A/N: Don't mind me. I'm feeling angsty and protective over my sexuality today.

"Eddie's been gone for a while," Vickie said nervously.

Robin, Vickie, Eddie, and Steve had decided to go to the new gay club that opened up in Indie. They've been having a wonderful time so far, mingling and getting to know people. Meanwhile, Eddie decided to search the crowd for other bisexuals. Much to Steve’s disappointment, Eddie had found a guy that he liked and disappeared into the crowd with him.

"He's probably hitting it off," Steve muttered.

"This is what happens when you put off telling people how you feel," Robin said. "I can't believe that I managed to do it before you did."

"Thanks, very helpful, Robin," Steve said.

Suddenly, another man approached the table.

"Uh, did you guys come here with a guy named Eddie?" He asked.

"Yeah," Steve said.

"I think he's about to start a fight," the man said and pointed to the direction that Eddie was in.

"Jesus, okay. Thank you," Steve said.

He got up and started walking in that direction. A few minutes later, Steve started walking back with Eddie flung over his shoulder.

"How in the everloving fuck do I not look bisexual? How the fuck are you supposed to look bisexual? I'm sorry, am I supposed to part my hair, dye one side blue and the other side pink? How does one dress gay? I mean, you're just wearing clothes, and you happen to be queer! And if it's because of what I'm wearing, this is typical metalhead fashion. I mean, if this was true, then every metalhead would be gay. And you're telling me that bisexuals aren't allowed to use the hanky code? Also, I did not know about the code until today. I'm sorry that I don't look bisexual enough for you! Let me just change myself to fit your opinion of me! And apparently, you look bisexual and I don't! How come you get to be bisexual? Why am I not allowed?" Eddie ranted furiously. "Also, that one guy who said, "straight people are always trying to find clever ways to divide us." Excuse me?! I am not straight and what a fucked up thing to say. You know, I thought coming here would be another place to feel included, but it's just more people telling me who they think that I'm supposed to be. Being bisexual is just as queer as any other sexuality in the community. There's nothing wrong with being gay, just like there's nothing wrong with being bisexual. I'm sorry that me liking women isn't queer enough for you but this is who I am and if you don't like it then that's your problem!"

At some point, Steve had set him down and listened to him as he ranted. Finally, he stopped and sighed, dropping his shoulders.

"I'm sorry, Eddie," Steve said softly.

"Anything that I do, it's always going to be wrong to everyone," Eddie said and sighed. "The worst part is how some people acted like it was something that needed to be fixed. Isn't that why this community was created? To make people see that people like us don't need to be fixed."

"I'm sorry," Steve said softly.

"That's fucked up. What the hell?" Robin asked.

Eddie sighed and started fingering the collar of Steve’s polo. He ran his fingers over the soft material of the shirt before moving them up to cup Steve’s face.

"People are always going to be telling me what I'm doing is wrong, but I'm not going to let them stop me from living the life that I want to," Eddie said.

He pulled Steve by his collar and smashed his lips to his. Steve moaned loudly in surprise before relaxing into the kiss and sighing against his lips. Vickie squealed and started hitting Robin.

"Babe, I'm right here, I can see them too," Robin said in amusement.

Eddie broke the kiss, breathing heavily. He grinned.

"Thanks for carrying me out of the fight. When I said I wanted to fight that guy, I wasn't serious, especially when he brought out his hulk of a boyfriend," Eddie said, and then he grinned. "When I need someone to fight for me, does that mean that I have a boyfriend now who's willing to fight my battles for me?"

"Boyfriend, yes. Champion, no," Steve said.

"Well, damn," Eddie said.

"It's okay, Vickie, I'm willing to be your champion, unlike some people," Robin said teasingly.

Vickie giggled and kissed Robin. Steve rolled his eyes and wrapped his arms around Eddie's waist, pulling him close.

"Maybe I won't be your fighter, but I will always be there to pull your cute little ass out of the fire and to make you feel better when people hurt you," Steve said softly.

"Are you saying you'll be my fireman?" Eddie asked.

"I guess," Steve laughed.

"You do make me feel better about myself," Eddie said as he leaned his forehead against his. "Let's get out of here. I want to kiss you all over."

"Disgusting," Robin said affectionately.

Maybe one day, people won't have a problem with his sexuality but for now, Eddie was content to live his life with his family, friends, and Steve, who accept him completely for who he is. He was a bisexual man who liked men and women. Just because other people can't see him that way, didn't mean it was any less true. It was his undeniable truth.

i know most steddie fics usually go the route of gay eddie who's always known and steve who undergoes a bisexual awakening but...hear me out... what if they're both gay and they're each other's awakening?

clueless eddie and steve who both think they're straight. yeah, eddie doesn't exactly have a ton of experience with the ladies because most of the girls in hawkins aren't lining up to get with him. he's fooled around with a few girls after gigs.

