity hit, and her diaries reveal that this was a deliberate decision. She decided to put herself back into the headspace of a researcher unburdened by past failures, rather than putting herself back to a true "normal," i.e. her accurate age. I wonder if her regret over what happened in the calamity became too much to bear; if, after a hundred years of not knowing if her final desperate gamble had paid off or if she'd just killed a 17-year-old, she decided to take matters into her own hands and get rid of the guilt. Being the first test subject for the anti-aging rune, she had no idea what the effect on her body would be -- it was an act of self-sacrifice just as much as it was an experiment. Whether the consequences were intentional or not, whether she expected to die, or lose her memory, or nothing to happen at all, taking her life into her own hands with an untested piece of ancient technology was likely her attempt to atone for her sins -- to sacrifice herself to tech she didn't fully understand in the way she'd unwittingly sacrificed so many lives to the guardians during the calamity. the result of the experiment is a little girl with the mind of a seasoned veteran researcher but none of the inhibitions, and while that luckily ended up working out for link, it could just have easily have led him down the path of destruction again.
Ultimately, purah is a selfish character. she chose to put link in the shrine of resurrection in order to prove herself and her tech, ignoring the potential danger to his life. She chose to de-age herself and get rid of her guilt, ignoring the ramifications her experiment could have had on Link and his journey when he woke up. but for all her selfishness, she still cares very deeply for those around her; for her friends, for her family, for the soldiers and princess she lost in the war. She cares so much that she's incapable of dealing with her own guilt over their fates. She is a researcher, and all she knows how to do is make things, so she makes things that she desperately hopes might undo the harm she's caused.

What did you do?“ There’s something in his voice you've never heard before.
We need to...”
His whole body suddenly sizes up. The strong and undefeatable supersoldier falls to his knees.
You finally set things into motion and ran out of the room.
He smirks, and, you swear, it looks like the fucker is having a blast chasing you around.
“Sergeant,” you giggle. “I’m flattered really, but...uh…this is not the time to think about your knot.” You point at him. “I don’t want you to do something you’ll regret.”
His eyes darkened at your words. “Stop running away from me. Give up. This is your fault for breaking the vial. You released the sex pollen.”
“Sex pollen?” You visibly relax and release a shuddery breath as the realization hits you. Bucky watches you put your hands on your hips. You glare at him and snort. “I don’t think so. I knew something was fishy about this mission. Sharon tried to warn me, but I didn’t listen. Tricking the rookie, a new low for you, Sergeant.”
Tony and Steve step into the warehouse, clapping their hands.
“Congratulations, Agent Y/L/N; you’re the first to see through Bucky’s act.”
“You fucker,” you storm toward Bucky to push against his shoulders. “You scared the shit out of me! I thought you were about to mate me.”
“Our job here is done, don’t you think?” Tony says. He laughs when you give him the stinky eye. “We should let Buckethead handle things from here. It was his idea to play crazy alpha.”
Steve and Tony are gone before you can give them a piece of your mind too. You glare at Bucky, waiting for an explanation.
“Oh, doll,” Bucky smirks darkly. “If I mate you, it won’t be at a warehouse with the team around. I’ll chase you until you cannot run away any longer, and then I’ll lay claim on your body and sink more than my teeth into your body.”
“Uh, are you sure there wasn’t any sex pollen in there?” You mirror his smirk and dip your head. “Because… I can do this all day long.”
With that, you start to run, hoping Bucky will fulfill his promise and chase you again.
His heavy footsteps fill your ears seconds later, and you know Bucky intends to keep his promise...

Behave (Pedro Pascal x Fem Reader)
Hi friends! Sorry about the lack of posting last week, I was on vacay in Disney, it was a really great break from reality hehe. But I’m back now and will be posting weekly. Hope you like this one. <3
18+ ONLY. Please don’t interact with my posts if you are under 18.
Includes: unprotected sex, choking, demanding, teasing, solo play, public play.
Summary: This doesn’t really have a story line, mostly just smut. Reader wants to see if Pedro will behave in public as she teases him all night. ;)
Pedro couldn’t keep his hands off of you all day. You were both getting ready for an event you got invited to tonight. Going to events with coworkers of Pedro’s was always fun, but tonight you both just wanted to be in bed together, fucking each other senseless.
