problem i have with trans people is gatekeeping . like the whole kalvin garrah bullshit we went through back in the day of like "youre not passing" and that nonbinary people were wasting healthcare or something . i think the analogy i have in my head for it is,
if we try to purify the world of "bad" (fakers / "trenders" in this case) then sure people in theory would get rid of a lot of them or even all of the bad. you surround yourself with the "good" people. but then surrounded by good people and only good people, you then start to pick up on small very minor "bad" things, and then cast them out too
like even the truest of true stealth trans person will still enjoy something from the "other gender", that's just a human standard. interests clothes whatever aren't gendered so passing 100% is impossible unless you are already cis. because are you bad for being full stealth trans dude but still knowing how to do someone else's makeup or like a trans woman still having an interest in the sport she used to play??? <- to give a stereotypical example but you get the gist
even trying to pass to some degree is nice yes but its not a good idea to force yourself to pass just to be checkmarked as "good trans". instead its best to just do what you want to do , socially physically whatever , and whoever WANTS to fuck with hormones and surgery - let them. that's their choice. we're all like "Break the gender binary" but we are reinforcing it in our own fucked up evil way.
nonbinary people are just seen as like a "pick a side" when nonbinary people are their own fucking thing it's not a 3rd gender it's something else!! and whatever the fuck that might be as crazy or unbelievable or "unrealistic" or "humiliating" it is for your dumbass, why not instead of shaming people for wanting to be happy and sucking up to the cis people you be "obnoxious" and "annoying" too. we don't live in the cis world anymore besties

really hate to be that guy but yeah trans mascs have to kind of soften themselves quite a bit even within their own circles because being “masculine” is seen as threatening i feel which. Cis men are threatening yes but because theyre consciously threatening, they use their biological cis male privilege to get away with it because of the patriarchal system also.
being masculine is not a bad thing though it just means being masculine. it doesn’t come attached with being an asshole or a threat unless you make yourself a problem which most (but not all) do.
the bit about “men yucky” is also where a lot of problems arise because there are people within the lgbt community that shun (kind) cis males and transmascs/butches for being “men” / mascs when theyre just as queer as everyone else. feminism and queerness is about equality and accessibility for everyone
Tumblr media
My sister in Christ trans men are constantly infantilized and forcibly feminized and being masculine is punished by our peers because inside queer spaces it’s always ‘men yucky’ or ‘men evil’ like friendly reminder that not all masculinity is praised and not all femininity is punished
Most trans people were forced into a role they didnt want. Forcemasc is directed to transmascs and butches, not trans women. Same way around with forcefem.

the whole "HRT HAS POSSIBLE NEGATIVE SIDE EFFECTS SO IT SHOULD BE BANNED FOREVER!!!!" argument is so interesting because how far would that go? where does it stop? birth control is shown to have side effects that harm people that use it. should we ban birth control? for the sake of keeping people safe? anti depressants can mess with other mental functions. should we ban anti depressants? hell, painkillers can attack your liver. should we ban painkillers then? for the sake of safety? so we can stop people from "ruining" their bodies, no matter what the person that lives in that body says?

Trans people of all stripes, when you write your insane discourse, why do you have a need to shorten phrases so much?
"It specifically refers to tendencies among tme trans people to use their agab as a shorthand for their precieved innocence mostly to the detriment of transfems and themselves, as the comic illustrates."
Why couldn't this be:
It specifically refers to tendencies among transmisogyny exempt trans people to use their assigned gender at birth as a shorthand for their precieved innocence mostly to the detriment of transfems and themselves, as the comic illustrates.
Tumblr character limits are fairly large, this isn't Twitter, what the hell are you doing with all that time you're saving anyway?
Not to mention the, frankly befuddling, trend of these acronyms getting completely detached from their actual meanings and being used nonsensically.
For example, I have on several occasions seen the acronym 'TERF' being used for random transphobia that has nothing to do with 'Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminism' which is what that acronym is supposed to mean.
I understand that writing a four word phrase every time can be annoying, but if it prevents nonsense takes, why not do it?
This is, I think, a problem with acronyms in general. I mean:
"poc artist"
Person of color artist? What?? Obviously we should just say 'artist of color' yet the obsession with acronyms (like we're sending SMS messages or something) seems to persist.

