Honestly it’s really funny how marvel set up civil war to be this huge event that would change the mcu forever only for it to……..have almost no impact?? the accords were basically forgotten except for ant-man and the wasp i think. but most heroes were still running around doing their thing with no prior permission from de UN. They also faced no consequences for either breaking the accords or not signing it at all. I mean Peter got to swing around one of the biggest cities in the world while keeping his secret identity even though one of the biggest points of the accords was registration. Hologram Ross barely tried to fight Steve and co. in infinity war although he was like the biggest advocate for the accords. T’Challa had a whole car chase in Asia with Nakia and Okoye. Tony broke the accords in the same movie he tried to force everyone to sign it. and then in every scene he appears on ever since. Marvel was so adamant about doing civil war and for what?? They couldn’t handle a proper discussion about human rights violations or world politics so they just scrapped that and focused on alien and loud colors instead. They just can’t handle things that are more grounded so I don’t know why civil war happened. We could have an actual conclusion to the cap trilogy but outdoing batman x superman even though they weren’t qualified was more important i guess
anon you hit the nail on the fucking head
civil war was dumb and always will be and the fact it was to try and beat out batman vs superman... i will NEVER not laugh. like imagine fucking up your movie like that for no reason? no disrespect to the dceu you do what you want but BvS didn’t even come close to any mcu movie at the time like why was feige so threatened?
i can’t stand rdj’s ass i swear to god can you imagine if the roles were reversed? if they said “okay we’re gonna make iron man 3 but cap and the other avengers are gonna be in it because cevans wants the same amount of screen time in your final movie, okay?” there would have been UPROAR! he would’ve done a terrence howard or some next bullshit. he’s so dramatic for NO reason and really thinks he’s the backbone of the mcu when he isn’t even tall enough to be the backbone of his own trilogy
as for the accords... i forget they exist. it was really stupid that all of team tony got off lightly after the airport battle when they are the ones that caused the most damage. vision paralysed rhodey and he just got off with no repercussions. sam got the blame. peter got blackmailed into being on team tony when all of his morals and ideals would easily put him on team cap. tony straight up tried to kill bucky many many times. everything is a mess and only team cap got faced with the consequences - all they tried to do was stop zemo and stop an influx of more winter soldiers. like? imagine if they hadn’t... ross sure as hell would’ve changed his mind about them then, wouldn’t he?
i’m glad they are a distant memory tbh because the fall out was just a shambles and wasn’t given the correct coverage it should’ve been in order to be a meaningful and purposeful plot. like mentioning it for 2 minutes in every movie is dumb as hell. it’s supposed to have been the biggest major event in the history of the avengers and their politics before thanos but it’s treated like fucking nothing lol. it’s stupid as hell! obviously the introduction of thanos wasn’t meant to be after all these major events calmed down, but they didn’t even do any of their storylines justice before they introduced him which just led to more stupid scenes in infinity war and endgame (see tony shouting at steve about them losing, yet another terrible improvisation from rdj. get your head out of your ass please fucko). serpent society you will be mourned and missed for the rest of time
anyway the only good parts about civil war are steve, bucky, rhodey, scott, sam, t’challa, zemo and the five minutes of aunt may <3 everyone else can gtfo

Headcanons for being an Avenger with the power of persuasion
Avengers x reader
warnings:
a/n: towards the end this branches off into the fatws timeline but there’s no explicit spoilers
prompt: anonymous: “Can you do hcs for the avengers with a reader who has powers like Allison Hargreeves from The Umbrella Academy?”
Tumblr media
the avengers were a little iffy about you because......someone with your power was hard to trust at first
“mind control isn’t as fun as it sounds, you guys. i really don’t wanna keep my guard up at all times when i’m at home base” -clint
“yeah, i’m not sure if i trust this one yet. i mean, i’m totally immune to mind control, but what if they mind control someone to come after me? and they have easy access to the place?” -tony
“excuse me, did you just say you were immune to mind control?” -nat
“he most certainly is not” -wanda
i mean, you get it and all. you heard stories of the avengers’ past encounters. it couldve messed them up
and they had no character references for you
you were new and mysterious
and your powers could be dangerous if you used them the wrong way
“well, i say we take a chance on them. they might surprise us” -cap
“i knew you would say some crap like that” -tony
“i thought a surprise was the opposite of what we wanted?” -bruce
you were put on the team soon after, but you had to have a buddy on missions
*pretending that we have deaf/hoh!clint like in the comics* you were buddied up with clint since your powers were auditory
“you can’t sign me an involuntary command, can you?” -clint
“no, sir” -you
“cool, cool, cool” -clint
stealth looked good on you, ngl
you were able to get behind heavy gunmen and whisper commands to them
“simon says you are an avenger now, shoot the enemy” -you
“simon says i am your new boss, take out your ex-coworkers” -you
“simon says give me your keycard” -you
“simon says i’m not the enemy, you are” -you
“not bad down there, y/n!” -sam
“thanks! now can somebody give me a lift to that one all the way up there?” -you
you proved yourself that day, so everyone got a lot more comfortable with you
and you made a promise that day that you’d never use your powers on them
but occasionally someone would ask you a simple favor, like putting them to sleep or making them focus on a project
“i think the focus one could be a fire hazard” -you
“so just come and get me! or let me die, that’d be fine, too” -tony
“whatever...simon says focus on the new tech” -you
time went by and things got tough, especially when the sokovia accords rolled in
“i wasn’t even there for that, mr. secretary” -you
“and i’m aware of that, mx. l/n, but you still pose a threat to people around the world. you have the means to walk into any place you want and do anything you want. you can see how that makes people uneasy, don’t you?” -ross
“i’ve never used my abilities for anything but good” -you
“what y/n is trying to say is—” -steve
“he knows what i’m trying to say, but apparently that’s the issue” -you
you were “grounded” with wanda
and pretty pissed about it
“i can understand why i’m here, y/n, but you? what did you do?” -wanda
“i intimidate men in charge, i guess” -you
sounds about right, huh?
but clint broke you out
“finallyyyyy! vision is such a drag” -you
and when you got to germany, you were conflicted with yourself
should you use your powers on the teammates who wanted you locked away?
if you got into their comms, you could stop it in an instant
but that’d take some time
“hi, simon(e)! i’m, uh, scott! i think you’re pretty neat!” -scott (p.s. y/n’s hero name is simon/simone. whatever you prefer idrc)
“thanks...and what do you do?” -you
“he shrinks!” -sam
you snuck out to the pavement and tried to hack their comms, but could only do it one at a time
so you got the spider kid
“simon says stick the cat man to the side of the plane” -you
but that cat had claws
alright, it might be harder than you think
“oh god, simon(e)?” -scott
“what is it?” -you
“i’m a little nervous for my next trick...would it be too much to ask if you did your little command thing for me?” -scott
“ughhhhh...simon says, go on with your ‘trick’” -you
and all the sudden he shot up into the air
“oh, nice” -you
you really hated fighting with these guys, but you were out of options and now cap wanted you to come with him, he wouldn’t leave without you
“steve, i’m sorry. simon says leave without us” -you
and that he did, which left you to be caught by a hair
“so close, weren’t you?” -tony
“simon says go to hell” -you
“very funny, guess i’m immune to mind control, after all” -tony
having a mouth restraint place on you that tony had been saving ever since you joined the team
one that “team cap” heavily protested the second they saw it
“tony, that’s wrong! don’t you trust them enough not to do that? they’re going to hate you after all of this” -wanda
“it’s either me or them. at least mine is comfortable” -tony
kinda fucked lol but understandable ig
having to testify without a voice, only able to type or write
but eventually you made your case and were able to make a deal, but part of that deal was to keep your mouth sealed when in the presence of authority since your voice was deemed a weapon ;)
kinda a dick move if you ask me
so you said fuck that and became a fugitive with steve + friends
but used your powers less and less
again, only for favors because it was hard to get peace in these crappy motels
“simon says kill that roach, oh god” -you @ steve
“you were an avenger and you can’t kill a roach?” -sam
“don’t start with me, sam, or you’re sleeping on the floor” -you
“you wouldn’t” -sam
“don’t test me” -you
waiting and waiting for some kind of turning point that didnt come until alien invasion 2.0
and you tried so hard to stop thanos from snapping, but the stones got the best of you as you were frozen in time
but fortunately you didn’t dust
leaving you to get a rematch against thanos when the time would come
and reuniting with tony just for him to lecture you with the rest of the team
“go fuck yourself, tony” -you
“oh, thank god they didn’t say ‘simon says’” -that raccoon you’ve known for like 3 weeks
“do you ever shut up?” -you
“no, he does not” -nebula
anyways your time did not come and you waited five years for another chance
and although you did not redeem yourself on your own, you were just glad that your side, humanity, had won
but just before thanos had ceased to exist, you told him
“simon says to feel the pain of loss for all of eternity” -you
it may have been cruel, but it’s what he deserved
the next step was for you and sam to be pardoned of your crimes
but you didn’t exactly part ways just because...what else was there for you to do? the two of you were close after your time on the run
and all was well until he decided to give the shield up
“oh, bucky’s gonna be pissed” -you
“he’ll be fine” -sam
now, bucky had mixed feelings about you
he was nervous about your powers, but you did save him
and he knew what it felt like not to be trusted
so he gave you a chance and partnered with you after the “new captain america” and the “flag smashers” fiasco
legally, if you used your powers on a government official/soldier you’d go back in the slammer, but it was quite tempting, even if it were just a “simon says punch yourself in the face”
and off to madripoor you went with...zemo
“are you going to persuade me into something petty, mx. l/n?” -zemo
“i’ve gotta make it worth it, honestly, but there’s no rule against me doing so, so at least i won’t feel bad” -you
and who knows what’s next?

headcanons for being the youngest maximoff (part two)
pairings: maximoff twins x sibling!gn!reader && avengers x gn!reader
warnings: spoilers for infinity war + endgame, death, non-descriptive violence, idk
author’s note: IM SO SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG TO COME OUT AAAAAAAA it was supposed to be up a while ago but things got in the way and im so sorry :(

headcanons under the cut !
so
after steve broke everyone out of the raft you were all on the run for a while
vision and natasha joined you all at some point, and scott and clint returned home to their families
after a while wanda and vision decided to stay in scotland, leaving you with sam, nat, and steve
you were not a huge fan of the idea of leaving her behind
you had already lost your parents and pietro and even though she wasn’t dead you still wouldn’t be able to see her
but you knew why she did what she did
fast forward a little bit
you find out that tony went missing
and then that wanda and vision are being attacked
so u all fly to scotland to help them
*insert u being a badass and beating the shit out of an alien*
finally reuniting w your sister
there were tears
when you arrived back at the compound it was like a breath of fresh air after so long
it’s a shame you weren’t there under better circumstances
immediately getting upset when you saw the hologram of ross
that motherfucker
anyways
going to wakanda was an.... interesting experience
you wanted to enjoy it
but considering why you were there,,,,,,
it was kinda hard to enjoy it lol
wanda ofc stayed up in the lab with vision and shuri
she wanted you to stay up there as well so she could keep an eye on you
she was very hesitant to let you go into the front lines of the battle
even though you were an adult now you were still her little sibling and she was worried for you
you assured her that you would be fine though
fine might be pushing it but
let’s be realistic here
you kicked some alien ass down there
taking out enemy after enemy with no hesitation
pretty impressive tbh. ur fucking awesome
ily
anyways
eventually wanda came down to join the battle
the two of you fought alongside each other
badass sibling duo ugh yes
but then
you had to go against thanos himself
ugly ass mf
you tried to use your magic to remove his gauntlet
you were unsuccessful
he kinda tossed you to the side like a rag doll
which hurt like a bitch
when he snapped you had no idea what tf to do
i mean you had just lost, what were you supposed to do?
you were in the middle of crawling over to wanda, wanting to try to comfort her over the loss of vision
but then she just kinda, disintegrated?
you were in shock for a minute
but then it hit you
“no, no, no, no, no...”
you started sobbing
now you had officially lost your whole family
after a little bit you made your way over to what was left of the team
you all kinda stood in silence for a little while, just processing everything that had happened
eventually you all returned to the quinjet and flew back home
for the first two-ish weeks after the snap you just locked yourself in your room and refused to leave
though eventually you did leave your room again, though very reluctantly
after three weeks had passed by carol, who you were quite fascinated by, returned to the compound carrying a spaceship with her
turns out tony was on said ship
you were glad to see him after so long
and now we jump to going to space to beat thanos’ ass (a g a i n)
you had never been to space before so it was quite a new experience
shame it was under such poor circumstances
when you arrived at thanos’ residence you were out for blood
he took your last remaining family and you were not in the mood to let him get away with it
and then you found out the stones were gone
and everything he had done couldn’t or so you thought be reversed
you were already ready to kill thanos before, but especially now that that was revealed
sadly though, thor took the responsibility of killing the titan himself
*5 years later*
you were 23 now
a whole ass adult
you still lived at the compound with natasha, not exactly having anywhere else to go
not like you would’ve left anyways but
nat had become your sort of support system over the last few years
after all, at this point you really only had each other
all of the rest of the remaining team went their separate ways, none of which deciding to stay with the two of you
one day though steve comes by
you were glad to see him, you had missed him a lot since he left
the three of you had a not-so-positive conversation and then out of nowhere scott appears at the front gate
he tells you his insane idea of using the quantum realm to time travel back to before thanos
you were very wary
you didn’t exactly have a lot of knowledge on the quantum realm but you could still tell that it seemed risky
the four of you went to tony’s house to try to convince him
he almost immediately said no
yikes
you all tried to convince him but to no avail
so you went to bruce hulk instead
bruce?? hulk?? who tf is he tbh
but anywho
when you saw him you were kinda like ????????
but chose to ignore it
you got him to agree to the time travel thing
and it was ?somewhat? successful
somewhat is pushing it tbh
scott became a baby which wasn’t great
but then tony showed up and fixed it like the genius he is
you helped recruit all the remaining avengers to help w the whole time travel thing
you were going to go back in time and get the stones before thanos could
you went with clint and natasha to vormir
you thought it made the most sense for you to sacrifice yourself
after all you weren’t even positive this whole thing with the stones would work, and you couldn’t risk continuing to live a life without wanda and the rest of the team
they stopped you before you could jump though
when natasha dropped you swore your heart stopped beating
she had been all you had for the past 5 years and then she was just gone
you ended up getting the soul stone but at what cost
you and clint returned to the compound and there was a small ‘memorial’ (for lack of a better word) for natasha
after that tony put all of the stones together into a makeshift gauntlet
after a little bit of deliberation it was decided that bruce would be the one to snap his fingers
bruce, hulk, whatever tf
brulk
LMFAO
sorry back to the headcanons LOL
he snapped
immediately everything felt different
you went out to look out a window, seeing a few butterflies fluttering around that you knew weren’t there before
a smile immediately took over ur face
“hey guys, i think it worked!” - you
you were about to turn around and walk back to everyone else
but then
you saw a large ship in the distance
and something began flying toward the compound
and then everything went dark
when you woke up again you were buried under a bunch of rubble
which bruce picked up off of you
you ran out to where thor, tony, and steve were
you saw thanos and froze
they were engaged in a battle and you tried to keep your distance in order to collect yourself for a moment
which proved to be futile because you were dragged into the fight not long after
you kinda got your ass handed to you
it wasn’t pretty
you were lying on the ground when all of a sudden you saw orange light surrounding you
you looked up to see portals opening, all your allies who you had thought to be dead stepping out
you saw wanda and you stopped breathing for a moment
you got up as quick as you could
which proved to be difficult due to ur injuries and overall extreme fatigue
you launched yourself at her, bringing her into the tightest hug you could muster
the two of you held onto each other for a moment before you had to return to fighting
maximoff sibling teamup part 2???? yeah most definitely
fast forward to after thanos and his bitch ass army lost (im sorry i just really dont have the energy to write all that rn)
and to after tony’s funeral
you and wanda had a l o t of catching up to do
like
5 years worth LOL
u had to comfort her over vision’s death a lot
considering that to her, that was still only a couple days ago
and a lot of the time when you two talked the mood was kinda depressing, all things considered
but you still tried to keep it lighthearted
for example
your absolute favorite thing in the world was the fact that you were now older than her due to the snap, 3 years older to be exact
you held it over her all the time, constantly making fun of her for it
all in good fun of course
something wanda really loved was when you would tell her stories from when she was in the soul world (only happy ones ofc)
though it made her sad that you had to go so long without her, and she missed out on so much
she wanted to know what she had missed
all in all
you two were incredibly close, the snap and its aftermath only further confirming that
sibling goals tbh
a/n #2: aaaaaa im sorry to end it on that note (i didnt know how to end it im sorry asf) but yeah </3 and once again, so sorry this took me so long to post, ive been super busy with school && life in general so i just havent gotten around to it :( butttttttttttt if u guys want i could try to continue this series of headcanons for wandavision?? i’d wait until friday ofc for the final episode and id spoiler tag it and everything but i could try my best? might be kinda difficult but i think it could be fun so if anyone wants that then lmk!! :)