“Mama, you can’t wear that dress tonight,” Pedro says to you, looking you up and down hungrily.
You furrow your brows together, “But, this is the dress I’ve had picked out all week.”
Pedro walks up behind you and looks at you through the mirror you’re standing in front of. He wraps his lips around your earlobe giving it a soft bite and sending shiver down your body. “If you wear that, I don’t know if I’ll be able to behave myself.”
Your cheeks became flush and your pussy was aching from his words and his touch. You bit your lip, “Well, you’re just going to have to behave aren’t you? Cause I’m not changing,” you walk away from him and grab your shoes. As you bend over to put on your shoes, Pedro looks over to see you are not wearing any underwear.
You feel his finger run up your slit and let out a breath, gripping onto the bed post. “You’re killing me baby,” Pedro says to you, still toying with your pussy. “I want to taste you now.”
You turn around to face him and your met with his fingers in your mouth. You swirl and wrap your tongue around them, slowly bobbing your head up and down. You know what this does to Pedro and you were in the mood to be a tease all night, testing to see if he really will behave himself. Your eyes met his and he was watching your every move, fixating on your mouth around his fingers.
You let his fingers come out of your mouth with a pop, “You’re just going to have to wait, we need to go. Now.”
You grabbed his hand as he dragged his feet behind you and you both made it out the door into the car. The company that was hosting the event tonight had arranged a driver to pick you both up so you climbed your way into the back seat of the SUV. You both exchanged small talk with the driver and silence fell upon the vehicle, the sound of the radio softly filtering through to the back seat where you and Pedro sat.
The middle seat was empty between you and Pedro, you turned to face him, your back to the window. You brought your legs up resting them on the middle seat, exposing your pussy to him. You watched him shift uncomfortably, as you spread your legs a bit wider. Bringing your hand down to your pussy, you starting rubbing circles on your clit, and dipping them into your dripping sex. You could hear the wetness of your pussy as you continued to play with it, teasing Pedro to the point where you could tell he was about to burst through his pants.
He brought his hand up to your leg, rubbing your calf and nudging your leg open wider so he could get a better look. You quickly closed your legs, making sure he knows you can’t touch him right now. The car came to a stop as you realized you had arrived at the plaza.
You made your way into the event room, your arm looped around Pedro’s. He took a quick pit stop in the bathroom to readjust himself. You both once again made small talk with other guests at the event, Pedro’s hand resting on your lower back and lowering to caress your ass every now and then. Once you two had found your table you took a seat.
You placed your hand on Pedro’s thigh, eventually creeping your way up to his cock. It’s still semi-hard from your performance in the car and you smiled to yourself. You started to palm him through his pants, feeling his cock grow harder. Pedro let out a sigh and shifted in his seat.
He leaned over to whisper in your ear, “Don’t make me take you home and punish you,” he said with a clenched jaw. Just what you wanted.
You continued to tease him throughout the night and once you both had finally made it home, you closed the door and Pedro pinned you against it. His face inches from yours, as he wrapped his hand around your throat, placing his thumb against your lips.
“Did teasing me all night make you wet? Hmm?” he asked you as he slid his fingers into you. “You think it’s fun for me to be hard all night while you sit there with that pretty smile on your face as you rub my cock and play with your pussy?” he pumped his fingers in and out of you, making you moan and whimper as he curled them toward your g spot. You bit your lip as he fingered your pussy, hearing how wet you were for him made you even more aroused.
You wrapped your leg around him, but he moved it away. “No, now it’s my turn,” he said nipping at your jaw. He traveled open mouthed kiss all down your body, starting from your neck, to your collarbones, to your chest. He pulled down the top of your dress, exposing your tits and started sucking and flicking his tongue on your nipples. Placing soft kisses on them, making you shiver at his soft touch.
He eventually pulled your dress down to your ankles as he worked his way down your body, softly touching every inch of your body with his mouth. He lead you to the bedroom and laid you down on your back. He took off your shoes, kissing the tops of your feet all the way down your leg. He stopped at your inner thigh, teasing you by hovering his mouth over the sensitive skin, licking and sucking on your inner thigh.
