When I mentioned Dream and Sapnap bonded when they were really young in the dtk+ dragon au, I mean that Dream woke up one night to the sound of Sapnap’s egg hatching, went to check on him, and found a little baby hatchling blinking up at him. The bond was instant, and Dream just picked lil baby Sap up and tucked him into his nest before curling up around him.

Sapnap literally imprinted on Dream.

Dragon imprints last for a couple of years and are there so hatchlings have an adult to run to and rely on in case of danger and to care for them. Obviously Bad was meant to be the dragon Sapnap imprinted on, but even tho he wasn’t he still of course was the one who took care of all of Sapnap’s needs. Sapnap would just fuzz and struggle if Dream wasn’t around and the moment he was set free to do as he pleased he would be toddling after Dream. The moment he got spooked he would dive under Dream’s baby fluff and he was generally pretty much attached to the older hatchling.

Dream didn’t at all mind, he’s just a couple of years older than Sapnap and was mostly just excited to have a new potential friend, taking his role as Sapnap’s “protector” very seriously. 

They practically did everything together, and twenty-something years later Sapnap is still following after Dream, and Dream will still curl up around him when they sleep <3

This is all..really interesting and..exciting? Well at least for Soul, Blackstar, and you. And possibly Kid?

Anywho, Dr. Stein had informed the class about a new classmate, who was Lord Death’s own son. You and your two friends loved some action and a challenge so why not give this fellow classmate of yours a nice greeting?

You and Soul had your fair share with a battle together, you two are rather close to one another. If Blackstar isn’t there with y’all, then it’s just you and Soul. Soul prefers to be alone with you rather then Blackstar being there

So, here you three boys are, skipping Dr Steins class to go and take on this new classmate.

It wasn’t long before you came into contact with Kid. You were really stunned, you didn’t expect to see such a handsome boy..and he’s gonna be coming to this school? He’s gonna be in your class? That’s a blessing right there. Just…pure. At first you didn’t want to fight him at all because you didn’t want to damage that beauty of course. But you really did want to fight him though..just don’t aim for the face then it will be just fine.

When Blackstar ends up breaking one of the red spikes on the DWMA while giving out his awesome speech, this sets Kid off immediately. He’s complaining about the symmetry…

Your a lone weapon without a meister, upon seeing that, Kid couldn’t help but be all so curious. You’re a weapon that doesn’t have no meister at all, fighting on your very own. Shouldn’t you have a meister now..? That isn’t important right now, he has to take down the three of you.

All four of you got into fighting stance, preparing for battle. The tension between y’all was thick and intense as you all stared daggers at one another.

When Soul and you was going in to do y’all’s first move..you ended up getting pierced in the damn head. Blackstar jumped in and tried to pick Soul, who was in his weapon form up but..he couldn’t. If Soul was so heavy then how in the world did Maka swing him around as if he was a fidget spinner?

Yeah…this wasn’t going as planned as it should’ve went. Were you guys even taking this seriously one bit?? Even if you were it sure did not look like it..

BROMANCE INCOMING…or is it?🧐

“Y/n…it’s over between us.” When you heard those words fall out of Soul’s mouth, you stared in disbelief..is he really breaking up with you at a time like this?

This is all so sad for the two of you. Having to spilt up away from each other like this..it’s heartwenching..it’s terrible.

Stein, Maka, and Tsubaki are all looking at the two of you as if they are watching a dramatic sad scene in a romance story.

Kid was just standing there with his guns, asking if he could shoot the two of them now. But Liz told him to hold it on back.

“Okay Soul…I understand..but..is it okay if we stay friends?” You asked him, looking away with a hand ok the back of your head. Your eyes widened when you saw Soul running to you, he wanted to be friends again!!!

You two began running towards each other so dramatically..so romantically. This was a dream come true, you two did NOT break up, you two are back together. Blackstar is running towards yall as well..

You all crash into each others arms as you all hugged each other tightly.

You all fall to the ground. This is due to Kid shooting his guns at the three of you, ending the bromance.

Y’all’s wavelength sucked like hell so you guys decided to attack Kid individually. Different and various moves were across the entrance of the school as you three were going right on at it.

You were trying to avoid hitting Kid’s face of course, you didn’t want to knock the beauty out of him.

Despite the three of you fighting with all your might, it was obvious that you three were losing as well. Kid was way more faster and flexible out of the three of you, as well as being able to have access to far distance with his twin pistols. It also didn’t help that the three of you were pitiful morons…

The fight is coming to a closure when Kid is so sick and tired of all the mess going on, fooling around. Kid decided to do his signature drop down to shoot you. You and Kid were so close to one another. Very close.

You felt heat rise to your face as your face was painted to red much to Kid’s surprise. You threw your head back as blood came out of your nose as you fell onto your back so asymmetrically.

Everyone just kinda stood there as you got a nosebleed. Kid just kept on holding his guns as he stood there staring at you. Now why on earth would you get a nosebleed? How did you get one? Why did it happen?

