i read somewhere on pinterest that this girl set an alarm and labelled it with a shooting star- 💫 - and when it went off she'd make a wish
"you get to make your own magic and believe in it"
that was the cutest thing ever honestly and i'm gonna start doing this!

#umineko#umineko spoilers#ikuko hachijo#ikukos turn for a more serious piece... the old man has reigned for too long#now. INCREDIBLY LONG INCOHERENT TAGS RANT INCOMING FAIR WARNING HAS BEEN GIVEN:#it makes me so so sad how little discussion there is about specifically ikuko because imho she fits so neatly into a lot of the more#overarching Big Themes of the game in a way that i have not ever really seen people take notice of or point out in a meaningful way#like even just off of the top of my head. the significance of names and what it means to go by a name that's Not Yours (she has like 4+)#what it Means to be a witch how it represents a person's deepest insecurities and flaws & how its at its core a coping mechanism#the fact that it takes two to create a universe and trying to do it on your own anyways has the capacity to bring you intense misery#^ (how she's shown to be extremely dismissive of her own work and skill until a collaborator comes into her life and helps/encourages her)#and even the family/patriarchy/misogyny stuff that is so prevalent in the rest of the game comes back around to her. even her Only Friend#(young&stupid atp to be fair) remarks that shes Weird for being unmarried + the little she does say about her past invites the question of#to what extent her self-image stems from her family deeming her a freak outcast & effectively disowning her while celebrating her brothers#and i have lot in my mind about the witch thing specifically because i think her particular situation is very reflective of what umineko's#entire magic system and fantasy facet as a whole is meant to represent for an individual. from what little we see of (what is presumably)#her Real personality she is shown to be deeply self conscious in a way that is JARRINGLY diametrically opposed to both 1.) what we see in#featherine and 2.) what we see when she is acting as a Public Figure. because both of the above are very much purposeful acts that she is#putting on in order to obfuscate her true self. and i have always been very resolute & adamant about not totally equating her to featherine#not only because im very firmly in the camp of “featherine is the avatar of the Pen Name & tohya is part of her too” but also very much b/c#i feel very strongly that the stark differences between the two are very centrally relevant to her character & her psyche. as is the case#with most other witches featherine's personality traits serve to reveal/magnify a lot of ikukos inner workings by playing on her#insecurities/reversing them e.g. ikuko being very quick to downplay her skill/achievements becomes featherine being the COMPLETE opposite#to the point where she barely registers even other witches as living beings rather than just fun touys. BUT even though i do champion the#ikuko/featherine separation so hard i ALSO think it is purposefully relevant that at first glance the line between them seems so blurry#her introduction implying a more nebulous separation between her reality/fantasy counterpart is i think is an intentional move on her part#like it is part of the front she is putting up when acting as the Author. as opposed to Ikuko the person who we (in a way ironically very#similar to the way that the Real Battler is presumably only shown during the boatscene) only very briefly get to see take up screentime#which even on a meta level lines up very well with her apparent underlying nature as a like. extremely private largely reserved/shy person#hit tag limit but if by some miracle anyone is still reading this thank you... please see ikuko with the love she deserves... ok ily byeee

Do fairies get married like humans do in this au, mainly asking cause a wanna know how the Cosmo/Wanda proposal went (if there even was one)
Tumblr media
They get married the way Fairies do!! By becoming a bonded pair!!
Bonded Fairies are magically connected! Magic and food is shared between them and they can feel the distance between each other when apart! Bonded Fairies share half their soul with the other.
Bonding can be used for a multitude of reasons beyond romantics, such as platonic or medical. So long as two (or more!) fairies trust and love each other in a mutual form, it can be invoked. The longer the bond lasts, the more connected the fairies become!

