listen its not that tamlin locking feyre in a manor is ‘not a big deal’. its that sjm parallels tamlin and rhysand way too much for rhysand to be a viable, healthy option for feyre.
rhys put a whole city under a lockdown so severe people forgot about its existence (and from what the wiki says, the city was kept hidden for centuries even before, for the safety of its citizens) but tamlin locking feyre in a manor, so she wouldn’t follow him into an unsafe situation was crossing a line?

I like to imagine faerie magic that’s used on humans has similar vibes to the myth of the lotus eaters if that makes any sense. Just a divine sense of sweetness and peace that makes you forget any worries you’ve ever had. In fact, it makes you forget a lot of things. Why go through the trouble of thinking when you don’t need to? You’re at peace now, after all.
This would probably be specifically after giving a faerie your name, not before. They can only really start to affect people based on how much power they hold over them, after all. And if they want to put your mind at rest, there’s no better way to do it. You feel taken care of, safe, and blissful.

Faerie AU :D
*Tim outside the manor with folder of blackmail*
Alfred: “Hello young man do you need something?” *pauses and squints his eyes* “You again.”
Fae!Tim: *giant grin* “Me! Been awhile hasn’t it?”
Fae!Alfred: “132 years as I recall, you don’t usually present so young… Why are you here?” *cautious suspicion*
Fae!Tim: *sigh* “Usually I’m not trying to tell a suicidal father that just lost his son to stop hitting petty criminals too hard and to get therapy. I figured appearing younger would guilt him into listening to me” *shrugs*
Fae!Alfred: *more suspicion* “And when did you start caring about humans?”
Fae!Tim: *another shrug* “Frustration mostly, I have to deal with half dead people on the street”
Fae!Alfred: “Why are you of all creatures healing the injured? Last I recall you were off just running around and causing havoc, you have not been known to have a change of heart in the past”
Fae!Tim: *pouts* “Oh you wound me Alfred, that is the name you’re going by these days correct?
Fae!Alfred: *eyebrow raise* “Correct”
Fae!Tim: “Back to your question, it’s mostly that death has a lot on her plate at the moment, no need to give her more” *waves hand* “She’s dealing with? Jason I think his name was? Waking up in his grave unexpectedly, one of the Al Ghuls took him in. I’m sure he’ll come back in a couple years for revenge, you know I would usually just kill a troublesome human but if Jason comes back to that it’ll cause even more problems for me”
Fae!Alfred: “…Master Jason is back from the dead?”
Fae!Tim: “That is indeed what I said”
Fae!Alfred: *sigh* “You are going to attempt to convince Master Bruce to get therapy because it will cause more issues for you in the future if you kill him?”
Fae!Tim: *grin* “Mhm! and you’re gonna help me!”
Fae!Alfred: “Oh dear gods”

WIP Saturday
Hi folks! I’m trying something new: I plan to share snippets or scenes from my current WIP every Saturday from now on! For the next few weeks/months they’ll be from my Stitch series while I work on the next part. Enjoy!
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ .
“Good. I…” Hyrule trailed off, eyes darting behind Warriors. A smirk lifted his lips.
“What? What are you—” Something slammed into his back, and Warriors let out an oomph as he was shoved forward. His tea—thankfully less than half full—was knocked over, contents spilling all over Legend’s polished oak dining table.
Arms wrapped around his neck, fingers locking together. “Morning!”
Warriors grinned despite the lost tea, a plan forming in his head. “Good morning, my friend. I see you’re feeling peppy today.”
“Mhmm!” Wind agreed, loud in Warriors’ ear. He lowered his voice. “Thanks to—hey!” Warriors latched onto Wind’s arms, locking him in place. Then, he stood, dragging Wind up with him and forcing him to latch on with his legs around Warriors’ waist.
“Guess I’ll have to clean this tea up,” Warriors announced, shooting Hyrule a smirk before turning on his heel and swinging Wind around behind him.
Wind laughed, bright and bubbly and golden to Warriors’ ears, holding on tighter. “Let me go!”
“Hmm, I should take this mug to the sink first, shouldn’t I?” And he spun around again, releasing one of Wind’s arms to grab the mug. Hyrule had a hand over his mouth as he snickered, eyes alight with mirth. Warriors winked at him, then turned again, mug and Sailor in tow.
“Warriors!” Wind’s shout might’ve woken the rest of their companions. Warriors would suffer the consequences any day, for his young friend to be so cheerful again.