Captain America: Civil War - My Thoughts
I know this is like 5 years late but for this, I’d like to resurrect a barely dead discourse that succeeded in not just dividing the Avengers but also dividing the fandom. Before we start, content warning for spoilers and let’s dive into this mess.
So, basically, the entire conflict of civil war stemmed from General Thaddeus Ross (who is a hypocritical dick, btw) coming to lecture the Avengers on being destructive despite conducting destructive experiments (ahem, the Abomination and the Hulk) but I digress. Then, Ross presents the Sokovian Accords which is really lengthy and we see Steve reading like a few chapters(?). Now, let us note that the Accords were presented to the Avengers after a mission-gone-wrong killed about 11 people in Lagos (lay-gos, not lah-gos that pronunciation gave me headaches as a Nigerian).
So, the Sokovian Accords were written by 117 countries and vetted by the UN asking for the Avengers to be under oversight (which SHIELD would have done if HYDRA hadn’t infiltrated it in the first place but it is what it is). Somehow, Steve made it about “our right to choose” (how?! Cause I’m not understanding) and decided to not sign*.
*he later got back to sign, then backed out when he learnt that Tony had placed Wanda under house arrest (even though it was for her protection. I do believe Tony should have fully informed Wanda about keeping her in the Avengers’ Tower)
My issues with the plot of Civil War are:
1. The Sokovian Accords were not read out loud or placed on some kind of PowerPoint slide for the audience to understand why Team Cap is against the Accords. No, the fandom wiki is not a source because that one is from Agents of SHIELD and not a lot of MCU fans are familiar with that show (yours sincerely included). Assuming the contents were read out loud or discussed by the Avengers, I’d have understood why Team Cap refused to sign the accords but since none of that was given, I’d remain Team Iron Man for this one.
2. The Sokovian Accords is not the American Constitution. Then again, the MCU fandom tends to be American-centric and most Americans seem to have this belief that the world revolves around them (and it manifests itself in Civil War discourse).
3. Contrary to popular opinion, the Sokovian Accords were about 117 (mostly third-world) countries asserting their sovereignty and boundaries, not taking away rights from the Avengers. If we go by what the MCU wiki claims about the accords, yes, some parts are absurd (like asking for blood samples and using trackers, why are those necessary?). However, when 117 countries state that they want you to respect their boundaries, I think it is best to comply. Unfortunately, respecting boundaries is one thing the USA has a problem complying with and guess who happens to represent America?
4. The Accords affected only their hero lives, not their lives as a civilian. I doubt the UN would limit the Avengers’ movements as civilians
5. Let us not forget how Steve and Clint protect Wanda from accountability and responsibility. Wanda in the MCU is like y/n in many fanfics where everyone (except for the “big bad villain” who in this case is Tony and 117 countries) seems to love her and want to protect her from facing the consequences of her actions. Anyone *ahem Tony* who has a bit of problem with her is suddenly the enemy. Not to mention how Wanda seems to have a knack for causing destruction in African countries (Johannesburg, Lagos, Wakanda)
6. And fandom behaviour from the Team Cap stans
7. Also, why is Civil War not an Avengers part 3? It’s better than making it a Captain America trilogy and then trying to frame Steve as being right.
8. I do believe that the accords were sped up which left little time for the Avengers to discuss and compromise on certain issues. If they were given more time to discuss, compromise and negotiate, I think the movie would have ended better than it had.
9. In addition, I also agree with Team Cap stans on how the UN arbitrarily deciding to shoot Bucky on sight is a human right violation.
10. “The safest hands are our own” why does this sound like a white saviour talk point from Steve? The accords is about 117 countries wanting you to respect their boundaries and the best you can come up with to refute that is saying something a white saviour would say?
11. “Even if the whole world is telling you to move...” just shut the fuck up, this is no way comparable to 117 countries trying to assert their sovereignty.
12. Look if I have to choose between surrendering a few rights as a hero and just dismissing that of civilians as potential damage, I’d go with the former because the people whom I’m suppose to protect come first. For me to dismiss their deaths as “we can’t save em all” is just not it.
13. “She’s just a kid”, a few years later and I still hate that term. One, it’s infantilizing an adult white woman (something white men have historically done and we all know how that went) . Two, while Tony was obviously wrong for not informing Wanda about her house arrest, he was right to keep her in the Tower when they were people who would harm her with every chance they could find. **
** after watching WandaVision, some people might find every reason to want to harm her.
14. Let us also discuss the motivation of those in Team Iron Man vs Team Cap
Team Iron Man
Tony: feels guilty for the events of Age of Ultron, believes that he’s stepped out of line and the Avengers need oversight.
Natasha: believes that the Avengers should listen to the public and the UN after all, if they had one hand on the wheel, they can still steer.
Vision: believes that the Avengers as a whole bring challenge which brings conflict and then catastrophe.
Rhodey: a soldier; believes in following orders especially when it is from the UN and 117 countries.
T’Challa: dude is just there to kill Bucky. I’m sure if Bucky was on team Ironman, my guy would have joined team cap, lmao 😂.
Spider-Man: not really there for a reason except to bring in Steve to Ross. I do agree that Tony shouldn’t have dragged him to the fight without Peter making an informed decision.
Team Cap
Steve: didn’t want to sign because it takes away his “right to choose”. Idk what that means or how it is relevant to the Sokovian Accords but okay. However, I understand his mistrust considering a few movies ago, we found out HYDRA had infiltrated SHIELD and as much as I believe governments are corrupt and the UN is shit, you cannot just enter a country anyhow without warning ahead of time.
Bucky: was his motivation given? I mean, I believe he joined Steve’s side to stop Zeno from unleashing the other winter soldiers. Not that that’s a bad reason, it isn’t.
Sam: again, I don’t think the movie gave us a reason for him being against the Accords. Did he also believe it was taking away his “right to choose”?
Wanda: undecided as of moment of discussion. Joined team cap because Tony placed her on house arrest. While I agree that Tony should have informed her that he was putting her under house arrest and stated the reasons why, I believe it was for good reasons especially when some people might decide to carry out witch hunts (you get it, witch hunts? 😅)
Clint: only joined because Wanda was placed under house arrest. We aren’t given any reason why he would oppose the Accords.
Scott: fan boy of Captain America, need I say more?
15. Also, to Team Cap stans blaming Tony Stark for Team Cap being imprisoned, grow the fuck up. The people in Team Cap are all adults who made their own decisions yet Tony is to blame for them breaking the law (because they did break the law), wtf.
16. “Are you capable of letting go of your ego for one damn second?” Like Steve’s ego didn’t play a part in all this too, lmao.
17. Okay, the final battle was intense and while I believe Bucky was also a victim, I can understand why Tony lashed out at him. The one to blame here is Steve because even if he had no clue Bucky was responsible for the Starks’ death, he still lied to Tony by not telling him who was responsible. It is more appalling to learn that Steve, in an attempt to “protect Tony and Bucky”, was actually covering for HYDRA!
Also, the way Steve stood emotionless while Tony watched a footage of his parents being killed. Yet, he could shield Wanda from watching the news because of how it affected her, okay.
“I can do this all day”, fuck you, Steve
18. Clint exploding at Tony is so fucking hilarious. Tony is right, Clint has a family yet he decided to fight in a war that didn’t concern him. Also, his comments about breaking backs is so tone deaf after Rhodey just broke his back!
19. If Sam was Captain America, I think Civil War wouldn’t have happened at all, from the dialogue in the Raft.
20. Overall, this movie is a fucking mess and I hate it for dividing both the Avengers and MCU fans.
Before I close with this, I want to add that I am not anti-Steve but Civil War really made me hate him. I get, Steve is supposed to be a Boy Scout and shit like that, but he’s a Gary Stu in the MCU, let’s be honest about it. Civil War should have been an Avengers movie, rather than a part of the Captain America trilogy. The Avengers should have been given more time than three days to discuss the Accords and make necessary amendments; after all that went down in Lagos, Wanda should have been made to sit out missions and maybe we could have had someone like Doctor Strange help in training her; Crossbones would have made a great villain but it is what it is; Peter’s introduction to the MCU could have been as him actually interning for the Stark Industries and forming a kind of acquaintance with Tony Stark before Tony finds out that he’s Spider-Man; Steve should have told Tony about HYDRA‘s hands in his parents’ deaths. Anyway, I’ll go read Civil War fix-it fanfics and fanfics where the Avengers are more like family. Fuck Civil War and I’m outta here.
Edit: okay this was a thought I had when I was trying to sleep but it was too good to ignore. Rhodey has a point about Steve arrogance (if that’s the correct term) in saying “the safest hands are our own” and here’s why:
Like he stated “this is not the World Security Council...neither is this SHIELD nor HYDRA” (paraphrased). This is the UN as well as 117 countries. Look, I am as anti-government as one can go and I don’t believe that the UN are reliable (plus, if we really want to go by the AoS version of the Accords, the Accords are flawed and they need amendments), however, given the US records on disrespecting boundaries in many third world countries, I can understand why 117 countries are wary about a bunch of superpowered Americans entering their country.
To us, the Avengers are saving the world. To these 117 countries and the people who have families who were killed in the crossfire (Zemo is a good example), the Avengers are a bunch of nuisances who leave destruction wherever they tread.
I am still neutral on the whole Accords as I don’t know exactly what it entails but for Steve to go “we are surrendering our rights to choose” (again, how is the Accords threatening the Avengers’ right to choose?) when asked to be under oversight is tone deaf.

Divided We Fall
Pairing: Steve Rogers x Reader
Words: ~2.7k
Summary: In which she feels torn between the man she’s grown to love, whose ideas she agrees with, and her mentor and brother figure - who took her in with open arms and always accepted her when nobody else could.
Warnings: mentions of violence, angst, soft steve as always. you know the drill
A/N: tony’s your sort-of older brother (he took you in to train you not long before howard and maria passed), and you’re around steve’s age? I think? idk. includes a short IW scene but the time skip isn’t as drastic. SUPER SHITTY BC THIS IS A REALLY OLD ONESHOT

Steve stood alone in the isle after Peggy’s funeral, leaning against the pew as he stared blankly down at the ground with his hands stuffed in his pockets.
You silently approached him and without introduction, he began to speak. "When I came out of the ice, I thought everyone I had known was gone. Then I found out that she was alive. I was just lucky to have her."
"She had you back, too."
Steve looked up, meeting your gaze. "Who else signed?"
"Tony, Rhodey, Vision, Nat."
"Clint?"
"Says he's retired," you smiled slightly.
"Wanda?"
"TBD. I'm off to Vienna for the signing of the Accords. There's plenty of room on the jet."
Steve sighed and bowed his head.
"Just because it's the path of least resistance," you continued, "doesn't mean it's the wrong path. Staying together is more important than how we stay together."
"What are we giving up to do it?" He shook his head, unconvinced by your words. "I'm sorry, Y/N. I can't sign it."
"I know. I don't want to, either. But it's not like I have any other choice."
"The thing is, you do."
"You know why I am." You gave him a hard stare. "Tony...he's basically the only family I have left. I'm no longer a daughter, no longer a girl with dreams...no longer with hope. I'm a weapon. As much as I don't agree with him, betraying him is the last thing I wanna do. He’s my mentor. I can’t just turn against him like that...it wouldn’t feel right."
"Y/N..."
"You know what I've done," you took in a deep breath, "I don't want to hurt any more people. I don't want to be controlled by a government that might not deem everything big enough of a threat for us to go out and do something about it, but I can't risk any more than I already have. I don't have any other choice but to sign those Accords, Steve."
"Then what are you doing here?"
"I didn't want you to be alone."
You stepped forward, carefully pulling him into an embrace and at first, he tensed up at your touch but eventually relaxed, letting his arms wrap around you to pull you closer. And he just held you there, one arm wrapped tightly around your waist, the other one held to the back of your head. Your head was buried in his chest and the warmth of him felt so familiar and safe; oddly comforting, that your chest began to ache because you knew in a matter of time you'd be ripped apart again.
Steve felt guilty. Despite the fact that he was the majority of the reason why all of this was happening, you still found it in your heart to look past it all and forgive him, to accept him for who he was.
The broken woman standing before him was someone he'd grown to care about far more than he wanted himself to. Knowing that it wasn't long before you were taken away from him and forced to stand against him only made his grip around you tighten, as he was afraid to let you go out of his sight.
...
Seeing you across from him on the opposite side of the battlefield, standing firmly in between your Tony and T'Challa, broke his heart. If he was forced to fight Tony's team, he would. But he wasn't going to fight you, no matter what.
Everyone, while they were all busy fighting each other, could clearly tell something was going on between the two of you. But they didn't question it. They could clearly tell Steve loved you too much to even try and lay a finger on you and when someone else tried to, he quickly advanced on them.
You finally caved and turned last minute towards the end of the battle, unable to stand against the one man you cared about more than anyone else that wasn't family.
Everyone's actions followed with consequences. Though you'd switched sides abruptly, you'd been granted permission to stay with Tony at the compound under strict circumstances that you never stepped out of line again, or you'd be sent to the Raft prison along with the rest of Team Cap as well.
"Cap loves you, you know," Rhodey noticed your solemn expression as you, him, and Tony sat around in the lounge, taking in the aftermath.
You shook your head, squeezing your eyes shut as you pressed your fingers to your temples. "I made a mistake."
"We all make mistakes. People do bad things when they're trying to survive."
"Tony, I'm sorry," you turned over to the billionaire, "but I just...I couldn't stand against him. Not when we've stuck together for so long." The words that came out of Tony's mouth surprised you.
"I know. He couldn't do that, either."
"We've all done things that we'd like to take back," you murmured, staring down at your hands now in your lap, "Pain makes people change. I'd like to believe I didn't just do this, I didn't almost turn on you guys. You know I didn't want to sign. But I did, because you're like my family. I can't fight my own family." "He's made mistakes, yeah," Rhodey said, "but we've all messed up, you know. We’re only human.”
"My mistake was letting myself love someone I'd have to end up hurting eventually," you stated bitterly, a sharp edge to your voice.
"Cap made that same mistake, too," Tony spoke up. "We all screwed up. Some of us just have to find it in ourselves to forgive...but I don't know if I can do that yet."
"I know," you glanced over at him, "I miss them so much. Your parents...they changed my life for the better."
The billionaire took in a shaky breath. "I miss them too."
"You guys might wanna open this now," Rhodey handed you an envelope with your name on it, and Tony a package with a phone inside. "Tony Stank."
You snorted, and Tony cracked a small smile.
"Table for one, Tony Stank?" you joked.
"You're practically a Stank too, Y/L/N, you know that," he raised an eyebrow at you.
"Tony Stank just sounds funnier."
You quickly fell silent as you opened the letter.
Y/N, I'm glad you're back at the compound. I don't like the idea of you and Stark rattling around a mansion by yourself. We all need family. The Avengers are yours, maybe more so than mine. I've been on my own since I was 18. I never really fit in anywhere, even in the army. My faith's in people, I guess. Individuals. And I'm happy to say that, for the most part, they haven't let me down. Which is why I can't let them down either. Locks can be replaced, but maybe they shouldn't. I know I hurt you both. I guess I thought by not telling you about Howard and Maria that I was sparing you, but I can see now that I was really sparing myself, and I'm sorry. Hopefully one day you can understand. I wish we all agreed on the Accords, I really do. I know you're doing what you believe in, and that's all any of us can do. I know you didn't want to sign, but you were right in siding with your family. Even though you were on the opposite side of the battlefield, I couldn't fight you. I didn't want to hurt you. I still don't and I never will. No matter what happens. Just know that I ...
"Priority call from Secretary Ross," FRIDAY's voice drifted through the room, "There's been a breach at the Raft prison." "Yeah, put him through."
"Y/N, Tony, we have a problem, Cap and—" Ross called in.
"Ah, please hold," you interrupted.
"No, don't—"
You glanced back down at the letter in your hands, filled from top to bottom with Steve's elegant handwriting.
So, no matter what. I promise you, if you need us, if you need me, I'll be there. It's you, it always has been and it always will be, and I'm sorry for realizing that too late. I'm sorry for not being able to come back. I know I promised I'd always be by your side, and I will. Although I may not in the best situation to return right now, I promise you I'll see you soon. Take care, -S.R.
Several tears welled up in your eyes and slipped down your face as you closed the letter, staining the paper with dark spots.
"So, what'd he say," Tony took in your watery eyes and hard-set jaw. "Something wrong?"
"...He's on the run," your voice broke, "but they're all out. He broke them out.”
...
170 DAYS LATER
It was almost half a year of Team Cap jumping from motel to motel under different names and disguises every night, while still trying to defend the world as best as they possibly could. And when they were caught, Steve was sure that they'd be sent back.
"He'll come back soon, I'm sure of it," Rhodey reassured you as you watched the news of the search for Captain America was still underway. "When someone loves you the way he does, he's gonna find a way to return."
"He doesn't love me. I'm no better than a monster. And...I'm pretty sure he has heart eyes for Sharon."
"Well, he fucked up on that part," he agreed, clasping your shoulder, "but you know what? In the end, he still loves you. We all saw the way he looked at you back in Germany, he didn't want to hurt you. If he truly cared, he wouldn't hurt you even if you were on the opposing side, and that's what he did. I know he's gonna return: for your sake."
"I don't know why I'm letting myself do this."
"What? Loving him? That isn't anything new."
"New?"
"Sweetheart, I knew from the moment I first saw you look at him that you were. Look, love is worth fighting for, but sometimes you can't be the only one fighting. At times, people need to fight for you. You gotta be vulnerable and let him in your heart. Otherwise you'll keep feeling like you're in pain."
He did return.
You'd gone to trial and defended him under your name two weeks prior. Much to your current oblivion, your persuasion had worked and he was granted release and allowed to return, though he did so under the same strict circumstances given to you as well. He was warned to not pull off something like this a second time, and promise to ask for the government's aid whenever necessary.
So you're not expecting to buzz him and the others in late one Friday night.
"Y/N."
"Nat?"
"Can you buzz us in?"
"Uh...yeah, sure," you nodded, opening the gates to let them through. Within minutes, they were standing right in front of you, looking the exact same as they did five months ago, though the exhaustion was clear in all their faces.
"Greetings, Y/N." The android's arm was slung around Sam's shoulders, who was helping to hold him upright.
"Vision."
"It's good to see you guys, Rhodey greeted.
"t's great to see you too," Wanda smiled. She seemed to have aged a bit since you'd last seen her though she was only a teenager, but still looked much younger than everyone nonetheless.
"Well, you guys really look like crap. Must've been a rough couple of months."
"Yeah, well, the hotels weren't exactly five-star," Sam shrugged. "Where's Clint?"
"After the whole Accords situation, him and Scott took a deal. It was too tough on their families, they're on house arrest," Natasha explained.
She turned to you and gave you a tight hug, squeezing your hand as she pulled away. "Hey. How you holding up?"
"Could be better," you gave her a sad smile. "I'm fine."
"Y/N, hey."
Steve stepped out from behind Wanda and Sam and took a few tentative steps towards you, his feet feeling heavier by the second.
The one man you thought you wouldn't be seeing again for a while was now in front of you, and you weren't sure how to react. Your heartbeat was deafeningly loud in your ears, drowning out the sounds of everything else as everyone fell silent upon seeing you two interact.
"Hey," you responded a few moments later, stuffing your hands in your jacket pockets. You lifted your head slowly, an unrecognizable sort of emotion flickering in your eyes for a brief second before you averted his gaze and looked back down at the ground.
He still looked the same, with his dirty-blonde hair and tall, muscular build, those piercing blue eyes and comforting arms. The sight of him alone made your chest ache and your stomach twist itself into knots at the same time you felt butterflies flying around. You hated that you allowed yourself to care about him so much, that your body still reacted to the sight of him even after not seeing him for so long.
"Uh...we'll give you two a moment," Sam awkwardly cleared his throat, leaving the room with the others.
When you glanced back up again you could see just how much being away had affected his overall appearance: his bright blue eyes that glittered with authority and passion had lost their light, red-rimmed and bloodshot with dark circles underneath that indicated it had been days since he last slept.
"I'm sorry, I know it took a while, but I'm here now. I missed you."
"I missed you, too," you said quietly. You swallowed hard, feeling the familiar sting to your eyes as you struggled to keep your tears at bay.
He sighed and wrapped an arm around you, pulling you close like you'd done to him before all those months ago, gently rubbing your back. Despite the heaviness in your stomach, it still fluttered at the feeling of your body pressed against his and you sunk into his warmth, his touch making the room feel warmer somehow. His arms that held you were soft and comforting, yet strong and firm at the same time, and the feeling of being so close to him was so dizzying to the point it made your head spin. But you didn't want to let go, so you held onto him as tight as you possibly could.
During the time of his absence, when the majority of your days were spent wandering around the compound alone, you taught yourself to ignore the pressing feeling in the back of your head, the way you felt as if there was some void in your heart that could only be filled by him and him alone. Day by day you attempted to convince yourself that no, you weren't falling in love with him, no, you weren't supposed to fall in love with him because it'd only destroy you in the end.
Yet you still did.
Always playing the part of promoting liberty and justice for all, Steve believed his sole purpose was to inspire and empower others to make the world a better place, blending into the mantra of 'a star-spangled man with a plan.' He always planned things out, always knew what he was doing.
So when he realized as he was holding you there in his arms, that he'd fallen in love with you, he didn't have a plan. And frankly, it terrified him.
He didn't have a plan, so he just decided to go with what his gut told him.
Steve brushed a stray hair that fell across your face and tucked it behind your ear. You looked up in surprise, heart hammering against your chest as his thumb brushed ever so gently against your cheek before he leaned down and pressed his lips to yours.
That's all he needed to do in order to eradicate all the anger, all the pent-up frustration and other emotion inside of you, to make you forgive him for every little thing that he's done to break your heart because there was nothing he could possibly do to make you love him any less.
"I love you," you mumbled as you pulled away, resting your head against his broad chest.
"I know. I love you too."

