"Z-Zero?" A meek voice rings out in the temporary headquarters of the Black Knights.

Lelouch blinks from behind his mask and looks away from some documents to look at the voice that had called him. (Y/N) was there, playing with her hair and with her pink-tinged cheeks, avoiding eye contact with her leader. The boy lets out a small sigh behind his mask, annoyed at being disturbed.

"What happens?" (Y/N) flinches at his words and shifts uncomfortably, the pink turning red on her cheeks.

"W-well, Tamaki told me you wanted to talk to me about the plan..." Lelouch's purple eyes narrow: he had never told Tamaki to call her. Damn Tamaki, he did it to embarrass me, the boy thinks.

The leader is both frustrated by the interruption of his work and annoyed by Tamaki's prank, but he suppresses the urge to get angry to avoid scaring the already intimidated girl in front of him. Actually, not because he doesn't want to scare the girl, but because he doesn't want to scare (Y/N): ever since Lelouch met (Y/N) at school a few months before obtaining the Geass, he's always felt a very strong attraction towards her; then, that attraction turned into love.

Furthermore, when she showed up in front of Zero, saying she wanted to join the Black Knights, his first instinct was to forbid her from participating in the missions due to the fear she would get hurt. However, the boy was then dissuaded from carrying out that behavior by C.C. to avoid anyone noticing his preference for the girl.

So, Lelouch quickly thinks about how to extricate himself from the complicated situation he's in: "(Y/N), I-"

He can't even finish the sentence he was about to say, because a loud sound screeches in their ears, echoing in the room occupied by Zero and (Y/N). The girl is stunned and closes her eyes, preparing for the worst, when they feel the ground shake and pieces of the ceiling begin to collapse. When she doesn't feel any pain, she opens her eyes.

"Z-Zero? A-are you okay? A-are you hurt?" One of Lelouch's arms is against the wall next to (Y/N); the other arm holds her close, caging her body with his and acting as a shield.

"I'm fine." The boy pulls away from the girl, loosening his grip.

After standing a little distance from her, Zero calmly presses a button on the side of his mask with one hand, shocking and astounding (Y/N) when she hears the whirring of gears, causing the back of the mask to retract.

"Z-Zero, what are you-"

"Answer me, (Y/N) -he interrupts her- are a few months enough to fall in love?"

"I-I think anything is possible in love. Why did you ask me this?"

(Y/N) swallows, watching the boy adjust his mask so his mouth is visible.

"Because I'm madly in love with you." The girl doesn't even have time to realize what he said, before Lelouch grabs her face and brings it close to his, and presses his lips to hers.

"Suzaku, I'm scared" (Y/N) whispers.

While she and her brother Schneizel were in a meeting, an attack by the Black Knights was reported, so Suzaku, (Y/N)'s Knight, grabbed her hand and started running to carry her to safety.

After they moved away from the attacked area, the princess felt the pressure collapse on her; she burst into tears, both because of the fear for her life and because of the concern everyone had managed to escape to safety.

The girl feels strong arms around her and then herself being carried against a warm body. Her eyes open: she sees her Knight embracing her.

"I'll protect you, princess." Suzaku says softly in (Y/N)'s ear, holding her tighter to him.

"S-Suzaku..." The princess murmurs in surprise, looking at him shyly and sweetly, heat flooding her cheeks.

Suddenly, loud battle noises ring out and the sounds of explosions, which cause the ground to shake, almost causing the princess to fall, are heard. Suzaku's eyes widen a little, and he immediately turns, almost as if to go back.

"Where are you going?" She cries.

"I must go back to fight with 'Lancelot'. Please, princess, stay here, so you'll be far enough from the combat zone."

"But Suzaku, you have to follow me -she whispers- I'm scared."

"Princess -the boy approaches the girl, with his eyes full of pain- I have to fight again to protect you." (Y/N) knows Suzaku must respect his duties as a Knight.

"But... You can't protect me if you're there." The girl says, trying to convince the boy to stay with her, since she doesn't want him to go because she fears he might die.

"I have to go -Suzaku replies with regret- those from the R&D Division have already called me before: they need 'Lancelot'."

"Wait!" (Y/N) screams as her Knight turns and takes a few steps towards the headquarters Zero attacked, running to hug him from behind and starting to sob.

"Please, please, don't go! I already lost Euphy, don't leave me too!" The princess can't breathe because of the tears and sobs, and she's crying so much she can hardly stand up straight: she's in the middle of hysterics.