fumbling handjobs and sloppy makeout sessions that lead to subpar sex in the back of his van. and yeah, it didn't exactly rock his world but it felt good and if it didn't exactly feel right, he assumes it's because of the situation not the gender. it never crosses his mind that he is allowed to want more. eddie is content with hellfire and his band. he stays busy and doesn't let himself think too much about why he's so disinterested in girls.

steve has experience. he's both hooked up with girls and had a serious relationship. he likes sex and he likes girls. it never occurs to him that maybe something is missing. that his desire to be wanted by girls perhaps overpowers his genuine desire. sure, he notices guys. thinks some are attractive, but it just never occurs to him that it can mean anything.

he's a boy so he's supposed to want girls. sure, he loved nancy and he did enjoy being with her but it didn't exactly set him aflame. he wanted to be loved and desired. she gave him that for a while, until she screams the word bullshit and it reverberates in his brain.

he's upset because she's right. it is bullshit. so steve swears to change. he decides to be himself and stop trying so hard to be popular and wanted. it's lonely until a gaggle of children and robin buckley show him true friendship. but he still tries to date. flirts with lots of pretty girls and it leaves him emptier and confused than ever.

the upside down returns with a vengeance. steve and eddie are thrown together and eddie finds himself joking with steve. talking with him. seeing him in a new light. steve realizes that eddie is hilarious and nerdy. they settle into a friendship that is strengthened by matching scars and trauma. it's deeper, somehow different than other friendships the boys have had in the past. there's a tension that neither of them understand simmering just under the surface.

they all survive. eddie's name is cleared. life goes on. the boys decide to get a place together. eddie is working at the new record shop in town and steve stays at family video. neither are quite ready to leave hawkins despite everything. they rent a decent apartment together and throw a party, because fuck it. they deserve it.

more people show up than were invited. eddie finds himself on the couch next to steve and some girl they went to high school with. she's cute and she's flirting with both steve and eddie. really laying it on thick. eddie can't quite place the feeling that hits him as he watches her giggle at steve and put her hand on his chest. she's saying something and steve's eyes widen, looking over to eddie.

"eds, you up for it man? it's cool if you aren't." steve tells him, his cheeks flushed. eddie has no fucking idea what this girl has asked. he simply blinks at steve who seems to realize that eddie didn't hear. "she wants to hook up. with, um, the both us. like a threesome. you in?"

"what? both. me and you...?" eddie is floundering. why is this making him short circuit worse than usual?

"yeah, big boy. all three of us." steve smirks and eddie feels his heart racing.

so he asked and eddie's reaction was objectively hilarious but steve couldn't even make fun of him. he was too turned on by the idea of the whole thing.

he takes them both to his room. sets the mood with soft lighting. stares at his best friend. considers that he's a little too excited about eddie being a part of this night, but is in it now. wants it too bad. the threesome, of course. with the girl. he wants to fuck this girl with his best friend- that has to be why is blood is zinging and his mouth is watering.

eddie is nothing if not bold and he straight up asks how this is going to go. no finesse, no flirting. he's in over his head. the girl giggles and tells the boys she wants them to all three enjoy the night. together. the boys just stare as she tries to explain that she means more than just a boring threesome where the dudes don't interact.

the only thing eddie manages to think is that yes, he would love to kiss steve. it's like his world just suddenly made sense for the first time. he wants to kiss steve like he's never really wanted to kiss another person before. it's a desperate longing that is building and building. he's dying of thirst and the only thing that can quench this desire is for eddie to find out how steve tastes. he needs it.

the girl is looking between them, but neither of them see her. steve makes the first step forward and pulls eddie into him. slides one hand around eddie's jaw and the other around his waist. presses his lips against eddie's and kisses him softly.

it's a fucking revelation. it's permanently altering steve's brain chemistry. there is now, only, before the moment steve knew what it felt like to kiss eddie munson, and after. his lips are soft and he tastes like the shitty mixed drinks they'd been drinking all evening. it's intoxicating.

Steve's first thought when he discovered bisexuality wasn't "Oh, so there's a name for me, I'm not alone", it was "What a relief that I can still like girls" instead.

Don't get him wrong, he wasn't against being gay, it was just that girls were always an easier option for him.

He didn't need to pretend because he did like girls, like how soft and nice-smelling they were, like how they nestled in his arms and let him protect them.

"Yeah," Steve closed his eyes and dug the heel of his palm into his eyelid as he choked out. "I'm scared that I love you," his lips wobbled again, "So much, too much."

A tense silence blanketed them and Steve kept breathing shakily. He didn't dare to open his eyes not even when Eddie shifted and cradled his face softly.

"Me too," Eddie whispered. "I'm scared too."

That made Steve's eyes fly open in surprise, "Was that why you never said anything?"

"Yes and no," Eddie smiled sadly at him. "I'm always scared but never was I more scared of anything than losing you, sweetheart. I never said anything because I was afraid that I'd ruin our friendship with my stupid feelings."

"What should I do?" Steve leaned into the older man's touch and watched those dark eyes reflect his image. They were shining with many unsaid things and he wished he could keep them all to himself.

