never seen much analysis of donnie and april and their dynamic and like .... i think they should bond more over their intense feelings of isolation from other people and their blind, desperate desire for outside approval more. april CANNOT actually judge donnie for his dumb decision-making trying to cozy up to the purple dragons when she was doing the exact same thing in hypno part deux 😭😭😭 but i actually imagine that's something they would find a lot of solidarity in

like more appreciation for how april is The Fumblerrrrr when it comes to other people. she tries so, so hard to fit in, to make things work, to fit herself into a shape she doesn't actually fit into, and she always seems to fall a little short. its why she keeps getting fired from jobs, doesn't seem to have many friends, and has criminally low self-esteem despite her unending tenacity. it speaks to a lifetime of feeling like she always falls behind because she's so intense and because she has such a fascination for the weird.

and originally i always saw it as kind of strange that she'd be insecure about not "feeling like she's not one of them" because it wasn't set up properly as an insecurity of hers, but now that i think about it, of course she'd feel that way. she doesn't feel like she fits in with other people, even though she tries, and when she finds other people who are weirdos just like her she doesn't fit in completely with them, either. it might be easy to parallel that kind of feeling with donnie and his soft shell too (+ his autism)

and also like. to draw a parallel more directly

i think them gravitating towards each other makes a lot of sense .... they are neurodivergent girlies who Cannot Mask and they are TRYING but they CAN NOT

and also something to be said about how respectful and careful april seems to be when she's shown working or sucking up to someone that she wants approval from, and the way that donnie repeatedly will swallow down his anger when his family do something that frustrate him (shell in a cell is a very obvious example, but he does it at a point in mind meld and you can argue like a third of witch town is just that before he also becomes The Fumblerrrr-- not to mention how he's swallowed down his reluctance about mystics genuinely all the way up to this point)

AND ALSO they are both shown to kind of lash out at each other and feel frustrated when they feel like the other impedes their goals of social acceptance,,, it would be interesting to take the angle of them kind of accidentally projecting onto each other, and being cruel unintentionally as a result. im just sayinnn

arthur (prince of camelot) still has to study under a tutor bc yknow uther wants him to be very intelligent before becoming king or something bc its super important idk idc anyways merlin is doing chores in his chambers while arthur is squinting at a book and merlin eventually caves and asks him what he’s reading and arthur gruffly explains that its a collection of stories from greece that make absolutely no sense so merlin asks him to read them outloud to him. arthur of course teases him and calls him an idiot and asks how he could possibly help but does as he’s asked and reads the stories to merlin as he does his chores. merlin (being crushed under the weight of destiny and tormented by the prophecies that kilgharrah spews) understands the stories almost immediately and gets all excited and starts rambling about them with arthur. arthur is glad to have someone who understands so he can give something that reflects a hint of understanding to his tutor who accepts it and moves onto the next unit of education.

the thing is, arthur finds more stories in camelot’s library and brings them up to his room to read them aloud to merlin under the guise of completing his studies but really he just wants to watch as merlin’s eyes gleam when he understands whats happening and listen to him ramble on and on about them bc he’s gay. the stories stick with merlin though and he realizes that they’re cautionary tales, that the heroes who were told too much of their future doomed themself to fulfill them - that them fighting the prophecies led to their completion. merlin takes it to heart and gives a big “fuck you” to kilgharrah before forging his own fate and helping morgana with her magic and handing out an olive branch to mordred and now everyone can live happily and peacefully in an albion teeming with magic.

I love thinking about how, back when Jason was still Robin and living at the manor, every now and then—just sometimes—he’d sneak into Bruce’s room after a nightmare looking for quiet comfort. I don’t think he did it often, but he did do it. And then, after he came back—after crawling out of his grave—he still sought that same silent comfort. Like, maybe just some head pats and sleeping in sheets that smelled like his dad… or, well, being next to his dad, right? But obviously, that wasn’t possible. And when the League (Talia) found him, he tried to shake the habit ’cause “Bruce isn’t coming. He’s always late.” Or something like that.

