I NEED HELP (DND Stuff, might be a dumb question idk-)

So genuine question for DND side of tumblr, but- I've been thinking recently...

And are the things next to the dragonborn colors in the player handbook, like, types of damage that are less effective, their magical girl power, or both?

Cuz I never really thought about that before and I have absolutely no idea-

This week on Curse of Strahd:

The party actually juiced up the Sunsword. For lack of a better plan, Ireena is wielding it. It might get handed off to the rogue or something later.

The party also acquired a bard, because a coworker heard about college of tragedy while we were trying not to freeze to death in our over-air conditioned Tinkering Studio and decided he was All About That Life.

The bard has 5 int and 20 cha.

The bard genuinely does not seem to know where he's from.... where he is.... how long he's been in Barovia.... what the deal was with the Festival of the Blazing Sun from a week or so ago.... who the "pretty lady" was who dumped him on the party (Anastraya, who thought he might be a bit of a hindrance to the party)....

It's fine. He's fine. The party does not trust him since he is clearly very, extremely, dare I say tragically stupid.

Sadly that does mean he is no longer available to play Rahadin. Oh well.

Thought I would answer these myself seeing as I've been the DM a lot this year!

I still struggle a little with balancing combat. Some things that should be easy end up nearly killing the entire party and some things that I thought would be hard end up being too easy.

Finally being able to reveal a big bit of backstory lore for a character with no memories. I've been dropping little bits for ages, but finally got to do a reveal and they were surprised and happy! Still have more to reveal for them, but it was fun to give them some big bits.

Honestly the party I run surprises me all the time. Never know what they're going to decide to do and that makes it super fun.

So far they have gone the way I thought they would go, but with lots of diversions. 🤣

Running an encounter in which the party split up between two different pirate ships across the ocean. Managing to keep track of everyone and run two simultaneous combats with ship mechanics as well was hard, but fun.

I run a side campaign where the table play pirates and honestly any of the shenanigans that they get up to are my favourites. They're just a bunch of loveable idiots.

I've made a few, but I'm most proud of a longsword called Temporal Dread i made specifically for an Echo Knight. It has cool gravity and time related features, but honestly coming up with the name is what I'm most proud of.

It's been a pretty heavy character arc for one character in particular recently, but I have some cool reveals and plans for others to come soon...

Thinking about how much fun it would be to have Flowey DM a game of Dungeons and Dragons. Technically the vote's not done yet, but quite a few people have expressed interest in seeing the Undertale gang play D&D, so I've been reading up on the rules, working on a cohesive art style, creating characters and so on.

Like, I homebrewed a "living skeleton" species modifier so Sans and Papyrus can play skeletons that aren't as weak as the enemy skeletons, and they can choose a species from the player's handbook because Papyrus likes the human +1 for every ability, while Sans is partial to the halfling "lucky" trait, but they also get unique weaknesses and strengths because they are also skeletons.

I wish I was better at drawing maps though...

Based on absolutely nothing at all, these are the d&d classes I think the Crows would play.

Kaz is the DM, but I feel like he'd also play Rogue

Matthias: oathbreaker paladin- I think it fits his character

Inej: Rogue. She is very, very good at rolling NAT 20s on sneak attacks

Jesper: bard, but he spends most of the campaign rolling charisma checks to flirt with Wylan's character. Either that or a ranger, for obvious gun related reasons

Nina: A wizard who goes down the necromancy path, but she gave herself a high charisma so she can also have her character flirt with Matthias's

Wylan: with Wylan, I'm torn between Artificer, which would suit canon, or Wizard because I think he'd absolutely love casting fireball

Does anybody know more about Tumblr's method for deciding if a post should be flagged? Like whether someone has to manually flag posts as inappropriate or if it's done by an AI maybe? I can't really see why this would be seen as inappropriate by a real human person....

This might be a slightly nebulous one but: If Enclave had the opportunity to speak 'directly' to Lolth in the way she does Vhaeraun, how do you reckon that would go? Would something like that even happen?

So. I had some thoughts with this question.

It would depend on the period of her life she's in.

Enclave "<200" has a much different personality than Enclave after she joins Vhaeraun's church, because the kind of people that occupy his church (And frankly, the kind of god HE is) heavily influences the person she becomes (And there-for, the type of person to talk to divinity with that much audacity.)

But also, I don't think Enclave is stupid. Talking to Vhaeraun like she does is calculated (In that she knows it's something he finds funny.) Compared to Lolth who wants control and to be feared.

AND If she had stuck with Lolth and stayed a Priestess of Lolth? She wouldn't have ended up with the kind of personality that allowed her to feel emboldened enough to speak to divinity like that at all. Honestly, my overarching thought about the person she'd become if she stayed with Lolth is "This is a woman who would have ended up dead/cannibalized by the system she serves." This is someone that drow society is designed to fail, y'know? She doesn't LIKE unpredictability and chaos, she wants order. And a very nice list of things she can complete.

However, if we're talking Enclave at like. 500. As she is now in the current, as a cleric of Vhaeraun, Post-Everything? Yeah she has nothing to lose. She'd get smited by the spider god, she's not winning that fight. But she'd cuss her out. She doesn't have to be on good terms with her.
