Production Phase
This past week, no shoots for The Memory Keeper were held. This week was all about rest and preparation for a big two-day shooting period this coming weekend; in Abbot, Maine. This town is a solid 2.5-3.5 hours from the production bases, so a lot of prep is involved!
The assistant director, Ethan, and I spent much time coordinating shooting schedules, driving schedules, food, and sleeping arrangements; because yes, the whole cast and crew is spending the night! The location is a quaint little forest cabin, but a tiny one. It’ll be a tight squeeze, but a fun one.
The director of photography, Clara, and I have also spent quite a bit of time ensuring we’re on the same page in terms of shot list and visual expectations. We’ll be having a long meeting about it tomorrow to solidify our plans and feel 100% prepared.
The art director, Mason, and I have also done a lot of costume and art preparation. The scenes we’re shooting this coming weekend involve a new character, Yoachim. There’s a post further down the blog about him if you want to learn more about him. We costumed up that character, and got prop preparation and set dressing down. One of our props is a meat pie, I can't wait to eat it after as a reward…
Some other little bits and bobs to update on is that our film is officially cast! It took many weeks to find the right person, but our Étouale finally has a face! More about them and their gimmick in the posts to follow. This was a hard character to cast, especially because I’m unable to pay the actor a proper salary (this being an extreme low budget student film). I’m so relieved this is finally done!
Additionally, our lovely social media manager has a fun trick up his sleeve; necklace making! One for Yoachim (the horse one) and one for Ocelia (the ocean themed one) are pictured. Ocelia is also a character you’ll hear about later!
Lots of energy and planning has gone into this week to make this coming shoot period the best it can be. Crossing my fingers it goes without a hitch!

I wanna spread the folkstory of Sangkuriang to y'all non-Indonesian but due to the absurd level of wtf it has, it can only be described in 4chan greentext format
There is a kingdom
The king went to the forest
The king pees in the forest
A boar see the king peeing
The boar drink the pee
The boar gets pregnant from the pee
Dayang Sumbi was born from said pig
Dayang Sumbi dropped her terompong (tool to spin threads) outside the palace
Dog god give it back to her like a good boy
She and the dog god got married
She and the dog god move to a cottage
They had SEX (...the dog god turned human but the point is that no one question the bestiality)
Sangkuriang was born from that
Dayang Sumbi send him and his dog god father to hunt a deer for liver at 10 y/o
Sangkuriang accidentally killed his dog god father
Sangkuriang took the dog god liver
Sangkuriang told his mother that the liver is the dog god's IN THE MIDDLE OF EATING
She got mad and kicked him out
shefeelsbad.png
She prayed to the gods and become a vegan while waiting for him to return
Sangkuriang return ±1 decade later
Sangkuriang sees his own mother and FALL IN LOVE WITH HER
Sangkuriang is a dumbass to not remember she is his mother
Dayang Sumbi acted quick amd told him to make a huge ass ship
Sangkuriang does that with help of spirits/demons
Dayang Sumbi stop him at 99% finish by using roosters and holy shawl that flashed light
Sangkuriang angy
Samgkuriang kick the ship (don't ask)
Ship turn into mountain

weird question, but is there a reason why humans with rabies don't become as mindlessly aggressive as animals with rabies? like, how come people with rabies aren't running around biting everyone?
If I'd hazard a guess, it probably cooks us before we progress that far. Additionally, it also likely has something to do with natural instinct- humans with rabies while they are still able to talk report feeling intense fear and pain while experiencing hallucinations.
Most humans actively don't want to hurt other people- I have a schizophrenic aunt and even in her worst delusions and hallucinations where she may be screaming threats, she's never actually followed through on any of them because she genuinely doesn't want to hurt anyone when she's capable of processing situations logically. Similarly, I have a friend-of-a-friend who is also severely mentally ill, and the only times he's ever hurt someone are when he gets grabbed while he's hallucinating that someone is trying to hurt him. Those he's lashed out at in this state get shoved or kicked or punched before he continues to try to get away from them (they also forgive him immediately because they are his caretakers and understand his mental state very well).
