Chef! Abby’s! first viral video was around a year ago. A simple clip of her making cacio e pepe. The video was beautifully shot, a warm coloring complementing the glossy dish. but what really got everyone’s attention?

The way her forearms tensed while she cracked fresh pepper. Veins showing themselves along her freckled skin. Comments often reading:

@ “ok but how do i get the pasta to look this good?”

@ “i have something to say but i want to go to college”

@ “ma’am, i’m trying to focus but your ARMS?????😣”

@ “looks SO good💕..and the food i guess”

Chef Abby! had always loved cooking, growing up in a kitchen with her dad, who ran The Cordova, one of downtown Washington’s finest restaurants. But she liked the no pressure vibe of TikTok—just her and her food. She decided she wouldn’t show her face much, if at all. Letting the small flex of her muscles when she kneaded dough into a floured surface be the main visual. While comments? They were only half focused on what she was making.

Naturally, her account gained traction. No face, no voice—just hands, muscles, and literal food porn. Every video felt like a Sunday afternoon in a kitchen. @buffandbasil, now sat at 2.5 million followers.

Chef Abby! tried to ignore the thirst in her comments. How could she? It was honestly a small ego boost, even if it was a bit over the top at times. Like the second pinned video on the top of her page—where all she was doing was making bread.

@ : “knead ME like that.”

@ : “both lips are smiling rn”

@: “need her to bake something in me, respectfully😇“

@: “we need to chill in the comments… *saves video*”

Chef Abby! wasn’t a huge fan of putting her face in her videos. However, the occasional face slip would happen. A quick shot of her golden hair in view or a reflection in a clean pan.

The third and final pinned video? The one sitting at a few million views and a comment section that out-ratioed it?

Her hair draped over a fitted black Henley shirt, the top button undone. Sleeves rolled up to her elbows. And when she reached up for something overhead in a cabinet? A small sliver of her torso—those abs?

Yeah. They lost it.

And trust—Chef Abby! loved it. Really. Laying in bed, straight cackling on FaceTime with her best friend Manny, sending him screenshots or full-blown screen sharing. She didn’t reply. Not really. But she absolutely posted a few videos after. No shirt, just her “Kiss the Chef” apron and vibes.

And the one time she did reply?

@: “Do you do weddings?”

@buffandbasil :“Yes, actually.”

Harmless, right? Simple. Straightforward. She had catered weddings before. Large events, alongside her father, but—

@: “As… the bride?”

She saw it exactly three minutes after posting her reply. And in those three minutes, her comment had already tripled in likes. The replies? A war zone.

@ “ANSWER THE QUESTION!”

@ “HELLO???????”

@ “bro air balled.”

@ “ok so u free next saturday or???”

She paid it no mind. Mostly. But sometimes, a few profiles caught her attention. She was human, after all. Chef Abby! had seen your likes. You didn’t know it yet.

For you? It was originally just another cringe or brain rot video being sent by your roommate, Dina. But when you clicked the video of @buffandbasil all laughter halted. Typing back—

You: “Dee, hear me out..😭”

Dina: “Oh my god. OH MY GOD. Lost the plot.”

Chef Abby! considered reciprocating the engagement but saw how many views you usually received on GRWMs and storytimes and decided on a more… exciting approach. Wanting to see if you’d bite.

No aesthetic instrumentals—this time, a voiceover. Her voice, soft, steady Tutorial style.

“So today, we’re making sourdough from scratch. You wanna make sure your starter is active, and then we’re gonna knead it—”

@: “OH SHE TALKS???”

@: “it’s all over the screen ngl 🌊”

@: “asmr videos when?”

@: “great now i have a crush on a faceless chef, thanks.”

@: “I’m ovulating rn please chill 💔💔”

But the only comment she was looking for? Yours.

@ you: “Me next🫦!”

You typed it. And went to bed. She had so many comments—she probably wouldn’t even see it.

But as the sun poured through your curtains the next morning, your stomach flipped. A notification.

Legs swinging the blankets off, then you were sprinting down the hall, launching yourself onto Dina’s bed like a feral animal let loose.