Your hips squirmed, so desperate for friction on your pussy. “Mmm, not yet princess,” he said to you. He rose up and took of his shirt, unbuckled his pants and dropped them and his boxers to the floor. His cock was already hard and dripping with precum. You bit your lip, craving his cock inside of you.
“Please Pedro, I’m sorry,” you whimpered. He ran the tip of his cock onto your folds as you sharply inhaled at the friction you wanted so bad.
“Touch yourself,” Pedro demanded. You brought your fingers down to your clit, rubbing circles on it, bucking your hips towards his cock as he continued to tease you with it. “Good girl, you’re behaving now.”
He thrusted his cock into you completely, filling out your walls perfectly and making you cry out. He pulled out completely before diving back in, his cock stretching you out. The pleasure washed over you and he continued to thrust into your pussy. He bent down and connected his lips to yours, you both sloppily kissing each other, tongues squirming around each other, and your moans muffled into his mouth.
“Turn around baby,” he said breathlessly as you turned around for him, pushing your hips up into the air. Pedro spanked you harshly, the sting subsided quickly as he slapped you again. He entered his cock into you, he felt even bigger from behind. He wildly thrust into you, the sound of skin on skin filling your ears. His hands dug into your hips as he guided your on his cock.
You felt that familiar feeling in your pussy as his balls slapped against your clit.
“Baby, I’m gonna come,” you said to him.
“Come on my dick baby.”
He thrust into you harder and you felt your walls contract around his cock. Pushing your hips up even more to feel him deeper inside of you.
“Yes, just like that baby,” he said, still thrusting into you. He pulled out his cock and turned you around, you took his tip into your mouth, he used his hand to pump his shaft and you felt his load cover your tongue as you swallowed.
You got up onto your knees, facing Pedro as he kissed you all over making you fall back on the bed.

Merc With A Mouth Meets Sexy Men
Tf 141 x Deadpool!Male reader
Summary: Watch as the the Task Force captures yours truly and gets me the join them. Damn that Captain has some rizz in him.
Disclaimer- There will be dialogue from the movies and comics
Tumblr media
Females She/Her and She/They DNI
M/n was seated on the highway railing while doing some art. He kicked his legs back and forth, he looked like a child.
"Hey I don't look like a child!" The male said while turning his attention the
"Oh.. .Oh well hello! I know right, who’s balls did I have to fondle to be here?” M/n said as he chuckled.
"Can’t say it, but.....it does rhyme with polverine.” I said as I look back over at the traffic.
“I do at the moment have places to be, a face to fix, and oooooh!” I said as I looked at the oncoming vehicle. “Bad guys to kill!” The man in red in black said as he stood.
“Maximum effort!” The masked male said as he jumped off the railing and into the sun roof of the car. Off the bat one guy tried to shoot him but I headbutted him. I grabbed his face and slammed it into the window behind him. My boot collided with the guy in the fronts face.
“Cock shot!” I said as I hit another guy in the balls. I threw one of the guys out of the trunk and I heard him screaming, funny. I leaned to the front and I pulled out a piece of paper, as he turned to face me as I said.
“Have you seen this man.” The photo contained a beautiful drawing by yours truly. The guy grabbed my head before slamming it into the radio.
“Ow...ow....ow”
“Ok time to cause some trouble.” I muttered to myself as I grabbed the guys wrist
(Pov switch)
“A little bit further.” Price instructed as the team made their way down the highway. The ride had been going smoothly, but the traffic build up only made the eldest a bit frustrated.
"What the hell..." Gaz said as he looked up at a car go up in the air, a motorcyclists being given a wedgie. It felt like time slowed as the others looked with wide eyes. The cars ahead of them swerved in order to not be part of the accident. Gaz did the same thing for the same reason and Ghost grunted. The four of them got out the car and watched as the men in black who were still standing pointed their guns at a car.
"What the hell is goin on here?" Soap asked as someone popped their head out of the car.
"Hey!" The voice said as the man said as he immediately had gunshots thrown at him.
"Wait-hold up, you may be wondering why the red suit. Well thats so bad guys don't see me bleed." The man explained as Gaz couldn't help but chuckle at the comment.
"That guys got the right idea, he wore the brown pants!" The man pointed at the man in question which led to more gunfire.
