Adding to the well-deserved pile of thanks for your detailed posts about the Mata vs. Avianca cases! It provided a lot of legal context I had no idea even existed (like I thought I had a general idea how the Circuit courts and Appeals courts worked, but I had no idea about persuasive vs binding decisions!).

I know the notary issue isn’t particularly interesting at this point, but from a technical perspective (forgive me if someone already has noted this):

1. 99% certain the 25+h thing isn’t a technological error. That’s just a plain old typo. Fanciest thing that could have happened there is someone was trying to use a keyboard shortcut to automatically make the ‘th’ a superscript and messed it up.

2. They would have had to manually fixed it, or Word’s Spelling & Grammar caught it and they just accepted the new suggestion (sometimes Word will autocorrect, but generally that’s only when you’re typing, not after the fact). Guessing why they later fixed it and not the month was because it was pointed out by Word when someone was reviewing it (which means they didn’t spell check their doc before printing it the first time, good job guys).

3. The reason it has a print date before a creation date is most likely because it’s a copy of the original file. The creation date was overwritten when it was made, but the print date field wasn’t overwritten for the new copy. (It could also be a restored copy of an older version; Word saves the data of previous versions, which can be restored as a new document.)

4. Most likely it was copied because they were putting their files in a shared drive for the Professional Responsiblity Laywers. I’d bet money that tempuser1 is one of them, because they’d have to have given them access to the firm’s Microsoft365 instance to collaborate on documents.

Oh! Oh! That all makes a lot of sense - especially the autocorrect! I mean, we can't know for sure, but it sounds extremely plausible (based on everything else we've seen from Schwartz) that he just caught the typo because Word pointed out, didn't bother to proofread the month (or anything else) because it wasn't, technically, a typo, and then printed without saving the corrected typo.

That was a mystery that maybe didn't need to be solved, but I'm very glad you did! Thank you!

MoviesOr... Thelma

Part of me wanted to close my notebook, but part of me couldn't stop watching Thelma. Even though it's being screened in movie theatres here in Toronto, which would be the ideal setting for me, I just had one of those days where I wanted to lay back, eat something that I didn't have to meticulously cook, and watch a movie I knew I would like. I wasn't wrong. June Squibb is such a lovely and skilled actress that you can count on to deliver good performances and stories. The first time I saw her was on the US version of Shameless — a TV show that, for five seasons, was the best thing I ever decided to try it out, but that shattered my heart ever since — and since then, I've admired how sweet she is. It's so special for me to see her acting steady and strong at such an advanced age that I can't help but being inspired by her, hoping that, likewise, I will make it this far in my career. I mean, imagine starring in an action movie at 96 years old? Not for everyone.

While we watch our unexpected heroine trying to get her money back after being scammed by phone callers pretending to be her grandson and his laywer, we're involved in both funny and delicate situations revolving around the reality of our elderly (partialy, at least). It's impossible not to draw parallels with people in our lives who, just like her, struggle to write on a computer or close an ad. How sweet is it to see, every now and then, our little lady thinking she saw someone she knew, only to realize she didn't know that person at all (not after a long minute of discussing possible previous encounters, of course)? The caring moments are juxtaposed with a serious touch on matters that we all know are inevitable but don't ever want to come, such as when our seniors become a liability to us. It’s touching to see Fred Hechinger's character beating himself up for losing track of his grandmother due to, as he thinks, a neglect on his part. With such hard parents, Thelma is more than just a grandmother to him; she is one of the most important people in his life. His acting here is completely emotional and special. If I'm surprised by anything, it's how I confused him with Logan Miller (from Love, Simon) — let's be honest, theres a resemblance.

Other special moments include the whole sequence involving the lady with that special smile, played by the lovely Bunny Levine, who has a gun in her house and that decided that she wouldn't pick a war against the cockroaches that never stop coming (as if they were the modern version of Hydra of Lerna); or the cute guy from the antique shop, played by the upcoming talent Aidan Fiske, if we forget that he's a bad person for thinking it's right to take advantage of old people — which I did considering that I obviously ran to search every detail I could about him on the internet as soon as the credits rolled over.

To be fair, there's not much to be said about the movie, except that it's incredibly original and portrays touchingly how it is to be old, piercing, specially, the heart of those who still don't know how it really feels to be old. It reminded me of this lady I considered my grandmother, who died of Alzheimer’s years ago. At the same time, it's a punch in the stomach to see what the future holds for us. Today, I proudly walk around the streets, fast and carefree, loving every inch of freedom I have while feeling like I'm running out of time to reach the finish line of my dreams. But tomorrow is coming just as fast as I spot some white hairs here and there. If, by my nineties, I'm able to do such badass things as driving around on a scooter while carrying a gun to teach some bad guys a lesson, then it's fine by me. Especially if you trade the gun for a microphone and the bad guys for a crowd. There's nothing much more to ask than that, and that June Squibb keeps delivering us more and more special characters like her delightfully fearless Thelma.

