You’re preparing lunch in your modest kitchen, singing and dancing along to the music flowing from your bluetooth speaker, when there’s a knock on the door. Knowing Bucky can easily hear it and you're currently preoccupied you leave him the task of answering it. You listen to the door opening and murmurs of speech for a couple moments before it closes again and two sets of footsteps can be heard heading your way.
“Sam, what have I told you about at least texting before you come over.” You look up from the island, expecting to find a grinning Falcon before you but are caught off guard by the imposing form standing under the archway. “Steven?”
“Hey, doll.” He takes a step forward as you close your eyes, shaking your head to relieve you from the vivid hallucination that is taking up space in your home. It isn’t until Bucky places his cool metal hand on top of yours, giving it a squeeze, that you dare to open them again.
“What are you doing here? And most importantly why ? You went after your happily ever after. You shouldn't be here.”  You blurt out, disbelief showing on your face. Bucky without hesitation makes his way to your side of the island, showing his support and making sure to be within arms reach if you need him.
“It wasn’t quite as happy as I imagined it would be.” You watch his adams apple bob as he swallows. “All I wanted for so long was to have a do over with Peggy. So the first chance I had to fulfill that dream, I took it.” He places his hands on the island. “It was good at the beginning, but I couldn’t get you out of my head.” He locks eyes with you. “We barely spent any time together after a while. She was always working. Trying to better the world, leaving me alone with my memories of you. I found myself seeking out pieces of you in her. They always fell short. No one loved me like you. I wanted that back. So I decided I needed to come home.”
You take a deep breath to calm yourself, tears brimming your eyes as you hand Steve a dose of painful truths. "What we had was special Steven. I'll admit that. But it wasn't enough for you. I wasnt enough for you. Your head was always full of the what ifs. Your heart was never fully mine to begin with. I thought that as time went on, that my portion was growing in size. How wrong was I to believe such things.” A lone tear falls from your eyes.
“I'm a firm believer of actions speaking louder than words. You leaving me behind for a chance with her that day was all the reality I needed. It broke me. You broke me. Honestly if it weren't for Bucky, Sam and Clint’s family I don’t think I would have had the will to endure all that pain. I wanted the ground to swallow me up. I wanted to not exist so I wouldn't have to feel the pain of being abandoned for a ghost of your past. I was real, Steve. I was there. I gave you the pieces of me I hadn't shared with anyone else before and you took all of that for granted. And now you're back and expect that love to still remain intact.”
Your heartache seeps through your words, coating it in poisonous barbs, to protect what remains of the vulnerable organ. Bucky, your lover and loyal protector, moves in closer, wrapping his flesh arm around your waist, grounding you. “You have got to be kidding me. Even if I wasnt with Bucky, I wouldn’t take you back. Not after 3 years and having to rebuild myself. My standards have changed and you don’t meet them anymore.”
It’s as if your words delivered a swift punch to the gut for him as he lashes out with vitriol lacing his tongue. “And he does? My best friend. I always knew you had feelings for her. You couldn't wait to swoop in as soon as I was gone could you.” He has a white knuckle grip on the marble as he stares down the man he’s always trusted with his life.
Bucky just nods his head in disbelief as he replies. “I'm the bad guy, Steve, really?” He pulls you in closer to his side, done with the niceties. “If you must know. We didn't even broach anything near romantic until almost a year after you left us BOTH behind.”
He clenches his jaw as he gets that possessive glint in his eyes and you know he’s not going to hold back. “When it finally happened, a natural progression if you will, there was no turning back. She became mine, as I became hers. It was fucking magical. She always came for me. On my fingers. On my tongue. Clamped tight around my cock like a vice. Squeezing the life out of me.” He husks, ghosting his metal fingers across your collarbone. “I helped her forget about the pain you caused when you left her behind for the past. I gave her an outlet for that agony. We sank into the darkness of our loneliness together. Don’t tell me that didnt mean something. Don’t be that daft Rogers. Our love for each other is bone deep.”
Steve stares at the both of you, a loss for words.
“Mama” comes over the monitor sitting behind you on the counter. You turn to see your daughter standing in her crib having woken from her nap. She continues on trying to get your attention, “Mama”, “Dada” the only words you can make out from the babble.
“I’ll get her.” Bucky kisses your temple and proceeds down the hall.
“You have a baby?” Steve chokes. “How old?”
“She’s 15 months old.” You state.
“So, she’s not mine.” He whispers out.
“Not a chance pal. She’s all mine.” Bucky beams as he walks back into the kitchen, your daughter Amara on his hip.
“You never wanted kids with me Steve. Certainly not towards the end. Why would you think she was yours?” You ask.
“Wishful thinking I guess.” He looks over at the sweet cherub face cuddling up against her fathers chest. “She’s beautiful.”
“Bug, want to say hello?” Bucky asks his daughter, a hand running up and down her back.
The toddler eyes Steve and squeaks out a “Hi.”
“Hello sweetness. You look just like your Mama, but with your Dada’s eyes. Such a lucky girl.” You watch as his shoulders slump. “I screwed up royally. I acted before thinking, once again, and look at what it cost me. Everything I ever really wanted was always right here with you and now I’m going to have to watch it from the sidelines instead of being the one to share them with you.” A lone tear rolls down his cheek.
He wipes it away. “I know it’s not much, especially now. But for what it’s worth, I’m Sorry. Truly and deeply.”
“I know you are Steve.” You reassure him.
“We both do.” Bucky adds.
“I don’t hold it against you, ya know.” You impart, placing a hand on his. “If you didn't put me through all of that pain I never would have ended up here, with a life I never could have dreamt of. It’s not perfect, but that’s the point. It works for us and we’re happy. This home is full of so much love and communication. I had to be knocked down to know what I really needed in life. The things I wouldn't settle for. The things I deserved. I hope you can find that one day Steve. I really do.”
“Thanks, doll. I’m pretty sure that ship has officially sailed for me though.” He straightens himself out, Captain persona put back in place.
You give Bucky a look as he places Amara in her highchair. You can’t leave Steve in this state. No matter the pain he caused all of you, there is still love in your heart for him. “Stevie, would you like to stay for lunch?”
“I know Bug would love to get to know her Uncle Stevie.” Bucky states.
You watch a small smile emerge on his face. “I would enjoy that very much.”

bestie pls feed us spanking blurb, the immediate urge and need to be over daddy mafia ari’s lap whilst he just ignores ur pleas and cries and pulls down ur panties and spanks u 🥺😌
I’m literally at an airport so this’ll have to be brief but here goes… 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫
Pairing: mafia!Ari Levinson x naive!reader
Warnings: dark!Ari, dd/lg, smut, spanking, daddy kink, voyeurism, dry-humping
Summary: Your daddy punishes you after you accidentally say a bad word.
Tumblr media
“Daddy, please!” You cry, desperately wiggling around in Ari’s strong arms. He’s got a death grip on you, however, and he’s barely using even a quarter of his strength. “Please, didn’t mean to say it! Please!”
You hate punishments — especially spankings because they hurt and make you cry like a baby — even when you try your hardest to be brave. Even right now, you look at Ari with the biggest puppy-dog expression, eyes welling with tears.
“Honey, you know daddy has to punish you. Else you’ll never learn.” Ari’s got his stern voice on, which lets you know that there’ll be no worming out of this one. He easily manoeuvres your flailing body across his lap, pinching the flesh of your ass in warning, “and stop moving or else I’ll use my belt.”
You still immediately. He’s never used his belt on you but you don’t want today to be the day he does.
Sniffling, you look over your shoulder at him dejectedly, “Said I was sorry, daddy. It’s just— the oven was so hot and I forgot I’m not allowed to use big girl words— it just came out, I swear.”
Ari sighs, methodically flipping your skirt up and pushing your panties down, and he can’t help but squeeze the bare flesh of your ass. “Well, that’s another strike, because you shouldn’t be using the oven without supervision anyways.”
You pout, “b-but I’m your wife— how else am I supposed to cook for you? Ow!”
Ari gives your ass a firm slap, admiring how it jiggles, “Don’t get sassy with me, honey. You’re my wife but you’re also my baby. And what have I told you about babies?”
You hang your head dejectedly and recite: “babies like me aren’t allowed to do big girl things without daddy’s permission.”
