i am on a jay bender and have been obsessed more and more as the days go by. what do u think would he be like as a bf? 🥹
jay has been bias wrecking me like crazy and this will not be good for my health but lets go: again there is smut so mdni!!
jake vers. | sunghoon vers. | heeseung vers.
first and foremost, he is putting his soul effort into you from the moment of your first date. when he is looking for a girlfriend, its a long term deal, not a fling or a quick summer romance. jay dates to marry. it can come across a bit 'whoa' but listen, he wouldn't be overbearing about it! he just wants to know that when he finds a partner that the effort he puts in will be worth jt.
dates when you're in the talking stages/getting to know will be very thought out, each detail will be meticulously planned based on your interests. he would love taking you to museums, dinner, camping, i think any date in which he could sit down and speak to you would be ideal for him. jay values connection over everything else so getting to know you during these dates and momentsnare crucial.
once you are in a relationship he is all you could ever ask for!! he is supportive, loving, affectionate, headstrong, and everything in between. i can see him really working hard to maintain a positive and steady paced relationship. he won't rush into things, knowing that the relationship has infinite time to blossom and develop - it's like a good meal, you don't scoff it down but savour it.
although steady, he is affectionate and always with you any chance he gets. jay is sooo romantic, more romantic than any of the others. his heart is so big that he has infinite love to give you, he will work you around his schedule, no matter how tired, he will always make time out of his busy day to see you. if he is on tour or really can't see you for whatever reason, he is facetiming you or calling you.
more under cut
when he comes to visit you, this might be controversial bc a lot of people don't see him as a yapper but i think he tells you everything about his day, particularly how he felt about everything (tired, excited, whatever). i think he would feel so comfortable with you and trust you so much that he confides in you about everything. i do think he would hold some things back, just as a way not to worry you - like his knee, i think he would play it off as no big deal even if it hurt really bad that day; worrying you isn't on his list.
jay is so used to looking after others and independent that he is either going to go two ways: babying you or asking to be babied. if its the first one, i think it comes second nature to him, he would look after you and make a fuss, doing acts of service like tying your laces when they come undone, making sure you don't go overboard when drinking (i need him for that), and generally care about your well being. OR he is going to come to you to be looked after. he would want a partner sensitive to his feelings, someone who can have open conversations about them and validate him. something about him tells me that he likes to be pampered by his partner; sharing baths where you cuddle and wash him, massages, make him dinner when he has had a long schedule, i do think he would love a face mask night in w you. its all about give and take with him, but he definitely loves to give a lot more.
as i've mentioned, he is headstrong and has core values. if you don't allign, he will literally try and persuade you to see his side of things. he loves to argue and debate, not in a mean or offputting way but rather in a 'i have this opinion, tell me yours and we'll discuss it' kind of way. loves to learn and expand his mind regarding knowledge so if you are knowledgeable about the world or certain things, he would love to listen and learn, possibly going as far as researching the topic on his own time. again though, you aren't changing his mind on his values but he will understand your point if you share them in an articulate manner. if you respect his opinin, he will respect yours!
it is obvious but he is cooking for you!!! he will prepare your favourite meals and also let you venture something knew. he doesn't always like to do it on his own though and will set up fun little 'cooking classes' to teach you. he can be a bit bossy but it looks hot on him so you never mind it. you will buy him silly kitchen gags like 'kiss the chef' apron etc. which he hates but he wears because it makes you laugh.
will also play guitar on quiet nights in, just as backing music, not to impress you or gain attention. he would just strum the guitar while you read or whatever you like to do. it will be the backingtrack to your conversation and i think he would cherish the calm and easiness in the air.
you must get along with his family. no question about it, he is so close to them that if they didn't like you, it would really impact your relationship. i think he would try and persuade his parents and try his absolute hardest to help you all get along; he might plan meals or day trips with you all to bond you. same goes for your family, whatever parental/guardian/sibling you have, he wants to impress them and get along with them. he is a family man through and through.
speaking of which, would talk marriage and kids with you quite early on, just to establish if this is something you are wanting. i think for sure marriage has to be on the table but kids are a tricky one, i feel like he understands that it is you who would be carrying the child/or/adoption would always be a choice. it can't just be his decision, he loves you so much that he would settle for being an uncle rather than a dad if you truly didn't want children (please be real core <3)
kisses: i think he loves to kiss you but not randomly, like he won't grab your wrist and spin you around to lay a smooch, he is the type to nuzzle your nose and tell you how beautiful you look. his kisses are soft and gentle, his tongue tender against yours as he devours you completely. hands ALL OVER your body when he kisses, loves to feel you on his finger tips. secretly, along with quality time and gift giving, i think physical touch is a love language for him.
bowchikawowow: rough and sensual. jay is going to do everything you like because as your relationship grows, he is going to make sure that he knows every little pleasure point on your body. LOVES to hear you moan and encourages it. 'let me hear you, baby' and 'do you like that?' are constant sentences in the bedroom. doesn't do quickies, likes to go for as long as possible. he is terrible for edging you, pushing you to the edge of tears while he withdraws his touch, his smirk would be plastered on his face. he would tell you how good you are for him, 'just a little more, my baby can handle that, right?' and ofc you would say yes!! kisses all over your body, lips all over your chest and tummy, loves to just feel you (again, physical touch).
aftercare is so important to him but i think because he already likes to look after you, it would be so normal. makes you tea, kisses and cuddles, words of affection and admiration; whatever you need, he will do it!
again, these are my opinion and if you disagree you are more than welcome to let me know what you think!! i love hearing opinons 🙏🏻

KINKTOBER LIST MASTERLIST
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
          You were sitting in your cabin, sighing, while looking at all the papers of the marine that you’d managed to get your hands on—they had some clues that could be very useful for the crew. There were areas where you could expand Whitebeard’s influence and places that could be useful for hiding or getting new stuff, like armament.
It needed a significant part of your attention and many notes to be written, but it wasn’t necessarily boring; you were thankful the day wasn’t that eventful so that you could give it your full attention. Maybe Pops would be proud of you when he saw your notes.
The door to your cabin opened, and someone walked in, closing the door behind them. Judging by the casualty, it could be no one other than Ace—he threw himself on your bed and sighed. He sighed again and shifted on the bed, and it repeated itself a few times. Ah, fuck. So he was in that mood. It also made you sigh, predicting what would go on as you kept working, trying to keep your attention on your work for as long as you could.
“(Y/n),” Ace said in a dragged groan; you glanced back, seeing he had his face buried into one of your pillows.
“What?” You hummed without much interest; Ace just said your name again, whiny. Okay, there was no way around it. “Come here,” you muttered.