So, Suzaku immediately hugs (Y/N), first hesitantly, fearing her panic attack might get worse, then more tightly, after seeing she showed no sign of resistance and, indeed, she seemed to calm down the closer he was to her.

"I'll never leave: I'll always stay next to you and protect you."

Minutes pass, and (Y/N) slowly calms down, cradled in her Knight's arms and soothed by his sweet, relaxing words.

"Hold out your hand." Suzaku says, placing a watch on his princess' outstretched hand, and he continues: "This watch is very important to me: it's the last gift my father gave me. Keep it safe for me -he gently closes her hand- and, when we meet again, you can return it to me. I swear I'll come back to you."

After saying that, the boy starts to turn around, but the girl calls his name, so he turns back again to look at her.

"Princess?"

"I love you, Suzaku! Please, come back." After saying those words, which shocked him, (Y/N) looks at her Knight softly, and she gently presses her lips to his.

Britannian Military Prison in Japan, evening.

After another day of torture, (Y/N) is in her cell, hurt, sore and crying in pain.

Unfortunately, the Britannian Military had discovered the girl was one of the Black Knights' girlfriend, so it had captured her and has continued to torture her to have information about them. However, it was wrong: (Y/N) didn't even know her boyfriend Kal was one of the Black Knights.

While the girl was reflecting on her boyfriend, a very loud noise is heard and the ground begins to shake, and her cell's door is thrown open. That scares her a lot, so she tries to hide herself in the most remote corner of her cell. Nevertheless, it isn't a soldier who enters, but a tall man, dressed in black and with a mask on his face: he's one of the Black Knights.

"(Y/N)!" The girl recognizes the man by his voice.

"Ohgi? It's you?"

(Y/N) already knows Ohgi: he had come to Kal's house several times while they were together; her boyfriend said he was a friend of his brother and, after his death, he continued to come to visit him. The girl never would have thought that kind man was one of the Black Knights.

"Yes, it's me. (Y/N), are you ok? Kal was so anxious about you... Come, he's waiting for you outside." Ohgi holds out his hand towards her, but (Y/N) pulls away.

"I don't want!"

"Why?"

"I don't want to see Kal: he lied to me the whole time! I don't want to go back to him! Please come back. I don't want you to get hurt because of me."

The man looks at the girl for a few seconds, torn between whether to leave or try to convince her to follow him. However, before Ohgi can make a decision, sounds of footsteps are heard, and then a head pops out of the door: Kal.

"(Y/N)!" Kal rushes to embrace (Y/N), wrapping his arms around her waist and burying his face in the crook of her neck. Nevertheless, she doesn't feel good in his embrace like all the other times: his lie has hurt her too deeply. In fact, she violently and quickly breaks away from the embrace.

"Stay away from me!" The poor girl screams, quickly pulling away and falling to the ground from the force she broke away with.

"Darling?" The boy tries to move closer to his girlfriend, but she pulls away again, trembling and almost crying from the pressure and worry.

"What happens? Are you ok? What have they done?"

"The soldiers hurt me, but you hurt me more: why did you lie to me? You were taking advantage of me, weren't you? I'm a Britannian, were you pretending to love me just to get information about the Britannians?"

"No!" Kal exclaims.

"I swear to you: I've never taken advantage of you. When I fell in love with you, I wasn't one of the Black Knights yet; after I became one, I didn't want to tell you anything because I didn't want to worry you or put you in danger." He continues more calmly, gently helping the girl to get up.

"You don't necessarily have to continue to be my girlfriend, but at least let me continue to protect you, please. I don't want anything to happen to you again." After saying that, Kal hugs (Y/N) again, taking care not to hurt her, and he brings his face closer to hers, until they touch their foreheads.

"Will you let me protect you?" After she gives her nod, the Black Knight captures his girlfriend's lips with his in a tender kiss, while continuing to hold her tightly, as if protecting her from all harm.

"I'm sorry."

"Don't be."

"Sorry." (Y/N) repeats, as she finishes treating Cornelius' many wounds.

"I already told you not to be." The prince replies.

They both remain silent for a few minutes. (Y/N) is embarrassed to be so close to the person she loves, Cornelius is trying to repress the groans of pain caused by his wounds.

"Are you angry?" The woman breaks the silence, worried her superior was angry with her. In fact, (Y/N) was a new Knightmare Frames pilot, but, during her first mission, an attack against the Japan Liberation Front, a disaster happened: the group led by Prince Cornelius, in which she had been placed, was the victim of a surprise assault, and (Y/N) would have died if it weren't for her commander, who threw himself into the path of a spear to save her, but injuring himself.

