I am blocking on sight anyone that puts any fucking discourse over "moral" fiction or whatever the fuck on my dash. I have blocked 5 people in the last month. I don't care if I've been a mutual with you for years, if you engage in this kinda shit, especially on the side of believing that certain fiction shouldn't be allowed, then you are someone I have no respect for.
Unless someone is actually straight up committing a crime (I.E., posting *actual* photographs or videos of REAL LIFE PEOPLE, not fictional/drawn people, REAL PEOPLE, being harmed/sexually abused) I Do Not Care what other people read or write or watch or make. I Do Not Care. I do not trust anyone else's, especially on the piss on the poor website, to be able to determine if a text is "glorifying" something or if they are just uncomfortable with the subject as a whole. You people all suck at media comprehension and I am just flatly not interested. I keep seeing posts of people making good points and then people ripping them apart in the most bad faith possible. "Someone else's media consumption doesn't hurt you" "yes except for when abuse is portrayed as love, or-" no. shut the fuck up. You Missed The Point. You DO NOT KNOW, and you CAN NOT KNOW, why someone else wrote or created something nor can you know why anyone chose to engage with it. Also, sometimes the fucking point of a story is to portray something bad as good, to serve a narrative purpose. that doesn't mean the author thinks it IS.
I Do Not Care about icky feelings. If you can't tell fiction from reality, that's a you problem. Leave us writers/artists the fuck out of it. And if your knee-jerk reaction to this is "oh, you're just making excuses For The Freaks" you are part of the problem and I also have no respect for you.
FWIW, I am an abuse survivor and I find everyone's moral panic over shitty fanfiction stupid at best and upsetting at worst. You people freak out over fictional bad things happening to fictional people, to the point you waste the resources and time of people that actually hunt down predators by sending them loli fanart? You make me feel like you care about fictional people more than you care about the victims. Also, you'll be fucking fine if you hear about weird art or fic happening. Just don't fucking read it yourself. But knowing it exists won't fucking hurt you. You know what does hurt you? ACTUAL ABUSE. Like the kind so many of the creators you demonize go through, bc like I said before, you can't know why people make the art they make and you certainly can't know whether someone's a victim or not. And people shouldn't HAVE to disclose their victim status for you to make sure you're only attacking the "acceptable" people.
Maybe just don't fucking attack people over some fucking fanfiction or fanart. period. go the fuck outside.
You crave ruthless, vindictive justice more than you crave to help people. You are after the high of feeling good about putting people down, the "right" people.
And I Have No Respect For You.
#discourse#fanfiction#fic discourse#ao3#ao3 discourse#Hopefully this is the only post I make about it#bc anyone that tries to argue with me is just getitng blocked and their comments removed#I Do Not Care. Make it easier on me so I can make sure I'm only interacting with adults that understand how fiction works#and to be blunt. I understand most of the people writing this shit are teenagers#and god forbid kids younger than that#and to that I say#why the hell are you in this discourse to begin with. stop looking up weird shit on ao3. stop talking to people online that talk to you#about kinky fanfic and fanart. them exposing you to this to rile you up is what's weird.#not people talking about it or doing it but that your online space is encouraging YOU as a child to do so#people should just be intelligent and not share certain shit with children but people are assholes and online is a hellscape#block anyone that constantly exposes you to outrageous fanart or fanfic just to show you how 'terrible' it is#especially if they're an adult! bc they should know better!! you shouldnt be worrying about this shit this young#Carving your own space on the internet goes two ways. Im not saying you can't DISLIKE weird fanfic or fanart. just don't make it everyone#else's problem. block tags#block users#and move on#and if you are over the age of 20 and you feel it is your moral duty to go on a crusade against shitty or dumb fanfic/fanart#maybe consider why that is. and maybe leave kids less than 15 years old the fuck out of it you fucking dipshit#What worries me is literal children contemplating if all the adults around them are fucking pedos. that's the bullshit mindset discourse#addled adults encourage and that's what makes MY blood boil#anyway Ill shut up now. Im just upset at having to block yet another mutual bc they reblogged stupid fic discourse shit

All this aroace character shipcourse has proven to me that a majority of people that interact in fandom cannot actually interact with characters and media outside of shipping and genuinely I believe you need to learn how to interact with media outside of shipping.

one of the only things that annoys me more than character hate in the character tag is spam tagging posts that have nothing to do with certain characters. like if i wanna go through my blorbo’s tag and i see a bunch of shit that had nothing to even do with them that just makes me pissed off at the person spamming the tags with said character. if that makes sense. i wish there was a button to report that shit because it’s annoying ssf like it doesn’t make me wanna click your content it makes me wanna block your ass. like don’t tag a post with a character or fandom when that post has absolutely nothing to do with said character or fandom. maybe i’m petty. idc tho.