She groaned, blindly swatting at you. “Dude, what the—”

Without another word, you shoved your phone in her face. Dina squinted, blinked a few times, then—loud, cackling.

“Dee. This isn’t a ‘hear me out’ anymore—this is a hold me back.” You said, falling next to her dramatically, smiling.

Dina wheezed, shaking her head. “Nah. You are in the sunken place now, sister.”

summary: Penelope drags Spencer to some fancy gala to cheer on her friend. He expects to be incredibly bored but finds himself extremely captivated by the night's performer.

Spencer finds himself at Garcia’s office – doing nothing, like it usually happens, he has finished his share of paperwork and doesn’t really have anything to do.

He’s slowly spinning around in a chair while Penelope talks on the phone, the soft hum of her many machines filling the space like background music. She sounds excited, he notices. Not her usual sunshine demeanor, even more, somehow. He doesn’t mean to eavesdrop, but her animation intrigues him so he stills the spinning to focus on her words.

“I’m so happy for you,” she says, her voice dripping with affection. “Oh this is so amazing”

The other person on the line says something that seems to prompt Penelope to firm her tone.

“No, no, it’s still important. It might open doors for the future.” As she says this, her head is shaking and her brows are lifted like the person on the other end could see.

“Yes, that’s the energy i want,” she adds the smile returning to her face “Oh and can i come?”

Spencer hears something like a chuckle through the phone and then a muffled reply

“Okay, amazing” Penelope says and at that moment she turns just to see Spencer and her face lights up instantly. “I am also bringing someone - some extra support”, she says and Spencer’s features twist in confusion because he knows the someone she is referring to is him.

Another chuckle and muffled reply.

“Shh, stop trying to downplay it” she says tenderly “Everyone starts somewhere. Love you, keep me updated. Byee”

“So where are you taking me?” He asks resigned knowing that arguing is not even on the table.

“We’re going to some fancy gala thing, rich people buying art and classical piano music in the background, my friend is going to be playing. I hope you have a good suit”

“You’re taking Reid instead of me?” Morgan exclaims, hand over his heart faking offence “Who will slow dance with you?”

“I don’t think you can slow dance to classical music babe” Penelope fires back

“Well it depends on the piece, if we’re talking Beethoven Symphony No. 5 probably not. But I can imagine something like Clair de Lune or Liebestraum” Spencer says.

Penelope shoots a look at him pretending she’s mad that he just discredited her response.

“It’s a fundraiser, nobody is going to be dancing” she tells them matter of factly

“Whatever,” Morgan beams “enjoy yourselves” he pats Spencer’s shoulder as he walks past.

Spencer didn’t actually agree to go, not that he had an option anyway. But two days later he finds himself in a rented suit, fixing his tie and hair on the backseat of a taxi, Garcia beside him with a perpetual smile framing her features.

“Looking good Spence” she says, glancing at him.

“Can’t believe you pressed me into doing this” he mutters

“Correction,” Penelope says holding up her index finger “I didn’t press you to do anything, I politely informed you of our plans for the weekend”

“Right,” Spencer shakes his head “and you also texted me suit options and a tie knot tutorial”

She grins proudly “And don’t you look amazing?”

Before he can respond, the cab pulls up to the venue, – a sprawling building through the windows he can see marble columns,  huge chandeliers cast a warm glow that spills to the street and an entry way that suggests everyone inside considers Versace casual.

He eyes the grand glass front doors warily. “So…what exactly is someone supposed to do at an event of this kind?” 

“Look put together, sip champagne, and smile” Penelope answers as she steps out of the car and smooths her dress. “Oh and clap, there’s a lot of clapping”

He goes to stand beside her with a sigh “Is this your idea of fun?”

She hooks her arm through his. “I’m here to support my friend, but watching you attempt small talk will be an enjoyable bonus”

He just makes a face which makes her laugh and they walk in.

Inside, everything is almost obnoxiously elegant. The sound of glasses clinking, heels clacking, hushed conversations, forced laughter and soft notes of a piano fill the atmosphere. Penelope scans the room, eyes searching for the source of the music. Once her gaze lands on an elevated platform, she smiles. 