Ace grinned as he walked over to you. He moved to get on your lap, but you raised a hand for him to pause before you stood up and let him sit on the armchair instead. It’d be better to be on his lap rather than have him on yours, given how unquiet he was. He’d bother you less, that way, though you hardly ever found his presence to be annoying; you wouldn’t admit it, though, not when it could encourage Ace to cling to you even more.
A soft hum came from Ace as he pressed his face to your shoulder and wrapped his arms around your waist. All you can do now is hope that he won’t distract you a lot.
“What are you doing?” Ace muttered, looking over your shoulder. He didn’t really understand what you were doing. Well, he didn’t even put effort into it.
“Just resuming some stuff about the marine,” you muttered, sounding distant while scribbling on that notebook. It had some crossed words and arrows pointing to notes on the corner of the pages.
Ace hummed softly, pretending to understand it. He sighed, looking around the room for a moment. Why was it so boring? He kissed your shoulder, seeking some attention from you. An uninterested hum of acknowledgment wasn’t what he looked for, so he groaned and kissed the side of your neck instead, trying to see if that’d do any good. He still didn’t get any attention, so he tried nipping on your neck, tugging on the skin with your teeth until you paused and glared at him. Ace pouted.
You turned back to the papers. Ace didn’t bite on your neck anymore, thankfully, but he started shifting you an awful lot instead; it wasn’t the best thing, but it wasn’t as bad as when he was nibbling and kissing you like that. It seemed innocent, of course, but you should’ve known better.
“(Y/n),” Ace whined as he kissed your shoulder. His boner was pressed to your ass, grinding against it as he let out another groan.
“Ace, I’m busy now!” You sighed, though you couldn’t ignore the sparkle of pleasure that sparkled up your spine. Ace grumbled something that was muffled against the back of your shoulder as he ground his hips against yours again.
“Please, just a little something,” Ace mumbled as he kept grinding against you, in a way you had to stop writing. “Please, just let me in,” he whispered, reaching a hand between your thighs. “Just let me inside you, I won’t do anything more, just let me be inside you. I need to be inside you, pretty please, it feels so good, please…”
Saying you had a weak spot for Ace was a great understatement; you wished he wouldn’t learn the fact you’d probably do whatever he asked if he did it properly. You took a deep breath, trying to cool down yourself a little bit.
“Yeah, okay,” you whispered. “Just that.”
Nothing could go wrong, right?
You shifted a little so that you could unbutton your pants and push them down with your underwear—as well as give Ace space to do the same. Slowly, you returned to his lap, groaning softly as his cock slipped between your folds, collecting your wetness and mixing it with his pre-cum, before finally pushing inside you. It had your breath catching in your throat a couple of times as you let your weight down on him, finding a comfortable position on his lap.
It was good. Ace stretched you fine, pressing to some nice spots inside you, but it wasn’t something you couldn’t handle. You took a deep breath to clear your mind, hoping you could go back to your work. Keyword: hoping.
The first few minutes were actually okay. Ace just slumped on the armchair, with his arms lazily wrapped around your waist. However, he occasionally throbbed, twitched inside you. It happened once, twice, and a quiet groan escaped Ace’s lips. Of course, he couldn’t sit still or keep his mind clean, even more so when he was deep inside you and with nothing to do.
“(Y/—”
“No,” you said immediately, continuing to write. You couldn’t be distracted now, right when you managed to focus—at least as much as possible at the moment. Ace whined in defeat, shifting his hips a little. “Don’t move, Ace,” you patted his forearm a little. “You said you just wanted to be inside, yeah? That’s all you get. Now behave.”
Ace complained under his breath as you went back to writing, making notes in your notebook. As much as you also enjoyed it a lot, your self-control was better than Ace’s; it wasn’t that hard having more self-control than Ace, in all honesty. You wanted to ride him, feel him hit repeatedly that spot inside you that sent sparkles down your spine, making you curl your toes, but you also wanted it to last. If you just gave in and rode him already, the fun just wouldn’t be the same. It was a nice contrast, compared to the frantic fucking that happened often.
The thoughts crossed your mind, making you unconsciously clench around Ace—he let out a soft whimper in response, which you pretended not to notice while keeping your attention on the papers.
You’d barely ever had Ace’s cock still inside you like that, instead of pushing into you at a fast pace. It felt nice, almost making it impossible not to clench around him, seeking more pleasure just from the fact of having him stretching you so nicely, reaching in deep.
Okay, okay, focus. You were getting distracted again. You could do that, it was almost over, anyway.
“Fuck,” Ace breathed as he adjusted his arms around your waist. He tensed up, clearly struggling to keep his hips still. His breath caught in his throat, cock twitching inside you, and he held the air for a moment before slowly relaxing under you, trying to exhale slowly.
The temptation was great.
Ace shifted a little bit, and it wasn’t clear whether he was angled perfectly or the constant tension had you very sensitive, but it immediately snatched a moan from your lips.
“Baby…” Ace tried, letting one of his hands rest on your thigh.
“Let me finish, Ace,” you tried to sound as sharp as possible, but you had a pathetic breathy and shaky voice. “‘M almost there.”
Ace let out a whine, but he didn’t complain further, only letting his hand rest on your thigh. Through time, though, his hand started squeezing your thigh, letting his fingers sink into the skin; he eventually paused and massaged over the skin instead. “How much longer?” He mumbled. “God, you feel so good around me, so hot, so tight…”
“Shut up,” you muttered. Your throat felt dry, in a way it was difficult to swallow.
Ace shifted again, snatching another moan from you. That was impossible.
You sighed, putting your pen away and leaning back against Ace.
“Hey,” Ace gasped. “What are you— Fuck…” He moaned as he felt you roll your hips. He took hold of your hips, groaning as he rubbed circles into your skin, encouragingly.
It was a little difficult since there was no support to move your hips, but the armchair was thankfully wide enough so that you could pull your legs up on it, sitting in a sort of w position with your legs. Riding Ace was much better now, your hands tight around the chair’s armrests as you started moving your hips, relieving the need that had started building inside you this whole time.
“So good,” you breathed to Ace. His finger moved to dig into your waist, and whatever he mumbled between moans, it was too messy for you to understand. He lazily moved his hips up so that he could fuck you as well, watching his cock disappear deep inside you repeatedly. You were so wet, and he was leaking so much—there was a creamy white ring at the base of his cock, where both of you met. The squelching sounds were so fucking lewd, somehow turning Ace on even more, if possible.
Leaning back made Ace’s cock reach a new angle inside you; it had the arousal pooling in your lower stomach much faster, sending sparkles of pleasure up your spine. You reached a hand between your legs, collecting some of the wetness between your folds to play with your clit, rubbing the pads of your fingers against it in pace with his thrusts and your movements. Your eyes rolled back with pleasure. It wasn’t a fast fuck or a dynamic one. It was slow, messy, and sloppy, but still managed to make you feel so fucking good.