ok no ones gonna read this but i don’t care bc my brain is full as shit rn
OKAY SO FIRST OF ALL
in age of ultron steve can’t lift mjolnir but in endgame he can so one can ask what exactly changed
civil war
steve knew that the winter solider murdered howard and maria stark bc obviously when he was trying to find bucky he found out everything he possibly could and in age of ultron he’s keeping that secret
how could one be worthy of the power of thor while keeping a secret like that from someone so close to him? obviously he wasn’t but the hammer moved a little. because he was still steve rogers and he was close
and then tony finds out and steve spends the next few years fighting his ass off to save the world and save all of the people he cares about and he doesn’t have this secret anymore and he’s just whole and good. so he’s worthy.
AND SECOND OF ALL A BIT OFF TOPIC
wandavision!!!!
1. darcy lewis was a fucking POLISCI MAJOR and met the god of thunder and now she’s a fucking astrophysicist. and ITS DR DARCY LEWIS WHAT AJ ICON and also she’s so cute i’m in love with her
2. agatha fucking harkness. agnes absolutely knows what’s going on and is possibly behind it. she’s completely off her rocker in the comic books. agnes is the one constantly showing up to “help” wanda. she’s the only one who kind of breaks character and doesn’t freak about it like she literally asks wanda to restart the scene. maybe she created the entire reality and she’s the one doing this
3. whoever did create the reality because i’m 80% sure it wasn’t wanda has an ulterior motive. they obviously didn’t create this sitcom shit to give wanda her happiness. i’d bet money theyre after the kids who in the comics come from shards of mephisto’s soul and are incredibly powerful. the only reason they’d give wanda the family she wants. ie vision and the kids would be to get these children whether to use them as weapons or kill them to gain more power
4. MEPHISTO. okay in the comics this asshole gives her the kids and i cant remember if he wanted to weaponize or kill them. either way i’d bet the kids aren’t identified because they weren’t real before west view. aka they were created within the anomaly. in the comics everything he does drives wanda so mad she breaks the multiverse
5. multiverse. in the comics wanda breaks the multiverse. it has been confirmed she is connected to dr stranges multiverse of madness which begins after wandavision season one. i personally think that wanda will break the multiverse (possibly having something to with evan peters pietro (peter) maximoffs appearance in wandavision (the x men could join the mcu seeing as disney bought out the franchise)
6. vision. so i don’t think vision is a corpse anymore. i also don’t think he’s connected to the mindstone at least like he was. vision has shown sympathy before but the emotions he shows in wandavision (especially episode 5) is something more. he’s never gotten angry at wanda like he did. he’s never been confused like he is. vision has never been unaware. i think someone else brought vision back, either agatha or mephisto or some other villian marvel will bring in. before episode 5 vision has never really questioned this reality before but something changed and i can’t really pinpoint what. honestly if anyone figures out what’s going on i think it’ll be vision
6. wanda has also never shown she has the power to bring someone back from the dead AND if she can, i don’t think she would. when sparky dies and billy and tommy beg her to bring him back she says ‘we cannot reverse death no matter how sad it makes us’ and wanda has seen so much death in her life. her parents, pietro and vision. not to mention all the people she killed in lagos and everyone who died in sokovia in age of ultron. not once in her grief of pietro is it shown she tried to bring him back.
7. wanda didn’t start this. she literally says in episode five ‘i don’t even know how any of this staryed’ so maybe mephisto or agatha promised her vision and a family to sort of trick or sate her to get what the want. wanda has been thru a lot yes but nothing so far has pointed to her losing it like this. if it is wanda then it would have to be a complete character change because the wanda we know so far would never enslave and warp people’s minds like this, so permantly (so far) and so widespread. she would be essentially holding an entire hound hostage which just seems out of character for the girl that killed the love of her life, who begged her to, just to save the world. also when she re-enters west view after giving the drone back to sword the force field goes from the blue we’ve been seeing to red indicating someone else’s power is present.
8. pietro!!! so obviously it isn’t the pietro we know. it’s evan peters pietro which is leading to me questioning if whoever created this anomaly mahbe has the power to pull people from another universe. it would be really cool if our first introduction of the x men j to the mcu is peter maximoff. either way pietro’s return is further evidence it’s not wanda creating and controlling the anomaly. when there’s a knock at the door she says i didn’t do that. and she is completely thrown off when she sees pietro. she doesn’t even recognize him at first because obviously it isn’t the same pietro. but id bet that like dottie and agnes sword cant identify pietro either since he probably wasn’t somebody that existed in this universe. i don’t think peter maximoff would willingly work with someone like mephisto or agatha unless he was tricked but i’d bet he literally just doesn’t know what’s going on
9. monica woo and darcy!! i don’t really have many theories about them but i am very very glad that these characters who were previously just side characters in marvel movies that aren’t as widely appreciated as say iron man or the avengers are being given bigger roles!!! i would definitely like to know why monica is uncomfortable talking about carol though? it’s a very big change from the monica we met in captain marvel.
10. hayward. man this guy SUCKS. the only other person we’ve reallt seen talk about wanda like he did was thaddeus ross when he was trying to get the avengers to sign the sokovia accords after lagos. he calls her a terrorist and brings up her history with hydra, talks about the people she killed in lagos and basically insinuates that she’s a villain (which darcy and woo visibly disagree with as id imagine a lot of people do seeing as wanda was key in defeating thanos and bringing people back from the blip, helped save the world after ultron tried to blow it to hell and earned the trust and respect of earths mightiest heroes) i wouldn’t be surprised if he works for hydra or even aim if that makes its presence in the mcu

Wanda Maximoff (Scarlet Witch) Masterlist
Series Masterlist
| Preview | Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7 | Part 8 | Part 9 |
A/N: Reduced the angst a lil, the next part will be so much fluffier I promise you
Waking up, you opened your eyes to see you were still in the jet. Your sleep had been dreamless, almost peaceful. FRIDAY told you that you were just about to land outside of the compound, and your mom was waiting for you. You barely cared, you switched off the music and threw your phone on charge.
You could care less about what was happening around you. When you got off the plane, Natasha saw how drained, how tired, how broken you looked. Your mom knew she needed to give you your space, but seeing how torn you were, the redhead couldn’t bring herself to leave you alone.
“Hey honey,” Natasha greeted you, walking over to you and slinging one arm across your shoulder. She wore a light grey t-shirt and black leggings.
Wind whipped around your face as you made your way towards the compound. There was no one there. It looked almost abandoned.
Everything seemed as if it was happening far away from you. Sighing, you removed her arm and started to walk towards your room to sleep. Natasha didn’t stop you. She knew she couldn’t help you right now. So, she left you alone.
On your way to your room, you found Vision waiting for you. Ignoring him, you opened the door to your room and flopped down on the bed.
“Can I come in?” He asked, knocking on your open door.
When you didn’t respond, he let himself in and stood next to your dresser. Turning, you were facing the ceiling. You glanced over at him. He wore a dark green v-neck sweater, a white oxford t-shirt, and black trousers. He looked remorseful, which surprised you.
“What do you want?” You asked, voice hoarse.
You cleared your throat and turned to face him, still laying on your back on the bed. Vision clenched his jaw and took in a deep breath.
“I came to apologize if I might have overstepped with Wanda.” He answered. You raised a tired eyebrow.
“Overstepped?” You asked, he nodded.
“By making her dinner or being with her after she was hurt, I didn’t mean to overstep the boundaries of being her friend.” He explained.
“Vision, do you think now is the time to talk to me about this?” You sighed, annoyed with him. Glancing over at him, you saw how confused he was.
“I just saw-” You stopped yourself, trying not to remember everything.
But it came back to you. The sight of your girlfriend collapsing in pain right in front of you. While you stood there, unable to do anything. Tears welled up in your eyes. You bit the inside of your lip to prevent them from breaking out. Clenching your jaw, you tried to calm your erratic breathing.
“Please, just go away,” You pleaded, turning away from him.
Vision fidgeted, you heard him move closer to you in an attempt to comfort you. He touched your shoulder, attempting to rub your back to make you feel better. You knew he was trying to do what he had Wanda seen doing whenever she wanted you to calm down. You snapped, turning around quickly and slapping his hand away from you.
“I said to leave me alone!” You shouted, eyes wide as tears started to fall down your cheeks.
“I was trying to-”
“Haven’t you done enough already?” You demanded, turning around and propping yourself up on your elbows.
“Why the hell did you let Wanda leave the compound? You knew it wasn’t safe for her!” You yelled, hastily wiping tears off of your cheeks. Vision flinched visibly at your words and pulled away.
You knew it wasn’t his fault. He couldn’t have done anything to stop Wanda. Even you couldn’t have stopped Wanda even if you tried. You didn't blame him. His expression when you snapped at him made your guilt worse.
You saw the guilt in his face, the guilt of shooting Rhodey, of pushing you, you didn’t want to shout at him. Groaning, you turned around and hugged your pillow tightly. Footsteps sounded away from you, Vision muttered a quick apology before leaving you.
But before long, you heard more footsteps approaching your room. Sighing, you didn’t bother looking up from your pillows.
“I thought I told you to leave me alone,” You murmured, turning around to face whoever was at the door.
Natasha stood there, leaning against the doorway, arms crossed across her chest. There were tears in her eyes, she moved to sit down next to you.
“You know it isn’t his fault,” She said softly, reaching up to move the hair out of your face.
“You came here to scold me?” You asked, clearing your throat to prevent sobs from escaping.
You wiped the tears off of your face to look up at your mom. Natasha shook her head and sighed, taking her hand away from your face. Neither of you said anything, unsure of what to say. In a matter of days, your entire family had fallen apart. In just a few days, your worst nightmare had come true.
Natasha remembered when Wanda was forced by Ultron to make the Avengers see their worst fears. Instead of seeing the red-room, anything from her past. Natasha saw you, but it wasn’t exactly you. You were dirty, scared. Alone. The same way she had found you on the street. But this time, it was because of her. This was both of your worst nightmare.
“What happens now?” You asked, voice watery as you drew your mom out of her thoughts.
“I don’t think I know y/n/n,” Natasha answered, desperate to provide you with as much comfort as she could, even though she knew it wouldn’t be enough.
The redhead moved to lay down beside you, tucking your head into her shoulder. Numbly, you let her pull you closer to her. Her hand moved to your back, stroking it gently, trying to drag you away from your thoughts. It wasn’t working.
Whenever you closed your eyes, all you could see was Wanda. How scared she looked, the pain she was in. There was nothing you could do to stop it. Tears fell from your face, you forced your eyes open as you tried not to think about her. Your chest constricted fear and hurt seeping into your mind.
Natasha noticed you were crying when she felt your tears soaking her t-shirt. She reached over with her free hand and wiped them away, looking at you with concerned emerald eyes.
“Malyutka, talk to me,” She whispered, pulling you into a hug while lying down.
Sobs wrenched their way out of your chest, tears soaked your mom’s light grey t-shirt as you fell apart in her arms. Natasha started running her hands through your hair, stroking your back, anything to try to calm you down. Nothing was working, everything seemed to make it worse.
“It hurts,” you choked out, the pain in your chest increasing every second.
“I know, I’m sorry,” Natasha whispered, holding you close to her.
Eventually, you exhausted yourself from crying and fell asleep. Your head tucked into Natasha’s shoulder. There were tear tracks all over your face. The redhead slowly pulled away from you so she could see your face.
Sighing, she reached up to wipe the tear stains off of your face.
You hummed in your sleep, trying to get closer to Natasha. The redhead sighed, kissing your forehead and trying to tuck you into bed. She didn’t want to leave you alone, but she needed to arrange some things with Tony to get you to safety.
“I love you, I’m sorry,” Natasha whispered, kissing your forehead and pulling away to leave your room.
You reached out in your sleep, gripping her shirt. Your mom turned around and gently pried your fingers off of her shirt. Her heart broke at how tired and broken you looked. Softly shutting the door, she left your room.
————
You awoke in a cold bed with a throbbing headache. Groaning, you got out of bed and started walking outside. Memories from yesterday started rushing back to you. Trying to shut off your mind, you went into the kitchen. You heard noises coming from Tony’s office, frowning, you made your way over to it.
Your mom was arguing with Tony about something when she noticed you in the doorway, she gave you a tight smile and walked over to you to pull you into a hug. She kissed your forehead and asked you how you were feeling.
“Fine, what’s going on?” You asked, looking from Tony to Natasha. The redhead pulled away, slinging one arm across your shoulders and moving inside the room.
“Zemo is under arrest, Steve and Bucky are on the loose,” Tony stated leaning back in his chair, your eyes widened.
“That wasn’t supposed to happen,” You pointed out, trying to take comfort by leaning closer to your mom.
“None of this was,” Natasha muttered, Tony glared at her before turning to you.
“I’m talking with Ross to try to get your record cleared so you can stay at the compound with me,” Tony stated, picking up his cell phone. You noticed a flip phone and a letter on his desk and frowned.
“What about you?” You asked, turning to face your mom.
Natasha pursed her lips before kissing your forehead. You knew whatever she was going to say wasn’t going to be good. Even when you were younger, whenever your mom had to leave for a mission when you wanted her to stay, she kissed your forehead and held you closer to her.
“You can’t leave me, not now.” You pulled away, looking up at the redhead desperately.
“Y/n…” She trailed off, you shook your head and pulled away from her completely.
“No! You can’t leave me after everything that’s happened!” You shouted, livid at the idea of your mom abandoning you after everything that happened. After your family falling apart, after watching your girlfriend fall apart in front of you, you can’t lose your mom.
“Y/n, listen to me,” Natasha began, but you refused to listen.
“No, I don’t want to,” You argued before Natasha could continue you cut her off.
“I just watched my family tear itself apart, then I watched my girlfriend get tormented like a fucking animal. I can’t watch you leave me!” You shouted, more tears making their way down your face.
You wanted your mom to feel all the pain you were feeling. You wanted her to feel how torn you were, how much you had gone through. You wanted her to realize she couldn’t leave you. Not after everything that happened.
“Okay,” Natasha whispered, reaching out for you. You pulled away, raising a weak eyebrow and wiping tears off of your cheeks.
“Okay?” You asked.
“Okay, you can come with me,” Natasha stated, you started to smile when she put a finger up, indicating she wasn’t finished.
“But if anything happens to you if you get in danger. I’m bringing you back here, whether you like it or not.” Your mom stated, voice stern and leaving no room for argument.
You nodded, letting your mom pull you in for a reassuring hug. She pulled away to look at Tony, he looked defeated, staring at the letter and the flip phone on his desk. Before you could ask who it was from, Natasha guided you away from his office and into your room to pack.
The risks of going on the run with your mom were imminent to you, but you could care less. After losing your family and your girlfriend, you couldn’t lose your mom too. So, she helped you pack some clothes and a few other things into a large suitcase.
When you were busy, she sneaked into Wanda’s room and packed some of Wanda’s things into a spare suitcase. After disguising it as her luggage, she packed it up and put it into a car. You weren’t sure where you were heading, but you trusted your mom.
The entire time you were packing, you refused to think about anything that had happened in the past few days. You packed everything that Wanda had given you, bought you on dates, trying not to think about her. You changed into a loose t-shirt and black jeans before leaving.
After all the packing was done, you put the last few things in the car and went to where Tony was standing. He looked exhausted, but he put on a fake smile for you and put one arm across your shoulders.
“Hey kid,” He said softly, you gave him a sad smile.
“I’m sorry about everything that happened with-”
“Don’t,” You cut him off, clenching your jaw. You had managed to turn off your emotions, the last thing you needed was a reminder of what happened. Tony noticed your tense posture and patted your back, stopping himself from going further.
“I’m gonna miss you,” He gave you a one-armed hug. You turned around and hugged him with everything you had, surprising him. Tony patted your back, hugging you hesitantly. He wasn’t sure how to react to this.
“I’m gonna miss you too Uncle Tony,” You said, pulling away from him and smiling at him.
Tony hugged Natasha and went inside, unable to watch both of you drive off. You sat in the passenger seat, looking outside as your mom drove away from the compound. Your home became smaller the further away you went from it. Now, the only thing you had of your home were memories and pictures.
Clenching your jaw, you watched it fade into the distance as Natasha drove away.
“Where are we going?” You asked, turning to face her.
“I’m not sure, Steve asked me to meet him here,” Natasha handed you her phone.
There was a small location pointer in the middle of nowhere. Scrolling around, you found it was about a 4-hour drive from where you were. The location looked like it was large enough to land a jet. Sighing, you gave the phone back to your mom and rested your head against the window.
Four hours went by agonizingly slow. Natasha had ended up switching on the radio within the first hour, unable to stand the silence. Random opera music played in between the ads and the podcasts. You fell into a dreamless sleep for an hour before your mom woke you up again.
Walking outside, you stretched in the fresh air. You were surrounded by grass and trees, it seemed like a nice open space park. Natasha texted someone on her phone, then told you the quinjet should be here soon.
“You seem happier than normal,” You remarked, noticing the grin your mom had on her face.
“Steve said he had a surprise for you,” She stated, you raised an eyebrow.
“Did he tell you the surprise?” You asked Natasha nodded, still grinning at you.
“I’m guessing you’re not going to tell me,”
“You’re incredibly perceptive,” Your mom stated, you groaned and slapped her arm lightly.
You moved to lean against the bonnet of the car. Natasha texted Steve a few things but moved to stand next to you. When she noticed your shivering, she brought one of Wanda’s hoodies to you.
“How, when?” You stuttered, looking at the light pink hoodie in your hands.
“Does it matter?” Natasha winked.
Rolling your eyes at her, you put on the hoodie and tucked your hands in the pockets. Inhaling the scent brought fresh tears to your eyes. Sniffling you wiped them away with the hoodie sleeve and looked up as the quinjet started to land.
The familiar jet landed, Steve walked out, wearing his Captain America uniform. But the star in the center was scratched out. Behind him, was someone you never thought you would see again.

Note
9, 17 nd 22 for the ask game!!
9 - most disliked character(s)?
in no particular order!
tony stark
nathaniel richards/kang the conqueror/iron lad/whoever the fuck else he was
bryne!piotr i love my normal metal man but christ why did they write him dating a 13 y/o 🤢
red hulk/thaddeus ross
sentry/bob reynolds
carol danvers
henry peter gyrich this bitch is so fucking annoying <3
hickman’s valeria richards, why the fuck did you write like a 5 year old saying the r slur what the fuck is wrong with you. like literally why. who does this. i’m so fucking angry
hickman’s moira mactaggart, still upset abt the no precogs rule
us agent
and probably more but i am tired <3
17 -  instead of xyz happening, i would have made abc happen…
hnnng multiple things i would change,,, um instead of civil war happening everyone just drinks some hot chocolate and takes a nap and calms down and then talks things out like reasonable adults and there’s no weird shitty ooc moments and no clones are made. instead of the illuminati deciding they know best and doing a bunch of shitty things they just gossip with each other and eat brunch like the catty old bitches they are. instead of repeatedly beating the dead horse into glue with hank pym & That™ they just stop fucking bringing it up like i’m fucking serious about this he’s done other storylines then that! idk explore his journey getting diagnosed with bipolar & anxiety later in life and how he started to modify his day to day life to support himself and that sort of shit which would be important to see because people at that age are rarely diagnosed it usually happens later but NO sure still continue bringing this up despite us ignoring every other character’s dubious/badly written moments.
and lastly instead of that stupid and gross Simon/Wanda/Vision love triangle that i hate more than anything we have someone calling simon out on his repressed gay feelings <3 stop doing this to all three of them they all deserve better than this can we not have wanda and vision happy with their children and simon as an awkward uncle in fucking peace why do you have to ruin EVERYTHING m*rvel.
22 -  popular character you hate?
fucking uh tony stark, i probably wouldn’t hate him if i wasn’t forced to see him so much but uh >:) here we are!! i just. he’s not interesting to me, he feels fakedeep (in my opinion i’m not saying he is please don’t send hate dhdhcbhjsd), his following on tungle dot edu feels mildly cultlike, amd i think everything he’s done or all the interesting parts of him have been done better by different characters tbh sdbhshhdxsdh
BUT ALSO. carol danvers, her brand of feminism feels so fake and boring and like not universal AT ALL but some fans think she is? like i like how pissed off she makes shitty fanboys but like that’s it for her. she doesn’t entice me, she feels like what if we took sue storm-richards and took away every interesting aspect of her and called it a day. monica again was much more interesting and feels a lot more genuine as a feminist character then carol. she just feels... eh.
and finally, wolverine (logan). stop trying to make him cool stop making him win against people he should have no right being stronger than, stop making him edgy and stop making him a loner or whatever shitty cishet male kinda projection u wanna put on him. stop pairing him with jean too stop pairing him with underage girls or girls who are like 18-24 just fucking. stop it <3 shut up about logan i don’t care if i wanted a sexy berserker with facial hair and dubious morals i’d go to mr hercules who has yet to treat me wrong. shut up about him alright either he is a struggling dad of like 5, boyfriend to literal god/desses or he’s the squad leader of a gang of lesbian mutants. anything other then these three things is bad <3
salty ask game!