“Good girl.” Ari strokes your hair back, petting your head like you’re his puppy, and you can’t help but lean up into his touch. “Now, baby. I want you to count every spank, and thank daddy after each one. Got it?”
Your lower lip quivers but you try to be brave, “Y-Yes, daddy.”
SMACK.
“O-One. Thank you, daddy.”
You grimace, biting your lip to keep from crying out loud. And Ari’s really enjoying himself, squeezing and groping at your sizzling flesh after every few spanks, as if he can’t help himself. He even presses his lips down on the sensitive flesh of your ass cheek, kissing you softly before landing another harsh smack.
“Look at your little baby ass, practically begging for a good old-fashioned spanking.” Ari murmurs, jiggling your cheek lewdly and making you wince because it hurts so much. “Baby wives like you need their daddies to keep them in check like this every once in a while, don’t you agree, honey?”
SMACK.
“T-Ten, thank you, daddy! I agree!” You cry, silently begging for mercy yet at the same time wiggling downwards, unable to keep still because the rough denim of his jeans feels so good against your throbbing pussy.
“Now look at you, wet from a spanking and humping your baby pussy on daddy’s leg like a little bunny in heat.” Another spank, and another one, and now you’ve lost count. “And in front of all your little stuffed animals too? You must feel so ashamed.”
You tearfully glance at all your stuffies, longing to have your stuffed rabbit, Floppy, in your arms to comfort you. Instead, you receive another series of hard slaps, the lewd sound of the smacks echoing around the room.
“Apologise to them too.” Ari orders you, voice dripping with authority and sick lust. “C’mon, honey. Apologise to your little stuffies for being such a naughty baby with a potty mouth.” He slaps your upper thigh and you hiss in pain, “Tell your little friends what a bad girl you are.”
“I’m a bad girl!” You cry desperately, unable to lock eyes with the toys, feeling silly and ashamed and humiliated all at once. “I’m sorry, stuffies and I’m sorry, daddy! Won’t ever swear again, please!”
A final slap and then Ari’s pulling you upright, gathering you in his arms while you sob into his chest. “There, there, baby.” He coos, kissing the top of your head and stroking your hair back, “Daddy had to do it. How else will little babies like you ever learn the rules?”
More kisses, more fondling, and he even licks up the stray tears falling down your cheeks.
“I know you’re just a baby and it’s confusing for you to remember all our rules— but that’s why you need daddy. I don’t want to hear another swear word come out of your mouth, you got that, honey? And no going near the oven, either. It’s dangerous for babies.”
You sniffle and nod, feeling especially small — as if you truly are his baby — as Ari cuddles you. Readily, you accept his thumb when he pushes it against your lips, sucking on it noisily to calm yourself down from the whole ordeal you’ve just gone through. Your ass feels like it’s on fire but you know that your daddy knows best.
“That’s my good little baby,” Ari coos, pinching your cheek and holding you close. And it’s crazy how he’s made you so addicted to his babying, to the point where you physically need him to act like this with you — especially after harsh punishments like this.
“Curtis.” Your eyes widen at Ari’s suddenly gruff tone, and your blood runs cold when you see your husband’s right hand man step out of the shadows in the corner of the room.
Had he been there this whole time?
“Cancel my meetings for today. My wife is being particularly needy.” He gestures down at you lying mortified in his lap, trying to push your skirt back down as you desperately continue to suck on your daddy’s thumb.
“Got it, boss.” The buzzcut-haired man nods and leaves, and Ari turns his attention back to you.
“Next time you break one of daddy’s rules, I’ll spank you in front of all my men, you got that?” He shoved his thumb further into your mouth, choking you slightly as your eyes begin to water, but he’s got the same loving look on his face.
“My little baby… soon enough I’ll have you trained to know all of my rules, even if it’s too much for your little baby brain to handle.”
THE END
AHHHH PLEASE LEMME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!! I wrote majority of this at the airport then finished it just now!!

Summary: part two of Too Late

Warnings: angst. fluff. lies? Steve makes an appearance.
Part 1
Masterlist
Tumblr media
Now in the two years since she had left she finally felt at peace, she found herself.
~~~
For close to a year Conrad would visit Y/n in her little sanctuary that sat alone in the woodland area, for those months Y/n didn’t trust him of course she didn’t he was a member of Hydra, the bad guys who spend years and years destroying the goodness that was James Buchanan Barnes, destroyed and killed those that didn’t bow down to them and abide by their rules.
And while yes Conrad decided not to put a bullet in her head like she had asked for him to do, choosing to open her eyes to the betrayal, he chose to give her a second chance in life he was still the guy apart of a terrible organisation.
Even though she didn’t trust him she did have to admit that she appreciated his help, appreciated his company. Every time he visited he brought supplies and food for her, he even showed up once with a van that had a ray of different livestock in the back so she could start a little farm up like she had wanted to do.
Y/n tried, she really did try to not get too comfortable with Conrad but he was just so easy to talk to about everything and anything, she appreciated that he never once mentioned Steven and his betrayal with Natasha. She hated how funny he was, she hated how much she missed him when he left to go back to the monstrous organisation that was Hydra. Hated how he occupied her mind when he wasn’t there helping around the house fixing things and only accepting a nice cold glass of homemade lemonade from her.
She definitely hated how much he looked so attractive when he chopped fresh firewood for her.
She especially hated that.
It wasn’t fair, he was supposed to be the enemy yet he had treated her better in those few months than anyone had ever.
Tumblr media
It had been exactly four months, three weeks and two days since Conrad had last been to visit and she hated it. Though she had the many animals to keep her company she had to admit she was kind of going a bit crazy.
Molly the cow would look at her like she was insane when Y/n would be perch upon on the wooden little stool that Conrad had made for her, talking to the cow as she milked her. Y/n swore that one time the black spotted animal rolled her eyes at the woman once.
Y/n walked into the pigpen fussing over the month old piglets that were the most precious little things she had ever laid eyes on. When her leg was knocked she looked down to see Grumpy, named perfectly for his grumpiness, she patted him on his head telling him to hold on for food, chuckling lightly when he snorted in response. The moment she finished putting the food in the trough she heard the unmistakable sound of a car coming up the gravelled driveway.
Nobody had ever come up to where she lived apart from…
“H-he’s back” she mumbled to herself before dropping the bucket with a clank and running out finding herself nearly tripping over her own foot when she had to turn back around to shut the gate of the pigpen.
Running to the front of the house she saw the same car Conrad always came in, her eyebrows pulled together when she saw two figures sitting in the front, as the car got closer her heart started beating faster as she noticed Conrad and another figure she had come to know because of Steve.
“Y/n-“ Conrad shouts as soon as he gets out of the driver side door “-god I’ve missed you” he jogs over to her and wraps his arms around her frame, pulling back when he notices she doesn’t hug him back but is staring at the other person who stands by the car. “I can explain everything I promise”
“It’s nice seeing you again Y/n.”
Tumblr media
Two sets of eyes moved back and forth as Y/n paced around in front of them. One was nervous the other didn’t care about her reaction, well lack of one. Conrad went to speak but the other person in the room shook their head.
“Y-you lied-“
“I didn’t lie-“
“You didn’t tell me the truth!”
“Because I couldn’t, I’m sorry Y/n”
“It’s true Y/n. He couldn’t tell you the truth”
The truth being that Conrad was never a member of Hydra but a SHIELD agent. He had been undercover for four years. There were a handful of agents that were sent undercover and Conrad was one of them, the plan was to take Hydra down from the inside.
From what Conrad had said that it had worked, they had successfully captured members of Hydra one by one.
“Bu-but your meant to be the enemy”
“Yet you trusted him”
Y/n’s eyes squinted at the man sat next to Conrad “I understand that I’ve got real bad judgment when it comes to trusting men Fury”.
“I understand your confused but to be honest Conrad never lied to you-“
“I’ve been thinking he’s the bad guy from the moment he kidnapped me!”
“And yet you trusted him enough to let him come into your home”
“I-shut up. Okay so why are you telling me now?”
“I’ll let him fill you in on that. I’m going to go, it was nice meeting you again Y/n, truly. Goodbye”
Y/n watches Fury stand up fixing his trench coat before nodding to both of them then leaving. Taking the car with him. Leaving with a promise, promising her that Steve doesn’t and will never know that she’s alive.
