The little bow of reflection and smile Ray makes as he briefly soaks in the last morning Emma and Norman will be able to carry out their routine as usual knowing the horror they'll endure before night's end.
He knows they'd both prefer the harsh truth over a pretty lie, would hate to think about other siblings suffering the same fate as Conny, Hao, Sadie, Susan, and so many more before them if there was even the slightest chance of being able to do something about it. It's part of what he loves about them; where he had the tendency to give up after years of learned helplessness and self-loathing, they would resolutely say "no" and escape the system they had been born into.
(they are better, they are deserving, unlike him)
Tumblr media
He loves them so much he can't help but let some of his fondness show on his face as he savors Emma's reaction to seeing him and Norman, because if that isn't so incredibly her, to love so effortlessly and uninhibited, to live so unabashedly authentic.
It's part of what got him through a life he cursed and part of why he has faith if anyone will be able to do this, it'll be them.

genuine question, asking in good faith i promise: what do you like about cullen? i’ve been on the side of the fanbase that loathes him for quite some time & i am interested in hearing what ppl who enjoy him like in his character, i’ve always been conflicted on him n want to give him some more benefit of the doubt. basically i am giving u a free pass to lovemail him i am trying 2 expand my horizons
Hello anon! I hope you are doing well :) There's quite a few things I like about him! I will chuck this under a read more bc it got long I am very sorry 😭❤️
Cullen is flawed - he spent many years of his life traumatised, and anger was born from that trauma. His prejudice (and I'm not denying it is that, because it is dskdksks) towards mages in DA2 stems from fear. Later he acknowledges his treatment of them and how it was unjust of him to do so.
He says it himself in Inquisition that he wants nothing to do with his former life and who he was in that life. I just think it's really realistic and something I can relate to; his anger blinding him and his fear making him lash out. Cullen's reactions to being traumatised and wrong for how he has treated mages are two things that can coexist!
I love that he stood up for Hawke. You could argue that he disobeyed Meredith way too late, but there's also the fact that Cullen was what, 19 or 20 when he went to Kirkwall? He was so young when he was placed under her command. That he even defied her in the first place deserves commendation, imo. And the fact that he doesn't prevent Hawke from leaving Kirkwall at the end.
I find him very admirable. He's struggling with an addiction, commanding an entire army and dealing with the stress of Corypheus all at once. And he is so PRAGMATIC about everything. This is just a me thing but I adore pragmatism.
He's actually a sweetheart. Giving the Inquisitor his lucky coin, taking them to where he would go to relax in his childhood, checking up on them and making sure they're doing okay.
Cullen is awkward. I find it endearing and relatable, and perhaps a little sad - he's spent so long sworn to duty that he's forgotten how to relax and make non work related conversation. Come Inquisition, we see him learning how to do so again. Like the chess game!
I find his romance very wholesome. I like the 'boring' romances because they feel safe and comforting. He's kind and very respectful, and should you choose to marry him, he's very willing to do it by Dalish tradition. And should you choose not to want to marry him, that's great too!
He likes dogs. 'Nuff said.
Overall, I find him to be compelling and kind and thoughtful. He's selfless and drowns in self sacrifice. He absolutely adores the people he loves, he's a good dancer and I think he deserves all good things.
I probably have more to say but my brain is totally empty. Thanks for your ask! <3

The signs as types of friends
Aries - The friend who is always reliable and there for you, but who will also tell you when you’re wrong. The friend you always have a good night out with and you can tell anything to. The confidant, the wild child, and the person who will check you when you’re being an asshole. Aries’ moods tend to change very fast and without warning, any friend of theirs will have to be understanding that Aries is complicated and not to take their mood swings personally.
Taurus - The friend that makes you feel at ease. They make you feel heard and will also introduce you to cool music. Taurus people typically look put together with minimum effort, so they are the friend that will influence your style for the better. Silences are not awkward when you’re with them and your conversations will inevitably go from casual to deep. As acquaintances, Taurus are stubborn and believe they know what’s best. You’ll know a Taurus is your close friend once he or she begins to change their thinking and ideas because of you and confide in you.
Gemini - This is the friend that often needs your help. They can be emotional rollercoasters while simultaneously feeling like strangers to their own emotions, so they need support from their friends.  The funny friend of the group. Gemini will always brighten up your mood and encourage your vices.  Even though they rely on you sometimes, you can always count on Gemini to hype you up. Beware of them stirring the pot within groups. As friends, Geminis tend to withdraw when they get bored or when they are at peace. You may notice they come around more in times of chaos--whether it is their own chaos or someone else’s.
Cancer - The friend that has your best interest at heart, even though they sometimes can come off short-sided or selfish.  Cancers’ intuition and their need to nurture loved ones makes you feel relaxed and taken care of in their presence. They make friends easily because they are generally chill, understanding, and accepting of others. Cancer is the friend who gives you the best advice and will often be there to help you resolve conflicts within a group or with a mutual friend.  Cancers are moody and not always agreeable friends, beware of mood changes and negativity if the Cancer person is stressed or withdrawn into their emotional world.
Leo - The person everyone wants to be friends with. They are the friend that introduces you to new people, places, and things. They are generous with their friends and come to your defense at the drop of a hat. Leo is the life of the party, or so they think, and can sometimes become jealous or competitive if the spotlight shifts, so beware of power struggles.  Overall loyal and protective of their friends, Leos thrive in large social circles. Friends of Leo must keep up with appearances and behave honorably, otherwise Leo finds it difficult to understand or relate to you.
Virgo - The friend that reminds you to do important things and helps you with your real problems. They are like a light in a storm guiding you back to reason in tough times. Virgo also has your best interest at heart and holds their friends in extremely high regard as they are not easily impressed and do not warm up to just anyone. Your friend that reminds you to have high standards when choosing who to date, where to live, or what job to have. The friend that likes timeliness, order, and planning things ahead of time.
Libra - The social butterfly friend. Libras have large, diverse friend groups that are somewhat superficial. Libra is likely to be the friend that you enjoy being around at parties or in large groups as this is where Libra’s energy is exalted. They like to have lots of acquaintances and tell everyone about their crushes. When a Libra considers you to be a very close friend they go out of their way to help you in tough times and do whatever they can to keep your spirits lifted--this includes cluing you into helpful information and defending your honor. Even an introverted Libra seems to come out of his or her shell more in a group rather than one on one.
Scorpio - Scorpio friendships are long lasting and deeply comfortable relationships. They make you feel protected and offer understanding and support in dark times. Scorpio is the friend you call at 3am to come pick you up, and they actually come. They are understanding and empathetic in your dark times, but they might not always be reliable 100% of the time because when they need emotional support they tend to withdraw from everyone. Not everyone can handle the type of friend that Scorpio is because Scorpio can come off as hot and cold; their friendships may occasionally seem one sided. Close friendships with Scorpio can take years to solidify, they do not trust just anyone.
Sagittarius - The flakey friend. They always come around when you have a big event planned. Sagittarius people love large groups and parties because the attention they get is fragmented and diverse. They often shy away from low-key or small gatherings. They get more from large groups than from small circles. They enjoy their time by themselves if only to charge them up for an extravagant outing or social scene.  Sometimes things they believe to be harmless can rub others the wrong way, so they are more often than not problematic, but still they can be very fun friends. They will usually be up for any adventure; but beware of their tendency to change their minds or just do whatever they feel like.
Capricorn - Although Capricorns tend to be pragmatic most of the time, when it comes to friendships they are silly and fun. The Capricorn is the responsible friend that will sometimes pass on going out because they have work or class early in the morning, but they make it up by always having your back even if it’s from afar. They are strong components within groups of friends and can lose themselves sometimes in a large crowd. Although their confidence does not falter, their character can. In toxic groups Capricorns become corrupted and blind even if its just for the sake of fitting in. With maturity, Capricorn gets better at navigating these situations. Strong, protective, forgiving friends, they do not tell anyone else when they need help.
Aquarius - The friends that will give you a helpful perspective. They have a simple way of going about people and relationships, so there is typically a lot of harmony in friendships with those who are Aquarians.  As the humanitarians of the zodiac, Aquarians make very reliable friends that inherently understand you without needing to pry. They are the friends that make you feel at home, their energy is consistently peaceful and positive.  Aquarians love conversing about ideas and will challenge you when your ideas seem to be heading in the direction of a pipe-dream. They offer a realistic perspective in contrast to the unwavering light-heartedness of their presence.
Pisces - The friend that is extremely fun, but also a bit selfish and immature. They love to have a good time and are emotionally deep as individuals, but are not typically able to truly consider or show interest in the emotional problems of their friends.  They need a listening ear but often do not return the favor. Their dreaminess and creativity makes them remarkably fun to be around.  These are the friends that you do not go to in times of need, but who you call when you need a fun night out.