When we started using tools as a species, we also stopped reaching for "biting you" as a defensive response unless there is truly no other choice. Even in the grips of intense fear and panic and pain and delusion and hallucination and paranoia, humans are more likely to choose literally any other option than teeth unless that's their last line of defense. We probably did bite each other back when we were no different than our great ape cousins.
More or less, I'm not entirely convinced that rabies sends signals for "bite" specifically, and is more sending signals for "attack", and humans don't really reach for "bite" when attacking as a general rule unlike other animals. Humans who are restrained in their hospital beds are significantly more likely to bite their caregivers- shoving, kicking, and punching are out of the question when you're tied down. That is true regardless of if they have rabies or not.
Additionally, the virus seems to only progress so far before it stagnates at a specific stage in certain animals. Bats are significantly more likely to have "dumb rabies" than "furious rabies". This could be due to a number of things ranging from "dumb rabies makes them incapable of flight and fucks up their sonar [true!] and so they starve to death before symptoms can progress past that [theory!] since they have fast metabolisms and missing even a single night's meal is devastating to their health [true!]" to "bats show some resistance to rabies as a whole [true!] and thus it may take much longer for symptoms to progress in the usual manner and so the bat generally dies before it can go any further [theory!]" Bats CAN progress to the furious stage, but we don't tend to see it as often.
There has never been a recorded instance of rabies passing from human to human so my money's on a combo of the two theories. It's very possible that Grug The Caveman got rabies from the wolves he was trying to tame and then wiped out his entire society by zombie-biting the fuck out of everyone who tried to help him. But we weren't writing things down at that point, so we have no way of knowing.
Rabies' first documentation is 4000 years ago- but it's very possible it existed before that, since the writing just states that the owner of a rabid dog needs to take provisions against it biting anyone, meaning we knew by then what rabies was and that the bite was dangerous. It's very possible this disease has followed us around since before humans harnessed fire and invented the wheel. That's a decent amount of un-accounted-for time for humans to have hulked out and started zombie-biting.
We have so many folkstory monsters in nearly every culture on the planet that boil down to "had contact with an animal that was acting strangly, turned me into a savage monster that tries to kill everything I see less than a month later, btw my monster disease is super contagious and I spread it by biting the fuck out of you" that predate any modern science knowledge of how the virus works, which makes me think that it probably did happen back in the caveman days and it's ancestrial memory that has us clinging to these concepts to this day.

You ever felt like you really just didn’t belong?
You ever feel even alienated to your very own past?
You ever feel the darkened emptiness of the horizon just by looking into yourself?
You ever grasped the deepened blue sky as if it were only illusion?
Do you ever exist?
Somewhere deep in these mechanisms where even the cold resists to linger.
Something unreal that even challenges your very own humanity.
Somehow standing in the darkness the emotionless robot that is the reflection in the mirror.
Ancestry of mystery encoded in the microscopic ecosystem of our bodies.
Inheritance of electronic signals in the brain enslaved to repeat generational patterns.
Folkstories of delusion whispering in the ears of your self diagnosed psychosis.
Emerging out of the flame not as gold, but as burns and scars that scream of trauma.
Rebirth as a being not of light nor dark, but as a wavelength without form.
An afterlife of vibration, formless form like the solution to a paradox.
Return to infinity as your ashes scatter across the subspace of reality.
Escape the cycle.
Breathe backwards.

Heya!