Touch My Hands and Heal Me (BuckyxOFC & StevexOFC)
Tumblr media
So just a fun one shot to help me get over some writer’s block. I’ve had this idea in mind for awhile so I’m excited to finally get it out.
Warnings: Some swearing, violence.
Words: 6k
Touch My Hands and Heal Me
This was the last place Steve wanted to be on a Thursday night. Nothing against the bar itself but it had been a hellish week and all he wanted to do was relax in his suite in the Tower and pretend for 5 minutes that he was an average guy.
Which is probably why Sam dragged his ass to this bar.
And of course, Bucky tagged along even though he was just as exhausted. Either from a self-induced guilt trip or his belief in Steve's inability to stay out of trouble, Bucky grumbled but tucked his head down and followed silently. Jerk.
Sam led them down the streets of NYC to a little hole in the wall sports bar an air force friend recommended.
It always amazed Steve how easily people failed to notice him without the suit and shield. Walking down the sidewalk with a vintage Brooklyn Dodgers baseball cap on and a brown leather jacket over jeans, no one looked at him twice. Or Bucky in a black hoodie. Or Sam in a gray Nike long sleeve and ball cap. It was nice that there was somewhat a sense of esoteric, that only on the rare occasion was he swarmed now, or perhaps people were used to him. What it truly made him realize was that most people only really saw and cared about Captain America and not Steve Rogers.  No one cared about the little guy from Brooklyn anymore. All they wanted was the glorified icon of patriotism.
He pinched the bridge of his nose for a moment, willing the tension in his head and muscles to leave. Tony and him had a long meeting with Senator Thaddeus Ross today and when it finally concluded, he fled to the gym to make use of the weight bags. He probably would be receiving a bill from Tony because of all the busted bags he left behind. The man was a genius, you would think he would have reinforced them long ago.
Apparently he needed a drink- according to Sam.
He was pleasantly surprised when he walked through the door of the bar -The Old Guys Tavern-  and found it calm. It was a smaller establishment, nestled between a BBQ restaurant and a sporting goods store on a back road. It was a sports bar with several TVs showing different games playing, framed pictures all over the walls of different famous athletes, a few framed mirrors, a jukebox in the back corner near 2 pool tables. A long bar took up half of one wall, across from it several booths and a few scattered tables near the pool tables. It was simple and felt reminiscent of how bars used to be. The lights were dim but instead of feeling like a club -no matter what Natasha said he was NOT doing that again- it gave an illusion of privacy.
He quickly noticed that among the 23 people already there, most were male and either middle aged or elderly, with the leaning towards those with gray hair.
"I thought you two would feel at home here amongst your age group." Sam quipped, scanning the bar with a smile on his face.
"Does that mean we need to find a kindergarten for you?" Bucky retorted.
Steve just shook his head as Sam laughed.
They settled into an open leather booth, a Minnesota Vikings versus Green Bay Packers football game played on the TV across from them.
"You dragged our asses out here, you got first round."
Sam narrowed his eyes at Bucky. "A'ight man, I see how it is. I try to help you have a social life and this is the thanks I get. See if I bring you out again, cyborg."
Steve watched Sam walk up to the bar before turning to his oldest friend, seated across from him. The dark rings under his eyes only confirming how the week had affected him too.
 "I'm fine, Steve."
 "Your face says otherwise."
The corners of Bucky's lips turned up for a moment. "I'll be fine. It's just…" He sighed heavily, running a hand through his long, dark hair.
"A reminder that we're in the wrong century?"
 "Yeah...we shouldn't be here."
 "I know, Buck. I know."
3 days ago they had attended Dum-Dum Dugan's funeral and it hit them both hard. He had been the last Howling Commando alive besides Steve and Bucky and it felt like a knife in the heart. They did not just lose a friend. It felt like the closing of a book. Another reminder of something they used to be a part of, something that they knew, was gone. Yet here they were, drowning in the murky waters of the 21st Century.
"Alright boys, here it is." Sam slid a glass bottle of Heineken to both of them while slipping next to Steve in the booth with his own. "You guys made plans for next week yet?"
"Clint said we could visit the farm. Natasha and Wanda will go, I'm certain." Steve said, idly rubbing the label as the condensation dampened his finger.
"Vision will go if Wanda goes." Bucky snorted, taking a sip of his beer.
"You sure it's alright if I leave? I can tell my family that something has come up. Can't promise they won't show up at the Tower with enough food to feed an army though." Sam smirked.
"No, you deserve to go see your family." Steve said, hoping to hide the pain in his voice. "Buck and I will figure out something." He hoped.
Next week was Thanksgiving, the first one Steve and Bucky would be together for since 1944. The one last year, Bucky had been in Wakanda, still working to get the trigger words out of his head. Thankfully Princess Shuri figured it out. Which reminded Steve to contact T'Challa soon to get an update -from his viewpoint- of the revisions of the Accords. Steve did not trust Senator Ross' update from earlier. That man had an agenda and clearly resented the need to keep the Avengers updated.
"I'll make sure to bring some of my mom's pumpkin pies back for you guys. Soon as I tell her the great Captain America ate the whole one last year, she will lose her mind."
Steve blushed and rubbed the back of his neck at the reminder.  "I didn't realize it was to share. I thought Pepper bought it for the kitchen."
"Hey! Don't compare my momma's home-made, award-winning pumpkin pie to some cheap-ass, store-bought kind! I should kick your ass for that insult."
"Oh, I want to see that." Bucky deadpanned, keeping his eyes on the TV across from them.
Steve changed the subject before the bickering started. He knew it was mostly in good humor but sometimes it grated on his nerves. "Parker stopped by this morning to try out the new suit Tony made him."
"You still seriously considering using him on the field? He's a kid." Sam questioned.
"He took out both you and Buck at the airport."
"Alright, touché, but still. A damn kid."
"I told Tony if he keeps his grades up and practices hard with us, I won't fight it." Steve smirked. "But if he gets hurt, Tony has to deal with Aunt May."
That made them all chuckle. Once when Peter practiced with them, he had landed wrong and twisted his ankle. From what they heard, you would have thought Peter had lost a limb with how Aunt May berated Tony and fussed over her nephew. It had become a running joke amongst the team.
An hour passed, Steve and Bucky both having to take their turn buying the beers, as they chatted or just watched the games on the TVs. Everything had been going so well, which should have been a flashing beacon that something was going to happen. If this week had been any indication.
One of the guys who had been playing pool with a few others started their way. He was in his forties, slightly overweight, in business attire, looking like he got off work at an office and came out to grab a beer with friends.  Steve had noticed him several times over the past hour glancing their way but paid no mind. No one else had approached them or even acknowledged them. Most likely someone trying to figure out how he recognized their faces.
He approached the table and stared at each of them before a toothy, crooked grin appeared. Looking back over his shoulder, he called over to his friends. "It is those goddamn Avenger shits. I knew it. Coming in here like they own the place."
"Hey, back off, man." Sam tried to keep his cool but Steve could see that the guy had gotten under his skin. "We are just here for a beer, minding our own business."
"You know, I bet all those stunts you pull, the "world-saving" and shit, it's all fake. You pretend, keep the masses happy and feeling protected while you just live like kings off government money. Yeah…I know the truth."
Before any of them could respond to the guy, about how very wrong he was, a new voice from the bar spoke up.
"Chuck, quit trying to start a fight. They could kick your ass without breaking a sweat."
The guy -apparently Chuck- glared over his shoulder at the speaker. "Shut up. No one asked you to get involved."
A woman probably mid twenties slid down off the bar stool she was sitting on and stalked their way. Steve can't help but watch her, feeling as if a hurricane was approaching.  Her honey blonde hair was pulled back in a ponytail, her hazel eyes stared defiantly at Chuck. She wore a loose white t-shirt with some kind of symbol on the front and black leggings that highlighted all her curves and showed off her long legs. Combat boots and a dark leather jacket completed the look.
"Just cause you're still pissed doesn't mean you gotta start shit. Now, leave them alone, you're bothering them."
"We will leave. We didn't come here to start trouble." Steve injected, glancing between the man and woman standing at the end of the table.
She turned slightly to pin him with a pointed look that had him regretting his words and shutting his mouth.  She turned back to the guy -Chuck- and they glared at each other for several long, awkward, tense moments before he huffed and took a step back.
"Bitch," he muttered but glared at her still, "probably going to let them all fuck you like the whore you are."
As soon as the last word spewed out of his mouth, she hit him with a right hook that left him half sprawled on the table beside them.
"Dee, no fighting. God, girl, get out of here!" The bartender called over, clearly exasperated as he ran his hand through his white hair.
"Sorry, Ray." She shrugged unapologetically. Flexing the fingers on her right hand, she turned back to Steve, Bucky and Sam. "Have a good night, boys."
Steve watched her walk out of the bar. Out of the corner of his eye, he can see Chuck get up, spitting blood on the floor, with the help of one of his friends. He looked like he wanted to say something but his friend quickly dragged him back to the pool tables.
Perfect. Steve was not in the mood for a fight.
"Think she's ok?" Bucky was staring at her retreating form also, even when she disappeared from view. He turned back slowly to meet their confused looks. "That hit...might have broken something."
They sat in silence for a second before sliding out of the booth and heading out.
The air had a winter's bite to it but not yet unbearable. Although it took a lot for Steve to feel really cold now. Those rare moments always brought up painful memories of icy waters and darkness. Something he prefered not to think about.
They managed to glimpse her before she turned down another street. Simultaneously they started to jog to catch up. Thankfully not too many people on the sidewalk stopped to stare at three huge guys casually jogging at 10pm at night in jeans.
"Hey yo! Dee!" Sam called out as they turned down the street.
She stopped, slowly turning around to watch them approach with a single eyebrow raised. "You boys lost?"
"Naw, we wanted to see if you're alright. That was quite a punch."
Thank God for Sam's ability to always talk. Steve never thought he would be glad for that one day but right now he was. Staring at her, he felt tongue-tied.
She smiled, holding her hand up and wiggling her fingers. "I'm fine. Not a big deal."
Steve could not help but notice her nails were painted a shimmery dark blue.
"Why did you do it?" They all looked at Bucky with his hands in his pockets as he spoke. "I mean, you didn't have to stand up for us. Hell, he has to weigh twice what you do. So...how come you got involved?"
 "I don't like bullies."
"Ah shit, she's the female version of you, Steve." Bucky bemoaned, dragging a hand down his face.
She giggled, the sound rich and feminine, and Steve could not help but smile in response.
"I'll take that as a compliment, Sergeant Barnes."
 "Call me Bucky, please."
 "Ok, Bucky."
"I guess you already know Steve and I." Sam said, crossing his arms over his chest. "Your name Dee?"
She seemed to hesitate for a second, looking back over her shoulder. "Lydia."
"Nice to meet you, Lydia. Thanks for helping out back there."
"Oh believe me, it was my pleasure. I've been wanting to hit him for a while. I doubt Ray will let me back though."
"Cause you hit a rude customer? I'd think you're doing him a favor." Sam snorted.
"Ah no, I may have hit Chuck's cousin last week...broke his nose."
The three stared at her in varying degrees of amusement and shock.
"What? He was bad mouthing the New England Patriots. Tom Brady is my boy."
"Shit, doll, you're something else." Bucky laughed.
"Thank you. Now it's lovely to meet you all but I need to go. Tootles."
"Wait!" Steve was not sure why he stopped her except that some part of him was not ready to lose her yet. He took a step closer. "Where are you headed?"
She raised an eyebrow, clearly wondering what he was getting at. "Home."
"Let us walk you. It's the least we can do."
"It's not that far, I promise. I'm sure you superheroes have better things to do. I'll be fine."
"Come on, Lydia, we got you kicked out. Let us make sure you get home safe, yeah?" Sam joined the petition.
She chewed her bottom lip, eyes scanning between the three of them before letting out a sigh. "If it makes you feel better."
 ----------
When Bucky went to the bar with Steve and Sam, his expectations were to keep an eye on Steve, taunt Sam and just pretend that he had actually slept the past five days instead of pacing or staring at a wall all night.
Watching a beautiful dame punch a guy to defend them… this night got a whole lot more interesting.
The four of them walked down the sidewalk together, Steve and Bucky behind Sam and her...Lydia.
"So, you know who we are and what we do," Sam said casually, "tell us about you."
"Well I get into fights at bars and I watch football. I'm not that interesting."
Bucky could not help but snort. A shared glance with Steve confirmed his own amusement.
"Alright. Who taught you to fight? You got a mean swing that clearly shows some training." Sam continued.
"My brother." She shrugged. "What were you guys doing out? I would think you'd have booze at the Tower or be more likely to go to a high-class, expensive bar instead of Ray's little place."
"Naw, we just wanted somewhere quiet and out of the way. Besides, if we break out any booze, Tony always somehow senses it and magically appears."
She laughed, and Bucky felt his heart lighten at the sound.
"Maybe we were hoping to meet someone as beautiful as you, doll." Bucky was not sure where the words came from, but for a moment he felt like the Bucky from the 40s who knew how to charm and flirt.  A forgotten piece of him buried beneath the decades of trauma endured under HYDRA'S thumb.
She spun around to look at him, still walking backwards with a smirk and teasing glint in her eyes. "I'm far from beautiful but I'm more than happy to pretend for you."
He chuckled, he could feel Steve's curious eyes on him but he paid no mind. It felt good to remember this piece of him, to remind himself he was more than a damaged person, even for only a minute. "Dollface, you just gave the best right hook I've ever seen a dame throw. I'm certain that is the sexiest thing I've seen in a long time."
Laughing, she paused momentarily to slide to his side and kiss his cheek. Her arm slipped through his and they continued walking like nothing had happened.
 Except something had happened.
With her touch, it felt like all his senses tripled in intensity. Her kiss...such an innocent kiss yet it set his blood on fire and brought out a warmth in his bones that even HYDRA could not freeze out.
"You go around kissing strangers often?"
She winked at Steve. "Only the cute ones."
"She called you cute, man!" Sam laughed.
Bucky pretended to scoff. "Cute...I'm not cute. Take that back." He nudged her with his elbow, thankful she was on his right side.
 "Would you prefer devilishly handsome?"
"Hey, if the shoe fits…" Bucky shrugged, trying to keep a straight face. Steve's chuckling almost broke it. His blue eyes met her hazel and he realized he was glad they had met. She was beautiful in a girl-next-door kind of way- Cupid's bow lips, button nose, soft features. She was tall for most women, about 5' 10" even in just combat boots. Yet it was the energy around and within her that made her stand out. She felt like joy...she radiated life...there was a sparkle in her eyes that had not been tainted by the evils of this world yet.
"Pain in the ass also fits." Steve muttered, walking on Lydia's other side.
 "Punk."
 "Jerk."
She slipped her other arm through Steve's.  "I'm pretty sure 'trouble' is the best description."
"Now that I can attest to." Sam said, leading the group.
They walked another block in the same formation. Lydia between Steve and himself, her arms looped through theirs. They chatted, flirted and teased easily, like they had known each other their whole lives. It was odd but Bucky was not complaining. It felt good. He found himself hoping this was not the last time they would see her. The warmth infusing itself into him from her touch was addictive. Her laughter and smiles made the darkness in his mind slowly fade. If the shared looks between him and Steve just over her head meant anything, he knew Steve felt the same way.
"My apartment is just down the street. You don't have to walk me to the door."
"Trying to get rid of us?" Steve asked.
She just laughed and shook her head. "When did I become so lucky to have three such handsome gentlemen to escort me home?"
"When you slugged a guy to defend us." Bucky caught her eye and winked. "You're stuck with us now."
 "I'm not complaining."
One moment they all are laughing and talking like the best of friends. In the next moment, everything changed.
 A shot rang out.
Bucky could feel the bullet whizz between his and Lydia's head.
 Shit.
In a split second all three guys went into defense mode. Steve grabbed Lydia, shielding her with his body as he pushed her against a brick wall in a side alley. Immediately, Bucky and Sam flanked him on either side. Without a word, Bucky pulled out a pistol for both Steve and Sam, handing them over, then retrieved one for himself. He knew after this, Steve would criticize the amount of weapons on him for just a run to the bar. Bucky did not plan on sharing about the amount of knives on him additionally. He did not want to worry Steve that much. The less he knew in this case, the better.
His eyes scanned the nearby rooftops. The trajectory of the bullet showed the shooter was somewhere above them. At least that narrowed his search. Somewhat. On the other hand, he doubted they acted alone. Why give away their position? Did the shooter just have terrible aim? Were their others? Why the hell did this have to happen now?
His breathing slowed, senses on high alert, eyes trained for any movement. He waited, listening intently for any sign of back-up. Quickly peeking around the corner, he noticed the side road they were on was deserted. It consisted of several closed stores on the side they had been walking on and across the street was apartment complexes. Logically there should have been someone walking around at this time. It was NYC, there was always someone awake. His eagle-eyes scanned around them, searching desperately for wherever that bullet originated from. Or for the others bound to be laying in wait somewhere around here.
 He hated being shot at.
"Sniper, my ten o'clock. Apartment building, top floor, third window in." He reported, glancing behind him at the others after another peek around the side.
Sam faced the opposite way, keeping an eye on the other side of the alley, but nodded at Bucky's report.
Steve hovered over Lydia, who was crouched on the dirty ground. His eyes swept over the area and the switch from casual Steve Rogers to righteous Captain America was evident. Most likely wishing he had his shield.
 "HYDRA?"
"Not sure." Bucky replied, grip tightening on his pistol. Of course when they were having a great time, those bastards would show up. Damn it.  "You alright, doll?"
"Yea...yeah." She stuttered out, still crouched underneath Steve. Her eyes were wide but clear, breathing fast but manageable. His opinion of her increased. Although she seemed frightened, she was not panicking. A reaction most common in civilians being shot at for the first time.
Steve spoke to Bucky. "Think you can get him?"
 "Not here."
 "Go. We got your back."
Before he moved, a hand gripped his hoodie, surprising him. Following the hand that was holding him in place, he met her eyes.
"Be safe." She murmured, hazel eyes meeting his stormy blue in earnest.
"Just for you." With a wink, he slipped out the alley, keeping to the shadows and moved silently as a ghost.
It did not take long for him to get into position. He only wished he had his sniper rifle.  Climbing some rickety, metal stairs attached to the back of a store, he swiftly placed himself across from the sniper on a rooftop. If he had more time, he would have preferred to go into the apartment and silently kill the sniper, but for some odd reason he felt like he was working against the clock.
 Breath in.
Breath out.
Breath in.
Breath out.
Breathe in.
Bang.
Holding the smoking pistol in the direction of the apartment, he waited. There did not seem to be any further movement.  He wondered if he should go investigate, just to confirm. God, if this was HYDRA, he did not want to leave any civilians without protection. With the gunshots fired, he figured someone would have called the cops by now. Hopefully they would be useful with the civilians.
Racing back across the rooftop, he flew down the stairs ready to confirm the sniper's death. It was then a new sound drifted to him…and he bolted towards it. Heart racing within his chest.
 Please no. He begged silently.
He turned the corner to see where the fight really was. The sniper had only been a diversion. Something to force them into the intended alley.
They had played right into the enemy's hand.
Twelve guys in all black, faces covered, made the crowded alley even smaller. One was on the ground lying still, a pool of blood growing beneath his chest. Three were cornering Sam, taking turns attacking him with batons. Six were actively fighting Steve, trying to take him down using tasers, yet they were never able to subdue him fully.  Two had Lydia between them, both gripping one of her arms each as she struggled and thrashed to escape looking like a wildcat.
 Please no.
Bucky threw himself into the fight, fear and rage pouring into his blood to fuel him. He tackled one of the men cornering Sam, a knife slipping in between the man's helmet and Kevlar, blood spurting from his neck. Bucky rolled off him, and in two strides jabbed a knife into the back of the knees of one of Steve's attackers. The man dropped, howling and unable to stand. Another swipe and kick brought another man under his knife, blood oozing where a kidney was.
"Lydia!" Steve cried, throwing one of his attackers against the brick wall behind him.
The two men were trying to manhandle her into a doorway but her twisting, kicking and flailing made it difficult.
Bucky threw his bloodied knife into the thigh of one of them. The man stumbled, almost dropping Lydia, who cried out at the harsh treatment. Before the other man could raise his own pistol, Bucky grabbed it with his metal hand and crushed the end. Pure rage filled him at the thought of them trying to take her. He punched the man, now holding the useless gun, in the side of the head with his metal arm. The man dropped like a rock. The pistol bounced on the ground when it fell from his hand.
In a fluid motion, Bucky yanked the knife out of the other man's thigh and kicked him in the head. The man's head rocked back further than humanly possible with a cracking sound.
Silence hung over the alley after Steve and Sam knocked out or killed their attackers. Bucky stood there for a long moment, surveying the carnage around him, and trying to steady his breathing. His hands shook slightly. Blood was splattered on his black hoodie and jeans. It had been so easy -too easy- to take the lives of those men. Even though he did it to protect Steve, Sam and Lydia...his hands never felt clean. Would he ever be clean? Would he always be a monster?
 "Bucky?"
His rage evaporated at the soft whimper of his name.
"It's ok, doll. I got you." He pulled her into his arms, away from the bodies of the men who tried to take her. Her arms wrapped around his neck, her face buried in his chest while his own arms held her close. She trembled but if it was from fear or fading adrenaline, he was unsure. Murmuring soothing words to her, he ran a hand up and down her back in comfort.
Why did this have to happen tonight?
He glanced back over to see the spread of bodies on the ground, all wearing black clothing that looked vaguely military. Nothing like what HYDRA usually wore. Sam was on the phone, probably calling the fellow Avengers for clean up and to scout the area. Steve was stepping over the downed men, coming to his side.
 "Are you hurt?"
Bucky shook his head, his eyes scanning over his best friend. "You good?"
 "Yeah, she ok?"
Lydia turned her head, reaching an hand out to place on his forearm. "I'm fine...thank you."
Steve patted her hand on his arm but did not remove it. He glanced around once more before meeting Bucky's eyes. "This doesn't...these men don't seem like HYDRA."
"I noticed. Wrong weapons and fighting tactics. More like mercenaries."
"Mmmm." He rubbed the back of his neck before looking at Lydia, still in Bucky's arms. "They seemed pretty intent on taking you. Any reason why?"
That question had itched at Bucky too. HYDRA would be more interested in taking himself and Steve. She had been the focus of this attack. He shuddered to think what would have happened if they let her walk home alone.
 "No...no...I don't recognize them."
"It was a long shot. Well I think you should stay with…" suddenly Steve's eyes widened and he recoiled. A second later, blood soaked his white t-shirt in the middle of his chest.
Then the sound of a muffled shot rang out in the alley.
Bucky glanced over to see one of the downed men Steve had been fighting, on his knees, pistol extended. He staggered to his feet and took off back on the side road.
"Sam!" Bucky cried, pointing to the escaping man.
The Falcon did not hesitate. He raced after the man, a snarl on his face, eyes determined.
Turning back to his best friend, disbelief clouded his mind as he saw all the blood soaking Steve's shirt.
 No.
 No.
 NO!
Steve placed a hand on his chest, a dazed look on his face as he pulled it back and watched the blood drip off his skin. Ever so slowly, he dropped to his knees, still staring at his hand.
"No, no, no! Damn it, Steve! NO!" Bucky moved to his side, practically ripping the leather jacket off Steve's shoulders and tearing the t-shirt in two to see how extensive the injury was. The bullet had entered Steve's upper back, almost hitting his spine and exited the middle of his chest, leaving a gaping hole. Blood poured out, leaving trails of red on Steve’s torso.
 "Sorry, Buck."
"No, no. Don't you start that shit. You'll be fine. Damn super soldier shit is good for something." He tried to staunch the blood flow with Steve's ripped shirt but the training in the back of his mind told him it was useless. His lungs would be filling with blood now. It would take a miracle to save him. Yet Bucky did not stop his first aid. He refused to let his best friend die. He couldn't...he could not live without Steve. They had only just found each other again. He couldn't...God, please no, not Steve...he had to live. Bucky was not ready to be alone again.
Lydia slipped to Steve's other side. Gently she took his bloody hand and clasped it between her own. Tears coated her cheeks as she watched.
 "Buck…"
"No, stop talking. Everyone is on their way. Sam called them. It'll be fine."
 "I need you to…"
"Nope, don't even start trying that speech."
Steve rolled his eyes, blood beginning to taint his lips. "Jerk."
 "Punk."
"Steve, look at me." Lydia stated. Both soldiers watched her, her commanding tone unable to ignore. "You're going to be alright but you'll still need to rest for a while, ok?" She glanced over at Bucky, a fire burning in her eyes. "Hold him steady."
 What?
He did not have time to question her before the strangest thing happened.
Lydia leaned forward and pressed her lips to Steve's bloodied ones. One of her hands cradled the back of his head, as her kiss deepened. Even on the brink of death, Steve had no problem reciprocating. His bloodied hand cupped her cheek, leaving behind a stain on her skin. Their lips moved as if they had done this before...no hesitation...no awkward fumbling… What started off as a soft caress was turning into something more heated.
Bucky momentarily felt like a voyeur and was beyond confused. Steve should be saving his breath, not exerting himself. Damn that looked like a great kiss though.
The kiss lasted only five seconds and when they separated, both were breathing heavy like it had been far longer. Her lips were tainted red now, but her eyes shone brighter like starlight caught in her irises.
She looked at Bucky, tears streaming down her cheeks unashamedly. "Take care of him." Quickly she leaned over Steve, grabbing a handful of Bucky’s  hoodie, and gave him a hard kiss on the lips before standing up and dashing away.
"What….LYDIA!" Bucky yelled after her, watching her run down the alley and turn onto another street. Part of him wanted to chase after her and demand answers but a cough from Steve diverted his attention.
 "Hey, it's ok. They will…."
"Look." Steve interrupted, motioning at Bucky's hand.
He glanced down to see scraped knuckles, probably from when he tackled one of the men. Not a big deal. The serum would heal them within a day. Yet they were healing...immediately...right before his eyes. Within seconds, they looked completely normal, only Steve's blood marred them.
 What?
Immediately, Bucky pulled the torn shirt from Steve's chest, gaze locked onto the exit wound that would surely kill his best friend. A gush of blood should have resulted from the compact being removed from the wound, blood allowed to flow freely once again. Yet nothing happened. Dried blood caked his chest turning a dark red but there was nothing bright red...nothing fresh.
 "Holy shit."
In the next moment, Bucky felt as if the world tilted off its axis.
The wound slowly began to heal. Muscle and skin grew and reattached. The once graying complexion that Steve wore was returning to a healthy pink. His breathing deepened, not short, rapid breaths of dying lungs. Steve's blue eyes stared at Bucky, mouth gaping open. Curious and a bit frantic, Bucky peeled the shirt off Steve's back to see the entry wound. Both holes, once profusely bleeding and killing his best friend now looked like they were weeks healed. Some redness around the sites and fresh skin sealing the holes but still tender.
 WHAT?!?!
"Steve…." He did not know what else to say. His oldest friend, his best friend, his brother...he was dying...and Bucky could not save him. It was his worst nightmare come to pass. The very thing he dreaded most. Now though…
Steve stared back at him wide-eyed before turning his head to look down the alley where Lydia fled. "She healed me….she saved…" He looked back at Bucky. "Who is she?"
 "I'm not sure…"
 "We need to find her."
Steve started to get up but Bucky pushed him back down. "You were just shot, punk. She said to rest."
"We can't let her get away! What if more of these mercenaries find her?!"
"We'll look for her. Wait till the others get here. I'll go with Sam." Bucky held Steve's gaze until he relented, slumping back onto the unforgiving, concrete ground.
The sounds of the city enveloped the quiet of the alley- car horns, sirens blaring, someone singing loudly the next street over. The two sat there, waiting and thinking. Both of their minds struggling to fully comprehend what just happened but desperate to chase after her.
"You just want another kiss, huh?"
Steve chuckled, rubbing a hand over his chest and wincing. "That was some kiss. It felt like electricity going through my veins."
Bucky thought of his own quick peck and how it felt like a shock hitting him. "Yeah. That's some dame."
"Find her, Buck. I don't…" He sighed.. "It felt...no, she felt right."
All Bucky could do was nod. He prayed she stayed safe until they could find her. Something in his gut told him they needed her. He looked down the alley once more, wondering where she went and who she really was.