Conrad’s eyes never moved away from Y/n, patting the seat next to him sighing a breath of relief when she sits. “I’m sorry for not telling you the truth about me, I wasn’t allowed to.”
“No I understand, sorry for overreacting”
“You didn’t-“ he chuckles “I missed you”
“I missed you too”
“So I erm I-I told Fury I want to retire and he’s accepted it, bu-but I was wondering i-if you would have me, here I mean”
“You want to say here? With me?”
“I haven’t got any family anymore a-and I feel happy here”
Conrad hated the silence that followed, he was about to tell her that it didn’t matter, that he would still come to visit, that he was sorry for overstepping when she finally spoke.
“We’ve got piglets. They are the cutest things ever, want to come look?”
“”We”?”
“Well yeah you live here now so…”
He moved so fast wrapping his arms around her, bringing her into his chest. Mumbling thank you over and over again.
Tumblr media
In a way Conrad went off script when he took Y/n from her shared apartment with Steve, it was Hydra’s plan all along. The plan was to find a way to destroy Captain America. They had heard from a Hydra agent that was undercover with SHIELD that America’s golden boy had a girlfriend but was cheating on her with the black widow. The plan was to use Y/n as a way to get Steve to stop destroying their ‘hard work’. They were going to blackmail him, telling him that they won’t tell Y/n about his straying ways as long as he did what they said.
It was foolproof as the double agent told them that Steve was in love with Y/n.
Even though he had been cheating on her with someone she thought was her friend.
But Conrad knew that Hydra would hurt her just to get Steve to break. And that wasn’t something he could stand by and watch so he told the team he had been in charge of that he had gotten word that it was time to go ahead and kidnap Y/n. He did have to admit that it was admirable that she put up a fight against ten men who were ten times bigger than her, he hated it when Mitch punched her.
Due to having eyes on him he had to act as if the tears that were coming out from her pretty eyes wasn’t bothering him when she watched her boyfriend and friend sleeping together. When the Avengers showed up he couldn’t stop his eyes from rolling as Steve tries to make a pathetic attempt at explaining his betrayal. He did have to force himself to stifle the laugh that tried to make its way out when Natasha had tears in her eyes hearing that she meant nothing to Steve.
Conrad’s heart clenched at hearing that she was pregnant because she had already asked him to kill her, a thing that he agreed to do even if he didn’t want to. But hearing that she had lost her unborn baby made his heart clench even harder.
Getting her out of the rundown facility was easy as his team were to focused on keeping their eyes and guns trained on the Avengers. Getting her to the farmhouse that sat alone in the middle of nowhere was easy even if she was driving him mad when she kept asking him where he was taking her.
Fury found out that it was Conrad that had ‘killed’ Y/n a few months back when he had to meet the man to talk about how the progress was going. Fury was angry. He had met Y/n a handful of times he thought she was sweet, nice, definitely didn’t deserve to have her life to be ended the way it was. That was until Conrad told him the truth.
For the four months, three weeks and two days since he hadn’t seen her it had drove him insane he wanted so badly to reach out to her and let her know that he was thinking about her, that he was definitely coming back to her. Fury made him go no contact with her until the dust settled around them.
Conrad begged Fury not to let Steve know about Y/n being alive or where she was, Nick wasn’t a stupid man he knew that Conrad had clearly grown fond of Y/n. Finding out what Steve had done, he gave the man pacing around in his office his word. Steve would never find out.
Tumblr media
“Con! We’ve got a runner!” Y/n screamed trying to chase after one of the pigs who decided to make a run for it. “She’s coming your way”
“I’ve got eyes on her! I’ve got her!” He cheered picking up the animal, who actually sighed in defeat.
“Shes so fast it’s unbelievable”
“I know, she was on a mission to get away” he laughed placing the pig back down into the pen.
“Her mission fail- what?”
“I love you”
“I love you too”
“Gimme a kiss- wait…”
It had been two years since Conrad had joined Y/n at the farmhouse after retiring, in those two years Conrad had confessed his feelings for her, he understood that she probably needed some time since how her last relationship had ended so he was completely shocked when she jumped into his arms and kissed him. Through them two years they lived happily in complete ignorance of the world around them.
“What?” Following Conrad’s eyes looking up at the sky she frowned. “That’s one of SHIELD’s jets Con…”
“I know. Stay close to me okay”
“Obviously”
They watch in silence as the jet lowers on the field just at the back of their home, the door comes open and the ramp begins to descend. They share confused glances at seeing no one making an appearance, when someone finally stands in the doorway Y/n gasps.
It’s been four years to that day since she last saw him. Those four years weren’t kind to him honestly. His hair was longer and he was even sporting a beard. He looked bigger in muscle though his face was slimmer, his once bright blue eyes were now sunken and dull.
“H-how did he find us?” She whispered unable to move her eyes away from him.
Steve Rogers had found them.
And unfortunately was now making his way down the ramp.
Since Y/n had her eyes trained on his approaching figure she didn’t notice the rest of the Avengers making their exit from the jet. Even Loki and Bruce were there.
“You-you made out that you’ve been dead for four years and yet here you are shacking it up with the enemy” his voice was deeper than it use to be.
“How did you find her?” Conrad asked standing in front of her, not liking the way Steve’s eyes moved up and down her body.
“You let me believe that you was dead baby, for four years I’ve-“
“What are you doing here?” She cut him off.
“Fury. He’s not as sneaky as he thinks.”
“Why are you here Steven?”
“I want you back” Steve states as if it’s the most obvious thing in the world.
“Not happening. Leave all of you”
“Baby I made a mistake-“
“Don’t come any closer Rogers. I mean it” it’s now Conrad’s turn to interrupt him. Steve cocks his head to the side and laughs. But does as the other man says.
“He’s Hydra baby-“
“He was undercover for SHIELD. Please leave now”
“Is that what he told you?”
“It’s what Fury told me. Leave”
“Just come home okay, I can be better please baby I love you”
“I’m already home. Tony, Bucky please get him gone”
Bucky looks at her with an unreadable expression on his face “it’s nice to see you again Y/n/n. Come on Steve she’s happy here let-“
“No. No because she isn’t. She can’t just run away and pretend she’s dead-“
“You was cheating on me Steven. With my so called friend as well. I’m happy here, I don’t want you anymore”
“Natasha meant and still means nothing to me baby, it was a mistake, one that I want to make up for. Please just come home”
“I don’t care, I stopped caring about you and her a long time ago. I won’t ask-“
“Just come home!” Steve shouts cutting her off.
“She is home! Just leave and move on”
Standing there Steve shakes his head slowly before looking back up to Y/n. “D-do you really love him?”
“I do”
“Does he make you happy?”
“He does”
Nodding, defeat and acceptance written on his face. “I really am sorry for everything I did Y/n, I-I never wanted to hurt you, I’m sorry truly.”
Leaving Conrad’s side she walks closer to Steve, standing in front of the man who she loved so much, the man who broke her heart. “I forgive you Steve, I’m happy now. Conrad is a great person and he makes me happy”
“I’m glad. I-I’ll always love you Y/n. Goodbye” Steve says before walking backwards and turning around to walk up to the jet. Everyone all except Natasha nods or waves to Y/n before following their captain.
Watching the jet leave Conrad moves closer to her wrapping his arms around her waist, kissing her neck. “You alright my love?”
“I’m more then alright, come on I’m starving and let’s not forget I am eating for two”
Hand in hand with Conrad she walks into their farmhouse seeing the positive side to seeing Steve again, it felt like a weight had been lifted off her shoulders.
At first Steve cheating on her was the worst thing that ever happened to her, but now four years later she was finally happier than ever before with the man who loves her and their unborn baby.
Ex husband Steve Rogers whose help you need.
Okay so I love this, here’s what I’m thinking…
Things got tough after the divorce. You didn’t realize how little your pay check actually was until Steve was gone.
It started with just one payday loan to get you through. And then another, and then another. Until you somehow found yourself sitting in the back room of a laundromat with a large man offering to clear your debt.
You hadn’t been sure at first, but the thought of having to choose between the electric bill and food this week was not sitting well. All you had to do was make small payments once a week. Shouldn’t be that bad right?
Until they kept upping the amount. Before long they were asking for your entire paycheck as repayment.