I was just musing on how Reylo was argued against for years: 'it's gross,' or 'it's problematic,' or 'he killed Han', or 'it's incest' (that was the funniest one). Reylo is a good comparison of a ship because alike to Knightfall it's a mythic romance, it has a lot of similar motivating themes along with monomythic storytelling. It was also canon.
The issue with Reylo is that not once have I ever seen Reylo argued against on the grounds of monomythic interpretation or anything decently textually and thematically relevant. Because it was essentially impenetrable.
You couldn't argue with it on the terms of the text or the Original Trilogy because the Original Trilogy had a central redemption predicated on love, and in the context of a young man who is the evidence of Vader once being flesh-and-blood, a familial relationship was natural; between Rey and Kylo, who were both young and shared similar wounds, romance was the natural answer (particularly for picking up where Padme/Anakin left off).
The narrative reasoning that motivated Reylo is Star Wars. It's inseparable. It's mythic. It was the only planned canon detail of the Sequel Trilogy. It's evident in the concept art. They sought out Adam Driver to play Kylo and had a particular Romantic vision of Kylo. Eddie Redmayne auditioned for Kylo with the Pride & Prejudice script:
With films that top secret, they don’t give you the actual lines. So they give you a scene from Pride and Prejudice, but then they tell you you’re auditioning for the baddie. If you’re me, you then put some ridiculous voice on.
Pride & Prejudice is one of the most notable romance novels ever written and presumably this is referencing the 2005 film adaptation.
The Reylo dynamic was planned to be romantic.
The point I'm trying to make here is that you can't argue on these textual grounds and that's why you weaponise personal taste or anti bullshit. It's part of why it became so militant (and it was wrong place wrong time as a part of a broader shift of fandom) and to this day I still encounter people who try to explain to me that it's regressive for a female character to 'fix' a male character completely misunderstanding the thematic point of it or relationship of the characters that was reciprocal and grounded in the ethos of SW. They just keep repeating it because it's all they know and it makes them feel special and contrarian.
Sort of the point I'm trying to get at (as I have made a few posts about this already) is that the grounds on which someone is arguing something matters just as much as what the substantial content is. Reylo's refutation was personal taste. That was it. Because there was no other refutation.
Food for thought.

I just wanna talk about this quick and then I’ll shut up forever.
I HATE byler kiss manips (not talking about fan-art, I’m talking about photoshopped byler edits using milkvan scenes). I hate them with a burning passion. The only exception to this would be when bylers use them as a response to homophobic anon asks... now that’s funny. But that’s it 🤣
Like I get it. It’s mostly all a big joke, but it’s just cringy to me..? And weird?? Why can’t we wait for the real thing???
AND YET! AND YET!… Even though I’m kind of contradicting myself by making this post in the first place, I honestly don’t see much value in confronting fans who do this or staging a whole call out about how it makes me personally feel uncomfortable for reasons x y z.
Because that’s just me. I’m sure there are some fans who agree with me and I’m sure there are plenty who don’t. But still, I don’t see the point in policing anyone that disagrees with me on this, to make them feel bad for engaging in fandom differently than me, to make a big spectacle about how it upsets me, bc the reality is, nuance exists!!!
While there are some people out there with horrible, even offensive or concerning takes, not every single disagreement of opinion needs to be put on blast as if that person is bad for whatever point they’re trying to make. Because now suddenly everyone is giving their two cents, clogging the tag to the point where no one can escape it. Now we’re all uncomfortable. Who is that helping?? No one!
So if you’re like me and there’s certain things that make you uncomfortable, no matter how small or even major, BLOCK.
Maybe you are just like me and you give someone a few chances, only to finally block them after one too many posts that are just 😬
Or maybe you block right away the moment you see something you didn’t want to and don’t want to risk seeing again.
I just hate this tendency fandoms (it’s all fandoms, not just st or byler) have to attribute one or even a couple hundreds of fans opinions, to the entire fandom… and then project that onto the rest of us like “IF YOU THINK THIS! YOU ARE BAD!” Like be real, there are hundreds of thousands of us, exponentially chances are there are gonna be a great deal of people you won’t agree with. That doesn’t mean we have to ruin this space for everyone.
I really don’t want to do this again, bc like I said, im basically contributing to the very thing I hate. I hate that I feel this need to voice my feelings on something everyone is already talking about, and now i’m also taking away from the aspects of fandom that can be fun and welcoming and worthwhile.
It’s just unfortunate how all fandoms put themselves in this situation. We allow one or a few to control the vibe of the tag and suddenly you can’t find theories or headcanons or just fun banter between fans. All you see is virtue signaling and people trying to find someone to blame. And then we wonder why fandoms fizzle out with resentment. Because we ruin it for ourselves. We turn on each other for the sake of being right. And it just sucks.
At the end of the day, everyone has the right to say how they feel. By all means, that is your choice and you can do whatever feels right to you. But just know that not everyone is going to agree. And that’s not always a bad thing. And even if and when it is, we don’t have to make it EVERYONES business.

