My hobbies combined and I did not find a satisfying homebrew of half demons and half angels to use for DnD so I pulled an all nighter and made my own. So far has been approved by two other DMs. I like the idea of making more mixed creatures so feel free to suggest what I should work on next.
Side note: my sister and I are going to be playing this race with very different alignments. We will be twins and our names will be Yin and Yang Chi. Let's gooooooooooo

I updated this and the link here but gmbinder hates me and wouldn't let me update original document. This version contains a lot more info and corrects a few grammar mistakes. If you want the old version just message me (but the new stuff is really cool idk why you wouldn't want it).
Hello Curse of Strahd DMs. Have you ever wished Sergei was alive? Or kind of alive? And fucked up?
Anyways I made a vampire Sergei for when you want your gothic horror to have a sympathetic villain, because I thought it would be more viable than making Strahd sympathetic.
#he is so special to me and [document spoilers]#i'm glad to have gotten the new info in because i think it'll make him much easier to play#also lmk if there are issues! gmbinder is hell

While I'm on the topic of sharing stuff I've done/am doing, here's something I've been working on for a while now: Ultrakill homebrew for D&D 5E!
I recently overhauled it to fit into more settings and have gameplay that I think will feel better than its past iterations, but tbh I still haven't got many chances to really test it out yet. Still, I hope it'll be fun for whoever else has these overlapping interests. Sorry in advance if it shows up strange in your browser, GMBinder is just like that sometimes.

Hey, question from someone who wants to get into D&D Homebrewing: how do you make the pdfs you show off, the ones that look straight out of the books
I use GMBinder! It's an online tool that uses Markdown to accomplish what it does. It's a little complicated at first but once you get the hang of it, it's actually pretty easy.
For example writing *Hunter's Mark* would have Hunter's Mark appear in the visual document in italics.
Although given how much of a headache GMBinder has been recently I am in the market for a new way to make the stuff I make.

Some D&D Resources
Most are fairly obvious, some are my more obscure favs. I'll try to order them based on how often I use them.
Dungeon Master's Vault - It's basically an alternative to D&D Beyond that lets you make character sheets, and helps you run games. Has all the SRD content automatically, and lets you add your own stuff to it. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but it's personally been a godsend for me. Also has some funky (non-AI) generators for names, towns, cities etc. But that's not it's core appeal.
AlchemyRPG - This was really helpful for virtual games during the lockdown. You can create immersive scenes with different ambient sounds, and encounter music. It also has a battlemap mode with tokens on it to represent the PCs and Monsters. You can also create NPCs and Monsters on it, but I'll admit it's a bit tedious. I've been able to run it on my laptop with minimal issues, but if you have something like a Chromebook it might cause some lag.
Tabletopaudio - Great for finding ambient music for D&D
Sound Cloud - It sounds out of pocket, but out of the 'mainstream' music platforms, I've found it easiest to find ambient music on Sound Cloud specifically.
2minutetabletop - Has nice maps and tokens, really great stuff.
Arcana Wiki - This is pretty funky, it has real world historical and cultural information, as well as a handful of conspiracies, fun to browse and find inspiration.
Kastark, Donjon Encounter Size Calculator, and KoboldPlus - All calculate encounter difficulty ratings so you, as a GM, don't completely TPK your DnD party. Kobold does this best imo, but it's down to preference. Pretty sure Kastark also has an initiative tracker here.
GMBinder - Has great homebrew finds for Players and GMs. It's also what I use to format my homebrew pages. If it doesn't suit you, Homebrewery is a well known alternative.
5esrd - While it contains SRD content, I also use it for Homebrew finds, as it has a list that credits some homebrew source books that I like to check out on DMsGuild.
5etools - Fairly obvious, it has a bunch of stuff, and is also great for looking up information about player options.
r/DnDMaps - If you use the search function, it's fairly straight foward to find a map for your location. Also, they have a rule against AI, which is a huge plus.