it's very funny to me that tumblr of all places has so much heat for the worst aspects of k tanaka's character beats considering that they started out as nearly a direct parody of the tumblr sjw. and as much as i love evan, i can't help but see the irony as well that brennan created a character who, in universe, is the object of a lot of misplaced adoration, specifically referencing kylo ren who had this website in a chokehold, only for evan to become one of tumblr's sad boys even when k has apparently addressed this and grown past it. there's lots of other things that k has not dealt with that we can talk about, but ALSO maybe it would be a good idea to turn a lens on evan considering that the archetype of someone resisting violent conditioning is something else that popped up in this episode that is extremely fucking pertinent irl right now. i've called it 'magical' nationalism before because the allegory is white supremacy and imperialism, right? if we had gotten the shit with the militia in iowa in mismag 1 it would be even more evident. even if evan himself is struggling with something that displays similarities with psychosis or autism, it's not a one-to-one parallel. there is crucial context being overlooked in favor of woobifying him and that's just... chef's kiss. gods bless.

Look Kristen is a kid so its understandable and Ally is great and I'm sure has a plan for this. But Kristen should not be a cleric lol. I hope that after the wizard synogue incident Cassandra takes the Archfey deal to keep herself safe and Kristen loses her powers because honestly based on her RP that girl has NO wisdom. She has NEGATIVE wisdom. If you don't like the gods currently on offer but can't take responsibility for keeping a new one alive (because you're a kid) then you should just respec. Pick a charisma-based spellcaster class that doesn't require a bunch of work like the Int classes or responsibility like the Wis classes. Give up your soul to Fig (or just give it back to newly-Archfey Cassandra) for Warlock spells idk.

was thinking more about youkai-ification while in the shower, and you know what's the best part of it, IMO?
not realizing it's happening.
it starts off with small subtle personality changes, which could be noticeable to any of your friends, but to you? it's so slow that for you it's just your new normal. you've always been like this, right?
you don't notice that anything is different until one day when you look in the mirror and realize that your eyes haven't always been red.
Tumblr media
what else might have changed? can you even tell?

I dunno if this has been asked before but Where the heck did Wukong's children come from?
In my AU, Yuebei Xing, Luohou, and Jidu were born from a lunar meteorite that fell on Flower Fruit Mountain. They're triplets but Luohou and Jidu were born after their sister due to certain circumstances.
Sun Wukong found the meteorite a few days after returning from his years of wandering to find Subodhi and become his disciple. A period during which he had wondered if there were other stone monkeys like him somewhere.
When he found the lunar meteorite, he thought it was beautiful and as an artist, he felt the urge to create something from it. That’s when he wondered if it was possible for a monkey to be born from this like him. So, he created an egg with the lunar meteorite and nourished it with his power/energy/magic (and sometime other things like his blood).
Nothing really happened and he wasn’t really convinced that a cub would emerge from the egg but he had became attached to the egg and his imaginary cub so he continued to nourish it. (He was kinda convinced that a cub might emerge from the egg.)
During JTTW, when he returned to FFM after being exiled due to the LBD, he found the egg and out of habit, nourished it with his magic. Then, POOF ! Yuebei Xing was born.
Paramita was born centuries after his siblings from a rock from the Flaming Mountains in the same way.
So basically : they come from SWK being delulu and fortunately for him delulu is the solulu.

So based on what I've read so far for primers on chaos magic, I recommend starting with Condensed Chaos: An Introduction To Chaos Magic by Phil Hine, THEN getting the updated and revised and expanded editions of Liber Null and Psychonaut and also Liber Kaos by Peter J Carroll.
Caveats for Condensed Chaos:
misuse of "shaman" and similar terms (none of what is brought up relates to Tungusic peoples)
written by a neurotypical white English bisexual cisgender man, and boy howdy is the neurotypical part obvious in several areas
inconsistent capitalization for concepts, and also inconsistent comma usage
definitely a product of its time and not decolonized, which is a larger problem in chaos magic as a whole
Recommended Audience for Condensed Chaos:
pop culture mages/pagans
those interested in servitors, sigils, or chaos magic more broadly
technology mages
those who want to explore Jungian psychology in magic
As for Peter J Carroll's works... Basically the same as the above, yet also way more difficult to read if you're not used to old grimoire-esque language and writing styles.
I'd still genuinely recommend all three of these, just with the reminder to raise an eyebrow at some of the claims made.
The books I still have to read on chaos magic that I currently own are Hands-On Chaos Magic: Reality Manipulation Through The Ovayki Current by Andrieh Vitimus; Creating Magickal Entities: A Complete Guide to Entity Creation by David Michael Cunningham, Taylor Ellwood, and T Amanda R Wagener; and Magickal Servitors: Create Your Own Spirits To Attract Pleasure, Power and Prosperity by Damon Brand.
Plenty of reading left for me to do on this subject.