Jayden Robert Hanson is the son of Rockstar Jackson Hanson guitarist of the 80s hairband Heavens Gate and Laywer Helena Hanson. When he was younger his dad was not really around because his band was still touring in his band and playing music while his mom was home taking care of him. They were not rich for say but they did have money. He knew something was up when his mom moved him to a bigger house when he was 9 years old and his dad didn't come with them. At the age of 15 he got into high school and started skateboarding, listening to bands like Blink-182, Sleeping with Sirens and All Time low as well as started dating a beautiful girl named Annie. One day he went home with his girlfriend and started singing at a bbq they had and there was a friend of his moms who was a talent agent there asking if Jayden did it professionally and he shook his head after the guy said his dad would be proud of him and is looking down on him. confused before he looks at his mom and questioned what this man just said. His mother said they moved here because his father passed away on tour and she didn't know how to tell him and this talent agent was her boyfriend. He went inside and started grabbing his stuff and took Annie with him. At the age of 18 he graduated high school and never spoke to his mom. Annie was going to college USC to be exact and he needed something because college was not an option for him. So he spend days and even nights in his house that he paid for with the money his father left him in a trust fund before his passing. The male wanted to start a band. He had some friends of his looking for a lead singer so he basically did what Vince Neil did in the movie the dirt and tried out and he was perfect and they knew he was perfect as well. They were about to go on their first call as he had gotten a call from Annie's mom and she had passed away from a car accident and was driving under the influence. He then went to rock bottom. He knew this wasn't what he needed because he was about to go on his first tour with his band but his friends cancelled the tour because of it. In the summer of his 19th birthday he said goodbye to the love of his life with his best friends and told her mom that he was here for the family. Annie's mom told him that Annie loved him and before she passed away Annie told her that she knew he was special and that's why she loved him. She told her mom that if he didn't go on the road she would come home and push him to do it then never go back to college because his dreams came first. Jayden knew what he had to do. He ran out of the wake after it was over to the rehersal space where his band was and told them that He was ready but they were changing the name from Sly Hookers to Saving Annie. They agreed and knew it was the right way to honor Annie's memory Jayden is now 30 about to be 31 years old living in Cape May, NJ and still making music with his band even after a decade. He has worked with tons of other bands as well such as Our Last Night, Against The Current, Neck Deep and so may more. He has won a couple of awards but to this day he still thinks about Annie and what it would have been like if she was still with him today. He knows he can't change the past but he will make sure his future is bright and he does everything in memory of Annie.

I just searched in some tags and saw a post abt Gaon introduced Yohan to tiktok. So can i ask for headcanons when Gaon does the tiktok challenge “you said we’re just friends but i swear when nobody’s around” with Jinjoo, Laywer Ko… and gets the hilarious reaction. Until he does it with Yohan, he doesn’t expect Yohan takes it seriously as flirtation

Anon, I know jack shit about tik tok and the challenges (as I don't have tik tok), so I will do my best!

Gaon enjoys watching the little tik tok challenges that he sometimes sees on his "for you" page but he never does them because he's awkward and well...a grown man

Jinjoo, however, is the one to convince him to do a few of the challenges with her and Gaon finds that they're actually quite fun and a lot of Jinjoo's followers want Gaon to do some of the challenges

Many of Jinjoo's followers suggest that Gaon do the "you said we’re just friends but i swear when nobody’s around" tik tok challenge so Gaon pulls out his own phone, opens tik tok and does the challenge with Jinjoo

Both of them burst out laughing about halfway through the challenge because it's so cringey but his followers seem to like it and they ask him to do more of the challenge

So Gaon decides to do the challenge with Lawyer Ko next because the dude seems cool and would probably be down with doing it. So he films the tik tok with Lawyer Ko and the man just looks at him like he's lost a few screws

Gaon shows him the amount of views the video gets and Lawyer Ko is like...I like the attention but I still think you've lost a few screws

Gaon just laughs and thanks him for being okay with filming the video with him. Gaon then goes to different people in the supreme court and films different challenges with them and everyone laughs and has a good time

Gaon's final "victim" if you will, is Yohan. He films the tik tok with Yohan and is all happy about it as he leaves Yohan's office, not realizing that he basically just caused Yohan to bluescreen for the rest of the day

When they head home that on that day, they drive in silence, as usual, until Yohan glances over at him

"Did you mean it?"

Gaon looks at him in surprise and raises an eyebrow

"Mean what?"

"What those lyrics said in the video you recorded"

Gaon blinks, thinking back to the tik tok he made earlier that day before his eyes widen and he looks at Yohan in shock

"Sir, that was just for a tik tok...I wasn't...I wasn't being serious"

Yohan hums and nods and they continue to drive in silence but Gaon definitely notices the look of hurt on Yohan's face, which he finds odd

When they arrive home, Yohan quickly heads to his study to be left alone while Gaon frowns and heads to the kitchen to start making dinner, thinking about Yohan's face the entire time

"You're frowning"

Gaon startles and looks over his shoulder at Elijah, who is looking at him with a frown on her face

"No, you're frowning"

"I always frown. You don't. Why are you frowning?"