You had nothing and no one to call for help, except Steve.
You could hear the smirk in his voice as he walked into your cramped and sparsely decorated apartment. “You know doll, you should have just let me take care of you from the start, maybe none of this would have happened.”
“Steve, man, you need to relax.”
Sam tapped on Steve’s shoulder, noticing how stiff his posture is in front of the mirror. After years of being Steve’s teammate and close friend, Sam already witnessed how fearless he is. But now, for the first time, he can actually see their former leader being tensed. Not because of another outer space purple alien or battle to face, but because he is going to meet someone special today.
“What if she’ll hates me?” Steve asked, looking back to Sam with worry written all over his face.
“Are we talking about Sandy or Y/N?”  Sam quipped. But the reaction on his friend’s face didn’t change at all. He crossed his arms, “Look, Steve. They won’t hate you. Sandy is the nicest kid I know. Bucky even calls her sunshine. She’s friendly and kind to everyone. She rarely showed any dislike for anyone or anything. I’m sure everything will go smoothly later.”
“How about–”
“Yeah, I know she ran away the moment she saw you.”  Sam rolled his eyes. “But can you blame her?”
Steve didn’t answer. He remembered that rainy night he saw you for the first time after coming back. He already anticipated anger from you since he was the one who asked for a break-up after their time-travel mission and battle with Thanos. But what was unexpected was the little girl, who was hiding behind your leg, that you referred to as your daughter before pausing in shock. Before he can even say anything more, you immediately left with the kid as you blink away the tears he noticed.
Alone, confused, and drenched in the rain. He stood there as your bus left. He didn’t understand everything that happened. Just like how Bruce explained to him a day ago that it had already been five years since he left. He was staying alone in Banner’s free apartment in the city ever since he came back and just a few hours after he saw you again, Sam and Bucky are both standing at his door, still in uniform.
And man, it was not a happy reunion. The duo was surprised to see him. Sam’s open mouth almost reached the floor while Bucky glared at him, jaw clenched. Sam did all the talking and explained that they just came from a mission when they heard that he is back. He willingly answered questions Steve had. Except for one.
“She was pregnant when you left.”
With his arms crossed over his chest, Bucky told him coldly. Silence took over the whole apartment after that. Steve had to process everything in his head while his two friends watched. The kid, the one who was with you. She’s mine. Mine. It repeated over and over again. The regret, questions, confusion, and surprise are all mixed in.
“Steve, I know that this is a lot. But we’ll help you.” Sam tried to assure him, even tagging the seemingly mad Bucky along, “Right, Bucky?”
His best friend answered with a single nod. They did help him. Steve moved out from Bruce’s to Bucky’s apartment unit since he had an extra room. Sam would join them every day because he was the only one who talks. He took over the couch. At the end of the week, he learned a lot of stories about your pregnancy and even Sandy. His heart already swells with stories about her and he started to yearn for meeting her. Also, he wants to talk to you ever since he came back.
Finally, exactly a week since that rainy night, Sam told Steve that you are open for him to meet Sandy.
“That’s her house. The blue one.” Sam pointed out as he drives closer to it.
Your house…is something familiar to Steve’s memory. It was a single-family home, not too far from the city. You have a beautiful front yard and he can notice the colorful chalk doodles on your cement walkway, obviously drawn by a little kid.
“You know, this house, she bought it herself as soon as she learned she was pregnant. We were surprised. But she said she’s been saving up for this.” Sam shared as they walked to the pathway.
Steve nodded quietly, he knows. You and Steve already planned on buying a home just like this before. Everything was already planned out. The kids, pets, every design and furniture to be put in the house. You two already imagined it before while cuddling together on the brown couch in your old apartment.
‘WeLCoME!’
A word is written before your front door with the last letter written in a mirrored way. He smiled, reading it. Sam clicked on the doorbell and Steve tried to stay calm, shifting his weight from one foot to another. He held on to the gift bags he brought. He thought of buying something for this day after he heard stories.
Suddenly, they heard hurried footsteps inside the house. It was followed by an excited voice, “Mama, they’re here! They are here!”
As if that’s not enough to soothe Steve, he heard a familiar, heartwarming chuckle, “I know, I know, love! Don’t open the door. Wait for mama!”
Sam looked back at Steve and gave him a soft pat on his arm. He exhaled and tried to smile. Hopefully, the butterflies in his stomach calm down. A few seconds later, the door slowly opened and all the butterflies started playing around again when he sees you standing there. You swiftly glanced from him to Sam and his heart never relaxed again. You were about to greet them when someone cuts you off.
“Mama, it’s Cap!”
His heart skips as he heard the excitement in your child’s voice behind you. Her baby blue eyes scream for joy as she ran in his direction with open arms. Expecting a warm embrace, Steve watched with the broadest smile. Until she passed by him like a chilly wind blow, he turned his head and saw Sandra hugging Sam, who chuckles as he lifted her in his arms.
“Uh-oh! Looks like you are growing up really fast, Sandra. I might not be able to carry you next time I go here.”
The little kid giggled, “That’s lilly. You’re Captain America! You can do anything!”
Steve tried to tear his eyes away, looking down at his feet. Of course, he will run to Sam. He is the Captain America for five years now. And you, who stood before them, watched as all of it happened. You quickly spotted Steve’s expression transitioning from Sarah running towards them, passing by him, and jumping to her favorite uncle. Steve meets your eyes and you can read the mixture of sadness and frustration in his eyes. You broke eye contact and cleared your throat,
“You guys should come inside. Sandy and I are going to do something.” you feigned excitement as you talk to your daughter.
“Baking! We’re baking ‘nick-uh-toodles!”  Sandra stutters adorably. She didn’t even give a pinch of attention to Steve, only talking to Sam.
“Is that so? Then, we should go inside!”
Sam carefully let down Sandra from his arms. She easily pulled his hand inside your house, leaving you and Steve alone. You looked at Steve with the plainest look he has ever seen from you. He swore that he prepared words to say to you but just by your stare, it was all gone. You pursed your lips.
“She meant snickerdoodles. We’re working with her s.” you clarified awkwardly.  “Come on in?”
“Yeah, sure..” he mumbled before stepping into your home.  He waited for you to close the door before handing you the bags. “Uh, I bought these. Sam said she loves them.”
“Oh, yeah… Thanks. But you should give it to her later, personally. I’ll introduce you to her.” you said carefully before walking ahead of him.
Steve followed behind you. He cannot help but travel his eyes around your house. A couple of picture frames were displayed on the wall. One has a colorful doodle that he assumes was Sandy’s masterpiece. Next to it is an image of an infant sleeping in a bassinet. And lastly, there was a seemingly recent snap of you and Sandy in matching pastel blue sundresses. Both are pretty and all smiley.
“Sandy, come here first,” you called her as you entered the kitchen with the former Captain America catching up behind you.
She was sitting on the kitchen island so she had to turn to Sam to help her, “Thank you, Cap.”
And Steve would be lying if he say that it didn’t cause another crack in his heart. Steve watched as you slowly got down to her level when she stood in front of you.
“Sandra, I want you to meet someone. Okay?” you began softly and Sandy replied with a curious nod. You signaled your head to Steve, asking him to come closer. He copied you and almost kneel to your daughter’s height. “Uh… This is Steve.”
You paused, breathing in and out. Sandy took that short time to repeat the name, “‘Teve?”
Steve cannot help but let out a small, low chuckle. Not because she had troubles with her s, but hearing his name from her soft, tiny voice is one of the most amazing things he has ever heard in life.
“Yeah, love. Steve.” you forced a smile but he knows with the shaking of your voice that you are just stopping yourself from tearing up. “He… He is your father.”
“Like a daddy? Like Bella’s?” Sandra quickly picked up, relating the term to her best friend.
“Yes, you’re right!” you tried to sound cheery but the rim of your eyes is starting to get glossy. To turn Sandy’s attention away from you, you looked at him, “Right, Steve?”
Sandy moved her big, hopeful eyes to him while you quickly wipe away any tears. And Steve doesn’t know who the hell Bella is but he nods, matching the gentle energy you put in your tone, “Yes, Sandy. I’m your dad.”
Maybe Steve expected more. Like maybe a strong embrace. Like the one earlier with Sam when they were at the front door. But Sandy, being the purest person in the room, slowly showed a smile while looking at him, “Wow.”