Your orgasm built in your lower stomach rather fast, but still felt so fucking good as it finally arrived, making your thighs quiver as you came all around Ace’s cock, clenching tight around him. Ace whimpered, muttering more slurred, incoherent words that you couldn’t make out through his pleased sounds. He also came, gulping as his hips stuttered to meet yours and fuck his cum inside you, while his grip tightened around your waist. It hurt, but also felt so good.
Ace’s moans got higher-pitched, breathy, because you just didn’t stop. You kept moving, riding him even after he came. He watched the mix of cum slip down his cock as it kept disappearing inside you. As much as he could feel the overstimulation threatening to kick in, he couldn’t bring you to stop. He didn’t want you to. He just melted more into the seat, gasping and moaning as he let you continue to fuck yourself with him.

it takes a conscious effort to break your patterns of consumption and unlearn the notion beauty, interiority, diverse ways of existence aren't exclusive to whiteness or maleness. part of that isn't your fault. certain music is played on the radio, certain shows survive cancellation no matter what, certain people seem to be able to commit the worst possible acts against other human beings and are excused on account of their creative genius. others are selectively punished, with good reason sure, but still, selectively.
now more than ever it's easier to immerse yourself in art made by people outside of the mainstream. reading lists, free resources, playlists... all this stuff is more accessible than ever, but you've got to make an effort to give it a try. it's black history month, the recs are pouring in, go have a look. or take a chance on something absolutely no one has recommended anywhere and if you find something you like, rec it to someone else because the likelihood is they haven't heard of it.
tracy chapman's "fast car" is one of eleven songs that appears on her self-titled debut album. can you name the second hit single from it? if you're american and you fell anywhere left of center as of the 2016 election, it should be on the tip of your tongue if you were engaged in your country's politics at the time, regardless of your level of actual investment in the system. if not, the next time you're doing a task you need both hands with, washing the dishes, having dinner, doing your makeup, put that album on.
there's a post with over 100K notes on here that i see all the time of bruce springsteen and clarence clemons kissing. there's a part of that that is immediately meaningful to many if you're lgbtq, and a part that is harder for non-black lgbtq people to feel the weight of. but it is worth trying to do and was part of the reason why they kissed so often in the first place. clarence clemons was from norfolk, virginia. he released multiple albums outside of his work with the e street band. they may not be for you, but give them a try.
give enough music, or movies, or books that aren't a part of the approved canon a try, and there's no way you won't find something you don't feel as passionate about as you do about springsteen, siken, the beatles, what have you.
james baldwin was a prolific artist. see if you can't find something of his you like more than giovanni's room.
immerse yourself in ringo sheena, who mitski cites as one of her influences.
if you have difficulty paying attention to music you don't recognize, (i get it) make a playlist that alternates tracks you know and love with brand new tracks. start small. 5 faves of all time, 5 you're going to try out. you won't like everything, but you might find yourself looking forward to 6 songs instead of 5 eventually.
for movies, pick an actor whose performance you loved in something and explore their work. last year i picked whoopi goldberg, also a prolific artist, with a vast body of work that's pretty accessible as a result of her constant, intentional effort.
if you're an artist yourself, you can only stand to improve by getting to know your fellow artists better. so expand your notion of what art is. you can do it for free in lots of cases, and you're spending that time listening to music or reading or watching movies or series anyway, what have you got to lose?
anti-racism sometimes means engaging in real-world narratives of pain endured by brown and black people. that pain permeates much of our art, but we're just as three-dimensional as everybody else, and every aspect of our experiences come through in our work. you know that already, because what else is happening when you indulge in various genres. for everything you love or enjoy, there's a brown or black person who's doing something along those lines, in many cases, those genres wouldn't exist in their current form without the influence of our communities, some more than others, depending on where you're from. you can actually keep one foot inside your comfort zone and dip your toe into something else. that choice is both a joy and a luxury.

I have several headcannons for the Overwatch Heroes, I’m going to share them
Moira is a coffee addict however caffeine can’t affect her, like it won’t wake her up or energize her it does nothing but if she goes without she experiences withdrawal. She has a side project where she’s trying to create a serum that will allow caffeine to actually affect her, unbeknownst to her however he colleagues both at Oasis and Talon have been sabotaging this project as they are terrified of what will happen if she can actually experience caffeine
Roadhog’s name was actually started before the Omnium explosion, a kid had given him a pig to stitch onto his shotgun holster and some of his friends called him Roadhog as a joke, it stopped being a joke after the explosion
Venture has a house that while they don’t often stay there long they do keep a collection that they started from their various jobs. Jars of dirt from each dig site they’ve ever worked at, with a flag for the country it’s from and a sticker with some information about the dig site. When they’re hunting down relic thieves they collect some dirt from each place they go on their search and adds it into a singular jar with some barriers but in to separate the different dirt from the rest alongside the usual things they put on the jars
Mauga is trained in how to be a bartender. He learned back during his days as a Raider to do undercover work on their targets, either for assassinations or information gathering. He still makes plenty of drinks for Talon and he does hope to share a drink with Baptiste again at some point, either when one of them is on death’s door or as friends again so he keeps a small bottle on his person of Bap’s favorite drink just in case
Genji occasionally forgets to take his mask off when drinking or eating, not because he’s embarrassed about his face but because at times it feels like his mask is actually his face. Zenyatta has been trying to help him with this, with more difficulty than expected
Zenyatta actually had several jobs before the crisis happened, so many that not even Ramattra knows all of them. He uses this knowledge to mess with people a lot but it also makes him a jack of all trades so he helps out with a lot of things around Shambali with a lot of things
Before Zarya joined the military she had several flavors for protein shakes that she loved to have, however after she joined she has stuck with unflavored mixed into water so that it’s quick to make and take before and after her battles. She hates the lack of flavor so much that she intends to expand her pallet of flavors once she is done fighting so she can forget the unflavored
Dr Winston (the human) got Hammond into contact with an engineering friend on Earth in an effort to at least lessen the amount of time the hamster escaped a day. This friend didn’t know about the cruelty the Horizon Test Subjects faced and Hammond could see that. The friend helped Hammond develop the first version of his hamster to human translator be showing the blueprints of past translators and shared all sorts of ideas with him on things to make. Before he met the Junkers Hammond only liked this one human, and he hopes to meet her someday, if nothing but to at least tell her he’s okay. Until then he busies himself with crossing off ideas on the list they made together, and making sure each one works
Mei had friends she would talk to from other ecopoints, she hopes to get back in contact with them at some point and catch up but with the program having been shut down for a long time she hasn’t had much luck in that endeavor

— metaphors about running | k. bakugou
The thing about running somewhere, what they don’t tell you, is that it’s all about momentum.