When he got back to Gotham, he still carried that mindset…

And then came the ✨batarang accident✨—I think it shattered him. Had him quietly sobbing for days, nightmares and all that fun trauma stuff.

also, thanks to the chat with @tadpole-apocalypse we had at like.. 3am, my mind's been absolutely infested by thoughts of feral astarion

his vampirism showing its claws when he just.. relaxes and forgets about the need to pretend. when he's just being a lil undead freak. super still. eyes like two beads glimmering in the dark, focused solely on his beloved. on their blood.

no thoughts in his head, just the instinct. to bite and tear and feed. to feel the warmth of the blood against his cool skin, against his tongue. to feel it rush down his esophagus to fill his belly. warm and tasty and full of life.

how he lies awake at night, listening to his lover's heartbeat, focuses on their pulse. how sweet it would be to feel it against his skin. as he wraps his arms around them, the predator instinct kicking in, restraining, holding, suffocating...

how he clings to the last traces of his humanity, but the temptation to give in is always there. and how it goes hand in hand with his insatiable hunger. the gnawing deep within his stomach. the endless pursuit of relief.

and when mal stands at the side of the bed at night, washing her face in the basin of water, her back turned against him.. astarion watches her naked form in the dark. her skin seems so pale against the darkness of the room. except for a little line, a black snake slithering its way down her inner thigh. she's unaware of it just yet, but astarion? it's all that exists in that moment. the smell, the sight, the temptation of her moonblood... the unexpected reminder of that sweet blood that she's full of. the blood he could spill and release and bathe him. how all it would take is one pounce. catching her unawares. he could tear her neck right open, just this one time. a prize he's been denied for so so long. or maybe he could wait? let her drift back into slumber, right next to him. watch the calm rise and fall of her chest before he brings his fangs to her throat. maybe she wouldn't even wake..

I’ve been thinking abt a fragile reader who likes stealing parts of the segment’s outfits when they’re bored 🤩

Omega might struggle to find his mask one day, only to find you standing in front of a mirror, his mask on your face, proudly puffing out your chest and mocking his arrogant tone. He doesn’t interrupt, but watches, amused by your antics.

Maybe Beta will be scrounging around for his bow tie, muttering angrily, until he notices you sitting nearby, adjusting the fabric around your neck. You don’t see it, but he flashes an adoring smile your way 🥰

All of your lovers had a great variety of clothes and stylistic choices spread across them. It would frequently send you into laughter when you saw someone like Beta standing next to Omega, but you truly did love them all the more for their eccentric choices. More importantly, there was no way you could pass up the opportunity to "borrow" such fashionable clothes! Seeing as Dottore and the segments were frequently busy, their clothes were a perfect source of comfort whenever you were bored or missing them, their warmth and lingering scent still remaining.

Omega's blue shirt, white coat, and gloves were the easiest articles to put on - if you spent time trying to put on all those other accessories, you'd tire yourself out before you even began. You had to hold the mask up to your face too, since it was too big to lock in behind your ears properly, and you couldn't even see, but it didn't matter since you had literally become the Doctor in that instance.

"I am first and foremost a scholar. As a scholar, I respect all possibilities." You quoted those lines that Omega loved to parrot and tried to match the level of his sassy scholarness, but unfortunately, you couldn't compare. Your evil laugh didn't even have that oomph to it either...

Little did you know that the segment himself was taking in the sight with amusement. Putting aside your questionable dialogue (which he would get you back for later), he admired how alluring you looked in his clothes. Ah, how wonderful it would be if he could return to you in only his clothes more often. Therefore, he was content to let you embarrass yourself for a while longer before he succumbed to his urge to touch you. You didn't even realize Omega was approaching until you felt a hand quickly turn your chin and guide your lips to his.

"While I find your problem-solving to be most entertaining, if you wanted to be closer to me, I have much better solutions in mind."

Beta's clothes, on the other hand, were much simpler to put on. The button-down white shirt was easy to toss on, and his coat was long and surprisingly soft. It would make a good blanket, you thought. Trying to make your eyes line up with the holes of Beta's mask was a chore, so you had discarded it to the side. But what really brought the whole thing together was the iconic pink bow tie, of course.

"He he ho ho." No, that just sounded wrong coming from you. "This bores me," you drawled, imagining the scurrying of some of his menials after the Harbinger lost interest in his latest project, all while perfecting your tug of the bow tie.

Beta's previous grumpiness is forgotten and replaced by his usual blank stare, where he takes in what he's watching while collecting his thoughts. It doesn't take long for him to break into laughter, which makes you practically jump in your seat. If anything, the segment would appreciate it if you could take control of his agents for a day. Perhaps you'd be more suited to the job than he is...

"If you really have nothing better to do, then come with me to my lab. ... No, I didn't say for you to take those off."