Warriors let go of Wind’s arms to wash up his mug, but Wind held on, leaning his head over Warriors’ shoulder to watch. Warriors didn’t mind, when Wind was so scrawny and weighed nothing to him. When he was done, he latched on to Wind again and began to spin, unable to hold back his laughing when Wind shrieked with delight—and yep, the others were definitely awake, now.
Wind was still huffing and laughing when Warriors stopped. Clung a little tighter. “Thanks, Wars,” Wind murmured, leaning over Warriors’ shoulder again.
Warriors nudged him gently with his head. “Anytime, beansprout.”
Wind squawked in complaint. “What does that even mean?”

Could you try and do one for the Maleficent AU where Maleficent herself shows up somehow. Maybe Gilgamesh is like hello there beautiful and Thena gets all jealous and protective and then they have a fluffy comfort at the end.
Stunning.
She was elder than Thena, not that one could tell a fae's age based upon appearance. But something about her...she was a faerie of old magic. Black horns coiled from her head, her wings were black in some light and brown in some. They were huge, long and silken, practically dragging on the ground behind her.
Her lips were red like a fresh pomegranate.
"Thank you for escorting me, captain," she thanked in a silken voice. She smiled, the colour of her lips making it clear when they tugged upward gently.
Gilgamesh blushed.
Thena pursed her lips to herself, observing from a respectful distance.
The fae was from the Moors, word had it. She belonged to another mothernest entirely, one more inland and to the north. She had a great control of magic that most fae didn't even possess anymore, much less know or teach. But her relationship with the humans was good, and thus she was acting as an ambassador of sorts.
"I will bring word back to the queen and to my own flock. I'm sure the mothernest will welcome any of yours who would like to see our ways."
"I'm sure some of us will take you up on your offer."
Thena tilted her head, trying to get a look at Gil's face as he said it, but his back was facing her. She didn't like how eager he sounded.
"You have done good work to associate with the humans here, it is admirable," she congratulated him, her eyes still catlike and intimidating.
A bird - a crow, or perhaps a raven - cawed on the head of her staff.
Thena tried to at least get a good look at the fae's familiar, but its head tilted too often.
"It hasn't been easy at all turns," Gil admitted freely. "But I think we're making real strides. Some of us here have good history with humans, so we're trying more, I guess."
Thena smiled; he was mentioning her, in not so many words.
"I value a fae who can see past a human's nature," the woman said with a hint of a laugh in her voice. "I have a...complicated history with them, myself."
Gil laughed. "I gotta admit, I wasn't all that fond of 'em. But I guess they're growing on me."
Thanks to her, Thena mused as she waited and waited and Gilgamesh to conclude his conversation. He usually wasn't one for idle chatter with his charges.
"They have 'grown on me' as well."
The fae had an interesting speech pattern, like she wasn't used to conversing with her own--or conversing in general, perhaps.
"You are welcome in the Moors as well, of course."
Thena's wings bristled, her feathers raising in their follicles. Just what kind of invitation was that? An invitation to the mothernest was one thing, but was this fae proposing Gilgamesh come and take a tour of her home?!
The bird cawed again (definitely a raven).
The woman's hand stroked its feathered head, and Thena saw that she even had long claws on the end of graceful fingers. Perhaps it was a trait of northern forest fae. They had trees to scale to make their nests.
Thena pursed her lips, raising her wings into proper posture as she decided that she had waited enough. "Excuse my intrusion."
"Thena?" Gil said aloud, surprised by her interruption.
"Of course," the female observed her with those same predatory eyes.
Thena did her best to keep her wings still behind her as she stopped behind Gil's shoulder. "I was rather fond of the humans who inhabited the Isles a number of decades ago. I understand you have a good rapport with the human kingdom close to your mothernest in the north."
She tilted her head, her bird mirroring the action. "Indeed, the queen of the coastal kingdom and I are quite close."
She said it like there was more to it than that. Thena tilted her head in return, "Gilgamesh does well with the humans. They're fond of him."
She smiled, "I'm sure they are."
Thena's feathers raised again, although she did her best not to seem too ruffled by the technically innocuous statement.
"Thena's the one who's built the best relationship with them," Gil shifted, even putting his hand on her shoulder. "It's thanks to her that we've made any progress."
Thena tried to look at Gil in thanks for his praise, but she had far too much trouble taking her eyes off the woman facing them. She seemed amused; was what Gil said humorous?
"Thank you for your hospitality," she smiled at Gilgamesh again. Then, she turned to Thena, "I hope we will cross paths again. You should meet the humans of Ulstead."