Some Like it Saucy
Tumblr media
Summary:  Cooped up in the compound while the team conference with Secretary ‘Toss-pot’ Ross, you decide to cook and decorate.  What better way to fill the team’s hearts and bellies than a Marrakech-themed evening with Bucky’s favourite food - Moroccan tagine.  He’s got other ideas for the perfect dessert though.
Words:  1.7k
A/N:  Written for @buckybarnesbeans leap year challenge filling the dialog prompt:  “Which one of you Bollocks thinks my chicken is dry?  You? You?”  (In bold).  This is a Bucky/Reader fic using my Suncatcher reader character... yes the one whose power is rainbows XD  Thank you @sassy-pelican for giving this a read to check for fuck-ups <3
Warnings:  Bad language.  Tiny bit of light smut / non-graphic smut. Light on reader insecurities towards the end.
Tumblr media
The living areas of the compound were quiet and hollow; the whole team was gone and you were left alone.  It felt eerie. Like the rest of the world had vanished and you were the sole inhabitant of a world once teeming with life.  You shivered at the thought of such endless solitude.
There were remnants of their existence, of course.  The alluring yet comforting smell of Bucky’s soap in your bathroom this morning, a half-drank mug of coffee on the common room table, a messily folded newspaper with a half-completed crossword puzzle, and an open packet of Tony’s favourite trail mix hidden in the magazine rack.  It wasn’t like they had been snapped out of existence or anything, they were all at a conference with Secretary Ross.
Dickhead, you thought.
Ever since that mission in London where you picked up some amusing English insults that you later took pleasure in using on Secretary Ross, your absence at debriefings and conferences involving him had been, let’s say, strongly advised.  Needless to say, Secretary Ross didn’t appreciate you calling him a wanker and telling him that he talked a load of bollocks.
It had been a fun mission though.  The team had been brought in to help MI5 foil a plot to steal the crown jewels and reunite the nine pieces of the famous Cullinan diamond, which occult conspiracy theorists say was a stone of great power.  Cullinan I, in particular, was an exquisite stone. Housed in the majestic sceptre with the cross, it had piqued your interest purely for its unusual refractive index; there was something about that stone, you could feel it with your powers as you pushed your influence through the security case to interact with the stone.
Goosebumps broke out across your skin and you shook yourself free of the memory.  The eeriness of the compound seemed to have increased since invoking the feeling of the power of the stone but you cast it aside as best you could, latching on to the annoyance you felt that Secretary Ross was robbing you of a lazy morning in bed with Bucky.  Tosser!
Boredom made your bones itch.  You needed to do something other than going back to your room to masturbate until everyone came back, so you decided to cook dinner.  Moroccan chicken tagine. It was one of Bucky’s favourite meals, and since everyone was suffering the presence of Secretary Toss-pot, you figured they deserved a reward.
Delicious smells of savoury meat, fragrant spices and sweet apricots filled the kitchen as the team emerged from the elevator.  You were finishing up by adding a handful of chopped coriander leaves to the tagine, humming a tune while you worked, when strong arms snaked around your waist and a beardy kiss pressed against your temple.  You’d know the feel and smell of Bucky anywhere.
“Hey, baby!”  You smiled and pressed back against him.  “How is Secretary Tosser?”
“You didn’t miss anything good.”  He chuckled in your ear, smooching down your neck only to pinch your skin between his teeth playfully.  You adored that you were both still very much in love after years of being together. “He finally fired that P.A. who wrote that you called him a wanker into the meeting transcript that time.”
“No!”  You gasped.  That woman was a legend in her own right.  “That’s fucking terrible -oooo! I hate that man!”
“Relax, Rainbow Brite,” Tony appeared beside you, “I hired her this afternoon so she’ll take notes for all of our meetings with Ross when he’s here.”  He beamed, lifting the lid of your tagine and groaning with pleasure as the steam rose. “That smells amazing.”
“Thanks boss.”  You grinned, feeling the fuzzy warmth of his praise and the dark satisfaction that Ross wouldn’t be able to bully that poor P.A. anymore.
“You made this?  Should I be worried?”  Tony feigned horror. “Barnes is still alive so your cooking can’t be all that bad-oof!”  He grunted as you flapped the back of your hand into his gut, hard.
“Stark!”  You growled in warning.
“Okayyy, good talk.”  He bolted with a cheeky grimace.
Bucky held you tight to his chest so you couldn’t give chase and assault Tony with your wooden spoon.  “Easy, tiger.” He turned you in his embrace and pressed a needy kiss to your lips, knowing just how to calm your fiery temper.
The team came together for dinner and you all sat on floor cushions around a low table to eat.  You had enlisted the help of Vision to create your Marrakech themed night and you had both outdone yourselves.  Cannibalising one of the conference rooms had been a stroke of genius and, in your opinion, it was a far better use for the room than boring meetings.  The dim glow of the ornate iron lanterns and the holographic fire courtesy of FRIDAY, the makeshift marquee made from brightly coloured fabrics, the smell from the food you’d made, and the soft but authentic music made you feel like you’d stepped through a portal into a souk lounge in the heart of Morocco.
“Next time, let’s not invite the others.”  Bucky murmured in your ear as he leaned in to give you a kiss after you had all settled and began to eat.  “I want you,” his voice husky with need, “right here on these cushions.”
You swallowed hard, looking around to see if anyone had caught his words, excited by his brazen proposition.  Chatter and laughter continued around you, oblivious to your rising blush.
“Naked and wrapped in colourful silks.”  His lips brushed the tender skin below your ear and you shivered, setting a short-lived prismatic display of your power against the fabrics hanging around the group.  You felt his smirk, he was doing this on purpose. “Satin skin under my hands, hot and needy as I love you so painfully slow.”
“Bucky…”  You sighed wantonly as the imagery overtook you.
You could almost feel him stroking his hands up your legs as they parted for him, silk kissing your skin as he bared your body to the air.  Goosebumps despite the warmth of a real fire, and the golden glow mirroring the fire in his eyes. Each gasp. Each sigh. They were percussion to the music he played with your body.  Sweat-slicked skin adhering you two together as hips rolled and pleasure filled you to bursting. His hands, both firm and gentle, exploring and worshiping you like you were Aphrodite herself.  Never truly allowing you to come down from the heights he drove you to, never relenting his most devoted worship, not even when the names of other gods spilled from your lips and you cried out in ecstasy so loud you could split the sky.
“Miss Sun?”  The words feel foreign; soft but still plenty sharp to snap you back to reality.
You’d eaten with the team, smiled at them when they’d thanked you for making a wonderful dinner, and had been clearing away dishes in a complete daze.  Across the kitchen, Bucky smirked at you from where he was piling plates into the dishwasher. That little shit knew exactly what he’d done.
“Miss Sun?”  Vision looked concerned as he laid a hand gently on your shoulder.  “Is everything alright?”
“I’m good.”  You mentally shook yourself, making a mental note to torment Bucky later.  “I’m aaaalll good.”
Vision nodded curtly, pausing a moment before he addressed the reason he’d approached you in the first place.
“I’ve taken the liberty of suggesting an amendment for your tagine recipe, to increase the sauce to meat ratio while leaving the delicate balance of flavours intact.”
“Why?  What’s wrong with my recipe?”
“Nothing is wrong.”  He smiled warmly. “A comment was made that more sauce would have been welcome.”
“More sauce, huh?”  You slid your tray of crockery onto the nearest counter and picked up a tray of baked spiced orange pastries and mint sugared pineapple pieces.  “I’ll take it under advisement.”
When you delivered dessert and settled on your cushion next to Bucky, he squeezed your thigh reassuringly as the chatter quietened while the team tucked into the delicious moist pastries.  He was about to tell you he was proud of you for not allowing your irritation to flare but he didn’t get the chance. He knew you were insecure, underneath the foul mouth and the bravado was a girl who needed reassurance that she was more than just good enough.
“So…”  You cocked your head as the eyes of the whole team fell on you.  “Which one of you bollocks thinks my chicken is dry?”  You pointed your spoon around the table starting at Sam.  “You?” He was always the first to talk shit, even if it was just a joke.  “You?” Natasha fell under your gaze.
“No one said it was dry, sweetie.”  She smiled kindly, seeing your outburst for what it was – you really needed to know you’d done a good job.  You’d felt useless being stuck at the compound while the rest of the team had meet and greets with officials.  No matter how boring they really were, you felt left out. You’d had Vision for company but he didn’t share your feelings. “I just said I’d kill for more of that awesome sauce and Vision, being the pragmatic type, figured he’d save lives and help you update the recipe.”
You huffed a little but relaxed as Bucky laid his arm across your shoulder.  “You know she likes things a bit saucy, babe.” He chuckled.
“She’s not the only one.”  You whispered and elbowed him in the ribs playfully, earning a wink from him.  “Earlier you said something about silk and sex, and I expect you to deliver.”
Bucky was up on his feet immediately, pulling you up and slinging you over his shoulder while you squealed in protest.  “If you’ll excuse us,” he addressed the room, “we have a recipe to discuss.”
“Sounds like a recipe for buns in the oven.”  Sam scoffed around a mouthful of pineapple.
“Don’t tempt fate.”  Nat scolded.  “They haven’t multiplied yet.”
Bucky snagged one of the silks that made up the make-shift marquee and waved the red and orange material like a flag as he carried you giggling from conference room Marrakech.  He was a man of his word and you could expect nothing but exquisite adoration.  Your skin tingled with anticipation.  The silk.  His hands.  His lips and tongue.  You moaned lustfully.
As the door of your room closed firmly and you were laid gently on your bed, the love in his eyes engulfed you whole.