Steve doesn’t want to get it wrong since she genuinely sounds amazed and maybe surprised. Like when a dazed kid sees a rainbow in the sky. It was a long, slow but stunning wow. Her icy-blue eyes sparkled more. It was the most beautiful pair Steve has seen other than yours. The more he looked at her small, adorable face, the more he feels pride inside of him seeing a mix of you and him.
“And I brought you a gift.” Steve continued, showing her the gift bags he have.
She immediately accepted the bags. But first, she looked at you for permission. “Mama?”
“You can open it, love. It’s yours!” you smiled.
As soon as her eyes peeked inside one of the bags, she squealed. Her small feet are even tapping on the ground. Both you and Steve watched in adoration.
She beamed, “Duckie!”
Her hands held a plushie of a yellow, chubby duck with very tiny orange feet. Steve bought it after Sam and Bucky told him how much Sandy loves anything with that animal. She hugged it in her arms, “I love it!”
At last, she took steps toward Steve. She wrapped her short arms around his neck, squishing the stuffed toy in between, “Thank you, ‘Teve!”
“Your welcome, sweetheart.” he laughed and hugged her back.
It was warm and heart-melting. Steve sees you putting on a small, tight smile before getting up. He hoped you’ll join in for the hug. But it’s fine. He knows he still has a lot of things to do and learn. He also needs to talk to you. It will take time but he’s willing to offer all of his to you and Sandy. But for now, this is good.
As It Was
Chapter One
next chapter
Summary: "When your ex-husband shows up in the middle of the night, asking for your help, the right thing to do would be to leave him to fend for himself, wouldn't it?"
Our protagonist decides to embark on an adventure to clear her ex-husband's name as a scapegoat. Together with a small team, they will do whatever it takes to keep James Barnes away from prison and perhaps rekindle flames from the past."
Warnings: use of violence, future adult content and inappropriate language. Minors are advised not to read or engage with this story.
James Buchanan Barnes entered my life at an unexpected moment. We were at a party organized by my best friend Wanda. She and her girlfriend were celebrating their first home together, while I was celebrating a canceled date on top of another. My father, who was a military commander at the time, had arranged a meeting with his best friend's godson. This godson apparently was too busy for a tedious date with someone's daughter. I wasn't feeling very happy with myself when James approached to ask if I wanted some snacks. He was trying to be social since Sam had made a bet with him that involved someone buying beer for the other for a year. That night, James earned free beer for a year when he managed to hold a conversation with me for more than twenty minutes. It was easy to talk to someone who was just as uncomfortable as I was. I confess that the fact that James had a job similar to my father's made me insecure at the beginning of the relationship. But something about the way he stood out among the people at that barbecue made me want to know more about him. He seemed out of place even though he interacted with other people, in reality, he only interacted with Sam and Yelena throughout the night. There were people trying to approach him, striking up a conversation or touching his arm. He seemed so uncomfortable that I even wondered how someone who didn't seem to like crowds became friends with Sam Wilson. In fact, I was about to leave when James asked me if I wanted more hamburgers.
"Do you know that in Brazil, barbecue is not about hamburgers and sausages made on a grill but about meat?" I said, trying to be as random as possible to see if I could prolong our interaction. Ironically, Yelena challenged me to hold a conversation with any unknown person at the party for at least five minutes.
"Are you Brazilian or just a culturally curious person?" James asked, holding a tray with hamburgers. At that moment, I stopped to observe his face completely, his stubble and long hair gave him the aesthetic of a bad boy excluded from society. I thought to myself that if we were in high school, he would be the type of guy who would attract me.
"A little bit of both. My mother was Brazilian, and I simply got curious about what her life was like before I existed," I replied, grabbing one of the hamburgers from the tray. I moved away from James because I imagined he would offer hamburgers to other people, but he remained still.
"I've never been to Brazil, maybe one day I can have a real Brazilian barbecue and say which one is the tastiest."
"When I was little, my mom used to say it was one of the things she missed the most, so I believe you won't regret it." I remember James's smug smile when I distanced myself from him, thinking our conversation had ended. Honestly, in my defense, he seemed to want an excuse to get away from that barbecue.
"Do you usually leave people talking to themselves or do you just really not like me?" He spoke almost whispering close to my ear. His voice at that moment made my whole body shiver. Barnes typically used the power of his voice against me when he wanted to win an argument. It always worked.
"I thought after the cooking class you'd be eager to go home, maybe have a nice drink and do what a man like you does best on a Saturday night." I spoke shyly because, honestly, James Barnes had a gaze that would make anyone feel inappropriate for talking to him.
"Then come with me, accompany me while I do what a man does best on a Saturday night. I'm sure your company will only enhance any lurid thoughts that may be crossing your mind right now. Not to mention, you seem just as eager to stay here as I am." His words exuded confidence, and I stared at him, surprised by his sudden invitation.
"Do you have a habit of inviting any stranger to accompany you home, or am I the lucky one tonight?" I'm trying not to accept your invitation too quickly, perhaps it's my attempt to play hard to get or my inexperience with flirting.
"You're not a stranger. You're Wanda's best friend, who happens to be my best friend's girlfriend." He approaches as if he's analyzing me or trying to read my thoughts. I smile softly, thinking that Wanda must be watching this scene from afar, thinking that this will be the thousandth time she tries to set me up with someone and it might be the thousandth time I turn the guy down. I take a deep breath, counting to five mentally to make sure I respond to Barnes' invitation with confidence.
"You don't even know my name, yet you want my company tonight?" I say as we flirt with our eyes. It seems like we've entered into a mental competition to see who can flirt better.
"Naturally, for what I have in mind for the future of our minds, we'll have to exchange names, but that's just a minor detail. The most important thing is to know if I have your consent to turn this quiet night into one of the most memorable ones you've ever had." Officially, I'm in his hands for the night. There's no fighting it, even though I don't even know why I'm fighting against my instinct to go home with this handsome man with piercing blue eyes.
"My name is Melisa, and you have permission to show me how much potential you have to make this night memorable. But can you live up to the expectations you're creating?"
"I guess we'll have to find out together, Melisa." He took my hand, guiding me towards his motorcycle. I remember my shocked reaction when I saw that he rode a motorcycle. I remember how he spent countless minutes trying to convince me that motorcycles were safe when driven by a professional. I remember asking if he was a biker and receiving a hearty laugh in response.
I remember how he touched his long hair and brushed the strands that were near his eye to the back. That night was truly memorable, but not for the reasons we expected. It was the night I discovered who James Buchanan Barnes truly was. A man who takes you to his home and despite being eager for a make-out session to help out his drunk best friend who is too intoxicated to drive. A man who takes you home and convinces you that you won't be able to move on with your life until you find out if he's truly worth it. The man who takes three dates to take you to bed. The man who makes you want to marry him just a year and a half after you start dating because he feels like he can't live without you. But he's also the man who, when he's wrong, simply shuts himself off from the world until there's no other choice but to leave him there.
I could spend my whole life trying to explain James Barnes, but I would simply like to share what Barnes currently means to me.He is the ex-husband whom I swore never to let back into my house, and right now, I am staring at him. I'm staring at him while holding a baseball bat that I keep for "emergencies."
He is wet, wearing a soaked white shirt, most likely due to the heavy rain outside. His hair looks very different from the last time I saw him. It's short, while his beard seems to have been left unshaven for a while. He's breathing heavily, perhaps he ran here or is fleeing from something. The gaze that once left me speechless now made me question everything. I was ready to swing that bat at James' head when he whispered, "I know you've probably wanted to hit me with that bat since the divorce, but can we save this reckoning for when I'm not running away?"
"Running away from whom, Barnes?" I assure you that my facial expression must be as cold as the tone of voice I'm using. But after the divorce, all I was left with was anger towards the man I used to call my husband.
"There's still that secret passage you called stupid when I suggested it, but later said it would be a good hiding spot in case one of us got arrested." He seems to ignore my question or my utterly confused expression. I nod silently, pointing towards the end of the hallway in our house. Well, now it's my house, but it used to be ours.
Instead of moving forward and entering that secret passage which, yes, if you've seen any action movie, you know it's usually hidden behind a mirror or a bookshelf, Barnes approaches me with a look of "I forgot to tell you" that he used to give me before delivering bad news.