Black star immediately darted over to your body and started to shake you furiously, asking if you were okay and how they will kill Kid, shaking you all around. Soul on the other hand scoffed as he looked away…I think he knows why you got a nosebleed. He wished he didn’t. Feeling a little jealous…

you recently enrolled at the dwma, aka the “Death Weapon Meister Academy”. this is because a few years ago, you were friends with two girls; liz and patty.

liz and patty talked about wanting to go to this school before you guys drifted a part, so you decided to enroll at the dwma, hoping to see them once again.

“Hey, y/n!” you hear a high pitched voice call out.

soon you see two pigtails and a tall figure running towards you.

“Liz, Patty!” you exclaim while hugging your old friends.

after a bit of catching up, liz and patty decide to show you around the campus.

“I never thought you’d enroll here, y/n.” liz says while walking out towards the balcony.

“Yeah, me too! It’s nice to see you again, though!” patty adds on.

“I planned to after we all part ways. I wanted to see you guys again.” you respond.

while you all were conversing on the balcony, you saw a boy inside the school, an attractive one. he seemed to be around your age, with white hair and red eyes.

you took a moment to analyze his features before you saw another boy walking alongside him.

this one had black hair, one side having three white stripes on it. he had yellow eyes and a small frame.

“damn, he’s attractive too.” you thought to yourself.

patty saw you looking at the two boys and decided to call them over.

before you could protest, they were already walking towards you guys.

“Just so you know, the one with white hair is Soul, and the one with black hair is Kid.” liz whispers to you before pushing you in front of her.

“Hey Kid, hey Soul.” patty starts.

“This is y/n, she’s an old friend of ours.” she says while pointing at you.

“Sup, y/n. I’m Soul.” soul says, his eyes scanning your body.

“Y/n. Liz and Patty have spoken about you before, it’s nice to finally meet you. I’m Kid, as most people call me.” kid says.

“It’s nice to meet you both as well, I didn’t know this school would have so many attractive...students.” you flirtily respond with a smile.

this made kid’s eyes go wide, he did NOT expect you to be like this, so flirty.

he kinda liked it though, and you could tell with how red his face got.

soul, on the other hand, just smirked and said “Yeah, I know, right?”.

even though soul had a cocky response, you caught the ligh blush that was spread across his face.

he’d definitely be harder to fluster, but you didn’t mind a challenge. plus, kid was easy enough to fluster, it was almost funny.

Could I request a kind a lengthy one? Most of this is legit just fluff context and shit. lol. You can call "Angel of Death and Grief"

So, basically, background info first, Asura never turned evil, and he, Lord Death, and Dtk were super close as a family. Also, full fledged Grim Reapers has super big black wings, like from that Wings au fic Mortally requested. Because of the this, Reapers are alternatively called Angels of Death. Another bit, a Fragment has to have a certain size of their soul by the time the current Grim Reaper dies, so they could safely take in the power that transfers. One last thing: Grim Reapers are extremely social creatures inside their species, so if they're separated/abandoned/orphaned too early, it's really detrimental to their mental health. (Oh and fully Fledged grim reapers' bodies may change with their emotion/mentality if it's strong enough.)

Now, onot the main bit: Three years before the main fic, Lord Death and Asura just straight up disappeared when Kid was 10, like as in, wiped from existence somehow. (Nobody knows why, but there were rumours of Witch involvement.) It's pretty much guaranteed they're dead. How do they know? Well, all of the power of Lord Death and Asura just kinda dumped onto Kid at once. Because of not only the sudden power dump from his father, but his brother as well, and the fact that his soul was way unprepared for it, not to mention since this was before he got any demon weapons (Liz and Patty), it uh, kinda went to shit. Kid's soul swelled way past the limit he was able to handle, so because of that his powers are extremely powerful, but at the same time he has ZERO control over them. Wings suddenly came in, like four-five times his size and he can't move nor use them what-so-ever unless he has a serious bout of emotion. It caused his soul to become disfigured, so whilst his Sanzu lines on the right side of his head are fine, the other side is visible fractured and messy remnants of lines.

Oh, also, he's like mentally fucked. The shock of grief, power, and responsibility having been forced onto him makes him hyper-focus on his grief, so his body changed to match that. His eyes are an inky black, with his cheeks stained the same colour in the shape of falling tears. His body has a hole in his chest, to reflect the overbearing pain of grief. He refuses to speak anything other than the language Grim Reapers use, Spirit usually hangs around to translate for people, and Kid has a sort of attachment to SPirit as well, as he was his father's weapon. He is mentally unable to accept the fact his Father and brother are most likely dead, speaking as if they'll just be back one day. He refers to himself often as "broken", "ugly abomination" stuff like that, he also sometimes talks in nearly incomprehensible riddles that is always answered with some variation of the word "Burn". (In reference to burning a witch.). Death City refers to him not as Lord Death, or an ANgel of Death, but as "The Angel of Bereavement", which is the period of grief and mourning after a death. Kid in now 13.

Now, the actual fic part, oml, sorry for the essay HAHA--

Write about Soul and Maka (not a ship) meeting Kid for the first time after they mistake Blair for a Witch. Have Spirit act as a translater, and have them have a lengthy conversation over tea.

Wowza! This one was intense, but I love all of the thought you put into it!