"Ok-fine! I only have 12 bullets so your gonna have to share!." Price grabbed his gun in case things got worse.
"Hold on didn't Laswell say that there was a guy that we had to look for." Gaz asked as Price ducked under a car due to the bullets being sent towards them. Price pulled out the small paper that Laswell had given them which had a short description on the guy they've been looking for.
"M/n L/n...ex Special Forces and dishonorable discharge." Price read aloud as the others gave each other a look. Soap looked at the paper that had a small picture of what the man looked like, well it wasn't a picture of his face but it was what he wore. The same man that was currently wreaking havoc was the guy that they had been sent to look for....Again
“We’re seriously being sent after this this prick again.” Soap muttered to himself, disappointed that they were going after the same guy.
The bridge was silent at this point as the mans voice boomed threw the silence.
"Oh Francis!~" The man said happily as he bumped the car door with his hip as he skipped over to the man who had a katana lodged into his shoulder. The male flicked the grip on the blade and watched it wiggle.
"Now i'm about to show you what did to music in the late 90’s” I reeled my arm back but my hand touched something hard. I touched around it before realizing.
“Dad?” I asked only for whover this giant was to lift me up and throw me over his shoulder.
“Well this isn’t the family reunion I hoped for.” I said teasingly as I eyed the two buns that were in my face. My intrusive thoughts are telling me to just.
“Hehe. Nice ass you got there buddy, seems like somebody’s been doing their squats.” I said as the man grunted before he begsn walking.
“H-hey! What are you doing I need answers from him.” I said while pointing at the man who fucked up my face.
“Shut up your annoying.” The big guy told me with a....British accent. Thats hot. Damnit Francis gonna get away now i’ll have to get another plan.
Timeskip
Thud

“Can you stop!” Price yelled, getting tired of the mercs constant headbanging on the table. The man in red and black squinted at the older man before sighing dramatically.
“Come on sugar you’re boring me here. Can’t we do something fun.” I asked as the man huffed at my comment.
“Hey, you and your guys are the ones who chose to take me... again....you can’t get mad at me.” I said defensive as the man sighed. Price looked at me with a deadpanned expression.
“M/n....we’ve come up with a proposal. Join the Task Force, it would be good for you.” Price said to me as I sighed out of boredom. Can this dilf stop with this same dialogue. At this rate his voice is gonna break me!
“How many times are you gonna tell me this! Seriously just give up already.” I complained as Price leaned in and stared at me. Is he trying to make me cum from staring into my soul...kinky.
“Listen, I believe you this job is fit for you because, well.....your you.” Well ain’t that nice of him to say.
“Ok.... I still don’t believe i’m "Task Force" material but...what am I getting out of this.” I asked while putting on my ‘thinking face’. The other man sighed while running a hand through his hair.
“We’ll help you find a cure for your face and we’ll give you a high rank.” Price said thinking that would make me agree.
“And....?”
“We’ll all take you on a date-”
“Deal!”

S'mores - Eddie Munson x Reader
Summary: Eddie takes you camping
Word Count: 3.6k
TW: bad driving, maybe a bit of angst
A/N: This might have something to do with that box of money from my last fic (kudos to those who guessed correctly), also writing this had me giggling and kicking my feet so good luck if you thought the last one was fluffy
Tumblr media
Silver-clad fingers tap against the steering wheel, more in tune with the van’s blinker than the Ace of Spades cassette blaring through the speakers. Eddie glances over his shoulder before veering into the next lane, throwing up an apology wave to the sedan he just cut off. You peek up from the map, sights darting to your side mirror, then to your boyfriend. He’s inches from scratching the sticker-loaded bumper ahead of you, gassing and breaking repeatedly.
You’re well aware that Eddie’s never been a good driver. Frequently snagging curbs and pushing speed limits, once having picked a note from the windshield about his poor parking job. It’s a miracle that he’s only been in a couple of fender benders over the years. You once nabbed his driver’s license, swatting away his hands so you could see the grainy photo of teenage Eddie. But every now and then when his foot slams against the pedal and you lurch forward in your seat only to be caught by the belt, you wonder whether it was a fake. Today, somehow, he’s in even more of a rush than usual.
The tape ends, leaving you in silence apart from a distant honk and the familiar chug of the air conditioning. “You know the campsite isn’t going anywhere right?”
