FAYBELLE READER.

You were chaos wrapped in glittering wings, a walking, talking contradiction of charm and mischief. A troublemaker with a cause—your destiny, after all, was to be the villain, and you embraced it with a cheerleader’s flair.

“Ready? OKAY! Onesie, twosie, counting sheep! Drowsy teacher, go to sleep!”

Professor Trein barely managed a glare before his eyes rolled back, snoring mid-lecture. The class erupted in whispers, a mix of admiration and terror. You twirled your wand, smirking as you lay back on seat.

And that's when you felt it—an unnatural stillness. A weighty gaze, suffocating, intoxicating, whatever words you like to describe but it felt uncomfortable. You search for the source and then you found it, no more like them.

Diasomnia.

Oh okay totally not creepy.... You look at...

Lilia chuckled, fangs peeking past his lips. “Oh, my dear, what a delightful trick.” His crimson eyes gleamed with mischief, but there was something unreadable beneath. Thank you thank you. You thought.

Sebek, of course, was red in the face. “HUMAN! How dare you use such trivial magic so carelessly? That is unfit for someone under His Highness’s watchful gaze—” His Highness, what? Dude, I'm not human, but whatever.

Silver, rubbing his temples, sighed. “I… would prefer if you didn’t put people to sleep so recklessly.”, yeah yeah pretty boy.

And Malleus… oh, Malleus. He studied you like a rare treasure, amusement flickering in his eerie green eyes. “Curses, you say?” His voice was smooth, deliberate. “How fascinating. I wonder… could you curse me?”

Your heart skipped. The way he said it, with that deep, velvety intrigue, sent a shiver down your spine.

Your wings fluttered, lips curving into a sly grin. “You can't blame a girl for following her destiny.”

Lilia clapped his hands together. “Indeed! Perhaps we should help you embrace it fully. We wouldn’t want you to feel… unappreciated.” what!? okay...

Something in his tone made your stomach twist—excitement, fear, anticipation. It was unsettling to say the least.

Ehh this isn't too bad...

"Until you get it right!" Sebek's voice echoed through the training grounds, his frustration evident. [N], perched precariously on a branch high above, wondering where they heard before, stifled a giggle. "Oh my Seevveennn, my spirit squad has no spirit!" she muttered her signature spell, PROBLEMS, allowing her to soar effortlessly through the air without the use of her wings.

Below, Sebek continued to berate the hapless first-years, his attempts at instructing them in swordsmanship turning into a comical display of exasperated shouting. Silver, ever patient, tried to calm his junior, while Lilia, with a mischievous glint in his eyes, simply watched the chaos unfold.

[N] Faybelle, a witch from a faraway land, had arrived at Night Raven College with a reputation for mischief. Her signature spells, often cast with a mischievous grin and a muttered "Don't ask me why. Being bad is, like, the BEST!", were notorious for causing minor (and sometimes major) inconveniences.

Malleus, the Dorm Head of Diasomnia, had been intrigued from the moment he witnessed her effortlessly causing mischievousness. Her wild, untamed spirit, a stark contrast to the rigid order he was accustomed to, had captivated him.

At first, his interest was merely curiosity. He found himself drawn to her, observing her from afar, fascinated by her unconventional magic and her rebellious streak. But his fascination quickly morphed into something darker, a possessive obsession that consumed him.

He began to subtly interfere in her life, "accidentally" encountering her at every turn, "coincidentally" appearing whenever she was in trouble. He showered her with extravagant gifts, his intentions veiled beneath a facade of benevolent generosity.

[N], initially very much flattered by the attention of the powerful fae prince, soon began to feel a creeping unease. Malleus's presence was suffocating, his gaze heavy with a possessiveness that made her skin crawl. She felt that it was too much but yet this was her chance to get a shiny prince!

One evening, as she was preparing to retire to her room, she felt a sudden chill. "PROBLEMS, go to sleep." she muttered under her breath, casting a minor sleep spell on her unseen spy.

But instead of the expected drowsiness, a wave of dizziness washed over her, and the world tilted precariously. When she regained consciousness, she found herself in a room of unimaginable luxury, yet devoid of any windows.

Panic swelled within her. Where was she? What had happened? Did her spell backfire? It wasn't supposed to!? She felt a stare. She quickly turned around meeting...