"I can't say anything for you, darlin'," Eddie caressed his cheek tenderly. "But we can be scared together if you accept me. Accept us."

Steve parted his lips to say it, but all the words just stuck in his throat and choked him with their thorns.

Eddie seemed to understand him nonetheless because the older man just gave him another sad smile before leaning closer until their lips met in a soft kiss.

"I love you," Steve murmured when they finally parted, his pointer finger tracing the line on Eddie's jaw.

"Love you too, my sweet boy," Eddie kissed his forehead and held him close again.

After that night, they had been inseparable. Despite their relationship staying secret, they had announced it to their close friends and Eddie's uncle.

Though the fear was still there and Steve might never be ready to accept himself, he felt better with Eddie by his side, always understanding and loving him unconditionally.

And Steve just knew he would be alright. They would be alright.

Corroded Coffin Headcanons!

Why yes, I am procrastinating. Why do you ask?

I've good all week and want to take a little break and descend into madness, so I'm allowed, okay?

As always, you can headcanon whatever the hell you want, just like I can, so please no hate. Good?

This mostly about the members of CC and not necessarily about the band as a whole.

I'm going to do Eddie last because we know the most about him.

The Unnamed Freak- And as far as I've heard around, this dude STILL doesn't have a name. I've seen all sorts of names for him: Frank, because it sounds like freak; Grant, because that's the actor's name; Archie, is another I've seen crop up a lot; and of course a smattering of others. In all of my fics, he's Brian. All the other members of the band had epic names: Gareth, a knight of King Arthur's Round Table, Edward, the name of several of England's kings, and even Geoffrey has a lot of famous people of that name. So he gets named Brian. Usually his last name is Martin.

He met Eddie because they were seated next to each other due to their last names in band. Eddie got him into metal music and the subculture.

Bassist for the band he began learning at an early age, early enough that he was and is the band's only bassist.

He is the oldest of four kids having three younger siblings. Two brothers and a sister. He tries to get out of babysitting as often as he can.

He's ace but not aro. When I age him up in stories, he's often in a romantic relationship, but never a sexual one. He's not sex repulsed but it's not for him.

He was held back in kindergarten and understands what Eddie is going through as far as being older than his peers.

He's a year younger than Eddie, and if he hadn't been held back would have graduated with Steve.

Jeff- Everyone thinks his given name is Geoffrey, but nope. It's Jeffrey. It's because his mom thought it would be easier for him. Nope! He has one older sister who is away at college. His last name is Lawrence mainly because I love that name and I think Jeff Lawrence just has a nice ring to it.

He is the grade he's suppose to be in, the same grade as well...literally every other older teen in the series except Steve and Eddie. In fact he's super smart, but doesn't have the patience to help Eddie with his school work. He gets frustrated too easily.

His mom hopes he gives up the idea of super stardom soon because she thinks he's smart enough to be a doctor.

In my fics where I age them up, he has a white girlfriend and understands Eddie's fear of going public with a guy, because in the 80s, black boy and white girl is just as bad as being gay. Still is in some places, sadly.

Jeff is Eddie's best friend, mainly because they both play guitar. Jeff is rhythm guitar, though because Eddie is far and away the better player.

Jeff is bisexual. Yes, he is with a girl most of the time and his relationship with his girlfriend is a lot like a couple friends of mine, where they are both bisexual, but dating an opposite member from their sex. Still experiences attraction to the same sex, though.

Gareth- this might shock some people but Emerson is a fanon not a canon last name for the character. And because I headcanon him as second generation American, his grandparents migrated over to America from Wales and his dad is first generation, their last name is Hughes. His dad knows Welsh, but Gareth and Gethin his twin brother don't.

The main reason I think this is because Gareth is a very Welsh first name. As is the name Gethin, in case you were wondering. It's why I picked Gethin as the name of his twin.

I think Gareth is a twin because there is a character in the first episode taking pictures at the basketball game that looks a lot like Gareth, almost uncannily so. You can even see Nancy talking to him for a moment.

Gareth is gay and Gethin is straight. Gethin is everything his parents would want from a kid, straight, smart, into photography, preppy. Everything Gareth isn't. He's gay, struggles in school, drums for a metal band, and is a metalhead.

That's not to say his parents aren't supportive, because they are. They let Corroded Coffin play in their garage, after all. But Gareth still feels like a disappointment anyway.

He's a junior in high school and absolutely wants to drop out when his bandmates graduate, but he's afraid his mom will kill him.

Eddie- Look, I know I've used Edward as his full name a lot, but sometimes Edmond is just the superior name. And I use them interchangeably, but yeah it's probably Edward considering he grew up poor.

Wayne is a Catholic (you see a calendar of the saints in the trailer) and Eddie grew up around Catholicism, but the more he realized he was gay and moved further into the metal subculture the less he liked the religion.

Yes he does know the patch on the side of his denim vest is the church of Satan. :D

Wayne bought him his first guitar after his mother died and taught him how to play as way of coping with the grief.