He hums dismissively, hands gripping ten and two as his gaze darts between the road and his rearview.
You throw a palm over his thigh, squeezing. “Eddie.”
He’s locked in, swerving in failed attempts to get back over. “One second, sweetheart,” he manages when you retract your hand. There’s a risky opening and he takes it, the car behind instantly laying on the horn. Your eye twitches.
He rolls to a stop, with nowhere to go between the bumper-to-bumper traffic as far ahead as you can see and highway patrol parked in the median. “Seems everyone and their mother had the same idea, huh?” He turns to you with a dopey half-smile.
“What’s the rush?”
He shrugs, picking at the rip in his jeans, “Just wanna get set up before dark.”
“We’ve got flashlights.”
“No– well, yeah. It’s not that. I just don’t wanna have to worry about it later.”
You tilt your head, “No biggie if we set up late.”
He nods, knowing you’re right.
When you’d got home from work Eddie didn’t give you a chance to kiss him hello before he urged you into the bedroom to pack for a surprise weekend camping trip. Rented camping gear and a bag of gas station snacks were thrown into the back of the van and within the hour, you were on the road. As he pulled onto the interstate he’d abruptly toggled off the radio as the host discussed details of the pending meteor shower, the part of the trip he intended to keep secret. You pretended not to hear when he asked, despite having read about it in the paper the afternoon before.
The sun sinks out of sight as you reach the exit ramp. A light pitter-patter against the windshield has you preemptively cranking up your window. Your feet cross each other over the dash as you trace the approaching circle on your map with your finger.
“You said Bronson?” Eddie asks.
“Mhmm. Left on Bronson Road.”
“Ya sure? Cause it’s definitely blocked off.”
You whip your head up at the construction signs and equipment lining the street, or lack of street rather.
“Damn it.” You rub the bridge between your nose.
“I could just try to drive through it? I mean those big trucks can–”
“Eddie,” you raise an eyebrow.
“What!” He slaps the dashboard, “This girl's gotten us through a lot of adventures, right? One more won’t kill her.” He’s dead serious; Zero problem with driving past a sign that says ‘Closed’ and ‘Do Not Enter’.
“I’ll find another route, keep driving.”
“Come on,” he groans, sagging into his seat.
“Do you want to pop a tire and be out here all night waiting for help?”
He scoffs like you’ve insulted him, “I know how to change a tire.”
“Do you have a spare?”
His mouth opens in rebuttal and quickly shuts.
“Drive,” you roll your eyes, hiding your smirk behind the map.
You try another road that connects, or so you thought until you pull up to a dead-end sign. It’s pouring now and pitch black out, road signs are hard to see, street lights are sparse, and you’re both cranky from being trapped in a car with each other. It’s your fourth attempt at rerouting when Eddie declares you are officially lost.
He holds his hands up in defense, “Look I don’t wanna say it but–”
You send him a glare before he can finish. “We’re not lost.”
“Look, it’s okay if–”
“But we aren’t. Look, right here,” you flick a pen against the paper. “I’m telling you this is the one.”
He falters at your serious stare, biting a nail, and sighs, “Okay. Fifth times the charm, right?”
“That’s what they say,” you smile.
To both of your surprise, the fifth time is the charm and you’re able to get back on track with your navigation skills. You’re on a long stretch of dirt road, miles since the last light or building or car for that matter. Still, you swear you know where you are and Eddie believes you. He drives shockingly slow, bobbing his leg and squinting at the windshield. The wipers squeal against the glass, working overtime.
You push your palm against his knee. He continues to drum against the floor mat.
He feels your gaze and anticipatorily answers, “Have to piss.”
“You did on the side of the road like half an hour ago, dude.”
“Think it’s the rain. Rainiest fucking day in Indiana history. Thought it would’ve stopped by now.” His voice trails off in this dejected sort of way that you rarely hear from Eddie.
You’re lips form a tight line and you bring your fingers up to his nape to scratch under a thick mop of curls. “It’ll let up bub.”
He nods, eyes trained ahead.