Malleus, his eyes gleaming with an unsettling intensity, stood before her. "You cannot escape me, my gem," he purred, his voice a silken trap. "You are mine."

Your heart pounded against your ribs. You struggled against the invisible force that held you captive, but it was futile. Malleus had woven an intricate web of magic around her, a gilded cage.

"Of course I would love a shiny prince buutt I like to be my destiny!," she had once declared, her voice filled with youthful bravado. Now, trapped within Malleus's suffocating embrace, she realized the true meaning of her words. Her destiny, it seemed, was to be their yes, not to him but to them, to be their prisoner, forever bound to them by an invisible chain of their magic.

Malleus Draconia:

"You are… different from the others. And I find that rather fascinating."

"A fellow wielder of curses… How curious. What other wonders are you hiding, little fae?"

"Fate has brought us together. Why resist it?"

"You say you walk alone, but I wonder… how long will it take before you realize you belong to us?

I was 2 weeks after the floating thing and she would not shut up about how cute you looked so the wonderlander took it apon themselves to explain which took a week and another trying to get her to do it was tearing. So she walked up to you as you fixed cedar arm she shouted "I love you" You were not paying attention it took cedar hitting you with her good are to get it through your head.

Raven queen: you did. You did notes her face go as red as your plane but decided not to point it out just incase it was because of your bad joke. Yet she kept trying to find a way to spend time with you. You desired that she wouldn't do it her self. So you made some origami flowers and asked her on a date.

Faybell thorn: she did she chased you after making her beat red so she grabbed you by the shoulde and said "y/n queen what the hell." You rolled your eyes "got anything else to say thorns." She smiled smugly "yes I do. You are going on a date with me after school." You nod and walked of.

Ca cupid: she did,dexter just noticed how cupid felt about him but she moved on and started realising her feelings for you but your brother is being a pain in the back. faybelle thorn is the type of girlfriend who insists that you’re the only person she can stand — who has such an obvious soft spot for you that everyone else in school can see it… which, unfortunately for her, makes her cruel ‘dark fairy’ facade even less convincing and even less threatening than it was before the two of you became an item

(she does try to show off her magical capabilities in front of you by messing with your classmates, of course, but they’re all much more inclined to tease her or brush it off entirely because her actions are more mischevious than actually harmful these days)

she is your absolute biggest cheerleader (both literally and metaphorically) and will be right there supporting you through just about everything you do, no matter how ‘big’ or ‘small’ that thing may be — and if anyone tries to put you down she’s not above hexing or otherwise harming them to get them to leave you alone (at least she’s channelling her evilness into a good cause?)

faybelle absolutely sucks at comforting you when you’re upset and tends to offer really awkward reassurances before flying off to find one of your friends to actually comfort you in her place — she does get better at this as time goes on, but when she’s really panicking her default response will always be to flee the situation and hope things get better on their own

during arguments she can come across as extremely dismissive and rude, and after the fact she’ll give you the silent treatment and avoid you in the hopes of pushing you to apologise (even if she’s the one in the wrong) — inevitably, though, she ends up feeling bad and will go seek you out to apologise in her own way in the hopes of things going back to normal

though she tries her best to stray far away from the stereotypical ‘cutesy’, ‘sickly sweet’ pet names that other students call their partners (she’s the next dark fairy after all, can’t have her reputation tarnished by any ‘goodness’ before she’s even had the chance to establish herself properly as her mother’s successor), she can’t seem to stop herself from calling you ‘sweetheart’ or ‘babe’ when talking to you

but she never uses those pet names in front of others if she can help it, and in public she tries her best to only refer to you by name (or, if she’s feeling jealous for whatever reason, she’ll very pointedly call you ‘my girlfriend/boyfriend/partner’ so that the other person gets the message) — of course there are times where she’s definitely messed up and called you something other than your name around other students, but thankfully nobody has ever brought it up to her after the fact

the second she catches wind of some juicy gossip or scandalous rumour, she’s pulling up your number on her phone (or, if you’re close enough, immediately seeking you out) and telling you everything she knows — talking about other people is 100% a love language for her (as is bragging about how much better the two of you are than whoever she’s gossiping about) but know that she’d never even dream about talking badly about you to anyone else

