The Forger (2011)

His Role: When I first watched this a while back, I thought Everly was going to be a more kinder man who takes Joshua under his wing... boy, was I wrong. He is so full of himself and thinks his the most hottest artist in that town, which I can't fully say, I don't fully comprehend the intricances of painted works. But I think it looks nice (when he's not copying others). He does take Joshua under his wing, but for more unsavory reasons. Watching him explain the process of art forgery and take such care with this delicate work was very enjoyable, I would like to see him paint his own work.

His lies of wanting to take in ths lost kid just for the purposes of profiting off his artistic gift? Sly and devious, then to over exert this poor, abandoned, literal child? Even more unethical than just forgery. While what he said about his mother wasn't too far off, it was still a hurtful thing to say towards a kid dealing with abandonment.

It's absolutely twisted for him to keep telling everyone (including Joshua) that it's for Joshua's own good, that this will better his life, and how Everly wishes that someone would've been so grateful as to give him that same chance at honing in on his talent and become successful. While Anne-Marie reasonably calls out his bullshit of not nurturing a child from a terrible situation and profiting off his hard work for his own gain.

For Joshua to go from a physically abusive mother to a mentally abusive, possible father figure is a horrible thing for any kid to go through and I'm happy that he's with someone who truly cares about his him.

I very much enjoyed Everly and Joshua's dynamic beginning to end. Especially how it changed when Joshua hid the artwork and Everly started to squirm at the thought of losing this big gig.

Little tidbit: If I were Joshua and suddenly a very imposing man just walks up behind me very fast and knowing he was pissed? I'd leap from fear so high I'd get stuck in a tree during their little walk and talk scene.

And how did our dear Everly fall from grace? Beautifully. Presenting the totally "untouched" work he "found" to be examined to be a true piece at his birthday party!? What could possibly go wrong? Everything. First, Anne-Marie comes up and tears it with a knife she threatens him with and her announcing his crimes that she had help with a long time ago. That's a bad look already, but oh no, the final nail on the coffin? Underneath the paint was a drawing of Dennis the Menace, a piece of masterful thinking from Joshua. He wasn't ever gonna get away with this, and Joshua has no interest of staying any longer.

The Rest of the Movie: I did think Amber and Joshua were kinda cute, but slow down was right, Amber! 30 minutes, and this is their second scene together and Joshua is already asking for a kiss? Then, forcibly kisses her anyway? Hormones be damned. It gets a lot less cute when his jealous ass can't behave during the party. Look, I get it, I wouldn't have assumed that was her cousin either by how close they were. I wasn't like that with my guy cousins but to still attack someone like that? Jeez. He didn't even hesitate. And him just lying to Anne-Marie about what happened? Goodness.

Ryan (Amber's brother) really was the true wingman in all of this. Even after all the fights.

The relationship between Joshua and Anne-Marie was sweet. It's understandable why she took him in so quickly, this kid needs proper care and comfort. Then, to find out an accidental fire caused her only surviving daughter to need life-saving surgery; which she funded from her forgeries. Only for her to die not too long after? I'm sure it was overly agonizing for Anne-Marie to go through, something that finally made her quit that art world. Her seeing more of Joshua's dark drawings of his mother's drug abuse was saddening to know that's all he saw of her. Her final reveal at Everly's birthday was a delight, she had zero fucks to give about this art world. But if I were Joshua? I'd be a little pissed that my thunder was stolen, but still, good for her. Good for them! He finally has a home.

Ms. Reese going out and searching for his mother like that, is an extra step I appreciate. Just for her to find an absolute mess of a person and to later learn she was abusing him was heartbreaking. All she wanted was to help and finds the worst in parenting.

The Poster Situation:

The first poster? Very obvious that whoever made this was trying to cash in the fact that Josh Hutcherson (Joshua) was in The Hunger Games and decided to use that font. Which is hilarious.

The second fits way more with the movie. I like the feeling it invokes.