A  baby grand piano sits on the centre of the stage and seated on its bench is a woman in a long black dress. Her hair tied low on the back of her head, and her eyes are closed as she plays, her head tilted slightly, fingers moving softly and confidently over the keys. It's as if the piano is an extension of her. Spencer is instantly mesmerized.

When the piece ends, the woman opens her eyes and leans forward  to reach and turn the sheet music. As she does, her eyes fall on Garcia and him. A smile appears on her lips mirroring Penelope’s expression. Garcia waves, the woman responds with a nod before going back to playing.

Spencer just stares at her, how she seems to be playing with her whole body, how her head lowers at low notes and rises at the higher ones, how she barely glances at the sheet music because she seems to know the notes by heart. Her fingers move in a cascade, fluidly – an arpeggio. Spencer knows how technically demanding they are – the wrist movements, finger gymnastics, the precision, the control – but she plays multiple of them in succession like it’s simple. Effortless. Natural. As if she’s doing something as plain as breathing.

Garcia is as captivated at her friend’s talent, she glances at Spencer after a member of the waitstaff dressed in black and white offers them glasses.

“She’s amazing” Penelope says quietly

“Very impressive yes” Spencer adds never taking his eyes off the pianist

When this piece ends, a man in a sharp emerald green suit steps onto the stage, smiling as she approaches the microphone “Ladies and gentlemen I am incredibly delighted by your presence tonight. The evening has begun on a splendid note, so, before we continue, let’s offer a warm hand to our performer”

The woman rises from the bench smoothly and applause echoes through the hall, she nods in acknowledgement then steps off the stage. She’s not even finished going down the small stairs when a small group approaches and praises her.

“You were divine” a woman with an intricate updo says “Absolutely breathtaking” the woman beside her adds. “I felt that in my soul, it was beautiful” an older man says after taking a sip from his champagne flute.

She thanks them politely with a tight smile and gracefully slips through the sea of tailored suits, and sparkling jewelry until she reaches Spencer and Penelope.

Garcia grins and pulls her into a side hug “Amazing, as always” says Garcia “I had almost forgotten how beautifully you play”

“Ah thank you so much Penny, and thank you for coming” She casts a glance at Spencer and adds “The both of you.”

“I’m sorry she dragged you here” she says with Garcia’s hand still around her.

“It was totally worth it, your performance was gorgeous” He says rushedly “I’m Spencer, nice to meet you” he adds not knowing what to do.

“ Nice to meet you, Penny talks about you and the team a lot” she answers with the smile on her lips never fading.

While the man on the stage goes on with his speech, Garcia and her friend fall into the rhythm of a conversation with Spencer occasionally commenting.

Eventually the man finishes his speech and the woman has to go again.

“That’s my cue,” she says taking the last bite from her tiny sandwich “Don’t go without me” she adds over her shoulder, already walking away.

She steps up the stairs and gives a small nod to the man now leaving the stage, he nods back and goes down leaving the stage for her again. Without missing another moment she resumes playing,  just as graceful, just as mesmerizing. Spencer finds himself simply watching again, the rest of the room melting aways with the gentle sounds

“Where does she usually play?” Spencer asks, voice low like he’s afraid of breaking the spell.

Penelope caught off guard, just blinks for a moment “At the little bar at 14th,” she replies then smiles “It’s very your vibe, I think you’ll like it”

“What makes you think I want to go?” he shoots back without missing a beat

She sips her drink, smug. “I know you do,” she says simply. “And because you haven’t blinked in two full minutes.”

He rolls his eyes, but the corner of his mouth twitches, and Penelope considers that a win.

Sirius Black x fem!reader ♡ 731 words

It’s embarrassing, how much time you spend in front of the mirror before Sirius arrives. You fix and fiddle until you’re nearly unrecognizable to yourself, until your face is a word you’ve said too many times and it’s lost all meaning. You started out with more eyeshadow than you have on now, then you’d wiped that off and tried out a lip technique you’d seen in a tutorial online. You’ve used one makeup wipe already, front and back and all folded up to get to the clean corners, and you’re honestly still not sure if what you’ve ended up with is decent or if you just can’t look at it properly anymore. You hope your dress is enough to distract Sirius if it’s horrid. 