Angel of Death and Grief AU:

Maka and Soul had heard plenty about the grim reaper in charge of the DWMA. There were always plenty of rumors, and since her dad was acting as a caretaker since he was the only death scythe around, she’d been able to hear about the accuracy of some of these rumors and was able to hear about the tragedies he’d been through. Her father didn’t like to go into details though, and she had never met this reaper before. 

Her dad had been put in charge of contacting students about their progress in hunting kishins and witches so even though she hated it, Maka had to put up with meeting with her father on the regular. This was fine with Spirit, since he adored his daughter, but he was under a lot of stress with the amount of responsibility he had to take on these past three years. 

For the most part, he would be the one to help track students' progress in becoming death scythes and he would try to get Kid to grow into the responsibility. Kid would help here and there, but always under the guise of “pleasing father and brother when they return”. Spirit couldn’t even bring himself to try and convince Kid that his family wasn’t coming home. That had proven itself pointless. Still, the overwhelming spike in power and that deep connection that was felt between Kid and the loss of his family stunted his growth in a way where he couldn’t do much at all. The only time he would allow himself to be seen was if a weapon had finally grown to become a death scythe.

When Maka had called her dad after a fight that she and Soul thought would be their last, it was just going to be to tell him the mission failed and see what the two of them could do in order to get back on track now that they had to restart all of their progress. What she hadn’t expected was her father to tell her that this reaper wanted to meet with them. No one but her father had seen him in the past three years. Still, the two of them couldn’t turn down the offer, so they agreed that when they arrived back at the academy, they would join the two of them for tea.

“The Angel of Bereavement” is what everyone had begun to call this reaper. The rumors of a wave of power so strong that it had altered his appearance were found to be true. Maka and Soul were terrified when they entered the Death Room. He sat at an elegant dining table, and appeared to be horrifically injured.

Maka and Soul had met Asura and Lord Death before their disappearance. They had seen the two of them flying with large raven-like wings and had seen just how different they were from humans. This however, was far from what the other two reapers looked like. His wings were so large that they sunk onto the ground and even with them folded, they were still twice the size of the table they were seated at. Parts of his wings looked broken and the two of them couldn’t figure out if they were just like that, or if they had gotten hurt because he couldn’t hold them up.

His eyes were pitch black, even the scleras, and the deep emptiness in them was jarring to see. He had inky blackness running down his cheeks that made it seem like he was crying. His chest seemed to have a large void in the center of it, as if someone had physically ripped through his heart, and left nothing. 

Maka and Soul sat quietly, taking in the sight of this tragic grim reaper before them. The reaper gives them a polite smile and then Maka turns to Spirit.

“Dad, if you have other stuff to work on, I think that Soul and I will be fine,” she says.

Spirit sighs, shaking his head.

“I guarantee you’ll need me here,” he tells them.

“Huh? What do you mean by that?” Soul asks.

The reaper speaks then, his voice is quiet and eerie but as the two of them listen, they realize nothing he said actually sounded like words.

“He said that it’s fine if I stay,” Spirit translates.

“Oh… so this is what the language of grim reapers sounds like? Does he not speak any other language?”

“Why would I need to? When father and brother make it home, I’ll never need to have a translator. It will be a beautiful day when they return,” the reaper speaks and Spirit translates for Maka and Soul.

“Wait, but I thought that Asura and Lord Death were de-” Soul gets cut off by a sharp look from Spirit. 

“Sorry about that. What Soul was trying to say was that Asura and Lord Death speak other languages too, right?” Maka intervenes. 

“Yes, they are quite amazing in that regard. I can speak your language too, but I feel that it is entirely unnecessary. I only ever want to speak to my father and brother. I find little value in speaking with humans. Though it seems most humans would never wish to speak to the abomination that is me,” he says.

Maka and Soul nod politely, sipping the tea that had been set out in front of them.

“Then why do you wanna talk to us?” Soul asks. “Doesn’t that contradict what you just said?” 

“Yes, it does. I am a horribly broken creature and I can’t seem to keep consistent. However- I need a favor and the two of you intrigue me.”

“You need a favor from us? How can we help?” Maka asks, trying to stay as polite as she can and not stare at every way this reaper has visibly been desecrated.

“My father and brother have been gone… for so very long. I miss them deeply and I believe that witches may be behind their disappearance. The two of you came so very close to creating a death scythe. I could feel the power starting to grow within you. I want you to find them. Find my father and brother and bring them back. Any witch that stands in your way is free to be burned to death. If you do this and successfully bring back my family, I will grant you power beyond what you can imagine.”

The two of them pause, staring at this reaper, before slowly meeting each other's gaze. It was clear that the two of them were concerned. Maka looks to her father. He seems a bit shocked himself at this request, but doesn’t say anything. Maka turns back to the reaper.

“What if we aren’t able to bring your family back?” she asks.

“Then you will have to start your journey from the beginning again. I will not punish you if you can’t bring them back, though I only accept death as failure. If you choose to abandon this request or refuse to take it, then you will continue to mean nothing to me. However, father always told me that there is beauty in humanity and I see something in the two of you that shines brighter than any human I have seen before. I truly believe that if there is any human to help my family, it would be you.”

Maka turns to Soul again.

“This sounds like we might be walking to our grave,” Soul says. “Still, I can’t think of a reason outside of that for why we should say no.”