You literally scream when the headlights glare against a campsite sign. Eddie smiles so hard you’d bet his cheeks hurt. An unimpressed teenager mans the check-in booth which you pull up to. She slides the window open to abruptly tell you they closed ten minutes ago, not allowing you to reply before it slams shut. Eddie raps on the glass, pointing to a crisp twenty-dollar bill which she accepts, offering a parking pass and spot number in return.
The van is parked and you jump out, delighted that the rain has let up some. It’s sprinkling and clouds block any hint of stars, but you couldn’t care less. Eddie grabs the tent first, recruiting you to help stomp the stakes into the ground. He fumbles with the flaps, scratching his neck trying to understand where the door is supposed to be when the rain picks up again. You scramble to finish setting up, throwing bags, food, a radio, and whatever else easily accessible into the tent. It isn’t until you’re both inside, soaked to the bone, that you realize how cramped it is.
“This is definitely not a two-person tent,” Eddie chuckles, hunched over like a wilting flower, knees digging into yours. His curls are slick and shiny in the lantern glow.
You flick a mosquito off his arm and grin, “It’s cozy for sure.”
He flops on the twin-sized inflatable mattress you’d previously used as an umbrella. You wriggle up beside him, clothes drenched and clinging to every curve.
“I mean think about it, this size would go for, what, a grand in New York? They’d call it an urban studio apartment with bright ceilings and textured floors,” you say magically.
His laugh bleeds into a dramatic groan as he slings an arm over his face. You leave a wake of kisses from his elbow over to his wrist until he’s peeling it away to hold you. Your cheeks are warm against his palms as he says, “I’m sorry we didn’t get to see the meteor shower.”
You lift an eyebrow, “What meteor shower?”
He covers your face, snorting, “Shut up, you knew. You aren’t a good liar.”
You crack a smile, peeling his fingers away one by one until you can see him again.
“But really,” he says, seriously. “We are soaked and cold and we didn’t even get to make s'mores!”
You drop your head to his chest, “You’re right. I don’t think I’ll survive without s'mores.”
His hand finds your crown, his lips too. “I’m serious!”
“So am I,” you mumble into his tee.
You are content to lay there in each other’s warmth for a while despite the chills worming up your spine but Eddie breaks the stillness, “Come on. Get up. We need to change.”
You lift your head, “Wait!” You poke at his chest, “I need to tell you something.”
He hums, brown eyes heavy as they search yours.
“I love you,” you say earnestly.
“Sap!” He pushes you off, crawling over to his JanSport to fish for dry clothes. He chucks you a pair and you waste no time stripping off the sticky fabric. Before long, the lantern is off and you're wrapped in the single dry blanket, shuffling back into him for more warmth. He pecks your shoulder and mutters, “I love you too,” before you drift off.
You aren’t sure what time it is when you wake but Eddie is breathing hot air onto your neck, curls itching you in a way that makes you pull away. His arm slinks under the covers as you sit up. No light leaks through the tent so it must not be time to get up, you decide. You feel far from sleep, however. It’s cold and somehow sticky. The pant leg pinched up your calf gets tugged down, only to realize the fabric is damp.
Eddie must feel you shuffling because he starts mumbling and groping around your pillow. His hand claws at your sleeve in an attempt to suck you back in. He whines sleepily when you don’t budge.
“Eddie,” you whisper, sliding a hand up the tent’s coarse walls.
“What,” his voice catches, soft against his pillow and hoarse with sleep.
“I think,” you swipe at the floor until your fingertips graze a freezing puddle. “There’s a hole in the tent or something.” You blink rapidly trying to see the damage.
He cranes up with a hum, elbowing you as he scratches his face.
“The floor is wet.”
“Where?”
You wrap your fingers around his in the darkness, guiding them past your body to skim the floor.
“Shit,” he sighs.
You prod around, shoving away non-lantern-shaped or textured items.
“Here,” Eddie clicks his lighter. It sparks a few times before lighting, casting skewed shadows against the walls. He yawns, gesturing at the lantern with closed lids. You click it on, dangling it over the gap beside the mattress—golden light glimmers against the water. Eddie climbs over you to view it, hair swaying as he shifts. Your heavy eyes travel up in tandem to catch the steady drip from the roof. A small, fraying line splits the fabric. He pushes a thumb against the next forming bead. His tongue slips back in his mouth to clear his throat, “I’ve got duct tape in the van but I don’t think it’ll stick to this.” He scratches the canvas, “‘specially not in the rain.”