And the third, I really like it. It slaps hard, but not for this movie.

agreed Maxim has tattooes. But i have this rlly cool idea that I've got detailed here for his tattoos and sigils here, which imma add more to as another buddy and I chat abt it ( @lethalwallflower go read her series)

I like the idea of Otto having some very small, very silly tattoo he got in college when drunk one night. It's shitty, and he never got another, but it was either a heart on his arm with 'mom' (Ignoring it's not there in the movie), or a simple diagram of... I don't know, an atom? just some silly science concept

Possibly controversial, however: Harding. Either he has a simple tattoo on his inner wrist that states his blood type and i kind of like the idea he's allergic to something used in the medical field but not common. but just a simple informational tattoo in case he's in an accident

Andres. Senna's name on his heart. She doesn't know about it either, bc there'd be no reason for her to. I also kind of like the idea of something like this or this on his calf or inner arm, that he got as a reward for a team one year.

Angel. (waves vaguely at him)

George Garea. I think he got something as a way to feel young before he and Ben got married, or they went and got some silly little lavender or pansy tattoo that matched and he'd look at it when he missed Ben.

The waiter from Vice. I dont know why I believe this. I have not yet watched Vice.

Everly Campbell. You don't become an art forager without getting permanent art in your skin. I'd like to think it has something to do with like... Van Gogh but Everly doesn't think deeply enough about him to get that. Probably a brutalism piece.

Pepperidge. lost a bet and got one. He needs to stop making bets.

Jimmy Styles; he and Gene got drunk. He was yelled at. Then made fun of. Then his wife got it too, then his daughters did too when they were able to as a way to keep making fun of his drunken mistake.

Rahad Jackson. Someone tattooed a dick onto his ass. He responded with giving them a drug with smth laced, depending on who it was, to either just have a bad trip or kill them. he covered it with a snake piece that went up his back. he did get high and did the entire piece in one sitting.

A Breath of Fresh Air With Sandy Kaye bombshellradio.com Tuesdays 1pm EST and Fridays 8pm EST Archival shows : bombshellradiopodcasts.com   Born in Memphis, singer/songwriter/guitarist, Billy Burnette spent most of his youth in the presence of father Dorsey and uncle Johnny (of the legendary Rock and Roll Trio).  The Trio made the Rockabilly name famous by combining the name Billy and his cousin Rocky for the 1953 “Rockabilly Boogie” – thus making the term Rockabilly a household name. The legendary trio influenced a diverse array of Rock icons including: the Elvis, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Rod Stewart, Aerosmith, and Ricky Nelson. Elvis used to spend many evenings jamming with the band. It’s not surprising then that Billy started making music at the age of 7.   At 15 Billy picked up a guitar and began writing songs.  At 18, he was only a week out of high school when he recorded an album with famed Memphis hit-making producer Chips Moman (“Suspicious Minds” and “In the Ghetto” for Elvis). In his early 20’s, Billy wrote songs for artists like Rod Stewart, Ray Charles, Roy Orbison, Tammy Wynette, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Everly Brothers, Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn, Glen Campbell, and many more.   In 1980, Billy met Mick Fleetwood (of Fleetwood Mac).  The two musicians became fast friends and formed the band Mick Fleetwood’s Zoo in 1983. Soon after Billy began his journey as a member of one of the greatest rock bands of all time.  Billy joined and toured with Fleetwood Mac between 1987-1995, appearing on many of their albums.   In 2003, Billy co-wrote a tune for Bonnie Raitt and Ray Charles called “Do I Ever Cross Your Mind.” This tune appeared on the album Genius Loves Company, which was the last studio album that Ray Charles recorded and completed. The album garnered 10 Grammy nominations and won Album of the Year.  A collaboration with Shawn Camp and Dennis Morgan became the hit song “River of Love.” George Strait recorded the tune for his 2008 album Troubador, and “River of Love” went on to become Strait’s 44th Number One hit single.  In the last few years, Billy Burnette has contributed his talents as a guitar player and singer on tours with legendary musicians Bob Dylan and John Fogerty. Additionally, he also collaborates regularly with the Mick Fleetwood Band. Today, Billy continues to write, record and perform. He lives in Nashville and remains as passionate about making music as ever. Jerry was born in Sunflower, Mississippi, and had 39 chart entries 1958-77. Three made the top ten.

Let It Be Me first charted for Jill Corey, peaking at number 57 in 1957. The Everly Brothers peaked at number seven in 1960 with it. It was the number 68 hit of the year. Glen Campbell and Bobbie Gentry's version peaked at number 39 in 1969, and Willie Nelson took it to number 40 in 1982.