Gaon frowns and sighs before he turns to Elijah and explains to her the tik tok challenge he did and how weird Yohan's been acting after it

Elijah just stares at him before she smacks him in the head, causing him to cry out in pain and clutch at his head as Elijah now glares at him

"You're an idiot"

Gaon stares at her in confusion as she groans and explains to him that Yohan likes him. Like...a lot. There's a lot of things Gaon gets away with that most people couldn't even attempt around Yohan so like...put two and two together, buddy

Gaon continues to stare at her before the gears in his head start firing and he's like...oh shit he thinks I led him on. Oh fuck

Elijah's like there you go, you dumbass, now go apologize or he's going to be miserable and then everyone's going to be miserable

Gaon then heads to Yohan's study sheepishly and walks over to his desk, apologizing for filming the video with him today. Yohan just waves his hand, saying it's no big deal before he goes back to reading his book

Gaon then goes on to say that a little birdie told him that Yohan may or may not have a crush on him. Yohan looks up at him with wide eyes and Gaon just smiles his ever fond smile that he only seems to smile at Yohan and Elijah

Yohan huffs and says that he has no idea what he's talking about causing Gaon to chuckle before he walks around Yohan's desk and presses a little kiss to Yohan's hair before he walks away, declaring that dinner will be done in a little while

Yohan stares after him in shock before he huffs and shakes his head as he goes back to reading his book, a small little smile on his face

You know what??? I'll say it! Unpopular opinion (i think?)! I REALLY like the dark age of the law plotline!

I mean it makes sense.

Like, there was always deepseeded corruption and issues in the court system, as if the people aren't eventually going to lose faith? Especially after the disastrous string of corruption scandals regarding the closing of dl-6, the revelations regarding sl-9, the ur-1 incident, the disbarment, that thing with the chief prosecutor that apparently happens in aai2 but i'm not there yet, I could go on. Like. The people are Going to lose faith and that's Going to fuel more corruption from laywers who are desperate to find justice however they can (which, if the people don't trust them, truth and trust isn't going to work)'

You see multiple people in the legal system outed for serious corruption, some people involved- Like mister Miles Edgeworth who had rumours following him for YEARS regarding sl-9 and was in fact part of the whole scandal in the end but wasn't punished, and fucking, yeah, that's not his fault, but the PUBLIC doesn't know that, they're going to be pissed he got away with that- didn't even get punished!  The people are going to lose faith. With the false convictions and the repeated scandals from 2016-2019 and the fact that some fuckers got away with it?

Aura Blackquill tried for YEARS to get her brother out of jail through legal means. Angel Starr and Jake Marshall still have to live with not having jobs after the corrupt bs of the sl-9 incident. Mia and Diego both suffered hell because the legal system failed to do its job and they had to persue dangerous criminals themselves. Miles Edgeworth looks *awful* after sl-9 and apparently got away with it (not that he shoulda been punished but that it definitely looks bad from the outside that he wasn’t). Not to mention Phoenix Wright, a rather well known defense attorney who always preached justice being outed as a fraud too! 

And with the people so hostile towards the law is it any wonder people like Prof. Means and Kristoph Gavin thrived here?  Any wonder the people who looked up to them thought resorting to corruption was the only way out? Any wonder the general public didn't lighten up when MORE corruption started popping up?  And I mean, this all surfaced within the course of what, three or four years? That's not a lot. That's *just* enough time to trigger civil unrest and sour the public, actually.

And it's only natural that the introduction of lawyers who KNOW this isn't the right way to fix things. Klavier getting out from under his brothers thumb, Apollo and Athena searching for truth and justice above all, Nick getting his badge back, Simon being freed from jail, them inspiring people like Juniper, Hugh, and Robin to keep trying to find justice through true and just means. Ofc the only thing that can fix distrust from the public is good lawyers who care about people and want to fix things finally stepping up to do just that and mend public relations. When people like Prof. Means and Kristoph Gavin stop being the face of law then maybe the people can start to trust again. When wrongful convictions are overturned and lawyers seem to actually care.  Miss Blackquill got an apology and her desperation paid off, Simon was cleared of all charges and freed freed, Kristoph and Means were arrested, other lawyers got up the courage to stand for truth and justice. The timeline adds up, the themes are nice, I actually Love the whole thing. I mean, them saying "~the dark age of the law~" all the time was kinda grating but it was a reminder for the people who cared- Nick, Athena, Apollo, Klavier, Simon, Juniper, Hugh, Robin, etc- that things were Bad and needed to be Better?

Some lawyers decide the ends justify the means, that's what's being taught nowadays, you can't trust that things will turn out if you play nice, that's foolishly idealistic. And the more prominent thid kind of corruption becomes the more lawyers feel like they have to engage to have any chance of getting true justice against an opponent who's more than willing to fight dirty. It isn't right. But what else do you do? There's justice in truth. That's what people like Apollo and Athena believe. But what happens when truth DOESN'T bring justice? Or hell, even when justice isn't fair! Even Nick decided to use forged evidence once back when he had Trucy give Apollo that bloodied ace and quite frankly I don't exactly hold it against him. But of course when corruption is exposed and the courts stop being about the truth, can the people ever be expected to believe in them? False convictions. Death sentences for the innocent while the guilty walk free. More and more lawyers being exposed for corruption and crime. How can anybody trust a system like that?  The way the court system is set up practically begs lawyers to be corrupt and distrustful and quite frankly that inspires the same in the people.

But still...