Sannin headcanons and thoughts
The last thing I would like to post for the sannin week. It is still 24.04 here! :D @sannin-central
This is long. Spoiler alert. Mostly Orochimaru, some Tsunade, a little of Jiraiya (because his story is pretty clear and spoken and idk what I can add). Also I recommend to read this meta about Orochimaru, it has influenced me a lot and has some good points. Sorry for any posible grammar mistakes. Also I really should put here a lot of references to the manga or anime but it was something that was piling up for a year and I'm soooooooo lazy. After all, those are just headcanons. Also: Im not excusing Oro's bad stuff here, Im trying to understand the reasons.
Ive already posted some hcs, here, here and here.
Tumblr media
1. First if all, the chronology pic of sannin lifetime based on the info i found on naruto wiki and also some statements about wars from this post. It was tough considering what a mess naruto’s chronology is.
2. Sannin story shows what it cost to be a legend. They're like Team 7 but more realistic. Tsunade literally carried the war but left with nothing and developed a ptsd and have problems to just live on. Also anger control issues. I think she can be pretty bossy and stubborn which is not always nice. Jiraiya is the hero of the day but also very idealistic and can ignore some important details in the real word whether its the fight (he always injured during flashbacks maybe because each time he took too much to handle and on the one hand it's heroistic but on the other is a mistake that can lead your team to situations like in that Iwa cave) or your friends issues (I bet he saw what's going on but thought it's fine until Oro actually got red handed and left). He lives in his world and may have problems to get out to see it through someone else's shoes. As for Orochimaru, it seems like he was a normal guy for 20+ years (I mean, he didn't do crazy criminal shit and had something good in him and it was stated somewhere that it was his teammates influence. It is obvious they considered him as a friend, I don't thinks it was for nothing) but we mostly know his darkest side. Despite being a moster he is a human that have empathy and some ordinary human traits (man just decorates every bit of an environment he is in lol).
3. Tsunade was the leader of team Hiruzen.
4. Tsunade sometimes hit Jiraiya for some stupid things he did or said but never touches Orochimaru even if he did something same. Jiraiya complained about it once and almost got another hit.
5. Jiraiya had problematic parents that didn't care about him much and a lot of time he was wandering in the streets.
6. Judging by the look of Oro bangs and hair, he sometimes cut it off. A stress relief huh? And the fact that he doesn't do it now in Boruto..
7. It was shown that Tsunade and Orochimaru was acknowledged before they become a team. Maybe they did just before, or maybe some longer time before. I prefer the second option and hc that they met because both had no real friends - Orochimaru seemed weird and scary for everyone and Tsunade was Senju so everyone wanted to hang out with her but didn't really care. They weren't seen as what they were - people put the labels on them. But they didn't care about each other's labels and actually saw each other in true lights.
8. Tsunade knew it was an accident and it's not right but still she blamed Orochimaru for Nawaki's death for some time. It was something that seriously damaged their friendship and the team. Orochimaru was mad but also guilty, after all, he was responsible at least as a shinobi since Nawaki was under his watch. So he started to act cold and emotionless and was trying to distance himself from his teammates.
9. Jiraiya was in Ame while Dan died.
10. The whole his orphans mission was a bit irresponsible tbh. They already fought Hanzo and as he stated the conflict between Konoha and Ame is going to an end with Konoha's win. It's weird to stay here for three years in the middle of the war while there were other lands to fight. He left his teammates for some idea. Maybe that caused another crack in their team friendship.
11. If Tsunade would have find a way to live on with her trauma and follow the will of fire and stuff it would affect Orochimaru as well just as her grief affected him. It's like he would get an example that you can live on with this pain. So death isn't above human capability and we are not just the slaves of mortality (sounds stupid but i dont know how else to describe sorry). But as we know what he actually saw is that it broke her crucially to the point she couldnt be herself again. And so the death is above everything.
12. Oro wasn’t just acting as a cold pragmatic bitch in that cave but also tried to save Tsunade. Jiraiya knew it and that’s why he showed this sign to him like "I see what youre doing here" and that stunned Oro because he would prefer to look rather like a cold pragmatic bitch hehe
13. Just a thought. People in the village probably treated Oro as a foreigner or just wouldnt accept him because he looked so differently and had a weird attitude. That's why he sometimes didn't feel that Konoha is his home. After the wars where people were treated as means and tools, even the children, he himself developed this view on people - he dehumanized them and used as the means to his goals, just as his village did. Funny thing some people were straightly dehumanizing him too like Ibiki thought that he was a demon (tho he was a child). And he probably weren't the only one. Anyways the point is that it's logical that Orochimaru don't care about anybody but some few people, he's the product of his era. He's like Naruto that would chose the hatred way. But naruto had some good and understanding people around him and.. Orochimaru had them too, but match how Iruka treated Naruto and this Hiruzen's "I sAw tHe mAliCe in This cHiLd fRoM tHe BegGinNinG". And oro didn't even have a big ass evil fox in him. sry i hate hiruzen
ANYWAYS the moral of the story is not "go criminal if they hurt you" but always treat people like people. Waving my hand to Kant.
14. The reason why Orochimaru didn't pick some good morals to stick with through the hard times no matter what (like, idk, Jiraiya or Naruto) is because 1) I think he is/was pretty depending on people around him 2) the war fucked him and his friends up too much (Nawaki incident + Tsunade) 3) twisted addictions (though I don't think he's that sadistic, we never saw him torturing randoms just for fun, it was always some science experimental shit. He tends to get fun out of cruelty only when it's personal) that maybe developed as a way to sublimate anger and sadness caused by his parents loss (that's what they share with sasuke - unlicke naruto, they knew their parents and it's other kind of pain. Sasuke developed a revenge issue and Orochimaru - cruelty pleasure which... is kinda the same but less epic and more occasional lol).
15. Speaking of that, Orochimaru cared for Sasuke because he saw himself in him.
16. Oro hold grudges against Hiruzen for not choosing him to be Hokage not only because he was ambitious and/or egoistic, but also because Hiruzen was some kind of a father figure for him and his approval was important tho i doubt he was aware of that. He also probably could tell that Hiruzen was suspicios about him when he was a child and that led to many conflicts and was hurting as well.
17. Tsunade knew things weren't pretty with Orochimaru after the wars but she never expected them to be this bad. During the week that she was given in her arc she thought not only about how much she wants to see Nawaki and Dan again despite how wrong would it be but also was trying to bury all the good memories she had left of Orochimaru so it would be easier to kill him.
18. She poisoned Jiraiya exactly because she knew he would not let her do it. Jiraiya was always hesitant to kill and inclined to forgiveness, while Tsunade, as mentioned by Orochimaru, could be merciless (so much so that he was not surprised when Kabuto suggested that she wanted to use Jira for Edo Tensei).
19. That was one of her traits that scared Jiraiya and fascinated Orochimaru.
20. Remember how Oro grabbed Jiraiya's neck when the latter was trying to cover with hair jutsu? On the snake, in Tsnade's arc. Orochimaru could have easily kill Jiraiya by pulling the sword out of the mouth (arteries are right there) but he didn't. As well as he could kill Tsunade when she was still shaking - just aim for the neck or the heart. Instead, he just injured her lung and kicked her which is not a big deal for the kind of shinoby like her at all.. Also he helped Anko not accidentally kill herself but it would be way much profitable to let her do it. "Orochimaru has no feelings".
21. The reason he suddenly wanted to kill Tsunade instead of forcing her to heal his arms as it was planned (which is weird since it will not going to get him heals and he kinda said that he wouldn't want to kill her just minutes ago) is that not only she refused to help him (he thought he could work it out) but she also prefered the village over him (from his point of view). Out if everyone she was the closest to being able to understand him since the village caused her painful losses too but nevertheless she agreed to be on it's side.
22. He wasn't fighting her back in the end partly because he thought he deserved that. Somewhere deep inside hahah.
23. Tsunade got a fear to develop deep bonds so they probably weren't very close with Shizune (also the way she knocked her down in this hotel.. oh).
24. Orochimaru will be here when she'll die.
25. Orochimaru's eng dub to Tsunade: "I often wondered what it would be like to ring that pretty neck yours". No comments.
26. Orochimaru is either bi/pan or ace. Anything or nothing lmao
27. Hiruzen knew about at least some of the Oro’s illegal experiments and was okay just as he was okay with the Foundation all the time. Because it’s useful. Then he has discovered he went too far OR he knew everything and oro just became too inconvenient because of his methods. The way Orochimaru tells Sasuke about reasons they are well treated as the criminals is based on in his experience with Hiruzen.
28. As you may know the lyrics in Orochimaru’s music theme goes “don’t talk with the silence of the heart”. It was taken from one Indian song that also had lines like “don’t question life too much”, ”pain arose somewhere in the chest”, “don’t speak to the wounds of the heart”. Though I’m not sure 100% because I was translating it with some hindi dictionary with like zero knowledge of hindi
29. I like to think that this “silence of the heart” theme and the fact that he called his village a hidden sound village are somehow connected. The hidden sound is the possible explanation of all things waiting to be listened to but the truth is silent and you know it deep in your heart and it bothers you. The world is silent just like the life is meaningless but people can only hear. *Sigh* anyways
30. Orochimaru’s journey is the one about accepting death. When he saw Karin released her chains while was trying to get to Sasuke he understood that the death is a part of human’s strength.
Can’t wait to feel that everything I wrote is wrong or not enough or stupid and obvious lol. Anyways, it’s something that I wanted to share until I move to some other fandom.

From @ednamrenee 's comments that are way too wonderful and insightful to keep to the notes only and I'll try to go point by point with this since there is so much I agree to with this (excuse the messy thoughts as I go)
Lol, and I enjoy hearing the perspectives of those who have a harsher take on JC than me. 😂 I agree with you re: CQL, it definitely didn't seem to know where to put JC's character, which is a shame because he's a very interesting one. I don't mind if CQL-onlies want to that to that version, media consumption being a very personal experience and all that, but if I have to read one more interpretation like JC thought the life-debt between WQ and him was paid..
I do think that it's a detriment to the adaptions closer to the novel and the AU that CQL is to be so heavily tied together into the western fandom. Since they are so different from each other they really can't be compared to each other. The characters are not alike which lends to the very out of place interpretations that become so heavily popular.
...when he got her out of prison, I'm gonna go insane. Never mind that it's not what happened in novel canon (or even donghua canon, I don't remember about the manhua), never mind that it was an added scene to go forth with the one-sided JC/WQ thing, never mind that even if it had been canon, it in no way balances the life-debt JC owed the Wen siblings (and I'm not even considering the golden core transfer, we can't hold over him what he doesn't know).
In terms of the debt he owed even with the awkward romance they tried to make, if it was "payed back" it does not excuse him from essentially hiding that away and letting it be buried under the calls to exterminate all Wens. It does not erase the fact that they had helped, and he chose to just not expand upon this when their safety was at stake out of, I suppose, petty jealousy of Wei Wuxian (I really don't know what CQL was going for with his resentment towards Wei Wuxian since he'd had that since he was young. But, it also makes whatever love he did have for Wen Qing and Wei Wuxian so much more shallow then it was in the novel and starkly more cruel for a character they tried to humanize while keeping the novel points skewing the themes of Jiang Cheng as a character.
It just feels like a sorry understanding of life-debts and that's why culturally huge thing, so...no? Don't do that? It's fine having JC not pay much attention to the debts. It makes him interesting, it makes him coldly pragmatic over valuing even things that his own culture holds dear. It's a great trait, and even a good one for a leader maybe. I am up for JC deviating for the norm when it's about such virtues while WWX sticks to them, and JC wasn't exactly sneering...
Yes! This is Jiang Cheng as a character at his simplest and why I personally find him fascinating! He is pragmatic and cold to a fault that works well in the cultivation world MDZS set up, however, it doesn't work the same in CQL when you have the boogyman story of the Yin Iron as the root of all bad instead. The character actions no longer line up with the theme of the original work since so much emphasis is placed on a piece of metal ruining everything instead of the cruelty of humans alone.
...at the mo dao until it put him in a politically delicate situation. That's fine! Interesting character traits! But like. Fanon perception more often than not strips all of these from him and that's just unacceptable to me. I'm not even going to speak of the entire genocide thing, despite knowing about the innocence of the Wens and how they're just feeble old people and women and children.
The bleed over of CQL trying to make Jiang Cheng softer in his youth made headcanons with no true base for it in his behavior as an adult a lot more muddied. As an adult in any adaption, he's not really shown to have any positive sort of sentimentality towards Wei Wuxian. Certainly with Jin Ling in CQL it implied heavily that he did hit him just like Madam Yu to Wei Wuxian, where at least in the novel he was just... a very aggressively, unkind, cruel uncle that spoiled his nephew and gave in with that cycle of negative action over progressive action (The massive narrative mirror between how Jiang Cheng and Lan Wangji raised a child left to them suddenly). He was not sorry for the hand he took in killing the Wens, he blamed them for taking his right hand man away and putting his sect, in what he thought, was unneeded trouble, morals be damned like his mother. Like she had said about Lan Wangji and Jin Zixuan, they stuck their head too high and they brought death upon themselves for talking back to a higher power for acting on their kindness over politics.
(Lol, this got long, sorry!) I absolutely agree that in terms of interpersonal relationships, Jin Ling is the only one with whom Jiang Cheng can begin to grow. The thing about the Yunmeng brothers is that whatever was between them is now tainted by bad blood (quite literally) on both sides, both of them have hurt each, knowingly or unknowingly. Both of them are a source for mental stress for each other, that's canon for any adaptation.
I understand the urge to want a rosier, I guess, take on this. I'm more used to the novel interpretations and neither ever really use the wording of being like family, or brothers, this was left to Jiang Yanli specifically calling Wei Wuxian her brother as the only Jiang to do that. The barrier of their social class is still a backbone of Jiang Cheng's possessiveness in thinking Wei Wuxian was his to order about as a sect leader twisting the innocent promise Wei Wuxian gave. But both don't associate anything positive with the other anymore. Wei Wuxian certainly isn't sentimental for Yunmeng Jiang as a home when he is resurrected or Jiang Cheng. He was planning to run off in the opposite direction of it to start as someone new! That does not read to me as pining or love anymore for the past (and I've written a piece before how CQL sanitized his longing of Lan Wangji solely by replacing it with Lotus Pier want and Jiang Yanli as a parental figure).
Can we not act like "ohh it's just miscommunication, they're both just dumb and horrible at feelings". It's not that simple. MXTX establishes this painstakingly, and just loving someone has never been the point. YZY loved JC too, she still managed to mess up his head. Love isn't the point, which sounds very hurtful I know, but it's also true. Reconciliation after all this bad blood takes a huge amount of emotional labour on both parts.
I can not reiterate enough that love was not the only thing needed between the Yunmeng siblings. None of them really ever understood each other and had different wants. Jiang Cheng never understood Wei Wuxian and his fascination of Lan Wangji out of discomfort. He did not accept whatever was going on there and later used it as shaming fodder. Both have done an unforgivable disservice to the other and really, nothing can mend old hurts as bad as they were. The kindest option is to leave each other alone and move on with a happier life for the self. The codependency of this is more than disturbing when used in reconciliation material especially for Wei Wuxian who was never that and is the one who actively asked for Jiang Cheng to move on, because he does not have the will to extend the effort of rebuilding a relationship anymore. It's a very human response to a broken relationship and not cruel, it just is a realistic view of a bad relationship that always ended for the worst when they tried to talk. Their own ideals are nothing alike and clash, they are not what the other needs and Wei Wuxian by the end of the novel is ready to leave it and move on with others without Jiang Cheng.
And, never apologize for long thoughts! I love it! This is why I very much enjoy interactions on here that are productive. Seriously I am a Jiang Cheng fan, I am just not into the gum drop sweetness for reconciliation. They are a disservice to him and his end that can better him without the crutch of Wei Wuxian there, which is exactly how his resentment spawned in the first place. He has a chance to do better by himself on his own terms, that doesn't need to be ruined with a codependent bond that had been forced and very one-sided in the end and remained as that for 13 years.

