Adults can change their circumstances; children cannot. Children are powerless, and in difficult situations they are the victims of every sorrow and mischance and rage around them, for children feel all of these things but without any of the ability that adults have to change them. Whatever can take a child beyond such circumstances, therefore, is an alleviation and a blessing. I quickly found for myself two such blessings—the natural world, and the world of writing: literature. These were the gates through which I vanished from a difficult place.

Today I want to talk to you about the family of @yousef-falestinef.
Falestine's family is facing many adversities. In the middle of the war, she gave birth to her beautiful baby, Youssef. The IDF destroyed her home, and right after her son's birth her whole family had to move in a tent in unsanitary conditions: the tent is next to a a dilapidated public toilet and there is dirt everywhere.
There are no medicines or vitamins. Falestine can't provide enough milk and diapers for her baby. There is not enough food or clean water.
They are surrounded by scorpions and other dangerous insects, and of course there are constant attacks by Israel's army against innocent civilians.
Falestine's parents should enjoy be enjoying the years of their old age peacefully, they should be resting, but this isn't possible for them. Falestine's mother has chronic illnesses she isn't being treated for, and her father suffered a stroke.
Please, help this family. They are more than halfway to the goal, and with your help they can reach it. Even the smallest donation can contribute to save their lives.
Vetted here.

For me, Sol, didnt do anything that bad as all think. Like, he killed one person and what now lol. Like Anakin killed a dozens of children and nobody takes shit lmao. Sol thinks that he was doing the right thing. And I kinda didnt liked the twins so…
He made a series of mistakes and he clearly was carrying that guilt and shame w him all that time. we can see this from his reaction all the way til the finale (he never draws his saber until the situation calls for it, still sees good Mae, was the first one saying he will face the council, and still wants to tell Osha the truth and face the consequences). His mistakes make him a complex character and w LJJ amazing performance he became an unforgettable character to me. Idc if ppl hate him I can just ignore them or block them if they are being annoying in my posts.
** long rant about what actually pissed me off under the cut ⚠️
I'm jsut tired of this show as a whole so im just taking Sol and Jecki out, read my one fav fanfic of them, and create their own version in my head that has nothing to do w the show anymore.
However, if you want to see a good depiction of a well-intentioned yet emotionally flawed and morally ambiguous father figure who then died at the hand of his adopted daughter, I suggest you watch "Hunt". It's a movie directed by LJJ back in 2022. It has its own issues but the ending of that movie got me more emotional than this shit show lol.
** What actually pissed me off about this show is the way the finale threw Sol's whole arc up until this point into the trash. Suddenly he started yapping about the vergence, which was not established until ep7 (and in ep7 his main concern was the twins' safety, not that bs). Suddenly he wanted to shoot down Mae now even tho he didn't wanna fight her and was trying to save her on Khofar. Suddenly he didn't want to face the council now and tried to justify his action (while he clearly was so sorry about it and wanted to face the council before). All of this happened without a proper build-up (The father's spiraling was done much better in Hunt lmao). Osha's fall can be done much better and still have everyone stay in character yet still lead to the same outcome, and have a much stronger impact.
And the way Leslye talked about him in her interview like he's an overbearing father and him saying "it's okay" in the end is taking away Osha's agency (???). If i talk more this post is gonna get too long so I'm just gonna link a few links here so you can read them. They explain everything that made me dislike the show even more and don't wanna think about it anymore now lol
x <- about how they ruined the first Asian Jedi Master we got, which pissed me off as a SEA person and a Jedi enjoyer.
x x<- about the writing for Sol
x <- about one of LH interviews where the interviewer said Sol is a bad parent and sexist, and she just went along w that take (how???)
x <-Jedi can love deeply, be it familial or romantic. they just don't let those emotions control them
x x <- more about the shitty writing of this show

