hawkeye isn't even out yet to judge how bad the writing will be, but i wish bucky hadn't been in tfatws and they'd given sam his own show, and then bucky showed up in hawkeye. Actor!friendship ≠ character friendship, and both Sam and Bucky were character assassinated, directly contradictory to canon (and since good characterisation is about consistency, this was straight up bad writing). 

Besides, that was too important a story to force it to share breathing space with silly leftwingvillain Flagsmashers and Walker and Val and Sharon and Zemo and Bucky. 

(Whose story is, also, too serious to relegate it to a scanty subplot.... or it would be, if they had shown his real story, but because they can’t identify with the uncomfortably female/queer-coded canon victim character, they gave him a dudebro lobotomy instead. Great.)

They wedged crashy punchy action sequences into a series that shouldn't have had any, gave us more copaganda and US-military-porn, and fixated on the legacy of 'Murica without ever even once mentioning the real legacy of Cap and the shield, which was to fight Fascism, in America and abroad. 

(You’d think that would be a big point in the shield’s favour in Sam’s eyes? And no mention of Gabe Jones?! You’d think if there was any show in a position to go into the real history, not the Disneyneutered WASP version, it would be this one!)

It was just an ordinary school day, doing English in maths, chit-chatting in VA, and sneaking phone out in Science. Yes, very typical.

Your friend, Chaeryeong decided to bring you to her dance studio after school. You were never really into Kpop. You were more like a "Twinkie" who seems intimidating to others. However, you and Chaeryeong knew each other since forever, she knew the real you.

Sometimes, she felt like you just hanging out with her and her sisters is not enough. She wanted you to have more friends and join more activities but you just said it's fine. She was hoping bringing you to the studio will help.

Entering the studio, you sat down at the back.

"You're not going to join?"

You looked up at her. "Nah... I can't..."

"Well, okay. I hope you will change your mind though..."

"괜찮아..." (It's okay...)

She nodded and went to warm up.

You started scrolling your phone until you heard footsteps, and you looked up. A cat-eyed girl ran in, hands on her knees, breathing heavily.

"Hi... I... I'm sorry I'm... late-"

She looked at you and froze, with her eyes wide open. You started to worry, 'Is there something on my face? Do I know her? Oh my God-' Your thoughts were cut out by your best friend, "Oh right, Y/N, this is Yeji unni, she is from school. And Yeji unni, you know Y/N." She said with a smirk, the cat-eyed girl started to blush and looked away.

'Oh, she is from school.' You thought.

You caught her staring at you a few times through the mirror's reflection, she looked away quickly.

'Cute' You thought.

They started the practice when Chaeryeong's sister, Chaeyeon finally arrived. It was not the first time you see the Lee sisters dance, but Yeji, she is something else. The way she looked at you through the mirror when she was dancing gave you chills. It's like her glances can kill.

'Oh wow.'

When the practice ended, the four of you stayed because the Lee sisters suggested a get-to-know-each-other-more gathering. Well, they ordered chicken, you can't say no to chicken.

As you guys were waiting for the food, Chaeyeon suddenly pulled her phone out, "Have you guys listened to the latest Blackpink song yet?" 'Blackpink? As in black and pink???' The three of you said no. She signed and played the mv. It was like just Kpop at first, but when you listen to it the second time, you started to get addicted. The Lee sisters knew you way too much, "Y/N si, do you wanna learn the dance?"

"What- No-"

"We saw you nodding your head to the music, also the rap part!"

It's not a secret that you like raps but the girl with bangs just did so well and you're obsessed already.

"Come onnnnnnnnnnnn, you love to danceeeee."

Chaeyeon said and Chaeryeong pulled you up. Even though you acted like you didn't want it, you were glad your friends knew you that well. All of you picked your parts and started to learn the dance.

Chaeyeon saw you were struggling and got behind you to help you with the moves. Little did you know, someone was watching the both of you.

"Ohhhhh, okay. I got it now, Chaeyeon unni. Thank you."

"It's okay, haha." She said as she petted your head before hugging you.

Yeji watched with a pout, "Are you jealous, unni?" Chaeryoung teased. "Wha- No-" The cat-eyed girl got flustered again. Was it love at first sight? No. You were the "Twinkie" of the school which amazed her, you and the Lee sisters are best friends, it's hard not to notice you.

"They look good together..." She mumbled.

"THE FOOD IS HERE!!!" Chaeyeon screamed.

"Yah, unni! We're just right here." You said as you rub your ears.

"Awe, I'm sorry, my poor baby." She said as she hugged you and kissed you on your forehead.

Yeji pouted again, not knowing how to react. She wanted to get out of here and cry, but she can't. It'd be weird, and she wanted to get to know you. Maybe not as a love interest, but at least being friends would be nice. She held herself together and sat down on the floor with you all and ate.