Inertia. To move and keep moving blind to circumstances. Any trackstar worth a dime will tell you as much. To encourage movement, many runners will see the track as life or death. Our bodies naturally response to fear — fight or flight. To flee, to hold onto instinct and run fast is all contingent on your momentum.
Katsuki Bakugou is 19 when he meets you for the first time. In a dingy bar, as a friend of a friend. You look like you don’t want to be there just like he doesn’t and you bond mutually over the fact. He’d blamed the chemistry on drinking. A little alcohol could turn him into the Pope, really. And you were clever, as expected of Jirou’s friends. And the world is terribly unkind to Katsuki at 19 — before he’s really anything but a rookie trying to prove himself.
A world that tends to swallow him up like a boat in a seastorm. Left defenseless to the lofty dreams he set out for himself at 4 that he refuses to let go of - he thinks maybe he liked you because you cared nothing at all. He relished in your normalcy. Your normal job and normal friends and normal hobbies. Even your offhanded jabs seemed like they came from a life that was easily fulfilled by simplicity. Perhaps it’s a sort of magnetism, that pull he feels to your neutrality. Your completeness.
It’s a light jog at first. It starts that way. Your friend group casually meshes and little by little - your face appears in the back if Katsukis mind. He cant remember the last time he thought about anyone but himself. It’s a light, aimless jog. A directionless way of maintaining distance on something that seemed to keep closing in. When hanging out on free weekends didn’t feel bother some and when text messages became thing to look forward to. He stopped putting his phone on DND. When the gap widened, Katsuki had no choice but to pull away.
Then he’s… running. With less intent but more effort, Katsuki finds himself in a place where his body puts up walls and dashes from them. Somewhere in the back — he can hear them being shattered but he doesn’t turn his head to look. At 22, he opens his own agency and tops the Hero Chart all in the same year. His list of accolades and list of tasks only expands and his time is shorter than ever before. He understands the phrase time is running out, also hinging on the concept of inertia. At this point in his career, he hasn’t stopped back to look but can feel you chasing him without an effort. Like a shadow wrapped around his ankles.
His agency lets you in without checking ID. Just last week you organized his desk when he fell asleep on it and apparently you went shopping with his mom. His dad knows your name because he calls you it, instead of some crude and unremarkable nickname. Emotions are as finnicky as the sands of time, Katsuki knows it best. Maybe the reason all of his feelings for you seem to remain clear and steady is because he had failed to consider everything.
He takes you as a plus one to a wedding at 24. You drink too much and sleep on his shoulders on the cab ride home - dressed extra nice. You were nervous because it was your first public Hero wedding, and the words “not the last” slipped out of his mouth. Past his lips and into your hands, where you held them careful. You smiled the same smile you always do, the one that sends Katsuki flying backwards.
The thing about running is that you normally have a place where you want to end up. Sometimes its the finish line. Other times, you’re a child racing your parent home or a student racing to get cover from rain but there’s always somewhere to be and always things around you to consider. The weather and the terrain. At 24, Katsuki is tracing the curve your hips and wondering.
Maybe, there’s something about where he is that makes everything feels so stagnant. That this isn’t a straight line in the opposite direction but a venture around the Earth. Maybe he’s running against time, an invisble thing that’s left his heart pumping for you the same. At 19, at 22, at 24. Five years is only one grain of sand in times hourglass, but somehow Katsuki feels buried under it all the same.
For a moment, he sprints. His body isn’t what it used to be. At 25, he has an argument with you he can’t escape from. When the adrenaline runs out, the anxiety kicks in. When your body is just ready to stop, when the physical toll touches your muscles and splinters into your soul. A tough year with a lot of loss. Sharp words that make his mouth fill with iron like he bit his tongue while trying to talk. You’ll never fucking understand me, he says bitter and tired so stop getting in my fucking way.
Months pass after that argument, but the hurt on your expression is something Katsukis mind can’t forget. You’re still friends technically. He knows you’re there but it’s different now. Like a torn muscle, ripped to shreds. Katsuki feels his legs give in when his 27th birthday passes and all he recieves is a voice memo. It’s not something to call a break-up, but what word is there for the inconceivable loss of you? A piece of him goes missing. Like somewhere along the way, your shadows merged.
He stops running at 27. It’s slow at first, then he’s skidding to a halt and stumbling over himself. When he stops to look around, it dawns on him. He’d been running in circles all this time. For 8 years, he’s run the same distance all to find himself drawn back to you. Always you, inevitably you.
Every part of his body aches when he drags himself to your door to beg for your forgiveness. To pray that, you’d been keeping up with him too. You open the door and your face is still prettier than the moon. For the first time, Katsuki is motionless. Steady as he studies your face, your puffy eyes and pouting lips. It’s unlike him to be so still. A statue, tongue tied by the feelings in his throat. Even after you invite him in, and he sits - his chest is tight.
When Katsuki stops running, he takes a deep breath. You offer him a drink, and it’s one you know he likes. When Katsuki stops running, his elbows rest on his knees and he’s got his eyes closed. When Katsuki stops running, he only thinks one thing. His head is clear. His heart is slowly returning to its steady pace. Love is a motionless, floaty thing.
“Fuck, I love you. I really fucking love you.”
When Katsuki is no longer running, his vision clears to see your smile. A teary grin. His heart is so calm.
“I love you too, idiot.”

Hiii I recently became a Carat and as an avid fanfic reader, I was wondering if there are any stories you can recommend!! I have no member preference, as long as there is an interesting story (longer the better, if there are chapters even better). And i love me a good smut 👀
hi sweetheart!! first and foremost, i recommend checking out the other authors of svthub. here you'll find a variety of svt writers!!! as of right now we're doing our spring collab, so def check that out!!! note that i only have a few members on here (gyu, joshie, hoshi, kwannie)? i didn't realize until i finished that i only had these four???? idk if this is my subconscious trying to tell me something but i'll continue to ignore it!!!
my personal faves are all reblogged under fic rec, but here's some that have stood out to me since reading~
spoiled by @wonusite ; KMG
"summary: you have never been spoiled, but that changes after you meet the man your mother is going to marry."
it's got four parts and is so fucking disgusting and wonderful it's ridiculous. it's seriously a marvel to humanity tbh and when aliens come and ask for a relic to prove that humans deserve to be spared from their alien wrath, i'll give them these fics <3

it isn't necessarily long, but it is so fucking sweet and artful? in my tags i described it as truly belonging to the golden hour, and tbh i still stand by it. it's incredibly tender and freya's way with words reminds me of ancient greek and roman statues; there's an era in art called neoclassical, where artists mostly focus on depicting mythos and creatures from greek, roman, and christian lore. like, an angel with outstretched wings, her shawl expanding and wrapping around her, heaven's spotlight surrounding.