Thena nodded, not entirely sure what to make of the exchange.
"Until then," she nodded, her ruby lips upturning again. Her wings outstretched, and her familiar took to the sky ahead of her, "guard, Thena."
Thena and Gil nodded to the woman as she launched herself into the sky. Her wings were truly strong, letting her climb at an incredible rate. Beautiful too.
"She was nice."
Thena glanced over at him, with his hands on his hips and a dumb grin on his face. She sighed, letting her fangs breathe.
"I figured you'd like her."
Well, since he seemed to like her so much. "Hm."
"You should see the Moors, I bet you'd like them, based on how she described them."
"Would I?" Thena asked him, irked that he was suggesting so openly that she go visit this...stranger. "She told you about them at length, did she?"
"Well sure, she asked about the mothernest here, what the forests are like," he shrugged as they started walking back in the direction of the cliffs. "The Moors sound interesting--magical, she said."
"Did she?"
That came out a little too sharp. Thena felt it as soon as it was off her tongue, and obviously Gilgamesh received its sharpness. She avoided his eyes as he looked at her. "You okay?"
"Of course," she muttered down at the sandals on her feet. "I'm glad you enjoyed your time with her."
That came out even sharper, somehow. Gil tilted his head but Thena even moved somewhat away from him as they walked.
"Hey," he said more gently, pulling her back by the hand, "wait, just look at me."
She didn't want to. She felt flustered by how strongly she had reacted to a strange fae smiling at him. Well, it wasn't just that, it was how he had smiled at her, too. Thena squirmed (as did her wings).
"Thena," he prompted, "did she...bother you?"
She frowned, feeling heat creep up her neck. "You seemed rather impressed with her."
Gil stepped closer to her, his smile turning more gentle. This was more like the Gilgamesh she knew and...knew. "She was nice. She knows a lot about humans. And she's flying back to be with her family."
Thena peeked at him.
"I told her all about you," he said with a grin. "Told her about how you came up from the southern Isles and I've been enchanted by you ever since."
She rolled her eyes. He would not charm him way out of trouble this time.
He leaned closer, though, moving his hands to her cheeks to make her meet his eyes. "Don't believe me?"
Thena's eyes fluttered, his breath hitting her cheeks. "You seemed rather enchanted by her, as well."
He chuckled before leaning in, touching their lips together gently. "Did I?"
He damn well did. Thena kissed him again, rising up on her toes.
"How could I be?" he smiled, moving his lips to her cheek as he slid his hand up her back and between her wings. "When I've already found the most beautiful fae in all the realms."
Thena inhaled as her nose hit the robes over his chest. He smelled of sea air and of pine forests. She nuzzled into him, although she felt something in the folds of his tunic.
He had her feather slipped into his robes, over his heart.
"Am I forgiven?" he asked as she wrapped her arms around him as well. He massaged between her wings with one hand and held her waist with the other. Their heads hovered close, their horns even knocked together slightly in their proximity.
"Just," she offered minimally. She still wasn't happy with how taken he seemed with the beautiful fae, no matter how little she blamed him for it.
"What if we stop by the human farms on our way home, ask for some apples?" he suggested as he grasped her hand in his.
"Hm," Thena sighed, parting with him somewhat reluctantly. Her wings fluffed behind her. "I suppose that would be agreeable."
He could clearly tell her ire wasn't nearly what she made it seem to be. But he played along, bowing to her as he would when they had first met and were coming to know one another.
"Will you carry them home for me?" she asked needlessly. Of course he would, but she was savouring the idea of a feeling like a fae with a perspective mate wrapped around her finger.
"Anything for you," Gilgamesh promised her, bending his head to kiss her shoulder as she passed him to take off first.

Changeling!Tim’s childhood is... actually kinda horrifying, when anyone looks into it.
(CW for forced medical procedures, and abuse in the form of temporary imprisonment. Also, minor self-harm, and… I don’t know what you call “eating something that will make you sick so your parents don’t get mad at you,” but I know it ain’t good.)
Tim had pretty pronounced fangs when he was younger, which his parents were just planning to wait out... until he was fast coming up on 10 and it was clear Tim wasn’t going to lose his teeth. A quick x-ray proved that Tim didn’t have adult teeth to grow in, just the one set he came with, and the fangs were only getting more obvious. His parents found an orthodontist willing to yank the fangs & wire up the rest of Tim’s teeth with braces to force them to look smooth & even as he grew up. (The doctor kept the teeth as a curiosity, and a decade later Damian will track that doctor down to steal them back.)
