Day 157: Bocchi The Naval Cannon

In my experience a game that makes you upset or angry is not something you want to play or think about when you aren't playing it. I had this experience with From the Depths, a ship/vehicle building game.

As soon as building these things started becoming a pain and stopped being rewarding, I knew it was over. Maybe it's just ADHD, and maybe I am a quitter, but I'm not going to subject myself to something that pisses me off for no reason other than to fill time that I really don't have any business trying to fill.

You can call me soft, too. I also got angry while playing TF2 (several times) and decided that it was best if I just stopped playing the game. Project Zomboid, Payday 2, all things that I've stopped playing because they made me upset.

I don't play games to get angry, I play them to forget that I'm going to die. I play them to experience things that make my life a little bit better. And getting pissed off is not better.

I love dwarf fortress. Play dwarf fortress.

Being creative, with intreats, while on social media is horrible because I'll just be watching YT, looking for some background noise while I play games, and then auto play will send my into a rabbit hole of military tech that I'll come out of with the inspiration to design a new missle based CIWS system in From The Depths, only for me to lose motivation when finding targets to test on, only to go back to YT and get inspired again, and yet I still can't test it.

Actually Finished Boat

Steamer I made for @mouzeinsoup. Works with big paddles and has some big guns too. Not really good in terms of function but the style points make it worth every bit.

This semester of uni has felt harder than all the other's before them. I've doubted by skills and intellect for the past 8 weeks, which has been fucking stressful to say the least.

On another note, I somehow managed to both start and finish an entire essay today. Wtf is this?? I felt like I've been drowning all semester but somehow have pulled a half descent essay out of my ass in 8hrs today??

In other news, the state of Australian and American politics is causing sleepless nights and an abundance of stress that is probably not helping my study capacity. But I (if I was one to do so) pray that Australia is smart enough to not vote for Peter Dutton (collectively known as Temu Trump) in the upcoming elections. Until then, I will probably continue to spam everyone on my Insta and Facebook feeds with how this will crimple our economy, set human rights back 50 years and aggressively suggest that if they vote for Dutton or Palmer, I will no longer consider them decent people ✌🏻

Can you review From The Depths? It's a pretty easy to learn and simple to understand game about making a boat! You should complete the campaign before you make your review :)

I like boats!! Sometimes I make boats out of wood and push them down a stream! That sounds like soooo much fun I'll play that when I can!

from the depths is so fun until I remember my middle mouse button is broken. I love doing APS tetris manually.

So JoCat is back, and one of the reason's they said they came back, is because they, as an artist, get the same kind of discomfort from not creating/sharing art as you get when you havnt showered in a few days. And as someone who has put a few hundred hours into messing about with pixel art, several hundred hours into cultivating an architectural style in minecraft that works well with both a restricted block selection and biome specific material, and we'll over 1 thousand hours into FTD basically just doing naval architecture, i can 100% relate to this.

Sorry for not posting yesterday. In exchange for the lack of ships, you guys get 2 ships. This first one wasn't finished because the engines weren't powerful enough to supply the 3 particle cannons consistently.

This other ship was finished, and it's just a smaller, more annoying version of the concept of a ship with Particle Accelerator Cannons. This thing was very complicated to build, with the thrust vectoring being the most painful part to execute by far. Was worth it for the lack of control surfaces though!

In another universe my teacher actually keeps a good record of dates and what work we have done. But in this universe he's terrible at it, but an absolute angel if you forget