Hi, have some proof of life, I guess? Long story short, was out of creative juices for a while but I've got some back now. I won't write up a big description this time around because I'm actually still kinda pumped at the fact that I can still make homebrews, so I'm gonna channel that energy into making homebrews lol. Have a good one, internet wayfarer 07

I think I'm kind of done using homebrewery for things. I was a useful tool bug I think I've gotten to a point where my design vision has surpassed the functionality of css coding. A good example of this is in my necromancer doc.
In the doc I wanted to have the monster stat blocks in some skeletal jaws. So I did the vector art for the jaws and set about putting them in as a border for the stat block element. In retrospect, this was a very bad idea. My vision for what I wanted was being handed over to a function I had very little control over in css. Border slicing is not a great way to handle actual graphics. I would have been better served by introducing other elements, one for the top jaw and one for the bottom jaw, so that the spacing and size and position would be exact and perfect for every stat block. But that was extra steps and new elements and I didn't want to code that.
In the future, what I can do is use Affinity publisher to create a template with all the elements I want and just do that every time. A little more time consuming, but entirely manipulable. I'm weird like that, I like being able to go in and finesse every vector node. It is not efficient but I do feel more involved and I like that. And once it's set it is much easier to noodle around with.
And the rest is kind the same for me. All the css elements are very limiting because the parameters I want to change are all either not easily identifiable or not comprehensive or simple not functional for what I'm doing (like border-slice).
I'm not entirely sure why I'm explaining this. But it feels important to sort of memorialize something that has helped me a great deal over the years. I'm grateful for gmbinder and homebrewery for being very accessible resources. I hope othe people get good use out of them. And I feel kind of proud that I'm moving on to more complex pastures.

4/11/2024 Updates
SO... We are struggling extremely hard in life balancing fucking everything. Currently, we are in the middle of 3 different major life changes and none of us are coping with any of it very well.
Now, the one who has been running the blog is Mae/Lily. I am not her so I am going to be a bit awkward in how I phrase this.
This blog is going to be abandoned and moved to another since we are changing game mechanics again. The reason we are moving is because Mae wants to keep all of these posts up. The GMBinder links will also remain up.
The history has changed rather drastically in this project. At first, we wanted to make our own system, which led to this rework of the original system. However, we did not like it, so we tried again.
Then we wanted to try to remake the system with 1e Pathfinder, didn't do much, then switched to 3.5e D&D. However, we realized two things with my rework. Sadly, as much as we all hate WotC, 5e D&D is much more popular.
On top of that, myself, Mae, and several other headmates are much more familiar with 5e. It is much more easier to write mechanics in an rpg system we are most familiar with.
So we will be writing a whole 5e compendium for the WCverse. We will reblog when the blog is made. Mae is dealing with a lot of things in her personal life and will be uploading information later.

DAVID DND CHARACTER SHEET
In an effort to continue something I said I wanted to months ago...
So in a previous post long ago, I had put together what I thought would be the most accurate Dungeons and Dragons character classes for David, Asher, Milo, Sam and Vincent. Around the same time I had actually started inputting that data into World Anvil, a platform providing different tools to help writers plan and present their worlds, plots, character information etc. Using their character sheet toolset, I was now able to present what numbers best represent the 6 stats for David's build.
Stats in DND affect the chance involved in playing it, like when deciding if your attacks hit their mark, if you manage to shrug off effects meant to harm you or in whether or not performing a skill leads to success or not. DnD characters can have different skills, each corresponding to certain stats that encapsulate how well someone can perform those skills. David's skills were decided from options available from his class and character background, 2 from his Fighter class, one each from his Barbarian class and character race, and 2 more from his custom background of Dilettante taken from the work of Dylan Richards from GMBinder.
Athletics was an obvious choice being that a shifter's magic is channeled through physical prowess. Same thought with Perception, as heightened senses in reference to the animal they transform into is a pretty common headcannon.
Intimidation and Persuasion, the latter taken from his background, are befitting as David's status as pack alpha and the head of a security company nets him a good deal of authority and social standing.
History as a skill comes as a package deal with Persuasion and is regrettably a worse pick to have over other skills like Nature or Survival because David's interests in camping and gardening are more appropriate character choices.
Backgrounds in DnD are a mechanic meant to add flavor to characters. They're essentially a typical description about occupation, reputation or places of origin. I insist on Dilettante as David's background because I saw it as a great call back to the fact that David inherited his business and expanded it to be more than just substantially supporting his pack. By picking that background, I was able to reach for a connection that, even if only a little, ties things back to Gabe and I felt really good about it :3

Ever consider posting your brews as images instead of GMBinder links? Seems like Tumblr tends to be more receptive to a visual format, at least in my experience.
i haven’t, but that’s probably a good call lol. thanks for the suggestion! i’ll probably go back through and change all of those :)