Three had turned to four, now that Yeji knew that you and Chaeyeon are just good friends made her relieved. You four hanged out even during summer, and Yeji finally dared to ask you to hang out with her, just the two of you.

"So."

"Yeah?"

"Where are we going?"

"Oh right, sorry haha. We're going to the carnival!"

"Wait, really?" You've been talking nonstop about the carnival but the Lee sisters were just too busy to get there with you while Yeji wanted to impress you by showing you that she did listen.

She nodded.

"OH MY GOD, I LOVE YOU!" You screamed as you threw yourself onto her to gave her the best hug she's ever received. She hugged back softly, cherishing every second of it.

You and Yeji had grown extremely close in the past few months. The Lee sisters had been teasing the two of you being wives as you two weren't separated from each other.

"I think I'm losing my best friend to Yeji unni..." Chaeryeong said dramatically while having a hand on her chest, faking a pain. "I'm losing my baby too! Oh, this is so sad!" Chaeyeon said as they pretended to cry together.

"You guys... We're literally just here..." You said as you held Yeji closer.

"And you two are cuddling in our living room!"

"It's cold, and she is soft," Yeji said as she snuggled into you more.

"Get a room already!"

'These two... Aish...' Well, you love your best friends. Even when they tease you.

With all the teasing, this had made you wonder what would it be like if you two are actually something. It would be... Nice? It's quite hard to picture as you've never imagined anything like that. A few months ago, she was just the shy girl you didn't know, and now, she's one of your best friends that you're cuddling with on Christmas Eve.

"What are you thinking?" She asked and you snapped out of your thoughts.

"Nothing just got distracted."

"Awe, okay."

You wondered why she was so shy the first time you met her. And was she... Blushing? But that also brought you back to how she dances. How her body moved so smoothly, and those glances. They're just wow.

Was it love at first sight? Probably not, but you definitely had a little crush on her when you saw her dance.

These thoughts kept you up all night, wondering what would it be to date your best friend, holding hands, cuddling, and going out, as a couple.

She really needed that kind of support at that moment, from her "future" lover.

"Can I get something if I am the MVP of the season?"

"Sure, is there something in particular that you want?"

well we’re almost there folks

something i haven’t thought about before, but if animals avoid eating living bugs and don’t want to “take a life” does that mean they tend to avoid killing them too? Do they usually just relocate them? I’m sure some kill bugs but like idk i just latched onto that even though it’s in the manga. Bouncing off that, though, I really don’t see why bug consuming isn’t a bigger deal in this world. The only reason it’s not irl is cuz people would rather eat meat, but certain bugs have just enough protein and nutrients to replace meat. I get that that wouldn’t end meat eating once and for all but it just doesn’t come up as much as you’d think it would Legosi crying and saying he’d rather be an insect than a wolf...his VA did a good job with those lines. I think it’s funny how the anime makes us think Legosi is gonna lose his fur again, but because of that we miss the joke of Gouhin saying he’s gonna shoot Legosi with his crossbow when he asks Gouhin if he reminds him of his wife Also, unimportant, bug I’m glad Legosi has a blue tracksuit here. I never really liked the red on him (unless it’s a dress) (Oh yeah and the added tail wag scene when Legosi thinks about Louis again...) Riz’s cooking scene used to be like, all one block but now it’s been split up. He doesn’t seem to have the obsession with becoming Legosi’s “friend” by eating him here. I wonder if they’re gonna just drop that altogether. Also he bursts a can of sauce or tomato juice or something, whereas in the manga it was an egg. Obviously this was done to make it look like he’s licking blood off his fingers, but that scene in the manga always bothered me too cuz like, no matter how strong you are you can’t really just crush an egg with your hands. Like i’m sure a big beastars bear could, especially with claws, but like idk, eggs are designed to hold under that sort of pressure. A stupid thing to think about but that’s just what i do I love the little detail of the barstools having gaps for animal’s tails in them. It’s a cute bit of worldbuilding. Otherwise, Dressgosi seems to happen pretty much the same (aside from him losing his heels). We do lose out on Legosi eyeing up Louis, tho, cuz he definitely does that in the manga. I love his falsetto, though, even if he doesn’t use it on the bartender to order a drink. In fact this whole scene seems to be cut short. In the anime it seems like he’s there for like a few minutes but in the manga they clearly get a bit tipsy as they talk. A loss, for sure. Legosi goes more into Louis’s importance here, though, saying he only made it this far because of him. And Louis finally laughs and lightens up a bit, which was great to see, although I just wish they’d linger on that scene more, but like, they’re already pressed for time. I love how Legosi slips back into character as he leaves the bar Enter: Pina’s scheme. I like this addition a lot, with Pina trying to record Riz confessing the crime. I feel like this was probably his plan all along, but with the fight with Legosi coming up he had to get it in motion faster. It also kind of adds some basis to their relationship later, i feel, but wow that’s not coming until way later (unless they establish it earlier) We get Melon and Sebun cameos for...some reason. Like it’s kinda cool but i feel it’s kinda useless fanservice. Sebun being on a quiet, integrated traincar goes against her character, too, since the manga made it seem like her riding carnivore cars is something she’s done for a while. The tailored traincars seem like something that was removed, though Legosi thinks about all his friends, and then thinks about Haru, but he doesn’t call her, nor has she called him like in the manga. Also different is him saying if he survives this he wants to hear her voice. In the manga he says he wants to visit his grandpa. Now, it’s clear that everything regarding Legosi’s family is being pushed into later seasons, but i still prefer the manga here There’s a lot less blood on Riz here than in the manga, kinda hinting that Pina isn’t really dead, but idk maybe some anime onlys are fooled. We totally miss out on the Shishigumi battle with the Okamigumi!!! Like i get it but i really miss that scene. Plus Louis barely has a scratch on him whereas in the manga he has a huge black eye. Maybe they don’t want his injuries distracting in the next episode. Also Louis’s “i like carnivores” realization is a bit sudden here with the scene cut so short. At least they still put Legosi on the forefront of his mind there with that. Also he’s got all that emotion in his voice now...the floodgates are opening and he realizes just how important Legosi is to him (something that would have been made better if they didn’t cut Louis seeing Legosi buying meat scene but whatever) The ending with the gunshot is interesting. I wonder what they want the audience to think. Of course Ibuki wouldn’t shoot Louis, cuz like why would he? There’d be no need to. So maybe they want us to think Louis shot him? Which like, is kinda confusing put into context since Ibuki isn’t outright threatening him. Perhaps to just be like a sort of “huh?” I feel like the cliffhanger would have worked without it, but it being there isn’t too bad Welp, next week is the last one. Apparently there’s an extra scene that won’t be on netflix, but i’m guessing it might be more Melon teasery, since them leaving out any narrative in this next episode would be really bad (Crossing fingers to manifest exclusive Lougosi kissing scene)

