Great to hear there's another one of us out there too! I'm sure there's more advice I'll think of later but these are the points that come to mind today.

Don't take shit from men in university or in the workplace. If you know you're right, don't be afraid to argue back. Working with a bunch of cowboys who care more about making money and being macho men than actually valuing safety and quality will never get you ahead in the industry, it'll most likely leave you either in hospital or in court.

Not sure about where you're from, but female civil engineers are reasonably rare here (with the exception of environmental specialisations). Whilst it can be lonely, it's also an asset in that as long as you're decent at your job, companies will want you because you make them look good. Female civvies are a white whale in some disciplines. Find somewhere with good pay, good work/life balance, and good company culture. So many organisations will likely want you as their poster child that you won't need to settle.

If you can avoid working for a company where you're the only woman on the payroll, or being the only woman in your team for group projects, do it - whilst you might feel like a trailblazer at the start, it will become a very isolating environment.

If you end up working/interning in a site-based role, invest in a menstrual cup if you're physically able to use one. Construction site toilets are notorious for never having sanitary bins - half of them don't even have soap, so it's wise to keep hand sanitizer on you too.

If you need to purchase work boots, get a pair specifically designed for women - the foot proportions are different and your body will thank you for it in the long term.

It is actually remarkably difficult to dye or bleach over ginger hair- something about the texture does not want to take to it. You need professional-grade supplies for that.

why don’t people draw jack naked? wasn’t it canon?

hello! i have some thoughts about this topic specifically

nudity is something that has been extremely sexualised for absolutely no reason. artistic and symbolic nudity (such as adam and eve or renaissance paintings/greek statues) have been crucial ways to show descent or ascent. i’m a firm believer that jacks nudity in the book was a reference to his lack of civilisation/loss of morality.

HOWEVER, people usually don’t draw him nude because he is a child. yes, children can still display symbolic nudity without pornographic intent, but almost 10 times out of 10, nobody does that. i would never ever draw jack nude, but i am an adult nowhere near his age. adults are DEFINITELY capable of communicating symbolic nudity in children without sexual intent. if you feel comfortable doing it symbolically, you have to execute it right (for reference: otto lohmüller is an artist who shows this)

so TL;DR -> his nudity his not shameful, it’s not sexual, but when it comes to drawing jack canonically, i will ALWAYS give him pants for my comfort and the comfort of the fandom

I loved totk for what it was (zelda playground) and I like ur thoughts n onions on it too. Variety makes the world go round and such

hshdhdj wahh <3 exactly!! i think the playground aspect of it is my biggest problem, but that's definitely more of a personal preference than a subjective fact about the game. botw captivated me for the exploration angle meanwhile totk was more about experimenting with the zonai devices, a mechanic i could not get into. it's why i can still go back to botw and enjoy it like it's brand new despite being evidently not, but got burnt out with totk pretty quickly. i do absolutely enjoy seeing people's wild creations online, it's just not something i'm interested in partaking in myself, but i'm happy that it's scratched that itch for other people. plus i've always told my wife (new zelda fan) to form his own opinions on the game without my bitching influencing them. when they eventually get back to the game that is lol.

now that i think about it, i think a more fair way of looking at it is that totk might be another majora's mask situation for me. much love and respect to me, but it's not a game that i can play because the existence of the timer stresses me out too much. i have a much better time watching other people play it and i haven't experienced that with totk (one day i'll stop fucking around and finally finish stephenplays' botw streams and start their totk ones) but that could be better for me.

ty for the reassurance <3 i think all of my snide remarks from the past two years are taking their toll and i'm tired, and i'm imagining that it's tiring other people out too. i would rather engage in healthy criticism and continue festering in my disappointment. also when i do inevitably end up replaying the game at some point (i have no idea when i'll be ready for that but i will eventually) i do want to focus more on the stuff i liked. i remember telling my flatmate after i finished that i ranked the game a 7/10, and while i think that score is far too generous and was evidently just me riding the high off of totk's, quite frankly, amazing final battle, it makes it clear that there is stuff for me to enjoy, and there was other stuff that i really did enjoy! and while they're obviously not direct comparisons, i've always said that if i can gain a newfound love and appreciation for age of calamity after a disappointing first playthrough that i quit not even half way through, then i want to be optimistic that totk can meet the same fate.

wait you use krita too? whats your favorite brush? my style always looks so bad with any of the typical ones 😭😭😭

lately ive been using a modified version of the ink-7_brush_rough! changing it from the default circular brush tip to the predefined "a -18 roung eroded anim" brush tip + going to the pressure and removing fade while adjusting the pressure to better fit my natural drawing weight (low 70%, high 95%) added that little extra kick i wanted <3 by the looks of it i never changed the texture at all, but im sure you could play around and see if you like anything different if you go in the settings and try yourself!

^ with the compared lines, shapes, and even-pressure coloring, you can tell the default ink-7 seems less controlled in my hand; the modified version i made turned it into my favorite brush! its like the art equivalent of getting your clothes tailored to fit you LOL

It's been so fun to write Peri going through every emotion at once (grief, longing, anger, regret, desperation, emptiness) while Timmy only has one things on his brain, lmao