probably the dirtiest fic on this list. it's absolutely wild. there was NO preparing for everything in this fic? it's insane. absolutely insane fr. like -- even reading the tags can't prepare you. reader wasn't prepared and i really don't think ANYONE ever could have been.

Foreign Films to Expand Into
I saw a post regarding the writer’s strike that suggested Americans maybe make the effort of watching a foreign film, and while I agree, I didn’t think its tone was super helpful. Don’t get me wrong, I’m the queen of “Pull yourself out of a rut!!” but I don’t think “Americans are so fucking stupid they don’t realize other countries make movies” is actually trying to help anyone, so much as add to the idea that I guess the rest of the world is being forced to watch Captain America at gunpoint.
But I DO want Americans to watch foreign films, in the same way that I want them to watch indie films, and I want people of all nations and stripes to expand their understanding of what they’re used to, to push themselves into something else they might like. I think my family would say that it’s fair to call me a person who is open to experience. I love to try things! That’s why I have the book draw, that’s why I go see movies I’m not sure about, that’s why I actively seek out foods I’ve never tried. You deserve to make your life interesting, to be challenged, to provide enrichment in your enclosure. You are worth the effort of a richly textured life! And movies are often a pretty cheap way to go about stepping outside of your comfort zone. I can’t wait to hear what you thought of any of these!
Obviously, if you are not American, one  of these may not be foreign to you. Yes, I know that.
I don’t hold out that all of these are hidden gems--some of them are, or were, extremely popular movies. Many of them won awards. But I do hold out that these are some of my favorites, and I would love to share them with you. I did, however, try to avoid anything that I thought already got a lot of play on tumblr: I don’t need to tell anyone here to watch Parasite, Portrait of a Lady on Fire, or any given Ghibili movie (Though you should watch Grave of the Fireflies--it’s my favorite).
Pan’s Labyrinth (Mexico and Spain): This is my favorite foreign film of all time and I am breaking my, “I’m not putting any movie on here I don’t need to tell you to watch” rule right away because it is in fact one of my favorite movies of all time, American or foreign. It is a lush story about fantasy, facism, courage, and the horror of childhood. Warning: This movie is very very intense. Do not be fooled by the fact that Del Toro also does like fucking…Hellboy. He also can make very serious, very good movies, and he does not shy away from the brutality of the Spanish Civil War. If you liked Labyrinth but you’re fully grown now and I want a story about fantasy bargains for the adult crowd, this is for you.
The Orphanage (Spain): I love Spanish horror, and so it was really, really difficult to only pick one. But this has been one of my favorites for years, a classic Spanish slow burn that deals with the long shadow of childhood and the line between the supernatural and the natural. If you like pensive horror movies like The VVitch, I really think you should give this one a try.
Hero (China): I know a lot of y’all are into wuxia now, but back when this came out it wasn’t a thing I had ever heard of*. Hero is, as the title might imply, a sweeping historical epic with fantastic fight scenes and gorgeous cinematography. If you enjoy stories told in multiple interpretations, high-flying wire work, and with some ideas about war, peace, and truth that tempt without asking too much of you, you’ll love this.
Cold War (Poland): Listen, I love Cuarón, Mexican and Spanish movies absolutely dominate my list of foreign films I’ve watched, but I genuinely thought Cold War deserved the edge over Roma for the Oscar that year. It’s a fairly short movie for the times, coming in at less than 90 minutes, and it wastes not even one second of that film time. Cold War is a bittersweet love story not only with two people toward each other, but feels deeply critical of Poland while recognizing the impossibility of unbraiding yourself from it. If you love impossible, bittersweet, happily never after love stories with stark and striking cinematography, you’ll adore Cold War.
Tigers Are Not Afraid (Mexico): I adore an unflinching take on childhood, and this movie is absolutely that. It essentially asks, “How do children survive in a world full of trauma?” and the answer is that sometimes, they don’t. This movie is a little frenetic, admittedly, but the ways fantasy and imagination is woven into a group of street children orphaned by the cartels is something I haven’t been able to stop thinking about since I first saw it, and I think the final shot is pitch perfect. If you liked Pan’s Labyrinth this is required viewing, as I think it shares a lot of themes.
The African Doctor (France): “Holligay, if you put another fucking downer movie in this list I am going to BEAT YOUR ASS” Okay, okay, we’re going to ignore my general predilections and everything from here on down is fairly life-affirming or comedic or easy. This is about a little village in France in the 1970s that gets an African doctor. It’s sweet, and funny, and you come away from it feeling good. Also I still laugh every time Seyolo responds to the fact that most of the villagers had never seen a black person with: “So what? Now they will.” If you like sweet fish out of water stories with nice endings, this is for you.
Om Shanti Om (India): I maintain that this is the best movie to watch if you’re brand new to Bollywood. It mostly avoid the worst of its excesses while delighting in all of its strengths. It is a genuinely fun film with fantastic songs, and a shockingly together storyline for a Bollywood movie (affectionate). I’ve actually done a full review of this one, but in the short version: If you loved Moulin Rouge and wanted more of that mix of tragedy and silliness on a operatic level, I think you’ll be in for a treat.
The Warrior’s Way (South Korea and New Zealand): Okay, this movie is not good, and also it manages to be bad. But it’s in English, so if you’ve been sitting there like my dad going, ‘I am not gonna read a movie” well, here you go. If you’ve ever said to yourself, “I want to watch a Western, but I wish it were actually a HK style cheesy action movie” BOY HOWDY AM I HERE FOR YOU. I watched this one insanely drunk and still managed to be like, “wow! This is so bad! Maximum valid!” If you thought RRR** was good, but too deep, you will have the BEST time with The Warrior’s Way.
Anyway, this is, of course, an incomplete list, and I’m sure I’ve forgotten something I love, since this was just made off the cuff. I would love to hear if you watch or like any of these, and also, if, looking at this list, you have a recommendation for me, let me know! There are so so many fucking movies out there, and so many fall through the cracks.
I’m thinking about doing another one of these on “Indie movies you might have missed” and also “Movies that were made before you enfants were born” (30+ years) so let me know if anything like that is interesting! Or, if there’s a category you think I might know about you’re into, let me know also.
