people trying to say that trans/nonbinary representation in veilguard is the worst thing thats happened to the trans community in the last half a year (im exaggerating here but u get my point) need to sit down and ask themselves a couple of questions.

1. Are you nonbinary? If not, do you know someone who is? Have you talked to them about their experiences and what its like to not fit into the strict gender binary that permeates our society on almost every level?

2. Do you think that your experiences are universal?

if you answer no and yes in that order, then i'm going to have to ask you to please put the keyboard aside and go do some self-reflection.

Because frankly. I'm kind of starting to get sick of seeing binary people try to talk about this while completely not understanding the experience and also thinking that their personal perspective is the only true and correct one.

Like, the amount of times ive seen people COMPLETELY misinterpret the scene with Taash and Neve talking in the dining room is ridiculous.

***This would take a longer discussion about queerness in the Philippines, but there's a lot of overlap between gay men, transwomen, and drag queens in the Philippines, under the term "bakla". Very often, this identity is attached to an expression of femininity by someone assigned male at birth. Because pronouns are not gendered in the Philippines, whether someone sees themselves as gay, trans, nonbinary, etc, is up to the person, even if they're all "bakla". Ada is, in international discussions, referred to as a gay man; but it's important to note he shows an adoration for his feminine body as Zsa zsa that may resonate with transfem readers. I'll continue to refer to Ada as "he" and Zsazsa as "she", but it's important to note that this is due to the gendered nature of discussing this in English, and culturally, there are nuances in the Philippines around the fluidity of gender as a result of our non-gendered pronouns. Happy Pride Month everyone!

For this occasion I decided to write a quick spend-pride-with-your-serial-killer drabble <3 Each love interest comes with their own sexuality/gender identity representation so here is the list (only Misaki and Ronin's gender identities are truly canon!) - Ronin -> transgender, bi rep <3 - Misaki -> nonbinary, pan rep! - V -> Asexual rep! - Angel -> Demisexual rep (i hc her as a lesbian or at least bi with fem pref but i wanted this reader to be g.n. so demi was the best choice because to me she's a demisexual lesbian)

Ronin

You two were getting ready to go out and take part in a Pride parade that was hosted in Elysium. You were very excited about this occasion, it was supposed to be the first pride you'd be taking part in with Ronin and not for work!

You put on the accessories you found and made with your flag's colours and looked at yourself in the mirror. You felt like your very own Pride star, with the accessories and make up and it felt great, you felt proud of yourself.

"You ready yet, darlin'?" You turned around when you heard Ronin's voice behind you and you gasped, then a giggle left your mouth. "Oh god! Are you trying to become a whole pride flag on your own?" You just looked at him in disbelief.

Ronin, still in his edgy-serial-killer-lord-of-the-night clothes had more colour than you've even seen him wear. Staring from the giant trans and bi flags being attached to his belt, going to all the hand made bracelets he was wearing on his wrists, most of these were probably going to end up as a hand out for all the kids who aren't able to be as open with their queerness as he is. Even his beanie managed to get a rainbow chain hanging from one of the horns. You would never admit it out loud but somehow he looked adorable like this and a tiny bit funny.

"What's so funny?" He raised an eyebrow with a cheeky smirk. "Y'know I'd go all out baby, don't act like you didn't." He ruffled your hair.

Angel

You expected your Pride month with Maria de la Rosa to be rather discrete and hidden, she had some LGBTQ+ friendly companies working with her in previous years, but now you're dating and you were expecting her to be cautious of showing of her queerness in front of her fans, worried of their opinions and comments.

But you couldn't be more positively wrong!

Your girlfriend decided to take you on a walk around the city so she could film a video for her channel about Elysium's ways of celebrating Pride and the traditions that she noticed over the years. The biggest shock for you was the fact that she was holding your hand, talking to you how she always did and even decided to keep the shot of you two kissing on camera.

"So, Maria, could you tell us more about the colours you're wearing today?" You asked, sitting next to her on a bench, Angel asked you to do a little interview with her about her queerness.