I love your camp AU, it's so fun and your art style is really cool! They all look so skrunkly <3
I have a question! How do magic and monsters work in this AU? There's skulltulas and swords and you said Hyrule knows some magic, which is intriguing!
first off, thank you for such kind words. i appreciate them wholeheartedly and i'm glad you're enjoying the au!
next,
BUCKLE UP CAMPERS, I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE
innate magic is inside everything, but not everything can use it.
wildlife usually has a stronger connection to magic, innate or not. however, due to the many generations of removal among hylian, sheikah, zora, gerudo, rito, and goron populations from magic, this has weakened most's connection to the elements, innate magic, and "unnatural" magic.
a large amount of documentation and accounts of history have been lost to the hands of time and war.
currently, the twili are regarded as fae mythos, along with the kokiri, koroks, deku scrubs, and minish people. having been classified as such for at least a couple of millenniums, there have been many folkstories created around them and the forests.
this is likely due to the innate magic and elements within the national park forests, shrines, and etc. along with possible gateways into the twilight realm.
even though society has advanced in terms of weaponry, technology, and general development, the myths and stories surrounding hylia and the three goddesses remain.
as well as the royal bloodline to some degree. those who possess a connection to hylia, tend to have a stronger sense for magic, even so many generations removed.
the story of the hero and the princess is continually passed down, and has formed numerous celebrations throughout the millenniums, creating festivals and namesakes alike. hence the reason why Link (and Zelda as well), is such a popular name.
even though uncommon, there are still many people with a connection to innate magic (or the general elements) strong enough to wield it.
take hyrule for instance, he's not with the strongest connection to innate magic, but rather to the elements themselves and this allows him to wield magic instead. due to such, he finds healing and mending easier than other, more destructive forms of magic, which tend to take more innate magic stores rather than to draw from the elements around and other's magic.
these days, those with magic are found in positions like healthcare providers, engineers, various public safety workers and etc.
so, magic is housed by everybody and everything. the elements are considered residual, battery-like, aspects of magic, and can be harnessed by anybody with a strong enough connection to them. the same with innate magic. "unnatural magic" is anything man-made or forced into existence.
due to hylian religion not having changed much (apart from encapsulating more people) and the story of the hero and the princess being continued in tale, it's still a large part of hylian culture to train in swordsmanship and take up journeys across the country/kingdom.
most forests, large bodies of water, and areas inhabiting shrines are considered historical land, and have been since turned into national parks whom many visit.
from the general lack of people, wildlife prior to complete colonization has begun to come back and since picked up a steady pace doing so within the past 200 years.
the forest in which camp hyrule is situated in (great hyrule forest) is said to have once housed the deku tree, the master sword, and from which the hero of time was once found.
many fairies still inhabit the area known as the lost woods. it is also known in many stories as a changeling forest, which is likely derived from stories of the kokiri.
at camp, the counselors are trained in general swordsmanship to provide defense against any aggressive wildlife. this is considered legal by the hyrule government since it is self defense of oneself and others. things like skulltulas, wolfos, large bears, takkuri, etc. all inhabit the great hyrule forest natl. park.
the campers are taught general self defense as well (usually by warriors, four, and twilight unless in survivalist classes, where hyrule, wild, and either legend or sky teach such skills pertaining to wildlife rather than in general), but don't carry large weapons around like the counselors do.
asks are still open for now! feel free to send anything in. prompts, questions, doodles, silly things, idm!

Love how the last ask just adds to Sam's objective, scientific look at everything. Oh, you found out you are a Grimwalker? And have no idea what that actually is? Well, folkstories say they are creepy monsters with magenta eyes who are taking up the identity of your loved ones... But don't worry, that's a lot of bullshit, here have my notebooks on this topic with actual reliable sources :)
Sam's lab journal be like
Grimwalker Legend: Grimwalkers are heartless, cruel monsters, who experience no emotion but seething hatred for witchkind
Grimwalker Fact: Grimwalkers will cry if you are mean to them :(
Sam's next project once glyphs stop working is going to be writing the most scientifically accurate book on grimwalkers. He's taking field notes on their natural habits. Yes, his sample size is only his siblings, but that's still more living subjects than any other book has got. Ghost is subject number one, since he can observe them from near infancy and without the scientific error of grimwalkers being pressured into soldier life from an early age.