i have only played up to the end of the third palace but i won’t be able to play for a few weeks because my sibling has ABANDONED ME (single tear) and we play together. and i’m bored. so HERES MY REVIEW of all the major characters so far. under read more because i do tend to ramble

why is my silent video game protagonist a catboy. it’s funny to me how much personality he manages to have despite being. yknow. a blank slate to project on. charisma! the dialogue options when you’re talking to shadows that are like “girl power!” live in my mind. joker is a girlboss to me. feminism win

ngl before i started playing i kind of already knew that i’d like this guy. i didn’t know much about him other than gay little artist but i knew. i was right. i am incredibly fond of this guy. partially because i too am a weirdo artist with parental issues (his persona awakening had me like *vibrates*) but mostly because he is just so funny. look at this guy! look at his stupid little tail! i lost my mind while doing his first confidant event thing he is GREAT. QUEEN and then THAT WAS HER CODENme??? very cool of her. i don’t care about her that much but i do think she is cool. if i were to encounter her irl i would be so intimidated

he has not joined the team yet but he obviously will. i have not seen much of him yet but i do have many opinions. i did know he was this games komaeda archetype before playing because of the sheer amount of arguing i can vaguely remember scrolling past about him but even if i didn’t i would’ve instantly been able to tell. he’s fake as hell. i lose it every other sentence whenever he’s on screen WHO IS THIS GUY. “thesis antithesis *pretentious stuff*” “woowwwww you’re so interesting ^-^” “woahh look we happen to have met waiting for the train teehee” (whenever he pops up in those train scenes it feels like a jumpscare) there is a high percentage chance that i will like this guy a lot. there is a precedent for me really liking that sort of character and he is very entertaining. i hope he is just so unhinged. i mean there’s like a 99% chance he’s the ~mysterious guy causing all the accidents~ and also the “heh kid u were betrayed by one of your own” guy. so. he gives me the vibes of one of those really tiny cutesy dogs who are just incredibly aggressive. funny to me how ryuji hates him to an absurd degree like buddy chilll yeah he sucks but wowww. i LOVE that stupid doodle of him on the classroom chalkboard. the anime sparkles. his hair is ugly btw. we met on 6/9 which turns me into a 12 year old. i enjoyed our silly little tv debate

JJBA (VA) Purge AU (cont)

part 1

(if the layout feels messy, it’s bc im literally brainstorming as i go lol)

since Italy obviously doesn't have Founding Fathers, i've decided that:

- the Purge is an idea from a branch of the government called Arrow

- the idea is that each year an "arrow" will be "shot" (ie the Purge) to "kill off" the suffering & crimes & poverty & general unwanted bs in the world (or just Italy i guess jsgjfhdhd), and then Requiem Italy is post-Purge, or "cleansed" Italy

4. Bucciarati:

i'm pretty torn on Bucci's background. at first i was like "he's gonna be this righteous leader against Arrow," but that's kinda boring and my bruabba braincells were acting up, so:

Bucciarati doesn't need the Purge. he justifies who he kills, and why, himself. the whole thing abt his parents' divorce and his dad's encounter with suspicious people still happened, so he kills to protect his dad (& other innocents when needed).

unfortunately, the suspicious ppl his dad encountered was affiliated with Arrow, and soon they realize that they can't have 1) people going around dirtying Arrow's image (like Bucci's dad), and 2) people who don't see the benefit of the Purge (Bucci who just commits crimes blatantly). so they send people (kinda like Big Daddy's minions in "Purge: Anarchy") to kill off Bucci's dad. Bucci becomes better and better at killing by defending his dad from these oncoming attacks, and he also realizes that Arrow's program is only to benefit the people in power and the rich. plus they aren't even following the rules they preach, and instead just flat out target the Buccis 24/7, since they're only a poor family of two. Bucci refuses to participate in Purges, but kills Arrow soldiers regularly.

and then word gets out to the police. since Bucci is basically a rogue criminal who's managed to evade the law (Arrow can't get rid of him but they can't arrest him either bc then it would be obvious that they're trying to cover up sth sus), the police sends Abbacchio after him in that year's Purge.

side note abt the timeline:

- let's say "that year" is either 2001 (when canon VA happened) or 1/a few years before, i haven't decided

- Giorno probably killed his parents in 2000's Purge

- Fugo & Abba Purge every year so the timeline doesn't mean shit to them :'D

5. Mista:

mmnnggghhhhh im really struggling w Mista & Narancia :'D let's see:

since canonically Bucci recruits Mista for his gunslinging skills, and before he joined Passione Mista was just this guy who was trying to mind his own business, have a good life & maybe do morally good things once in a while

so

Mista probably doesn't Purge. he's one of those ppl who lockdown at home and just chill while listening to the raging bs outside. he's on the fence about whether Purge actually benefits society or not.

he will become involved with the Purge and the fight with Arrow one day, but i'm starting to come up with a plot for this, so no spoilers ;)

but i will say this: even if Mista happens to be out in the streets during Purge one day, he'll probably be fine purely bc his gunslinging skills are so great.

6. Narancia:

(back to struggling)

Narancia is a rich boi, but neither he or his family enjoys Purging. they either only watch Purges happen like rich elites do, or just lockdown like Mista and doesn't care. but then Narancia's mom died, and his dad's attitude began to change, so Narancia became rebellious and joined a gang (that one with that blond dude that later betrayed him, y'all know what im talking abt). this gang is kinda like that weird-ass creepy gang at the beginning of "Purge: Anarchy," in that they tail ppl around and kills/vandalizes for fun. and Narancia was still just an impressionable young boi with a knack for violence and destruction, so he's like "hell yea hail Purges"

so that's what Nara does, until one day the gang leader (blond dude) gets greedy and orders the gang to do some illegal shit like minutes away from the ending sirens. (oh yeah and he already told Nara to dye his hair so he'd look like him.) and then when the sirens blare, Narancia is stuck behind "committing a crime," so he's put into juvenile jail. in there he has quiet reflection time, and he realizes that Purges do nothing but hurt the weak & vulnerable, and became disgusted at his old way of thinking. so when he was released, he swore off Purging. but ofc his gang isn't happy about that, so they probably come back to terrorize him or some shit. AND his dad probably is deadbeat asf and doesn't even give a shit abt his ex-convict son, so Narancia becomes this scared child out in the streets, living in fear of the next Purge that he sees others preaching about every day.

IM SO TORN IN TERMS OF SHIPPING YALL HAVE NO IDEA, LIKE:

- bruabba?? DEFINITELY HAPPENING i live & breathe for them i love them sm

- giomis? to be completely honest, even when i was watching the anime for the first time, i never felt the same passion for them as other fans seem to :'(

- so im really thinking abt fugio, which will be great cos i already have a scenario abt how they're gonna meet

- but then fugonara comes to torment me, and like, i don't ship naramis either. and i'm like, not everyone has to fall in love. so i'll just have bruabba and fugio??

obv Diavolo is the asshole who runs Arrow and proposed the Purge to the Italian gov first.

in this AU he and Trish will probs have a relationship cos i do be having daddy issues tho and i just need my dad representation ;_; but that don't mean this gna be a good relationship :')

Diavolo's probably also deadbeat asf, but Trish knows this young man, Doppio, who seems to work closely with her father, but unlike many of his colleagues is very sweet to her. the only thing she kinda hates abt him is how he always praise Arrow and the Purge, as if it's the one solution to all the problems in the world.

Trish herself is indifferent towards Purge. she never has to participate anyway, and is never in danger either (bc of her dad obv). but she always feels icky when she has to go to these over-the-top parties where rich people gather to watch the poor & the crazy slaughter each other. but if given the choice, she will probably just turn a blind eye and be a bystander to ppl's suffering, since she isn't sure if she even has enough strength to go against her father.