Headcanons for being Tony Stark’s Daughter (The Aftermath)
Tony Stark x daughter!reader
warnings:
a/n: y/n is about 17 or 18; i cried while writing this. sorry this is really long!!! pls forgive me 🥺
prompt: takes place from a3 to smffh
The Early Years (1) The Teenage Years (2) The Intense Years (3) Continued (5)
Tumblr media
let’s start on a happy note! ahahah
so for a while, earth was calm
you, pepper, and tony got to be a family for a while
wedding planning!
of course you got to try the ben&jerry’s ice cream named after your dad: Stark Raving Hazelnuts
“it’s not fair that you got ice cream named after you and i didn’t”
“well, when you grow up to be as awesome as me, maybe you’ll get your own ice cream flavor”
developing nanotech suits together for a Bonding Experience(tm)
speechless after the first test
“dad, this is...”
“the coolest thing to ever exist?”
“yes!!”
yall ready for some shit?
the day that ebony maw invaded was pretty—what’s the word? interesting? no. well, yes, but...HORRIBLE.
it all started when you got the call from your dad
“y/n, incoming call from ‘big fat meanie’”
“god, i really have to change that. okay, JOSHIE, answer it. hey, dad? what’s up?”
“hey, kid! you know that weird ass building on bleecker street? how fast can you get here?”
“JOSH can you track FRIDAY really quick? lets see how far dad is...uh, okay, be there in five, see ya”
taking your suit for a spin and realizing how GREAT it was to be able to basically fold up your suit and put it in your back pocket
knocking on the door and it opened on its own, it was kinda cool
“is this a museum? cool.”
bruce turning around to see you after about three years and giving you an awkward smile and a wave while you stood frozen around the wizard-guys
“y/n, god, you’ve grown up!”
charging into him for a long overdue hug
“you don’t know how much i missed you. it’s been chaotic without you”
“i can...i can only imagine”
a debriefing on the situation you were about to face, and bonus! having to play the catch-up game with bruce
“just call him, dad. we need as much help as we can. steve will understand”
rushing outside to face off with some ugly-ass aliens
“oh nooo, it’s roger smith from american dad”
bruce: 👀, stephen: 👀, wong: 👀, tony: 👏👏🥰 that’s my girl
simultaneous nanosuit unveiling
“you ready for this one, pops?”
“of course! ive waited years to kick some more alien ass”
montage of you and tony getting your asses beat together (as a family <3)
peter showing up
“give me one good reason why i shouldn’t send you back to that school bus”
“because i’m good company?”
“whatever, just listen to whatever dad has to say, i forfeit my responsibilities over you”
pew pew, repulsors, pew, tiny rockets! fun! action! destroying new york again and again. good times...
until JOSHUA gave you notice that your dad was flying high
“call him. now.”
“hey! how’s it going down there?”
“dad, you know how i feel about you and space”
“i know, i know. i just...i gotta take care of this. keep pepper safe for your old man, okay?”
“i lo—l—ve y—”
“y/n? y/n?! i love you! shit!”
“we lost connection with her, sir”
trying to call peter
“call failed, y/n. should i try again?”
“i’m gonna kill them...”
walking through the rubble to find bruce, the only sensible man you know
taking him to the avengers compound asap to get to rhodey and figure out what comes next
meanwhile, tony was dealing with space and another teenager
and worrying a lot about leaving you on earth
“i mean, mr. stark, y/n’s one of the most capable people i know. she’s probably trying to fix this whole mess as we speak”
“i didn’t get to tell her i love her”
“oh...”
having a lovely meeting with thaddeus ross with rhodey, having a lovely time watching them passive-aggresively argue until your former teammates arrived
having to patiently (and professionally) wait for ross to hang up before running into them for a hug
“holy shit, you guys have no idea how bad i’ve wanted to see you. it sucks not being all together anymore”
“i know, y/n. we’ve all missed you.” -cap
“a lot” -nat added
bruce’s little entrance that was sure to bring some awkwardness
you, secretly freaking out about your dad
sam was the one that found you crying after you “stepped out” for a few minutes too long
“oh, y/n,” he was contemplating grabbing someone else to step in, but decided to sit next to you in the hallway, “i’m sorry, kiddo. i can’t promise you anything, but your dad is a fighter. a big pain in the ass. i think your odds are good”
laughing through your tears
“yeah, you’re right. thanks, sammy”
he gave you a little hug while you calmed down
getting to business, the ass-kicking kind
as the wise natasha romanoff once said to your father, you were being “uncharacteristically non-hyper verbal”
your mind did this funny thing...wandered into places it really should not go
the talk about sacrificing vision led to wakanda, where you had a swell time patrolling
“guys! we’ve got incoming. a lot of incoming”
well-deserved uncle/niece team up. who wouldve thought?
you would have nightmares about these aliens for years to come
“you get to die, and you get to die! everybody gets to die!”
“y/n, what did we talk about?” -rhodey
“using humor as a defense mechanism makes the team uncomfortable...”
covering the girls 😌 because we gotta have those all-girl teamups, uh-huh?
some more blasting
thor made his comeback and you just could not miss it
“hi, thor!”
you landed next to him and your helmet receded
“well, hello, miss y/n! good to see you again! my, you got taller...oh! meet my friends: rabbit and tree”
having a “what the actual fuck” moment upon seeing thanos for the first time
and flying at him from behind with a massive nanotech blade ready to kill this purple bastard
but he grabbed your arm and flung you into the dirt, that was gonna leave a mark
“i just had to make a suit when i was ten...no one stopped me, huh? i couldn’t be elon’s kid, he was a nice guy”
watching thanos snap his fingers and looking around to see dust floating through the air and thanos retreat
“rhodey? uncle rhodey?!”
“i’m right here, kid, don’t worry”
he grabbed your hand while you were dusting
“tell my dad i love him, promise?”
fading away and leaving rhodey with your last words
he was mad before anything else
all he could think about was a promise your dad made him take years back
“rhodey, you keep my daughter safe no matter what, promise?”
the avengers recooperating at the compound, waiting to figure out whether any of the space-crew survived
they had to let pepper know that you didn’t make it, she was a mess upon hearing that news
tony finally making his way back to earth
and stumbling out of that ship
“where’s y/n? where is she?!”
“tony, tony, calm down”
“dont tell me to calm down! where is my daughter?!”
“she made me promise to tell you thay she loves you”
tony knew the answer by now, he lost his mind over your death
it didn’t feel right not having you by his side, for the past 18 years you’ve been with him
after a long period of recovery, tony and pepper moved on, got married, built a home, had a new daughter...
tony made sure there was a spare room for you
he put all the things you left behind in it
there were so many photos of you in the house
and he’d show your sister, morgan, all of them. he wanted morgan to know her sister
“that’s y/n when she built her first robot. it snuck up on me a few times. it went ‘boo!’”
morgan loved the stories about you, but she didn’t understand why she couldn’t see you
“when do i get to meet her?”
“uh...maybe someday, sweetie”
after being unbothered for almost 5 years, the remaining avengers came back with a plan that was so tempting, he just wanted his little girl back
cracking under pressure and telling pepper that he couldn’t ignore this mission because it was his chance to get you back
“get her back, tony”
“you think so?”
“i miss her, too.”
and so it began, he made it his mission to get you back
peeking at the wallet picture of you on his shoulders when you were so little
tony travelling to 2012; loki’s invasion
and there you were, the sassy genius 12 year old that he missed so much
“we’ve got this, tony, we’ll bring her home” -scott
and then things went badly and also 2012 tony went into cardiac arrest and 2012 y/n dove onto the floor to tend to him
“dad? give us some room, would you?!”
2023 tony smiling at how much he missed you worrying about him and how reckless he was
but also...the mission kinda went bad so that sucked
push it a bit farther back and now tony was with grandpa stark! asking how to be a dad and all that!
he could barely stand still waiting for you to come back to him, god he missed you more than he thought
and after a bit of hard work, it was time to snap
just like that, you were back in wakanda, puzzled by the gap in time before one of dr. strange’s portals opened in front of you
and then you were in the ruins of the avengers compound
“JOSHUA, can you locate my dad?”
“i think you’ll be able to see him”
“wow, i cant believe i programmed your cocky artificial ass”
“i think you can”
seeing your dad flying high and patching into the comms
“miss me, old man?”
and then he hit the gas to get to you and when this man hugged you, you almost couldn’t let go
“i’m so sorry, y/n. god, i’m sorry. these last five years...i was so lost without you”
“it’s okay, dad, i’m here now”
getting shot at during your reunion
“son of a bitch...we’re having a family moment here, asshole!”
yes, im gonna say it again. of course i am! and.........father/daugher team-up
the last one
“peter, is that you? you asshole! i cant believe you went to space without me!”
“missed you too!”
rhodey!! cant forget about uncle rhodey!!
“you gave my dad the message, right?”
“it was your dying wish, of course i did!”
“great. don’t forget i love you, too, rhodey!”
“couldn’t let me forget it”
lest we forget that pepper joined the fight?
plot twist: (step)mother/daughter team-up
mother/father/daugher team up!!!! ultimate stark machine!!!!!!!
and then you left him alone for 5 minutes and he’s got the infinity stones and you know it’s the last time you’re going to see him and you cant decide what your next move is and you’re just frozen and you cant catch your breath and he snaps and your heart plummets
you have to rush to his side, the last time you can sit beside his tired body and let him know that its going to be okay
“hey dad, it’s okay, we’re gonna be fine. thank you for everything”
peter grabbing your hand as you both sobbed next to your dad, feeling robbed of your time with him
pepper brought you home where she told you all about the five years you missed
both of you just cried harder than you’ve ever cried before
“so i have a sister?”
morgan was so happy to meet you, she couldn’t contain herself, practically latched onto you
and she didn’t fully understand what happened to tony
you saw your new room for the first time and didn’t leave it for a while, occasionally pepper or morgan would pop in
morgan actually crawled into bed with you a few times
the funeral was one of the worst days of your life
the remnants of your young life pulled back together for one day
then you hid back in your room before you heard a knock
“who is it?”
“it’s happy”
“come in”
“hey, kiddo. me and morgan are gonna get some cheeseburgers, you wanna come?”
she really was a stark
after a long hibernation, you started to get back into the groove of your old life
but the press was brutal and harsh, you were bombarded with questions regarding your dad
it took everything not to explode on camera
you stayed in contact with the rest of the avengers, mourning your dead, keeping the support system, staying a family
it was all you could get...for now

Rogue Avengers: Pt. 4
Adult Stuff
Word Count: 4925
Backstory: Y/N joined the 'New Avengers' as the superhero Tidal (OC) when she was 14 and a sophomore, she skipped a grade, joining Peter Parker at Midtown. Y/N was previously put under the guardianship of Fury after her parents died when she was 11 and is living with her "Uncle" Tiny (oops sorry she means Tony). Y/N is adopted by Stark and they live happily ever after, until a year later. Steve and his crew have been pardoned. Bucky who now goes by James, has been forgiven by Tony and now resents Steve for bringing him in this mess. He is annoyed about the pardon, Tony is not happy about it, Y/N is furious and Peter is scared of what his girlfriend will do to them. What will happen when they arrive? Read to find out!
Pt. 1 | Pt. 2 | Pt. 3
Tumblr media
"OK." As Y/N turned to Scott, the door opened again and Rhodey stepped into the room, sliding into a seat gracefully.
He glanced quickly around the table, nodding to each of them in turn. "I apologize for being late," he said.
Y/N shrugged. "We were just getting to it," she said. Her attention returned to the group as a whole. "Look, a lot happened to get us all where we are right now, affecting several sovereign countries, the European Union, the UN, the United States, and individuals. There's no single entity that handles everything, and frankly there's pretty much no chance that everyone would agree regardless. If you're thinking that there's some kind of magical all-encompassing all-nations 'pardon', you're wrong, there is no such thing, and if you're looking for unicorns go watch My Little Pony. So what you're going to hear is going to be broken down into those different areas."
Romanoff leaned back a little in her chair, her mouth tightening further. She was starting to get it, though Hope doubted that she had any idea of the scale. There was a lot they didn't know.
"Just get to the grovelling already, L/N," Wilson pretended to examine his fingernails. "You have a schedule to keep, remember?"
Y/N gestured at Lang. "You. First, the sovereign nations and EU. Germany is very upset with you." She smiled thinly. "You are officially barred from entering Germany – or anywhere else in the European Union. Frankly, the fact that no one really knows who you are is the only thing currently saving your ass and keeping Germany from sending a retrieval squad after you, thanks to several billion dollars' worth of damage you personally caused at the Leipzig Airport. Fortunately for you, the insurance companies have decided that Pym Technologies makes a better target for their lawsuits. Even with that, you're facing charges in Germany of illegal entry, destruction of property, criminal endangerment, assault and battery, flight from prosecution and escaping prison. Tony left the part where you tried to kill him by disabling the suit during flight from his report. Still, Germany is willing to stay the charges except for the property damage. If you return to the US permanently, you won't be extradited – Germany has agreed to deal with you in absentee."
Lang looked as though he'd just been hit with a bat. The smile was gone and his face had gone dead white. Rhodes was staring at him murderously – apparently Tony hadn't mentioned Lang trying to kill him before now, and Rhodes seemed to be considering how to dismember him with the power of his brain. Hope added her own glare to his.
Lang muttered, "I wasn't trying to kill him!"
Y/N continued inexorably. "I just said he left that part out... The US has revoked your passport and has issued a warrant for your arrest for your parole violation. Since Pym Technologies is currently using the defense in the lawsuits that their technology was used without their knowledge or permission, the warrant includes additional charges of grand larceny."
"What... what about the Accords?" Lang swallowed hard, looking at Clint desperately.
"Scott..." Hope shook her head slowly and then gentled her tone. "Scott. The UN reviewed your information and the council does not feel that you're a suitable candidate for the Avengers. But they are willing to consider you if Y/N decides she wants you on the team."
"Lang held his own against Tony, War Machine, and Vision," Rogers glared. "How does that not make him a original candidate? If it's because of his past and the whole jail thing..."
"No," Rhodey interrupted. "He used stolen technology that he had nothing to do with creating and that does not require specialized skills to operate." He stopped abruptly and focused his gaze on Lang instead of Rogers. "Pardon me. You used stolen technology. You have no powers, and you have no other specialized skills that translate into qualifying for the Accords. If you want to try and become affiliated with a local group rather than the international one, then go for it. But without the suit – and Pym Technologies has disabled the one you had – I don't expect it to happen."
"You said... you said that we had options." Lang's eyes snapped back to Y/N's face pleadingly.
Y/N kept it brutally short. "You could stay on the run. But you should be aware that staying in Wakanda will be a lot more difficult than it was before. And if I can offer you some advice – if you take that option, stay the fuck away from Germany. And from anyone Germany talks to. But I am considering letting you on the team."
Lang buried his face in his hands.
"Stark is such an asshole," Wilson exploded. "None of this would have even happened if it weren't for him."
"Oh yeah?" The sudden rage in Y/N's voice caught Peter, and from the way they startled everyone else, by surprise. "Tony didn't call him. Tony didn't drag him out of state and force him to violate his parole. Tony didn't dress him in a suit that he didn't own, and Tony certainly didn't make him destroy more than a billion dollars' worth of Leipzig Airport. He wasn't an Avenger, and wasn't a candidate for the Accords. No one has ever even heard of him. Out of everyone around this table, he's the one who had no goddamned reason to even be there." She glared at Lang's bowed head. "Seriously, what the fuck were you thinking?"
Rogers's chin was lifted stubbornly. "We'll deal with this, Scott, don't worry."
"We will make sure she let's you on the team," Maximoff agreed, her voice dark.
Natasha and Clint just rubbed Scott's back reassuringly, not knowing why all of a sudden Rogers was defending him
Wilson crossed his arms over his chest. The 3 looked irritated.
Strange wanted to slap them all.
Lang just huddled tighter in on himself.
Y/N sighed and brought her temper back under control. "I have retained a lawyer on your behalf," Hope told Lang quietly. "A good one." Lang nodded once looking up at Hope for a couple of seconds and Y/N shifted to Romanoff.
"Aunt Nat."
She tensed visibly, meeting her eyes sadly.
"I get it, you know. Why you let them go. You told Tony – Steve wasn't going to stop." Vision saw Rogers flinch out of the corner of her eye. Y/N ignored it. "It's the same reason that some police forces won't participate in high speed chases anymore – because the risk to civilian life is too high to support pursuit."
"Yes," she said.
"I wish that you'd considered what it meant that you let them go, though. That it meant that both Rogers and Barnes have a world-wide shoot on sight – shoot to kill – order on them, for all US forces."
"What?" Wilson sat bolt upright.
"Yeah," Rhodes grinned sharply, all teeth. "Step outside, Rogers. I dare you."
"We could always work on getting that order rescinded later," Romanoff said smoothly. Even though she was mad at them, they've been friends for a while, "Wakanda, on the other hand, needed there King alive."
T'Challa looked mildly offended.
"You're all stupid," Peter muttered.
"And you pissed off General Ross... who is also Secretary of Defense Ross. Who is known for a lot of things, none of which is his forgiving nature. And he talks to the President every day." Y/N sighed again. "Ms Romanoff," Y/N said formally, having gotten rid of the aunt Nat already, "Your US citizenship has been revoked, and you are no longer welcome in the United States unless you make a choice. The UN Council is interested in having you rejoin the Avengers under the Accords, but since you were an original signatory and then aided in the escape of a fugitive, you would be facing punitive action under Section twenty-two point six. If you elected to work with the Avengers, you would be allowed to stay in the U.S. but that's your choice."
Romanoff blinked, the only indication of her surprise. Barton gasped in shock and the others reared back. "How were her actions at the airport treason?" Wilson demanded.
"SHIELD was an agency of the US government, under the Department of Defense. When you released all of SHIELD's files online, you committed treason against the US government," Vision explained quietly. "They haven't added in any charges yet related to the deaths that came from that decision, but if Ross ever actually reads the summary report that SHIELD prepared on the topic you likely will be."
"I testified before Congress about that," she said tightly. "There were no charges brought."
"There's no actual statute of limitations on treason," Rhodey said.
Y/N shrugged. "They seem to have collectively either remembered the nineties or gone and watched 'A Few Good Men', because your approach of 'you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall' isn't flying the way it used to. If you sign the Accords, the charge of treason will be stayed, but you'll still be allowed in the U.S."
She frowned. "If I don't sign?"
"If you don't, then you don't. You're facing charges under the Accords and in Germany for aiding the escape of a fugitive, but you have a solid defense with the civilian protection angle. Otherwise you're free and clear outside of the US. Well, as free and clear as you can be without citizenship anywhere, and avoiding countries with extradition agreements, but you're resourceful."
"This is bullshit," Rogers growled loudly. Barton was tempted to agree, but didn't want to make things worse since he hasn't done anything drastic and wants to keep it that way.
"I feel exactly the same way," Rhodes shot back. "The fact that we're here at all is a goddamned joke."
"Wanda," Rhodey said, and immediately all eyes were on him. "I... Hmm." He tapped his fingers against the tabletop for an instant. "I need to apologize to you." The shock on her face almost made Peter laugh, but Rhodey seemed oblivious to it. "I should have had Tony tell you that you needed to stay at the Compound because your US visa was in jeopardy. I should have told you that we were concerned that you could be attacked and that you might be forced to defend yourself, which would have resulted in more injured civilians and the end of your visa in the USA. I thought that you knew enough about what had happened to know why you should stay in for a while, but I didn't take the time to discuss it with you and I should have. I realize that lack of context contributed to your belief that you were imprisoned at the Compound. You didn't know what was going on, and you didn't know that it was temporary. I'm sorry."
Maximoff was speechless.
"None of that excuses your actions," Peter interjected. "Violence isn't actually one of your options outside of a sanctioned operation, you know that, right? Physically attacking someone who was trying to protect you is flat out wrong no matter what you did or didn't know. You attacked Vision physically when he had taken no actions at all against you, you did hundreds of thousands of dollars of damage to the Compound, and at Leipzig Airport you outright tried to kill Tony."
She flushed angrily.
"Seriously," Strange shook his finger at her, then at all of them including Vision and Rhodey. "You people need to learn to use your damned words." Y/N was not in the least surprised when his finger stopped on Rogers. "Punching something is not a first resort!"
"Ms Maximoff. You are barred from entry in Germany and are not welcome anywhere in the European Union," Strange told her evenly. "Should you attempt to enter the EU, you will be facing charges relating to the destruction of Leipzig Airport, illegal entry, attempted murder, and escaping custody." He took a deep breath. "The UN considers you a strong candidate for the Avengers, and should you elect to sign the Accords, Germany has agreed to drop the criminal charges against you as a gesture of good faith. Should you join the Avengers, you would still not be permitted to enter the EU. If you decide to sign the Accords, your US visa will be renewed.
"Further, since Sokovia has petitioned the European Union for membership, you also will not be able to return there. If you choose not to sign the Accords, then Germany will retain the criminal charges, and you will be subject to an international warrant and extradition."
The smirk fled. "I am not going to prison," Maximoff declared furiously. Her eyes glinted red.
"Then you should sign the Accords," Y/N told her calmly. She moved on to Wilson, apparently ignoring the way that Maximoff's hands glittered as they flexed against the tabletop. Rogers reached under the table to give her hand a supportive squeeze.
"Sam." Y/N's lips quirked into a tiny smile that Wilson didn't return. She seemed unfazed.
"Let me guess," Wilson said stolidly. "I'm not welcome in Germany."
"You have charges pending in Bucharest for obstruction of police, aiding a fugitive, destruction of property, reckless endangerment, escape from custody, and flight from prosecution. In Germany, you're facing destruction of property, flight from prosecution, grand larceny, and aiding terrorist activities, and in both countries illegal entry."
Wilson's eyes flicked to Rhodes. "Not attempted murder?"
Vision shifted in his seat, and Rhodes straightened his shoulders. Harley spoke up. "Wilson... What happened to Colonel Rhodes was not your fault."
"If I hadn't..."
"You moved to evade a shot," Rhodes said clearly. "That's what you should do when someone is shooting at you. It's not your fault that I was on the other side of you and got hit instead. It's not Vision's fault that I got hit either. It just is. Shit happens."
Wilson looked away, his eyes suspiciously shiny.
"No. The charges do not include attempted murder, nor should they." Y/N continued after a moment. "After reviewing your information, the Accords council considers you a good candidate for the Accords, since you have experience with the Falcon wings and since your previous service as an Avenger was satisfactory. Since you were only minimally involved in the destruction of Liepzig airport, the German government is willing to drop the charges relating to destruction of property if you're willing to sign the Accords."
Wilson nodded curtly. "So, signing the Accords makes all the European charges go away?"
Peter shook his head. "No. Your chance to have the Romanian charges dropped by signing the Accords was gone when Steve refused the deal in Bucharest. Of course, compounding the problem by leaving custody when the Winter Soldier broke out didn't help."
"It took a lot of discussion to convince Germany to bend on their charges," Rhodes contributed. "The subsequent jailbreak after your capture in Germany really pissed them off."
"Pissed them off?" Wilson banged his fist on the table. "How about how their illegal incarceration pissed us off?"
Strange shook his head and looked as if he was going to ignore the interruption, but Rhodes put his hand on his arm to forestall him. "Oh, I wanna hear this."
"Me too," Hope leaned back a little in her chair. "This should be fascinating. Tell us about your illegal incarceration, Mr Wilson."
Wilson narrowed his eyes at her but didn't entirely rise to the bait. "After we were grabbed at Leipzig, we were thrown in prison without a trial, without seeing a lawyer. We were in the process of being fucking disappeared when we broke out."
Rhodes laughed out loud, making everyone jump. "No you weren't," he said. "You were part of a group of enhanced people who destroyed an airport while aiding the escape of an internationally wanted terrorist, who had already broken out of a secure facility. Of course you were put in jail – a jail that could hope to hold enhanced individuals – prior to arraignment on your charges. And arraignment takes some time to get to. We were working on bringing over some lawyers experienced in international law." He laughed again. "You've actually seen TV, right? You do know that arrested people go to jail? They don't just read you your rights and then release you again because you're totally nice enough to come back for trial?"
"Bucky is not an international terrorist!" Rogers's hands clenched in front of him. His knuckles stood out starkly against the tanned skin of his fingers and Hope could almost hear the bones in his hands creak.
Rhode's jaw tightened and again he shook his head rather than reply.
"In other words, Mr Wilson, you weren't being 'disappeared', although since the Raft was built by SHIELD I suppose you can be forgiven for thinking otherwise."Hope set her clasped hands on the table in front of her.
"You didn't see..." Sam started hotly.
Y/N interrupted. "We're getting off track."
Lang leaned over. "What did you mean, when you said that Steve turned down the deal in Bucharest? What deal?"
Harley frowned.
Rhodes leaned back in his chair, lips tugging into a smirk. "Did Steve not tell you about that?"
"Uncle Rhodey," Y/N murmured quietly and Rhodes subsided. Vision turned to Lang. "In the interests of 'using my words'," he shot a sideways glance at Rhodes, who inclined his head in acknowledgement, "when Steve, Sam and Barnes were apprehended in Bucharest, there was an offer made to forgive all charges and provide mental health assistance for Barnes in exchange for signing the Accords. Steve refused the deal, they all escaped custody, and we reconvened at Leipzig airport."
"What?" Lang whispered, his face dead white. He turned to Wilson. "You guys had the option of being forgiven for Bucharest, and for getting Bucky help to recover from his time with Hydra, and you didn't take it?"
"They wanted to kill Bucky," Rogers replied in a tone that meant that he was barely holding on to his temper. "They sent a helicopter with a chain gun after him in Bucharest, and they didn't care who else they hit, either." He lifted his head and Peter felt a little burst of adrenaline at the fury in his eyes.
"I feel I must point out that it wasn't some nebulous 'them' that actually had Barnes in Bucharest when you refused the deal," Rhodes said calmly. "It was us."
"And you did a great job protecting him, didn't you?" Rogers gritted out. "Considering that he was triggered by the psychiatrist that you brought in to assess him."
"Off track," Y/N singsonged, rapping the table. She spoke to Lang, "yes, they had the option – before the Winter Soldier was triggered and escaped – and yes, they refused it."
Wilson was shaking his head. "To be fair," he said, "I wasn't offered anything and I didn't refuse anything."
Y/N turned to look at him, an arrested expression on her face. "That's true," she said slowly. "Tony spoke to Steve, not to you."
"I was considering it," Rogers added, "Until I learned that Wanda was... 'Confined' was Tony's word ... at the Compound."
"I would have liked the opportunity to consider it myself," Wilson said quietly. "You know I'm with you, Steve, whichever way you jump, but it should still have been brought to me too."
Lang was still shaking his head. "You could have resolved it all before you even called me. You didn't even have to call me."
"Hey, at least they did call us," Clint snapped after getting as angry as can be. "Unlike Stark, who figures we're beneath notice or something."
The tension in the room ratcheted up and Hope saw Rhodes tense.
"Is that what this has been about?" For the first time since she'd arrived, Y/N looked as though she was fully present. "Seriously? You're pissed because Tony didn't call you?" Her face was a mask of incredulity.
"Of course he didn't call me. I'm a washed up farmer and I didn't want to sign his precious Accords, right?" Barton's fists were tight, his voice bitter.
"He didn't call you because you were out, you dumb fuck!" Y/N exploded out of her seat, raking her hands through her hair. Peter looked like he wanted to stop her but he didn't. She paced a couple of steps before rounding back on Barton. "You really don't get it, do you? You had it! The brass ring was in your hands! You spent most of your life in a dangerous job, you faced a goddamned alien invasion and killer robots, and at the end of a glorious career you actually managed to retire and get to go home to your family! There was nothing on this earth that could have made him call you. He called a fucking fifteen-year old kid before he called you! Tony would have called me before he would have called you!" That wasn't true. Tony didn't even know about her then but that doesn't matter. She slumped back into his seat and stared into Barton's astonished face intently. "You have three little kids, Clint. Stark would die before he'd take their father from them like mine was taken from me. My parents died because a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent didn't care that it was a high risk mission and that they probably wouldn't come back. So when Fury got a phone call from that agent, he had to tell a 11 year old girl, that her parents died because no one cared that they had a child.
"But hey – you got called, and you answered, and I don't blame you for that," Y/N continued remorselessly. "But when you did that – when you showed up and took Wanda out of the Compound, when you hurt Vision and you went to Leipzig and you helped an internationally wanted terrorist escape custody, you took that life of service, that legacy and you destroyed it. You're a smart man, and you knew that it was all illegal, and you went and you did it anyway, and that's why you're where you are. You took your kids' father from them. And you're pissed at Tony because he didn't call you? I think that you should be fucking livid at them that they did."
Barton just stared at her silently.
Y/N took a seat and Peter put an arm around her.
"So, Mr Barton." Hope said carefully, mindful of the tension in the room and trying to get back to a calmer footing. "After review of your actions at Leipzig airport, Germany has elected to vacate the charges against you for property damage, since your contribution was minor compared to that of Scarlet Witch and Ant Man. You still face charges of assisting the escape of a fugitive, flight from prosecution, escape from custody, assault and illegal entry from your time there, and you are no longer permitted within the EU. The Accords council has not chosen to respect your wish to retire and does currently consider you a candidate for the Accords. If you serve 2 years as a Avenger, you can go back to your family. Germany has indicated that if you return to the US they will not pursue extradition, as long as you never attempt to enter the EU. If you choose to return to the US, you will be facing charges of domestic terrorism and property damage for the bomb you set off at the Compound, and assault for the attack on Vision."
"Vision is willing to request that the charges of assault be dropped," Rhodes said quietly, "if that helps you see your family." Vision nodded.
Barton covered his eyes with his hand.
Wilson took a deep breath. "So, if the Romanian charges are still in place for me, what does that mean?"
"No more Europe for you," Harley told him. "They're waiving extradition if you sign the Accords and return to the US, but trying you in absentee is as far as they're willing to go. If you choose not to sign the Accords, then there's no going home."
Wilson asked, "But if we have to, we can return to Wakanda, right?"
Strange shook his head no.
"Ok, Mrs. L/N, this has gone far enough." Rogers pushed his chair away from the table and stood. Y/N just tilted her head politely. "I understand that you wanted to make a point here, and that you wanted us to feel like you're doing us a favor by bringing us home, but threatening the King of Wakanda to not let us back in there? We know that you're here because the world needs us back. We know that you'll do whatever you have to do to get us back. All of this? This is just a show. Can you get to the real offers now?"
"Please, Steve, sit down," Peter gestured gracefully. Grudgingly Rogers complied. "Y/N did not say that he was threatened. We have, however, been informed of a new threat, one that has proven many of the things that I believed to be true a lie. One of those beliefs was that Wakanda was unassailable; it is not."
"A new threat! So you do need us." Maximoff smiled triumphantly.
T'Challa stepped out of the corner, unknown to anyone.
"I'm afraid not," T'Challa said. "But I do believe it is fair to say that we all desire to have any distractions out of the way. I do understand you hadn't intended to broach this subject today, Mrs. L/N, but perhaps we should do so nonetheless."
"It's Y/N, T'Challa, I am so much younger then you." Y/N said laughing. "Ok, fine. Wanda, you remember that image you showed Tony back in the Hydra base in Sokovia? Would you be able to share that with everyone?"
Hope frowned and saw it echoed on the other faces around her. Only Y/N remained serene.
"No," Maximoff said sweetly.
"Allow me." The voice, male with a clipped British accent, took them by surprise and they jumped; all but Y/N. They turned in unison to face the corner of the room where a bald, older man sat comfortably in a wheelchair with a calming smile on his face. "I am Doctor Charles Xavier, though you may call me Professor, and I apologize for startling you. I arrived late and chose not to interrupt the proceedings. I hope you don't mind." Hope felt her irritation wane and his smile widened as they all relaxed and no one objected, although Maximoff continued to eye him suspiciously. "Now," he turned the smile on Y/N. "I believe that you wanted everyone to be shown something?"
Y/N visibly steeled herself. "Good to see you Professor, thank you again for coming. I have prepared after watching the vision, and I am ready. So you can do it."
An instant later, Hope was awash in terror. Her stomach lurched and it was all she could do not to scream with it. Her gorge rose and she almost vomited. Her mind gibbered at her in a base panic. She could just barely make out Y/N's voice over the horror in her brain.
"Jesus, Charles, dial it back a little."
The fear subsided.
She was in space, staring at a vast armada of ships. Thousands upon thousands of ships, as far as her eye could make sense of. There were Leviathan-class Chitauri assault ships moving towards her gracefully, their pinpoint size providing a gauge for the stupendous size of the ships following them. An eye-searing flash of light flared within the nearest... carrier? She wasn't sure what nomenclature to use for them. She closed her eyes against the light, suddenly overcome with vertigo. She couldn't... she couldn't catch her breath. Why couldn't she breathe? She forced her eyes back open to see the remainder of that massive fleet; a single ship loss nothing against those incalculable numbers...
She took a deep whoop of air, suddenly back in the conference room, hearing the others cough and gasp as well. Y/N was wagging an admonishing finger at Professor Xavier, who looked completely unrepentant. "You asked for me to share Dr. Stark's experience in the Hydra bunker," he said, "At least I stopped with the wormhole."
The others were still heaving, and Hope saw with private glee that Lang was still swallowing hard, clearly fighting nausea. "Was that really necessary?" Rogers bit out.
"It was Tony's memory." Charles lifted an eyebrow at the growl he got in return. "And I did mute the emotions before passing them on. To be fair, his original experience was significantly worse."
Good God. That had been muted? And he'd had to relive it in that Hydra bunker? Hope found herself glaring at Maximoff, whose face was hidden by her hair.
Y/N gestured silently, and abruptly an image of that terrifying fleet of ships popped into existence above the table. They all leaned back from it as one, except T'Challa who craned his neck for a better look. "Fascinating," he said. "You are achieving this effect without technology."
"Indeed I am," was all that Professor Xavier said.
"This is what Tony saw through the wormhole," Y/N said, waving at the image. "This is what he's been working towards preparing for since the day the Chitauri attacked us. This is what led him to consider a solution like Ultron. And this, it turns out, is only a small part of the problem." She nodded at Professor Xavier, and the image changed to show an even greater fleet, with the uncountable Chitauri ships a mere fraction of the total. "This is what we currently have heading for Earth."
"Oh my God," Barton whispered. The others echoed him, horror etched on every face.