"Average Grimwalker is made to serve genocidal tyrant factoid actually just statistical error. Average Grimwalker serves zero tyrants. Child Soldier Employer Phillip who created a grimwalker every decade to be a golden guard is an outlier adn should not have been counted."

Finnic Swan Folkstories for Grömky.
Underneath the cut since this is really fucking long. Please no reblogs, this is a messy compilation lol.
Finnic peoples have always considered birds to be sacred. According to folklore, the entire universe was born from bluebill eggs. (The bluebill lays six golden eggs and one iron egg on the knee of Ilmatar. When Ilmatar shifts her knee, the eggs drop in the sea and become the earth, the sky, the stars, and the sun.) The most noble of birds were consecrated as messengers between different worlds. Birds were fortune tellers and "soul birds."
Tumblr media
Map of Finnic peoples (Sometimes referred to as Baltic-Finnic peoples)
The Petroglyphs
The Finnic peoples who made the petroglyphs in Karelia's Äänisjärvi (Onega) have sometimes been called "the waterfowl people."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first petroglyph is called "the swan and the egg." 44% of the petroglyphs in Äänisjärvi (Onega) are of waterfowl and most of them are of swans.
The Swan
The swan was the most sacred of all birds, especially the whooper swan, "laulujoutsen." In Finnish it translates to "song swan." Whooper swan is also Finland's national bird.
Tumblr media
According to Karelian beliefs you shouldn't hurt a swan, and someone who hurt a swan would die soon.
The swan was the bringer of the spring, and as such it was of Godly origins, and so killing a swan was a crime that would lead to death. According to Sortavala folklore the swan was related to humans, and as such couldn't be eaten.
Because the swan has a long neck, it's possible that people thought it could see places where others couldn't. Because it is half submerged and half on the surface, it could look into the land of the dead, which was on the other side of the bottom of the lake according to some beliefs.
In Kalevala
Swans were one connection between Tuonela (the underworld) and this world. The Swan of Tuoni swam in the black river Tuoni in Tuonela. The dead crossing over to Tuonela through the river Tuoni would see this swan watching them from a distance.
Tumblr media
Tuonelan Joutsen (The swan of Tuonela), Akseli Gallen-Kallela 1904-1905
The Story of the Tuoni Swan in Kalevala
The swan is swimming in the dark river of Tuoni. Anyone who tries to shoot the swan will be faced with death.
Lemminkäinen is tasked with shooting the swan of Tuoni. He leaves to shoot the swan, taking his bow and arrows with him. But then, the blind man preys upon him and throws a water snake through him and Lemminkäinen is thrown into the stream. The bloody boy of Tuoni slashes Lemminkäinen to pieces and tells him then to try and shoot the swan in the river.
Later, the mother of Lemminkäinen drags the pieces of his son from the river and brings him to life, though Lemminkäinen does not survive in all the folk stories.

This well known Finnish painting depicts the scene after the mother of Lemminkäinen has dragged the pieces of her son to the shore. You can see the river Tuoni with the swan of Tuoni in the background.
Notes
Kalevala itself is composed of Finnic folk stories.
It's a mixture of Karelian and Finnish folk stories, along with Ingrian and other Finno-Ugric folk stories, so it's not actually just Finnish folklore like people tend to assume.
Elias Lönnrot compiled the Kalevala in 1828–1835 of folk stories around Finland (Ostrobothnia, Finnish-Karelia [pre-war: North Karelia, South Karelia, Ladoga Karelia, Karelian Isthmus], Savonia, Kainuu), White Karelia, Olonet's Karelia, Ingria, and other areas.
Today, there is a prevailing perception that the Kalevala is a mixture of both Western and Eastern poetic traditions.