There are people like Athena and Apollo and Klavier and Nick and everyone else who genuinely CARES who still inspire a little bit of hope!  Who still persue truth and justice and who are starting to make the people TRUST again, maybe just a little. Aura Blackquill is a wonderful example, she was ignored for YEARS as she tried to get justice and resorted to the most extreme measures, and yet she seemed to be starting to trust US a little in the end there because of *course* she was! Because the only thing that can drive out the darkness of the dark age of law is the light of people who are *good*.  And she didn't trust the law completely at the end, far from it, but she trusted US enough to let us handle the case and that was a start. That was enough! 

And I love it. I love this whole plotline. With my entire heart and soul. It’s all very naturally progressing from everything we see throughout the series. The slow buildup of distrust on all sides. The realism in that we don’t just Fix Everything and make everyone Love us again (aa5 may have reversed the big catalysts for the dark age of law but aa6 proves very clearly that there’s still work to be done in fixing things and rebuilding trust). But the optimism in showing what a few good people who care an awful lot can do.

It’s great. I love it so much.

“Dopheld can’t you drive any faster?” Kylo’s leg bounces hard enough to make the entire car shake, as you’re stuck in rush hour traffic.

You’re coming back from a big meeting with Gwen, about some business going on uptown that Kylo needed to be in the know about. The meeting was over, and now you’re heading home, and Kylo is so anxious that it’s making him more snappish than usual.

“I’m sorry Mr. Ren, I’m trying.” The poor kid glances up regretfully in the rearview window, his hands gripping the steering wheel as he tries to inch up and up and up to no avail.

“You’re fine, I’m right here with you, we’ll be home soon.” You’ve got Kylo’s hand in your own, your thumb rubbing soothing motions on the back of his palm, hoping that the touch is grounding and will provide a sense of calm.

“I’m – ” Kylo struggles with the words for a minute, so instead he simply guides your hand to the pant-leg of his trousers, where you feel the hot thick length of his cock pressing up through his briefs.

“Oh.” Your eyebrows shoot up, immediately devising a plan to make him feel better right there in the back of the car.

Marry: Bond Villain!Kylo 

“I have to ask about the ring.” You broach the subject as calmly as you can, when he starts to re-dress after an afternoon of fucking you.

It’s something that’s been bothering you for a little while. Not enough to really deter you from pursuing this…whatever you want to call it, with Kylo, but enough that it’s been on your mind. If you were the other woman, you wanted to know.

“What ring?” Kylo, to his credit, frowns at you like he doesn’t know what you’re talking about. Until he looks down at his hand, and lets out a big groan and, “Oh – this.”

“That.” You confirm, snuggling down into the covers of his condo overlooking the sea. You had tracked him down and instead of sending him off to prison like you were supposed to have done, he had taken you to dinner, taken you back to his place, and taken you apart.

“It’s not real.” Kylo chews on his lip, stumbling over his words for the first time since you’ve met him. Kylo was good with his tongue, very good, it wasn’t like him to trip over himself like this, “Well, it’s real but it’s not – I don’t have – it’s just for show.”

He finally manages to get that out, and you can’t deny the relief that floods through you, making your tense shoulders sag thankfully.

“Good, I would hate to think I’m keeping you away from a spouse somewhere.” You lie. It wouldn’t have been that big of a deal, you think, not really. Not if it’s Kylo.

But he shakes his head and sits on the edge of the mattress, rubs a hand along your calf where it’s tucked under the blankets.

“No, you’re the only agent for me. I’ve said it before, and I mean it every time.” He replies seriously, a kind of seriousness that makes you swallow.

“Do that many women throw themselves at you for you to have to deter them like this?” You try to lighten the mood, and it works a little.

“Not so much anymore, but a couple years ago yes. It was getting insufferable, a man can’t scheme with women in his bed.” He smiles and winks at you, but you smack his arm playfully.

“I’m in your bed.” You point out, meeting his sparkling gaze with a fond one of your own, “And I can see those gears of yours turning.”

“You’re different.” He says shyly, and your hand reaches out to twine your fingers with his.

“How?” You wonder aloud, always wanting to know what’s going on in that brilliant mind of his.

Kylo levels you a steady look and says with the utmost perfect confidence, “I’m going to marry you one day.”

You can feel the truth in his words, can hear it deep in your bones. The idea terrifies and electrifies you in equal amount, fear and eager anticipation of the future, of the unknown.

“This is an interesting proposal.” You whisper, giving his hand a squeeze, looking at his ring.

“No this isn’t the proposal – ” Kylo shakes his head, eyes wide, fumbling again, and now you know why, he’s nervous, the idea of rejection making him nearly shake.

“I’m joking.” You cut him off before he can really spiral, before he goes hopping off on a helicopter on the roof and running away to lick his wounds. He smiles at you, palm clammy against yours from nerves, and you smile back.

“I will. One day.” That smug confidence is back, and he tugs you a little, wanting you out of bed. “But for now, I’m starving. Lunch?”

“Lunch.” You concede with a dramatic sigh, a growl of your stomach is all it takes for him to toss a beautiful outfit your way, knowing that the heavy conversations can be had another time.