“I agree,” Maka replies. “If anything, it’s a chance to try and help.”

They turn back and face him once more, determination in their eyes.

“Alright. We’ll do it!” Maka tells him.

The reaper gives them a smile, one so unsettling that they can’t be sure it isn’t laced in malice. Still, how could they refuse to help a grieving kid who just misses his family.

“Thank you. From the bottom of my heart, you have my gratitude. Perhaps, when my family returns, we might be able to get along as proper friends. We are about the same age. I think father would be very happy to see me getting along with others,” he says as he extends a hand.

Maka reaches out hesitantly, giving a final glance at Spirit, who still says nothing about his own thoughts. She grabs the reaper’s hand and gives it a firm shake. It was terrifying, actually feeling the power that emanated from him. When she returned to drinking her tea, she realized she was trembling. Still, she wanted to find a way to help. Even if she could find a way to confirm their deaths, maybe it would help this reaper begin to heal. She wasn’t sure, but she couldn’t refuse to try.

“Right. Then we should start right away, don’t you think, Soul?” she asks, trying to hide the fear she held.

“Yeah, it’s not like we have anything else planned now. Well then, do you have any leads for us? Or do we have to start from scratch?”

The reaper grins again and it sends another chill up the duo’s spines. He reaches down next to him, picking up a large bag and pulling out a folder with a small spider stamped onto it.

“I’m glad you asked.”

AY22/23 Sem 2 Module Reviews

The overloading sem. I initially took 32MCs but I dropped to 24MC by week 5 because I couldn’t cope with the workload. It was difficult to simply adopt an S/U mindset and I found myself with very little free time. I also felt like I couldn’t enjoy the extra mods I took out of interest, so the overloading didn’t feel worth it. As a DSA major, I took HSH1000, HSI10000, DTK1234, MA2001 (which were pre-allocated to me because I was even-digit). I also bid for ST2131 (because a lot of DSA major mods have it as a prerequisite) and SP1541 (to S/U).

Other Comments:

Most people dread this module, and for good reason. This mod is just a lot of fluff and you’ll need good smoking and bullshitting skills to do well, no cap. The ILAs are generally quite doable and you don’t need much time except Segment 1 ILA. The TBWs are either worksheets and class participation through activities and discussions during the fortnightly tutorials. You might find some other reviews saying that how well you do depends on how much your T/A likes you. While I don’t advocate sucking up to your T/A, I think it doesn’t hurt to talk and connect with your T/A, and just participate actively in tutorials :)) As for the module content itself, it really is a lot of fluff and talks about the different phases and steps in design thinking. Just use common sense to figure out how to smoke and “relate” the design thinking concepts to your user and your solutions/problem statements. The DTJ is an extension of this, so you’re expected to reflect and consolidate whatever you learnt or did. Just to be clear, the interim and final DTJ are the same document, just that you do like the first half of the DTJ in the interim, and you do the second half + revise the earlier parts from interim based on your T/As feedback. There’s also a 100 sec video that you have to submit in the final DTJ.

I’m honestly quite meh about this module. I think the texts covered are interesting but way too long (80-100 ish pages especially for Gandhi and Xunzi). Most people complain a lot about the quizzes whenever HSH is mentioned, and rightfully so. The quizzes are incredibly painful to do, if you actually try to do them well. You have to understand and analyse/scrutinise the texts and lecture recordings. Here’s a snippet of my work process for the quizzes:

Attempt the quiz myself, with justifications for each choice (whether a statement is right or wrong) written down

Discuss the quiz with my group, and note down the group’s consensus+justifications - this generates Attempt 1 of the quiz (note: you get 3 attempts for each quiz (best score of 3 taken), if Prof Loy is nice he might give an extra attempt)

Analyse Prof Loy’s written replies in the forum to all the hardworking students that asked questions about the quiz. Gather the quiz answers from two of my friends who’ve discussed with their own groups.

Psycho-analyse everything with one of the two friends while taking everything into consideration - justifications for a selection, what Prof Loy says, tele poll (take with a pinch of salt though), the answers generated between the 3 groups. This generates Attempt 2 and 3 (we used the two attempts for different permutations of the answers we weren’t confident about)

I initially put the tele poll answers for one of my attempts, but they were consistently lower than my Attempt 1 and 2. You can probably get a median score if you follow the tele poll, but to really do well I feel that you really need a good group of friends to discuss with. More importantly, you and your group should ideally justify/discuss the quiz answers factually or based on some grounded reasoning (eg. this was said during the lecture/shown on the lecture slides, or this appeared/did not appear in the text and in the context of the chapter/paragraphs, this deduction makes sense). Btw you don’t have to read the whole text before trying the quiz, just watch the lecture recording for a general understanding first, and ctrl-f and read the paragraphs around the paragraph discussed in the quiz sections. As for the rest of the mod, it’s pretty easy. There are tutorials every fortnight, and you have to submit 3 annotations on Perusall before every tutorial (this counts for your tutorial preparation marks). Tutorial participation was very chill, because we would all get full marks as long as we turned up and we all contributed during the group discussions. Tutorials with Nick Loo were quite fun and you can tell that he’s passionate about the mod. He would usually go through some interesting questions and responses by us from Perusall, and then go through some content and skills before making us discuss questions in our groups. Overall, tutorials in HSH are a lot more chill than HSA or HSS where tutorial participation is more harshly graded.