Beautiful Boy, Bathed in Disaster
As he laid dying in a Siberian bunker Tony Stark thinks about betrayals and broken promises. Left behind and half-dead he is faced with his worst nightmare.
Notes: This was literally written in hours, which is insane because usually I take forever to finish even a one shot. But this just flowed! The title comes from the song "In Loving Memory" by Chester Lockhart which played in repeat while I wrote this. I recommend you listen to it as you read it as well lol
There is a slight canon divergence as in my story, Pepper and Tony broke up after Iron Man 3 and Tony and Steve get together a little after Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Borrowed some quotes from other Avengers works, such as comics and AA
AO3 Link
"Mr. Stark."
"Captain."
-
"Is everything a joke to you?"
"Funny things are."
-
"Big man in a suit of armor... take that off, what are you?"
"Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist."
"I know guys with none of that worth ten of you. I've seen the footage, the only thing you really fight for is yourself. You are not the guy to make the sacrifice play, to lay down on a wire and let the other guy crawl over you."
"I think I would just cut the wire."
"Always a way out. You know, you may not be a threat, but you better stop pretending to be a hero."
"A hero? Like you? You're a laboratory experiment Rogers. Everything special about you came out of a bottle."

"What the hell! What just happened? Please tell me nobody kissed me."
"We won."
"Oh, alright, yay! Alright, good job guys! Uh, let's just not come in tomorrow. Let's just take a day. You ever try shawarma? There is a shawarma joint about two blocks from here. I don't know what it is, but I wanna try it."
"We are not finished yet."
"And then shawarma after?"
-
"Oh really you two knew each other? He never mentioned that...maybe only a thousand times. God, I hated you."
-
"Sometimes I wanna punch you in your perfect teeth, but I don't want to see you gone. We need you Cap."
-
"Winghead"
"Shellhead"
-
"You are walking a little funny Steve, next time you should establish a safe word." . . . "You are walking a little funny Tony, what was that you were saying about a safe word?"
"Hilarious."
-
"Wait a second, no one else gonna deal with the fact that Cap just said 'language'?"
"I know...It just slipped out."
-
"We'll lose."
"Then we'll do that together too."
-
"Sometimes my teammates don't tell me things."
-
"I don't trust a guy without a dark side. Call me old fashioned."
"Well let's just say you haven't seen it yet."
-
"How can you possibly hope to stop me?"
"Well, like the old man said: together."
-
"No way we all make it through this."
"I got no plans tomorrow night."
-
"I will miss you Tony"
-
"Tony, when I woke up on this era, I had no one. Nothing. You gave me a purpose, somewhere to belong...You gave me a home."
-
"You wanna survive you gotta change with the times."
"Spend a few decades frozen in ice, then we can talk about survival."
"Just say it, say 'Tony I'm afraid of new tech!' admitting you have a problem is always the first step."
"Gosh Mr. Big Brain, your modern tech is so gol-darn confusing. How does this contraption turn water into coffee? Is it coal power or is it a miracle?"
"Hmm, sarcasm must be a modern invention, because when you do it, it just sounds wrong."
-
"But, with my armor gone, all I can do is improvise. Steve, even without your shield, you're still captain America. Without my armor I'm just ..."
"Tony Stark, THE Tony Stark, billionaire, genius, you are probably one of the three smartest men in the entire world. You are as tough as they come, you invented hardcore. The avengers are lucky you are on our side."
"Really? you know two people smarter than me?"
"Can't you just take a compliment."
-
"I am not half as good at - at anything as I am when I'm doing it next to you. And that's the truth."
-
"I love you."
"I love you too."
-
"Good morning Beloved. Did anyone check the dumpster for Clint yet?"
"Funny you should ask that..."
-
"I love you."
"I love you too."
-
"I'm worried about you, if you don't get some sleep..."
"I slept for 70 years - "
"Yeah, you've used that line before."
"Leave me alone. I am a senior citizen."
-
"I love you."
"I love you too."
-
"He's my friend."
"So was I."
-
"Did you know?"
"I wasn't sure it was him--"
"Don't bullshit me Rogers! Did. You. Know?"
"Yes."
-
Images and memories flashed through Tony's mind as he laid on the cold floor of the abandoned Hydra base. The Siberian cold penetrating his suit as his mind raced.
Steve had known the truth about his parents' death for years. He'd known when they fought Ultron. He'd known when he gave Tony shit about keeping secrets, the fucking hypocrite. He'd known over a year ago, he'd known when he leaned over the table to kiss Tony. He'd known when they tumbled into bed that same night. He'd known for the rest of their relationship, even when he whispered "I love you" late at night and when Tony had said it right back.
He'd known.
And now all Tony was left with was a broken suit and an abandoned shield.
Tears fell out of his eyes as he fell back to the floor. Steve had left. He'd taken Barnes and walked right out, without sparing a second thought for Tony. After he and Pepper had broken up Tony had resigned himself to being alone for the rest of his life. Then Steve had kissed him and all of the sudden Tony had been in love again. They'd still fought but Tony had learned to see Steve's side of things and to explain his side of things to Steve. Tony had been sure that this was it. He'd fallen hard and fast for Steve.
"Well that shows you, huh Stark."
-----
Some time later, Tony's eyes startled open as he realized that he had no way out of that bunker.
-----
The temperature kept dropping, and Tony had long given up hope of a rescue.
"Well Yinsen, it looks like I did waste my life after all... I'm sorry."
Tony closed his eyes.
-----
When Tony came to again, everything was still cold and painful. He tried to move, but the suit was frozen and still dead, quiet honestly, Tony didn't know how he was still alive.
The sound of footsteps echoed through the bunker, and Tony blinked trying to place the sound. Had FRIDAY alerted Vision?
A few minutes later two slender figures walked towards him.
"Father," he didn't recognize the breathy feminine voice that rang out, "We've found him. We've got Stark."
"He looks half dead. Should we put him out of his misery?" Another woman said, her voice a lot more confident. The two figures walked closer, and Tony struggle to keep his eyes open. There was no way he could defend himself.
"Patience daughter, I have plans for Stark." A deep voice responded. The two women walked into the sliver of light that managed to get into his cold dark tomb. He finally laid eyes on them and his breathing grew harsher. The two women were not...human. They were humanoid, but one of them was blue, and her body was littered with mechanic enhancements, the other was completely green with deep burgundy hair. The two of them exuded murderous vibes. The kind that Tony usually only got from Natasha and Pepper. He drew in a harsh breath and tried once more to get up from the cold floor he'd been planing to die in.
"Such fighting spirit. It's a pity that humanity does not appreciate you Anthony Stark." An imposing figure approached from the shadows. He was huge, probably bigger than the hulk himself. "I have waited a long time to meet you Stark."
"Yo...u..... kno...w....m...e?" he managed to croak out.
"I do, you are not the only one cursed with knowledge."
"..w- wh..who...?" Tony could barely keep conscious. He was still on the verge of death, and aliens invading earth was literally his worst nightmare. A new voice rang out and a squid looking figure joined the others.
"Rejoice, you will have the privilege of being saved by The Great Titan, Thanos."
"Wh...wh.." Tony gasped for breath, "...why...?"
"I have come for you Stark. Earth's Greatest Defender. When I first enslaved the Asgardian, I thought his task a simple one. After all this planet is quite primitive compared to others we've conquered before. Yet, you and your team managed to defeat my army." The titan walked closer to him, "Imagine my surprise at realizing that it hadn't been your Asgardian ally who'd laid waste to my ships and army, but a simple human. Fascinating. After that it was difficult not to pay attention. Time and time again, you defend it, and this is your reward" The titan waved a hand towards the pathetic picture Tony painted.
"G..go..f..fuh..Fuck...yo...yours...self." Thanos smiled and waved a hand to those behind him.
"Give him a blood transfusion, The Accuser should have provided enough, and make sure he survives. Once he's no longer on the brink of death, bring him to me."
---------------------
Tony had passed out after his encounter with Thanos and when he'd woken up he was being moved. The pain had dulled down, most likely a result of the forced blood transfusion. He'd shuddered as he thought about it. Once more a victim of nonconsensual body modifications.
This nightmare just kept getting worse.
He was laid on a hard surface and bound. The genius took a moment to analyze his current situation, he seemed to be in some sort of medical room, there were holograms displaying what he assumed to be his own vitals. The technology seemed advanced and otherworldly so he took this to mean that he'd somehow made it into the ship. What was this Thanos actually doing here? Where they still on Earth? Was Earth under attack?
That final thought made him pull at his restrains, he immediately slumped back in the bed his body still felt like he'd been run over by a bus.
'or two super-soldiers'
Tony closed his eyes as the entire fight replayed in his mind. God he'd been so fucking stupid. And now here he was trapped by some crazy alien bent on conquering earth. Who would protect Earth now? Rogers and Barnes were definitely on the wind now. About half of the team were sitting in Ross's super secret prison. He hoped Vision runs and hides that damn stone. God knows were Natasha was hiding.
And Rhodey. Rhodey was in no condition to fight.
The door to the room he was currently trapped in opened and in walked the mad titan himself, accompanied by his two daughters? Who looked nothing like him.
"Stark, you are awake."
"Where am I? What do you want? You better stay away from Earth or I swe-"
"Don't worry, the time will come but there is much to do before I return for Earth's salvation." Tony's jaw clenched as he watched the purple maniac approach him. "Like I said, I am here for you Stark."
"What do you want from me? From the looks of this ship, you have no need for my tech much less my money, so what do you want? Weapons? I'll die before I ever create another weapon of mass destruction!" The titan simply smiled and sat beside him. His two deadly looking daughters stood guard by the door.
"I am here to offer you a place in my order, as my son and perhaps my heir." Tony stared incredulously and glanced at the other two in the room and saw their shocked expressions. So he hadn't shared his plans for Tony with them.
"Excuse me?!"
"I admire your bravery and tenacity Anthony, you would do well in my order and when I have achieved perfect balance in this entire universe I wish to retire, but I must leave someone in charge. I think you would do well."
"You are out of your mind." the brunette gritted out.
"You could help me save this entire universe from itself, and then you would be the most powerful man in the universe. Join us Stark"
"Never. I can't believe you thought that I'd say yes to this."
"You and I are quite similar you know. I too was called mad for trying to protect my planet. I tried to save my planet and our people, I was ignored, and the entire planet perished. Are you not tired Anthony? Of trying to save a planet that doesn't want to be saved?" The ache in Tony's chest grew and he continued to glare at Thanos.
"Never." Thanos let out a disappointed sigh and got back on his feet.
"I had hoped you would see reason," he walked towards the medical equipment in the room, "perhaps a little reminder of what Earth has repaid your loyalty with will help."
Tony couldn't help his scream at the pain his head was under. As he trashed he thought he saw pitying looks come from the two women by the door.
Everything went dark.