Trish will also get involved w Bucci and stuff, but i 1) haven't decided how yet, and 2) don't wanna provide spoilers, soooooo

Some things I was disappointed with in KH 3 writing wise

Spoilers up ahead, so if you have’t seen the game, or haven’t finished it, don’t read this.

Don’t get me wrong, in the end, I really loved this, but there were some things that were very disappointing that I wanna talk about.

This is mostly concerning the final battle in the keyblade graveyard but I’m gonna start with the one before it.

1. Aqua.

I really loved that idea.

When I saw the trailer I was STOCKED, i was scared for this game pulling emotional strings on me when I saw her.

She honestly turned out to be a disappointment;;;;;

And no, I’m not gonna talk about how I don’t like her VA, or rather how she voice acts.

The execution was actually really really great, don’t get me wrong.

But afterwards;;;;; when you beat her?

That was very disappointing, we get no development for Aqua whatsoever.

We don’t get to see Aqua doubting herself, we don’t get to see Aqua ashamed of herself falling into darkness. (I get that it wasn’t her fault, but still, people blame themselves for a lot of things that weren’t their fault, this should be one of them)

2. Vanitas

Now, I know what your probably thinking.

“What about Vanitas?” 

What about him is a lot of things, he’s HALF of Ventus, his dark half.

Remember how broken Ventus looked when he was split into two?

Remember that face he made when the x-blade was drifting away from him?

That was potential, and I’m not even going into the novels!

His theme was played in “Heroes and Heroines” section in the KH Orchestra, his name is Latin for “Emptiness, worthlessness.” because that’s he is to Xehanort, 

And while I had no expectations for this game cause I knew it would be great, they put that scene with Vanitas where he called Ventus his brother. They put that scene in before he disappears where he says he’s always been on their side, and honestly, no??

And why does he disappear? Why doesn’t he become one with Ventus?

A better character arc for Vanitas is for him to continue wanting to be whole with Ventus, and him realizing that listening to Xehanort and forging the key-blade would not stop his endless cycle of pain. (Whooshes, I tapped into the novel)

3. Xion

What.

What was that with her?

Do you mean to tell me she’s been her the whole time since the moment they made her again???

I have many issues with Xion’s return and here they are.

1. It wasn’t emotional, at all. I was expecting my heart to be torn out into pieces fighting Xion, like we were when we fought her in 358/2 days. But..... it wasn’t, and you can’t call that boss fight with her an actual one because half way through one bar of HP we get her AND Roxas back (which is another problem I have and will say in a bit)

2. They pulled it out the bag. Why did they make her again? How did her heart find her way back here? Why didn’t she have yellow eyes? Why wasn’t she a nort? Isa was a nort and he turned out to be fine in the end. I expected this game to break my heart in a very bad way, but I didn’t even shed a tear. There are so many plot holes with her and another thing that I’ll say later because my number one issue with the writing is this

4. Roxas

1. Just like Xion, it was pulled out the bag.

I don’t mind Roxas coming back, I really don’t, however here’s the problem I have with both Xion and Roxas coming back.

There were no consequences whatsoever.

We are told by Xemnas and Ansem that Sora would have to give into the darkness for Roxas to come back, that were was a price to pay. (Of course, Goofy points out that they both are existing separately, but the difference is they use darkness, Sora doesn’t willingly and Rage Mode doesn’t count)

2. Because they pulled it out the bag, there was no build up to it.

If your going to say a character is going to be a huge secret, your going to have to at least build up to it.

And no, Sora saying he’s going to find Roxas doesn’t count as buildup because in the end, he really didn’t;;;;;;;;;;;

Roxas just came back out of nowhere, and that was a MAJOR problem.

There’s no consequences, and there’s no build up.

I’m glad Roxas is back, he’s my favorite, however, I don’t like how he came back. Especially since the way he came back;;;;;; it ruins the scene in KH 2 and 358/2 days now. Because now we know they got their happy ending.

5. Kairi

She’s something I can forgive, actually, because she got what she deserved.

She kicked ass, she had screen time, and plot importance.

However, there were some major flaws.

She was taken out too soon.

When Sora and Kairi shared that paopu and swore they would protect each other, I was hoping it would be something like Bumblebee (yang x blake) where they’re both actually protecting each other. 

But, in the end, it was mostly Sora protecting her, (granted there was that one scene after Sora saved everyone form the lich, she was there to guide him, and I’m not saying Sora protecting her is a bad thing, I loved the scene where he hugs her instead of pulling out his keyblade to protect her from Terra)

She had a keyblade, she was training, she can protect herself.

Show that off.

And another thing.

They didn’t quite build up enough for Xehanort killing Kairi.

That’s something I can forgive, but here’s something I can’t quite forgive.

Sora was crying and pissed off when he did that, yes, but not for long. 

Why tho? HE LITERALLY JUST KILLED THE PERSON YOU WANT TO SPEND YOU LIFE WITH.