Kill: Lawyer!Kylo 

The two of you are panting in the quiet of your apartment. It’s an odd place to be, you can’t help but think, so many of your nights together are at his place. You like it better that way – less cleanup for you to have to do. But Kylo had come over to talk details for a case he’s got coming up, and you hadn’t wanted him to leave, so he railed you six ways til’ Sunday, and now you’re lying on your backs staring up at the ceiling under your sheets.  

“You’re gonna be the fucking death of me one day, you know?” Kylo says out of nowhere, says it angry, almost as if he’s mad at you.

You know that he’s thinking if you were both at his place, he could have a cigarette in bed right about now, and you get a small satisfaction out of denying him that. He can’t get too comfortable after all, this wasn’t his space.

Yes he just blew your back out and made you see stars, but this was your bed.

“Oh yeah? And how’s that?” You roll onto your side, propping your head up on your elbow and trying to take deep measured breaths.

The covers slip around your waist and Kylo groans getting a view of your breasts, bruised and marked up from where he had his way with you.

“You get my heart rate going too fast, I’m going to wind up with a heart attack.” Kylo mutters, one of his big hands rubbing at his eyes.

“Aw that’s not fun, I’d much rather kill you the old fashioned way.” You grin, making your sworn enemy huff out a laugh, naked in your bed. What had your life become, you wonder fondly, watching him shake his head at the sentiment. You continue teasingly, “Have you ever seen Arsenic and Old Lace?”

Kylo rolls over you then, pins you underneath him and kisses at your neck. It’s his favorite place to latch his teeth onto, especially when you’re being too much.

“You’d get away with it too, you’re scary that way – remind me to bring my own wine over next time.” Kylo kisses you and pinches at your body until you’re squirming and laughing.

“I’m scary in a lot of ways.” You grab his jaw with one hand. He opens his mouth and you rub your thumb along his bottom teeth, and for a minute, you see genuine respect and admiration in his eyes for you…until it’s melting into that playful competitive nature of his once again.

“Feel.” He instructs, and you move your hand from his jaw, sliding it down his thick neck and resting it right over his heart beat.

His pulse is going crazy, a product of the nearness of you, and you smile.

“Pretty fast.” You whisper.

“Pretty damn fast.” He agrees, before he flops back over onto his back and beckons you close with a, “Now get over here, if I’m going out I at least want to come one more time before I go.”

Thank you for yor Steel Samurai headcanon post! And I adore your headcanons about Neo Tokyo's legal system. It sent my own mind into brainstorming overdrive. Now I image there's at least two laywers the show runners commissioned with working out the show's intern legal system. One is specialized in Japanifornia law and one did a master thesis on Japanese laws during the Warring States era. This lawyer is also researching the Edo era for fun.

You’re very welcome! And yeah, I can see something like that being the case, it would make a lot of sense! I’m not sure if they’d hire actual lawyers for a job like that or someone with a more... theoretical degree in legal practices? Is that a thing? (considers) Even if it’s not a thing here, it sounds like it could be a thing in the AA universe. There’s definitely a few people on staff from Japan with degrees in Japanese history that specialize on the topics you’re talking about.

I also, out of necessity, have a few headcanons for Sal Manella as a result of all this. First off, I like to think that, when you put the cringe-ier aspects of his personality aside, he’s one of those people who gets really excited about world-building for the shows he does and also really bored with seeing tropes done the same way over and over - Steel Samurai only has one season canonically, after all, and it’s still wildly popular, so this has to be a really good show, so Sal’s presumably hiding some solid talent behind that presentation of his.

And it would be easy to leave this as a ‘sausage’ situation (aka, everyone likes the product, no one likes to think too hard about how it’s made), but I also choose to believe that Sal got sent through some behavioural improvement classes after the Steel Samurai case. Is this because I like him as a character? No. It’s because I recognize that he’s very much meant to be a representation of the ‘creepy otaku’ stereotype (that’s even pretty much what the wordplay in his Japanese name is), and I’m really tired of seeing the idea that this is just how male otaku and geeks are normalized like this, and also the concept that if someone is like this, they will always be like this, they can never change. So congrats, Sal, you got a new producer who forced you to clean up your act and grow as a person.

I think he also still continues to drive fans of his series a little crazy, because he will toss in stuff they want to see at times, like a strong character who is female (the Pink Princess) or various types of representation that gets confirmed “yeah, it’s representation” and well done representation at that. And every single time he gets asked, “So, why did you do this? Are you trying to (some noble/upstanding motivation)?” he just replies that he thought it’d be neat. This is honestly so much more interesting to me for a character than just another boring use of the ‘otaku/geek guys are creepy perverts’ trope.

On a quiet night in Washington on November 2014, couple Sue Duncan and Leo Fisher, both 61, were at home preparing dinner when there was a knock at their door.

Leo opned the door to see a man standing there claiming to be an agent from the Virginia branch of the Securities and Exchange Commision. The agent stated he was sent to arrest Leo on suspicion that he was working with a drug cartel and had planned through email, to hire someone to murder a member of the said cartel.

While Leo protested he had no idea what the agent was talking about, the agent revealed a taser and shot Leo and then preceded to bind Leo's hands and feet with zip ties. The agent also bound Sue's hands and feet, and put the couple in their bedroom where the agent started to interrogate Leo.