You’re seriously considering wiping it all off and starting over again when the doorbell rings. Your heels click on the floor as you hurry to answer it. 

Sirius looks surprised when you open the door, as if he hadn’t expected to find you on the other side. “Hi,” he says. 

You smile anxiously. “Hi.” 

He’s wearing a suit, which you’d been expecting but bowls you over nonetheless. Sirius manages to make it look both formal and relaxed, his dark hair tucked behind his ear on one side and his jacket unbuttoned suavely. 

Remus claims it isn’t a big deal, this banquet his university is having, but it is. It is for Remus, because he’s receiving an award, but also (privately, selfishly) for you, because this is the first thing you’ve gone to with Sirius as his date. You’ve been on dates, and you’ve already met his friends, which he says was the important thing, but part of you is savoring the privilege of this. That he’d asked you to Remus’ event as his date. 

“Hi,” Sirius says again. He blinks at you, slow and hard. 

Shit. 

“It’s too much, right?” You take a step back from the door, hand itching for a makeup wipe. “I can take it off quickly, we’ll still have time to make it. I’ll do something simpler.” 

“No,” he says, “don’t change it, it’s…it’s nice.” 

You cringe at the hesitation in his tone. You catch your reflection in the mirror by the door, panicked and overdone, as you turn back towards the bathroom. “I promise it won’t take long. I don’t know what I was thinking, the lips are way too much.” 

Sirius’ fingers wrap harshly around your wrist, stopping you. “Don’t you fucking touch the lips,” he says. 

His eyes catch yours in the mirror. You’re frozen. Once it’s clear you’re not reaching for the wipe anymore, Sirius loosens his grip, fingers skimming up to your shoulder and toying absently with the strap of your dress. He looks almost caught in a daze. 

“Fuck.” He expels a breath. “I wish I could kiss you without fucking them up.” Your lips part in surprise, and Sirius closes his eyes like he can’t look at it. He compromises by dropping his lips to your shoulder. He kisses the bare skin reverently. “You look stunning.” 

Your heart hiccups. “Really?” 

You realize the second after you’ve asked that it sounds like you’re fishing for compliments, but Sirius doesn’t seem to care either way. He meets your gaze in the mirror again. 

“Very,” he says. His brows bunch as if in distress. “You’re killing me, gorgeous. I can’t decide whether to go to Remus’ thing and show you off or keep you here to myself.” 

You laugh. It dislodges some of your nerves. “We’re definitely going to Remus’ thing,” you say to him. “He’s winning an award.” 

“He’ll win other awards, won’t he? He’s brainy.” 

“I also didn’t get dressed up like this to stay in.” 

“Much sounder reasoning,” Sirius admits. He sighs dramatically. “Okay, but do me a favor and give me a smacker so those pretentious shits know we’re together, yeah?” 

You raise your eyebrows at him. “A smacker?” 

“A kiss, doll.” 

“I know what you mean,” you laugh. “You want me to get lipstick on your face right before this posh dinner?” 

“If it looks half as good on me as it does on you, sweetheart,” he gives a winsome crack of a smile, “no one will have a bad thing to say about it.” 

You decide it’s not worth arguing with him. Your dark lipstick looks very pretty on his cheek all evening.

THE WEBSERIES AFTER DREAM BBQ

While I don't think I'm making a breakthrough here, I wanna compile this info to be in one post. Dream BBQ introduced us to the concept of Doors, but they've been with us before.

As the game outright points at, Auction Day was most likely happening in a door. I'm not really sure what this means considering that this is a state we saw the Lonely Door in only when its world was slowly falling apart and 'dropping the facade' to reveal the truth (STRONGLY paraphrasing what the King on robotic legs says to you when you interact w/ him there). Maybe this is just what doors look like when they're about to close? Or maybe it WAS the Lonely Door. I don't know. Not the point of this post.