*I actually have a lot of emotional attachment to Hero, as I have a very distinct memory of standing in the Hastings, in front of the small foreign-film section, and it being the first foreign film I picked up. I was, I think, sixteen, and I had decided that I was going to be worldly, and interesting, and cultured, and so I took a deep dive into cooking from other cultures, and watching foreign films, and buying old art history textbooks, reading classics, and listening to opera, and formal manners. Basically becoming the person I wished I were, that poised Grace Kelly type, even if I was born to the drone of the grasshoppers on the wind. To quote Reba Macintire, “You know I mighta been born just plain white trash, but Fancy was my name” and all that. And this movie was a distinct part of that, in that it was the first, in a long line of me trying to be a more well-rounded and interesting person.
**RRR (India): Actually on that note, watch RRR. It’s a fantastically fun Indian action film that I keep meaning to watch again because I got a little too drunk for drinking on an emopty stomach the first time I saw it, so it might actually also be good, but I do remember enjoying the shit out of it and there is a scene that has such Fareeha vibes to me.

The Box (Although Not the Suggestion One, as That Doesn't Exist)
29. Element
From this list of gt prompts
AU: Good Omens/Doctor Who crossover, based on this post by @mayomkun and a conversation with @neonthewrite.
Note: My first time writing a Good Omens fic! I couldn't resist once I saw the art linked above, not to mention the rare opportunity to write for a smol Doctor! Also... this got quite long, almost twice as long as my usual prompts. I had lots of fun with these dorks!
Spoilers for Good Omens season 2, but only for like the first 5 minutes.
~~~
The angel sighed glumly, kicking up a small whorl of stardust floating past.
It had been some time since the other angel who'd helped jumpstart this whole pet project had flown off, a bit flustered to get back to his own duties. Busy work, being a Principality, he supposed. That left the angel alone to stare, morose, at what had brought him so much joy not long ago.
All that time spent in the design process, all that effort sunk into putting on a magnificent show– and functional to boot, with all the stars the nebulas could churn out, given the time! All of that, just pfft in 6,000 years flat, once the Almighty got around to creating that "Earth".
Surely it must have been an oversight, thought the angel. He'd been working on this nebula right alongside some of the higher-ups who definitely would know about such a thing as Earth and the "people" meant to be the audience for all their hard work. And yet he'd heard nothing about it until that other angel- Aziraphale, was that his name? -brought it up right after the nebula came bursting into existence. Maybe the higher-ups simply assumed he knew about it, too? That could be why it was never mentioned.
Ah, well… soon enough, the angel would fly off to try and find someone he could talk to about this whole universal-shutdown business. He couldn't help feeling a bit wounded that so much went into things like this, all for it to be nothing but fluff and spectacle for one tiny little planet off in the corner. A corner that wasn't even fully manifested yet! For now, though, a part of him was reluctant to leave. It was still a beautiful sight, if he said so himself; watching the gasses and dust swirl, elements coming together only to expand in bursts of color and light. He reckoned someone ought to enjoy it before it all went up.
Then something made the angel's ear ring and his wing twitch uncomfortably. Some kind of odd sound that he had a hard time pinpointing below the muffled noise of the nebula coming to life all around.
With a befuddled frown and a wave of his hand, the angel expanded his perception of the space around him. The nebula soared overhead, and the ever-shifting motion of the brand new stars and their infant planets, all of which also blew up to an immense scale compared to the angel now, slowed to a crawl and then nearly a standstill.
From down at this new scale, the sound was a bit clearer to hear, but no less baffling to the angel. His head moved on a swivel to try and spot the source of the stuttering wheeze that seemed to be circling about. While the noise wasn't exactly threatening, it was unusual and, quite frankly, a bit upsetting.
It came into view slowly. Rather literally, it seemed to struggle to manifest once the angel caught sight of it. Something blue and angular and about the size of his hand, fading in and out of sight in time with the struggling noise, finally coming into full solid form with a low sound that almost could be mistaken for a sigh of relief.
The angel's eyes were wide. That hadn't been in the blueprints.
With a flex of his wings, the angel flew closer to the strange object that had appeared. A curious finger hesitantly reached out to touch one of the sides of the box to find that it truly was material! Not just dust and gas, but something actually tangible!
He'd just begun to wonder what exactly this odd and mysterious blue thing was, reaching for it with both hands with the intention to turn it over and figure out just how it worked, when one side of the box suddenly swung inward. The angel's hands twitched back in shock.
The box was alive??
Then, something even more shocking happened: out of the opening in the box leaned a tiny figure. A very similar shape to the ones angels took these days; pairs of arms and legs, one head, but no wings to be seen. And the tiny figure looked just as shocked to see the angel as he was to see it.
"Ah," it said after a moment. "Right, uh, hello! Sorry to barge in on you like this, but I've, ah, gotten myself slightly stuck, I think."
The angel caught himself staring agape at the little fellow. There wasn't supposed to be anything alive in this quadrant for a few million years, let alone sentient and capable of speech! The thought suddenly occurred as he remembered what Aziraphale had gone on about earlier: was this one of the "people" they were working on? He hadn't been hanging around that long, had he??
"Um," the angel managed to respond. "Not to be rude, but you wouldn't happen to be from Earth, would you?"
A flash of recognition crossed the absolutely teeny face of the figure- the person, rather- but he hesitated before answering. "Well, not quite that, but I was in the neighborhood. Must have gotten myself turned around somehow, and ended up in another…"
He trailed off as he leaned further out of the box, looking this way and that until his gaze landed on the looming nebula, and he stopped to behold it.
A warm bubble of excitement rose up in the angel's chest, cutting right through the confusion of the moment. All this time he'd been so worried about the people not being able to witness the wonders the universe had to offer far beyond that Earth place, and however this one got here, he wasn't about to waste a second!
"Yes, of course! Where are my manners?" The angel cleared his throat and maneuvered himself to float a short distance from the box to keep from blocking the view. He gestured grandly upwards with his arms and wings and said, "Allow me to introduce you to–!"
"The Horsehead Nebula," gasped the man.
The angel's head whipped around, the feathers in his wings ruffled agitatedly as he once again stared in shock.
The person in the box continued, "But it's just starting out! All those stars are only beginning to burn. Barely put the timer on the pressure cooker yet! Oh…! Look at you, you're gorgeous!"
A flurry of emotions flooded the angel as he listened to the little man praise his work (even using the same phrasing the angel had, making him quite proud of it all over again) but he did it in a way that was extremely odd. Like he expected it to be different. It did feel good to be recognized, but something didn't sit right.
"You've…seen it before?" asked the angel, floating cautiously closer once again.
"Oh, dozens of times!" the man exclaimed. "One of the classic star factories of the known universe, personal favorite of mine-,"
The angel interrupted, "Sorry, but I'm afraid that's impossible. I was here to kick all this off, as it were, and I haven't gone anywhere. And, meaning no offense, you are…surprisingly hard to miss in all this. If you'd been here 'dozens of times' already, I'd have noticed, and as far as I know, only the others who worked on it should even know what it looks like!"