"I'm wearing the colours of the demisexual flag!" She answered with her signature sweet giggle.

You asked a few more questions and she even gave you an in-depth introduction to demisexuality. You looked the shine in her eyes, the excitement at the idea of educating her fans, especially the youngest of them, about the community she belongs to.

"I'm so proud of you!" You kissed Angel on the cheek and put the strawberry milkshake in front of her.

"Thank you sweetheart, without you it'd be duller and just way worse." She took your hand in hers. "Happy Pride, I love you."

Misaki :

"Misaki my wrist hurts." You groaned.

Your partner was using your arm as a mannequin for their bracelet, which meant that you had to hold out your arm so Misaki could make the jewellery on you.

"Aw, but think about all the gay kids who will wear these later, our wrist can be sacrificed for this!" They said half jokingly and you just scoffed, a beaming smile on your smile.

"Fine, fine, the baby gays are a fair cause here." You replied and looked over at your forearm that was covered by many colorful bracelets, most of them were rainbow and some other were in specific flag colours. Your wrists weren't the only ones full of queer jewellery, Misaki had some bracelets on their own, mostly ones in nonbinary and pansexual flags colours. You could see the passion in Misaki's eyes, how excited she was about making small trinkets for all the people of the community who maybe couldn't be as open as you two wish they could be.

"Do you think we have enough?" You asked when Misaki started to take some of the bracelets off of you. This was the fifth round of making them and Misaki slowly started to lose the beads with how many she used already.

They looked over at the pile and titled their head, thinking about your question. "It's enough," they paused, "for today at least! We have the whole month to go, babe! We'll make even more."

"I'll get you a real mannequin for this, because my wrists are dying."

"Sorry, sorry! i went a little overboard here." They chuckled.

"Pfft, you're lucky I love you, you silly cat." You kissed their cheek and stood up. "Come on now, we should go now if we want to catch a glimpse of any parades."

V :

"Do you really think you're fine with it?" You asked V who sat in the chair in front of you, you were holding an eyeshadow palette and brush in front of his face.

You and your boyfriend were supposed to go to a queer youth charity event, one that V was very eager to sponsor even before Pride month. Since this event was specifically hosted for Pride every guest was asked to represent their own sexuality or gender identity if they felt comfortable with it.

You suggested that you could give V a asexual themed make up and he agreed, yet you were worried that maybe he felt pressured to do so to make you happy.

V opened his eyes and nodded. "Yes, I told you that I'm happy with this, didn't I?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Well yes, but..."

"My love, I'm an adult, I know what I agreed to and I still want to do it." He reassured you with that gentle and slightly sweet smile of his.

"Alright, sorry I guess I'm just worried since I never was on a big event like that before." You smiled mischievously. "I hope you won't mind a bit of glitter then mr. Valentin, 'cause I'll make you shine." With the playful threat you started to apply make up on his eyes, starting with white as the base and going through gray to black and then on the other edge you added purple. You weren't kidding when you told him about adding glitter, you really did add a tiny bit of silver glitter over the eye shadow for a better effect.

"What do you think?" You asked, giving him the mirror.

"You did a great job, thank you." He stood up and kissed you sweetly. "Do you think that I should also have a flag with me? They're small, but I bought one for me and another for you." He said and pointed towards the flags that were displayed on the bed, you couldn't believe that you didn't see them before.

"Yeah, I don't see why not, we could have them tied to our bags or belts, that's how many people were them too."

I'm processing a lot of emotions tonight and I keep being drawn back to Good Omens--not just because it's the new hyperfixation or because it's so good. That's what I thought it was, at first.

But this year--hell, the last 3 or 4 months especially, I finally started taking steps to accepting and being myself. I'm rapidly approaching middle age and I'm only just now beginning to feel like I'm allowed to be me. I came out to the people in my household, a few select friends, and a few select family members--most of whom were wholly supportive. I started testosterone injections. I stopped trying to be someone I'm not. I stopped hiding who I am and who I love.

What does this have to do with Good Omens? Nothing. But also... Everything.