Hii, I don't know if there's some rules that I'm not following, if I am please forgive me I didn't mean to be disrespectful but I would really like to request August 27 for the language of birthdays. Thank you in advance and sorry if I make any mistake. 🥰🥰😍
Language Of Birthdays: August 27 - Virgo
[You can find the rest of the series here; or check out my masterlist]
The Day Of Social Ideals
No matter what their station in life, those born on August 27 tend to identify with the common man, the underdog and the downtrodden. They are painfully aware of the inadequacies of this world. Therefore, as regards everyday life, they are constantly asking themselves how it may be bettered. Though their upholding of ideals may be unselfish, however, most born on this day do have a personal stake in the admiration or even adulation they receive from those whom they nurture or defend.
August 27 people run the gamut from intellectuals and idea people who value principles for their own sake to more pragmatic types whose focus is on impacting in a tangible way on life around them. For both types, it is human nature and human needs, both material and spiritual, that concerns them. Also, for both types, the same danger presents itself: that in confronting the shortcomings of the world, they may grow frustrated or negative.
Many August 27 people need to feel that they are indispensable to the well-being of their family or social group. Indeed, they cannot suffer the thought that things will run smoothly without them. However, the more highly evolved of this day gradually develop an ever greater capacity for unconditional giving, asking few rewards if any in return for their help.So basic is social involvement to August 27 people's lives, that they are rarely successful when they devote themselves to furthering an isolated career, accumulating power for its own sake or amassing wealth. Excessive power drives usually lead those born on this day to breakdowns and the frustration of their schemes and plans. It is essential that such August 27 people realize how intimately their fate is tied up with that of their fellow human beings, and put to use their remarkable social skills.
There is a type of August 27 person who in youth is confronted with the hard realities of this world, and thus suppresses, even eradicates his/her idealistic nature. Indeed, no one may know this person to be an idealist. But though such a person has no illusions about the kind- ness of the world, and indeed may be quite cynical about human nature, he/she usually retains an individual notion of being a "standup person" and can still contribute in a pragmatic way to the well-being of others.
This day holds the promise of tremendous spiritual evolution and growth, but equally the danger of succumbing to ego temptations. The choice clearly lies with the August 27 per- son. Those born on this day who are prone to depression and negative thinking— so called realists who are in fact pessimists—would do well to roll up their shirtsleeves and pitch in to help the common good of their family and friends. Joining a club, social group or institution that works for the betterment of the community is strongly advised for them, so that they may realize their human potential.
Strengths:
Socially aware
Caring
Idealistic
Weaknesses:
Over involved
Depressive
Stress prone
Advice
Those born on August 27 are often completely uninterested in their own physical health or appearance. Even worse, many run themselves down through excessive work done for others. If those born on this day come to feel unappreciated they must beware of depressions. which can come on rather suddenly, for example when an August 27 parent's children grow up and he she doesn't feel needed anymore. For those born on this day. good health is directly related to the stability of their inner spiritual and religious values, but also of course to their ability to maintain sound dietary, sleep and exercise habits. Avoiding alcohol at times of depression is important for them.
Don't wallow in your personal problems
If you are not helping others, begin at once
The energy you receive from these endeavors will light your way and help you find your place in the world
Don't allow fixed ideals to limit your thinking and creativity

Hiii!! I’m the last anon. I loved reading your take on the Oskar situation! To be honest I was a little paranoid because of all the Gale hot takes on Reddit. Most of them seem to think he will betray you in the end and it’s a little discouraging! Your post made me feel better tho :)
Hello there again!
Ah... Reddit... Honestly, I'm so TIRED of reading their bullshit when a friend of mine shares with me some post there. Most of the time they do stuff based on plain lies. Like, all the drama about “Gale asks you to cheat your LI to whom you are married” XD like 5 shades of lies… it is just such a level of garbage. People doing that can't read, and can't understand a game which qualifies for +18. They should play tetris, please. XD
I think Gale can betray you like all chars can: it depends on your actions. If you go evil, and do the goblin path, Gale leaves the party unless you roll the dice and get a very high number. In that case, he remains, but he is super bitter and filled with regret. I can see that this Gale will “stop” an evil main char from doing more evil if you keep going on that path. Gale is a char who defends life. Like Ifan in DOS2 [a char I can speak a lot, and I can do a lot of comparisons with Gale, and even though both games are different world, the “larian style” with which they write their characters is kind of “obvious”, but that's another topic, I jump a lot in different topics XD sorry], As I was saying… the most sacred thing for Gale is Life. If Gale starts seeing that you are a menace, bigger than his own orb problem, you are going to be killed by him. Or attempt to be so. Specially if he can see you are beyond redemption [which is something he believes, but he needs to see you trying].
I'm pretty convinced of that. We already have a char who tries to kill you, and in fact he kills you if you fail the dice. If you know about datamining stuff... There is a situation where 2 companions are going to struggle to kill one another in their sleep. Swen said in some interviews that this mechanic is going to happen. So, it seems fair to expect this from the rest of the chars, Gale included. But it has to be “in character”. After all, it's the same style we find in DOS2. Again, I know I've said that it's pretty poor to compare BG3 with Dragon Age games... BUT comparing it with DOS2, you can see certain patterns in Larian style that make you suspect certain things. If you played DOS2, you can remember that ALL your companions can betray you, if you give them reasons enough to do it. Which is, to no one's surprise, how most RPGs with companions work. Again, Reddit just does a drama out of nowhere, and magnifies everything related to Gale just to make people hate him even if nobody played with him. XD So… how can you criticise a char you never played with??? Meh.
Gale is a flawed char. Perfect chars are boring. Gale's main flaws are emotions, but we also see him in a moment of his life where he has reflected about his mistakes. A lot of his approvals and scenes and comments are DEEPLY related to “forgiveness” and to “accept the mistakes of the youth”, and “learn from your mistakes”, “second chances”, and “take responsibility for it”. He approves if you redeem Kagha, he asks you to be kind to children who do big fuck-ups, he approves and is relieved when he is forgiven for not having told you about his orb after the party [which is pretty weird… because we have like 4 scenes where we are hinted that whatever is happening in his chest is pretty wild, but well, maybe we can fail ALL the dices and inferring that fact with the death protocol is too much for us... who knows]. If we know how Larian works, we know that most of their chars represent “concepts”. I think Gale explore all the concepts related to mistakes and forgiveness [which are very human concepts] : accepting to make mistakes, but taking responsibility for them, even if it's a bit late, even if it's harder, even if it's beyond forgiveness.
Gale, in the second dream, speaks very clearly: he knows the tadpole dreams are not true because [we can infer] he saw Mystra forgiving him. And he KNEW that was a lie. Because he has accepted he is beyond forgiveness. He desires it, sure, because it's human nature to desire things you can't have, but also he is a pragmatic, realistic man: it cannot be her. Because he knows that when he uses magic, when he taps from the Weave, she is “disapproving” him [all this info is in that video, people only needs to think about why he says what he says and check lore in wiki, that’s all].
After the romance you can ask him if he is in love with Mystra. I found a meta in tumbl pretty long but very worth reading that I share in many points: human love is not just that sexual, romantic love. Love can get complex shapes, including the divine love. And Gale has that: he has the ashy love for an ex, that played with him because that's what a Goddess does in Faerûn [people should learn SO much lore before thinking that Mystra needs to be defended of anything XD], but he also is a devote to her, because she IS and REPRESENTS all what it's life for him: Magic. So, any person expecting him to “get over her” as you do with a normal ex.... are ignoring the immense religious and arcane part his story has—inserted in Faerûn. So yeah, he may have a complex love for Mystra, but betraying you if you are not an asshole to him, or evil, I cannot see it. Because that’s not what Larian has done in previous games either. I wish people could understand that Larian is not Bioware, and DOS2 and BG3 are not Dragon Age.  You see... People see Gale as if BG3 were a high-school sitcom. I have no idea how much can I stress the fact that Mystra is a goddess in a world where gods play their wars between them by using mortals as paws.... Anyway. I have some few, old metas in my blog [probably too out-of-date since I did those in patch 1 I think], and like I said, there are some really good deep metas in tumblr too on this matter. Reddit is just a pit of brainless hatred. To me, reading Reddit seems a waste of time (and mental sanity, too). And I hope Larian doesn't focus only on the crap that appears there, because it's very discouraging to think that these people with so little ability to understand contexts will shape the game eventually.
Have a good day!

Hi Daniel: How are you doing these days? I don't know why, but I was thinking about you and remembering how you. Last time you wrote, you were asked to pray about God's will before the Blessed Sacrament, during that retreat. I hope you are well and blessed, Fr. Angel
Hi Daniel, You sent this a long time ago, when you had questions about what a priest said to you during a retreat. I never answered because I wasn’t sure if it was more of a comment or a question, but I would say now that prayer during vocational discernment is partially pragmatic (seeing if one has the practical means for carrying through on formation and becoming a priest), but also has an element of “inspiration.” Prayer, during vocations discernment (IMO) is to also help us see if we are in love enough (inspired enough), with the Lord and the Church, to give seminary a try. Anyway, I think of you from time to time and pray that you are doing well. You wrote once that your sister was pregnant and getting married. Did she have her baby? Is she alright these days. God bless you very much! Fr. Angel
Father, I heard that God took you away recently, so I logged in, and it grieved me to see this message in my box. It looks to be six years unanswered now. I am moved that you would think of me and give consideration to all my little trifles. Even though you will not read my response on this Earth, I wish to answer you all the same.
I'm doing well right now. My heart was never large enough to give serious consideration to the priesthood, but you never thought that was a big problem in your previous answers. I married my girlfriend from college, who I spent several years fawning over, several years dating, then several years engaged. We've been married for three years now, and though we have not yet been blessed with children, I couldn't imagine life without her (and I can hardly remember my life before!)
After college, I went on to grad school for my MFA and taught at a high school those same two years before being let go due to downsizing in the English department. It was a temporary certificate to teach, so I never went back to it. It stressed me out terribly, besides. I wasn't able to find work teaching at college so I worked at a printshop, and now, I'm at an assistive tech company answering the telephone. It's not as interesting as teaching was, but it pays the bills. The same year I was fired, I was married, and also disowned by my own family--a long story I won't get into here. I'm looking forward to my hundredfold.
I've been pursuing publication with my thesis from my MFA, a collection of short fiction. Nothing has taken yet save for one of my stories, which has been delayed for a year now. I still submit to magazines at least once a month to keep up the pace. I've been submitting seriously for a year and only one piece has received a personal note on the rejection. That's supposed to be a good sign! Still, the lack of success kills my motivation to write any further. It's hard to perform without an audience.
My wife is a realistic artist, and she also submits to shows and contests. Maybe it's the subject matter or just the area we live in, but she's having similar trouble getting recognition. Right now, she's working on getting her master's at the Florence Academy. We hope that the new skills push her over the to and that this program helps her get the connections she needs.
My sister, whom you advised to pursue convalidation, did end up receiving convalidation. She re-entered the Church along with her husband and their three little girls when they were all baptized some years ago. It was a big hassle, but they pulled through. The priest my brother-in-law was doing RCIA with ended up passing away, and because of military, they had to move parishes--basically losing all their progress. It wasn't until he was out of the military that they were finally able to get it done. I know my sister was put off by her priest previously and saw no way forward. Through your advice and encouragement, she was able to become right with God again. We owe much to you, Father.
Now, she's had her fourth baby--a little boy named Abram. She lives on a farm with her husband where they have chickens, cows, a couple dogs, and a donkey. Right now, she is pursuing training to be a sonogram technician so that she can support the pro-life community where she lives. She's very much an inspiration to me--humble, loving, and strong.
I regret that I haven't been on Tumblr lately, particularly to respond to you here and see your wit at work. Life became busy, and I switched to other sites to evangelize, Facebook and Reddit mainly, though I'm mostly just on Facebook now. I hope you continue to think about me from time to time and pray for my little troubles in Paradise, too.
Pax tecum,
Daniel J Dupuy