YOU SHOULD BE MAD, NOTHING SHOULD BE ABLE TO CALM SORA DOWN, XEHANORT LITERALLY KILLED SOMEONE YOU SPENT YOUR WHOLE LIFE WITH.

Also why wasn’t Riku pissed at the slightest?! I thought Kairi was his best friend too.

6. Namine

She was on the box art and she only had one scene, I think you all know my problem.

Skamfr - episode 3

life kind of got in the way and I forgot to post my reactions to the clips but, I still want to do it because it’s fun. So!

Après coups. 

The guy who tells his friend what happened to Alex is hilarious. 

I love that Emma isn’t laughing when she says that Charles was with a girl. 

The contrast between Daphné’s worry and Charles’ answer is really telling, and thanks to the way she delivers that line, you can definitely see that Daphné knows that. She knows that his answer isn’t great.

“donc ça va” I laughed. Lula is so talented.

 Charles and Alex are not in the hospital! plot twist. They’re at school. 

It’s cool to see someone stopping Alex to talk to him. It kind of shows that they have friends/are sociable.

Charles doesn’t care about that girl, tho, because ... oh. Manon is here.

The way Manon is looking twice at him, while Daphné is still talking about the mysterious girl is great. I think it shows their connection well. 

Manon’s silence throughout the exchange is even more telling than Noora’s I think because Manon talks a lot and never hesitates to tell Daphné what she’s thinking. She doesn’t even seem to be afraid of Daphné knowing about the date, she seems a bit lost in her own thoughts and then, when she spots Charles, you can guess she was... putting all the pieces together. 

Daphné asking Emma to ask Camille and Emma saying she’s gonna ask is great. They unapologetically love gossip.

Petit gabarit

Daphné... Maybe you could avoid talking about Yann hookup to Emma? but nice first impression Anna, see you later. 

Daphné doesn’t stop, does she? 

Emma sliding away from Daphné when she sits down too close... same. She seems really bored.

 “like you” “nonsense” Manon, can I remind you that Charles, in fact, likes you best?  I mean... I know it’s a tricky situation, but I feel really bad for Daphné because there are so many occasions when the girls could have acknowledged that Charles is just... not interested in Daphné like she wants him to, and the girls just do not and every time they’re letting her build her own reality in her head and it’s sad. Even sadder because I know that in like, one week, Manon is gonna prove her right. 

Manon... nobody said you had to go to that party, but okay! and now that you made sure the girls know you’re not going, you can’t find an excuse, lol.

Look, I say it all the time but Emma is my favorite. The moment it clicks in her head is so clear. 

and suddenly, her love for gossip wakes her up. 

I love how excited she gets because she busted Manon. We know she struggled a bit with her grades so that makes sense.

‘You understand why I can’t go?’ ‘no’ Oh my god, the way she says ‘no’. 

Manon, your explanation does not make sense. 

Emma is so funny. 

Manon not being able to calm Emma down is so interesting because it’s like... the moment she loses control.

but also, Lisa’s rant is so... fitting right now with all the problems in the universities, here. That’s truly something someone could say.

So, Charles rejected Daphné, who cried and left, and neither Emma or Manon are going to try to find her? send her a message? It still doesn’t make a lot of sense, like in Skam. 

Yann and Emma are cute.

Ok so Charles lies to the policemen. 

Everyone says goodbye to Charles. I don’t know if it’s a French thing or not, but I was surprised that nobody said bye to William when I first watched Skam, so it does make sense to me. He’s so friendly with everyone, too. 

Yann and Emma are surprisingly friendly with him. I love the little interactions between them.

It’s not a big deal, but you can guess that part was a bit improvised because Charles says they can go to Léo’s and you can hear Yann (Léo in real life) saying “Yes you can” and laughing. 

Noora, Manon..... Linn/Lisa explicitly told you they were staying home. So you can go home without Eskild/Mika. You just don’t want to.

Charles’ smile when he tells Alex and the girls to go, though. 

I love that he acknowledges the girls' existence. 

I miss Chris

Manon, you didn’t even try to call Emma? but okay.

Charles, unsurprisingly, lied to the policemen because his dad is in London and her mother is in the 16th district with one of her new boyfriends. The fact that he thought of lying, and corrected himself, shows how unusual his situation is.  And “one of her new boyfriends” is... interesting. 

Charles is so cute when she asks for hot chocolate.