"The police will be here in about five minutes, and I need you to act as if you haven't seen me in years. Be the daughter your father raised and the clever woman I fell in love with, and make sure they leave without suspecting anything. That's the most I can tell you in such a short time, and I need you to trust me just one more time."
James was so quick that before I could even respond, he had already disappeared into the secret room of the house. I could only curse myself internally for keeping that place a secret, even though it had been years since my divorce. At that moment, memories of the day I introduced James to my father flooded back. My father, who had gone to great lengths to set me up with his friend's godson, was not at all pleased to learn that his beloved daughter was dating a man who worked as a government agent.My father actually didn't like James. He would say that something about Barnes made him believe that one day I would be interrogated by the police to talk about James. My thoughts were interrupted by knocks on the door, followed by a police officer asking me to open the door. It was only at that moment that I realized I wasn't properly dressed to receive anyone at home. The truth is, I was getting ready for a date when I heard a noise on the first floor of the house. So, I'm just wearing my underwear and a robe that doesn't fully cover my body. But that doesn't stop me from opening the door right after hearing the police officer call my name.
"Good evening, officers. How can I assist you?" I say, trying to hide the lower part of my body behind the door. I wish I had had time to put on more decent clothing. The police officers are clearly scrutinizing my behavior, attempting to find any trace of James through the small opening of the door.
"Is your husband James Buchanan Barnes, miss?" The older, graying police officer speaks in an authoritative tone.
"He used to be, sir. Is something wrong with him?" I try to appear as surprised and innocent as possible. I know that many law enforcement officers tend to believe people who seem somewhat innocent.
"I'm sorry to inform you, but your husband is wanted for suspicion of being involved with an international smuggler named Killian. We believe Mr. Barnes may have provided unauthorized access to national security information." Now I'm truly shocked, perhaps nervous enough for the officers to notice a slight twitch in my left eye. My hands start to sweat as I think about the slightest chance of them knowing that James is here.
"And you believe he would come to his ex-wife's house in the middle of the night, after years, to hide from the police or whoever else is after him?" Years ago, my father taught me that the key to telling a good lie is to make the truth sound absurd. I am practicing one of his many teachings with those whom he would hate to know I'm trying to deceive. You see, my father worked for years to keep this country free from criminality and to apprehend those who threaten it in any way.
"We believe he might reach out to you or this residence seeking comfort or assistance, in which case we advise you to contact us immediately. Otherwise, it will be assumed that you are an accomplice." The other police officer spoke, trying to intimidate me. It didn't work.
"Well... in that case, as soon as I see my ex-husband, you'll be the first to know. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to get ready for a date. You know, I'm trying to move on after the divorce."
I give them a completely nonchalant smile. They seem to have believed that I don't know anything about James, but they don't seem to have understood that I'm no longer his wife. I can't blame them; at this moment, even I am unsure if we really are no longer married.
"We hope we haven't disturbed your evening. Here's a number for you to call if you see your husband. Please do not hesitate to call if you have any information about him." The older police officer speaks, handing me a card with a number. I nod, confirming that I will assist them, and watch as they make their way back to the patrol car.
For a moment, I breathe a sigh of relief, but then I remember that my ex-husband is still hiding here. I know I can't keep him here for long, so I decide to start planning what to do next. I have a plan that might work to get James out of here before the police come back with a warrant. I can't help but think that whatever I do, it has to be quick because I do have a date, and if I'm absent, I know my father will become suspicious. Before going to talk to James, I went upstairs and put on the dress that was laying on the bed. Fortunately, I was almost ready, which would help me not to be too late for the date. As I put on my shoes, I send a message to the man I'm going out with, letting him know that I'll be running late. I also send a message to Sam, using a coded message that only he can understand. In reality, I simply sent a message saying that he had forgotten his favorite cleats here and that it would be good for him to come and get them for the weekend game. He would know that I needed him urgently because we agreed to send messages like this in case we needed help. I think he understood, as he replied that since the game was very important, he would come to pick up the cleats as soon as possible. Sam has been James' best friend for as long as I've known him. I'm sure Sam will want to be involved in helping out.
I finish getting ready for the date and head downstairs to find the secret passage where James is hiding. I stomp my feet on the ground twice with force to secretly signal that I'm alone. Barnes created several secret codes to ensure I was prepared for any situation during our marriage. For a moment, I feel strange for still remembering those things.
"You took all this time to get ready knowing that I was here waiting for you?" James's tone of voice indicates that he's not very happy with me. His gaze reflects a minimal level of patience, something I witnessed only a few times during our marriage. Unfortunately, the damn man is irresistibly more attractive when he's angry.
"It's funny how you're the one indignant when I'm the one being interrogated by the police right after my ex-husband breaks into my house. And I'm dressed up because I have a date that I can't cancel, as my father would quickly find out, and you, James Barnes, certainly wouldn't want my father suspecting why I missed this date." I know I'll seem like a submissive daughter to my father, but he has been trying to set me up with Steve Rogers, an FBI prodigy who is his best friend's godson, for a year now. He would connect the dots as soon as he found out about James. He approaches me with a deeply concerned look, and I feel like I could get lost in the scent of his perfume. It's not overpowering, but it's distinctive, and it's incredible that he still smells so good after all these years.
"Speaking of your father, you can't tell him anything about this. I... I found out just minutes before being framed that he is the true partner of Killian." Before I can even muster a reaction, I hear the sound of someone knocking on the door and look at James, who has a facial expression that makes me think he's contemplating ways to escape.
"Don't even think about it, Barnes. I'll handle whoever is here, and you'll wait for me while we figure out a way to keep you from getting arrested or killed." Few moments in my relationship with James were about us disagreeing with each other because we knew that two stubborn people rarely reach a consensus. He seems to understand what I'm saying, but I don't trust that he will obey me.
Frat-bro Friday!
Steve and reader are best friends, she has feelings for Steve but he's unaware and falls for the "new girl" Natasha. He stills values reader in his life but she decides not to come b/w Steve and Nat and leave them. Steve’s and Nat was suppose to be just summer romance, but when reader left, Steve wasn't really himself, Nat feels it, realises he's in love with reader but found out she was pregnant with Steve's baby. They maintain a nice relationship, Steve confides in Nat that he's in love with reader. Baby born, they go their separate ways, still co parenting. 8 years later, when Steve’s daughter was in summer camp he found reader again. From there starts his winning her back.
I'm sorry this is so long. And I couldn't think of more...
There were moments that were forever engrained in your mind that you would look back on through thin perceptions, wishing and hoping with everything you had that you could go back and change how things had played out. The memories that haunted you were phantoms that crept in the corners of your mind, the moments that mocked you were all rooted in one specific time period during university.
He was your best friend, he was an athlete with charm and charisma to sweep anyone off their feet with a single bat of his eyes. Steve Rogers was an all-American kind of boy who was outgoing enough to land him in a goof fraternity yet not so cocky and arrogant to be off putting.
He had the world at his fingertips, he had everything and anything he could have wanted. Your friendship was good, it was strong and unwavering, it was the kind of friendship that could have naturally bled into a relationship, though the odds always seemed to be stacked against you.
First, it was a drunken confession that he had met someone who was beautiful and breathtaking, a student of Russia studies that was the daughter of some diplomat. That confession happened when Steve was in your bed after a night of partying, hanging around you to stave off the possibility of falling into a ditch. the confession had cut through you, it had ripped parts of your heart into thin confetti that turned to ash, it was too late for you and you were left with the decision to either confess and ruin his budding relationship or swallow your feelings.
After the confession, had come the buildup of their relationship, and all the positivity around the ipso-facto it couple. Steve and Natasha were perfect for each other, they had been connected by apparent deeply seeded bonds that caused further damage to your emotionally fragile heart.
“I think i love her.” Steve hd confessed before he and Natasha had went on a trip together, one of the student organized trips to the mountains before the end of the second term. “I wish you were coming with us, we’d have so much fun together.”
Steve didn’t know that you were leaving, he hadn’t anticipated your departure from the school and your transfer to the west coast. You were leaving, you had gotten an internship at a charitable organization you’d been vying for. You couldn’t tell Steve, you couldn’t have dared tell him before his trip.
Maybe it was the coward’s way out, maybe you were taking it easy but you were done being hurt.