Eddie was one of those students that coasted in school until his senior year where suddenly the difficulty was ramped up to eleven.

He promised his mom that he would graduate from high school though, because she didn't. She got pregnant with him.

I think he was 11 or 12 when he went to go live with Wayne, just barely starting middle school. He's been around Wayne long enough that he knows he's loved by him, but old enough to have been influenced a little by his dad's life style.

In fact, it was his dad that got him into dealing drugs for Reefer Rick.

His dad keeps coming into town and dragging Eddie back down with him and leaving Wayne to pick up the pieces.

I've written him bisexual in the past, and probably will again, but there is just something about Eddie being gay that hits a sweet spot. An extra box to tick in the freak department (not that being gay is bad, it's just how Eddie would see it).

The Munson Doctrine is a serious things he's picked up over the years from his dad and uncle but also his experiences with life as whole.

Did NOT get bullied by Steve. Especially since for most of Steve's high school career Eddie was the grade above him. He just dealt at enough parties to "know" rich+good looking+popular with girls=douchebag. But he hasn't had any direct experience with Steve outside of the odd class they had together his second senior year.

Is the president of the Hellfire Club in practice, but on paper it's usually someone else. Someone more liked by the principal. And is billed as a gaming club on the school records so that it doesn't get banned. Everyone knows it's DND.

Corroded Coffin- Just a little headcanon here. Gareth is the second drummer but everyone else were original members that played at that Talent Show (Gareth would have been in fifth grade). They picked up Gareth after their original drummer moved away.

Murray should have kept his mouth shut. It wasn't his business, wasn't his area of expertise. But he was incurably curious.

The two teenagers had seemed absolutely inseparable; since he’d arrived in Hawkins this time he hadn’t seen one without the other. The girl sitting on the boy’s lap. The boy leaning on the girl’s shoulder to nap. Their constant silent conversations. The hand holding.

The frequent complaints from one of the toddlers that the two of them should just admit that they were perfect for each other and start dating.

Murray knew better, of course. He knew what unresolved feelings looked like, and this was about as far from unresolved as he’d ever seen. The two teens either had no interest in each other, or had been dating for months.

“Right,” Murray had said, finally, looking between them. “I have never seen such a complete absence of sexual tension in my life. Which one of you is gay?”

“I am,” both of them blurted out simultaneously, identical looks of panic on their faces. Then the fear shifted into anger as the two of them turned to each other and hissed, “You are not!”

The argument that followed was barely comprehensible. Sentence fragments spoken over one another.

“…the babysitter can’t…”

“…you’ve never dated a boy…”

“…your kids need…”

“…Nancy would never believe…”

“…if you aren’t allowed…”

“…with my reputation…”

It took Murray a minute to sort out what the two of them were saying.

“Oh, I get it. She knows that if you’re found out you won’t be trusted with the kids. And he thinks that his past sexual encounters mean people are more likely to believe you’re gay than that he is.” Murray pointed at each kid in turn. “Not the worst idea; most straight people find bisexuality beyond their comprehension. But if you really want to cover for each other, your best bet is to pretend you’re dating.”

It was almost cute, really.

“Robin doesn’t like lying,” the boy replied. “Letting people assume she likes boys is different from pretending to date one.”

“It’s not fair to Steve. What if he meets a girl he likes?” Robin spoke at almost the same time.

“Wait? Is that why? Steve asked. “You’re graduating in June. I can go two months without a date. I have gone two months without a date.”

“Yeah, when you were depressed and girls kept turning you down.”

“I was not depressed.”

“You were happier being tortured - literally tortured - then you were all of June working at Scoops.”

“Yeah? Food service sucks.”

“Well as fascinating as this is,” Murray started, but the two teens ignored him.

"You would choose getting beaten unconscious and left to drown in your own blood over scooping ice cream?”

“If I knew I’d survive it? Definitely.”

“Ooh, what if you weren’t sure? How low a chance of survival would you need before you’d prefer working at Scoops?”

“Would I have to wear the uniform?”

“Yes.”

“Including the hat? Because I choose certain death over the hat.”

“Your hair is really not that special, Steve.”

“If you liked guys you’d get it.” Steve seemed to remember Murray’s existence. “You’re not going to tell anyone, right? About us?”

“Of course not.” He’d be insulted, but in a town like Hawkins it was a life or death matter. Possibly literally. “Though, if you want my advice, you two should get married. It’s still only lying by implication, and it comes with legal protections. I’m a notary in the state of Indiana, so I can handle it for you.”

Murray took the momentary shocked silence as his opportunity to escape. They knew where to find him once they had the paperwork.

2. How do they treat themselves when they're feeling sad?

Sam's go to is to put on Elton John (most likely Honky Chateau—I can probably write a small piece on how Rocket Man can be seen as a metaphor for gay alienation) and then probably get a big tub of ice cream going. She’s not a stranger to depressive spirals, but sad and depressed are not quite the same thing—she deals with sad a lot better than depressed I would say.

