Wanna watch me ramble about Frank and Eddie's Parenting for Much Too Long? No? Too bad here it is anyway!

I see a lot of interpretations of Frank and Eddie as parents where Eddie is the more lenient parent while Frank is more strict. But what if it was the other way around?

Update: ok. this just turned into me talking about their flaws as parents,, oh well that's cool to think about to

Frank's "not afraid to get dirty" attitude could lend itself to him being a parent who would let his kid go about and explore (with appropriate supervision and reasonable curfew of course) and overall have more faith in them to not get in too much trouble. Curfew to him is an agreed upon time between him and the teen, so about 10-11pm, maybe 12am if they're old enough and it's not a school night. He's far less likely to ground or take away privileges if they get into trouble (unless it's school but I'll get to that), usually turning it into a learning opportunity. Maybe restricting curfew if necessary.

Eddie on the other hand, has some worry wort tendencies and would be Terrified of his babies going out on their own, even if they're supervised by a friend's parent. His idea of a weekend curfew is 7-8pm and he needs a phone call or text every hour. or maybe every half hour. And when they do get into trouble he is the first to lecture them. He's more likely to want to ground or take privileges entirely, not just change curfew. Eddie's fine with after school stuff because knows a Teacher will be there and it's a school program/function. Though field trips and prom still make him a nervous wreck.

Frank hardly gets to lecture the kid(s) because Eddie gets to it first. the only time he does is when Eddie gets Too Upset or overwhelmed and Frank's worried he'll start yelling at them.

Though Frank's not without flaw either. Frank is more concerned with grades than Eddie is. He's more likely to pressure them By Accident and bring up college a lot when they're older. Eddie on the other hand never went to college, and knowing the American school system, he probably had more 'C's than 'A's despite how smart he really is. So Eddie is less concerned with perfect grades and believes if the kid doesn't want to go to college they shouldn't be pressured into it.

I won't go too in depth but I don't think Frank did many extracurriculars in high school. Meanwhile Eddie was getting into all sorts of activities. So when their child's grades have been slipping, Frank is the one to bring up taking them out of their extracurriculars "so they can focus on their grades." To which Eddie responds with a very firm No because he knows how much extracurriculars can mean to a kid.

Frank is also more strict with chores and such. Their room needs to be clean before they go anywhere, they make their bed every day, etc. Eddie is on board, but he understands Organized Chaos and that sometimes it takes a few extra minutes to get up and start a chore. (ADHD and Depression let's go babyy) Though he is stern about getting them done by a certain time (like before dinner). Frank would rather it be done sooner/when told.

In conclusion, Frank doesn't mean to pressure them so much, and Eddie doesn't mean to be so overbearing. They're great parents, but no one is perfect. I think they'd learn and grow overtime especially with each other to bounce off of and rely on. So in the end they turn out to be great parents whose kid(s) call and visit regularly when they're adults.

Honestly, as someone who has been going through fictosexual attraction for years and also didn't know how to deal with it at first: Just write and think about the most self-indulgent bullshit you can picture. It is the only way to keep sane or so I've found.

BG anon again. I just got to the epilouge party and the letters. I knew Haarlep was a 'gift' from Meph, to 'keep Raphael busy'. I'm assuming because the Crown of Karsus heist by Gortash was Raphael's fault, either intentionally or indirectly, and Meph wanted to distract Raphael until he could recover the crown. Haarlep said he has gone back to Meph's palace in Cania. Where the boys are about to have their heist. Haarlep has a history of being helpful in heists. *wiggles hopefully*

So, the epilogue came quite a while after I started and had already mentally planned out Haarlep's storyline in Palmarosa. As a result, they're not with Mephistopheles, though I can still work them being a gift into the storyline, it's definitely not where we're going to see them!

Honestly I'd prefer that, because I prefer a storyline where Haarlep mostly just disappeared for a while to find out what the fallout would be, especially since they were bound to Raphael (this was in the canon before we got the epilogue).

When we see Haarlep again, it won't have anything directly to do with Cania or Mephistar or Mephistopheles at all.

One of the reasons I've taken great pains to stress that this story isn't at all canon compliant is, in part, that fic authors are just having to make up a lot of stuff before it gets confirmed in the canon. Just because what I'm writing gets retconned, doesn't mean I'm going to change my ideas! (Unless I think they make the story better, but in this case I don't want Raphael encountering Haarlep at Cania. I'm planning on Haarlep's return being pretty special in a different way).

(Also /random/ but we've had like 13 chapters of Raphael not trusting any fiends at all partly because Haarlep betrayed him, in part. Even if Haarlep was in Mephistar, I think Raphael would sooner kill them, or at the very least bring them to heel, than have them involved in a heist. Like the whole point of Raphael using Astarion and Fhaeleb is that he's less powerful than he was before, and was betrayed by fiend/s.)

So who is in Sewerhell exactly?

Everyone but the latest versions of Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Monty, Roxy, Sunny, Moon, DJ and the Minis, though honestly there's probably a few Minis down there too ngl.