You nod, observing as his brain churns. His gaze flicks to his wrist watch and then he’s folding over his legs in a cat-like stretch. Hunched over, he says, “It’s too early for this. Let’s just go sleep in the van.” He hums as if to ask, “How does that sound?”
You trace the curve of his spine as he stretches, “‘kay.” Neither of you move. Rain pelts the tarp rhythmically.
“Come on,” he sighs deeply before pushing up to unzip the tent. Stray raindrops blow inside, a couple catching your hand where it bunches clothes together. You sweep whatever is near into his bag, passing Eddie his sneakers. You don’t bother lacing yours.
He throws his denim jacket over your shoulders before you race out, shoes squelching against the mud. Your heel dips into a puddle as you plant your hands against the slick sliding door. Eddie jams the keys in the lock with rehearsed practice, climbing in and pressing buttons until the rest of the locks click. You rapidly pull the metal handle, nearly eating shit as your foot slides.
Eddie jumps back out. “Piece of shit door,” he grumbles and bumps your hip, pushing with you until the door lurches open. When he clears it, you slam it behind him. The backpack and his jacket are discarded onto the floor before you climb over the center console after him. He starts the car, cranking the temperature knobs until warm air blows from the vents.
As soon as your eyes meet, you crumble into giggles. Any bit of sleepiness left has vanished. His hair is flattened with moisture and his cheeks rosy from the cold. You curl your nail under a black strand stuck to his chin.
“Needed a shower anyway,” Eddie shakes his hair out like a dog, spraying you in the face.
You yell and shield yourself with your sleeves.
He licks a stray droplet off his lip then leans over the seats searching. Eddie gets up and squirms between them, kicking the water bottle in the cup holder. You slip your shoes off, pushing them under the seat to avoid tracking any more mud.
Your palms hover flat against the heat for a while. It’s quiet per Eddie standards so you glance behind your seat. In the dim car light, your boyfriend shuffles through his backpack. He’s chewing on his lip as he tips it over to dump the contents out, mostly clothes. His eyes widen when he finds you staring.
“Find me something to wear?” You ask.
He nods after a moment, still watching you like a child with their hand in the cookie jar. You turn back around hesitantly.
You busy yourself with reading the campsite pamphlet you’d been given at the entrance. But the grinding of the slider door has you whipping your head back around. Eddie’s halfway outside, shouting, “One sec’!” The door shuts abruptly leaving you alone in the van. You climb into the back, cupping your hands against the foggy glass. Your boyfriend has his jacket slung across his back as he crouches into the tent. A couple of minutes pass and he’s running back. You pull the door open for him and he thanks you as he hops in.
“What?” You question.
He flashes a tight-lipped smile, “Forgot this.” He holds out his lighter in one hand, placing his jacket on the floor neatly with the other.
You narrow your eyes at him. “You’ve got like three in the glovebox, Eddie.”
“This one’s my favorite.” The lighter is lime green, adorned with a fading smiley face drawn in sharpie, thanks to you. He scratches his neck sheepishly. You don’t know whether to believe him since he’s never shown a preference for lighters before now but he seems genuinely embarrassed that you’ve found out.
“Oh,” you settle with, choosing to let it go, lest you embarrass the poor boy further.
You dissolve into separate chores in the back of the van. He smears the puddle by the door with his already wet t-shirt and you hunt for another pair of his pajama pants for yourself. Dry clothes are dwindling, having soaked two pairs each already. But you manage to find new bottoms and a fresh shirt for Eddie. He’s slipping it over his head, crisscrossed on the floor in only his boxers. You circle the small space, plucking any soggy clothes off the floor to hang dry on a camping chair that had been left in the van. As you scoop up Eddie’s jacket something rolls out onto the floor. You kneel to pick up a small, black box with your free hand. You scratch curiously at the velvet, wavering to hand it off to Eddie. Gears turn in your head as you glance up at your boyfriend who stares at you from the floor a few feet away. Your expression mirrors his, mouth agape, eyebrows raised.
“I—”
“Is this?“ You say simultaneously.
Your limbs are locked in place, mouth dry as you try to string together a coherent question. Suddenly the heat pouring from the vents is too hot. You might as well catch fire with how your cheeks burn.