Obsessed with the dynamic (not romantic, not platonic, but a secret third thing--both and yet neither) between two characters who knew and cared about each deeply years ago when they were both younger and life was much less complicated.
But then, tragic, transformative circumstances separated them. Assuming that this separation was certainly permanent, because how could it not be?
And yet, somehow finding each other again years later, and sometimes they aren't sure whether the reunion that they once longed for with every fiber of their beings is a blessing, a curse, a joke, or a punishment.
Because they've both changed in the intervening years--largely because of the hellish circumstances that caused their separation. They've both changed completely and irrevocably, even if one of them has changed much more noticeably and dramatically than the other to the point of seeming a complete stranger. It is about leaning to see and appreciate all the things that have changed about the other and all the things that have not changed. It's about learning to reconcile beloved, often rose-tinted memories with the complex, yet-equally-compelling reality of the person those memories are about.
#it's the very particular sensation of loving someone who is both recognizably your beloved childhood partner-in-mischief#while also being someone so different (physically; mentally; and/or emotionally) that you can scarcely see their past self in them#and knowing the feeling is mutual#and also knowing that the only person who can truly understand the full extent of the change in you is each other#because their transformation is linked to your own#forged in and through the unique experiences that you shared and the way you were separated#it's the idealized adoration of youthful playmates/pseudo-siblings#transforming into a very different but no less powerful connection in adulthood#that's what really gets me#it's just#*chefs kiss*#estabalena#nahyupollo#jaydick#anyway this post is specifically about estabalena and jaydick#and to a lesser extent apollo/nahyuta#but it doesn't really matter if people tag and respond with other ships#even the narumitsus provided they recognize that not every post was made for them#it goes double for jaydick and estabalena tho since they each have two (2) shared formative and transformative experiences#that few (if any) others can possibly understand#for estabalena; it's the 41 years of suffering in the dark times and the crystal well magic flowing through ones veins#for jaydick; it's the experience of being "Robin' and feeling that the role and all it means was ripped from you too soon#and then it's the experience of dying and your family failing to welcome you back with open arms#because you didn't come back 'right' or quick enough#and that you 'chose' to stay away rather than circumstances forcing the issue#apollo/nahyuta also has the jaydick parallels in terms of bruce and dhurke#it's recognizing that your very human shared father figure failed you in many ways#even as he simultaneously saved you in others#he made you both the best version of yourself while also creating or enabling all of your worst tendencies#just

A fun fact about Tam: she's lost her parents.
But not in a 'they're dead' way.
More in a 'misplaced them and has spent the last ten years trying to find them again' way.