hi okay i hate sending asks to people without knowing them but you seem kind so im trying: during the break, i’ve been working my way through VM, and i’m at episode 75. my question, because i’ve read some of your more recent meta, is “what’s Percy’s deal?” i know he’s loved by the fandom, but i can’t find myself relating to him, and i find his assertions that he’s the only one with a plan offputting. is there more context you can give to me about percy’s character that explains his motivations?
aww, thank you!
(and yeah, asks like this are totally fine, i totally get that anxiety, good job on sending this!)
i mean, first off, you don't have to like a character everyone else does? if you don't relate to percy you can just, not relate to percy, that's fine
(and to be fair, as much as i love him as a character, i would not want him as a friend, because he's a very flawed person that has a lot to work on, but in fiction those traits are interesting to watch rather than difficult to deal with)
but, percy's deal! the short answer is people generally like him because taliesin's funny and charismatic and he does morally grey right, which is rare and a fun thing to explore (also in his relationships with other people, the entire vex-vax-percy-keyleth square is full of neat parallels and opposites and interesting things and i have whole essays in my head on all six combos there)
i don’t know which posts you’ve read so i’ll link this one here too, just to cover a couple more of the generally unnoticed aspects of his character, and things i like about percy
he’s also far from perfect, as you’ve noted, he does tend to believe he’s the smartest person in any given room, because he’s young and clever and used to being that, which you’re allowed to find off putting, but i will say i find he does that less than a lot of characters of his general archetype? he listens to pike, he listens to keyleth, he listens to vex, he respects when they have more knowledge than him on a particular subject, he’s not above asking for help. and generally most of the arguments he has with keyleth on that subject aren’t him asserting he knows more than her, but more a matter of principles and values (they’re a really interesting pair that way, they have similar backgrounds, both children of royalty running away from the crown, but they’re such opposites. percy is a natural leader who would rather anyone rule than him, keyleth fumbles her way through all of it but sticks to it because she doesn’t want to let anyone down, percy is a pragmatist, keyleth is an idealist, they both are too focused on the big picture but in two completely different ways, i could write a whole other post on this, but to get to my point, they wouldn’t be such good balances for each other if percy didn’t absolutely respect where keyleth is coming from)
for the long answer, i’m gonna break this down into parts and try to get to the core of percy's character and why he is the way he is
(under the cut bc this gets long)
1 - heavy trauma
like... this is the really really big one. percy, at age 17 or 18, had his entire life up to that point completely destroyed. his family was killed, his friends were killed, people he trusted like family (professor anders, who was a more present figure in percy's life than his actual parents) betrayed him and helped the briarwoods, he was imprisoned in his own castle's dungeons and tortured for information, they threw his siblings' bodies in there with him to make a point, cassandra helped him escape but as far as he knew she died helping him. he has two years of his life after that he straight up doesn't remember, his hair turned white from the stress of it.
trying to go after ripley the first time didn't work, he was captured and left to starve in a prison cell, for the first few months of travelling with vox machina he genuinely believed it wasn't real, because realistically no one was gonna come save him, this was just a hallucination of his dying mind. returning to whitestone he was forced to confront the fact that literally everyone he ever knew growing up (with the sole exception of archibald) was either dead or working with the briarwoods, and even after retaking the city there's a lot that can never be repaired.
and he's just... never really dealt with any of this? like, he gave vox machina the technical details of what happened to him in the briarwood arc, because they needed to know that information, but the first time he actually started processing his trauma, the first time he admits it out loud to anyone, is the final episode of campaign one. before then it had been occasional snide or handwavey comments, and like, he'll let himself feel the anger over it (in the beginning of the story he encouraged it, because then he didn't have to feel anything else), but he's never processed the grief, never admitted to himself how badly that affected him
which means he's got a lot of pent up emotions in there that he just keeps burying, and sometimes they come out in unhealthy ways. having so much taken from him also makes him really motivated to keep the things he does have - he’s got some deep set abandonment issues and takes any kind of betrayal really badly, don’t know if you’ve got up to the scanlan stuff by the time i post this, but that’s something to keep in mind as to why he acts the way he does there. (and it’s not more explicit because percy was raised nobility, keeping a brave face through anything is part of who he is, he tends to cover emotions he’s insecure about in snark or indifference or, for the intense ones, anger, because those are the things he thinks he’s allowed to show, but the real emotions show up occasionally, when they’re particularly strong, or if you’re reading between the lines. he really does care a lot about vox machina)
2 - legacy and loyalty.
speaking of nobility, it's hard to do a character study on percy without mentioning whitestone and the house of de rolo. this is the number one thing to percy. he was raised to respect title and name, and most importantly, raised to respect the people he represents - both the townsfolk of whitestone and also percy's ancestors and future de rolo generations. whitestone is more important than any one life, he has a duty to protect and serve it, and that comes before any personal wants he may have. it's also important to him for family reasons - he was a pretty lonely child, but he loved reading about the history of the city, all the weird ghost stories whitestone had even before the briarwoods. it probably made him feel more connected to all of that, this is the place he belongs. and after his family dies, it becomes even more important, because this is his connection to them. the soul of a city lives as long as its people, by protecting what's left, he keeps a little bit of what came before
(and also in just tidbits to understand percy's character, he sees all cities and man-made things the same way - in a world where some races live for centuries or millennia, their history exists mostly by word of mouth, you can physically talk to people who were around 500 years ago and get their take on things - humans don't have that, they get 100 years at most, so the things they build are vital to their heritage. this is how you keep people alive long after they're gone, by honouring what they created. and especially for someone so concerned with legacy and history, percy literally says abandoning westruun would be blasphemy, because the place people grew up is important, yes it's better that they live, but letting the city be abandoned and destroyed would be an irreparable act of violence.)
this is the number one thing on percy's mind when evaluating anything about himself, where do i come from, and what do i leave behind? which is a question that has a lot of moments to be tested, because of my next point...
3 - pragmatism and terrible thoughts
when it comes down to it, percy is a very ends justify the means kind of person. he finds it very easy to square away any kind of collateral damage as long as it gets him to his end goal. see: trial of the take, where he's fine to catch his friends in the blast radius of a new bomb design because he's so excited that it worked, preparing to fight vorugal and resigning himself to potentially having to kill innocent people to kill the dragon (he wasn’t okay with that, but he would do it), also his conscious decision to let ripley go, knowing she would lead to the deaths of thousands because it was her or the briarwoods and he wanted revenge
(this is by his own admission his lowest point and worst mistake, because as mentioned, he thinks about the consequences of his actions near constantly, he knew she would reproduce his guns and they would lead to a whole new form of warfare. but in that moment he was just blinded by grief and way too emotionally burnt out and did not have the capacity to care. and he spends the rest of the campaign and honestly probably the rest of his life trying to make up for that one)
he's also, by his own admission, someone who has a lot of bad thoughts he doesn't act on, he's very clever and creative and ideas for ways to use those skills for violence or vengeance come easily to him (like, percy as an actual villain would be ripley but worse, ripley's intelligent but a very direct point a to point b kind of thinker, percy has multiple times criticised her lack of imagination, a percy with her lack of morals would be terrifying)
(honestly this is why i was seeing percy so much in taliesin's narrative telephone, because "sometimes i wake up having dreamed of a terrible thing, and normally i just file that away for things that i would never do, because i wanna maintain friendships, but then LIAM did something to me." and the whole being absolutely fine with throwing the rest of the cast under the bus just to enact revenge on liam was quintessential percy)
but we’ve seen the pragmatic anti hero everywhere, anyone can be a terrible person, and have reasons for it, that alone doesn’t make an interesting character (at least not for me)
what does, is my last point
4 - trying to be good
i still vividly remember when i first watched campaign one, being really surprised at how much percy asked for help? like, i went in expecting the usual full on demon possession storyline, i expected percy to hide how bad it was, i expected him to make poor decisions without realising he was doing it until he was in too deep to back out
and like, he had some of that. but at the first sign of things being out of his control, he asked his friends for help. he let pike greater restoration him. he told vax to kill him if things ever got too out of hand. he was really, genuinely scared about what he got himself into and what he might do because of it. there was never a point where he pretended, even to himself, that making a deal with orthax was okay. the minute he realised there was a demon involved, he was working to stop it. and yeah, by the time he realised it was already a bit too late, there were already some things out of his control (and also taliesin kept having the worst rolls against the whitestone corruption which was really fun on a meta level), which is how things got as bad as they did. but honestly, all things considered, there’s very little to criticise about the way percy handled himself in the briarwood arc.
and he keeps doing that, trying to get better. he struggles with it, he struggles a lot, against his anger issues, against all the trauma, against the fact that he really doesn’t want to be here and things would be so much easier if he were dead. but he recognises he holds grudges too easily, so he starts actively trying to forgive those who’ve wronged him (this is something he and vex have in common, and something they were working on together before they were together, which probably helped a lot in getting them to that point as well). he recognises he makes poor decisions when he’s angry, so he starts learning to step back in those moments and leave the decisions to someone else. he has never not owned up to his mistakes, he takes responsibility for everything he’s done, and if he notices a problem he can’t solve himself, he asks for help.
and i find that fun to explore. like, percy’s been likened to hamlet in the actual show, and i was the kid who got super obsessed with hamlet when i was like 15 because i was in that same mental space of suicidal self hatred and existential melancholy but also thinking i was the smartest person in any given room and being too young to have gotten over the arrogance that makes you ignore everyone else’s needs for the sake of indulging your own problems. and then i got older and realised there are smarter ways to go about things, like having empathy and appreciating the light in the world and not being a dickhead to people because it makes you feel better, and maybe hamlet can be justified and in the wrong at the same time. and while there’s some stuff i won’t spoil for you, percy after ripley kills him is definitely starting to learn that, which you rarely see in the hamlet archetype, bc everyone’s like “ah yes so Deep so Important who cares what bad things this person did they had Trauma and are Clever”
well, percy cares about the bad things he did, and cares about not doing those anymore. so like, he’s still a disaster of a person bc he’s like 23 and no one has their life together at 23, especially not someone in percy’s situation, and honestly i find that fun to watch as well bc i like watching characters make stupid mistakes and do stuff i’d never approve of in real life, and as i mentioned at the start, taliesin makes captivating and funny characters. but yeah, that’s generally where percy’s at, most of the time