Group Discussion Summaries (GDS) were 400 word responses to one of the three or four questions given. It’s quite OTOT, your group just has to submit it by the week after the tutorial. Your experience with this portion will vary depending on your groupmates. I had very hardworking and smart groupmates so this was easy, while one of my friends had to tank the GDS because his group was lazy and uncooperative. GDS was usually a 2 hour affair every even-week weekend night. Most people should get full marks or close to full marks for GDS anyway. Chop chop finish to focus on your other stuff~

The final project has two versions, a generic one provided by Prof Loy, and a T/A specific one. Choose the T/A one (duh bc your T/A is gonna be the one marking). Mine was on exhibit curation, so I had to do a 700-word write up on two exhibit artefacts chosen for a theme related to what was discussed in any of the texts (you can choose your theme). I did mine on passive resistance which was discussed in Gandhi, then in the writeups I expounded on how each artefact showcased passive resistance in their own way, and linked it back to its relevance to society/me, ala HSA1000 style.

I think this module started out really promising, with very useful skills like the Baloney Toolkit, but it progressively got more boring and fluff. The workshops and labs were super annoying because they were in 3 hour blocks, so timetabling was difficult.

The weekly quizzes are very doable, just watch the lectures/read the notes and attempt. You get 10 attempts per quiz anyway, and you can see your results on Examsoft right after your submission, so you can tell if you’ve hit full marks or not. I used about 3-4 attempts every quiz. You should aim to get full marks for the quizzes because most people would be getting full marks anyway.

The labs and workshops are also quite chill. The labs are slightly easier because you just go there and play do the experiments, and fill up a vanguard sheet with explanations, drawing and other details about your thought process in the experiments. The workshops are also okay, you just need to participate actively and do whatever’s required. Workshop 3 had a field work component, so during recess week, my friend and I went to Labrador Nature Park and Labrador Nature Reserve to gather data and photos (they will have instructions on what to do). The field trip and report was (in my opinion) the most sian part of the module, because I was already so busy but I still have to go all the way to Labrador to measure tree heights??? Well anyway for the workshops, most people seemed to get about 7-8/10. And I have to say that my workshop T/A, Sankar, is a very chill guy who loves animals, he’s super funny too so the workshops are always fun.

Midterms and finals are the differentiating components. They are open-book, closed-internet exams, and you do it on Examplify (the same as the weekly quizzes). You only have 2 minutes per question for both exams, so ctrl-ing F everything isn’t going to work. You have to roughly know the course content, and know which lecture notes to ctrl-F from. Also, from Lecture 7 onwards, the lecture notes weren’t that helpful, and for Block 3 no lecture slides were given. For Block 3 especially, you have to watch the lectures and take down notes, and also save the information about certain policies (like SGP2030) from online because these are tested but only mentioned in passing in the lectures. I recommend collaborating with friends to split the workload in making the lecture notes. Try to get notes from seniors as well, because these can be useful. Overall, the tests weren’t super difficult for my semester.

I have a confession to make. Despite my grade for this mod, I still feel like I suck at linear algebra. I found vector spaces (chapter 3 and 4) to be the toughest because it was difficult to understand the rationale behind the various matrix operations as well as the mathematical terminologies. I feel that if you can understand vector spaces, the rest of the topics are quite manageable.

The workload is generally okay, you have two 2 hour lectures every week, as well as a 1 hour tutorial every week. You’re allowed to tutorial-hop and you can attend any tutorial slot you like, even if it’s not the one you registered for on ModReg. I took full advantage of this, and by a stroke of luck, the first tutorial I went to was Zekun’s. I found his teaching to be very effective, and he even offers consults to students. Guys please take full advantage of your T/As hahah make them work for their $40/hr pay but Zekun was very helpful and I feel that I learnt a lot from his tutorials. Of course, make sure you attempt the tutorial questions before tutorials (which are selected textbook questions) to maximise your learning.

The 4 homework assignments given often have a few difficult questions, and I highly recommend checking your answers with friends to make sure you didn’t make any mistakes. As with most math mods, the median for the homework is usually quite high, either full marks or a few marks from few marks so it is paramount that you try and secure close to full marks if possible.

Midterms and finals were generally quite tough. I didn’t do very well for midterms, I got 32/50 when the average was 29, upper quartile was 35. I think it was due to a lack of understanding of vector spaces, plus computational errors can really cause you to get penalised. I focused a lot on proving questions by practising the textbook questions, but the paper was mainly computational questions (like 34 marks out of 50), while only 6 marks were proving and 10 marks true-false questions. For finals, there were 70% computational, 20% proving and 10% true-false questions, so I changed my strategy and tried all the past-year papers and selected textbook questions to really make sure I get the computational questions right. These are quite standard so you just have to learn the different ways they ask the questions and you should be fine. Don’t worry too much about the proving questions, most people can’t do them anyway, but to really do well, you shouldn’t leave these questions blank. For the true-false questions, if you don’t know just guess and pray that luck is on your side lol.