Everything Wanda suffered in Civil War was because of Steve so of course Crap stans like to blame Tony.
1. Wanda took the public blame of the accident in Lagos because Steve, her team captain, got easily distracted on a crucial mission.
2. Steve did not once try and change the public opinion about that either by talking to Ross, reaching out to the Nigerians, or to King T'Chaka who lost people in the blast. He never tried to appear on a news show to clear Wanda's name. Are you seriously telling me if Steve wanted to clear Wanda's name, Tony's PR team couldn't have done it?
2a. Instead, he let her stay in her room and beat herself up. He didn't even recommend she see someone to talk things through because she was still just learning to be an Avenger. It was the first time she couldn't save so many innocent people and all he said to her was, if you beat yourself up, next time no one gets saved. That's the mentality of a soldier who fought in a bloody war, that shouldn't have been the mentality a team leader should impart on the team's newest and youngest human recruit.
3. Even when Ross came to them with the Accords, Steve said nothing to him about Lagos being his fault.
4. He even had the opportunity to address the United Nations to remind them, remind T'Chaka that Wanda was not at a fault, that she was trying to save lives in Lagos. Instead, he broke a dozen international laws that erased everyone's tolerance towards the Avengers.
5. He brought Wanda out of the Compound where she was protected by a guy with an infinity stone, despite knowing it would further complicate her residential status in the US. He only brought her because he needed backup and didn't pause to think once if it would benefit her.
6. When fighting the other team, he only cared about Bucky's safety, despite knowing that Wanda was still publicly being blamed for Lagos and that the world governments would not take too kindly to her being in another country without proper documentation. He still chose to leave her behind when Clint said some of them had to lose the fight. The same "kid" he berated Tony about keeping away from the public, he didn't give two fucks about her safety.
7. He thought he was being kind by busting her out of the Raft. But in the process, he turned her into a fugitive, he cut off her access to the only teammate she connected with, he cut off her access to all the resources that were meant to reintegrate her into society, help her work through whatever trauma she had sustained because of Tony, Ultron, losing Pietro, her parents etc. He denied her all of that because he only cared about Bucky and expected his team to have the same priority. I won't even go into how his selfishness uprooted two family men and turned them into fugitives, and later placed them under house arrest. Let's be clear: Scott and Clint didn't come to Germany for the Accords. They came to help Steve fight supersoldiers because he gaslighted them into believing his way was the only option on the table.
8. After everything, after knowing Wanda lost the only person she had connected with during her time with the Avengers, Steve abandoned her like he abandoned everyone else because his dick wanted P*ggy. After everything Wanda did for him, including burying Vision 60 feet under the Compound once, he left her behind without a darn care in the world.
Tony never fired the missiles that killed her parents. Tony never fired the automatic machine gun on the Quinjet that killed Pietro. Tony never put her in a situation where she had to save his life and in the process accidentally kill more than two dozen civilians. Tony never ripped the mind stone out Vision's head while she watched. All he did was ask Vision to keep her company inside a luxurious seven star Compound until the public furore towards her died and her paperwork was sorted so that Ross would have fewer reasons to try and come after her.
Y'all never wondered why antis work so hard to paint Tony as Wanda's abuser even though they had like at most three interactions over two films? They're basically projecting the shit their fave did to her.

Agent of Hope - 20
Your world falls into ruin together with the Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcements Logistics Division when you find out that your boyfriend isn’t one of the good guys. Pairing: Brock Rumlow x fem!reader, Natasha Romanoff x fem!reader Contents: Bureaucracy and bending thereof, dealing with trauma, feels, balancing trust, loads more. A/N: Thanks to all of you who like and especially reblog <3 The house-situation is taking a looooot of energy, especially when combined with my tendency to overthink the wrong things, but hey: Ontkruid vergaat niet. THE GIF IS TOTALLY UNRELATED BUT I LOVE IT!
Tumblr media
20 - Not so Black ‘n White
The inlaid granite had felt hard under against the soles of your shoes, cold and grey and absolutely not helping with your nerves. When the stone had given way for carpet, that too had been dark in contrast to the naked walls coloured with some indeterminable off-white shade…at least there was a single palm tree in a much too small pot in the room you’d been led to, otherwise Natasha’s hair would have been the only bright colour in the room.
Your throat is dry, but you’re determined not to stop – if you do then you’ll never be able to start again. “It felt like-like an eternity even b’fore the threats and b-beatings and-d-and I messed up.” Tasha’s hand twitches. Want to hold my hand or kill Brock? “I tried to win time…peace…anything, by making up a story ‘cept i- he…” Your hand shakes so hard you spill some of the water from the crickly plastic cup which is empty before the dry knot in your throat has been washed away. “The point is…I can ermm identify and y’know…tes-…-tify…?”
The eyes boring into you are impossible to categorize in terms of colour, but you recognize the glimmer of pity before you have to look away. There’s been no show of emotions while you told of the life you and Brock had shared before things were brought out in the open, barely any frown as you explained how Hydra came and took you, but now…just a broken sentence hinting at your living nightmare.
I don’t want the pity. Everyone at the Compound walk as on eggshells around you, avoiding certain subjects as the let you decide the pace but there’s no pity just room to heal and grow stronger…what agent Ross radiates make you feel ruined all over again. No, worse than that. Guilt surges in the pit of your belly, pushing the shoulders up to your ears as if that could shield you from anything, when in reality nothing of what happened is your fault but the choice of a deranged man working on behalf of a genocidal organisation. Both of whom knows how to get where they want.
“Can I trust you, agent Ross?”
The simple question startles both him and Natasha, the latter sending you a warning look.
“I like to think that you can, yeah.” There’s a simple sort of honesty in his voice, matching the down-to-earth vibe you’ve been getting from him and which you know is one of the reasons your hero has agreed to co-operate to begin with. “We can do this off the books if you want?”
At least Tasha relaxes a little bit when you nod.
Whether or not she’s being protective or supportive, Natasha has moved closer to you. It doesn’t prevent Ross from leaning as far across the table as he can without getting his ass out the chair, and you’re secretly thankful for his short stature.
“That’s…either insane or improbable,” he breathes, fingers carting through the now messy hair, “but with all the shit happening the last years…oh fuck me!”
The exclamation isn’t a request or order but still makes you cringe inwardly. It’s Nat’s hands being squeezed so hard the blood flow is hampered and you’re grateful she’s here even if the assassin side of her is plotting ways to teach Ross to back down.
“Let me make this very, very clear,” she states subtly, “if any of this leaves the room without [Y/N]’s consent…”
A smirk dances at the corner of her lips only for you to see when the poor man blanches, his head probably full of all sorts of horrible options for his untimely demise.
“Understood!” A finger slips inside the tie in a futile attempt at loosening it slightly. “Hrm…perhaps we should continue this at another time?”
…   Romanoff   …
Not many people manage to surprise the former spy/assassin the way [Y/N] has today and she almost feels prouder than worried even now as she guides the car through the traffic. Next to her, the astounding woman is sitting with a foot on the seat, an elbow resting on the knee to further support her head. By now there must be dents under the chin from the knuckles because [Y/N] hasn’t moved since they got off the highway but merely been staring out the side window. Squinting at the faint reflection, Natasha can’t see the frown usually visible in times of serious pondering. What’s going on, babe? Talk to me. She’s about to ask for just that when [Y/N] breaks the silence.
“I’m sorry I told him what I can do anyways…” A few dust motes hover in the temporary silence. “Thing is that…that he does the same as you and the others? Which means that he doesn’t…he doesn’t…ask…” Breathing shakily, the girl looks back out the window. “None of you have been forcing me to tell anything. Not about what happened. Not about what I…see.”
Oh. “Ross didn’t either.”
“Nuh-uh.” There’s a small smile obscured by the shaking head. “Bro-Rumlow and…those…they kept pushing, forcing me to tell and it was never enough!”
Natasha knows the reason behind it. Hydra doesn’t have room for values such as personal freedom, individualism, moral, anything else but furthering their cause.
With someone that could potentially tell the future in their hands, they’d been sitting on a golden mine and of course they’d had to dig quick and deep to get as much of the valuables as possible before the treasure trove was whisked away. It didn’t matter to them that said treasure was a person and the mine was her mind.
Сукин сын! Through the sleepless nights and the countless days spent comforting the survivor, even nursing her back to a semblance of thriving, most of the horrors have been revealed although never in too great detail. What has never been said, Natasha has been able to fill in the blanks from simply because she’s seen that kind of world and she knows the messed up rules Hydra plays by. The only comfort in this mess is that Rumlow had never shared the spoils with anyone.
“Sweetheart, it’s your life and I don’t have the right to make the decisions for you,” Nat explains softly, “I promised I’d be by your side and that stands whether or not you want to share your intel with me…us…or not.”
A warm hand slips over on the Avenger’s thigh to give a little squeeze. “I know.” There’s that smile again. “And I appreciate all the room and trust you and the others show me…I really do.” The hands stays, thumb tracing light circles on the denim. “Besides…you’ll come to respect agent Ross in Berlin.”
Huh? No explanation follows, though, and Natasha decides to let the spy in her go unsatisfied and instead hope that [Y/N] will tell more in due time.
The rest of the way to the Tower, where Happy, Stark, and Pepper are waiting, the women chat about the hunt on the remaining Hydra cells.
…   Reader   …
Ever since getting to the safety of Stark and the Avengers the very first time, you’ve been keeping notes about the vision. At first it was short key words on your phone, but the last week it’s been full on recounts in a notebook covered with flappable sequins (navy blue one way and a sparkly rainbow-coloured mix the other), most of the contents naturally being older visions that you try to recall.
Rubbing your left temple in small circles the fingers on the other hand mindlessly trace patterns to break the monochrome surface. Nothing makes sense. You almost whish you were back to the old days where the pain-inducing dreams seemed like nothing more than just freak coincidences and a lively imagination…but then you’d still be with Brock and that’s one nightmare you’d give anything to be without. I thought I loved him…a sour taste echoes in the back of your mouth, the barely visible scars itch. He thinks he still does.
The disconcerting thoughts are broken by the sound of approaching footsteps which can only belong to Happy. He rarely makes it up to the domestic floors of the Tower so when he does, he makes sure to pop by wherever you’re hanging out, brightening your day with one of his full-face smiles.
“Heya!” He allows a box to drop onto the couch so he can stretch a bit. “How’s it going, tiger?”
Meh. “Okay…trying to make sense of my life and shit, y’know?” It’s nice not to have to explain for Happy to get it. The man is empathy incarnate and the nod encompasses that. “Watcha got there?”
As if partially surprised at the box still resting  on the soft seat and somewhat chuffed that he knows something you don’t, Happy pats the cardboard lovingly. “Oh…just a little somethin’ somethin’ mister Stark has asked me t’get him…” Shifty eyes, then he leans closer to whisper: “You’ll see eventually.”
“So secretive, my dear sir!”
“Ay, never betray the trust o’ som’one ye care ‘bout, little girl,” he hums in a horrible pirate voice, “’specially not if they’re a super’ero or assassin or whatnot, if ye get mah drift.”
A slight cough behind Happy makes the poor man blanche. “Wise words coming from a man who’s decided not to go straight to their boss who just happens to be such a hero.”
Even with a sickly green smoothie in hand and an old band t-shirt, Tony Stark’s presence takes over the room. Not in an uncomfortable way, there’s just no denying the imposing alpha-male-thing he’s got going. It makes your toes curl and thighs itch with the need to get away and find Natasha.

Tony Stark Ends My MCU in Endgame
Just sharing some stuff I did on dreamwidth with a few updates. I’m new to tumblr, give me patience.
Here is why I'm never watching another MCU film or giving money to them or Marvel if I can help it. Tony Fucking Stark. The capitulation to and adoration of both RDJ and that character shows me that their brand of heroism is nothing I want to do with. Endgame validated his worldview and I can't reconcile. Look. I'm no big fan of Tony or Iron Man. Been tolerating since Avengers. Been outright thinking he deserved a tell off and comeuppance since Civil War. Did not believe he'd get it, but thought, well, thought at the least he'd still be not outright unchallenged or proven right. Basically, I was wrong in that I thought the films were conscious of his flaws they were highlighting, and that even if they could never be confirmed or explored while RDJ was onboard, because I think RDJ would never consent to looking bad because he's a narcissist and he has star power, they were there, canon, and recognized with subtlety. And I had other models of heroes in Steve and Thor to say Tony is not the only version of hero to emulate. Iron Man as a character through his movies and the Avengers film is a hero born of guilt and mired in a complex selfishness. I thought this always but especially with repeat viewings. He's fascinating because he does help people, and commit good acts, but it is born not from a desire to care for others. It's often a side-affect of his overwhelming ego. That is the kind of hero Tony is. A selfishly, not selflessly motivated one.
I eventually got very tired of Tony not seeing others around him that were hurt instead of helped by his brand of heroism. A replacement for his brand of weapons at Stark Industries or his rock-star persona. Or seeing others at all. It's something that regardless of results, I think society needs to re-examine the strength of. The ego. The self. An American world doesn't need more internal selfishness to admire. It should wear Tony down in a very different way than the MCU reflects. It should have a foil and a cost. Endgame has erased and ignored this, validated and lionized Tony as a hero role-model, to an awful degree. To start Tony is made weak in the opening and given his monologue goodbye to Pepper to garner sympathy. For him. Not for Pepper. Not for Nebula do they have kindly interaction together; we are squarely with and in Tony POV. It's re-occurring, this sainted POV of Tony in this film. You'll notice it especially in his funeral, when he’s already dead, as on-lookers who have no connection or tenuous relation to him gather and mourn because to the film he's the icon of the MCU and the hero.
This POV is not extended to others, say Natasha’s loss. The film has a central character it is focusing and idenitfying with, and it’s Tony Stark.
The main thrust of argument in the film is also weighted in Tony's favor. Tony gets off the ship on Earth. To be hugged and comforted by his foil Steve. He is fragile and we linger on his emaciated frame in his argument with Steve and the others. We linger on him in bed after, surrounded by caring loved ones. Held back by Rhodey. Our sympathy is supposed to be centered squarely on him. Yet his argument itself is devoid of logic or reason or compassion for others that are not himself. 1) Ultron was evil and the Iron Legion was causing civil unrest even before and is gone through no others decision. Tony never rebuilt it. 2) The reason the Avengers were not working together in Civil War and after was entirely because of Tony. It's Tony who got the olive branch of a phone Steve sent and hasn't used it. Indeed Steve came as soon as Bruce and Rhodey phoned. It's Tony who went to space and left the others behind. It's Tony who lost trust and therefore tracking of Vision causing him to go off-grid. It's Tony who agreed with the accords, has since broken the accords, and has since not done anything to demolish them. Accords which Ross wanted to use to stay hands in Infinity War as well. 3)Tony is in a room playing photos of the dusted, came with a woman who's sister is murdered, and can only focus on his hurt about the Snap. On losing Peter, because of what it means to him. Of the others not being with him to comfort him in his time of battle and loss. His priority is his pain alone. It's supremely selfish. It's given no rebuttal because the narrative agrees his pain is what matters. So characters feel sad for him instead of anger or their own hurt. If they don’t agree with him, no time is devoted to seeing that. This is where you expect an argument. A reflection by everyone. A hash-out on the priority of one's personal pain versus the whole universe's losses. None ever comes. The film avoids another interesting conflict on selfishness vs selflessness to approve of onlyTony when in the five year gap it celebrates in Tony's family, at the expense of everyone else refusing to move on. Only Tony gets happiness in time through his not thinking about others. Now Tony does regret Peter. So Tony decides to help reverse the Snap. But he is given zero push back on the decision to do so entirely for his benefit, that it is his alleviation of feeling Peter's loss, and not for the world's losses, or Peter's loss independant of Tony. Again it’s a selfish and self-motivatied choice.
That Tony refuses to give up his 5 year family, which will come at the expense of 5 years lost to the returned, of the collateral we saw take place in Infinity War, at the deaths and changes since is not examined because the narrative doesn’t care to disagree with Tony. I'm not saying erasing Tony's family is right, heroic, or a choice he or the film should advocate for. But there is zero thought or discussion to the idea that Tony's family or pain is not all there is to consider in this plan. Where is Thor, saying how dare you value your happiness over all the dead of Asgard? Where's Natasha mad at her effort to keep everyone together, including world crisis prevention? Where is Carol with the universe as a whole perspective? Where is Banner saying help me at least not kill ourselves trying? Where is Clint not wanting to be a killer when his family comes back? Where is any nuance that just because Tony wants this in this way, it's not the only way everyone would feel. This film never puts anything above Tony's feelings. This extends to his heroic sacrifice at the end. The final two ways the film absolutely prides Tony's view versus anything else are his death and mourning. Tony is treated as the ultimate hero. Out of 14 million scenarios, it takes him alone to win. Him using the stones barehanded when all others couldn't. Him saving the world. His ultimate sacrifice and entirely his choice. All about him. It's not selfless that way. It's killing yourself yes, it’s saving others, but you are the ultimate universe saver. The ultimate avenger. You defeat the bad guy. Not bring people back in an act of return, but in an act of rightfulness you fix what you've been complaining others wouldn't let you and defeat evil all by yourself. Your entire motivation is rewarded, because you protect the universe by killing all your bad guy enemies. Rooted in how you feel and what you want. His final line "And I am Iron Man" a rebuke to anyone who doubts the greatness of him. Tony was right and perfect everyone. Listen up.  But there is no self-sacrifice here, because it's not about him losing. Oh, fans will mourn him. Lament Tony's lost family and happiness. Rally against his pain in dying. But Tony doesn't. There is no reflection in the film from him on the potential cost or the reality in the moment. No care is extended to the daughter's feelings or Pepper's or his friends. Nothing is about the impact or loss he'd feel of leaving them. Instead he's, like always, the focus. The film is entirely about losing him and how it's the worst for you and the world. That is what the film wants you to be sad about in these moments. Every character props him. Steve's tears. Peter's "Mr. Stark we won", and Pepper's "You can rest now." It's all about making Tony look good. This continues with the funeral. Morgan talking to Happy being about a callback to cheeseburgers Tony loved. Tony Stark 's first reactor is “Proof Tony Stark Has A Heart” floating away, wreathed in flowers. It's all tribute to the man and only about him. That's not selfless, it's self-aggrandizing. The character has gained no humility or grace. Just more fame. I'm not interested in that. In fact I'm angry. The overarching message of his rightness also destroys his foil, Steve. Who stands behind Pepper at the funeral? Steve. Who stands with Tony throughout the film? Steve. As his character's end, Steve adopts Tony's mindset of not being a selfless hero and chooses to do as Tony did and think only of what Steve currently wants. Peggy. In the past. At others expense. Steve chooses to be a selfish hero. As does Thor going off the rails in film and off with the guardians and abandoning his people. Marvel thinks that's the right way. A summation of all their films and a thing to look back on and celebrate as Tony hologram's monologue tells us. All heroes are reduced to the Tony Stark role model. It tells me they never thought Tony's world-view was a problem. And I disagree. Or they wanted to honor him so they warped everything else to work it. If they do it once, twice, always...well, what next? So I'm done.
