met up with a friend a few nights back over some games. usual catch-up until talks about past nomadic lifestyle came up, then life. then beer. im not usually the type who picks up talk about life. brain can handle small talks, blabs about poorly thought ideas, and mindlessly stupid and fun drunken conversations. that's the usual extent of it. so, this was a curve ball.

its ironic how sometimes life tells you what you need to hear, not through another person, but yourself. your unsolicited advice ends up convincing, not the the other party, but yourself.

the calm talks about life, himalayas, india etc do stir something inside. something chaotic. the type that leaves you restless and pondering even after a few nights, even when the conversations long ended. it put things in perspective though. sort of a gentle nudge, a good reminder.

i’m pretty sure this is a common experience, but i get really obsessed with songs for like. a month or so and then the obsession leaves a bit, but ive been rocking out to ‘hold back the river’ by james bay for like. a WHILE and it is just so so good. and i need to listen to the rest of his music bc his voice is very nice and i like it lmfao. anyway, please take this song recommendation bc goddamn is this one just gold

The minute they turn 18, Jon and Damian elope.

Compared to the rest of the Bats, and even a lot of other heroes or vigilantes, the two have had a very open relationship. They talk about everything. Damian inherited the strategic planning of his family and Jon inherited the emotional vulnerability.

It means that once they are together they both know that no matter what the other does, this is it. To have found someone you love and who loves you this strongly, to outlast change and loss, it’s not something you let go of.

They get married the day after the second 18th birthday, not wanting the anniversary to overlap completely but also needing their families out of their hair. It’s done at a courthouse in Kansas, the same place Jon’s parents and grandparents had it done, even if they later threw public ceremonies.

They both finish out school and then start on the rest of their plans, for Damian it’s medical school. For Jon it’s figuring out his major. They get an apartment together and their families smile about them being college roommates. The let them smile, knowing that they’re building their first home together.

They attend college. If anything happens on campus, both of them are there to respond and make contingency plans for the fallout.

They graduate. Their entire families come out of the woodwork and throw a joint graduation party. They have job offers all over the country and they discuss at length where they should live. With Jon’s powers, distance is a difficult conversation, because Damian doesn’t want to rely on it, but can’t ignore its utility.

They settle on New York. Close to both their families, enough problems for them each to solve, and a city they can let become their own. To learn and love as their parents have before them.

They live their lives, their families thinking they’re best friends and never really bringing it up. And they don’t mention it either, not needing to. They are secure in each other and honestly were under the impression their families already knew.

When they adopt their first child, an orphan from a battle that few survived, it is a shock to their families that they never realized they were married. That Damian was Jon’s medical proxy not as his doctor, but as his husband. Asking them why they didn’t say anything leaves the couple baffled. It never occurred to them that their families didn’t know. It was on their taxes, their league files, to them it’s the equivalent of common knowledge.

They have a vow renewal that their families and friends can attend. They’re partially glad they waited since now their child can be in the photos.

Time goes by, they live their lives, and at the end, hold the record for longest lasting marriage between two mortals. They made it 75 years, their proudest accomplishment and happiest endeavor.

One of my favorite headcanons is that Heart is often violent during his crying fits, especially if someone is trying to comfort him.

Soul struggles to keep him still as he sobs and squirms, beating desperate fists into Souls chest because it’s all too much and he has so much pent up energy. Tightening his grasp on Souls shoulders until bruises form and Soul has to practically man handle him to get him to calm down.

Soul wakes up sore and covered in bruises in the morning, trying his hardest not to hiss in pain as he goes about his daily activities. Heart struggles to fully remember, but he knows it’s because of him, the guilt eats him alive.

Someone should write a thunderbolts fic where John gets amnesia in the middle of a fight and believes he’s in the field and is the most focused and diligent soldier they’ve ever seen.

He doesn’t know what going on but he only ask for currently relevant information and is giving military grade signals and calls. Everyone is a little off kilter and partially concerned.

trying not to talk too much abt the bear s2 but im Really fuckin frustrated that even with everyone demanding that they’re sooo media literate and sooo smart that no one has talked about claire and the way she sparks audience discomfort. like, she feels out of place within the show because CARMY cannot accept that he is getting this good thing—she feels out of place in HIS life. she’s actually crafted to be the ideal girlfriend, with glowy bokeh lighting in a grocery store and beauty shot close ups and a sweet instrumental leitmotif to show to you, an audience member, that she’s too good to be true in carmys eyes. if you’re an audience member, she raises alarm bells in YOUR head because she raises alarm bells in HIS. he literally tells us that—that’s the crux of his final monologue, that he doesn’t believe he can have the life of food and wines best chef and a life of love and human connection. he doesn’t believe he’s deserving of good things because his family has always been so fucked, because nothing he’s ever tried to hold together has held together—except for his cooking. it’s done this way on purpose, to make you feel that anxiety that he feels around this relationship, and to make you question why you feel it too