Then, Extinction Party also happens in a door. This is way clearer simply bcs of what the entrance to it looks like. The Extinction Party inside could maybe also be similar to the Purge Event maybe? (Although I didn't actually...have time to play that route yet. But the idea of "event inside a door that people wish to attend" still sticks)

Then Temptation Stairway is a bit more puzzling to me. After the final cutscene of Dream BBQ it's pretty clear that the Holy Code we see in the Great Runas's place is related to the doors, and the immediate thought is, TS was happening in a door as well — and it makes sense! It could even easily put The Great Runas as its genie! Rowan404 made a video on Youtube theorizing that the lady in the blue dress that Ena 'falls into' IS the Divine Door. This makes sense, especially after someone else replied to my concern of her not being fully blue with the fact that the door from the tutorial scene isn't fully blue, either. So all of that tracks. The only issue is that the Divine Door, in that case, seems like it has a much larger role than the other doors? Only appearing once in a while instead of always being available, people having to fight to try to get in, generally organizing this whole event outside of itself, parading this giant structure around. Also, having the Holy Code around even though it doesn't seem to be close to breaking. It feels like while in the case of the other doors, the Code is the hidden foundation of them, in the Divine Door it's intentionally showcased. So maybe the Divine Door is somehow "greater" than the others? But also, maybe not. Maybe something else is going on. I don't really want to add the idea of...set regions into the ENA lore, because it feels too abstract for that, but Froggy mentioned not knowing what Doors ARE, so maybe there are...some places in this abstract world where the doors aren't as frequently seen. Maybe the Divine Door is the only one around for some area, and that's why it's so cherished? Because it has no competition? This last part might make no sense because, again, we're trying to figure out the lore of a VERY abstract story. There's a thin line between reasonable theories and trying to add too much structure to this world that, at the end of the day, requires a lot of suspension of disbelief.

I'm not gonna lie, when I started posting I got, uh, a lot of responses like this to my art. About how I drew people "ugly" and frightening and even though it MOSTLY was meant as a compliment, it got kinda... Overwhelming 😅 It definitely led me to do a 180 for a while and re-access how I wanted to draw people. I love drawing flaws but I think that comes from not really seeing them as flaws, so the amount of folks AGGRESSIVELY harping on it did eventually get to me a little bit.

I think I've since found a pretty good balance between simple, pretty and "flawed" that I enjoy, though. So, thank you! I do take your message as a compliment and I'm glad you enjoy him.

DU drow was my first run! I have since played with a different character called Izzantar who was my first non-urge campaign though.

I was the one who recommended it to him and I really liked it! I've always DREAMED of a game that actually and unapologetically put you in the shoes of a shitty person and took you through the complex reasons why they are the way that they are without justifying their actions. And I adore the way the secondary character undeniably had a hand in the tragedy that unfolded despite his good intentions. The game sincerely explored the types of flawed characters I rarely ever see explored and I can only give it my sincerest kudos to it.

I've been considering playing Origins on stream after MANY recommendations, actually!

I would suggest examining and referencing off athletes and gymnasts videos for practice while trying to garner a more in-depth understanding of musculature by crossreferencing that stuff with dry, medical anatomy diagrams. I have a few more in-depth examples and advice in my #tutorial and #advice tags!

DU drow would really like Frida. Jarboe would constantly disappoint him by being the very dumb animal that she is.

I think Astarion would like both of them but complain endlessly about how much attention they demand and how up in his business they'd want to be - I have a feeling he likes street cats, which none of my cats are (Frida has a little street-smarts remaining but has been thoroughly spoiled by now. Jarboe was a hoarder cat before I adopted her and is extremely sociable and un-cat-like because of it.)

I DM'd a single Call of Cthulhu session in my teens and only recently participated in my first ever DnD game in a discord event! That's about it.

There are 12 sectors (zodiac sign + house) in astrology that reflect different aspects of your life. At this point, if you have planets in 12 houses, a planet being in that house as well as the rulers means you should have more focus in that area. For example, too many planets (2) in a tenth house with Venus aspects or rulers (Taurus and Libra) signifies that your career might be related to Venus qualities such as modeling, rebranding, or makeup (products, tutorials, etc.). Game concept:

a game where you need to save a bunch of humans (and yourself) from dying, except the humans are idiots and you're supposed to follow their orders, so you need to pretend to follow their orders while secretly saving them (and yourself). The main mechanic is hacking (moving through different systems, getting access to cameras/drones/bots and getting them to do things for you).