"Not with you." The prince answers.

"Why not with me?"

"Why should I be angry with you?"

"I was careless. I almost got myself killed. Because of me you got hurt!" The soldier screams with a broken voice, surprising Cornelius with her outburst.

The man, recovered from the shock of the woman's outburst, smiles almost sweetly, and he gently caresses her head.

"Don't worry. I don't care you cause me trouble or I hurt myself to save your life."

(Y/N) wonders if what Cornelius told her was some kind of confession, while blushing profusely. Nevertheless, despite wanting to ask him the meaning of those words, she can't say anything other than an apology.

"Stop apologizing or I'll get angry."

"Excu-" (Y/N) stops before finishing the sentence.

"I can't help saying that!" Due to her phrase, the prince bursts out laughing, making the soldier blush again.

"I've done it!" The woman exclaimes happily and, after seeing the man's confused look, she continues, but with a bit of shyness: "Since you're always so serious and, forgive me if I say it, even a little sad, I set myself the goal of making you laugh at least once."

After a few seconds of silence, Cornelius murmurs: "You're wonderful, (Y/N), you know?"

"Really? Are you serious?"

Without even realizing it, the soldier steps closer to her superior, taking his right hand in hers.

"I really mean it." The prince whispers, tucking a strand of her hair, which had escaped from her bun, behind her ears with the hand that wasn't held by hers.

"I think this is why I fell in love with you." Without giving (Y/N) time to realize his words, Cornelius bows his head and presses his lips softly and delicately to hers.

A concept that never fails to creep me out is the archetype of the manipulative yandere.

They're the kind of people who you would never see coming and wouldn't even know that they were the true puppet masters behind all of the horrible situations happening in your life unless they were the ones who decided to stop screwing with you and to just get on with it already.

There is a high chance of them not doing that though. Why? Well, reasons may vary depending on the character.

Perhaps it is out of sadistic amusement, they get a kick out of knowing that they are the ones who hold the key to either totally obliterating your life or making it so much better than you could have ever predicted. I personally like to headcanon this specific subtype of yandere as slightly more active as they establish a connection with you but play coy once they see that your mood is rightfully down in the dumps. You have nowhere to go - come running to them instead.

It's not like you have any other options anyway.

They are doing you a favor. That is how they think of this, it is how they operate. You are front and center of everything they do, they do not take action unless they calculate every single possible move and outcome. Only then do they feel confident that they can make the next move.

Unlike the previous group the sadistic aspect is thrown completely out of the window but is instead replaced with a twisted sense of fear and worry, giving them the excuse that they are doing the right thing and that it is all for your benefit. That is why they plan out with who you'll be with and who shall be smoothly dealt with.

They don't want to hurt you. They want you to love them. They want to love you.

Long or Short Replies: It depends honestly. Lot of times my muses direct how shit goes besides my mood. So if low mood it's small replies unless our chemistry is high or that muse is high. Sometimes I do long as well. Just like there to be something for me to answer to cause no one likes getting a reply you can't build off of.

Pet Peeves: Constantly pestering for responses unless we're really close like my wife. Wife has those privileges or my closest friends but please keep in mind I eventually get to them. As part of the lovely effort organised by the people over at @ficsforgaza, and to try and raise some more money for Palestinian individuals and families who desperately need it, I will be participating in the fics for Gaza initiative!

How do I request a fic?

If you're interested in requesting a fic, all you have to do is message me your actual fic request, be it a detailed outline or something vague like tone or ship or tropes, and then after I've confirmed I can do it donate to one of these vetted fundraisers for individuals and families, or one of these vetted fundraisers, then send me an ask or message with a screenshot of your donation (with any sensitive or personal information blocked out of course)!

The word count of the fic will be based on how much you donate, with a rate of 1$ for roughly every 100 words (for example, if you donate 5$ to a fundraiser, you'll get a fic that's roughly 500 words, and if you donate 10$, you'll get roughly 1000 words.). I'm not going to cut off a fic early if it goes a bit over, but the fic will be about however many 100 words you donate.

Please let me know what type of fic you want before you donate. This allows me to talk to you about your ideas, allows us to agree on a rough word count, and allows me to check my availability so I don't get overloaded with work. If I can't take a request due to my own lack of time, or a fic idea needs a minimum length to work, I'd much much rather figure that out before you spend any money.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I try to! I'm, um. I'm really bad at it. In that I will attempt to respond to everyone in the first few days, but then I get distracted doing/writing something else and I am so tunnel-visioned that you won't hear from me until a week later and then I feel bad about taking so long to respond. Also I am very, very bad at responding because while I love love love seeing comments, it's just happy reactions and incoherent noises from me. How do I words to translate my appreciation???