so like. just in case people didn’t realize.
just because someone is a bad person, doesn’t mean you can misgender them.
seriously. this normalizes misgendering, and starts a very slippery slope from “i’m trans and this awful person who has done terrible things does not deserve my respect [which is sometimes true!!] so i’m going to misgender them” to “ im a cis person who has seen trans people misgender this person, so it’s okay for me to misgender this person” to “i see cis people misgendering this person and no trans people are getting upset, ig they don’t care about being misgendered, and misgendering people is fine.”
it doesn’t matter what they’ve done. i’ve never seen someone use she/her for a cis guy who has down the same stuff that they misgender trans people for. don’t do this.
very important addition:

followup to my other post but is it just me or is the whole “men/masc not allowed” thing in the lgbt community also branching into non-men/mascs.
like listen to me. amab nonbinary people are never given the time of day and people say they barely exist and when they do exist people are skeptical because they believe its just some cis guy making fun of the nb identity.
trans women / transfemmes who don’t voice train or who arent full stealth are instantly shut down or seen as fetishists a lot more often than the ones who are full passing or stealth, or seen as a threat or a predator.
and anyways about actual men or non/mascs it just pisses me off that again people must be feminine in order to be accepted as a non-violation. the whole “girl and her twink” think has become so overdone its actually kind of gross?
being masculine isn’t a fucking crime dude idk . pls tell me what u think bc this feels like smth im just now realizing.

People who exclusively use the terms transfem(me)/transmascs as synonyms to trans woman / trans man with complete exclusion of transfem(me)s & transmascs who are not vs people who say that including trans women&men into the transfem(me)&transmasc categories is degendering: fight
P.S. I think the former ones are infinitely more harmful
Edit: Ah wait how could I forget the people who think transfem(me)/transmasc means presentation and including trans women&men into those categories is saying all trans women are feminine and all trans men are masculine. And, off the original point but adjacent to this one, those who think that the phrase "there are trans people who are not transmasc or transfem(me)" is about transmasc/transfem(me) being about presentation and this phrase is saying that non-masc transmascs and non-fem transfem(me)s are not transmascs/transfem(me), and trans people who are neither don't exist. Rather it being *about that*.

because i think this deserves it's own post: ive seen the rhetoric that because marsha never outright referred to herself as a trans woman (that i know of), lots of cis people tend to try to erase her identity or at least make it seem like she was a cis gay man, which if you've read anything about her at all you know she wasn't.
while labels do change and i cant find any record of marsha outright saying "I AM A TRANS WOMAN", she did refer to herself as a woman quite often like, for example, on rapping with a street revolutionary: an interview with marsha p. johnson when she literally straight up says "Lots of times they tell me, “You’re not a woman!” I say, “I don’t know what I am if I’m not a woman." (actual quote copy pasted DIRECTLY from the s.t.a.r. survival, revolt and queer antagonist book). can we say for sure that if marsha was alive to this day she'd identify as a trans woman? no. can we make a pretty fair assumption, considering she's definitely not cis and tended to call herself a woman? i think so.
and either way, even if she's not a trans woman, again, she is definitely not cis. she reportedly desired gender reaffirming surgery, back then more commonly referred to as sex change surgery. she presented femininely. she used exclusively she/her pronouns. she called herself a woman. she used feminine terms to refer to herself. if she was or wasn't a binary trans woman is pretty much meaningless at this point - marsha was absolutely trans, and so was sylvia rivera, and saying otherwise is just trans erasure, plain and simple.
don't pretend that trans people that are important to queer history are actually cis. there are cis people important to queer history. focus on them if you want. leave marsha and sylvia alone and respect their memory by respecting their identity.
⚠do not pretend ex cop fred sargeant is a reliable source on my post or i will lose my shit⚠️

I genuinely don't care if people still want to participate in Harry Potter content. But if you try to tell me that Rowling said nothing wrong, your ass is getting blocked and reported. It takes all of two brain cells to recognize what a bigoted piece of shit she is. And if you have the fucking GALL to support Rowling while calling yourself a Hufflepuff? You are a disgrace to your house. Hufflepuffs would never support that bitch.