Fairly story driven, with levels going from tutorial where you learn hacking by hacking your governor module to mining accidents to alien remnants to escaping and hiding from everyone to learning about preservation from a documentary and going there on a convenient super intelligent spaceship from some university that is suspiciously familiar with the concept of rogue secunits and is somehow involved with how you hacked your govmod??

The whole game is events being thrown at you and you needing to use what you have to manage them with as few humans dying as possible. Additional challenge comes from human giving you stupid orders. Stealth would probably need to be a mechanic because your actions need to not be noticed by humans (and other SecUnits?). Additional goal is finding different types of media hidden across the levels. In the end Murderbot meets you and only likes you if you have the special episode of sanctuary moon that was considered lost media.

Basically all the overworld assets can be considered sprites, the ones that show up as talking heads during dialogue are portraits, and the major scenes like the intro, Loop's introduction, rock trap, bad touch, tutorial event, etc etc are CGs.

This isnt too big of a deal, but isat in general uses a lot more CGs and portraits then you'd see in rpgs (generally taking a lot of experience in ID5's previous work in visual novels), and I wanted to share the difference.

Below are some habits and rules to keep in mind throughout your studies and some tips that will elevate your learning experiences.

☆ Setting boundaries and learning to say no

It is always easy to say yes and join every social event that one is invited to, however its crucial to consider your own personal life and the consequences of your decisions. Hanging out with friends is a needed event as a social creature, however it's better to exercise caution and know when to say "no" to focus on your own goals and dreams. Don't get pulled into the pace of others and focus on finding a routine and schedule that works for your own benefit.

☆ Being comfortable with your own company

You will find in uni that there are lots of times that you will spend alone, and maybe feel a little anxious that you're the only person who isn't constantly in the company of someone everyday like you maybe were in high school. However, realise that even the time to yourself is a time of value, and treasure those moments to focus and work on your own goals. It is easier to get lost and lose sight of your ambitions when with others who don't have the same aspirations as yourself. Use your own time to sit down and work out what you want to achieve and quietly put in the effort to win.

☆ Never being scared to ask questions

It can be quite daunting to ask questions in lectures, so I prefer to ask my questions during times that aren't forced into a short time interval, such as tutorials, office hours, and other forms of learning support that your university/college provides. This way there is no rush to answer my questions and take my time in working through concepts and ideas. Ask questions based on your own conclusions, questions that challenge current rules and perspectives. Think deeper into your lessons and seek to make use of every bit of information.

☆ Being curious

This is very much related to the point above, that being that personal interest really aids with the brains memory retention. The more things you approach with an enthusiastic attitude, the easier it is for your brain to remember and categorise. Having curiosity, even if it is forced, gives a great advantage where you seek to interconnect the information you learn with other data, and grow more networks of neurons that allows your brain to stay healthy and active.

☆ Initiating contact

Struggling with a theory or assignment? Great, it shows that you are actively trying to understand a concept and working your brain muscles. Now the best way to comprehend or complete what you are struggling with is to access support materials. Still difficult? Reach out. Your teachers, professors, tutors are all there for your benefit. Use them intelligently and squeeze every drop of assistance and support from them while they are still available to you.

☆Watching educational content to aid your studies

You can never lose from learning a bit more every day. However make sure to fact check and find your information from trusted and quality sources. In general, it's always a win to be educated in various topics from health, sciences, arts, humanities and more to gain a better understanding of ourselves, our world, and humanity.

Signup Tutorial - Aufest 2025

This tutorial will walk you through the process of signing up for Aufest 2025, in preparation for signups opening at 0:00 EST on the 24th of May. Note that you cannot sign up when this tutorial is posted, or nominate tags— tag nomination starts at 0:00 EST on the 17th of May. You can, however, suggest freeform (trope and theme and au) tags— freeform tag suggestions are open until 23:59 on the 19th of May! Suggest freeform tags here!

If you've signed up for an Ao3 exchange before, the process is very similar, but there are some key differences for this event that we thought we'd mention.