Leo was an attorney for the firm Bean, Kinney, and Korman, which soon became the topic of the interrogation.

"Didn't you just let someone go?" the agent asked Leo.

Leo had in fact fired someone the month before, Alecia Schmuhl. Alecia had been an intellectual property lawyer at the firm for two years. Soon after she was hired, by Leo, she began missing meetings and falling behind in her work. Other laywers at the firm urged Leo to fire her but, Leo asked them to give her a second chance.

In June 2014 it was found that Alecia had listed her husband as an employee at the firm on a mortgage application and even impersonated the firms human resources director on the phone with her bank. After being confronted with the perceived mortgage fraud allegation, Alecia and her husband Andrew met with Leo to plead their innocence. Andrew raised his voice several times during the meeting, leaving a lasting impression on Leo.

Enough so that when Leo opened the door and saw the "agent," he knew it was in fact Andrew Schmuhl, but kept the realization to himself.

Leo and the others at Bean Kinney gave Alecia a third chance to continue working there but, a few months later in October 2014 Alecia was still falling behind and Leo was forced to let her go.

Andrew Schmuhl had been in the Army for several years before he attended Valparaiso Law School in Indiana where he met Alecia.

By 2009 they had married and moved to Washington where Andrew worked as an Army laywer processing medical claims. It was here in 2012 when one morning during physical training he slipped on ice and severely injured his back resulting in a medical discharge.

From that day forward Andrew was on an extensive list of prescription medication ranging from blood pressure medication to the powerful pain reliever, Fentanyl. This lead to Andrew being on disability and spending his days in bed.

On the night in question, after a three hour interrogation related to money, Andrew became enraged after Leo told him he did not keep any large sums of money at the home and put a pillow over Leo's face to smother him. When that did not work, Andrew slit Leo's throat.

Upon hearing the struggle Sue ran in from the bathroom and Andrew shot at her. The bullet grazed her skull knocking her down and Andrew began to stab Sue multiple times.

Miraculously Sue was able to get to the alarm system to alert the police.

Leo was able to give police Andrew and Alecia's names and they set out to track them down.

Speeding down the highway a K-9 unit spotted the Schmuhl's SUV. After a brief chase Alecia, who was driving, pulled over into a parking lot.

Andrew was ordered out of the vehicle, wearing only an adult diaper and handcuffed.

Police soon noticed Andrew seemed to be under the influence of drugs and found a Fentanyl patch on his arm which they removed. However, he was also wearing another Fentanyl patch under his diaper.

After receiving a dose of Narcan at the hospital, Andrew was taken into custody. Alecia had also been arrested at the scene.

Once the trial began Andrew's laywers argued he was a good person with a good heart but his mind was poisoned by all the medication he was prescibed. Laywers hoped for an involuntary intoxication defense but, since they hadn't let the states medical expert evaluate Andrew at the start of the trial, their expert witness, Dr. Eileen Ryan was not allowed to give a medical diagnosis relating to Andrew.

After going over all the evidence that included: a shopping list of supplies for the attack which police found along with the items from the list in the Schmuhls car, prepaid phones, CCTV footage of Alecia buying the taser, and hand written directions to Sue and Leos home, the court found that the attempted murder had all been premeditated by the Schmuls.

Andrew was found guilty and recieved two life terms.

Alecia pled guilty to all charges and stands to serve 10-45 years in prison.

Thankfully, Sue and Leo survived the horrible attack.

911 Fox: Season 5 Episode 2: Desperate Times Thoughts, Comments and all that jazz. As always! Spoilers abound below the cut! 

The first 5 minutes were intense! HOLY SHIT!  Eddie almost falling out of the helicopter! Hen was in there too! Oh my god!  When I saw that she was in there too I was like, “WHY?!?!”  They can’t do this to me with the both of them!  And it was so sweet how Hen was talking with the Paramedic in the copter.  Bobby doing what he did.  He knows what he did.  You know what he did.  I know what he did.  I was like “WTH!?” Excuse me sir- Buck does reckless shit, you’re doing reckless shit. IF THE SHOE FITS! In the, I like the Bobby as a Father Figure to Buck trope. So I mean like father like son, THE SHOE FITS.  And all the team-holding onto the “rope”  SNEAK IN EDDIE’S TOSSLED HAIR! (Because I was like OH EM GEE I LOVE IT) And just the noise cutting out as soon as the thread on the copter snaps.  CINEMATIC BEAUTY! 

Michael and David throwing a party. Well- I mean a “Come to house we have power” party. IT really wasn’t a party party haha.  Two days in a row we got Michael and David content.  Love it!  I need more of this, especially after the Dumpster Diving Scene with Bobby And David being brought into that chaos. Eddie saying- “He takes Chris there all the time” STRAIGHT OUT OF A FANFIC! I see you writers. I see what you did there.�� Hen knowing facts about Alpacas.  And oh my god-I was trying not to laugh as her hand was shaking when luring away the alpaca haha.  SNEAK IN EDDIE AND HIS HELMET HAIR! 

