The Magic of Everyday: How I Find Witchcraft in the Ordinary.
🌿🌕✨
Do you ever stop to marvel at the enchantment that surrounds us, hidden in plain sight? As I delve deeper into my journey of practicing witchcraft, I've come to realize that magic isn't just about casting grand spells or performing elaborate rituals—it's woven into the very fabric of our everyday lives.
🌟✨
Join me as I embark on this enchanting exploration of "The Magic of Everyday," where I'll reveal how I find witchcraft in the ordinary and embrace the extraordinary in the mundane.
🌟✨
Morning Brew, Morning Spells ☕🔮 Every morning, as the sun rises and the world awakens, I stand by the window, cradling my warm mug of tea or coffee, or in the summer months with iced drinks (I love an iced coffee!). With every sip, I imbue my drink with intentions of clarity and peace.
The Language of Plants and Crystals 🌿💎 During my daily walks, I've discovered a secret language spoken by the plants and crystals. The rustling leaves whisper ancient wisdom, while the sparkling crystals hum with energy. Nature, the most potent spell caster, teaches me to be still, listen, and learn.
Embracing the Elements 🌊🔥💨🌍 The elements surround us at all times, and recognising their presence is a powerful key to unlock everyday magic. I breathe in the fresh air, feel the earth beneath my feet, and let the rain cleanse my spirit. When I light a candle, I invoke the transformative power of fire. By connecting with the elements, I connect with the core of existence.
Enchanted Home Space 🏠✨ My home is my sacred space, a sanctuary for my craft. I've adorned it with little altars and candles, which I light to honour the spirits that reside within these walls. Cleansing my space with smoke incense purifies and refreshes the energy, filling the air with positive vibrations.
Moonlit Dream weaving 🌙🌌 Under the moon's tender gaze, I venture into the realm of dreams. I keep a dream journal by my bedside, capturing the mysteries that unfold during the night. In the gentle light of the moon, I feel closer to the universal energy that weaves us all together.
🌟✨
In the grand tapestry of life, there's magic in the ordinary—waiting for us to embrace it with wonder and gratitude. By cherishing these moments, we tap into the essence of witchcraft, where intention and reverence converge.
So, as you go about your day, remember to pause, breathe, and observe the magic that surrounds you. Whether it's in the flight of a butterfly, the sparkle of dew on a leaf, or the warmth of a friend's smile, the enchantment of everyday life awaits your discovery.
🌟✨

Don't you just hate it when you get up to grab a quick cup of elixir and your familiar settles down on your open book? Now you can't study your spells because they're just too cute to disturb!

Learning to Cook like a Witch: Beyond the Spice Cabinet
One of the greatest witchcraft life hacks known to magickind is the kitchen spice cabinet. You can make a thousand spells just using the same herbs and spices you use for cooking. Yeah, sometimes, you need something a little more difficult to get your hands on, but often, you can find a substitution within the confines of your kitchen.
This is really common advice: Work with what you have. I see more advanced practitioners pointing to the spice aisle all the time.
But I find that we're neglecting something else equally important and useful: the rest of the kitchen.
Why stop at the spice cabinet? Everything in your kitchen, from the tools you cook with to the utensils you eat with to the non-spice/non-herb ingredients in your cabinets and fridge, all of it has purpose. Expand your thinking beyond herbs to food in general. Look to your other shelves, open up your fridge. What do you find, and what can it be used for?

I do believe in an everyday sort of magic -- the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone ...

finding magic
If you ever find yourself feeling sad about living in a world without magic, or miracles, or whatever word/concept you prefer, just remember:
There exist winged, living creatures that glow in the dark.
Berries that were unripe yesterday, inedible last week, nonexistent last month, turn sweet and delicious of their own accord overnight. And after you pluck them to eat or to share, new ones spontaneously appear and ripen to take their place.
Merely by breathing on liquid elixir or waving a wand that has been dipped into the potion, one can create streams of iridescent, translucent, ephemeral jewels that float in the breeze and then vanish in the blink of an eye.
And here I am sitting here in one little corner of the world, and you are off in your own corner, perhaps thousands upon thousands of miles apart, and my words and thoughts have reached you without either of us needing to speak, to meet, to travel, or even to know each other by name.

I see some witches sad when Halloween is over, but November is the month of the dead. It's the perfect time for gratitude magic, protection spells, and ancestor work. When you're a witch, it's always Halloween!

Train Delay
It was never a good time for a train delay. After a busy day in the city, I didn’t have anywhere to be except home for a late dinner and an unmoving night on the sofa. But I was too exhausted to cope with any deviations from that plan, so I groaned when the train stopped just before one of the stations on the way. A red light, I assumed, until I looked out the window and froze in my seat. The wires of the overhead line swung dangerously back and forth, still intact, yet caught in such a terrible gust of wind that the question didn’t seem to be if they’d break, but when.
A shudder went through the train. In spite of my fear, I noticed the sky: it had turned deep purple, orange, and yellow, with only a single row of low clouds, and even those seemed to be rushing away from this place. Another shudder, and a shadow fell. The shadow of a mighty, pointed wing—and as a giant dragon flew just above the treetops not so far from the train, its gold-and-purple scales continued to reflect the light into the most beautiful sunset I had ever seen.
Perhaps this view was worth the delay.
[Image description: Photo of a stunning sunset above the black outline of some houses, trees, and street lanterns. Orange sunrays burst through a low line of clouds into the deep blue, almost purple, of the sky above. The black outline of the railway’s overhead lines is at the front of the picture.]
Adding a little announcement: the Kickstarter for The Neurodiversiverse: Alien Encounters will launch soon—this is an anthology of sci-fi short stories, poetry, and art, in which a short story by Paranatellonta writer Minerva Cerridwen will be published! Click “notify” on this page to learn more. Thank you!