6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? ...probably everything I wrote as a kid? I have very different ideas on angst nowadays, but I guess while I was writing it... between Gedächtnisse (FMA fic) and Sound of Silence (HP fic), I guess!

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? I write a lot of fluff pieces nowadays! But overall, probably Something About December (FFXIII fic), since it's a Christmas fic or Family (FFXIII), which was written to give Sazh more support in the third game.

8. Do you get hate on fics? Once, someone pointed out my join date on the website and asked me why I was still writing fanfiction.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I have, but generally don't. Even most of my ships are closer to gen than not. I'm closer to the repulsed spectrum of ace, but I do like attempting to write all sorts of things.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? Yes! Love them! I've written a good handful-- but the craziest one was when I was... 10? 11? and I wrote Orions'Ka on a notebook and when I typed it up, it was well over 60,000 words. It had absolutely everything I loved back then.

15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? ....my old Harry Potter stuff, I'm sorry. Not a fandom I got back into again.

16. What are your writing strengths? I've been told it's characterizations! And descriptions.

17. What are your writing weaknesses? Everything else. Confidence, I guess. Also energy and interest. And once I overcome those, plot.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? ...me, or fics that do that? Because I've seen fics do that, full on paragraphs of dialogue in the original language but descriptions in English, and I don't understand. But if it's just... an important word, a statement, something the fandom would normally understand kept in its original language because there's just no good translation in English for it, then it absolutely works. Some things don't translate well, and fans usually like learning more about their canons. I personally try to keep things mostly in English nowadays, though, but I slip time to time.

19. First fandom you wrote for? Star Wars. I was in the single digits age, and wrote an introspective ficlet on Luke and Leia's feelings about how the original trilogy's ending, sitting together on Endor to watch it all burn.

20. Favorite fic you've written? ...I don't know if I have one. I either tend to be proud or hate what I've written, depending on the day, my mood, wind speeds, and cats. Currently I want to say Lost in a Moment, because I finished that recently and I had so many doubts about it so I'm proud I got through it.

Very very rarely. I use comments as a metric and adding my own makes it feel like I'm artificially increasing the count. Plus, if I start thanking one person I feel like I have to thank them all and then that spirals out of control. (Not to mention I have so much anxiety over reading comments and sometimes the brain just goes eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee)

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I tend to prefer 'angst with a happy ending', but probably Another Window To Break Out from my 1016 week fics.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Probably With You Around Me It’s Just So Easy To Be In Love. This whole series is just fluff. Everything else tends to have some angst along the way, though I think the series A Nymph's Heart also has a stupidly happy ending.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Yeah, I got some on I’ve Got a Feeling That I’m Not Complete Anymore, but it's also my most-kudos'd (at least, until I get 3 more on Take Me With You) so I kind-of assume those were anomalies? It definitely sucks that I can't go back and read those comments since I haven't (and won't) delete the bad ones and I know there are lovely people who left me nice comments.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yes. The sort of smut that has too much exposition, plenty of aftercare, and frequently bondage. There has to be feelings involved with my smut and, in my opinion, that's the best part of the smut.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Nope!

That is so difficult to answer. In F1 RPF it's easily Piarles. I used to read a fuck-ton of Drarry but Harry Potter anything gives me the ick these days, even fanfiction. If I had to pick an All-Time favorite, it's probably SuzaLulu from Code Geass. (Honestly I haven't touched the fandom in years but I might go check what's on AO3 these days hmmmm.....)

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I'm good about finishing my WIPs...eventually. The good thing for anyone who likes reading my stuff is that I do not post unless it's finished so you'll never have an unfinished work from me!

(That being said, I was writing some [redacted]!Charles and it was hitting a little too close to home so I might not go back to that one...)

16. What are your writing strengths?

Fantasy worldbuilding. I love the setup and introducing a strange new place. Actually probably worldbuilding in general, fantasy or not.

Resolutions. I often *hand wave* over an ending and it's just...yep! everything's good here! all done!

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I am hopelessly monolingual so I will not. I will use commonly-known endearments (Calamar, mon amour, schatz, etc.) but no actual dialogue.