He tried calling you when he got back and you were gone, he tried reaching out to you on social media, begging to talk or find you because he needed you, anything at all. One of your friends had told you that he went to your dorm looking for you, that something had happened on the trip that stunned both Natasha and Steve.
Part of you wanted to give in, part of you wanted to call him back and reach out to hear it. But there was a bigger part of you that knew you needed to protect yourself, the part of you that was self preserving.
You didn’t reach out, you didn’t want to hear about his perfect romance with Natasha. You couldn’t have even if you wanted to, even if you had shut down every part of your brain that screamed at you to let yourself heal, you couldn’t have willed yourself to give in.
You lost Steve, he would always be your one regret. And if you could have turned back time, you would have been bolder and more open with your feelings.
** **
The first sound of screaming and squealing had radiated throughout the camp, the first day was upon the staff and counsellors. You were still in the office looking over the plans for the rest of the first day after campers had checked in, only looking up when the bus dropping off nearly all the campers had begun to pull away.
It wouldnt have been any significant event to steal and hold your attention however beyond the view of the bus was a man helping with his daughters bags. It was the sight of the man that you would have recognized anywhere, even after all the years had passed.
It was as if you were in a daze, you were already headed down the steps with the list of events in your hands. You’d pushed open the door and skipped down the steps in a loud barraging trounce that had stolen both Steve and his daughters attention.
“Hey campers! Who’s ready to check in?” One of the counsellors bounded toward Steve and his daughter, addressing them as well as the campers behind the two.
“Y/N,” he spoke your name like it was a secret that weighed on his tongue, “is that you?”
You gripped the clipboard tightly in your hand and swallowed your words as they built on your tongue. There was so much you would have wished to say, so much you could have said and yet in a moment it had all vanished.
“Natasha, is she here too?” You were aware of his daughter looking between the two of you with a kind of coy smile on her face.
“Natasha…no. She, or rather we-“
“Hi sweetheart,” the counsellor crouched before her with a special lanyard ready for her with her name on it, “if you come with me, we’ll get you set up in your bunk while your daddy signs a form.”
“I’ll see you in a week.” Steve had bent and hugged her tightly, kissing into her hair before he glanced your way. “You’ll be good?”
“I promise, daddy.” She grinned and pulled away, following the counsellor down a path to a set of cabins near the back of the clearing.
When it was Steve and you alone, Steve had cleared his throat and opened his mouth to speak before snapping it shut again. He had furrowed his brows and pursed his lips, neither one of you being able to say much.
“Forms,” another counsellor passed you, mumbling under his breath, “get him to sign the forms.”
You lift the clipboard to your vision, spying what needed to be signed and then lowered it once more. You set your sights back on Steve, another half beat of silence before you nodded your head.
“If you wanna follow me into the office…” you turned and walked back up the steps, knowing that he was following you.
You opened the door and let him pass, following him while a flurry of unkempt emotions rose from deep within you. All kinds of unrestricted thoughts that you’d long since buried had risen to the surface until you were left staring at Steve while signed the forms you’d held out for him.
“Natasha and I aren’t together.” Steve dropped the pen with a plop before he ran his hand over his chin. “We didn’t…we co-parent but we’re not-“
“Y/N,” the door opened, one of your team leads poking her head in, “we’re ready for our fearless director.”
“Director?” Steve spoke with admiration. “Really?”
“Really.” You smiled small and drew your eyebrows together.
“I have to go but its been nice-“ “I was wondering if-“
You spoke at the same time, speaking over one another.
“It was nice seeing you again Steve. I have to go.” You stepped around him and headed for the door, one hand on the frame and the other on the handle.
You wait a moment before you stepped outside, leaving Steve alone in the office while a copy of the form was being made for him.
Y/N: Hey, Thor, I’m going to need your help getting through this.
Loki: You’re not going to need my help?
Y/N: Well, no. When I get to the point where I’m ready to hear cruel, mocking jokes about Steve, I’m gonna come to you.
Loki: Okay, because I’ve already thought of three. Four! I just thought of a fourth!
Y/n: Besides, no one's getting hurt!
*A guy who Y/n previously knocked out falls from the bridge she, Steve, and Bucky are standing on and lands on a car.*
Y/n: ...That guy was already up there when I got here
Steve: Y/n, you could be an Avenger! Use your powers for good!
Y/n: But I am using my powers for good
Bucky: What Steve meant was you are a kid, judging on your voice, and we can give you a home. Plus, HYDRA is trying to find you and won't stop
Y/n: I was HYDRA's death squad. I have powers that can destroy people like that. *snaps her fingers*. Besides, I am a dangerous person who doesn't deserve to have a home. I can handle HYDRA myself. *flies off*
Steve: *sighs* She is stubborn
Bucky: Like you
Steve: Hey! That's true
Bucky: Do you think she knows that she was created using you and I's DNA?
Steve: Probably, she has her file. The question is, did she decline our offer or not?
Bucky: She thinks of herself as a monster, so she is going to make it so we don't want her when we do. Pushing people away is not coping with your past. We can help her, we just need to help at her own pace, as well as get her the help she deserves.
Steve: Right. No kid deserves to be alone. Assassin, or not.
Bucky: Now we have to find her again
“St-Steve…I need your help in he-“
“I can’t help, Cami…” Steve said quickly as he grabbed his go-bag, “Peggy just called and said that she-“
“Peggy!” Cami growled, stomping into the main hall where Steve was already halfway to the door, “What does Peggy really need from you Steve?  I need help with the girls.  They-“
“Cami…Peggy needs help getting acclimated!” he growled back in response, “you can handle the girls.  They are fine!  You are fine! Peggy is having a hard time!”
“So you’re leaving me?” she asked angrily, “taking your go bag and disappearing until Peggy is fine?”
“Cami-“
“You know, I think it’s pretty wild that all of a sudden she’s known for having these mind-blowing panic attacks where you have to be there for her at all times of the day,” Cami groaned, “I thought you said she was a decorated soldier for the Brits.  Hmm?  Thought she was capable of fitting in anywhere and always adapting!”
“Cami, adapting in wartime in the 40’s is way different than jumping forward over a hundred years!”
“So, you’re just going to leave, then?”
Steve’s jaw twitched for a moment before he dropped his go bag at the coat rack by the entryway.
“What would you have me do, Cami?”
Cami’s angry attitude immediately faded, and she stepped towards her husband.  Steve stood stock-still and watched her walk up to him and immediately wrap her arms around his middle.  Steve watched her for a moment before reacting.  He could feel the sadness around him like a humid day.
“I miss my husband,” she all but whimpered against him.  Steve sighed as he felt her heart beating against his chest, “I need you Steve…me and the girls…we-we need you here with us…at least some of the time.”
And his heart ached as she looked up at him, her eyes tearfully looking into his own.  Gently, he reached down and stroked away her tears with his thumbs, before pressing his lips softly to hers.
They worked slowly with one another, calculating the other’s next move, while working perfectly in sync.
“I love you, bunny.”
“I love you, Steve…”
He sighed as he leaned his forehead against hers.  His eyes fluttered open, and he saw the pain in her own eyes.  He dropped his go bag beside him and wrapped his arms low on her waist, “how about you go make some lunch for the girls, and I’ll get them set up?  Then after we get them down for a nap, we spend a little mommy daddy time together, where I show you exactly how much you mean to me, and why you and the girls will always come first.”
“I-I like the sound of that,” she admitted softly with a nod.  Steve smiled and pressed another gentle kiss to her lips before patting her ass and letting her out of reach, “I-I’ll go make lunch…”
“Okay, bunny.  I’ll go get the girls in line.”
Steve sighed softly to himself as he wrapped his arm around his wife.  Cami moaned softly from his chest, while her core fluttered around his cock.  Steve’s eyes closed as he focused on her breathing and how he heard her heart thrashing in her chest.
“You know…days like this…I live for it…” he admitted softly as he looked down at his docile wife.  She gave him a loving look, and he brushed the hair off her face, “I love it.”
“You live for this?”
“Not the arguing…but this,” he answered, gesturing to how they were currently, “us…together…me deep inside of you, stretching that pretty little-“
“Steve…” Cami giggled with a smile.  Steve’s smile got wider as he lifted the hand from his chest and kissed her palm.
“Are you sure I can’t coax you into having another little super soldier toddling around?”