I can only say that making full use of my T/A, working together with friends and a strategy of focusing on computational questions plus whacking and brute-forcing my way through the tough parts of the paper is probably how I could get the grade that I got.

This module basically teaches you how to turn research articles (which are meant for specialist readers) into popular science news articles for common people like you and me. They introduce you to various science communication strategies like explanatory strategies and evaluative language.

I didn’t like this module and it had quite a heavy workload. Two 2 hour sectionals every week and you’re expected to do readings and prepare some answers for the discussion questions. This module is just very dry and not enjoyable :( As for my tutor, I don’t really have much comments, she was helpful and answered all of our questions. But yes this module is really boring and I don’t think her style of teaching helped.

I honestly put very little effort into the assignments because I was planning to SU, and especially after I got 66.3/100 for my first science news article submission. They do take some time to do, especially if you’re planning not to SU as you might have to go through a few drafts. You may consider consulting the NUS Libraries Writers’ Centre. I didn’t bother because I wanted to focus on my other modules. For my second science news article which I really didn’t change much and just added some stuff that was required, I got an even more tragic 65.6/100 lol. Ironically, my book chapter reflection and reflective commentary got really high marks at 94/100 and 90/100 respectively (not me spending only 30 minutes on the 300-word reflective commentary :’)

The 8-10 minute oral presentation (I got 71.3/100) which is based on your chosen science news article isn’t terribly hard, just do your best and try to be natural, don’t use any scripts. How natural you are depends on your knowledge about your chosen research article topic, so choose well.

This mod is really just self-study lol. Prof was quite good at explaining stuff and he would elaborate on stuff with detail so you won’t get lost. However, be warned that the Prof is essentially a boomer the Prof speaks quite slowly and you’ll probably be better off watching his recorded lectures at x2 speed.

I have,,,no words for the tutorials. My T/A was so bad that I don’t know and don’t want to know her name. She was basically talking to her computer the whole tutorial and didn’t explain stuff clearly. I tried giving her a second chance and went up to ask her questions about some of the working after the lesson, but her explanations are very confusing and I left the tutorial room even more confused than when I entered the room .__. I ended up tutorial-hopping and going to the Prof’s tutorial slot instead, which was much better, though there was another T/A who I felt I liked best but unfortunately I was not always free for his timeslots. Anyway the tutorial questions are taken from the textbook and the tutorial answers are uploaded on Canvas so a lot of my friends ended up skipping the tutorials and self-studying.

Quizzes were generally okay except for the last quiz. I got 2/5 for the last quiz (oof) and it seemed like most people got around 2-3/5 also. It was tough because it covered chapter 6 and 7 which were difficult topics, and we probably didn’t have enough practice. Also another comment on the quizzes is that they are mainly in the second half of the semester (the quizzes were held online over the weekend of week 5, 8, 10, 12) which added a lot of unnecessary stress because the second half of the semester tends to have more assignments for other modules. It also didn’t make sense to leave the chapter 1 quiz to week 5, chapter 2 to week 8, chapter 3-4 to week 10. I would have liked a more even distribution of the quizzes over the semester. We were warned not to discuss quiz questions but tbh the quiz questions are mostly the same, usually with different values in the questions, so :)

The midterms were quite easy, and most people scored well for it. Contrary to some other sources, the median was about 22-24 according to the Prof (I heard it from the horse’s mouth). I got 27/30 which was decent but not amazing.

Finals is, as usual, the make or break. I did both the textbook questions (with solutions found online) and the past-year papers, but I think the past-year papers had very different topics and different focus areas and I couldn’t do most of the past-year papers. (Do note that this mod is run by the math department in the first semester, so avoid all sem 1 papers if you’re taking it in sem 2.) I went for a group zoom consult with the prof, armed with a few past-year papers I was unsure of and even he didn’t know the approach to answer the questions. That was the moment I realised that doing the past-year papers were probably not helpful and I should focus on the tutorial questions along with the textbook practice questions. In the finals, the first 3 questions were quite easy and standard, but the last 3 questions were apparently difficult for most people. As it turned out, 2 of the 3 questions appeared in the textbook practice questions in a similar fashion, and I was able to answer them pretty well I think. I only didn’t know how to do the last question which was a proving question. I essentially left it blank :/ But I thought most people would have found the paper easy because the ‘difficult’ questions weren’t really unseen, guess not hahah

Thinking about the dragon au, one of my favourite things about my saurian dragons is that they’re hatched fluffy and they don’t lose their fluff until they become teens and develop into one of the four classes.

Soul and Kid planned this out HEAVILY. Very heavy, making sure that there weren’t any bits or pieces missing from their ultimate plan. They’ve been planning this for awhile now and somehow they managed to keep it hidden from you and their friends without any of them suspecting funny business going on.

Like what I mean by they planned this out heavily, they started with dirt and a stick and started to doodle their plan which progressed to pencil and paper.

They were onto something, something devious, something very fruity.

Their plan was to take you out on a secretive date. Without telling you, at all. At first thought, they thought that it was a bad idea but after some thinking they adapted to that idea and making it become a good one, but they are gonna have to stay on high ground if they want to do this.