So much queer representation is in characters vastly younger than me--and that's good! I want queer kids to feel safe and loved and accepted in ways I never did. They deserve better than we had. And it gives me hope for their futures. I bawled like a baby when I watched The Owl House with my son and he was totally unphazed by the queerness. It's just how people are to him.

But when something like Good Omens comes along and not only grabs every opportunity to show average, everyday old(er) queer representation... It just. I've never felt more seen. More accepted. More hope for all our futures. And season 2 just knocked that out of the fucking park. And the nonbinary, genderfluid, and genderqueer rep? My God.

And it's not subtext, it's not it's own separate plotline where they're fighting for acceptance or dealing with hateful bigotry... It's just... Accepted. It's normal. No one questions it. No one even comments on it.

It's people of any age (even millions of years old) being unapologetically themselves and loving who they love openly and fully (with one notable uncommunicative group of two ineffable idiots, but they'll get there).

I just.

I can't express how grateful I am to see older queer rep at this time in my life. It's been a rough year, and I expect it'll get rougher before it gets better. But I've never been happier in my own skin, and it means the absolute world to see my literary and media heroes like Neil Gaiman, David Tennant, and Michael Sheen (and Terry Pratchett and everyone who worked on Good Omens, honestly) making this beautiful, messy, adorable, excruciating, wonderful, heartbreaking, ethereal, down-to-earth tale.

There aren't enough words in all the languages of the world to express how I'm feeling. "Thank you" just feels... Insufficient.

I just hope they know how much it means to people like me, especially after a lifetime of buried subtext and overt queerbaiting and media ridicule and general lack of acceptance, to experience this story with them.

omg I totally agree with the oversexualisation of trans reg!!! I also see the same thing for t4t rosekiller, bartylus, jegulus etc. It's just so annoying that we're "giving rep" but it's all sexualisation. And I feel so bad because I would never want to say anything to offend anyone but sometimes it feels like people are only hc characters as trans ftm is so they can have two people w vaginas having sex while still calling them men.

I really don't know if any of this makes sense and I really don't want to be offensive in any way, but I don't know how to phrase it. I want more rep for trans people but WHY is it all sexualisation.

No I completely agree with you, and trust me SO many ppl on Twitter I know agree as well and get frustrated. I adore trans rep, it’s why I started the OF universe, to explore it in a way I enjoy and find helpful to me, and yes there’s a lot of sex but I try not to make it uncomfortable, but sometimes it does come across as ppl wanting James to sleep with someone with a vagina without them being a woman lmao, that’s not for every trans rep tho, some can be lovely and it’s great to read, but reg specifically can be written as a plaything and it feels so sexualised for no reason…ANYWAY never feel worried about sharing your opinions with me, I’m always down for conversations like this!

And hcs of course! Trans Sirius has my heart, especially if they’re genderfluid or nonbinary, I love writing them finding their style and using whatever pronouns they want, I just feel like they’re v androgynous no matter what and love changing their style just bc it’s what they love doing, not to fit in! 'Stone top' is a term for someone who doesn't like to have their genitalia touched during sex, whether due to dysphoria or just personal preference. I've frequently heard it used among trans men and lesbians especially, though I'm sure other queer folks use it, too! A lot of trans men are stone to some degree, and I wish this was represented more in fandom. To be clear, 'stone' doesn't automatically translate to 'top' or 'dominating'! But it does in Logan's case... >:3

'Top' in general is someone who prefers to penetrate others, rather than to be penetrated. Again, plenty of transmasc tops out there, but a tragic deficit in fandom.

My Logan is a strap king who also likes to fingerfuck and tonguefuck his partners, and do every damn other thing to them besides! He likes to dom! He likes to sub! But he is NOT cool with having his genitalia touched, and certainly not ever cool with being penetrated, anywhere. It doesn't matter if he's with a cis or trans man, a cis or trans woman, or a nonbinary individual. It's not 'something he's not going to get over'. It's not 'because of trauma'. He's not gonna change his mind once he really gets to know his partner. It's just a perfectly valid sexual preference!