Despite the angel getting worked up about it, he was more perplexed by this strange creature than he was upset with him. He sensed no falsehoods when he spoke, which only confused him more.
"Hang on, so, you…" the man blinked as he processed, glancing back and forth between the angel and the nebula. "When you say ‘worked on’, that sort of sounds like it was by design. Is… is that how this universe came about, and not by happenstance? You're telling me you built this??" Though his tone was incredulous, there was more awe in it than disbelief.
“Well, I…” For someone so small, this mysterious man had a way with his words that completely disarmed the angel. With a flustered grin, he admitted, “It was a group effort, but I was the one lucky enough to start it all up.” To punctuate the point, he gave a revving gesture to mimic the way he’d cranked up the engine just before it all came about.
Agape, the man gazed back up at the nebula. “Wow. I mean that is just…smashing work, really! If I’d known it looked this magnificent brand-new, I’d have come to see it ages ago–,”
“Flattery will get you nowhere,” the angel chided, shaking off the pride the little fellow kept stirring up, distracting him from figuring this oddity out. He did his best to emulate the authoritative tone of voice those upstairs took on, but he wasn’t sure how well it was coming across. Crossing his arms to try and look more serious, he insisted, “Now, I rather think you’ve got some explaining to do about just what you’re doing here, and why you claim to know so much about my nebula. I’ve half a mind to report you!”
Tiny little hands shot up in a soothing gesture. “Alright now, no need to get your…wings in a twist. I can explain, it’s just… well, it’s a bit complicated.”
The angel’s brow jumped expectantly, ready to listen.
“Right.” The man shoved his hands in his pockets with an awkward shrug. "Well, for starters, I’m a bit of a traveler. Travel through time and space, to be exact. That’s why I say I’ve seen this nebula before, even though it’s only just begun to exist. Seen it in the future, loads of times. Can’t resist, really, especially when I’ve got people aboard who don’t have the opportunity to get this far out from their own planets.”
“There are more of you in there?” blurted the angel, curiosity overriding the stern tone he’d tried to put on. Glancing up at the Horsehead, he said more softly, “And you… take them here just to see it?”
It was admittedly a lovely notion. Someone out there, in the future, bothered to trek across half the universe just to see the beauty of its workings. Warmed something in the angel’s chest to think that maybe all this work wasn’t for nothing.
“Well… not at the moment, no,” the man confessed, glancing back into the dark inner space of the box. “Just me right now…”
The angel’s wings drooped as he tried to imagine how that felt. Being a part of the Heavenly Host generally meant that one was never truly alone. They were all part of a group, and they knew they could rely on one another in times of need. Being all alone in a little box sounded quite…
“And you, erm… You’d said before that you were stuck?” the angel prompted, his voice much quieter in light of all this new information.
“Ah! Yes, I did!” the man burst out, as though remembering that he was, in fact, in a bit of a crisis. He shook off all the distractions and leaned back out to lock eyes with the angel. “I dunno if you can help me, but… Well, you see, this is actually not the universe I belong to. It’s a bit too much to explain, but the long and short of it is, I was semi-accidentally pushed past the limits of my own universe into this one. And well, you see, my box here, it runs on energy native to my universe, so I’m running on empty. Not even running, she’s just sort of… dead in the metaphorical water.”
He ran a tender hand along the blue threshold for a moment before returning his attention outward and upward. “This did happen once before, and I managed to get it fixed by recharging it with some of my own life energy, but now I’m thinking that maybe- Well, I’m wondering if, since you were able to create all this out here, then you could perhaps give me a bit of a jump start!”
"Oh! Erm, I can surely try," said the angel, doing his best to sound confident. "Should be simple, really, with a nebula under the ol' belt!"
The angel's arms uncrossed and he once again reached both hands out with the intent to take hold of the little blue box.
"Oi!" exclaimed the man, jumping back from the doors. The angel paused, sheepish when he realized that, being so small, the poor fellow must not have seen him coming and got startled. It would be quite a sight, he supposed, a great big pair of hands coming at him all at once.
"Ah! Forgive me. See, there aren't meant to be people quite yet, so I don't really know how to…" the angel trailed off with a bashful chuckle, then waved the thought off. He gave a gentle beat of his wings to back off ever so slightly so the little bloke could see more of him and hopefully not be afraid. Cupping his hands before him in the manner he intended to hold the box, he asked, "May I?"
The little man stood straight again, and gave a rather pointed adjustment to his clothes. "Gently as you can, if you must," he insisted.
"I'll be very careful," promised the angel with a nod. Then, much slower this time, he reached out and brought his palms up to meet the very bottom of the box, fingers curling up behind to very gently stabilize it.
As soon as the angel made prolonged contact, the gravity of the situation with the box became clear. The little man had tried to explain it, but now the angel could feel it. His eyes closed as he opened himself up to fully understanding.
"Oh, dear…" he breathed, briefly overwhelmed by the cold, empty feeling the box gave him. No ordinary box, it would seem, with its deceptively vast interior compared to the exterior. Another universe, indeed. The angel could also sense that it should contain its own spark of life, but as the man has said, it was completely devoid of it. An incredibly well-loved box, but assuredly in dire straits.  "You are unwell, poor thing."
Blinking his eyes open, he found the man just within the threshold, watching with uncertainty and a little bit of awe. The angel gave a resolute nod and decided, "You're most definitely in need of a miracle."
With that, the angel shifted his grip to hold the box in one hand, the little man clinging to the box's opening to keep upright. Such a small, gentle movement for the angel impacted the man much more. He focused on the task at hand, taking a deep breath to concentrate his energy in the very heart of the box deep within it. Once he felt it, his free hand lifted and there was only one thing to do.
"Let there be light," he whispered, drawing his hand down to call upon the powers of Heaven.
The change was immediate. On the angel's command, the interior of the box flickered to life. The man whirled around to watch a blue-green energy fill what looked like a column in the center of a round room much bigger than the limits of the box the angel held in his hand. That room also lit up with tiny motes of yellow all around, and the little man gave an elated whoop at the sight.
"You did it!" exclaimed the man, turning the biggest grin such a small person could make to the angel. "This should be just enough to get home!"
"Oh, it's no trouble really, I–,"
The angel's bashful words were cut off by a slam as the opening to the box shut all of a sudden. He barely had time to blink and wonder about how abrupt that had been when it opened halfway and the man's head poked out once again.
"Also, dunno if this needed to be said, but probably best not to tell anyone I was here, if you can," he said with some urgency. "Not my universe and all, not to mention the whole future business- best left unsaid, I think."