Ik this is like a very hot take and unpopular opinion but I lowkey have never found a gay ship done by 2 straight men good 😭 they just think being gay is the funniest thing in the world and tbh I'm tired of them profiting off of the queer community while never raising awareness/talking about many of the important issues for queer people. They'll make gay jokes with their straight friends in Minecraft but not talk about the fact millions of queer people are losing their rights all over the world 🤷‍♀️

A lot of white people who defends tme terminology does not understand the experiences of afab black people with forced degendering (NOT JUST MASCULINIZATION) and this shows in their speeches. Like, womanhood has always been denied to me. As with many other black people (and other poc people). When we complain about the fact that womanhood is constantly denied and taken away from us, we are not just talking about masculinization. And we also don't want to say that transmisogyny is about masculinity either. But it's convenient to make it all about "oh so you're saying cis masculine women suffer from transmisogyny". FUCK. We're saying this fucking terminology erases people's experiences and it is completely arbitrary. No experience is exclusive to a single group, and this basis for deciding who is more privileged or not is useless, and also incredibly harmful.

it's like. there's always people who have everything handed to them on silver damn platters where every piece of media is about them and every cultural norm caters to them in one identity or another. straight people, white people, cis people, thin people, feminine cis women, masculine cis men, etc.
and the Second anyone outside of those groups in one way or another either a) asks for more things to reflect their experience or b) complains about the cultural insistence on these "norms"
they see it as a threat and react like someone just shot their dog. they see representation granted to anyone else or anyone merely talking about the harms these "norms" have as someone yanking away THEIR representation/cultural normalcy
like... yeah it sucks doesn't it? now imagine that on a societal and global scale. cope 💖

Okay, so just so you know, Disney pulled this shit. Again.
I want to discuss something important because I've had enough.
I still cannot believe that people are pretending Disney is progressive. They have constantly put the LGBT on the chopping block and everyone is ALWAYS shocked. They are not our allies. They only want us around when it makes them look good.
We should really start boycotting them. According to some reports, Disney has deliberately sent money to senators to vote against our rights. Why the FUCK should we be supporting them?
If you can't do it for the LGBT, do it for the funds they sent to Israel and enabling the genocide, do it for the staff that's constantly abused by them, or even do it for the fact they keep making garbage material.

i would never @ my beloved vlogbrothers about this bc that would just be drama bait. with that in mind:
i was reminiscing about my history as a nerdfighter (The community / fandom centred around the Green brothers as artists, educators, personalities, & role models) and got one of Hank Green[ and The Perfect Strangers]'s old Harry Potter songs stuck in my head - by virtue of just remembering it exists - and just kinda being grimly amused by such an earnest and loving song dedicated to an artist who is just a known massive piece of shit at this point.
and also just being amused and disappointed in the naivete of both 12 y/o me and uh *checks notes* 34 y/o Hank in thinking this billionaire-brit must be pretty cool and decent bc she's a philanthropist who owns an IP we like. The best parts of her work (and based on the critical love they give their own online community I think the Green Bro's know this) were the bits that had nothing to do with her. at the far end of "not canon" is not-for-profit fandom stuff that's talked about between a small group of friends. but there are also just so many people who made HP more than just one shitty white cishets work. Every director, concept artist, editor, actor - as well as otherwise BtS workers like VFX artists, caterers, and custodial staff - added to this work. And it's sad how deeply it's all been stained by her bigotry and ignorance.
I do ultimately think it's Not Good™ to buy and promote any of her work but in this small semi-private space I just wanted to talk about my ✨feelings✨

@avewy got banned for having her dick out (search her url there are screenshots) and her friends are into rape, especially @unending-sorceress he's an abuser and a racist that defends pedos
So I looked into this bc it seemed sketch & random and it turns out there’s a copypasta hate campaign against @avewy and people are sending out asks like this to random people hoping they’ll repost them without actually checking facts
I am still not informed enough on this subject to comfortably explain the situation, I feel like there are a bunch of posts on here that could easily do so better than me
But given that I received one of these asks I wanted to encourage anybody else that didn’t know about the hate campaign to do their own research and not spread misinformation bc that’s what campaigns like this rely on