Tumblr media
Post-war (1944) map of Eastern Finland, the Karelias and Ingria. Pre-war (1917-1944) Ladoga Karelia and the Karelian Isthmus were a part of Finland. Before 1917 Finland was a part of Russia as the autonomous Grand Duchy of Finland.
Lönnrot translated many Karelian poems into Finnish already in the recording situation and edited them into his own work. In that sense, it can be said that there has been cultural appropriation of Karelian poems.
During Lönnrot's time, the concept of "Finnish people" was broader than it is today. It also included Karelian, Ingrian and other Finnic peoples. When Lönnrot was compiling the Kalevala, Finland and the other Finnic areas were under Imperial Russian rule. The Kalevala played an important role in the forming of the written Finnish language and started a phenomenon in Finland called Karelianism that mirrored the national romanticism in Europe, culminating in Finland gaining independence in 1917 after the Russian Revolution.
The Kalevalamitta (the Kalevala meter, folk poetry that uses a form of trochaic tetrameter that leans heavily on alliteration) that the Kalevala is written in is thousands of years old, though on the basis of linguistic and historical grounds, it can only be said that it was born some time b.c.e. as it cannot be dated accurately. Great poetry singers like the White Karelian Arhippa Perttunen (1769-1841) could remember up to 6-10k verses of poems and spells, and the tradition was passed down through these great poetry singers in the communities for thousands of years. It's estimated that about 1/4 of Kalevala's poems come from Arhippa Perttunen. The tradition was already largely dying out when the recording efforts started around 1830 and continued to the 20th century. Around 80 000 verses were recorded, and they are all digitized into a database here.
The use of the Kalevalamitta slowly began to disappear from the area of Finland after the 16th-century reformation, when the Lutheran church banned the song tradition as pagan. Instead, the European style of poetry based on weights and rhymes spread to the area. The Kalevalamitta song tradition first disappeared from Western Finland and later from the rest of the area of Finland. In White Karelia, the Kalevalamitta song tradition was preserved the longest, but it has died out as well around 2017.
Nevertheless, Kalevalamitta poetry is still very present in culture, since common (and ancient) Finnish lullabies "Nuku nuku nurmilintu," and "Tuu tuu tupakkarulla," and children's songs like "Lennä lennä leppäkerttu" all use the Kalevalamitta and are in constant use in Finland.
Wow did u actually read this. Impressive!
So there! This thing is compiled of many (possibly unreliable lmao) sources on Karelian/Finnish/Kalevala folklore regarding swans and it's been hastily put together and translated so <3 and this might be really bad or whatever, I'm no academic.
2/5 of Finnish people have Finnish-Karelian roots due to the war, so a lot of Finnish-Karelian traditions like the Karelian pies are very common throughout Finland, and Kalevala is a big part of Finnish national identity due to a lot of complicated matters. But that's an entire essay of its own. Okay, bye!

I see universal rank and own customs, is it safe to assume the clans have a few roles specific to one clan and such? If so, can we see them all eyes
Hi there, thanks for stopping by!
Part of the reason I took so long to answer is because coming up with Thunderclan’s special rank was giving me a run for my money. I wanted it to be something other than climbing, because that’s Skyclan’s thing. And so far, well, nothing’s really sprung to mind (tho I am open to ideas)
But I do have fun ranks for the other clans I’m quite fond of
Shadowclan - Night-stalkers
Most clan cats live a crepuscular life; most active around morning and evening. Night-stalkers take this to the extreme. They are awake solely during the night, hunting and patrolling while their neighbors sleep. To even be considered for this role a warrior must demonstrate a high amount of stealth and cunning. Both traits are highly respected among Shadowclan cats.
With how dangerous the territory is, they often work in pairs. One keeps an eye out for trouble while the other gathers whatever material is needed. They are also known to leave clan territory, using the cover of darkness as a cloak. Whenever they do leave on these expeditions they are careful to never leave any hint of their presence behind.