First off, you decide whether you want to sign up in the all-ages or the 18-plus collection. If you sign up in the all-ages collection you can't post or prompt any e-rated work during the event, and you can't sign up for the 18-plus collection if you're under 18. Each collection will receive a slightly different list of tag goals to aim for during the event, so feel free to consider which tags you want to aim for before you decide! (Unless you are under 18. In which case you have the one option, shooing you to all ages.)

You pick which collection you want to sign up in, and you go to the sign-up button over on the left-hand side.

That will bring you to a page like this!

It looks like a daunting amount of information at first, but once you start filling it out, the logic starts to make sense. Let's start by filling out my emduo request, which will tell other people in the events what kind of gift would be good for me if they want to write me emduo!

So I selected every fandom that I wanted for these characters— you could split it up with each fandom in a separate request, but I intend to request a lot of different characters, so I'm saving space that way. I'm open to every type of gift, so I selected all of the gift types. I included the relationship types I'm open to for each server, with & meaning platonic and / being romantic. (You'll note that one of the tags has DFE on it— that's just a tag-management thing that mods have to do to keep tags from showing up in the wrong fandom! It stands for Disambiguated for Fandom Exchanges and when you see it on a tag you can just ignore it, it's extra letters added to a tag to make it unique so we can use it properly.)

Note that it's a good idea to make sure you're including every server version of a tag you're requesting, if you're requesting multiple servers, so people know for sure that you're okay with writing server-specific characters! You're only able to request tags that are in the tag set, so if you can't find the tag in the drop-down, you can go over to the nomination form and nominate more tags, as long as you're signing up before midnight EST on the 28th. After that point mods are in full game prep mode and can't process any more nominations, unfortunately.

For archive warnings I said that I'm okay with either no archive warnings apply or graphic depictions of violence— so people know that both of them are options— I could get either one, but I don't want major character death. And then in the prompts box I did some likes, I specifically mentioned AUs I like, I did some likes about this ship specifically, and I did a DNW list of things that I don't want in my gift. It's time for part two of a request— the additional tags!

So during the event each team will be trying to hit a total of 400 tags. I go through the list of tags and I decide which ones would be a good fit for a gift for me for this ship! And for that, I could just read the tag set (All ages here, 18-plus here) and copy it into a notepad, but I could also use the handy dandy tag selector spreadsheet that we have repurposed, originally made by firebird. It looks like this. (all ages here, 18 plus here.) [Note that this tutorial was made before freeform tags were selected for this event, so these are not the actual tags we're using, I did a random assortment from battleship last year for this tutorial.]

To use it you make a copy you can edit, and then you go down the list selecting every tag you think would be good for each request you're making. The individual columns are so that you don't necessarily have to untick 400 tick boxes every time you move on to a new ship and go through the whole list over again, you can just go down the list once and think "this tag would be great for desert duo and this will be great for cletho, and this one is for bedrock bros" all at once, sorting the tags into different column and thus different ships. I'm going to sweep through it and select the tags I think would be good for emduo, in column 1.

So as you can see, there's a lot of tags I think would be good for me. Selecting the tags mades them show up in a list over on the right— the first 20 tags go into the first box, and once I go over 20 the column turns blue just to tell me that I hit 20, and and then any extra tags go into the second box! All I have to do is copy and paste this list of tags into Ao3— the first box goes into "additional tags" and the overflow ones go into "optional tags".

Once I copy them into Ao3, my request looks like this!

You can only put 20 tags in the "additional tags" box, but you can go up to 380 in "optional tags" box! These tags are themes, tropes, and a whole list of AUs— I just did a couple here but in my real signup I might have selected a good hundred tags that I think would be good for me during the actual event, especially once I got to the AU part of the list. Feel free to select as many or as few tags as you want!

Now how this works during gameplay is that people don't have to hit all of those tags, they can just give me a gift that includes one of these tags that I listed. But they can also give me a gift that includes other tags I didn't select, if it works for the story! Like for example on the tag selecter page there was the tag "buttons". I didn't select it, but someone might use it in a gift for me, and gain that tag for their team! So as a result, this really means that when you go through the list of tags, it's a very good idea to make sure that if there are any tags you Do Not want, you added them to your DNW so someone doesn't add it in. I just added "stabbing" to mine, just to be sure— I don't want someone to try and hit that tag in a gift for me.