MAY BEING AWESOME DOING AWESOME SAVING PEOPLE! That was sooo smart, with what she did. And guys, FEELS! FEELS! The whole neighborhood came together to help that little boy and they were so committed. Like. HELP ME WITH THE FEELS.  Excuse me! I FREAKING CALLED IT!  Eddie did have another panic attack-and ding ding, it was Ana. (he even admitted it later) And he has to break it up with her.  And that’s what I mean when I say called it. Well with the Eddie and Ana situation. Sorta called it.  Eddie is just gonna stick it out. He wants it to work-but it’s just not working. If that makes any sense.  As I said in one of my previous posts- He likes her and the idea of her and being with her. But at the same time-the idea of it is jarring and scares him. He is not ready yet to be in a committed relationship.  And for Buck to see that and call him out. I think that’s what Eddie needs.  I think for Eddie’s sake he needs to break up.  And as Buck mentioned. it is not fair to Ana or Eddie himself.  So yes- the relationship needs to end. The dude almost had another PANIC attack. Why are you causing yourself emotional distress. Take it from someone (myself) who has been there, DON”T DO THAT!.  And okay- Chimney and Hen having a moment. Where they are talking. These two are my brOTP. And I need them to have more moments like this. I miss them having moments like this. Best friends!  Okay-so what happened with Jee, that is going to drive Maddie deeper and be more sad. She is going to feel soooo guilty. Like there is nothing more scary than that.  LOU SURVIVED! THE LAYWER IS DEAD! HUDSON WAS PLAYING JENGA WITH HARY  BOBBY CALLED ATHENA BABY! (That was so sweet) HUDSON HAS HARRY! They started with intense, they ended with a HIGH ANXIETY INTENESE. This episode was the greatest.

hmm y/n wasn’t really working hard for her dad’s attention, it was more like she felt so left out and unwanted (she feels unwanted wherever she goes) that she just decided to pack up and support them from afar bcos to her, she’s so alienated in her dad’s family that she felt like she had to work hard to earn a spot in their table. she knows she’s the outsider but she wants to feel like she can be part of them, that she is also a child deserving of love and care, but becos her stepmom focused more on her actual kids and her own dad was too busy with his new family now, it made y/n feel that she had to do something to be worthy of that.

that’s why most of the money she made working in tokyo was still wired to her family; she put her brothers in school and supported them, all because she hoped it would make them accept her more. now, things are different because she finally found her biological family, but even if valeria and co. still don’t want her, y/n is now more focusing on building something that’s truly hers that no one can take away. yes yes, she did become greedy, but more for power than of acceptance. she got to a point she doesn’t care as much vying for her parents’ approval and now thinks her luxury gives her comfort; only because at least she has that much. like she said in the latest chapter, happiness was not what she needed, it was stability and money - all things she lacked before.

and yea she did go back to her roots! all of her issues started with her dad anyway but that part is slowly patching up 🩹💔 oooh actually your theory is right bestie 🧐 gojo found y/n interesting bcos she reminded him of mia, so the more she pushed him away, the more he’s like wait, i’ve been here before, let’s not repeat past mistakes but i can do better now. on the part where gojo talked to mia while she was asleep, notice how he said he’s given a second chance to do better now, all because he couldn’t do them with mia but he could with y/n.

ohhh actually y/n was the one who established that ‘fulfilling mutual need and settling for familiarity instead of being lonely’ type of relationship. gojo avoided her for weeks and he’s pretty settled in keeping his distance, but she was the one who sought him out. deep down, y/n is afraid if she doesn’t at least use him as an anchor to her more humble roots, then she might spiral out of control and end up like valeria, thus using him as a ‘distraction’ but in reality, she needs his comfort to be grounded.

How whats left of me faded away, and how my first christmas home became my last : - The day my mom died. - The concept of family finally ended for me. - And how “ it doesnt get any better”.

23rd December.

These past few months i have been on psiquiatric medical leave from work due to a very severe depression thanks to the amazing workplace enviroment that has now crippled me so deeply physically and mentally, more before.

Its funny how when i try my hardest to recover and get my life back, its becomes so clear its a fucking joke.

Begining of the year i managed to fight off my mom on the money she was forcing me to pay her, and i managed to pay less from what i was paying before, and due to these medical leaves and corona, i get very little support finnancialy. I managed to save up almost 1k, i was ready to start believinng i could fix up my life. However i still pay her what i have to monthly, half the bills, 50 euros for food that i may consume at the house, and i also buy my food and my own things like i always did.

My mom has the tendancy to force me to take borrowed money she lends me.

For example mid corona time, i had to have gum surgery due to an old tooth infection, wich turned out to be 3 tooths, and i took out 2, needless to say my mom helped me with half of the apointments, i payed the surgery ones but then i needed follow up apointments so i wouldnt lose 4 more teeth. Apointments i canceled right away , beause i didnt have any money, and my mom being the mom that she is i always refuse her “ loans “ due to her being worse than a fucking stereotipical loan shark that takes that money back with interest, but in mental health and sanity. However she kept squedueling the apointments without me knowing, then tell me 1 day early, then get mad at me because id tell her i had no money so i told her to cancel and not make apointments without my consent and knowledge. This to wich she responded with screams , name calling , telling me to cancel myself and the general griefing of : “OK fine ill never help u with anything again “ / “ ok fine i dont care anymore then “, “ what you are too good to take my money is that it? “ Then when i standed my ground , proceeding to treat me miserably for the following week, demanding me to do random chores, just for the sake of punishing me , leaving dirty dishes of her own food acumulating so she could force me to do them and threaten me with a beating if i didnt, or making me wash the bathroom everyday for no reason.