Not that there's no issues with how Sailor Neptune and Uranus are written bc there are, yet their ruthlessness in the S arc is less about how they're mean as individual people (which.....fair they kinda are but that's besides this point) but rather a conflicting ideology between the inner senshi who value all life and each individual person, vs Uranus/Neptune who're about the greater good. S is about 'would you sacrifice one life to save the world' where the inner senshi is a resounding 'no absolutely not' and Uranus/Neptune is 'yes. without question'
This.....probably runs into some problems in an anime where the answer is The Power of Love and the third solution of 'love' exists, it makes them come off as antagonistic for no reason when Sailor Moon's whole thing 'I can solve this with love and understanding, always + I can reset the world' buuuuut UraNep aren't completely wrong in the end of S if Sailor Moon's powers aren't a given — the result of sparing Hotaru is shown and said result is the whole city died, and they only undied bc of Sailor Moon's reset
Anyway huge misconception to say that UraNep only cares about each other — though given how they're only nice to each other and mean to the inner senshi it's a fair assumption, but no they're just on the extreme side of The Greater Good, The Mission. Yes they're willing to kill innocent people to get the talismans, but those 'innocent people' included themselves given that Uranus' response to seeing Neptune holding a talisman is to shoot herself too (was there an element of 'don't leave me alone in this world' involved? Yeah. But she also had a whole speech about how it turned out they in fact held the talisman + the prior episodes 'The Mission' talk so). In fact, in their eyes they're not 'innocent' at all, that very episode contains the famous hands scene where Haruka worries her hands are solied by the mission, she doesn't like that she has to kill innocents even if it is for The World. And the two also already had an ideological discussion in the backstory episode of Haruka going 'so you don't care how many innocent people die in the process of defeating the enemy?' Michiru 'That's right. I don't' then admitting actually it haunts her deeply and the fact that Haruka is now gonna be a casualty hurts even more but she has to put it aside for the greater good of saving the rest of the world. Her dreams of becoming a violinist or wishes of Haruka not following her path don't matter when the fate of the world is on the line. UraNep will sacrifice themselves/those closest to them for the greater good of the world, not the other way around
(And yeah yeah there's that scene where some posessed guy claims that a certain container contains the soul of evil and smashing it will doom the world and when he questions why Michiru did it to save Haruka she responds with 'Don't you know? A world without Haruka isn't worth living in' but that's a joke! A bluff! She knew the guy was lying about the evil in the jar bc she tells Haruka right after not to be fooled and what the actual source of the posession is.)
#every so often I go on a brief s a ilor moo n intermission just to talk about The Lesbians#guess i should disclaimer this with the fact I never actually watched the first second or fourth seasons of sail or moon and only#kinda know what happened via fandom osmosis but. what I did watch instead is rev girl utena#heck sailor moon season 3 is quite totally different to sailor moon season 5 even#but yeah sailor mo on S def fits the ikuhara tone of considering people and society and ideologies. no wonder he made his own shows instead#also the fact he kept trying to kill tuxedo mask. S is my favourite season for its ideas but I think only bc of how un-sai lor moon it is#in that it goes 'magical girls saving the world via love? are we sure that's always enough? what if that fails?'#and hence he created rgu which is 'the disillusionment of believing love is enough without understanding the surrounding society: the show'#actually disclaimer that I don't remember too much of sailor moon stars either. But I do remember the mirror enemies arc and the general en#and both of them were very much working together + power of love and reaching out and understanding#especially evident with the fact that UraNep stopped being antagonistic and instead were presented as encouragement to the inners#alternatively I am very obsessed with The Lesbians specifically. Them and Them Only#(though it will never not be funny to me that Pluto stole a baby + the fact hotaru was taken from her dad is never remarked on again)#(how would you bring that up anyway 'so your child I stole? she magically aged to 12 within a week don't worry about it she's ours now')#sm talk

still not over smeyer adding imprinting to twilight
the way it cheapens the narrative and serves no purpose other than for smeyer to tie Jacobs story in a neat and complete box
it absolutely negates and spits on the pain and character development Jacob was going through in eclipse and breaking dawn

I’m obsessed with the idea of a Dark Urge with the divine soul sorcerer subclass.
I know it’s like the cleric-flavored version of a sorcerer, but I would love it for story reasons. You could really lean into the whole child of divinity thing.
With a sorcerer in general, your magic is just an instinctive, intrinsic part of you. With the divine soul subclass, you would have that added level of having evil divine magic right from Bhaal himself (inflict wounds) and be shown to be his favored child with the Favored by the Gods” feature. It would add another level of deliciousness to your Dark Urge’s relationship with Orin by showing that YOU were clearly dad’s golden child.
From a role play standpoint, it would be fun for evil Dark Urges to lean into and fascinating for good ones to contend with.

I like this fan fic, but one of the plot points is "causing an eco-disaster on one planet to fix the eco-disaster on another." That is, this is a fan fic where the clones were able to over-ride order 66 and took back mandalore, which they are trying to terraform...by dumping water on it, which in turn is being taken from Kamino, which they've conquered. No word on if they xenocided the Kaminoans. This is the SECOND Star Wars fic where they did "take water from different planet and put it on a different planet!" (I am told they might have lifted the idea from Captain Marvel.)