( PART 1: DA + ASTROLOGY )
PART 2: DIGIMON ADVENTURE + MBTI
Taichi - ESTP Yamato - INFP Sora - ENFJ Koushirou - INTJ Mimi - ESFP Jou - ISTJ Takeru - ENFP Hikari - ISFP Daisuke - ESFP Miyako - ENFP Iori - ISTJ Ken - INFJ
Discussion and Commentary below!
If you’ve read some of my previous headcanons about the MBTI, and in particular this very popular post from four (!) years ago, you may find I’ve changed my mind a lot.
An important thing about this typology (or any other one, really) is that it’s quite easy to just look into some websites and make decisions based on the keywords used to describe each type. Which is what I used to do. Keywords are helpful to help us get the “basic picture” (hence why I quote them in this post), but now I believe that you have to read actual theory in order to understand the subtle differences between each type and make more educated guesses.
Since then, I’ve been reading more deeply into MBTI and the Functions. Consequently, the way I understand the MBTI has changed significantly, and so have my Headcanons.
It’s been particularly interesting to learn about the Inferior Function, or the “dark side” of each personality type. The more I read about it, it became surprising that how it seemed to describe most of the adventure kids’ characters arcs incredibly well. This is another reason why the combination Chosen Children + MBTI is such a fascinating and fun thought exercise!
It should be noted that different authors can have widely different interpretations of types, which is why, for the sake of simplicity and coherence, I’ve only read 3-4 main sources when preparing this post. And I tried stay away from popular MBTI websites and resources that exist around the internet, most which can have a slightly misleading/superficial vision of each type.
However, this doesn’t mean my HCs are “RIGHT” or that other people can’t have better ideas. I’m as biased about the characters as anyone else. I’d be very happy to hear alternative takes!
***
Taichi - ESTP Dominant function: Se
Flexible and tolerant, they take a pragmatic approach focused on immediate results. Theories and conceptual explanations bore them - they want to act energetically to solve the problem. Focus on the here-and-now, spontaneous, enjoy each moment that they can be active with others. Enjoy material comforts and style. Learn best through doing.
Taichi is pretty easy to type, and most ESTP descriptions fit him nicely. Thompson notes the archetype of ESTP is James Bond and Xena the Warrior Princess; I think the character of Taichi, who represents Courage, fits in the same tradition — a bold, impulsive, adventurous leader who is good at strategizing and is able to make though decisions, but is is also very charismatic and charming.  Taichi’s tendency to become thoughtful, introspective, and indecisive under stress can be explained by the inferior function, Ni.
Yamato - INFP Dominant function: Fi
Idealistic, loyal to their values and to people who are important to them. Want an external life that is congruent with their values. Curious, quick to see possibilities, can be catalysts for implementing ideas. Seek to understand people and to help them fulfill their potential. Adaptable, flexible, and accepting unless a value is threatened.
By contrast, Yamato is always the most difficult to type! I ended up using INFP rather than INFJ, because I think it makes more sense for his dominant function to be Fi (introverted feeling): “Due to the introverted nature of Fi, INFPs’ status as feelers is not always evident from without. When immersed in Fi, they can seem a bit cool, aloof, or indifferent.“ (Drenthe). This type is pretty well representative of Yamato’s caring, passionate and caring side, and especially his conflict during Adventure is beyond, his search for self and meaning. Yamato’s more critical, aggressive, angry, and impetuous side is easily explained by him falling under the influence of the inferior function of this type, Te.
Sora - ENFJ Dominant function: Fe
Warm, empathetic, responsive, and responsible. Highly attuned to the emotions, needs, and motivations of others. Find potential in everyone, want to help others fulfill their potential. May act as catalysts for individual and group growth. Loyal, responsive to praise and criticism. Sociable, facilitate others in a group, and provide inspiring leadership.
Another character who’s relatively difficult to type. I see Sora as being in the middle of many of the Preference axis, hence why I initially typed her as something pretty difference different. But now I’m pretty convinced her dominant function is Fe, even though she’s probably only 51% Extroverted. She leans more towards iNtuition than Sensing: Sora’s definitely someone who can pick up things intuitively, especially when it comes to human relationships. So, ESFJ could probably work as well, but I see her as more of an NF type than a SJ type. Sora’s tendency to become hypersensitive, stubborn and withdrawn when under stress? That’s the inferior function, Ti.
Koushirou - INTJ Dominant function: Ni
Have original minds and great drive for implementing their ideas and achieving their goals. Quickly see patterns in external events and develop long-range explanatory perspectives. When committed, organize a job and carry it through. Skeptical and independent, have high standards of competence and performance - for themselves and others.
This is an example of how learning more about Functions made me change my mind! I believe Koushirou is the text-book definition of INTJ and the Ni function. Koushirou isn’t just someone who thinks — he creates knew knowledge and connects theoretical possibilities. One of the effects of the inferior function of this type, Ni, is an “Obsessive focus on external data”, which means that they can become obsessed with controlling small details, which is what Koushirou tends to do under stress.
Mimi - ESFP Dominant function: Se
Outgoing, friendly, and accepting. Exuberant lovers of life, people, and material comforts. Enjoy working with others to make things happen. Bring common sense and a realistic approach to their work, and make work fun. Flexible and spontaneous, adapt readily to new people and environments. Learn best by trying a new skill with other people.
Mimi is a rather obvious fit for this type, not only with her bubbly and happy exterior, but also her naïveté and compassion towards others (Crest of Purity).
Jou - ISTJ Dominant function: Si
Quiet, serious, earn success by thoroughness and dependability. Practical, matter-of-fact, realistic, and responsible. Decide logically what should be done and work toward it steadily, regardless of distractions. Take pleasure in making everything orderly and organized - their work, their home, their life. Value traditions and loyalty.
Jou’s type seems pretty straightforward. The characteristics of this type to fit him (and the Crest of Honesty) very well. The inferior Function of this type is Ni, manifested as impulsiveness and catastrophizing — classic Jou moves whenever he looses his cool.
Takeru - ENFP Dominant function: Ne
Warmly enthusiastic and imaginative. See life as full of possibilities. Make connections between events and information very quickly, and confidently proceed based on the patterns they see. Want a lot of affirmation from others, and readily give appreciation and support. Spontaneous and flexible, often rely on their ability to improvise and their verbal fluency.
Takeru is REALLY hard to type. Mostly because, just like his brother, he isn’t as transparent as he seems. Behind that charming, open, happy façade, Takeru runs deep. I ended up choosing ENFP is described as the most optimistic of all types (Crest of Hope), and they are very charismatic and inspiring as well. The “dark side” of this type can be hopelessness or depression (see also: tri. Chapter 3!)
Hikari - ISFP Dominant function: Fi
Quiet, friendly, sensitive, and kind. Enjoy the present moment, what's going on around them. Like to have their own space and to work within their own time frame. Loyal and committed to their values and to people who are important to them. Dislike disagreements and conflicts, do not force their opinions or values on others.
Hiakri is another one whose type isn’t obvious, but maybe for different reasons than the other characters I hesitated about — we just don’t see enough of her. I think you can make a strong argument for her being an Intuitive type, but ultimately I think Fi represents her better.
Daisuke - ESFP Dominant function: Se
I know it’s reductive to say Daisuke and Taichi have different personality type, but that’s easy to understand if you see them as being in different stages of type development.
Miyako - ENFP Dominant function: Ne
I’ve always thought Takeru and Miyako are pretty alike, hence why I think they would both fit this type.
Iori - ISTJ Dominant function: Si
Again, Iori and Jou are pretty alike, although at different stages of their personality development. I could see Iori a ISTP/ISTJ, too — to be fair, I haven’t made up my mind totally about him.
Ken - INFJ Dominant function: Ni
Seek meaning and connection in ideas, relationships, and material possessions. Want to understand what motivates people and are insightful about others. Conscientious and committed to their firm values. Develop a clear vision about how best to serve the common good. Organized and decisive in implementing their vision.
Im just going to go and give Ken INFJ, although I’m not entirely sure it is the best fit. Ken is incredibly complex, but Ni seems to describe him fairly well. And certainly, the “dark side” of Ni, Se, can very well explain why Ken developed his Digimon Kaiser persona.
BONUS
A brief summary of the 8 Functions:
Introverted Intuition (Ni) collects conscious and subconscious information, and then synthesizes it to produce convergent impressions, insights, answers, and theories. It sees deep causes, patterns, and laws underlying sense data. It is characteristically penetrating and insightful.
Extraverted Intuition (Ne) surveys and creatively recombines a breadth of ideas, associations, patterns, and possibilities. It is characteristically innovative, divergent, open-ended, and non-discriminating. Outwardly, Ne users may present as scattered, random, quirky, witty, and ideationally curious.
Introverted Sensing (Si) retains, consolidates, and recollects historical and autobiographical information. It attends to and draws on a concentrated body of past experiences, routines, and traditions (i.e., the “tried and true”). It forgoes the constant pursuit of new or broad experiences, finding safety and security in stability and consistency. It also surveys inner bodily sensations.
Extraverted Sensing (Se) seeks extensive outer stimulation in the “here and now”—new sights, sounds, tastes, experiences, etc. It is open-ended and non-discriminating with respect to new experiences. It can also be associated with image-consciousness and observation skills, displaying a keen eye for detail. Outwardly, it may manifest as a recurrent desire for activities beyond talking (“Let’s do something!”).

“Introverted Thinking (Ti) utilizes deep and nuanced logic to examine techniques, problems, concepts, or theories. It seeks self-regulation and self-optimization through the development of personal skills, methods, and strategies. It takes a skeptical and reductive approach toward knowledge.
Extraverted Thinking (Te) uses explicit logic, including standardized methods, measurements, policies, and procedures, to make systems and operations more rational, efficient, or effective. This often involves working as part of an institution, be it corporate, scientific, academic, etc. Outwardly, Te delivers opinions and directives in a firm, direct, measured, and unemotional fashion. It may at times be perceived as harsh, tactless, or unsympathetic.”
“Introverted Feeling (Fi) explores and refines personal tastes and feelings, contributing to a strong sense of personal uniqueness. It is self-regulating and self-controlling, working to maintain inner emotional and moral order. It may also emotionally invest in a limited number of love objects, be they persons, animals, hobbies, or causes.
Extraverted Feeling (Fe) surveys a breadth of human emotions, values, and morals. It strives toward interpersonal rapport, consensus, and continuity. It can also be associated with effective communication and social intelligence, facilitating growth and transformation in others. Outwardly, it delivers opinions and directives in a direct yet tactful way, often with a sense of emotional urgency and conviction.

Far From Home Initial Review: What I Liked and What I Didn’t (Spoilers)
I saw Far From Home yesterday and jotted down some of my immediate responses, and then took some time to think on those points. I do intend to see the film again in the next few days and I may be adding to or amending this list.
Major spoilers below.
(CW: sexual harassment, victim blaming)
What I Liked:
That scene in the jet where Happy stitches Peter up was A+. Not just regarding the expert acting, but how the filmmakers decided to handle the scene. Peter’s fear, stress, and self doubt briefly shifts to anger, and he snaps at Happy for telling him to “relax.” He immediately apologizes, saying “i’m sorry, I shouldn't shout.” Happy in return responds by choosing his words more carefully. Happy then gives him a gentle and encouraging pep talk in which he recognizes Peter’s emotions, encourages him, and explains that he doesn’t need to live up to the legacy of Iron Man and that he only needs to do his best. He remains on task and pragmatic, but never rushes Peter or forces him to do anything he’s not comfortable doing, offering support all the while.
Peter is allowed to cry at several points throughout the film in front of other male characters, including Nick Fury and Happy. He is never judged for this and he is never made to feel like his emotions are unreasonable or invalid. Continuing this from the previous films even as Peter gets older and takes on more responsibilities further normalizes male emotion in action films.
Peter consistently voices his concerns and asks for help instead of overwhelming himself and internalizing.
Peter was noticeably shorter than MJ in most of their scenes together, including where they kiss or hold hands. Peter’s height is never made into the butt of a joke, which I had feared might happen. No one even mentions it. Marvel did have Tom wear shoes that made him a little taller than he actually is, but I do appreciate that they didn’t drastically increase his height like they always did to RDJ.
JK Simmons returning as J Jonah Jameson was a great surprise, and it gives me hope that we may yet see Peter as a photographer
Peter walking out from behind that car carrying a sign and a light as a reference to Steve wielding the shield and mjolnir.
Peter calling his dick his “webshooter”
MJ stepping in and providing some real help several times throughout the movie
The movies on the flight to Venice “Heart of Iron: The Tony Stark Story,” “Chasing Hydra” etc
The terribly edited movie maker tribute set to “I Will Always Love You” with “in memoriam” in comic sans was the funniest possible way to open the film
Bucky being included in the Thank You Avengers collage in the Midtown Tech news video
Mr. Harrington and Mr. Dell were definitely dating and i’m here for it.
Seeing Peter fight without a suit was cool. I’ve always thought there was a kind of disconnect when characters like spiderman or black panther fight with their masks on, like they feel separate from the actors. But seeing Peter fight in his civilian clothing made it feel more real to me that this kid really has these powers and can do all these amazing flips and feats of strength. It also let us see more of his creativity and quick thinking.
I’m impressed that they were able to make Mysterio’s mo-cap suit look cool instead of completely ridiculous like they do in real life.
Peter closing his eyes and fighting the drones with his spidey-sense to avoid the illusions was so badass.
The violence felt real. Every time Peter got hit, the audience felt it. Several times he was unable to stand up, he limped and winced and cried. It felt like the consequences of such heavy action were realistically considered when Peter couldn’t just pop back up and shake it off.
"If you were better, maybe Tony would still be alive” “You’re just a scared little kid in a sweatsuit”
“You got me?” “I got you.”
“lets get a drink” “i’m- i’m not 21.”
Peter going to a parent figure wearing an oversized shirt and crying while confessing his self-doubts was an oddly specific parallel that i didn’t expect to get again but i’m certainly not complaining
What I Didn’t:
The “rest stop hookup” scene was deeply inappropriate. Peter, a child, is commanded to undress in front of an adult female agent. He initially resists but is intimidated into compliance when she repeats the order. One of Peter’s classmates, Brad, walks into the room and Peter is literally caught with his pants around his ankles with an adult stranger. Brad makes the assumption that Peter is hooking up with her, and takes a photo for evidence with the intention of showing it to MJ in order to ruin Peter’s “chance” with her. Peter is blamed for a situation in which he is the victim, and the audience is meant to find this entire scene funny. Instead of what could have been a really cool scene in which this agent presents the new suit she’s made for Peter, we are given this very uncomfortable scene of sexual harassment played for laughs.
Peter and Brad competing for MJ’s affection and actively sabotaging each other is unnecessary.
The use of old footage from previous films was lazy, especially when Marvel could have easily recreated those scenes from the perspectives of the new antagonists. I’ve always found this distracting, especially when the quality noticeably drops between two clips, though this is more of a personal peeve than anything I see as a legitimate problem.
The list of characters who become villains because they feel personally or indirectly slighted by Tony and Howard is getting too big. Honestly I think it’s lazy to keep using that as backstory/motivation for new villains after over 10 years, especially now that Tony isn’t even alive.
The multiverse being made up by Beck was disappointing.
The monsters being the Elementals instead of Sandman or Hydroman was also disappointing.
I wish that the spidey-sense was represented by some creative audio or visual cue, like the goosebumps in iw or the ringing noise in spiderverse
There were several lgbt characters/actors on the class trip but they weren’t very visible. You really don’t notice them at all unless you were aware of who was cast beforehand and were watching closely for them. I’m not asking for Peter to swing through new york with a rainbow flag screaming “trans rights” but I would have liked to have seen a queer couple holding hands or a student with a trans patch on their backpack or something. I had been hoping for Peter to actually interact with one of them, to refer to them by name. Obviously having such a diverse cast with queer characters being played by actual queer actors is a huge step up from Joe Russo’s “grieving man” but like that shouldn’t be where the bar is at this point.
Tbh the headstone and zombie iron man were cliche, and i think it would have been much more impactful if Mysterio had made an allusion of Tony himself instead.
Why would Dr Strange not be available to fight massive elemental monsters from another dimension bent on consuming the earth like dude make yourself available??
I wish the new suit included Karen so that we could see how she and Peter’s interactions have changed now that he is expertly familiar with the functions of the suits. Additionally, the spider-drone would have been cool to see again.
The illusion to Uncle Ben with the “BFP” initials on Peter’s suitcase was great but I do wish we could get some actual information about him. We don’t need to see his death or the “with great power comes great responsibility” speech- we’ve already seen that enough times- but a little clarification on what officially happened to him in the mcu would be interesting.
Honestly I thought it was too convenient that May, Happy, and all of Peter’s closest friends also dusted. I had wanted to see how interactions between Peter and May or friends such as Ned would be tested emotionally due to the five-year gap.
The BARF tech being invented by Beck and stolen by Tony detracts from it being used in Civil War to establish Tony’s feelings about Howard and Maria’s murders. If it isn’t Tony’s invention, that takes the heart out of it.
I had really hoped that the glasses were going to end up revealing Tony as an AI, or at least some kind of message from him, and i thought was weird that Tony would give Peter access to a system that allows him to order drone strikes on his classmates.
Also...  so the drone strike on peter’s bus was faked by Mysterio’s team because they needed to get the EDITH glasses from Peter? Because the EDITH glasses give them access to the satellite that deploys the drones? But they already have the same drones? and use one them to fake the bus attack? so why do they need EDITH? Maybe i missed something but that makes no sense to me.

