I genuinely feel like an alien compared to my coworkers when they try to chat with me about things like dating and weight loss. like what are you SAYING about "oh you know it's just so hard to make your man understand the instructions you give him?" why are you trying to connect with me by complaining that you gained 15 pounds? is this how most people form connections in the workplace? i for real do not get it

DP X DC Like Father Like Son
Danny and Tim had been dating for a year or so now, and after having moved in together Tim loves his boyfriend to bits with one singular complaint.
He never remembers to use the fucking door.
See, Danny had never been particularly shy about his meta status, he'd been taking his little 'shortcuts' through walls for long before Tim had met him. Tim knew he saw the laws of physics as somewhat optional, but he just couldn't understand how someone who had grown up till their teenage years a completely average human could so often have reality slip his mind.
So when he goes over to the Fenton family home for Thanksgiving week and sees his boyfriend's father absentmindedly kool-aid man his way through the public library's exterior wall, Danny's behavior suddenly started to make a lot more sense.

All this aroace character shipcourse has proven to me that a majority of people that interact in fandom cannot actually interact with characters and media outside of shipping and genuinely I believe you need to learn how to interact with media outside of shipping.

Okay so this whole chapter (97) of Spy x Family is adorable and amazing and Henderson keeps being one of the best characters in the manga...
But finding out that Henderson hates resorting to violence and sees it as both a last resort to protect those he sees as needing protecting but also something to be ashamed of makes the punch he throws durring the forgers interview even better!!!!!
ELEGANT INDEED SIR!!!

Some reminder to the people odd enough to pit Lilia and Yuu against each other for some reason, claiming the extremity that he doesn't care about the other because the other is more important to him.
Lilia fulfilled his duties as Malleus' legal guardian. He was always encouraging to Malleus and urges him to make friends and experience new things. Still, Malleus has made no progress regarding that-- which is proved by the fact that he's a third year now with zero friends.
He does try, like the background assumption that he tries to approach Leona as a fellow prince, but the problem is that no one amicably returns his efforts in the slightest. This is a blow to his confidence, which means he thinks it's impossible for him to make connections in the first place.
That is, until Yuu happened.
Yuu was the confirmation that Malleus is, indeed, able to form bonds with others. They were the assurance that it's alright for him to approach people (given he's the one who keeps popping up at their house), rather than waiting for a miracle that someone would talk to him. As his admittedly fanservice-y lyric in GloMas implies, Yuu was his guiding light.
Lilia was always the one who opens doors for him, but Yuu was the little firefly who guided him outside. It's a subtle role, but one that has a huge impact for someone who never once stepped outside. Lilia and Yuu have different roles, but they are both important bridges that helped connect him to this new stage in his life.

During my mini hiatus I fulfilled my dream of visiting Norway! The most surprising thing was hearing Lithuanian being spoken literally everywhere. My mum and I always speak Lithuanian to each other, so it was incredibly bizarre for people to overhear us and then come speak with us, or to have waiters/shopkeepers switch from English to Lithuanian. I’ve never experienced anything like it before, and I had no idea so many Lithuanians live in Norway! I absolutely ADORED this, it made all the places we visited instantly feel like home. Despite all that, I learned a bit of Norwegian and discovered that it’s literally the cutest language. Language learning is absolutely wonderful

having recently spent the weekend with my family, I think one of the strangest alterations in their new "retired" lifestyle, is that my father is a lot chattier and happier than I remember him being for a long time.
the father that I grew up with was---in hindsight---as busy and stressed and distracted as I am right now. He was struggling with his job in ways that the me-of-today recognizes intimately. Except I get to go home after a long day of work and watch dumb television, or read, whereas he went home to his wife and children, who needed him to be a father after 6pm.
I have a lot of memories of him after we'd gone to bed, sitting in his worn armchair and watching television, eating an entire tub of ice cream. At the time I thought it was inexplicable and a little scary, the way that things you don't understand can be when you're young.
fast forward 20 years, and I've realized....he was not much older than I am now. he had a wife and small children and the regular old businessy worries that I do---but if I lost my job on Monday, I could support myself until I found something else. Less forgiveness if you're the only salary-earner in a large family.
that said, it is very hard to sit there and listen to him---and my mother too, quite frankly---talk about how happy they are in retirement. I'm glad they are, of course I am! But right now I am sitting in the fucking armchair. I am eating ice cream in the dark, and worrying. It wasn't so long ago, don't you remember?

My fic writing process
Me: Here is an interesting idea, extrapolating the story's inherent, underutilized worldbuilding and not only acting upon it, but expanding it and making it my own to explore themes and characters I enjoy.
Also Me: Ok but also this would be Hilarious

It's kinda shocking to me how few people seem to know how prevalent the 'my great grandmother was cherokee' myth is and how it's almost never actually true, especially when it comes with things like 'never signed up' or 'fell off the trail' or 'courthouse burned down destorying the documentation' etc etc.
People just don't even seem to know the history like.. when the Trail happened. My great great great grandfather was 2 years old during Removal in 1838, so peoples 'my great grandmother hid in the mountains!' is so clearly wrong. And we have rolls. From before and after removal, rolls done by cherokee nation and others by the government, rolls that were not stored in one random flammable courthouse. It's not difficult to find the actual evidence of ancestry.
And just.. there are lots of ways those family stories get started. It was a practice during the confederacy to claim cherokee ancestry to show one's family had 'deep roots in the south' that they were there before the cherokee were removed. Many people pretended to be cherokee and applied for the Guion-Miller payout just to try to steal money meant for cherokees - 2/3rds of the applicants were denied for having 0 proof of actual cherokee ancestry. [We even see lawyers advertising signing up for the Miller roll just to try to get free money.] And the myth even started in some families in the cherokee land lotteries, where the land stolen from us was raffled off, including the house and everything that was left behind when the cherokees were removed. We have seen people whose families just take these things stolen from the cherokee family and adopt them into their own family story, saying that they were cherokee themselves.
If you had some family story about being cherokee and you wanna have proof one way or the other, check out this Facebook group run by expert cherokee genealogists that do research for free. Just please read the rules fully and respect the researchers. They run thousands of people's ancestries a year and their average is only around 0.7% of lines they run actually end up having true cherokee ancestry.

I could do a really good analysis on how patriarchy encourages sex crimes particularly with men and that these crimes are not the result of biology or generics like people claim but I feel like if I make any more posts about sex offenders people will not be a fan of this blog 💀