The talk about Charles’ mother is interesting, like in og because... why would you ask someone why they don’t live with their parents (especially when you don’t either) and why are you expecting a ‘great’ answer? if Charles doesn’t live with his mom, it surely is because their relationship is not great. He won’t sit on the couch and tell you everything that happened in his life and lead him in this situation. So he goes straight to the point. ‘she’s a bitch”. And like, I get Manon’s reaction because yes, it’s violent and he shouldn’t use that term, and even less about his mom. But when someone says that about their mom, is it really fair to defend the mom, even when you don’t know why he’s using that term? I mean... Manon doesn’t know the whole story. She doesn’t even ask. So, yes, that term is not great. But the fact that it’s the first word that comes to his mind is a bit more concerning, at least to me. Ok, Charles is a jerk. but for a guy to say casually that his mother is a bitch, there has to be some dark history. I don’t know. Defending someone you don’t know just in the name of feminism, in this context, doesn’t seem necessary to me, but that’s just me. I get it, but at the same time....eh. 

Manon is angry because she asked him about his mom and he answered? okay?

Like Noora with William, she doesn’t believe him, 

I love how playful Charles actually is. He respects some boundaries but still teases her and answers her back and forth. 

Manon, in case you didn’t notice, you’re flirting with him.

 Manon, you asked him to show you his technique. You asked you received.

Luca has a love (?) interest of sort but he’s not been posted about yet hohoho maybe sometime in the near future. Still deciding about Isa and Ana’s relationship, but maybe. Who knows? That’s about it as far as the ones I’ve posted about go :D

She is!! She’s sort of a jock, a bit of a dummy and really loud, she’s easy to make laugh and got the type of laughter that makes you wanna laugh with her so when she’s around the mood is always a good one! She’s not exactly a social butterfly, but she’s got no problems with socializing, knows by instinct how to bend her behaviour to fit with all types of people and has the incredible ability to have every and all awkward situations fly right over her head, she just doesn’t notice them, and that makes it hard to be anything but relaxed when she’s around. She’s actually how she and Ana got in the group, since she’s gym buddies with Leo! She also really really likes ball sports :D

Ana’s an introvert all the way through, on the other hand - she’s really witty and sassy when she feels comfortable enough, and sarcasm is her preferred way of communicating, but if she doesn’t know you/ too many people she isn’t 100% comfortable with are around she comes off as timid and closed off, smiles politely and barely utters a word - people assume she’s the subdued and shy type at first so once she starts opening up it’s always sort of a shock haha she’s got a scientific mind and while she isn’t a “gifted kid” like Chris she likes to learn and study a lot, which is why she ended up having a real great relationship with Chris specifically out of everyone in the group (they like to nerd out together) (Josh isn’t particularly happy about it, the jelly idiot)

OH BOY I love Daishou so much, I’m glad you like him too! Aside from how much fun he is to draw (and color! he’s a green haired boy and that matters lots to me haha) he’s got so much personality and he’s such an interesting character! I honest to god disliked him with a passion during the nekohebi game, actually haha but that’s how it is with most of my hq faves, after all hahaha glad you liked the doodles, by the way!!!

A fight with some punks back when he was a teen that ended up escalating when knives became a thing that was being used :O he comes off as the dangerous sorta type which makes good people steer clear and bad ones come looking for trouble/ pick fights with him cause they assume he was picking a fight cause of his resting bitch face. Kaminari in his room also has a dart board, a basketball and a dj console, and that’s only the stuff whe can see so actually, considering in his likes there’s “cool things” I think he’s the type of boy that tries to pursue any hobbie he might think would make him look cool, so either he has no clue how to use any of the cool things in his room above a vaguely amatorial level or he’s still pursuing all of those interests! the return of: rewatch

Back to the Kindergarten! I’ve been looking forward to this. :D :D :D

Do you think I’m gonna rewatch this as often as I do the other Amedot-heavy episodes?? Probably. God, even when I was a baby in this fandom I remember realizing I’d watched Too Far at least six times when I’d watched the rest only once or twice. ANYWAY, here we go!

(LOL THIS TOOK ME OVER AN HOUR BECAUSE I KEPT GOING BACK TO REWATCH STUFF and I typed SO FUCKING MUCH STUFF)

Why does Steven even set an alarm? He doesn’t go to school? Whatever.

The three things he has to do in the kitchen sink now..... like, I reallllly don’t think he actually poops in the sink, that’s just....too much. (I think he does that at the car wash’s bathroom.) I mean we see him brush his teeth and wash his face and hair and I guess the assumption is that he pees in there? Maybe it’s meant to imply taking a bath, brushing teeth, and peeing? I DON’T KNOW. WHAT THREE THINGS IS IT. (”Just go in the ocean, bro! Pssht. Like a fish.”)

The whole “Peridot’s still sad???” implies it’s been more than one night? Thought Amethyst is not known for being patient with people getting over something. Like that time she cared the shit out Steven in Catch and Release: “I'm back to kidnap you! What, it's been long enough that we can joke about it, right?” “It’s only been like an hour!”

I love that she listens to country music. Several people have suggested it’s of the ‘my wife left me and she took the truck’ variety.

I’m side-eying myself slightly for having watched those goofy videos of the VA’s in the studio last December so many times that I recognize one of Shelby’s lines of mumbling. Actually on re-watching I have context for a lot of the random stuff we overhear during those videos. 

