- or perhaps im reading too much into it. maybe i see her in every entity, every love song and every piece i read. maybe it isn’t his intention. perhaps he just speaks the tale of his longing and i have interpreted it the way that I want to think. for my pining is not for a person but a place; so i seek for her traces everywhere i go so desperately.

آئے کچھ ابر کچھ شراب آئے

اس کے بعد آئے جو عذاب آئے

Aaye kuchh abr kuchh sharaab aaye

Us ke baad aaye jo azaab aaye

“Clouds have arrived, some wine has arrived,

After that, may even torment arrive.”

کر رہا تھا غم جہاں کا حساب

آج تم یاد بے حساب آئے

Kar raha tha gham-e-jahaab ka hisaab

Aaj tum yaad be-hisaab aaye

Today, memories of you have arrived endlessly.”

دل میں اب یوں ترے بھولے ہوئے غم آتے ہیں

جیسے بچھڑے ہوئے کعبے میں صنم آتے ہیں

ایک ایک کرکے ہوئے جاتے ہیں تارے روشن

میری منزل کی طرف تیرے قدم آتے ہیں

رقص مے تیز کرو، ساز کی لے تیز کرو

سوئے مے خانہ سفیران حرم آتے ہیں

کچھ ہمیں کو نہیں احسان اٹھانے کا دماغ

وہ تو جب آتے ہیں مائل بہ کرم آتے ہیں

اور کچھ دیر نہ گزرے شب فرقت سے کہو

دل بھی کم دکھتا ہے، وہ یاد بھی کم آتے ہیں

In English We Says;

“You got beautiful eyes”

But in Urdu We Says;

“teri surat se hai aalam mein bahaaron ko sabaat teri aankhon ke siwa duniya mein rakkha kya hai”

Once Kafka said,

“So I'm still and I'm silent, because if I open my mouth, I may never stop screaming.”

And then I remembered what Faiz said,

“Dard itna hai ki har rag mein hai mahshar barpa aur sakun aisa ki mar jaane ko ji chahta hai."

“There is so much stubborn hope in the human heart."

And Faiz Ahmad Faiz said:

"Dil na-umid to nahin nakaam hi to hai, lambi hai gham ki sham magar sham hi to hai"

When Munir Niazi said 'mohabbat ab nahi hogi' & Jaun Eliya asked 'Aik hi shakhs tha jahan mein kia?' & Mehdi Hassan sang 'Muhabbat karne wale kam na honge' & Faiz Ahmad Faiz said 'Aur bhi dukh hain zamanay mein muhabbat k siwa' and when my heart kept going through all these phases w/o finding peace.

Tanhai mein kya kya na tujhe yaad kiya hai, kya kya na dil-e-zar ne dhundi hain panahen

When Parveen Shakir said;

‘chalne ka hausla nahin rukna muhaal kar diya, ishq ke is safar ne to mujh ko nidhaal kar diya’

And when Faiz said;

‘himmat-e-iltija nahin baqi, zabt ka hausla nahin baqi, ek teri deed chhin gai mujh se, warna duniya mein kya nahin baqi’

"Urdu is so unnecessarily seductive like "Is qadar pyar se ai jaan-e-jahan rakha hai, dil ke rukhsar pe is waqt teri yaad ne hat" just means "I miss you" like can you not please."