A Sasazuka Essay
Written by one of our most beloved translator: khikari AKA Kujouhikari!
She completed translating mostly all of Sasazuka route in our on-going translation project: Collar x Malice Unlimited!
Here is the link to the original post: Reddit
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1LUA27Rhfe3vyf1Ug_Qi5U1RZXvzwMZ1dT8hX8bEy_RM/edit?usp=sharing
Greetings.
To discuss Ichika in donut's route, we would have to discuss donut himself as well. It is something unavoidable. I have a generally favourable opinion of donut, to be point of being extremely biased towards him. As such, this is purely opinion with that fact established. This post will also be long because I have trouble finding 'concise' in my dictionary.
I played the game in Japanese so my experience might also differ from yours in that respect.
Also, there will be spoilers.
1.) Hoshino Ichika as a person
Basic background (Just so we are on the same page): Hoshino Ichika is a newbie police officer, quite fresh off her graduation. She is only 21 and still does not have that much experience in the workforce. She has impressive accuracy in her aim and handling of guns, however she is not a professional in it (compared to others). Her family is implied, and is confirmed, to neglect and dismiss her diligence and will in a variety of ways. She is often compared with her brother, whom she loves but is on unsteady relations with, after he moved to Tokyo.
Personality: She is an ordinary person with an ordinary sense of justice and morale, is empathetic, and not especially talented. Her most significant trait is her strong will and diligence, working hard for her ideals to come true. She faces things head on, for the better for worse, and tries to confront things that she is uncomfortable with as well. Not being a complacent person, she constantly strives for a better reality within her abilities. She understands what she can do, and what she can't do, very well. She also has extremely low self-esteem due to her upbringing, and was under a lot of stress during the X-Day incidents due to being a newbie, not going well with her family, then the collar happening.
I admire her for all this. She might not be the most powerful, or greatest, or most active, but she does what she can and tries to be true towards herself. She might fail and fall on the way, and even be a hypocrite sometimes, but she is only human. She isn't trying to save the world, she only wants her family safe, and those that she care for to be alright. I admire people who try despite knowing their limits, just as much as I admire those who are active and cause real change.
Also, I find it strange to pick at her hypocrisy sometimes. Her low-self esteem means that she is constantly unable to accept praise as what it is, yet her upbringing makes her yearn for understanding of some sort that she never received from her parents. I think critisizing her for that can be unfair.
I also personally find realistic egotism in characters to be something beautiful, influenced by the many literature I have read. I empathise with them better.
2.) Sasazuka Takeru as a person
Background Summary: Sasazuka Takeru is 24, an extremely talented hacker who moved from America to Japan due to his trauma with his mother. (In the beginning) he resigned from the police due to despairing at the police and the government's methods, in hope of trying to do something himself. He is used to the merit-based system in America, where ability influenced your input in the situation. However, Japan is the opposite, where the number of years you have spent in a corporation is prized over your ability (this can be still quite relevant in modern Japan). The ability to present your argument can be more important than the substance of it in this case, where these incidents have shook up the entire country. Thus, he is highly frustrated and running short on time with little resources to try to solve something important to him.
Personality: I personally empathise a lot with Sasazuka, as I have a similar sewage personality diluted slightly with coke. (I just wrap it up slightly better thanks to books.) He is highly pragmatic and has his priorities on a rigid hierarchy according to his personal investment, and thus can be seen as egostical. In other words, he ranks his individual needs and morales higher than what is important for the 'greater good'.
This means that he sees practical solutions to problems as more important than the decorums and traditional methods of society, and cares little about feelings he trample on. He evaluates every decision he makes with cold harsh logic, and spends no effort on things he deem 'meaningless'. (For example, society values family relations. However, if he evaluates the relationship to have no future, he'd cut it off, even if it is family. He places value on his own judgement and not general consensus.) And thus he is the most morally grey of the main cast.
He is a true neutral, which diverts from the tradition lawful good or lawful neutral protagonists society tends to value. I cannot comment on him much due to the similarities I find. He is neither good, nor bad. You can only measure that compared with your own moral compass, and whether he is against you or with you. (That's how war works, really. Nobody fights for what they don't believe in. Being the enemy doesn't make them wrong, but it doesn't make them right. It's the same for allies. Imperically, right and wrong can only be decided on how many casualties one's actions result in.)
As a person, he is extremely guarded of other people, and does not give his trust easily. There is no point spending time and effort on someon who is either going to betray you or is not worth it. However, this means that once someone has earned his respect, he will always prioritise them over other things. He has time to spare because he has cut off unimportant people, after all. He will go the extra mile to make sure they grow and can be happy independent from him while he accomplishes his own goals. This is true for both friendships and romantice relationships. This makes his relationships either very shallow or very deep, but nobody has qualified for the latter in love so far.
He is also very honest and tries not to be a hypocrite. What he says are usually logical and sound. He just doesn't wrap it up and consider the other party's feeling as much, because he wants improvement. Babying people will cause no progress. He shows his most natural self to the world because of this. Pleasantries might make co-operation more smooth, but they don't solve the actual problem.
His good parts and extra effort are reserved only for those who he deems as deserving.
(Also, this might also help you understand why he chooses to be morally grey and result based. In Australia, the the first British settlers came across the native Aborigines and judged their standard of living to be 'low'. Feeling the Aborigine children to be 'abused' in such a 'lowly' environment, they decided to kidnap the children so that they could have a better life. They brought them to these 'schools' where they are taught the skills to be a servant so that they can have a job in the future and lift themselves out of the 'poverty cycle'. They had good intentions in their opinion, but for the Aborigines, this is just them stealing their children away and throwing poop on their culture.
Doing what seems 'good' depending on societal morals can lead to these situations, and thus the best a person can do is to not betray themselves. I'm rambling sorry, but in this case, Sasazuka would value the result and say that the good intentions are not excusable. Would this make sense?)
3)Finally answering the question (I made you wait long enough.)
Sasazuka's treatment of Ichika: Just would like to address this first. Sasazuka is cold towards Ichika, calling her 'baka neko' idiot cat the first time they meet. The Japanese wording is less harsh than the English equivalent. (There is even a saying that someone more cute the more baka they are.)
Sasazuka is harsh and cold throughout the beginning because of how badly their personalities clashed. Sasazuka is a person who doesn't value meaningless effort, while Ichika tries despite having little experience or ability. For Sasazuka, Ichika should be focusing on something else and not bother him and lower his efficiency. Explaining to her would be wasting time because she is very unlikely to grasp hold of the situation quickly and contribute to it. She may be a victim, but Adonis is a large organisation adept at manipulating the emotion of masses, so she might be just acting. The enemy formally nearly suceeded in bringing the president down...They must have had many spies in government to make that possible, so they have the resource for this little act.
Conclusion: Time spent on her is wasted, and keep information from her as much as possible. Giving her extra information might even cause her to poke into dangerous situations due to lack of experience, thus encourage her to rely on someone more capable and caring like Yanagi-san. It is a lose-lose situation to work with her.
Meanwhile, for Ichika, she knew that she was dead weight, so she wanted to try and help in whatever way she can. She wanted these incidents to stop, and her hope of restoring the gun law is her main motivation in this route. Sasazuka handled the August(?) case which was the reason for this to happen, and thus he was her best shot. Enomoto's cases were to do with internal police conflict, Shiraishi was most likely a dead end, and she knew that she didn't have the ability to keep up with all cases like Yanagi. Therefore she sorted her priorities and decided to try to help Sasazuka.
Having a lot more EQ than Sasazuka, she realised early on that he was trying to do both of them a favour by not involving her. She also knows that he is extremely independant and would find her help to be intrusive, so she opted to help in the only way that would not bother him or slow him down: health support. She tries to do what she can, and hopefully would gain his trust so that she could have other ways of helping, like gathering information the slow way. For her, it's not that she likes Sasazuka over the other people or anything, it's just that she rationally did what she could for her goal to be accomplished.
Here, there is extra tension because Sasazuka is extremely frustrated and rushed because working in the police meant slow results slow action, but working alone meant less resources. People are dying by the day and he understands those deaths as a victim himself, so he wants to do something about it but it's slow. Ichika is under a lot of pressure for reasons stated earlier. Both of them are types to bottle things up and thus they kind of take it out on each other, but Ichika is more mature about the whole thing.
The love part: As to where they both start getting drawn to each other.... Sasazuka slowly opens up to Ichika who constantly tries without overly disturbing him, which makes her comfortable to be with. She respects his abilities and knows her own limits, which he can respect in turn. She might not be talented, but she is doing what she can while taking his preferences in consideration. Her care for her brother is something he admires, because he can't do the same for someone who doesn't return his affections. She...might remind him of his own mother who treated him as more important than her own life, despite him having such a troublesome personality. Thus, he wanted to help her with her brother while getting to know Sera in the process. Win-win. He knows that he is generally disliked, and thus he could test Kazuki's reactions. If he loved his sister, great. If he doesn't, then he'll tell that to Ichika upfront.
He begins to like her because he can respect her, she is gaining his trust, and most importantly, he feels comfortable around her. The last quality is something rare for him to find. (Isn't the ideal relationship being able to eat potato chips together on the couch, watching the same movie and laugh while pointing out its ridiculousness? In real life at least.)
Thus...he kissed her. Not to start a romantic relationship. It is him trying to repay her with his earnest feelings mixed in. Words wouldn't console her, then. (He also has less reservations about it because, you know, America.)
Ichika grows to like him because of his kindness and honesty she sees through his actions. His words can be aloof, but he has never truly abandoned her or led her astray while she was partners with him. He might even remind her a little of Kazuki, who is aloof and tsun as well. Since Sasazuka is opening up to her, some of her big sisterly feelings of taking care of Kazuki seeps through. She grows fond of Sasazuka, who shows more and more of his softer parts the more she gets to know him. (Please remember that she has high EQ and has a pretty good read on him. He's not that hard to read because he is quite straightforward and doesn't lie.)
He is earnest and trying his best, and thus she can respect him too. She admires him for being both diligent and being talented, but on the other hand he is terrible at wrapping his words and taking care of health. Thus, she can't leave him alone, because she admires him and grows to like him.
His support of her helps these feelings grow, and the kiss reminded her that romance yes indeed could exist. With that in mind, she also slowly realises her own feelings of protectiveness and affection towards him.
For both of them, it isn't a sweet romance purely based on love. (Though this can be said for all of the main cast except Enomoto.) For Sasazuka, it is comfort, trust and respect which led to affection. For Ichika, it is admiration, trust and caring nature that led to affection.
However, it doesn't progress to actual romantic feelings as quickly because of this foundation. Just one step short. They have mutual respect, but haven't closed enough distance to reach a deeper relationship.
Therefore, the turning point was when Ichika tried to protect Sasazuka, Sasazuka tried to protect Ichika and his trauma was dug up. This set off the last chain reaction needed for them to close the distance. Later, when Sasazuka confesses that he was morally grey, he trusts her but is also half testing her. He would never change, and he knows that, so he wants to know if she'd be disgusted or appalled. Because of how invested he was, however, he couldn't bear for her to react negatively and cut it off completely, so he made her drunk first. So that he and her both had a way out.
But...she didn't do any of that. She said that he was kind. She asked him to not go down the dark path. She...accepted him. For Sasazuka, this is more than enough reason for his feelings to tilt to romantic affection.
Then she proceeds to cry and he panics. He doesn't want someone who did all this for him to cry, and thus this memory became important for him. Important enough that he could push down the feelings of revenge, because he doesn't want her to cry. He doesn't want to make her, who helped him and accepted him despite his sewage attitude and questionable morals, to cry again.
It is for this reason that he couldn't confess to her that easily, too, which would lead to the tragic love end. He knows that he isn't the best choice and isn't good enough for her to be happy. She makes him comfortable and is special in doing this, and thus deserves the best happiness she can get. He also has the priority of destroying the remainder of Adonis, and thus...
In the good end, his feelings overrode his other wishes and his reason. Love > Respect & Reason, basically. He planned to confess to her on christmas, but she did first, and you know the rest. From then on, his affections are more open, but at his core, he is a person who isn't made of honey, so he is honest, showing his natural dry self.
For Ichika, Sasazuka confessing is a sign of trust, but also something that panics her. Her feelings progressed to love earlier than him, and she called him an idiot for being so stupid. He calls himself mean and morally grey, but she knows the kindness hidden within him. He downplays all his positive sides and says all this to her, expecting her to push him away. Are you an idiot? (I already love you!) So, don't go off to do things that will hurt yourself!
Because of this, the...Sera event affected her deeply. She knew he was on the edge. She doesn't want Sasazuka to stray off. Desperate to keep him in the side of the light, she remembered how he was troubled by her crying, and the fact that he trusted her enough to confess all that. She then threatens him with her tears because...it's the only thing that made him halt and unsure.
But ye I don't have anything more to say on her front, the rest is all in the game, go play the game you heathen!
Ichika in comparison with other routes:
To discuss this, we have to discuss what part of Ichika shines in other routes. Enomoto - Cuteness, initiative, bravery and willing to confront what he was unwilling to face. Shiraishi - She showed her will strongly. Her EQ was high and saw right through him XD. She chooses not to give up on what is precious to her no matter what. She pointed out his wrongs actively. She was so...kind. And cute. Okazaki - High EQ, figured out what Kei actually wanted. Won't take his poop reasons for using her as a reason. Refuses to give up and self sacrificing without being overly so. Cuteness. Yanagi - Willing to face reality and not run away, whether it is with Yanagi or the last boss. High EQ. Takes initiative and does what she needs to do. Shows her compassionate nature and helps Yanagi forward, together. Cuteness.
As we can see, cuteness is the common factor in all of them. She shows the same in donut's route. Nuff said.
High EQ - As shown in my rambles, she shows this very well.
Compassion - yep.
Strong will - Yep, was willing to do anything to improve the situation, even if it meant buying donuts or doing other things.
One thing I think is special to Sasazuka's route is her grasp on her own limits. She knows what she can and can't do, and that's important. It's admirable. She doesn't shove her nose into matters that aren't hers, and she listens well. She is willing to admit that she isn't capable and that's important in the real world.
As for why she might not seem as exceptional...well. It's because Sasazuka is almost never doing the wrong thing, and is always trying to improve himself. Enomoto refused to accept reality. Shiraishi was blind to what he really wanted. Okazaki wanted meaning to his life in a destructive way. Yanagi was stuck in the past and is overly compassionate, so much that he could not move to act.
Sasazuka is always acting to solve the case, is self-motivated, and is grounded in reality. He is mostly a self-completing person. Though his words are sharp, he always does what is needed. He is honest. He doesn't hide his intentions. His main flaw is his true neutral alignment which does not mesh well with his trauma. Thus, he doesn't need to be changed or forced to change like the others. So she could never assume a super active role in this relationship.
For Sasazuka, Ichika represents comfort and somewhere he could properly breathe around. She is someone he respects, and he wishes her to grow into the best version of herself. They might not be equal in ability, but their mutual understanding, respect and admiration makes them treat each other as equals.
And isn't that enough? I find that to be admirable. I think she shines just as much as in other routes, just in a more realistic way rather than an active way. Valuing a more active and interactive heroine is great and all, but I think the writing in the game captures more realistic and...explicit? Not so pure? Love relatively well.