In darker times, Night-stalkers were used as assassins against the other clans. It is said these cats could kill someone and sneak away without any sign of them being there. Others could slit your throat so discreetly you would never notice. These duties are, of course, no longer practiced.
Or so Shadowclan claims.
Riverclan - Divers
All Riverclan cats know how to swim, but only a brave few truly conquer the waters. Divers are trained to hold their breath for extended periods of time on a dive. As a result they are able to easily harvest freshwater mussels and specific plants found at the bottom of the river. But this rank isn’t without its dangers. Aside from drowning or getting stolen away by unseen currents, it’s the fish one must worry about. Some catfish can swallow a grown warrior whole without a trace.
Because of these risks, divers are looked to as the best warriors Riverclan has to offer. Powerful enough to defy the river and fortunate enough to escape its wrath. Many of Riverclan’s stories feature a diver as the brave hero.
Riverclan - Bards
If there’s one thing Riverclan loves more than showing off, it’s their folkstories. This rank combines those two aspects into one display. Bards memorize songs passed down countless generations before performing to the crowd. Music is often played alongside the songs, the clan more often than not drumming along. Duets are the favored way to perform, though soloists have plenty of opportunities to cultivate their ego.
This rank tends to be trickier than other clans realize. Not only does it require a beautiful voice, a strong memory is a must. A familiar drumming rhythm can only do so much. Get a single word wrong and your fellow-Bards will not hesitate to derail your performance with laughter. Though it’s all in good fun… so they claim.
Windclan - Runners and Tunnelers
Unlike the other clans, Windclan finds its population split in two. Runners walk the moors above ground, taking advantage of their speed and agility to chase anything down. Meanwhile tunnelers use their intelligence and crafting to construct sprawling tunnels to hunt and patrol in. Sometimes these tunnels stretch into other clans’ territory, allowing them to steal prey undetected.
This divide between ranks is established almost at birth. Runner kits are discouraged from playing will tunneler kits and vice versa. Tunnelers are pressured to find a tunneler mate and ignore runner bachelors. At the most extreme times it feels like there are two clans living in the same camp. For now, things are fairly peaceful between them. But who knows how long this will last.
Because of this divide, two stereotypes have emerged about these moor cats. Runners are known to be tall, leggy, and so fragile-looking you’d think they would blow away in the wind. Tunnelers, on the other paw, are small and stocky with simpler pelt patterns. They are known to be crafty and comparatively dark-humored. Almost like Shadowclanners at times. Of course, they’re likely to slap you senseless if they heard you say that.

Wanna talk about Mylanie?
I always want to talk about Septarsis and Mewni’s best mom💚
Disclaimer: I won’t be talking about hardly anything that Toffee himself doesn’t know. There’s a lot more I can say but I’d rather y’all find out with him her tavern full of secrets
⊹ ੈ♡ — — — — — — — — — — — ₊˚ ‧₊ ๑ ˎˊ˗
Did not grow up in or near Septarsis at all, but not much is known about her early life besides that
She spent most of her teenage years traveling around Mewni and discovering new places. While she was usually independent, she did have a few tagalongs who travelled with her. She’s one of the few individuals who have ever seen every single corner of the dimension. (Yes I absolutely mean the Underworld, The Cloud Kingdom, and the Kingdom of the Waterfolk when I say this. No stone unturned). She got integrated in a lot of culture and so her own sense of culture is incredibly diverse and mixed. She’s got her own thing going on.
During her travels she was introduced to the concept of Septarian “immortality”. Not knowing much about her species at all— only that she ages significantly slow compared to everyone around her and has the ability to regenerate— she totally believed it hook, line, and sinker. (Zarina and Seth had to tell her it was bogus and it was a lie the species kept up as a war strategy. Safe to say Mylanie was thoroughly disappointed 💀)
Ambrose is not her given last name. She changed it herself. It’s partially due to the immortal rumor, but not entirely.