Sewerhell is where all previous versions of those animatronics go, along with any other animatronics that have previously been in the Plex specifically. So you have a handful of Glamrock Freddy's, a bunch of Chica's, a bunch of Cupcakes, some Foxy's, some random non-sentient guys I made up like The Breaker, hordes of Staffbots, faulty endos, failed robotics projects, and whatever else ends up in there. Like book guys with my own spin on them I think there's like... well I can only think of one animatronic from the books I put in there right now but there's probably someone else I'm forgetting lmao

An askblog with everyone from Sewerhell would be so confusing because you'd have an ever growing cast of multiple of the same guys over with a sliding spectrum of design differences, but it would also be pretty funny with some of the dynamics I already have in mind for some of these guys lmao

AND if set in the Sewercontrol universe, the latest version of Roxy we all know and love can be there. I just had the thought before I got this ask that if I were to lose my marbles and even attempt a funny askblog, it'd be set after Sewercontrol so I wouldn't have to navigate any of that on an askblog of all things lmao, but it would mean I'd have to you know... write the fucking thing first??? Terrible. Awful. The universe is so cruel like that.

Ooh yesss, the streams really do seem to play a crucial role in this 🤔 Remember how the very first stream was so "heavy" with Olli, with the way Aleksi kept mentioning him, how they texted back and forth and how Olli even tried to call him as if it's something they just do (because it is!!). It was like a little (yes, very little) insight into Aleksi’s world, as he didn't yet try to filter it in anyway. But now? We know they're still close and spend a lot of their time together, but Aleksi chooses to hide it (and yes it's (mainly) Aleksi, because the other idiot rarely posts anything to begin with 😴). Why? Why why why why whyyyyyyy

So yeah, from this aspect it maybe isn't so far-fetched that the (shippy) comments Aleksi has been exposed to have had an effect on his behaviour on some level and have probably given much to think about not only to us but also to him 🤭 And like the creep I am, I’m just soooo intrigued by the idea that seeing those comments have been something (although not necessarily the only thing) that have pushed him on a journey of self-discovery, of which this stage of denial/avoidance we're currently witnessing is a natural part, I guess 🤔

this is bc fic reasons so ignore but i'm going back and forth on arthur's post s6 characterization/state of mind/exact trajectory. as i've said often enough i don't think he's "fine" or "better" in the sense fandom seems to think - neither the drugs nor the alcohol were actually the reasons or the causes for his issues is, but a symptom (or else a way to deal with them, particularly the junk in order to alleviate his feelings of guilt and shame) and of course some of it exacerbated his behaviour. not using might afford him clarity of mind and the ability to self-reflect, but we are still talking about arthur here; during the show he is never really incentivized to actually do that (though hayden stagg's speech was getting at it, and it had some kind of effect on him) & yet throughout his confrontation with tommy at the office he's despairing, but also shows his gratitude, but all that is very much undercut with this persisting anger and resentment towards tommy and when they finally make a move to leave, he's *still* angry. i assume that after taking revenge in polly's name, he made peace with it all for the time being and the decision to die alongside tommy happened there, etc nothing new here

but i'm struggling with his reaction to tommy returning, for example: likely overjoyed, but tommy'll also probably have to dodge a fist coming his way hdhd, but it also goes far deeper than just that, etc

Nicolas was one of the characters that I very much latched onto when I very first read the books - in fact, Lestat/Nicki was my first ship before I read QOTD and I always found the lack of utilisation of him in fandom really disheartening. I even got my hopes up when Lestat couldn't find him in Memnoch but so sad that he's one of the only constants to remain dead. I understand that's part of the tragedy of him, but I guess I thought if the others from the era get their shot at a life after, he ought to as well.

Trying to balance Nicki's difficulties - Lestat saying joy was hard for him is such a sucker punch because of how frequently in TVL Lestat draws lines between Nicki running his mouth or making a show compared to genuine feeling and how he can see the difference in his face - while showing that I suspect some of the worst of his early vampire mania came from the absolute trauma conga line that preceeded his being made into one is not the easiest, but I hope I'm managing.

I think once he got past his own sense of betrayal and managed to settle himself with the trauma if not deal with it, it wouldn't be all that different to Armand which makes their interactions fascinating to me. They are both dealing with a percieved sense of betrayal and their world view being thrust upside down at the same time and I think Armand did the best he could given the state he was in, but they deserved a chance to rebuild. Especially given Nicki's known for being acerbic and not holding back when I think Armand needs a sense of harshness because the softness, the pity, the compassion of the others is just not something he can deal with at that point. He's too raw.

I do have parts of the next bit written but I want to get it right because Nicki meeting Louis has been something I've wanted to do a for a long time.

This is also a reminder that I really need to give that AU a name now there's a few things in it.

It is SUPER spoilery re: one of Astarion's endings, and will likely mention the endings of plenty of other characters in the main ensemble too.

While parts of it aren't canon compliant, enough of it is that it will be very spoilery indeed.

Then again, if you don't pick that ending for Astarion, it won't be as spoilery, lol. This game is all about your choices! If you make all different ones to what these characters end up with, then it's a very different looking story.

But yeah I am going to say this one is super spoilery, which is why the tags include endgame spoilers / and post-game.