God, Peridot’s face. I’m so glad they went for over-the-top here.

The way Amethyst mentions the other amethysts suggests she’s talked about the whole thing with both Steven and Peridot. “Now that I’ve met the neighbors” aaaah my heart!!!

Do think Amethyst forbids her from bringing her music because it’s depressing or because Amethyst dislikes country music? (I think it’s both.)

From now on I’m calling trains “clackity ships.” (Not really, but that’s funny.)

Their whole conversation about the famethyst is the best thing, especially the way it ends with “that’s pretty amazing, ‘dot!” and Peridot blushing. I’m going to rewatch it before moving on. Okay I’m going to rewatch it twice. (Okay, three times. Dang.)

I’m never over the fact that injectors look like bacteriophages (viruses that only attack bacteria). 

It’s really interesting to me that Peridot and Amethyst’s views on kindergartens have literally changed places. (I made a separate post about that.)

This bomb has some gorgeous animation. Amethyst’s expression while Peridot talks about Kindergartens, the wind in her hair--it’s fantastic. 

The line about “well, all the well-made amethysts are gone” I genuinely can’t tell if it was Peridot’s attempt at making a joke or if she’s just forgetting, in her grief, to not be mean???

“I’ve been hanging around this place for 5,000 years” okay but not full time??? I still wanna know how long she was alone there before the CG’s found her. “For a while, I guess, until I met your mom and the others” AAUGH TELL US. I know I’ve whined about how much I want an Amethyst flashback episode but COME OOOONNNNN. 

Knowing that that flower was actually a corrupted gem.....do you think them touching it tickled. 

NGL, the first time I watched this, the moment they decided to plant stuff there, I was like “there’s no fucking sunlight this is gonna be a horrible disaster.” I mean, if a place on earth is capable of sustaining any life you have to actually work at preventing it. I saw Mt. St. Helens the first time only about fifteen years after it had erupted and places that had been completely burned and covered in boiling mud and ash were already covered in small plants and shrubs and things. Even deserts and tundras have active, delicate ecosystems. 

IIRC the tractor was in the barn when she moved in, but where did she get gas for it and seeds and stuff? Do you think Peridot and Lapis had an allowance from Greg? Did they sell Morps?? Can you imagine Lapis and Peridot at a gas station? At a farm supply store? (There’s a hilarious fic in there somewhere.)

This whole flower planting montage is the best, even knowing what comes after. They’re so cute I can’t fucking stand it. And Amethyst and Peridot both do the “tongue out when making effort” thing (which I do, too; sometimes) and This Kills The Woman

Where did Amethyst get the flamingo tho 

Hhhhh the way Amethyst looks at Peridot and says “oh yeah?” to keep her talking I know this is my OTP and I have my shipping goggles on but YOU GUYS. Peridot’s doing her little “I’m explaining a thing” body language and tone of voice, and Amethyst thinks it’s adorable, and you’ll never take that away from me. 

They still took the fucking train. Do you think the conductors on that route talk about them. (True story: I used to know people (okay lbh white cis dudes) who did train-jumping. It’s illegal and people who work for train companies are not very nice when they catch you, but if you manage to hop on a freight train and not get caught it’s certainly a cheap way to travel long distances--as long as you don’t mind living outside with no source of water or place to use the bathroom other than what you bring with you, especially since nobody leaves those car doors open anymore because of train jumpers, so you’re stuck jumping onto those platform cars with no walls or roof. I think I’d rather just pay to be on a passenger train, but you do you.)

Hydrangeas change color depending on the acidity of the soil they’re in. Sometimes they’re purple and sometimes they’re pink and sometimes they’re a super pale green. I have no idea if the crewniverse was trying for some kind of symbolism or just thought it would be fun to make Amethyst say “hydrangea.”

Ugggh even knowing how heart-breaking it was to see the dead flowers it’s still hard to watch. Poor Peridot. I wonder if it was just lack of sunlight or if the soil itself is toxic--I wouldn’t be surprised. 

Peridot’s tantrum might be melodramatic but I can understand it. I think being actively angry and venting her worst feelings is still probably better for her than being flopped over in the bathtub. “We might as well just throw it in the garbage and toss ourselves in after, because it’s all just hopeless trash!” Like. Big mood, okay

The genuine regret she feels in that tiny short moment after stepping on the “flower,” though. I wanna hug her.

I just noticed the guitar music while looking at the sunflowers is an instrumental of Don’t Cost Nothing. Also plenty of other people have already talked about Peridot’s little speech here and their convo after as a metaphor for her friendship with Lapis etc. so I won’t bother. I will point out that after Steven jokes about her green thumb (does she even get the joke tho) when Peridot yells “I know that!” she has the fangy teeth. Nice. (Wait, did she have that during her tantrum in the Kindergarten? I forget.)

And then the snuggle afterwards. Yesssss.