With all this mess, half the money i had saved up + using it on the apointments and paying her back right away at the end of the month the consultations i owed her. I was left with 400 bucks.

Wich later on were also spent in dentist urgency apointments, because i kept having infections, psiquiatrist apointments and medicine and a laywer for the work harrassement situation, and then and there, all my money was gone.

The situation goes by, im home , receiving basic support for the medical leave, i pay my share of the bills and i do my own thing, however depression has gotten worse, my attacks have gotten worse, and everything just feels like rock bottom here.

These last 2 months, ive been trying so hard... so hard to get back on my feet, i was taking my medicine, i was taking a languague course, i was going to the doctor. I was really, really trying. Its funny how hard i was trying, for the first time in my life i was really trying to believe it could get better.

My mom was even acting nice and it almost seemed like she was really supporting me and trying.

December 23. Me and my mom go the psiquiatrist apointment for him to avaluate my condition. For the first time the apointment wasnt so heavy, it didnt leave me so weary from it. I finally believed. By the end of the consultation my doctor asks my mom to make sure i dont go back to that work place, because it might have a huge take on my life. My mom turns to the doctor and says : “ I know she cant go back , but she cant be unemployed either.” And the doctor says : “ I know, but if she goes back it can make her worse, we cant let that happend, its damaging her“ ( meaning she could kill herself, due to the last apointments conversation ) On to wich my mother replied : “ Well i cant be providing for us both with my money “.

When we arrived at the car i asked her why she said that and what she meant by that. And i told her that i pay for my food and that i pay for the things i eat that she buys ( wich is not much ) and that i also pay for half the bills.

To wich she agressivly threatned me to shut up and started yelling right away and acting like a victim with her mild aneurism that happend quite a few years ago in wich she HAS BEEN FULLY HEALED AND PERFECT HEALTHY, but always uses as an excuse to dodge the discussion after demanding certain shit or just plain insulting me. After a lot of lying and name calling and even telling me that i eat her food and that i live off of her. Into wich i replied, i dont always eat your food , and theres a lot of times when i dont eat and you yell at me and treat me badly for not eating your food wich led me to just eat cereals for months everyday as all 3  meals or not even eating and skipping meals for being too afraid of making my own food in the kitchen.

And so on... And i asked her what she wanted from me. And after a long car fight and a lot of gaslighting, she finnaly admitted she just wanted more money “ because if all your friends pay normal rent , you should too “ ( meaning a 450 rent ).

And then i just gave up and told her ok, ill pay you a full rent and i will also never toutch your food again. She laughed and made fun of me. And said : like ur even gonna buy your own food, you always use my things. to wich i asked what things? Oh you use my shampoo and toilet paper. To wich then i replied, everytime i buy toiler paper for me, you just take it as your own, and i dont use your shampoo or body wash i buy my own and i have been buying my own. And she just kept fighting me on it saying i do...and i told her i dont, if i by any chance dont have shampo ill use body wash as shampoo or vice versa. She just wanted to be right, so i just told her, ill pay you anything you want, i just dont wanna fight anymore im tired. To wich then she just kept saying “ oh now ur just trowing a fit “ And i sayd to her, why me agreing to what u ask and calmly shutting up to not fight anymore , how is that trowing a fit? i just gave you what you wanted, you dont need to be angry anymore.

And she just kept going at it, trying to poke my nerves until i just completly yelled and when crazy. The she acted like a victim again.

I am so drained, i am so tired....

After that discussion it was just 10 minutes of silence. I made a decision. That woman is not my mother anymore.

She wants to be a landlord so bad, she will be one.

My mother has died.

After a few minutes almost home , she decides to turn the “ mother mode “ on, and goes like “ oh you have to go to the doctor blah blah lets get your medicine etc. And i just told her, no. Ill go to the doctor on my own means, and ill buy the medicine when i have money.

Obviously she completly dismissed what i sayd and tried to drive me to the doctor and the pharmacy. After a few NO’s , she went home.

I got home, i took care of my things and i sorted out my doctors paperwork, she tries to come into my room, and acting like a worried mother like : “ oh did you do this -- etc” ( what i was already doing ) and i just told her, to stop. That she doesnt get to “ talk to me about those things anymore, or about my buisness.

Shes not my mother anymore. She doesnt get to act like a mother do just order me around and controll me. She is just a landlord now.

A few hours later, shes wrapping up presents and asks me to do it and asks me for my gifts wrapping thingies, and i told her no. Immediatly got mad at me and kept trowing provocative comments. And i told her, i didnt want any xmas gift from her, and that i wouldnt be spending xmas with her.

She made that usual smirk she mades when she sees me upset.

Taylor comes from a rich family who lives in England. He does have anger issues. Everytime something doesn’t go his way, he can get mad for anything and become mean to people.