With Danny… I think he tends to bypass sad and go straight to irritated. I’m a big believer in old man Johnson toxic masculinity indoctrination, so Danny probably lowkey thinks crying is for weaklings (and women). I think he might result to trying to calm himself with a couple drinks if for some reason he can’t immediately fix the problem that is causing him to be sad/irritated… however, said combo is more likely to lower his inhibition… and that’s when you’re probably more likely to get an impromptu murder (in comparison to his more planned stories).

3. What parts of themselves do they tend to hide?

Sam tends to hide her sexuality. Or at least attempt to. She lives in a small town, and the gossip mill would surely have a field day with the local English lady reporter turning out to be a “lesbian” (because bisexuals don’t exist in 1994 /sarcasm). The result is where she’s inoffensive enough to not cause outright homophobic drama, but she’s not exactly living the best life she could be either… especially when she’s partly trying to play nice for a family that aren’t nearly as accepting as they could be.

Danny hides himself. To be clearer, I’ve been considering whether his usage of personas happen to allow him to connect with an element of himself that has long been suppressed by his old man’s teachings. This is kind of a half-baked thought that I need to think about more. It’s a bit like being a method actor, an inherent element of performance. Think about how many seemingly outgoing and over confident performers are actually rather introverted (and not just because of paparazzi hounds)… also consider how people tend to act more freely when anonymous, for good or ill. Danny hides a lot of himself, he hides his literal self as Danny, but also other elements. His sexuality just like Sam, since being a bisexual man in the 90s is just… asking for trouble. However, he’s so strongly manifested in his expected gender roles as a masculine military brat that you wouldn’t even guess he might be queer unless you went for some crazy extreme like the fact he tends to dress well on average. I don’t think his personas suddenly act flaming (just to be clear) but he’s a little bit nicer, way more talkative, a little bit goofier/nerdier and I don’t think it’s entirely an act (although he believes it is and will tell you so).

9. What are their insecurities?

Sam is insecure about many things at the start of the story. This isn’t really a plot spoiler. She’s insecure about the fact both her brothers are married with kids, she’s insecure about the fact she’s queer, she’s insecure about her relationship with her girlfriend. She’s insecure about her future in the province she was born in—quick history lesson, in 1994 Quebec proposed a provincial referendum to decide whether the citizens of Quebec largely supported the idea of Quebec becoming its own sovereign country to be voted on in 1995. There was a major divide along language lines with English speaking Quebecers largely supporting the federalist Canadian position (No) while the French-speaking Québécois generally supported the sovreignist Yes side. There was a large exodus of English speaking Quebecers from the province around this time, settling in Ontario and Alberta primarily. You had small towns with flourishing English populations suddenly lose multiple families which had lived there for generations only for the towns to become much more French. This is the situation Sam finds herself facing, working as a local English newspaper which is now struggling as a result of less readership… so honestly she’s even kinda insecure about the future of her job too, period, lol.

I think Danny’s insecurities would require a whole post of their own, however, I’ve briefly touched on one of them in question 15.

10. What are their emotional triggers?

For Sam: curiosity, fear, frustration.

For Danny: boredom, frustration, praise.

I’m not entirely sure what this question is asking so I’ve kinda listed the emotions that I think are most likely to motivate them to do something for good or worse.

14. What kind of people do they tend to gravitate towards?

Sam tends to gravitate towards people with big personalities. She’s a much more subdued person and kinda lives vicariously through them. She’s intrigued by the promise of life outside small town Quebec, so it’s very easy to get her attention with stories of travel. She has a major obsession with this random cold case that happened when she was a teenager, to the point that everyone thinks she’s a little bit weird for it, and in this way she’s also drawn to people that will put up with this particular quirk. I think you can already see where I’m going with this.

Danny, like a true confidence trickster, is drawn to people most likely to believe his bullshit. This doesn’t mean he looks for idiots, he’s still a bit of a wannabe academic blowhard in spirit and as such I think he’s still drawn to people who profess at least a bit of a braincell…. But it’s the trust element. He’s looking for people who want to believe what he says. He’s also looking for people who think he’s cool. Even if he’s Jed or persona #632.

So when taking these tendencies together, you can already kind of start to see how Danny and Sam compliment each other in terms of the people they are seeking. They’re both looking for somebody who’s going to gas them up—feed their egos and hope for the future.

15. What do they like/dislike about themselves?

Sam likes her skills as a journalist, she feels like her stubbornness is a useful trait. She wishes she was better at being more traditionally feminine. She dislikes her height, at 5’10” she towers over a lot of guys and it’s worse if she wears heels.

I feel like we all have a rough idea of what Danny “likes” about himself, so I’ll focus on what he dislikes. His emotionality. He knows he can be impulsive, and he thinks feelings like fear, anger, and sadness are not particularly useful for himself when he’s supposed to be this killer who goes around murdering in the night. If he could be a mindless killer, I’m sure he would do so.

Bonus: What character in Scream would Sam be?