generally speaking, faybelle keeps you in the loop of any schemes she’s working on in regard to filling her mother’s shoes as a villain and she’s always looking to you for advice, suggestions, and praise for her ideas — especially praise… she’d never openly admit to it but she loves it when you compliment her (words of affirmation is one of her main love languages, right up there with quality time so be sure to let her know how cool and evil she is and she’ll perk up immediately from whatever bad mood she’s in)

and when those plans inevitably fall through or go awry in some unforeseen way, you’re the one she goes to for comfort and reassurance — the only person who gets to see her at her most vulnerable, emotional, and insecure as she frets about never being bad enough and if she should just give up on her destiny already

dates with faybelle tend to be more on the simple and private side as she doesn’t really like making a spectacle of your relationship (with a few exceptions that will be discussed in another point) — so usually that translates to coffee shop dates, spa nights in her dorm room, shopping trips into the nearby town, study dates in the library or elsewhere on campus, and other such things

she is extremely quick to get jealous (especially if the person you’re talking to is someone she perceives as ‘better’ than her in one way or another) and when she is jealous she gets extremely petty and possessive towards you: standing by your side, glaring at the offending party, insulting them to you in a tone that’s just loud enough for them to hear, and explicitly showing off the fact that you’re hers and that the other person doesn’t have any chance of getting with you

(even once the other person gets uncomfortable and leaves, or once you’ve had enough and drag her away, she’ll continue making all sorts of snide remarks about them until you shut her up with a kiss, offer to get her something to eat, and very firmly tell her that you’re not going anywhere and she can knock it off now)

no matter how long you’ve been together, showing her physical affection will always leave her frozen and speechless for at least a few seconds — especially if that physical affection involves kissing her on the lips or cheeks in public

once her relationship with briar starts becoming more friendly, she finds herself going to her for advice (she absolutely has a hand in helping plan any parties celebrating you or your achievements, for example) or just to talk about you for a while — she always has a lot to say and is so obviously and adorably besotted with you that briar would never even dream of complaining about these conversations, but sometimes she does wish that faybelle would choose some time other than the late hours of the night to talk to her

In defense of Apple White:

TLDR: Her personality is counter to the themes, we get little of her backstory and what we do get is later in the show, being popular in universe giver her higher expectations for fans.

Okay, Apple White gets a lot of hate for being selfish but tbh I think she and Raven are equally selfish. This also includes a breakdown of the social hierarchy.

Apple is at the top of the social ladder, and on top of that, she’s from the most politically powerful story. Being at the top of a hierarchy gives you an innate privilege and ignorance of the flaws in the society. Essentially, by virtue of birth, she has blinders on, and is treated miles better than Raven.

Villain / Antagonist: (Raven, Lizzie, Faybelle)

We also don’t get much of her background in the show, and what we do get isn’t until the second to last season (Dragon Games)

What we do get explains some of how she acts though. We see her getting a lot of pressure from her mother to be perfect at everything, grades, friends, and popularity. Truly Apple is the epitome of the “Little Miss Perfect” song that went around TikTok.

In the book we also get a story about why she clings to her destiny; at 6 years old she fell into a well. It’s said she was terrified. Page 120 of The Storybook Of Legends “It was the first time in her life that she’d ever felt alone. Or cold. Or really, truly scared.” “Even the scary parts of the Snow White story never scared Apple, because it was known.”

Apple has a LOT of anxiety around the unknown because of this event; which brings me to some of the more meta answer.

The narrative favors Raven.

The moral of Ever After High is individuality, questioning authority, and finding yourself and being authentically you.

This moral is in direct contradiction to Apple’s personality. She is Raven’s foil, and the narrative favors Raven. She is very trusting of the adults around her. (Back to the hierarchy, she has no reason to distrust them. They’ve never been anything but kind and supportive to her, unlike Raven.)

When Milton says that if they don’t sign the book that everyone in the story will “poof” (poof poof). Apple has no reason to doubt him, and again this is where I like the book more, she and Raven go on an adventure to see if it’s a lie.

But in both, Raven is not 100% sure that they won’t poof. She takes a risk (and is correct) but she gambled the lives of more than just her.

Apple is not. In fact. Only thinking of herself when she tried to get Raven to sign, she’s thinking of everyone in their story. She is not always the best at showing it, but Apple cares deeply for her friends and family, and is scared for them.

I would also like to point out that in Dragon Games she is being manipulated by Evil Queen, along with the pressure from her mother. It seems to walk back growth, but again, manipulation.

