Smiffina Episodes - Episode 376

Smithy and Leela arrest an estranged father who has broken into his ex's place to drop off Christmas gifts whilst she's away on holiday.

As he goes to book him in he receives a call - it's Louise. She tells him she's 'come to say goodbye' when he meets her at the front of the station a few moments later. He's standoffish and reserved to protect himself, insisting that they said their goodbyes and her being there is putting him and his job at risk. Louise swallows and nods. "You're right. I shouldn't be here. Bye." she says, getting back in her car.

The ex eventually backs up the fathers story after he's spent a night in the cells and it turns out she's the one who has broken the court order (though the father has broken the law) by taking the kids away on one of his access days without his consent. Smithy says he'll help him - as long as he does things officially. "You're a sound man, Sgt... Dale Smith." he tells him, reading it from his police card. "Here, Pat?!" Smithy calls to an extra. "Show him out before I lock him up for crawling."

Smithy and Zain catch up on the Larson case in his office after Zain comes to tell him something very surprising - Louise is going into Witness Protection as she's going to super!grass on Pete and tell them everything she knows. Smithy rings and leaves her a voicemail, apologising for being so short and telling her he now understands why she came and to ring him if she wants to. Leela interupts and he has to follow her out - the father has caused another domestic at the home of his ex. He tried to deliver the kids and the wife is literally throwing them out the window - at the father - and now at Smithy and Leela after they arrive! Smithy talks to the mother and explains the law around the ruling that was made and gets her to agree to let him see the kids so it doesn't have to go any further.

Louise returns his call and offers to meet to talk about things. He meets her at a friend of hers house who is currently away and they talk about the Witness Protection Plan. The CPS dropped all charges against her but she's still put herself in danger to testify and will have to change her entire life and identity. She insists that she's already in danger just for being Pete's wife and also for having had the affair with Smithy. If Pete gets free or if he gets locked up - she gets a hit on her head either way. She has to do it to be free and to be protected by the police. She tells him there's a chance that Smithy can also go into Witness Protection given how involved in the case he was. He asks her if it's what she wants. She tells him it is if it's what he wants and if he could give up his entire life and leave everyone behind.

Today went very well. I am glad that I was able to catch up on my posts during my break earlier. I am now eating my evening snack, and then I will get ready for bed before spending a bit of time with my parents until it is time for sleep.

I am not quite sure if I am a fan of statistics quite yet seeing as conditional probability took me a little longer to understand, but I do think I finally figured it out so it made sense in my brain. On the other hand, the book that I am almost done with is so good. They mentioned the father of taxonomy, who I only recently studied in Biology. Yes, I forgot his name, but it isn't important as he did a terrible thing by assigning value to a person based on their race and said that there were four races, and technically even five, and then he assigned them an order and why they were in that particular order. Apparently, that was one of the ideas behind race realism which is pseudoscience at best in which geneticists even say there is no actual scientific backing for despite how it is often displayed. Although, I am finding this out from this book, with what I know in general, I trust it. Sometimes non-fiction can be difficult to read, but when it's written like this, and because I like history, I don't want to put the book down. It's strange that I somewhat remember hearing about some of the events mentioned in the book, but I can't recall it perfectly. I was only 7 then!

I’m very glad Scooby-Doo has come up, it’s like my one thing (I definitely didn’t submit a Scrappy related hot take)

If your looking for Scooby-Doo crossovers I would like to direct your attention to the Scooby-Doo Movies (1972), which a series consisting of hour long episodes and celebrity guests. Some examples being:

Scrappy-Doo doesnt deserve the hate

He was literally a baby boy added to a show that was floundering in its formula and he added life to it. Any quality decrease after his initial introduction was already well on its way after a decade plus of the franchise. And most of the modern idea of scrappy is a misconception deliberately brought on by James Gunn's purposeful Assassination of the character in the 2002 movie, which is full of false assertions about the character intended to make him seem worse than he actually was. Also I hate to break it to yall but the whole "tin curry refused a role in the movie cause of scrappy" is straight up misinfo that James Gunn even confirmed fake.

Heidegger almost hits Zack, Sephiroth's wounded leg gets it instead, while he's on the ground, Zack draws Heidegger's hits, Sephiroth tries to stop Zack from being thrown in the dungeon, Heidegger almost throws Sephiroth in the dungeon, Zack saves his butt, just lots of self-sacrifice for bae on both ends ❤️

Before working on this, I honestly never gave much thought to the dates, so here are some things I noticed:

This might be me, but I didn’t realize that “A Guest for Mr. Spider” is only two days after the brutal pipe murder and also the same day as Daisy’s interrogations.

The entirety of season 2 takes place within ~6 months~

Episode 85, Upon the Stair, the case number is #376-U. Which I am guessing means that it is the three hundred and seventy sixth statement with an unknown date.

So far, only Gertrude gives the day the statement was originally given and the day she recorded it on tape.

Martin, so far, does not give a synopsis of the statement, but he does say the case file’s number.

I’m fairly sure that some of the case files are wrong. So far, there’s:

Episode 30, Killing Floor, the case number is #0130111, which would be November 1, 2013, but Jon says that the statement was given September 1, 2013, so it would be #0130109.

Episode 39 and 40, Infestation and Human Remains, the case numbers are #0160729-A and #0160729-B respectively, but it should be #0162907-A and #0162907.-B

Again,episode 43, Section 31, is numbered #0160919 when it should be #0161909.

Episode 46, Literary Heights, is #9981221, when it should be #9982112.

Episode 48, Lost in the Crowd, is #0100325, it should be #0102503.