▸     ❛   ━    𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐍 𝟎𝟎𝟑 DIFFERENCES BETWEEN COMIC & TV SHOW MAZIKEEN
Given that my portrayal is comic based, I figured it would be a good idea to make this post as there are some major and minor differences between Mazikeen in the Vertigo comics and Fox’ Netflix’ tv show...  and I assume that most of you might know Mazikeen from the tv show. The list bellow is not spoiler free and it’s probably going to be expanded on as I read more comics and discover new things about Mazikeen. SIDE NOTE: If a point is not specifically stated to be about the comics or the show, I will be talking about the comics, as it is the canon for this blog.
APPEARANCE:
I choose tv series’ Lesley-Ann Brandt as my face claim, as she conveys Mazikeen’s character perfectly, in my opinion.  In the comics, the demon is portrayed as young woman (late twenties, maybe early thirties), with stark black hair, dark eyes and a muscular body (she is a warrior, after all).
Mazikeen has a half-misshapen face (tw: gore: x), which appears to be horribly scarred and mutilated-looking.  The demon is often seen covering the scarred half of her face with a mask (simply white in the earlier comics (x), though a bit more decorative in the 2016 run (x)).  I cannot stress enough how  proud  Mazikeen is of this part of herself, whereas in the tv series, Mazikeen has only shown the scarred half of her face... twice? My own headcanon is that it is purposefully hidden at times in order to blend in; only glimpsed when she wants others to see it.
In the 2016 Lucifer comic series, Mazikeen received Lucifer’s Morningstar title and, with it, his Lightbringer powers. Appearance wise, this meant that she was able to grow herself a pair of wings (x).
PERSONALITY:
Her friends call her warrior, her enemies berserker. They know that she will fight until her body is rendered tallow and that she shows no mercy. She will spit as she burns. If captured, she mocks her enemy, showing defiance. She is headstrong, a true leader of the Lilim and she faces danger head on        often with a smile/grin that shows her confidence leading the Lilim through hardship.
Mazikeen is very controlled (in battle) and is ashamed and disappointed in herself when she lets go of control.
Whenever she needs it, she gives herself a peptalk. This often happens in battle when she needs the courage / hope.
She is incredibly pragmatic; in battle, she will use what she can. Not only weapon wise  ( though she favours knives and swords ! )  but also concerning her enemy, e.g. if the enemy is a thunder god and there is a storm coming, she uses it by reasoning that it will be clear where he is.
Mazikeen is realistic about the situation(s) at hand; she does not expect anything other than what she believes can be done.
The lili is loyal to a fault to those she has befriended and she keeps her word. Mazikeen is extremely devoted to those she is loyal to.
The lili is very clever, language wise, for example, ever since she was young, she has been picking up languages simply by listening        even though she is not actively taught them, she can understand and, often, make herself understood, in a foreign language if she knows it.
In the show, Mazikeen is often described as a sex and violence addicted being. As you might understand by now (after reading the points above), comic Mazikeen is only violent when it serves a purpose and has a goal. Moreover, in the comic she is not. at. all. sex obsessed. If anything relationship related happens, it is with those she has formed proper relationships with. Comic Mazikeen is loyal to such relationships; she would not, for example, cheat on her lover. Instead, she would be invested in them, whilst also giving them the right amount of space for them to express their own individuality.
In the comics, the supernatural beings are good with children, rather than being disgusted by them, as shown in the tv series.
PLOTLINES:
As mentioned as point 3 of ‘appearance’, in the 2016 Lucifer comic series, Lucifer gave Mazikeen his Morningstar title and, with it, his Lightbringer powers.  After acquiring these powers, she took over as ruler of Hell.  In response, her Lilim siblings nailed her hands to the throne to effectively hold her prisoner, as they were afraid of her power.
At the end of the 2016 Lucifer comic series, LUX has been left in shambles and Mazikeen talks about how Lucifer better fix it up soon, as it will not be long before he has competition.  She then clarifies that she plans on making her own club.  I have written a headcanon about this, which you can find here.
Comic Mazikeen happily works as head of LUX staff, whereas tv Mazikeen seems unamused by it and even appears to be homesick, which leads to her seeking out other ways to keep herself busy.  Eventually, she discovers that bounty hunting is a job on Earth.  I rather like this aspect, and have worked this into my verses.
The powers and abilities of comic and tv Mazikeen are quite different.  Comic Mazikeen has quite a lot of powers and abilities (these are all listed on my about page), while her powers on the show are a lot more limited...  dare I say  almost  non-existent.
Her relationship with Lucifer is vastly different in the comics, in comparison to the tv series.  In the comics, she was about to be executed in the Silver City when Lucifer saved her, which led to her owing him and that resulted in her becoming his servant.  Over time, she grew out of her ‘servant’ job and the war leader of the Lilim became the most decorated torturer of hell.  The demon was Lucifer’s consort and constant ally as he reigned in Hell, she was the only character in the comic series to genuinely love him        she is repeatedly seen as a fierce defender of Lucifer and his goals.  Centuries into their partnership, Lucifer decided he wanted to go to Los Angeles and Mazikeen followed him through the gates of Hell, where they open up a bar.  tldr; in the comics, Lucifer and Mazikeen are romantically involved, and Mazikeen is treated as his equal. Their relationship has evolved over time and is built on trust and loyalty. Those familiar with the tv series will recognise some plot points, but it barely scratches the surface.