Hmmm, that’s a very good question. I think I would need to do a complete series rewatch to really pin it down but I think she would kinda be a weird proxy if you were to mix Gail and Dewey together (she’s their forbidden baby). She has a lot of Gail’s tenacious journalism qualities but she’s a lot nicer, similar to Dewey. Her brother Chris is also a cop, so she’s a little bit functional to Tatum in a way.

He never writes a female protagonist unless said woman is not allowed to have agency, power, or influence over men.

He does not make a woman a major character unless she is straight and the love interest of a straight white male savior.

He will only write an lgbt character such as coco adel, as evil or hated.

He forbids bumbleby at any cost, and will write yang as throwing herself into jaune or adam taurus' arms while hating blake and defending men from her.

Couer has apparently stated he despises blake's bisexuality and hates the idea of people of different genders being attracted to her, so he either writes her as jaune's pillow partner, or makes her antagonistic to men.

Finally, couer writes jaune or adam as the straight white male savior who has yang or another women sleep with them, while said men are abused by women.

He basically gets his writing from rise of the shield hero. I'm honestly surprised couer didn't decide on including pedophelia in his fanfics.

but at the end of the day? A woman, no matter how complex or fascinating? will be tossed aside by critics in favor of a straight white male savior, no matter how bland he is.

You can say, but this is just fiction. How about a real life example?

Yet despite him being a horrible human being? Because hillary was a woman, people decided that her flaws made her just as bad as donald trump.

Thousands of people refused to vote for her. Despite multiple democrats pleading with people to recognize the threat?

People decided that because hillary was a flawed woman? they would either not vote, or toss their vote for the green party, an anti-semitic political group that sabotaged democrats in the past.

more than 5 years later, after the GOP continue to spread harm and poison? People still stand by their refusal to vote for hillary.

If Hillary was a man, people would have voted for "him" in a heartbeat, flaws be damned.

Feminism is about things like stopping gender gaps in paychecks. Its about allowing women to have a voice. Its about allowing women to have independence without being tied to a man. Its about women having their choices without a man influencing them or telling them how they should live their life. Its about shutting down the god damn mansplaining that so many fanfics, anime, manga, etc seem to embrace with the same passion that misogynists defend Naruto. Its about letting women have access to the same rights and privileges as a male.

RWBY is about that. Women are written as equal to men. Women are written as being able to make their own choices without having a man decide for them. Mansplaining is removed. LGBT rights are embraced and encouraged. And women, not men, are the protagonists.

Is it any wonder that people influenced by male fragility, toxic masculinity, and the patriarchy have such a hatred for shows like RWBY and Legend of Korra?

And THIS is why I stand by my beliefs that RWBY Criticism is rooted in homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, and misogyny. Also because the critics tend to be assholes on more than one occasion, but apparently people love men being assholes but hate the idea of women having a mood.

Honestly, It makes me root for Salem and Cinder Fall...at least they have a legitimate excuse for blowing shit up and setting everything on fire.

I saw a tiktok... probably about 10 months ago now talking about how Canon Steve has Straight Leading Man Syndrome™ (aka he's the manly cool guy who is written to be So Cool and So Masculine in a way that loops back around into him having some Baggage around being the platonic ideal of a Straight Man™ that reads as very queer) and how this means the writers would never allow Steve to be bi despite how well it fits his character. SOMEHOW thinking about that tiktok turned into a 5+1 about 5 times Eddie made Steve feel jealous, and 1 time Steve does something about it.

The 5+1 roughly pans out as follows:

Steve being jealous of how Eddie is so unapologetically himself (set during their high school days, when Eddie is being Like That and Steve is still suffering under the weight of the King Steve mask)

Jealousy over Dustin having a Cool New Brother Figure Friend (complete with some internal musings about how Eddie is - at least from Steve's perspective before knowing him - who Steve wants to be; self-assured, doesn't care what people think, liked by the people Steve wants to like him)

Jealous of how Eddie is well aware of his sexuality and comfortable acting on his attraction to men (post-Vecna; they're Friends now and Eddie comes out to Steve, Steve is Not Accepting of his own bisexuality yet but definitely knows there's Something going on there, especially with how he feels when he hangs out with Eddie)

Traditional jealousy; Eddie comes back from a weekend trip to Indy with hickies and Steve is SO NORMAL ABOUT IT. This is when he realizes oh shit, he's definitely bi, and definitely into Eddie.

Jealousy about how Eddie knows things about the queer community (like where to find gay bars in Indy, and the basics of the hanky code); this is set after Steve comes out to Eddie as bi (but does not confess his feelings due to a fear of rejection) and Eddie is like "hmm okay would you like to come to a gay bar with me then?" and Steve agrees.