Ways abusive parents try to separate you from your human rights:
They threaten to call the police on you if you don't obey them
They threaten you with jail-time and insist that the police will take you away for disobedience
They actually call the police, or emergency services, to create consequences for disobedience
They threaten to 'give you away' to groups of people they deem 'worse' than themselves
They threaten that you'll be kidnapped and sold if you don't obey them
They threaten for you to be put in a home
They threaten you with inhumane living conditions in a home (you won't have you room, you won't have anything, they'll beat you up ever day, etc)
They threaten to institutionalize you if you don't do as they say
They threaten to put you in a mental hospital/psych ward/asylum
They threaten you with court, institutions and government
They convince you that every institution, social service, law enforcement, or any other organized group of people is on their side, and against you, and would fight on their side and enforce their rule over you
They act as if disobeying them is against the law/religion
They insist that nobody will ever want to hire you or pay you a salary
They imply or outright say that it's a waste of space if you were renting out a place or had a place of your own, you do not have the right to occupy your own space in their eyes
They take away your necessities if you disobey them (food, ability to use the bathroom, clothing)
They destroy your property as a form of revenge, and insist it never belonged to you and that they had every right to destroy it
They make sure you're not exposed to educational materials that would inform you that you have a right to safety, food, shelter, and protection from violence and threats
They fight very hard to convince you that what they're doing to you is NOT abuse (saying things like 'you don't even KNOW what abuse is, or 'I'll show you abuse'), and they make sure you're not exposed to any resources or education that would help you recognize abuse
Punishments for standing up for yourself or any attempts to reach justice or point out how unfair, inescapable, hypocritical and painful your situation is
Not allowing you to speak, punishing you for talking back, convincing you that you have no voice and you have no right to defend yourself in any measure
Exposing you to media or real-life situations where children are abused just as badly, or worse than you are, this is a part of grooming they do to convince you that child abuse is normal, acceptable behaviour and not abuse at all
Suggesting that they could do all this to you, and even outright threatening it, implying strongly they know they can get away with it, since others can
Convince you that everyone else has it worse, and repeat how lucky you actually are to have them
They list all of the things that would be happening to you if they weren't so kind to you (you'd be starving on the street, be kidnapped/sold/tortured, die from lack of resources, be abandoned, not survive in any possible way)
Convince you that you're not, in fact, a human being and thus have no business expecting human rights (brainwashing, calling you animal names, calling you demon/satan/monster)
Accuse you repeatedly of being a financial burden, shame you for costing money, demand credit/favours/services/labour/obedience in return for giving you survival resources like food and clothing and school supplies
Neglect to inform you that government is giving them a tax-break for every kid they're supporting and that the society is built so that children would be financially taken care of and do not need to earn their food, shelter or basic necessities
Scare you into believing that every other authority figure (teachers, boss, police, judge, authorities) would treat you even worse and would demand even a higher degree of obedience and submission from you, threaten you with how badly the interaction would go for you if you were to stand up to any other authority figure
Insist that if you were to act with this level of spite, refusal, rejection or disrespect to any other person, they would simply snap and kill you (implied death threat – you're lucky that I'm not ending your life right now)
Act like they own you, to the degree that they feel they have every right to end your life and would not be arrested or blamed if they were to kill you, since you're just their property
Add more if you have lived through other experiences that left you feeling like you had no protection, no rights in the eyes of the law, and no way to recognize your humans rights are being violated. Even one single item on this list means your human rights were kept from you.

Misbehavior is not a reflection of merit Misbehavior is not a reflection of character Misbehavior is not a reflection of intelligence Misbehavior is not a reflection of work ethic Misbehavior is not a reflection of morals or values
Misbehavior is a reflection of well-being Misbehavior is a reflection of environment Misbehavior is a reflection of power dynamics Misbehavior is a reflection of support systems Misbehavior is a reflection of how someone is treated
“Bad” kids don’t misbehave hurting kids misbehave traumatized kids misbehave abused kids misbehave neglected kids misbehave scared kids misbehave lonely kids misbehave grieving kids misbehave stressed kids misbehave overwhelmed kids misbehave burnt-out kids misbehave
Its not a “tantrum” or a “fit” or a “bad kid” with “unacceptable behavior,” it’s a cry for help
When kids misbehave, stop “punishing” and “disciplining” and “reprimanding” them
When kids misbehave for the love of god just help them
And P.S. this basically applies to adults as well

A lot of parents don’t see children as people and violate them in ways that would be unacceptable if they were adults
You wouldn’t lie to an adult about what you put in their food
You wouldn’t beat an adult as punishment
You won’t force an adult to hug or kiss someone
But when it’s done to kids it’s seen as normal, and these things are treated as an almost universal experience. Kids are fucking people, treat them as such.

Reminder,,!!
Everything you see & hear from Gaza is the tip of the iceberg. No video or photo can convey the smell of death, the sound of 24/7 drones, the feeling of shaking ground, the desperation of hunger & the pain of a surgical without anesthetic, the sensory terror of genocide.. 😭💔💔

A lot of intenret content on child abuse/childrens rights violations i see is (rightly) focused mainly upon parents and teachers. But i wish there were more discussions about other adults with authority over children -- pediatricians, doctors, therapists, psychiatrists.
As someone who has personally survived them, i can guarantee that pediatricians/therapists can be abusive shits who enable or do nothing about the parents. The abusive parents may manipulate them to take their side and dismiss the child, telling the child its their fault, they need to obey the rules until they're 18, or theyre "rude/disrespectful/badly behaved/ungrateful/oversensitive." Or they may medicate the child to shut their anxiety/depression up, but then do absolutely NOTHING to help remove the child from their abusive parents causing that in the first place.

These are not our clothes. We dress much more beautiful than this, but we did not have time to take what we were wearing, and these are not our features. We have grown a lot, and we no longer remember our old features. Our hair had never grown to this extent before, but there is no encouragement to shave or take care of ourselves, and we did not expect it to one day grow like this. This is not our psychology. We love laughter, the gathering of friends, and the laughter of neighbors. We never expected all of this to disappear from our hands at once without warning. We are not what we were before, everything in us has changed forever.