Basically I just want to see more trans men topping in fandom, and more stone rep in general! Especially if this preference is treated with respect, rather than as a problem that needs to be fixed; and if the stone top is a fully fleshed out character~

Sonic LGBT+ Headcanons

For the sake of pride month, I wanna share some headcanons that i've got or that i thought over. Some are still heavily what-if's and hypotheticals.

And for the love of god if you don't agree with these. it's not a huge deal... i really am not looking to cause any rage or arguments. please. this just simple fun.

Sonic- Aroace. This is pretty easy. And I have played around with the idea of him being transgender. Either way he is down for people living their truths and being themselves <3

Tails- Transgender. Since he's just a boi I haven't put much thought to how he'd identify himself but you can't tell me he doesn't give trasngender vibes. The way he rejects his given name and goes by a chosen name. Idk personally if he'd be mtf or ftm. I could see it either way. Be your best self little buddy <3

Knuckles- Bisexual (DUH i mean so many see him as this i can't help it too) and thanks to talks with a lot of my friends in the Knuckles chat, I do imagine he's on the nonbinary spectrum. He has no real strong feelings towards gender. Just tends to go by he/him cause that's what people usually go by, but would likely respond to anything. Boi don't care.

Amy- A pansexual queen <3 and I have also pondered her being trasngender too. Either way. QUEEN <3 She probably adores the celebration and parade of this month, such expressions of love towards others and yourself means so much to her.

Rouge- She's an interesting one... I've had a lot of thoughts about how she identify. I do love her being trasngender. We barely know anything about her past, perhaps it was to her own design. Leaving her dead name and her past self behind her. When it comes to her opinion on romance and sexuality i've always gone back and forth. The closest I've come to is omnisexual and aromantic. I just see her being not that keen on being tied down romantically.

Shadow- Now for Shadow, of course he'd be somewhere on the spectrum of nonbinary. Heck I've even pictured him being possibly Intersex. They should have some more rep. <3 Meanwhile for sexuality Demisexual and Demiromantic feels the most right for him as of now. He'd need some time to open up in that sense, not feel much attraction until he's made a prior bond.

Omega- Agender. Bros a robot. Of course he has no gender. He'd def be firing flaming conffetti at pride though, let the bot celebrate in his own way. Violently.

Cream- Look, she's a lil tot. I don't really have much thoughts for her, as I don't really ship her with anyone, so I don't think about that sort of stuff. I do imagine no matter what she grows to be or identify with she is a strong ally and as long as your nice she supports you <3

Big- Big is such a tough one, I could see SO many fitting him... i've gone back and forth so many times. I've made him gay, ace, aroace, demi, pan and even gender wise he's just 'big' i could see him being super lax when it comes to gender. So it's kinda hard to label him... so far he kinda has to be unlabeled, he's just... Big. He's an ally for sure, but jeez for a fav of mine I can't really decide on what I wanna headcanon him as.

Vanilla- I know I could easily make her a straight ally but I like to see her as bisexual. Also I do see her being such a supportive figure to those, especially those without a mother. At parades she'd offer mother hugs and also give advice, snacks and water for those in the parade.

Vector- Vector's got a lot of options for me, I know most people ship him mostly with Vanilla but I like to play around with his orientation. I've gone back and forth between Polysexual or Ominisexual.

Espio- I like to think Espio gender wise might be genderfluid. i could him appearing more masculine one time, feminine another, and then androgynous another. He is a chameleon, his identity fluctuates as much as his skin. :p I can imagine him as a pansexual mess though, gender might not mean much to him but the minute he has an attraction. WELP GOOD LUCK TO HIM KEEPING HIS COOL. he can try but we all know how he really is behind that mask.

Charmy- Much like Cream, I haven't given him much thought. He is a kid after all. The only thought i've had is him being possibly a trans child but again i haven't really thought much about it. Sorry Charmy LOL

Blaze- I headcanon she's a lesbian. That's just me though. Probably doesn't help it's a flaming looking flag that is just a funny coicidence though LOL. I just see her liking girls but not being sure how to express her feelings.