THE BIG ONE: At the gay bar, Eddie hits it off with a guy and Steve gets So Worked Up watching them make out that he pulls Eddie away from the guy and makes it Super Obvious how he feels, and Eddie goes "thank fuck I was doing this on purpose to make you jealous so you'd make a move". They bone about it and live happily ever after <3

Essentially it's a nice mix of jealousy in the traditional, I'm-in-love-with-you-and-mad-you're-kissing-other-people sense and jealousy as a vehicle for musings on who Steve is and who he wants to become, especially post-character development. I like this concept So Much even if I'm unsure when I'll ever actually get around to writing it lmao.

Alright, more sexuality/gender headcanons!

Wilford Warfstache (Pansexual): Real reason: Because I said so. "Logical" reason: He has had affairs with multiple women, including Celine. In WMLW, he casually asks Abe if they had dated at some point. So he's down to be with anyone. Also his stage lighting in AHWM was the pan colors, and he was wearing rainbow suspenders. Those colors give off an immediate pan vibe for him.

I'm also a hardcore Darkstache shipper. In MarkiplierTV, Wilford doesn't listen to anyone's opinion except Dark's. He only cares what Dark has to say.

Random Headcanon time: Wilford's favorite way to express love is touch. Stroking their partner's hair, kissing them on the head, cheek, lips, etc., picking them up and carrying them, cuddling, etc.

Darkiplier (Nonbinary Bisexual): Real reason: Because I said so. "Logical" reason: They're the fusion of a man and a woman (Damien and Celine). The gender-binary means nothing to them. A lot of people headcanon Damien as gay and Celine as straight or bi, but I propose: both of them are bi. Therefore, Dark is also bi.

Once again, hardcore Darkstache shipper. In MarkiplierTV, Dark says that they respect Wilford, and always have. They also call him "Wil," a nickname. I headcanon that Dark only gives nicknames to those they deeply care for.

Random Headcanon time: This goes into a headcanon for both Damien and Celine as well. I think that their time fused as Dark allows them to realize that they themselves aren't cis. Idk if that means they're also nonbinary, or if Damien is a demiboy and Celine is a demigirl, or if they fall somewhere else on the spectrum. That I have to think more about, but in general, they both realize they aren't cis due to their time as Dark.

Actor Mark (Straight (or is he lol)): Reason: because I said so. "Logical" reason: So assuming Heist!Mark and Date!Mark are both characters he plays and not their own egos, those characeters are the same ad Engineer Mark: pansexual. But Actor himself I see as straight (or at least that's how he identifies). He has only shown attraction towards Celine, a woman (pre-Dark). He also apparently has kids according to the meta ending of ADWM, but I don't if they are Celine's or someone else's.

This gets me wondering though: Does Actor feel some sort of attraction to Dark? If so, is it solely because Celine is a part of Dark, and he only likes Celine, or does it end up being more than that? This is why I put "or is he lol." I don't ship Actor and Dark btw; this is just something I've wondered.

Random Headcanon time: The only Y/Ns he has had a small legitimate attraction to are the ones who present themselves as fem.

This might be a divisive (if that's a word) question, but I gotta know. Do you hc that the Lost Boys, like David, Marko, Paul, and Dwanye actually like womyn? Like sure they flirt with their meals to get them to let their guard down, but like outside of that.

I'm just think about how buckwild everyone went over Michael, and like their interactions with Star was more or less her being brushed off and treated like an accessory at best or a nuisance at worse. It's so stupid omfg but I feel like bad for wanting to sexualize them because of it? If that makes sense? Anyways I just wanted to see another dead head's musings over these cruelly gorgeous vampire. Like I guess this is an ask over how probably you'd see them as wanting to at the very least smash and dash, or even like fall in love with a womyn? Sorry for the word vomit and please don't answer if any of these questions squik u out!

This is actually a very nuanced and interesting set of questions! I have many opinions, as usual. Let's get into it shall we???

Lost Boys Opinions/Hot Takes

Lost Boys: Attraction to Women

Okay, to blanket-statement start off, yes. I personally believe that all the boys are, on some level, attracted to women, because honestly I have yet to encounter a vampire in any media that didn't have bisexual energy.

But I think it really varies for each of them. Like, David? Almost completely uninterested in women. Like a men-women 80-20 percentage. He prefers men. Marko would be on the other side of the spectrum: I'd put him at a men-women 30-70 percent. Kind of a sex gremblin. Paul's smack in the middle at 50-50. Dwayne is a mystery wrapped in an enigma and who knows what goes on in that gorgeous head.

They're just not very... romantic creatures. Romance is probably the furthest thing from their minds actually. I imagine the Lost Boys live in their own little reality, disconnected from the world and from humanity, and that reality is all about eating and drinking and fucking and fighting. No slowing down, no nights off. No time.

ESPECIALLY for falling in love.

The Boys & Star:

I absolutely think the way they treat Star/how her character is handled is a direct result of the director's world lense. The dude was gay. Do I blame him for making none of the boys interested in her, because of that? Absolutely the fuck NOT. However, she was completely sidelined and essentially used as straight prop/beard and she deserved better.