Something even Tim didn’t realize until he had to undergo a full Justice League-grade medical exam in preparation for becoming Robin, is that the tiny points on his ears aren’t natural. They have no idea what the ears of the baby Jack & Janet received looked like, but Tim’s points are actually mostly scar tissue. (Bruce puts it down as “a cosmetic procedure not dissimilar to ear cropping in canines” and tries not to feel sick.)
(There was also a period where the Drakes did an awful lot of research into cosmetic eye surgeries, but they eventually gave up. Apparently, it was a bigger concern that their son might end up blinded than that his eyes glowed in the dark and/or were the wrong color.)
As I mentioned before, Tim’s parents trim his thorns so that nobody goes to ruffle Tim’s hair and realizes he’s not human. He... actually started doing it himself when he decided to become Robin, because Tim has seen Bruce ruffle Jason & Dick’s hair so many times and didn’t want to hurt Bruce (or experience the absolute agony of having a thorn get caught in Bruce’s gloves and end up ripped out of Tim’s scalp,) as well as not wanting to give away Tim’s own inhuman nature with the single most obvious trait he has. (When the rest of the family find out, they are horrified and insist that Tim stop doing that. Instead of hair-ruffles, Tim gets hair-strokes that go only in one direction, bumping harmlessly over the curved outer edges of his thorns; it’s actually very soothing for both parties. Everyone absolutely uses Tim’s thorns as a stim toy, as long as Tim’s okay with it.)
Tim’s parents also hire an in-house barber to cut Tim’s hair, so they can make sure it’s “properly disposed of.” (Tim’s nightmares always smell faintly of burning hair.)
Tim wears fancy dress gloves to all dinners, because with the uppercrust you never know if someone’s going to bring out the real silverware. (If someone tells him to take off the gloves or Tim’s skin happens to brush up against somebody’s jewelry, Tim just sorta has to... deal. It’s rude to rush out or refuse your hosts, after all.) (Fortunately, Dick and the Titans all prefer reusable plastic silverware. And as soon as any Bat finds out about Tim’s fae nature, Wayne Manor quickly switches to stainless steel.)
It’s nearly impossible to know if a meal was prepared with iodized salt or non-iodized salt until it’s already in Tim’s mouth and the burning-itching discomfort of coming in contact with an anti-fae substance begins. It’s rude not to at least try the food someone offers you, and it’s even ruder to just spit something out, especially out in public. At least Tim doesn’t usually have to fake it when he says he’s not feeling well in order to stop eating. (Tim doesn’t tell the Waynes about this until that medical exam, where he kinda jokes about being allergic to salt and someone’s like, “Wait, how do you eat? Everything has salt in it nowadays.” Alfred rather forlornly puts his sea salt up on the top shelf and buys a jar of iodized table salt on the next grocery run.)
Tim’s blood is immediately identifiable because it has chloroplasts in it. No, he’s not actually a plant; yes, he can perform limited photosynthesis. No, Tim was not aware of this about himself, he’s never been allowed to give blood before, and like??? Sure, he figured out he was a changeling, but that does not immediately translate to, “Oh, I should test my blood for plant cells!”
Tim’s room doesn’t look any different from any other boy his age... except for three nails over the door on the outside. For the iron horseshoe Tim’s parents hang there sometimes, when they don’t want him to bother them or when he’s grounded. (Thankfully, it's been very rare for Tim to actually be trapped in his room, as setting up a salt line on his windowsills has always been... well, he's not sure. A step too far, even for his parents? A step too many to remember and/or perform in the heat of the moment? Something they don’t even realize is necessary, assuming the horseshoe prevents Tim from leaving the room at all rather than simply crossing that one threshold? Tim doesn’t like to think about it. Tim typically stays in his room anyway when he feels the swooping nausea of it hanging over his door, if only so his parents don’t find him missing and decide sealing the windows is something they ought to be doing. Trapped not by any law or binding ritual, but by Tim’s own admittedly rare fear of consequences.) (After Tim is snatched by faerie hunters, Jason and Dick are the ones who search Tim’s house. There’s a moment of silence when they find the horseshoe and realize what the nails are for. “I really hope I don’t have to point this out,” Jason says, in the tone of someone who’s going to do it anyway, “but it’s never a good sign when a kid’s bedroom has a lock on the outside.”)

𝐀𝐔. 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐅𝐀𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐄 𝐐𝐔𝐄𝐄𝐍 (𝐀𝐂𝐎𝐓𝐀𝐑 𝐈.)