Note that if you're signing up in the 18-plus collection, there is an additional tick box, which looks like this.

This turns on or off e-rated for each request. Explicit is e-rated fic (both gore and NSFW), and and general is everything else! If you are okay with just one, you only select one, and if you are okay with both, you select both. If you are selecting Explicit, it's a good idea to have an additional NSFW likes and NSFW DNW list, cause there are some very varied smut topics in the 18-plus tag list, and there's bound to be at least one thing that you absolutely do not want— and some things you do! So make sure you specify.

One last thing— you'll notice that there's an off-site letter box (optional). That's because the Ao3 box is only 5000 characters, so maybe you have a lot of likes or prompts, or your DNW is very detailed, and you go over that! I didn't need it with this signup, but maybe I went REALLY into detail about scarian— in that case you can host your likes and prompts and rambling about the characters on a letter like a google doc or a tumblr post or a dream width post, and just put the link there! You still have to keep your DNW in the AO3 box, because it needs to be a format that locks and is un-editable after signups close, for modding purposes, but feel free to go into GREAT detail in a letter if you want.

That's my first request, I need three requests for a valid signup, so let's go on to another ship. You know the theory, I just do the same thing over again, but specifically with the tags and mediums that I think would make a good gift for me with this ship in mind.

On QSMP, let's look at codebreakers and etoiles/phil/missa!

So for this one I don't want podfic, and I went through that tag selector list and made a slightly different list of tags! I'm keeping my DNW the same and my general likes list is the same, so I can just copy-paste that down from the first one. Once again, i'm okay with either no archive warnings or graphic depictions of violence, and I gave people a little list of likes to jump off of but I mostly wanted to keep things wide open. You can offer specific prompts if you want, or just a list of likes, or even just a DNW and the list of additional/optional tags that you think would be good for you! Whatever makes sense for you to describe what sort of things would be a good gift for you.

Let's go on to my next request!

And I wanted to make sure I did at least one solo request! These are especially good for artists to use, or people doing shorter works, so I wanted to make sure I requested solo tags as well as relationship tags! The vibes are a bit different because I was thinking of single-character focused work when I was selecting tags. And same as before, I did a list of likes, I did a DNW, and I did a little portion to talk specifically about this character. Because it's a solo request, I mentioned other characters I normally like to see with this character, (because it's often hard to write a fic only about one character), but the focus of a gift given for this request should be just the single character, so I tried to keep that in mind with my character likes.

And there you have it— three requests is a valid signup! I could keep on going and add another request— up to ten requests are allowed in a basic signup.

I can even go beyond that and go into the prompt collection (all ages here, 18 plus here) and add up to 50 more requests there! The prompt collection doesn't close during the event, even, so if we're halfway through gameplay and I go "I forgot to add baghera I need to add baghera immediately", I can go to the prompt collection and add a request for her, as long as she's in the tag set!

So we're all set to go, right? Wait— almost. First off— there is no matching in this exchange, so you don't have to fill out offers. You'll pick for yourself which requests you want to fill, during gameplay— you'll get to look at everyone's requests like the ones you just did, and pick out relationships and tags that look fun for you to make something based on. However, we have to put something in the Ao3 box in the offers section or the signup machine snarls up and doesn't know what to do. I put some kamoji.

And THEN we can hit the submit button.

And now you are signed up on Ao3! You can go back in and edit your signup any time before signups close at midnight EST on the 30th of May, so feel free to tweak your DNW and likes, or add more requests!

And then did you see that instructions text above the text box? There is one more thing.

Mods need to know a little bit more about you to place you properly on a team! What sort of fan work you make, if you make long or short works, how competitive you want to play— this lets us make sure we have balanced teams, as much as possible.

We'd ideally like a variety of activities and HFTH characters/groups/locations/themes to be referenced in this activity book.

In the event that multiple replies ask to make the same type of activity, or an activity themed around the same character, then only one or two might be considered at random as we don't want the activity book to be a dozen Mort themed word searches.

We'd like it if you could provide as many ideas to give the activity book a variety of puzzles, Hallowoods themes, and unique sections. That way we can switch to your second/third/fourth idea as backup should your first be frequently suggested.
