you requested asks to fuel the brainworms so: I simply must know what kinds of video essays scar makes, in what kind of style?? how did grian stumble across them?

YIPPEE YIPPEE YIPPEE I WAS HOPING THAT SOMEONE WOULD ASK THIS !!

scar makes video essays about anything and everything! one day, he'll upload something about amusement parks or roller coasters, and the next it'll be about a book he's read or a show he enjoyed. the video essays aren't really that edited, and sometimes they can go a little long when scar starts rambling about something unrelated mid-essay, but his personality shines through, and it shines bright. sometimes, though...he seems lonely, and i think that's what makes grian so curious about him. how can this bright, boisterous man, full of so much life, be lonely? surely he has friends - surely he has people to listen to his endless ramblings, to listen and to hear. but...sometimes it doesn't seem like it. sometimes, when scar posts little mini-essays just talking about his day - what he ate for breakfast, the silly thing his cat did that afternoon - he seems awfully lonely indeed. and i think that grian's lonely too - he works long hours to keep himself busy, to keep himself distracted from the gnawing feeling that something is missing, that his life is meant to have more to it than this - then going to work and coming home and eating and sleeping and existing. and i think that endears scar to him. and then especially when he starts noticing the similarities between scar and hoyguy - his rampant curiosity kicks in, and it's all over from there.

as for how grian stumbled across scar's channel...he actually isn't sure. he seemingly was just...subscribed to him one day, with no recollection of doing so. honestly, he figures that scar just...bought some subscribers as a way to kickstart his channel, and doesn't really question it!

This is a story for all the warm feelings; a story that wraps Wei Wuxian in a soft blanket and makes sure he's safe and comfortable. Wangxian are adorable too. Excerpt: “What do you mean you’re leaving, A-Xian?” “Forgive this one, Jiang-zongzhu.” He bows. “I have a dream of seeing the world the way my parents did.” He tries to keep the hurt from his voice. “It has become clear that I cannot learn about them here.” “But A-Xian,” Jiang Fengmian starts. “Please, do not refer to me so intimately.” He closes his eyes. Summary: If it hadn’t been for Wangji’s definite preoccupation with that one particular guest disciple, Xichen might never have noticed the… discrepancies. Kay's comments: Was craving some slightly dark Lan Clan and revisted this story recently. I really loved the angle that something was clearly a little off with Wei Wuxian's education. He's a celestial fox, who should have been seen as a boon by the Jiangs and yet, something was wrong. Not friendly to the Jiangs and the Lans are darker, since they are dragons and give in to their hoarding instincts. Featuring a smitten Wangxian during the Cloud Recesses Study Arc. Also, really fun to have the story from Lan Xichen's POV! Excerpt: He bows to Xichen like they were equals, like they were both heirs to one of the major sects. When Wei Wuxian certainly isn’t. Come to think of it… Xichen tilts his head in thought. Wei Wuxian bows to Xichen just as Jiang Wanyin does, the exact same angle and depth and time holding the bow. Almost like Wei Wuxian might have copied said bow straight off his brother. Almost like he might not have been taught differently and was certainly never corrected in his behavior. It is at that point, after their first few interactions, a few conversations full of bright, genuine laughter and just slightly off manners, that Xichen starts noticing the discrepancies. The discrepancies of someone supposedly raised amongst gentry – alongside an heir to one of the major sects, no less – but who so clearly doesn’t have the expected ease of a firm and steady education, certainly not in regards to sect politics. It is something anyone of the main houses would be expected to know, but which Wei Wuxian simply doesn’t, committing faux-pas after faux-pas, though never grave enough to be confronted about it and also clearly without intent, but rather because he simply doesn’t seem to know better.