When the time soon came, they were ON it. They stayed locked in, they knew their lines, knew when to come out, knew when it was time, knew everything cause they planned it all out, no tweaking out, just lock in. And your over here not knowing what’s going on, you don’t want what’s coming for you. You don’t know that your two best friends are planning to take you out on a secret date. How amazing is that?

When Soul walks over to you with his hands in his pockets, not looking suspicious, he asks you if you wanted to go have a boys night out with just him and Kid, out to eat. You were confused due to it being a school night, wouldn’t Maka send Soul into a concussion for being so careless due to him wanting a boy night on a school night? When you asked him that Soul just shrugged, he didn’t care. Oh well, ain’t like you have somebody waiting for you at home…yet.

You said yes of course, having a boys night out with your two cool friends is nice, especially when your gonna eat. Soul gave you the details of the time, where, etc.

When Soul reported back to Kid, it was now Kid’s time to shine. He was gonna butter you up a little bit, get you excited, even more excited then you already were. Saying how you can order whatever you want, you don’t have to pay ANYTHING, and you can just order off the whole menu if you want. Make you feel like you got the freedom.

When Kid told you this, you were thrilled. Free food? Free drink? No payment? No check? Nothing? Now that’s a big YES. You kept asking him to make sure if he was being like so serious and he had to tell you that he was like 8 times just for symmetrical reasons. Not to mention it was a FIVE star restaurant? Okay, gonna spoil you from head to toe.

After school was over you dashed to your house and put on your best suit and tie and shoes, straightening yourself up to completion, you were so excited and you were starving, you didn’t even eat lunch!

It was around the time that Soul said he’d pick you up. You were waiting outside, looking as sharp as ever. You saw a familiar motorcycle pull up and you knew that it was Soul.

You greeted him with a high five and Soul just stared at you, you look so handsome in your suit. He was so lost in thought that he forgot that he was supposed to be done drove off now. You snapped him out of his thoughts by hitting him in the back of the head.

The two of you pulled up at the restaurant, you saw kid who was looking sharp as always, greeting the two of you with a smile, but his eyes wandered off to you, complimenting you by saying how your looking symmetrically handsome with a wink, this made you slightly blush as you let out a small chuckle.

The three of you got seated and you started to look at the menu, looking for something good to eat and drink, maybe even treat yourself to some yummy dessert. While you were checking that out, Soul and Kid started using morse code to communicate to each other.

“So…Y/n.” Soul said, leaning back in his chair. You gave him a hum in response. “Your looking really sharp, did ya want to impress us or something?” Soul asked with a smirk that was showing his sharp teeth. Your face turned a little red as you rolled your eyes. “So?” You said. Kid joined in. “Well, you really showed yourself. I only thought that you had that suit that you wore for my party that day. Apparently, you had something far more alluring if I do say so myself.” Kid said. What was going on with them? Why were they saying all these things. Your face got hotter as you shook your head.

The waiter came and took the three of your orders, going back to get the drinks first and inform the cooks about your meal.

“..Soul,” You started. “Why would you order chicken tenders at a five star restaurant.” You said as you stared at him from the side. “What’s wrong wit that?” Soul asked, shrugging. “…nevermind.” You said monotonously.

“Oh come on, Y/n.” Soul said as he rolled his eyes with a smirk. “Are you upset that I ordered chicken tenders? Black Star orders them all the time.” Soul said.

“It’s a five star restaurant…plus Kid’s paying!”

“Oh hold on-I only said that I was paying for YOU.”

“…So you didn’t want to pay for me as well?” Soul frowned at Kid. “Of course I don’t, I only pay for handsome guys, and you definitely one of them.” Soul gave Kid an offended look. “Yeah!-wait hold on—“ You were gonna agree with Kid but when you realized what he meant by that you blushed heavily. The waiter gave you all your drinks.

“I mean..I can’t disagree with you on that,” Soul said with a shrug. “y/n is really good-looking not gonna lie.” Soul said as he gave you a smirk. You groaned and covered your face. “Oh would you stop that crap?!” You said, gritting your teeth. Kid nodded with a small chuckle. “Honestly Y/n, you are really good for the eyes. I cant stop staring at you.” Kid said.

What was going on with them? Like actually, what the heck. They were acting more fruity then usual and it’s making you very suspicious of them. Like what in the world is going on here!?

The waiter then brought you all your meals and you immediately dug in. The food was so good, you felt like you were gonna cry due to how good the food was. That’s what you expected in a five star restaurant anyway.

“Y/n, can I some of your food?” Soul suddenly asked. You gave him a side eye and gritted your teeth. “Eat your chicken tenders..” you muttered out, earning a grown from Soul. “But these aren’t warm! And it’s pink on the inside!” Soul scoffed. “You didn’t even bite it!” “I can tell that it’s pink on the inside and cold! Look at it!”

Your face was flushed as you growled at Soul. “Fine, you can eat some since you wasting food. Over here saying that stupid stuff at a FIVE STAR restaurant.” You said. “Oh but I don’t got no fork!” Soul said with a shrug. “Can I still have some tho?” You stared at him for a long time in til you just nodded. Kid chuckled at this, crossing his arms. “Y’know Y/n,” Kid said. “How about you eat some of mine? It ain’t no biggy.” Kid said as he held out his fork. You blushed as you shook your head.