One of the biggest challenges the narrative of my Code Geass fanfic posed to me was writing a love story with Lelouch. The series did not explore Lelouch's lover facet as it denied itself that aspect to pigeonhole him in the ambiguity, so I had a blank canvas before me. But the difficulty lay in the type of character that Lelouch is. Not exactly a character straight out of a romcom fluff (I used a fanfiction term! I mean those kind of overly sweet, lovely, heartwarming, pink stories that make you feel happy and make you believe in love, do you understand what? what do I mean? Those are the fluff stories); on the contrary, Lelouch looks like something out of a Shakespearean tragedy. He's not the ideal hero to tell a wholesome love story, is he? (One of my biggest fears is romanticizing wrong or immoral or toxic behavior; I don't want to be an author who contributes to the damage and bad reputation of the fics).

So, while I was writing the fanfic, on a whim I started reading "Jane Eyre" and here I was presented with a romance between a virtuous woman and a man tormented by his inner demons. It was exactly the type of romance that I intended to write with the two types of characters that I was working on.

On the one hand, Rochester is built on an archetype that was popularized in romanticism and is a variation of the typical romantic hero: the Byronic hero. Lelouch literally meets all the characteristics of this type of hero. In the words of historian and critic Thomas Macaulay, the Byronic hero is "a proud, temperamental, cynical man, with stamina in his brow and misery in his heart, someone who shows contempt for his class, implacable in revenge, but capable of affection ‘deep and strong’" (I won't go deeper because this topic gives enough for an independent post). I consider the Lelouch from my fanfic to be a more visceral version of the canonical Lelouch, so he tends to give in to his low passions and is much more Machiavellian and ruthless (we have several moments of vulnerability and reliability). At the same time, my readers have told me, he feels very human. To tell the truth, I think my Lelouch has suffered more than the canon Lelouch. It's hard to talk without giving spoilers or referring to a specific case

And, on the other hand, Jane is a character that stands out for her integrity and her principles. She is the moral guide who brings Rochester back to the light. In my fanfic, my Lelouch's love interest is Kallen and I think only she could play that role. Geass curse sucked C.C.'s morality and humanity away, turning her into an empty shell. Shirley is so comfortable in her happy bubble that every time she gets mixed up with the rebellion, she gets hurt. Kallen can gravitate between the normal world within the walls of Ashford Academy and the cruel world outside where a war is going on, and still remain unscathed. Even if she is a soldier who has had to take countless lives in battle, Kallen is not a killing machine. She does not lose the north. She holds firmly to her principles and her goals. It's the same in my fanfic, even though it takes place in an alternate universe. Kallen suffers one misfortune after another and manages to overcome them. She is endowed with a resilience and a morality that Lelouch needs to have (in fact, this is one of the reasons why I think Lelouch and Kallen's romance does work where the others fail).

Now that I exposed it like this, surely a lot of love stories built from this scheme will come to mind and that's because this type of romance is super common and is as old as humanity itself. In fact, I call this type of romance "Beauty and the Beast" because she is always pure of heart and he is a beast who needs to bring out that inner prince he has to be with her, yes! xd

I love this kind of romance. I’m not going to lie. However, it is difficult to write. Either it goes well or it goes wrong and for most it turns out fatally (understand that they deliver a toxic couple relationship). In my opinion, "Jane Eyre" did quite well. And, for me, it stands out among other cases because there is a deep awareness of the problem and they are actively working on it. The Rochester arc is an arc of redemption through love.

Redemption and love are two themes strongly present in my story and in my Lelouch's arc.

The canon Lelouch was able to save himself from doom thanks to the love and friendship he was given by the student council and I accepted that: in part because of the anime's setting, Lelouch is a teenager and for that stage of life friendship plays an important rol; In part, I accepted it because it's an anime and anime, in general terms, gives a special place to friendship. Same as in western cartoons aimed at children; but in books, live-action series, movies, even anime and animated series aimed at adult audiences, friendship is no longer the main focus (I don't know if you've noticed).

The Lelouch in my story is an adult Lelouch and, for this stage of life, friends are and are not. Most of the time the adults are involved in their own business and every once in a while they can see each other and talk only to lose themselves again. Sometimes you only have a friend with whom you walk up and down (ONLY ONE). On the other hand, at this stage of life, it is more likely to look for someone to share life with (that is my vision; you may disagree or agree with me).

So, in the absence of a sincere friendship, I thought it more convincing to give my adult Lelouch a love. It will be up to him if he wants to redeem himself or sink into darkness (you know).

sooo i haven’t written my code geass fanfic in three years and i keep getting likes on it, and i recently started rewatching it again (breaking my “rewatch once a decade rule” gasp) and i was thinking if i should continue