Cami giggled as she patted her husband’s pec, “maybe a boy this time?”
“I mean…if we’re going for it…I see no harm in the extra practice,” Steve teased playfully, “you know…but that would mean I would have to take off this condom you made me put on.”
“Steve…”
“I know, I know,” he sighed, rubbing Cami’s back, “you want to wait at least another year, so we don’t have three kids in diapers.”
“And I love you so much for agreeing with me.  I can barely keep up with the twins.”
“If we don’t have another set of twins…I get to try right after that third one’s out of the oven.”
“Hmmm,” she hummed softly as she placed a series of kisses along his chest, “I swear.  You truly are insatiable, Mr. Rogers.”
“Oh, only for you, Mrs. Rogers!”
“Is that so?”
“Oh, you know it,” he smiled.  Cami leaned up and pressed a kiss to his lips, before sitting up, “where do you think you’re going, hmm?”
“The girls should be up from their naps soon,” she said quickly, “thinking maybe we grab a shower together before that?  Get some more…practice in?”
“Nothing sounds better than that, bunny!” Steve purred.
He reached forward and playfully slapped his wife’s ass as she got up and ran towards the bathroom.  Meanwhile as he sat up, he noticed his phone had a number of alerts on it.
He frowned when he saw who they were from.
With a much heavier sigh, he bit his bottom lip and looked between the bathroom and his phone.
‘You were supposed to be here.’
‘Where are you, Steve?’
‘I need to feel you right now.’
His stomach felt like it was in knots as he stood from the bed and started towards the dresser.  Throwing on a pair of briefs and sweatpants, he pocketed his phone, before throwing on a beater.  Cami came back into the bedroom as he was putting on his boots.
“W-what’s wrong?” she asked quickly, “Steve, where are you going?”
“Emergency,” he lied, as he stood from his spot.  He gave her a firm kiss before turning towards the door, “I have to go, now.  It’s an urgent mission, Cami!”
“Is everything okay?  Why do you have to-“
“Cami…I don’t have time to talk!” he said quickly as he pushed himself from the bedroom and towards the entrance, “tell the girls I love them!’
“Wait, Ste-“
“Bye Cameron!”
Tumblr media
“Where is my wife?”
“Steve…so pleasant to see you too!”
“God damn it, Melissa, where the hell is my wife?” Steve spat, “I know that she’s here!  Her and the girls.  They have to be!”
“You’ve got some fucking nerve showing up at my house, punk!”
“James…”
Bucky’s jaw twitched as he glared at his best friend over Mel’s shoulder.  She turned back towards Bucky and put a hand on his chest, “we told Cami that we wouldn’t intervene…James…we promi-”
“Then fucking get out of my way,” Steve growled, ready to push his way into the house, “I want to talk to Cameron!”
“I didn’t say that I was going to let you barge into my house, Steven Grant Rogers!” Mel spat, quickly turning around to poke the super soldier in the chest.  Steve, taken back by her attitude change with him took a step back, and she used that to her advantage, “you’ve taken advantage of my daughter for far too long, Steve.  James and I promised that we wouldn’t become even more involved than when James beat the shit out of you, but I will not let you into my house.”
Steve’s jaw twitched.  His nostrils flared as he looked down at the much smaller woman, “you think you scare me, Missy?  Think I’m afraid of some slutty, aging whore?”
“I think you’re the limp dick asshole of a son-in-law who just cheated on my daughter,” Mel growled, “and super soldier or not, you better back the fuck up, because I have no problem with going to jail over finding some way to cause serious bodily harm to you, Steve!”
Steve sneered at Mel, before taking a step back, “you don’t know what you’re getting involved in, Mel.  You’re sticking your nose into a business where it has no place in!  AS ALWAYS!”
“She’s my daughter, you prick!” Mel spat, “so I suggest you get off of my fucking property.  Because so help me god, if you wake up my newborn, I won’t stop James from kicking your ass yet again.”
“You’re fucking kidding me,” Steve growled as he looked at Andy, “she wouldn’t fucking do that to me.  I’m the father of the girls.  She ca-“
“Steve, I’m just telling you what she’s had drafted,” Andy said with a frown, “I’m not saying that you have to sign them.”
“Damn right I’m not going to sign them,” Steve hissed as he glared at the papers sitting in front of him, “she wants full custody of Jamie and Stephanie…she-“
“If I’m being honest, it’s not a bad deal,” Andy shrugged as he cut his friend off, “she doesn’t want spousal or child support.  She’s willing to let you have full access to the kids by remaining in the tower.  She just wants entire custody of them.  And with you still actively going on miss-“
“I don’t give a damn about my bitch of a soon to be ex-wife wants, Andy…it’s about the principle.  She can’t demand custody of the girls.  We’re getting a divorce, but what I want is important too! What if I wanted full custody?”
“Steve, I’m going to level with you,” Andy muttered, “within the family courts, the judge usually sides with the mother.”
“Yeah…well the father isn’t usually Captain America, now is he?”
“Most men demanding full custody and no support don’t usually cheat on their wives either,” Andy corrected with a frown, “and don’t even say that she can’t prove it.  We all know that Peggy is already pregnant.  That in itself is proof enough.  No judge would look at you and agree, no matter how much you’ve done for the country!”
“Andy…you don’t get it…”
“No, Steve…I don’t…because if my spouse ever cheated on me…I’d be doing much more than just asking for full custody!” Andy replied swiftly, “I mean, seriously, Steve.  What the actual hell were you thinking with Peggy?  She’s a fantasy…an illusion.  You and Cami-“
“I don’t want to talk about this with you,” Steve muttered, shaking his head at his friend, “thanks for explaining this…but I’m not going to sign.  And you can let Cami know that.”
“Alright, Steve…just remember.  Divorce and family hearings are never pretty.  And once word gets around that it was you that broke up the marriage…it’s less likely that you’ll get everything you want out of it.”
“Don’t make me find a new lawyer, Barber.”
“Maybe you should, Rogers!”
You’re not ashamed to admit that you sleep around. College is all about new experiences, and that comes with mistakes. It’s fair to say that you have made enough mistakes to last a lifetime. Although, you wouldn’t say your sexuality stems from immaturity. You want to feel good, and sometimes that means sleeping with some hot guy from your psych class. As long as people aren’t being dickheads, you don’t give a damn about what they do. Others don't seem to have the same mindset though.
You suppose men don’t really understand you, they treat you like you’re so different. But you think it’s the exact opposite, you’re so much like them that it pisses them off that you would dare stray from their ideal portrayal of femininity. I mean, it’s so terrible that you have an active sex life, that you can enjoy a relationship that’s strictly sex. I guess you’re just weird, right? Wait, but what about a guy who has fucked 60% of the female population on campus? That’s completely acceptable? You could sit here and whine about the double standard for hours, but that’s just a waste of time. Y’know, it’s sad, but you just had to accept that socially speaking, you’re a pathetic slut, and guys like Bucky Barnes are gods among men. During sophomore year you realized if a whore is all they see, you should just stop holding back and be the biggest whore they’ve ever met. And you haven’t gone back on that.
Back to James “Bucky” Barnes. Hot, muscular, playboy, quarterback, and your douchebag ex boyfriend. Though, you use the term boyfriend loosely because the relationship was more complex than that. Well, in the way that you were hopelessly in love with him and he liked that he was the first one to touch you. The story has been told a million times before. Guy takes an interest in the innocent girl who has a crush, but soon he fucks it up. And it always ends in one of two ways, either the guy realizes he’s in love and gets the girl back with a huge romantic gesture, or she ends up with someone else who treats her like a princess. But your life is not a fairytale. It’s not a rom com. The idea of love seems so foreign, plus, you know you’ll just end up getting hurt if a hook-up gets more intimate. Almost all romantic relationships end and you were so numbed by the pain from Bucky that every aspect of love seems fabricated. Someone came up with this idea and everyone went along with it, tricking themselves into caring about shitty abusers and pathetic cheaters. Love blinds you with its pretty face, the lifelong happiness it offers is the biggest empty promise. Love is for fools who think they have some soulmate that they’ll see one day and know, deep down, that they are meant to be together. Even thinking about the people who say that makes you cringe. In the end, people see what they want to see, that is until the reality of the situation hits like a freight train.