Tumblr media
𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲
On Valyria, a world which no longer exists, the Valyrians lived in harmony with the dragons they rode. The magic in their world had been potent with fire, rich as blood. That is, until the Asteri tore into it. Twelve years before the Asteri doomed the world, Daenys had her dream and urged her father and family to flee. Through ancient and forbidden Valyrian sorcery, the Targaryens, along with their dragons, left their world behind and landed in the Fae World. There, they lived, building their familial citadel with sorcery and dragonfire on an island off the coast of the some new land. That new land was Westeros, which, itself, is a large island located to the West of the continent. In a later generation, Aegon and his sisters saw the fragmentation of the realms warring in Westeros and, following yet another dream, fought to unify the lands beneath one crown. This played a role in the overthrowing of the Daglan.
In “The Sunset Kingdom”, as it is often called, for millennia, humans were able to live without fear of enslavement; however, depending on the rulers, the treatment of humans within the kingdom fluctuated. When the War began 500 years prior to the story, Aerys had been in power for centuries, and human terrorization was condoned. In fact, under his rule, Westeros joined with Hybern as a Loyalist faction. Most of the human population fled during and after the War.
Centuries after the War and the Treaty, internal conflicts arose amongst noble families within Westeros. One such conflict occurred when Rhaegar and Robert claimed to share a mating bond with Lyanna, causing the Rebellion, Rhaegar and Aerys’ death, and the forced exile of Daenerys and Viserys from the land.
Daenerys was born twenty-two years prior to the events of ACOTAR (this can be up to plotting, though!) . Her story essentially follows her canon in ASOIAF, being spirited away across the sea to different territories and the shaken Prythian, traveling from place to place in hopes of finding allies in the chaos left behind by Amarantha’s tyranny. All the while, they sustained themselves by selling their mother's jewelry.
While on the continent, they catch word of the Dothraki — — — a group of lesser fae akin to centaurs. Traditionally nomadic, fragmented, and skilled in battle, Viserys deems them a "warmongering people" and conspires with Illyrio Mopatis, a merchant of Montesere, to make contact with the famed Khal Drogo, who leads the largest and most feared herd. Being a Khal, he has the small bit of magic that allows him to shift between man and centaur. Viserys sells Daenerys at the age of eighteen to Drogo, who leads the largest herd, for the promise that he will help Viserys retake their family’s throne.
As a wedding gift, she is given three eggs, said to have originated from her ancestors’ forgotten world. These eggs are of a dragon species thought to have gone extinct following the notorious Dance of the Dragons, a Westerosi civil war stoked by her own family.
Time among the centaurs is, of course, difficult at first, but Daenerys quickly adopts their culture and wins the affections of Drogo. Within months, she becomes pregnant with a boy, whom their people's Crones claim to be blessed (the Stallion Who Mounts the World, the fated prince who shall unite all the centaurs beneath one banner and lead them to glory); however, no one warns Daenerys of the dangers of bearing a centaur baby as a high fae, and while she finds immense joy in the pregnancy, it is also quite difficult.
During a conflict between Drogo’s herd and a rival, Drogo is injured severely, and Daenerys asks for help from a witch against the warnings of Drogo’s inner circle. Essentially, the events of Dany’s canon follow where her son is unknowingly sacrificed to ensure the survival of Drogo; however, his herd fragments due to this decision, leaving Daenerys to lead the remaining members. She burns the witch on Drogo’s pyre and walks into the flames, not only awakening the dragons, but awakening some sort of ancient magic of her bloodline, incorporating the magic of fire and blood. She also develops red and black wings that appear and vanish in a swirl of flames at will (like those of the long-gone Valyrians).
In the three years following all of this, Daenerys embarks on a similar path as her canon, traveling to Fae territories and kingdoms where she has heard of the horrid mistreatment of Lesser Fae, often bordering on enslavement, and liberating them.
By ACOTAR: Daenerys has been married and widowed twice, unified all the centaurs beneath her banner (and is known to them as the Stallion Who Mounts the World), and has taken back her throne in Westeros, reigning as Faerie Queen of the territory.
Verse Stats & Facts
- Daenerys’ powers include fire magic, blood magic, winnowing, and flight through the wings. She does, like Targaryens tend to do, have dragon/prophetic dreams, but I would not go so far as to call Daenerys a Seer.
- Daenerys, of course, is concerned about the rise of Hybern and wants to do anything possible to protect the humans since they will be unable to protect themselves against the massive army — — — and the Cauldron.