Do you know how annoying it is to have a special interest in something and actively hate the fan community so much you can’t go into the tags to look at your special interest.

just kinda makes you seem like an asshole outside of your muse tbh
//Okay, enough.
//I'm not the one who started the slur interpretation. The community did. I only bring it up when asks implicitly bring it up first. I'm on this blog because I like writing. I like writing slimy asshole characters because it's fun to come up with wordplay.
//Every other RP blog on Rotomblr expects the courtesy of separating the muse from the mod, and I'm no different. This is a villain blog. Designed to be a villain. Does the Jenny blog get these kinds of asks, with no reading comprehension at all?
//I'm not exactly having a great time right now, so I'd appreciate a little bit of basic understanding.

I literally don’t have anything against ranboo fans bc I know that most of them are just kids that don’t know better but I truly think their fan base would be less toxic if everyone just removed the phrase kys from their lexicon

sometimes I feel like there is not one (1) single unique idea in my head and all my original stories rely on thinly veiled plagiarism, even without my intention or knowledge. it's happened so often that I was halfway through writing something, watched a random movie I had never seen before or even just reading its premise because I was looking for stuff to get inspired by, only to find out that it's pretty much exactly what I have been working on for months or that there are very obvious paralells that make it seem like I've been copying it (but giving it a slight twist to make it a bit different). It's so frustrating and I feel like I just lack creativity and ideas and I'm worried I might never be actually able to publish something just because I don't wanna be facing a potential lawsuit. Maybe I should just stick to (slightly out of character / alternate universe with added oc's) fanfiction (but who would want to read that?! don't you read fanfic for the characters you already know and love?!) to avoid this but the thing is: I wanna write professionally. This has been my dream ever since I started writing when I was a kid and it's the only thing that ever felt right for me. Does this happen to other writers too or am I just really bad at what I'm doing and simply not cut out for it? Or have literally all stories already been told and there is nothing new to think up anymore?

I personally love Huntlow, it makes me feel a certain kind of warm joy; and while I do agree with certain sentiments, such as that Hunter shouldn't go into romantic relations when hes dealing with so much trauma, I really don't care all that much because it's a show and I just want to feel boundless joy from what it has to offer. Hunter is genuinely one of my favorite characters--tho I do love all of them--and I just really want to see him happy and thriving, especially as someone who feels so connected to Hunter as a character, with what abusive themes he goes through and all.
The only thing that really irks me is when people who dislike Huntlow as a ship act very disrespectfully about it, like just let us have our fun with it?
I fully respect people who want to draw Hunter and Willow in platonic context and everything or even soft rejection themes, it's just not my cup of tea, and as such I will end up moderating my tumblr space to fit what I like and gain joy n comfort from. It's nothing personal. As long as we respect each other's spaces, it's fine.

Don't you just wish you could THINK up a story and it would appear written on a word document? You come up with sentences in your mind but forget them when writing them down, or you start second guessing the phrasing or something and you just become tired of writing and your story remains stuck in your head.