Silver- he's always been hard to place at least with sexuality. Asexual feels right for him but when it comes to romance. I'm not sure... possibly gay? IDK... He's always been hard. Gender wise I feel demi-boy feels right. He/they pronouns for them.

Jet- I personally see him as a closeted gay. I know there are some fokls who'd likely disagree but this is just my own headcanon. Who knows maybe he needs to stretch out. But since I haven't really shipped him with any girls, nor have I had any ship that has made me wanna change that. I'll just stick with this for now. He likely just needs some time to explore his identity. But for now he's very tight-lipped and is likely not ready to confront it or come out. Maybe some day. (I just like making him a ball of insecurity and having him confront and deal with his issues. CHARACTER GROWTH FOR YOU BOY)

Wave- She's... hard. But what feels the most right to me is Demisexual, or even Ace. But is biromantic.

Storm- For a long time I wasn't sure how to label him. What feels the most right is pansexual. Another headcanon I have was kinda on accident though but I now kinda headcanon him as polyamorous. This mostly happened on accident due to how many poly's he's been included in fun lil au's of mine.

Nack- Gay. I have not really shipped him with any females so I just see him as a gay lil guy LOL i'm not sure if has anymore layers to his identity though, he might but I have not really explored his character in that sense.

Bark- Now originally, I wanted to say Gay... but tbh I kinda like omnisexual for him better. I can see him leaning towards men and masculine people far more, but the attraction for other genders is still there.

Bean- Hilariously I have not really explored Bean a lot, I've only shipped him with one person and that's a girl. But straight ally still doesn't feel right for him LOL i can see him exploring himself in the future though. but right now let him set off a bunch of rainbow smoke and confetti bombs.

Mighty- Gay. I've always headcanoned him being gay. That's just how I view him. i can see him being such a heavy ally though. He'd def paint his shell for fun of it and carry so many flags in support.

Ray- Like a lot of the other youths, I haven't given him much thought but... I have had an idea that's stuck with me although I don't know if anyone would really agree but idk. It's just an idea. I liked the idea of further along down the line Ray starts to explore his gender identity and perhaps feels happier appearing more feminine and even transitioning... Just the idea of Ray trying on a dress or skirt and being genuinely happy in just makes me happy to think about but I haven't explored this idea much further and I think i've only told one person.

And that's all the ones I had. Please don't take these too seriously. I know people can get so bent out of shape over headcanons... i'm not looking to cause arguements I just wanted to share my thoughts that I've had. Heck these could change even as most of the time i'ts hard for me to decide labels for characters, whether canon or my own. Keeping them unlabeled is just much easier.

I don't see this transformation of Nagihiko/Nadeshiko very often both in fandom and official merch, so I'd thought I'd draw her for this zine!

Nagi/Nade as characters are extremely close to my heart as a queer/nonbinary person, especially since they were my first introduction to it without it being a butt of any joke.

While I'm definitely not happy with the direction PP are going with the story and characters rn including them, I'll always be thankful for this rep, and Nagi/Nade will always be near and dear to my heart

So thought I’d lay this out since as a masc-presenting nonbinary person who only uses they/them, I’ve got a bit of a connection to the issue.

Kris uses they/them pronouns. No other ones. If you claim they use any other you are deliberately misgendering them.

The soul represents the player. Kris is not the self insert. The soul is, or at least miles closer to one than Kris. Therefore if you want to put your pronouns on some character, you apply them to the soul. Not Kris.

Every character including those who’ve know Kris since they were a kid has used they/them pronouns for them. If any other pronouns applied we would have seen them used. And you should have picked up on that. (Honest mistakes are okay, getting defensive over it is not.)

Headcanons don’t come into play here. A very large theme of deltarune is the separation between Kris and the player. Headcanoning Kris as she/her or he/him goes against the themes of their own agency. Not thought crime policing, if you post about it we are allowed to call you out.

And this matters especially because there’s been so little they/them rep in mainstream games. So they/them in a largely popular game? You do not get to erase that. You don’t get to in any games, but especially not this one.