He deflates in front of you, shoulders sagging and chin drooping in one motion.
You shove the box into his hands as if that will fix it.
He furrows his brows and looks away, “Shit.”
You are about to offer to pretend you haven’t seen it when he continues.
“This whole trip has really gone to shit, huh?” He shakes his head, throwing a hand out defeatedly, “I mean– I had this whole perfect plan and I was trying so hard not to fuck it up. The shower and the fucking rain. Hell, Steve, even Wayne warned me to do it right and I– I just.” He scoffs, head tipping back against the door. “I almost lost it.”
It’s then that it dawns on you that Eddie Munson, your boyfriend, intended to propose to you on this trip. That he plans to marry and spend the rest of his life with you.
“–want you to think that I don’t care enough—“
“Eddie,” you whisper.
“–and I wanted you to know how seri—“
“Eddie!” Your on the dirty floor of his van, knees digging into his as you push the box further into his chest, “Fucking ask me already.”
He melts under your stare, breath shuddering hesitantly despite your growing smile. “I– Will you—“
You're already nodding at the first word. “Yes, you idiot.” You’ve lunged into his chest, smiling uncontrollably into his neck.
He chuckles nervously into your temple, slowly wrapping an arm around you. But he pulls back, “Are you sure?”
“Yes,” you answer immediately.
His eyes dance around your face, lingering on the spot below your ear he likes to kiss. He presses his nose there instead, giggling like a little kid. “I can’t believe you said yes,” he whispers breathily, more to himself than you.
“Why wouldn’t I?” You squeeze him, eyebrows furrowed.
“I dunno, I just thought,” he trails off.
“Eddie,” you peel him off your skin, waiting until he looks at you. “This is perfect.” You knead your nose and eyes before anything escapes. “I don’t care if it rained or if we didn’t see the meteors or about fucking s’mores for Christ’s sake!” You smack him lightly in the chest, smiling hard.
His eyes are glassy and he swallows hard. “You haven’t even seen the ring yet,” his voice shakes when he says it.
“There could be a paper ring in there for all I care.”
He grins, wiping his nose on his sleeve. “Should’ve told me that before I bought something.”
You laugh wetly and he brings the box up to your hands to open together. Rings are not something you and Eddie had discussed much if at all and yet somehow he managed to find just what you envisioned.
The tears finally fall as you say, “It’s gorgeous, Eds.”
He chases them away with kisses, cupping your cheek to pull you closer.
When you're momentarily done studying the jewelry you press your lips to his. He’s reluctant to pull away, diving in for a second, then a third, like you’ll change your mind if he lets you go.
“Here,” his hands are shaking as he plucks the ring from its cushion and cradles your hand. The ring slips on easily, a tad too big, but “Wayne knows someone who can tighten it.”
You nod, grinning wildly at your hand. He’s watching you with a similar wobbly expression when you glance up. You remain a tangled pile of soppy limbs on the metal floor until your back aches. He’s pulling you up and clicking off the lights before crawling up front.
“I don’t know how you expect me to fall asleep now,” you whisper giddily, cheek pressed to the reclined passenger seat.
From across you, he says, “I don’t think I can either.” He watches you fondly as you twist the ring around your finger. He’s thinking about how stupid he was to worry so much about what Wayne and Steve fucking Harrington of all people warned him about. That he knows he’s never felt so strongly about someone before and that he’d be crazy to let you slip away.
Your gasp breaks his stream of consciousness. You’ve sat up, pointing through the windshield. “Look!”
“What?” he’s ducking his head, flipping up the sun visor, and glancing from you to the glass, trying to track your line of sight. Then he finds it, a long arc of light breaking through the clouds. It’s faint, fading in and out of the darkness as it streams from one end of the sky to the other. It passes, and you both observe for more, wide-eyed and stiff like dolls.
“Look at that,” you blink deliriously, slumping back into the seat.
“Did you get the universe in on this or something when I wasn’t looking?” He’s baffled, chuckling to himself.
“Maybe it’s a sign,” you smirk.
He nods, leaning over to peck the corner of your lip. “Didn’t need one. Knew you were it from day one.” He slinks back into his seat, leaving you a blushing ball of flames.