The show is full of flawed characters, and Apple is no exception. She is far from perfect but so is Raven. (Maddie might be perfect though… eh. Exceptions 🤪)

I would also argue that a character who is treated as popular and perfect in world has more pressure to be good from the audience. (Or cruel such as in Mean Girls and similar media) Apple doesn’t receive any (or very little) negativity from her peers until the Royal/Rebel debate begins. She was never given feedback to better herself. But I think this makes her harder to like by viewers/readers. She’s expected to then be perfect even by the audience.

Idk this was a little messy and all over the place, but while she’s not my favorite character, I don’t think deserves nearly as much hate as she gets.

Yes! They wanted her to fit in with their dolls and aesthetic so they made her look like she did, but showing both sides of her heritage would have been nice. They did this with Cerise and it made for an amazing story arc! And maybe there could have been a thread where Rosabella finds out about Cerise's dad (either by Cerise confiding in her or Rosabella accidentally finding out) and she earns Cerise's trust by helping her feel comfortable.

What would be really cool is if Rosabella's personality was more like the Beast. I think the reader/activist persona they crafted for her was fine, but they could have gone a bit edgier and made her arrogant/cold-hearted. This probably would ruin the Rosabella x Daring storyline, but since I think Mattel was in the wrong for pairing them up I'm completely fine with that 😅 This would show more contrast between Briar and Rosabella too, and could be a better explanation for why they didn't spend much time together growing up. The father thing is okay, but considering Briar is up to her ears in annoying brothers and Rosabella doesn't have any siblings we know of, I feel like as cousins they would have tried to be friends anyway. In the show/books, Rosabella would probably have a typical "I was rude but now I'm not", though making her more like a Faybelle figure would be really awesome.

You wanna know what? I think Rosabella should have more beast-like traits then Beauty. It doesn’t matter if it’s physical or personality-wise, I just feel it would be more interesting.

I’m not saying she should be the beast, though that might be cool, I just think they could’ve explored that side of her more.

Maybe that’s something that’s always been seen as ‘wrong’ with her. Everyone assumed she would be beauty, yet she displayed lots of attributes of the beast so they just didn’t know what her destiny really was.

Apple white: you are cerise sibling and thankfully you didn't get the wolf ears so you didn't have to wear a hood as it wasn't your story but you did wear a red bomer jacket or a hoodie.you hang out with raven and that as to make sure your sister hood doesn't go down.

Ramona badwolf: your Bambi's kid and you really don't have friends as you believe that anyone that hang out with you is doing it out of pity as everyone at this point has heard whose kid you are. Well it's not hard when you have antlers on you head.

Ca cupid: you are a charming your in-between dering and dexter so you aren't know as brave as dering or kind as dexter. so you often try and out show your sibling but it normally end up with stuck somewhere.

Cerise hood:you are maddie twin sibling but you are a tiny bit more clear so you don't often get call hatter but to the wonderlander you are still a hatter.but lizzie,bunny and Alistair love the fact you a bit more carm as they couldn't handle two maddie and kitty which you all jock about.

You rolled your eyes and thought of a way to shut her up "maybe but why would I want something as sweet as you to be around something so bitter. It will make you so sour, but I like sour things my love" then you walked away like nothing happened in a crowded hallways

Apple:you were walking with cerise when you heard apple and dering getting into an argument because dering was flirting with other girl and apple looked mad. You have talked to apple before more then your sisters combined so you have head her frustration with him, so when you walked over to interven apple shouted "I would get treated better by a rebal then you." You chuckled making dering mad "oh isn't it y/n hood the one with out a story." You smiled "so apple about what you said..." But cerise dragged you away as she saw apple was as red as her name.

Ramona: you in the inchanted forest doodling when ramona bumped into you started to apologise but ramona cut you off saying "oh carm down... I don't know your name." You smiled at her confused tone "y/n I'm Bambi's kid." Ramona had this oh look like she was confused why didn't know your name so she sat down and made you talk to her. It was the most peaceful moments in ramona life.

Ca cupid:you were trying to get something out of a tree but you got you foot stuck and you fell so but with your foot stuck you could of just hung upside down. Cerise hood: you didn't make it out with your sister so when Alistair and bunny showed up you were there trying to find your sister or her friend. You got blindside and got pick up by maddie as she was still holding you, you saw a hood girl looking at you so you gave her a wink.