I think if the movie was made in 2022, we would have seen a Hannibal/Will romantic dynamic with Michael and David, with Star and Laddie playing roles as story-movers only, no romance attached. Star and Michael may have even had a better platonic friendship, allied by the fact that they both wanted to be human.

She also low-key seemed miserable and didn't like any of the boys, either, and I think she'd come alive and have way more personality around fellow women.

David & Michael:

Again, unfortunately, 80s movie. This was a very gay-coded relationship. You can tell the directors/story writers wanted them to angry kiss.

But. BUT. I don't think Michael is David's first 'fascinating boy'. I think the boys collect things: trinkets and sexual endeavors and posters and stuff. David collects (or tries to collect) people, especially people he finds sexually attractive. But by nature of his vampirism (he's fucking insane and murderous) basically nobody survives his 'tests'.

If it wasn't for the Emerson heritage of vampire hunting, I think Michael would have died, a year or two would pass, and David would find another pretty, fascinating, young boy toy.

Are the Lost Boys Sexy???

BITCH YEAH THEY ARE!!!! They are beautiful beautiful twenty-somethings with glorious hair, skintight pants, and the ability to fly. That's hot!!!! Own it!!!! It's fine!!!!

My rule of thumb is, 'would a horny man feel bad about this'? No. So I'm not going to feel bad about it either. Women are allowed to find things sexy.

For your last bit of question, I think the boys bed all sorts of folks of all genders. It usually ends in murder, however, so. There's that. But Paul has totally been to a hippie orgy, and David has absolutely been to a gay leather club. I am so so so certain.

This is sad, but I think if any of the boys fell in actual love, it would be quickly taken away from them. Because the boys survive through being insanely codependent on one another, and them drifting away to 'love' someone might be seen as a threat to be eliminated.

Like if Paul suddenly got deeply infatuated with a beautiful woman and started sending her love letters, or going on walks with her at night, if David heard about it, within the month something terrible and accidental would befall her. Because to him, Paul is his. Part of his family. And David likes to collect.

Maybe it’s just me but I’ve never really had hope for buddie to be confirmed in the first place. Like I do ship them and if they did I would be happily surprised but really it’s just never something I’ve entertained as a possibility and I don’t know where the people who believe it will happen have been but we just don’t get ships like this imo.Maybe there’s a few exceptions even if I can’t think about this right now but when a character’s introduced as straight or nothing has been said so we assume straight and then fandom ships them with an equally assumed straight person the show and networks and all that don’t want them together because they’re ‘normal straight people’. Like in LS from the beginning TK’s introduced with a bf he wants to propose to, they don’t lose their normal character since that was him from the start. Also if it’s acknowledged that all the buddie moments were building up to a romantic relationship then it sheds light on other similar relationships in other shows or films that we were ridiculed for shipping when really it’s not so different. I really don’t know if I got my point across here and I’m sorry this got so long winded, maybe I’m just a cynic but I think my buddie dreams will have to be contented with fanart and fic.

It's definitely not just you who has felt that way, lol. We hear it all the time, just more aggressively. To expand on what you said, the biggest piece of "evidence" in favor of this argument is that it's been six seasons and neither one's sexuality has been altered or allowed to evolve in the slightest. And it's not the opportunity wasn't there, right? Maddie and her "boy crush on Eddie" remark or saying she wouldn't want Josh to date her little brother. Then TK (falsely) assuming Buck was being flirtatious. Tim (he was the main show runner those years) could have said any of that meant something moving forward (maybe a "Buck is canonically bi, but we haven't explored that part of his story...we're waiting 'til it feels appropriate"), but the only part he addressed was the TK thing, and he connected to Tarlos since Carlos wasn't physically present. Compare that to Nancy becoming the first bi character of the 911verse. She came out while in a relationship with Mateo. She is still in that same relationship now. The show isn't trying to "prove" she's bisexual by having her hook up with or date a woman. It's just a part of who she is. And then there's the fact that all four (technically five, with David) queer men of the 911 verse (Michael, Josh, TK, Carlos) are written as gay, not bi. Tim & co. appear to have some *opinions* (thus far) about bi men, it seems. If they date a woman? Straight. Date a man? Not into women (never were). I will continue to say, though, that people are giving the network too much grief. The canon couples very rarely do anything intimate as the seasons progress, with Henren as the outlier because 6x06 was a flashback, so *if* anyone with influence was concerned about the optics, Tim has an "excuse" not to push things too far - that's not what the focus is anymore. And even *if* someone at the network was all "idk about this :/" that's still on Tim for dodging the discussion six years in. Get out ahead of it and the message would have been received much sooner - if you're against even one of these guys getting with a dude...this ain't the show you should be watching. Move along. (Tim has no problem putting LS fandom down, so I don't see why he'd act different with OG. TBH, it's either his own biases about Buck and Eddie as men that is keeping him from making them canon or it's similar to his reaction when the Tarlos fandom "complains" - he knows what's gonna happen if Buddie goes canon; they will dominate the discussion - he doesn't want the fandom giving their opinions or asking for content more than they do already.)