She absolutely has had folksongs written about her due to her travels and reputation as she travelled
Didn’t see Septarsis until she was a teenager first hand, though it was during its dark ages. The Septarian warrior who took her there was her most loyal companion on her journey before they both parted ways. They didn’t meet again until Mylanie had moved to Septarsis permanently and had already joined the Septarian High Council/became friends with Seth and Zarina.
Mylanie met one of her best friends a long time ago, an individual named Koda, and they have long since passed away. That’s all her son knows.
Moved to Septarsis after hearing about the triumphant takedown of the dictator and the instating of an actual society under Seth, who she had already heard folkstories about during her travels
Joined the Septarian High Council to promote her peace agenda. As someone who is so deeply intimate with all of Mewni, she is so strongly against war and all of the fighting that’s gone hot and cold since her hatching.
Has a solid heart of gold. She’s inherently trusting, gentle, kind, loving, affectionate, and the absolute sweetest ball of pure joy and enthusiasm. But mark my words, she is not stupid, naive, or otherwise uneducated. In fact, her love for books, literature, and learning is one of her defining traits. She knows full well how hard peace is going to be to achieve, and she knows it all depends on the right queen and dismantling the system is going to take a long time, but to her the end result is worth it.
We all know this already, but it might as well be emphasized further, she and Seth are just friends and she’s so annoyed by his courting bs
If there’s one thing Mylanie slipped out about her son’s other parent, it’s that the name Torrence was their choosing. She didn’t name her son herself, the name was their idea.
Does it even need to be said that she loves her son to the ends of the earth and would do anything to protect him?
Instilled in her son a love of reading and learning. Prioritized teaching him to train his mind and be an intellectual rather than relying on brute strength. That lesson has stuck with him through his whole life.
Loves and adores children in general. She’s known for having kids following her around and excitedly talking to her. She’s a kid magnet and loves every second of it. The parents on the other hand are less than appreciative that she’s sneaking these kids candy💀
Despite all my talk about how sweet and kind she is, she’s an aggressive debater. Once you get her started she can get so feisty and hot tempered. It kind of intimidates anyone who only sees her as a blissful optimist. She can get fired up and passionate, especially during debates and defensive and confrontational when anyone dares to hurt (physically or emotionally) her sweet baby.
Loves flowers. Loves collecting flowers. Loves making flower crowns and leaf crowns. She just really really really loves flowers and nature stuff. You’ll never catch her without a flower or flower crown in her hair. Even decorates her son’s hair with flowers. Flowers are her thing.
The oddball of Septarsis. While she has a group of people backing up her peace agenda, it doesn’t stop the populous from thinking she’s just a wee bit funny. There’s a reason why I said she was very Bellecore, I literally cannot listen to that opening song without envisioning an animatic of Mylanie. Specifically the opening song.
Extremely physically affectionate. Definitely a hugger. She expresses her love through physical touch— which counteracts her son. He’s incredibly shy and reserved and prefers to keep physical affection private.
When the Solaria situation happened, it was the biggest shakeup of her entire life. It completely challenged her worldview and made her look completely and totally foolish and stupid for her peace advocacy she’d worked tirelessly to try and prove was possible. It devastated her.
Went against all of her beliefs and joined the fight against Solaria, placing her son in the trust of Seth and Zarina. She visited whenever she could but overall missed five years of his life.
Mylanie had a specialized locket made just in case anything were to happen to her so her son would have something to always remember her by. Speaking of…
She uh… She died. She’s dead. No takesbacks. No fakeout. She dead dead. She long gone. Whoopsies?
She’s really just… kind of a Disney Princess… honestly… which is kind of silly… considering her son is a canonical Disney Villain (regardless of his nuance and such and.. yk)
I fully acknowledge how different she is from her son, especially what he eventually became, but trust me… there’s a lot y’all don’t know about her yet. This is only what he knows. She didn’t get to tell him half of what she wanted to tell him because he was so young when she died.