Yesterday, a child came out to wonder...
5 things on a day off, September 10, 2019
i) it is astounding how quick I can turn into a “the-world-is-ending”-panda once I don’t see the sun for like, 24 hours. For real. I must remember this. Eg. Sunday was a beautiful fall day, +16 and sunny (I even ran a 10 km). And then on Monday I worked for 8.5 hours, waking up at 5:00 am (fuck yeah... gaaaaah) and then when I got home everything way all grey and it began to rain in the evening. And goodness, I was Low. So, I guess it’s good that I know that about myself. The What To Do About It seems to get me, though.
ii) I Do Not like the song Lover by Taylor Swift. It’s just blah. I think a lot of the slow ballads on her album are trying to sound like Time After Time and shit, like it’s supposed to play at a roller rink or during an awkward teen dance set in the 80′s. They don’t make the cut for me. Who needs Taylor when we have Cyndi.
THAT BEING SAID. I Forgot that You Existed, Paper Rings (come at me), and I Think He Knows are my favourite tracks.
iii) Whenever people ask me about how my life is going, I feel the need to justify how little MT I’m doing. Weirder still, I just think I Should Care about how little MT I’m doing, when in fact, I don’t. I’m still an MT, working as an MT, just not as much as me? society? my peers? my parents? my teachers? me? expected...
In reality, in like, Day-to-Day goings on, I am just fine being an MT for 4 hours/month, and primarily life-guarding. I don’t know if I’m just tired, like, I don’t want to fight to get contracts, or if I just Don’t Want to. There are lots of logistics surrounding contracting that take up a lot of my mental energy. Worked in therapy (for the 2.5 seconds I did therapy) to just Be OK with where I’m at. And I am. But where the fuck is the line between being OK with where I’m at and also trying to work towards something different for myself? I’d like to know. Re: independent contracting, I know I will need to be OK with being Uncomfortable and Learning and Growing because, hey, it is New to me. I need to let things be New to me.
iv) Getting better at guitar and piano, sewing things, busking, having pals to song write with, and writing fucking anything, feel like pipe dreams. Pipe dreams, or just things I’m not prioritizing right now. The hustle right now is working and staying in shape and cooking decently for myself and seeing my friends. It seems like I can’t do much more then that. Somehow, I put Creativity on the back burner...
v) The Circle Game by Joni Mitchell kinda captures my mood lately these days. I recognize that I Am Here, I Am Living. There’s no way I would’ve picked this life 10 years ago (not in a sad way, just a realistic one. I think I would’ve picked being a Married Band Teacher living in Sudbury over Single Life-guard /Newbie MT living in Winnipeg if you asked 18 year old Johanna). But little by little, it has become the life I chose. I think growing up (#privileged), there are a lot of doors open to you. In my early 20′s, there were So Many Doors that I couldn’t possibly choose and was consistently stressed or unhappy that this Might Not be the ‘right’ choice. With every decision, there was a hint of FOMO. I sit here being 28, and realizing that because of time passing, or because of choices I’ve made, I have less doors to open. There is a loss of possibility. And I don’t view that as sad. As I’ve lost possibility, I’ve gained some certainty. This certainty came about as I chose from so many possibilities, and has a certain pragmatism to it. Currently, it feels like Upcoming Choices will temporarily disrupt the stability I’ve come to know. (a.k.a. fuck I’ve got to Grow Again, or a.k.a. Fuck Yeah, I’m Still Growing). Honestly, right now, I like the stability I’ve built. But I am aware that in my future, there will be more growth. There will be more doors to open. I’ve just got to decide to open them.

Excerpt from Joni Mitchell’s The Circle Game
So the years spin by and now the boy is twenty
Though his dreams have lost some grandeur coming true
There’ll be new dreams, maybe better dreams and plenty
Before the last revolving year is through
And the seasons
They go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We’re captive on the carousel of time
We can’t return
We can only look behind from where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game

Are there any new ocs you want to share? Or one that you already have but want to discuss? Tell us about them!
okay so i’ve actually been really thinking about doing something with the hp universe and suddenly my dumb ass had three ocs on my hands. originally i had intended to write three different stories for each of them, but i’m growing increasingly fond of the idea of just creating one story and featuring all of them. each one of them is so different in terms of background and experiences that i think it’d be so cool to see a story from each of their points of view, like seeing the same events from different eyes. but yeah i’mma put them under the cut so i don’t take up space lmaoooo
tHANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE ASK!!
Tumblr media
Elia Potter - so I’ve been playing around with the idea of Elia for a long while and she’s definitely the one i’ve got mostly together. I still think there’s a lot of room for improvement on my part, but what i’ve got so far is that she’s James Potter’s much younger sister. the thing that’s holding me back mostly is that the Potters were already described as “older” when they had James and that’s probably why he was an only child, but also this is fanfiction so like, fuck it?? but yeah, there’s about a 13/14 year age gap between them so it’s pretty significant.
BUT ANYWAYS
i’m still working out details, but since her parents probably passed, she’s living with her brother, and for whatever reason, she’s not in Godric’s Hollow when Ol’ Voldy comes a knockin’. Blah blah blah, fast forward a lot (like i said, still working out details, whoops). I’m gonna be picking up her story at the beginning of Sorcerer’s Stone. It’s a really stressful time for her ‘cause she never got to see Harry after that night, Dumbledore relocated him and considering Elia was about seven years old, her nephew’s location was never revealed to her ‘cause what was a seven year old gonna do? Dumbledore obviously knew best, right? But now, Elia’s right out of Hogwarts, she’s got a job, and she’s hell bent on meeting her nephew who, she’s pretty sure, has no idea she exists. so she’s a tad bit nervous.
Tumblr media
Shailee Patil- Miss. Shailee over here is the older sister of the ever beloved and never discussed Patil twins. She’s two years their senior and in the Weasley twins’ year and a Hufflepuff. She’s very much a Type A personality, has had her future planned for herself since the age of eight, talks more to her cat than other human beings (at least, that’s the bit of feedback she gets from her sisters, she disagrees, realistically, she has to interact with other humans more than her cat. She can’t carry her cat everywhere around Hogwarts (she knows, she tried)). But it’s that kind of meek, awkward, and a-lil-bit-strange personality that draws the twins to her. She’s too nice to tell them to leave her alone, and the twins just find her hilarious even when she’s not trying to be.
i’m gonna be completely honest, i dunno a lot about her, but i know she’s gonna have a large secret that would be absolutely devastating if anyone found out  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Tumblr media
Sherine Shafiq- Sherine is, I think, going to be one of my faves. She’s in Harry’s year and comes from a Sacred Twenty Eight family that no one ever hears about in the actual series so I get to be real free with her and her family. Basic premise is that her family relies heavily on the need to not only survive, but also thrive in whatever social situation they’re placed in, which caused them to get involved in a lot of shady shit during the first wizarding world, and in the process, they’ve kind of lost themselves, putting more emphasis on success, power, and ambition than morals and family security. It’s a bit cliche, but I think I basically wanted to run parallels between her and Sirius? She gets to Hogwarts and is sorted into Slytherin and everything is great until she realizes that people are so fake and she can’t find anything genuine with them until she sits and speaks to a muggleborn (probably hermione tbh) and she’s like “holy shit ur nothing like my parents told me you would be” (also they’d bond over being poc, y’all can pry black hermione from my cold, dead fingers) and her story would primarily be following how her view of the world is transformed and turned upside down, but also she’s going to learn how to be independent and how to think for herself, and that journey is going to be so good.
she’s a bit of a wild card, she’s pragmatic as hell. it’s just something that’s been so embedded in her that she can’t shake it, but pragmatism isn’t inherently evil, something our golden trio will come to understand after a lil while of being exposed to her. tbh i picture her as being a bit of like, a Lydia Martin-esque figure? like she acts stuck up and holier-than-thou but she does so with a clear purpose, which definitely rubs people the wrong way ‘cause it feels like everything she does is either an act or has an ulterior motive.
major shit hits the fan when voldy returns tho, and i am so excited for that.

Cw: I guess there’s a question about genitals? And a death mention, or rather mention of someone wishing death on someone else. I think that’s it. Except for the “not exactly incest but close enough to be disturbing” one.
Generally, when someone you love is dealing with a controlling person, the most helpful thing is to be the opposite of that. Meaning, if your boyfriend complains about his family, before you jump in and give advice, ask him if he wants advice or just a listening ear. Instead of telling him what he should do about a situation with them, ask him what he wants to do. Controlling people convince their targets that they can’t do the simplest things on their own, and a good antidote is to honor the person’s strength and agency as much as possible.
I just wanna, y’know, be clear that I’m not pulling “affirming the agency of people you care about who you’re afraid might get stuck in toxic relationships” out of my ass. This is common advice from people who seem to know what they’re talking about.
(In this case it’s the romantic partner thinking the family is being controlling, but it works both ways, and with friendships, work environments, etc.)
More excerpts and my commentary under the cut.
6. “Should I wait for proposal before I move to be with him?”
Exactly how pissed/devastated would you be if you moved and then he broke up with you six months later? If the answer is “extremely”, this is a great time for “if you want me to move for you then you should put a ring on it.”
This is what marriage is for. It’s so when you’re deciding whether it’s worth making your life worse in the short term, you’ve got some level of assurance that it’s not going to be just about the short term. For moves, for financially supporting a partner in school and/or tolerating say med school stress and terminal unavailability, for putting your career on the back burner to stay home with the kid/kids. For deciding whether it’s time to get pregnant/keep the pregnancy/adopt. Sure, some people do enter parenthood deliberately single and sure, there should be more ways to legally and socially recognize chosen family, absolutely. Also…there are some things it’s a lot easier to get through if someone else is promising you that you don’t have to get through it alone.
7. “i start fuxking up text when triwd”
Who doesn’t, friend. Who doesn’t.
9. “How to make your boyfriend realize that you are irreplaceable.”
Oh, sweetie.
You don’t, though. If he’s not treating you as well as you need him to, you decide your boyfriend is replaceable. You can’t make someone realize anything. It just…sigh, not morally can’t, actually can’t.
I know attachment is a Big Deal and it’s easier said than done.
KC Davis’s Tiktok (@domesticblisters) and book. Her “There are only 5 things in any room” cleaning method was one of those anvil-to-head moments for me, a person who knows how to clean but who was repeatedly defeated by the cycle of where to start and what order to do them in.
Whoa.
Ok, I feel exhausted just looking at that (the video.) But, how pragmatic. How realistic. How non-judgemental. Yeah, sometimes spaces look like that, sometimes things don’t have a place where they belong. Wow.
In terms of interpersonal relationships and cleaning, I generally think that you should try as much as possible to share housing with people who have similar needs and approaches to cleaning as you, since there’s no magic way to turn a messy person into a neat person or make a neat person ignore mess.
Solid advice.
I also think that assumptions are bad, assumptions based on gender are worse, and spelling out who will clean what when in as boring and straightforward a way as possible is the best antidote to those assumptions (and best chance at household harmony).
12. “Polyamory that involve a sibling relationship dating the same person morally ok.”
Gaaaaaah oogie squick ouch whyyyyy
(More seriously: I don’t know that it’s morally wrong, and indeed there’s kind of a history in at least some cultures that practice/practiced polygyny (one dude, multiple wives) of preferring sisters since I guess they’re already used to living with each other or something? But in a 21st century polyamory/non-monogamy context, it’s risky in that if there’s an ugly break-up or other relationship drama, the siblings still have to face each other at family events. So from a practical perspective, it could go really badly and there have to be other people you can date instead. But hey, polyamory is all about breaking the rules/figuring out what works for you, and I’m sure that whoever is involved can figure out boundaries for themselves (omg I hope this is strictly hypothetical or for a story or something.))
(FWIW, I’m polyamorous and on the kink scene; the closest thing to this that I’ve ever encountered/heard about is family members who are both kinky coordinating with each other so they can make sure they don’t go to the same sexytimes parties. Abandoning the monogamy rule doesn’t generally come attached to abandoning “oh god no” reactions around incest once removed.)
(More generally: I do understand the appeal of pursuing love among people you already have a connection to, and the potential downsides of dating random strangers (and goodness knows some people have dating pools where not dating your ex’s ex is simply not a practical option); at the same time, romantic relationships are weird in that they tend to be kind of all or nothing in practice. And that doesn’t seem to just be a monogamous thing. Even when there isn’t jealousy from a current partner as a barrier to being friends with an ex, it’s really hard to be actual friends as opposed to just friendly, without slipping into acting like you’re back together. So…there’s a lot to be said for dating people who you can go back to being strangers with if things don’t work out.)
