The evergreen shrub Monstera deliciosa (Swiss cheese plant, custard plant, fruit salad plant, Indian ivy, Mexican breadfruit) climbs using aerial roots. This is a commonly grown houseplant with heart-shaped, pinnatisect and often perforated, glossy deep green leaves and there is a variegated form, Monstera deliciosa 'Variegata'.

Asian-Inspired Kale and Mandarin Orange Salad

This vibrant salad combines the earthy flavor of kale with the sweetness of mandarin oranges, creating a perfect balance of taste and nutrition.

Prep Time: 20 minutes Total Time: 20 minutes Servings: 4

Ingredients:

4 cups chopped kale, stems removed

1 11-oz can mandarin oranges, drained

1/4 cup sliced almonds

1/4 cup chopped red bell pepper

1/4 cup shredded carrots

1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds

2 tablespoons rice vinegar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon honey

1 teaspoon soy sauce

1 teaspoon grated ginger

Instructions:

Massage the kale with a pinch of salt for about 1 minute to soften it.

Add mandarin oranges, almonds, red bell pepper, carrots, and sesame seeds to the kale.

In a small bowl, whisk together rice vinegar, sesame oil, honey, soy sauce, and ginger.

Drizzle the dressing over the salad and toss to coat evenly.

If I were the last surviving member of a failed expedition in the arctic I wouldn't choose to keep living there. Like, one main factor of doom was that there weren't plants around and after all that suffering you choose to keep living without leaves in your life? without fruits? without apples and oranges and peaches and berries? without vegetables? I can never make up my mind about magentaspreen. The leaves are magical. How many plants shed sparkling pink glitter all over your salad? It's dead easy to grow, self seeds rampantly, seems invulnerable to pests, and provides homes for adorable flower spiders.

The only problem is, I find the taste meh, and even one plant produces far more leaves than my family will consume - let alone the dozen or so that I can't bring myself to pull up. It takes up a lot of room, and when it gets big and prominent, the pink seems to fade, leaving it plain and weedy looking. Like this:

🍋- oooh okay so specifically for jegulus i love it when james has like a tattoo (thigh is my personal favourite) and reg sees it and instantly wants to bite his leg. or maybe he DOES. and then he’s thinking about that tattoo all the fucking time. sucker for that.

🍇- a particular scene i love is when a diary has shit like ‘i love X’ and X reads it and is like ‘oh fuck’ and then there’s that whole scene i just adore it. want to write more of them forever and ever and ever.
