Criminal Veteran/Ex Criminal Background
You were an experienced criminal with a history of breaking the law. You have spent a lot of time among other criminals and still have some contacts within the criminal underworld. You're far closer than most people to the world of murder, theft, and violence that pervades the underbelly of civilization, and you have survived up to this point by flouting the rules and regulations of society.  Now that you’re free, you're looking for something else, perhaps trying to change yourself for the better. For whatever reason, you're leaving behind the life of crime, but your skills are undeniably suited for the role you need to play to get to that life of peace.

Skill Proficiencies: Deception, Persuasion Tool Proficiencies: One type of gaming set, thieves’ tools Languages: None Equipment: traveler's clothes including a hood, a gaming set of your choice, and a pouch containing 20 gp
Criminal Life
You know Criminal life as only someone who has experienced it can. You are able to identify criminals, and you know a little about most of them. You can find the taverns and festhalls where criminals abide in any area, as long as you speak the language. You have an advantage on persuasion rolls against them.
Suggested Characteristics
Personality Traits (d8)
1 I always have a plan for what to do when things go wrong.
2 I am always calm, no matter what the situation. I never raise my voice or let my emotions control me.
3 I try to be kind when I can be.
4 I would rather make a new friend than a new enemy.
5 I am incredibly slow to trust. Those who seem the fairest often have the most to hide.
6 I don't pay attention to the risks in a situation. Never tell me the odds.
7 The best way to get me to do something is to tell me I can't do it.
8 I blow up at the slightest insult.
Ideals (d6)
1 Honor. I realized my past actions were wrong, and will do everything in my power to redeem myself. (Lawful)
2 Freedom. Chains are meant to be broken, as we are the ones who forged them. (Chaotic)
3 Charity. I try to make up for my actions by donating to charity (Good)
4 Greed. I don’t really want to change, this adventure is just part of my punishment as some sort of “Community Service”. (Evil)
5 People. I'm loyal to my friends and family. They’re the only reason I’m trying to do better. (Neutral)
6 Redemption. There's a spark of good in everyone. I hope that spark hasn’t faded within me. (Good)
Bonds (d6)
1 I'm trying to pay off an old debt I owe.
2 My gains go to support my family or charities
3 I still sometimes speak to my old companions from when I was a criminal.
4 I do what I do to make the people who love me proud.
5 I'm guilty of a terrible crime. I hope I can redeem myself for it.
6 Someone I loved died because of I mistake I made. That will never happen again.
Flaws (d6)
1 I still steal things sometimes out of habit.
2 My mind still automatically maps out the best way to kill someone upon meeting them.
3 I don't trust anyone anymore. Everyone is my enemy.
4 I have a "tell" that reveals when I'm lying.
5 I turn tail and run when things look bad.
6 I can’t bring myself to feel any remorse for those I hurt when I was a criminal.

Sailor
You sailed on a seagoing vessel for years. In that time you faced down mighty storms monsters of the deep and those who wanted to sink your craft to the bottomless depths. Your first love is the distant line of the horizon but the time has come to try your hand at something new. Discuss the nature of the ship you previously sailed with your DM. Was it a merchant ship a naval vessel a ship of discovery or a pirate ship? How famous (or infamous) is it? Is it widely traveled? Is it still sailing or is it missing and presumed lost with all hands? What were your duties on board (Boatswain Captain Navigator Cook or some other position)? Who were the captain and first mate? Did you leave your ship on good terms with your fellows or on the run?
Skill Proficiencies: Athletics and Perception
Tool Proficiencies: Navigator's tools and vehicles (Water)
Equipment: A belaying pin (club), 50 feet of silk rope a lucky charm such as a rabbit Foot or a small stone with a hole in the center, a set of common clothes, and a pouch containing 10gp.
Feature: Ship's Passage: When you need to you can secure free passage on a sailing ship for yourself and your adventuring companions. You might sail on the ship you served on, or another ship you have good relations with (Perhaps one captained by a former crewmate). Because you're calling in a favor you can't be certain of a schedule or route that will meet your every need. Your DM will determine how long it takes to get where you need to go. In return for your free passage you and your companions are expected to assist the crew during the voyage.

My could-be-controversial take on Jayce Talis is that if he lived in a universe or city where you could just go study to become a wizard, like the Baldur's Gate 3/D&D universe for example, he never would have bothered with blacksmithing or Hextech in general, he would have gone straight to esoteric magic school and never come out again. He'd be Gale Dekarios. Blacksmithing and Hextech were always about him finding a workaround within his own available skills and background for what was possibly the most heartbreaking moment of his young life: that he didn't have any actual, inherent magical ability of his own.
(Which just makes the fact that his mage also didn't have inherent magical ability, that Viktor gained it through his association with Jayce, all the more delicious.)

Folk Hero
You come from a humble social rank but you are destined for so much more. Already the people of your home village regard you as their champion and your destiny calls you to stand against the tyrants and monsters that threaten the common folk everywhere.
Skill Proficiencies: Animal Handling and Survival
Tool Proficiencies: 1 type of artisan's tools and Vehicles (Land)
Equipment: A set of artisan's tools (1 of your choice), a shovel, an iron pot, a set of common clothes, and a pouch containing 10 gp.
Feature: Rustic Hospitality:
Since you come from the ranks of the common folk you fit in among them with ease. You can find a place to hide, rest, or recuperate among other commoners, unless you have shown yourself to be a danger to them. They will shield you from the law or anyone else searching for you though they will not risk their lives for you.

My second illustration for the @bg3-winter-big-bang, based on a scene from @ofsilentthings' submission "And Tomorrow I Shall Again Wear Diamonds And Dance". There's so many little details about this picture that I can talk about endlessly, but I'll spare you guys. 😉

Titan Takedown is solidifying itself as my go-to recommendation for someone interested in DnD media but who is totally new to the game and maybe isn’t the biggest fantasy fan
Sure if someone like dragons and fairies and wizards then there are plenty of other DnD properties for them to explore that will have enough elves and magic curses to draw them in
But if the fantasy isn’t the draw to the game, Titan Takedown is the PERFECT introduction:
Brennan explains the mechanics frequently because the players are learning as they go
The setting of Ancient Greece has enough recognizable background characters to ensure everyone can follow who the NPCs are
There is enough lore and fighting every episode to keep people engaged
And of course every one of the WWE wrestlers is having a blast playing which just makes it fun to watch
They just made so many good choices for this campaign, I love it