“Y’know what, forget it. I want dessert and ima get dessert since this shark looking-“

“No bad words.” Soul said with a mouth stuffed a food. “Also stop with the names, it highly offensive to me and I don’t appreciate it.” “Of course it’s offensive to you, you related to the Megalodan💀”

When the waiter came back you got to eat your dessert, enjoying every single bit of it. Soon Kid also got the bill and…we don’t speak about the amount of money. The three of you started to walk out, but you then wanted to ask them about why they were acting so weird tonight…yeah, you’ll ask that.

“Yo,” You said. “Why were y’all acting so weird? Like y’all were acting really fruity back there.” You said as you crossed your arms, blushing from the mention of what happened. Soul and Kid got nervous as their faces also turned red. They didn’t cover up for this..they were missing something.

“Okay…we’ll be honest to you on this..” Kid started clearing hus throat. “It was..this was supposed to be a secret date between the three of us. But we didn’t tell you because…yeah…”

“We just homies like that…🌚” Soul added to the silence after what Kid said.

You stood there in complete shock as your face turns millions of shades of red. “WHAT!?” You were shocked, surprised, and flustered. Did they really plan all that out!? How long have they been planning this!? How long!? When? Where? How? There? What? The five W’s from language arts type stuff. “I GOT TO GO SEE YALL TOMORROW!!!” You shouted as you ran down the street. “WAIT I CAN DRIVE YOU BACK!” Soul shouted. “I DONT NEED YOU! GOODNIGHT.”

When you got to your house, panting as you unlocked the door and slammed it closed behind you. You stood there for a moment…for a good moment too. You were shocked that they had pulled that off..but also…happy? Even though it was a secretive date..you had a good time. You had fun…it was all very interesting. You kinda…you kinda want to do it again sometime, but maybe an actual date would do.

Hello! Firstly, thank you so much! Sorry, this is super late (I say that a lot) but I’ve been thinking over this a lot. 

General warning that there are mentions of violence (kinda) and this is a lengthy boy.

Kid could only hear the pounding of his footsteps in his ears as he ran to her. Nygus contacted him with the news that his baby, his world is injured. He just knew he shouldn’t have let her go on the mission alone, he’s such an idiot. He was going to have a talk with her weapon, he’s supposed to keep her safe? He had one job and he couldn't even keep her safe. The only person who can keep her safe is him. 

He finally makes it the hospital wing and finds Stien leaning against a wall outside of a door, she has to be in there. “Kid, le’s talk before you go in there.” 

Kid stops with his hand on the doorknob. “Why? What’s wrong?” His whole body goes rigid and cold. How bad is it? Nygus didn’t say. 

“I’m not going to lie to you, it’s bad. She has severe blood loss and trauma to the head, from what looks like a sword. I fixed up the injuries as best as I could but, I fear that she might not recover. She hasn’t woken up yet either. Kid, you have to be prepared for the worst.”

Kid couldn’t believe what he was hearing, his girl has a chance of never waking up. Kid, not being able to find any words, pushed open the door to the room and steps in. In front of him laid the girl of his dreams, covered still in blood and dirt. Her head was bandaged and her arms were filled with IVs. There were scratches all over her face. She looked to be in a pained sleep. It killed Kid to look at her, to see his lively girlfriend in this condition. If her team didn’t finish off the guy who did this to her, Kid was going to find them and kill them with his bare hands. 

He sits down on the bed next to her and gently takes her hand, trying to not pain her more than she already is. He looks again to her beaten face and lets out a sob. How could he have let this happen? The prospect of never being able to see her smile again or her laughter killed him. He was going to stay by her side and never give up hope on her getting better. 

And he didn’t, for two weeks he sat by her bed for hours. Sometimes he would read to her or talk about the events of that day. How he saw a cute cat that day she might’ve found adorable. He never gave up on her. 

“-So really, it’s stupid for Blackstar to believe he can jump so high he can get to space.” Kid rambled on to her sleeping form. 

“Yeah, that is pretty stupid.” Kid couldn’t believe what he just heard. He looks up to her face and sees a half-smile there. He stopped breathing and just watched her. She quirked an eyebrow, “‘You gonna give me a kiss or?”

“Yes, yes, of course, I-” Her laughter cut him off and he moves and gently kisses her. Thankfully her facial wounds are all healed because he couldn’t help but take her face in his hands. Not being able to believe that he was actually kissing her again.

“I love you, I love you, I love you.” He says in between kisses. “How are you feeling?”

“My head hurts but that doesn’t matter.” She answered. 

“It does so matter. I’ll get Stein.” Kid made a move to get up but she stopped him. 

“No, I just want it to be us for a while.” She moved over ad patted the empty section of the bed beside her now. Kid could hardly argue with that. He moved to lay next to her and she laid her head down on his chest. “I love you, so much.”

“I love you too. I spent the last two weeks with you. Stein said you might not make it, I couldn’t believe him.” 

“That old man...” She says with a small laugh, Kid’s favorite sound. He couldn’t believe that after two weeks of worrying he has her back. He wants to pull her close and never let her go. He can’t lose her, he needs her. 

Stein came in hours later to find them intertwined while Kid watches her sleep.