"Right. Quite right," the angel agreed. He hadn't a clue how he would even begin to explain all this if he were to follow through on his previous threat to report it. Doubtful that there was even paperwork for this scenario.
The man gave a nod. "Thanks much for the jump start!" he called as he disappeared into the box once more.
The angel was just wondering what he should do with his hands, if he should simply let the box float on its own to do its thing, when it yet again swung open.
"By the way, I love your hair!" the man grinned. "Great color to it; I'm a bit envious, really!"
"Oh! Erm, thanks!" said the angel, smiling brightly as he accepted the compliment. "I'm rather fond of yours as well, I like the shape of it."
With that, the man gave one final wave to the angel. "Cheers!"
When he vanished into the box this time, it was for good. The angel felt a pulse of energy run through his palm before too long, and the box once again began to wheeze. It was a laborious noise, but nowhere near as sickly as it had sounded before. Just as slowly as it had appeared, it began to vanish, and soon enough was no more.
Slightly stunned, the angel contemplated what had just happened.
It was an odd feeling he was left with. The concept of other universes started to sink in, making him wonder even more about the Almighty's plans for this one. Had They made backups in case the 6000-year shutdown didn't work out?
Beyond that, it did make the angel feel better hearing that, even if it wasn't in this universe, his hard work wouldn't go unnoticed. Someone was out there, in the distant future, bringing people around to see the wonders of the universe. All the more reason, thought the angel, to not just run it all for such a short time and then stop out of the blue! Why create it all without giving them the time to witness it, if that was truly its function after all?
The angel, remembering himself, diminished his perspective once again. As his celestial body expanded, the nebula once again kicked up to high gear, young stars flying about amongst the dust. He gave a pointed flare of his wings, bound and determined to bring this issue up with someone sooner rather than later.
A strong beat of the angel's wings shot him out into the dark matter in a flash of brilliant light, and he sped off to do just that.
Kader had heard about this Star Sending event and thought it was a fantastic idea. He needed a distraction from the most recent event that had happened in his life. Though, it was tricky thinking about things he would truly want.
He began writing on the page, but soon screwed it up. It just wasn’t sounding right. Another attempt. That one ended up near the bin too. A third try.
“Dear Sending Spirit,
My name is Prince Kader Oberon. Thank you so much for gracing me with the opportunity to become a part of this celebration. What an exciting event! I was very much thrilled to hear about it and I definitely need some of that holiday cheer. My sister and I have recently experienced something truly awful and so I wish for this event to hopefully bring us a bit of joy during this tricky time.
Whoever receives this letter may consider this a wish list of sorts. I wish you luck, stranger. The first thing that comes to mind is some new fabric. You see, I just so happen to be a skilled tailor, sewing outfits for myself and others. A Prince needs something to do in this free time! I’d like to make a new dress for my sister. There is an incredibly important event coming very soon and I wish for her to wear something which I know she would love. She prefers yellows and blues but I’m sure I could make any fabric work for her. If you can find a gorgeous dress, that would work too as I could make alterations to fit her size.
Secondly, I’m thinking some gorgeous gemstones would be handy to have. Especially for when I need to add some extra flair to any outfits I make. I’d prefer to have green gemstones as it seems to be a colour I don’t have much of but any colour would work. It’s just be nice to expand my collection of gemstones to be able to use. We don’t really have too much access to different gemstones as the kingdom which mines them can be rather demanding of other resources so trading options are limited.
Next, I would love to grow my flower collection. The royal gardens are one of the most wonderful places to walk through. However, I feel as though there needs some grand flower or plant in the centre to really take it to the next level. Any colour will do as long as it’s grand enough to be consider centrepiece material. Don’t worry about it being a lot of work to look after. The royal gardeners know how to take care of a range of flowers so I have full confidence they will tend to it well.
Finally, if those items are tricky to find, cakes are something I tend to indulge in a lot so I would love to try a dessert from the land which you are from. I am open to any kinds of flavours but the sweeter the better. If you could also provide the recipe as well, I would be most gracious. I’m sure the royal bakers would be delighted to try a new challenge.
Again, thank you ever so much Sending Spirit for the chance to celebrate this wondrous event. And to whoever receives this list, I wish you luck on finding these gifts. Even if it is small, I shall be most thankful for your efforts.
Yours faithfully,
Prince Kader Oberon of the Kingdom of Whimsain.”
The prince put down his feather and looked over his letter again. It seemed good enough. He was happy with what he had thought of and hoped it was clear to any who had received it.
(Notes: Prince Kader would be thankful if any of these were given to him but he’d prefer the first one if possible. He may be less kind to those who give him a gift who are of the dark, ghost and poison types but would still be grateful either way. He’s currently going through a really tough time at the moment so he just needs that special something to help things feel better for him.
Basically the items he wants are:
-fabrics for dress making or a dress (preferably blue or yellow)
-gemstones to put on outfits
-a magnificent flower to become the centrepiece for the royal gardens
-a cake from your homeland (possibly recipe too)
Here’s a reference for Kader:
I think that’s everything!)
Hi! I really liked your post about your favorite siblings in stories. I was curious if you might expand on it--are tehre any other siblings you'd want to talk about?
Hi!
Thank you for the nice words! So, it has been a while since I wrote my fave siblings post. Here are some new siblings' relationships I love!
Ruby and Yang (RWBY)
Tumblr media
Their dynamic has grown on me! Yang and Ruby are sisters, who could never be "just sisters" because of Summer's disappearence.
Yang feels she has to be Ruby's stand-in mom, jump in to protect her and always be emotionally available:
Dream of anything; I'll make it all come true. Everything you need Is all I have for you. I'm forever Always by your side. Whenever you need a friend, Never far behind.
She has to be strong like Summer.
Ruby feels she has to be Yang's hope, to be a perfect Huntress and to always be optimistic:
Past Ruby: That’s right! It’s up to you to make things better, isn’t it? Everything all depends on you! Your sister needs you, your friends need you, the whole world needs you to keep fighting, forever and ever, against an invincible monster that took your mother!
She has to be perfect like Summer.
Basically, they are both trying to be like their mother to the other, even if in different ways:
The petals scatter now Every nightmare just discloses It's your blood that's red like roses And no matter what I do Nothing ever takes the place of you
So, their shared arc is about moving on from this internalized mentality, so that they can become two independent people who still love each other.
Ame and Yuki (Wolf Children)
Tumblr media
I love their siblings yin yang dynamic! Yuki and Amer are very well characterized and have wonderful complementary arcs. They have to choose if to be wolves or humans and of course they come up with different answers.
The best part, though, is that their respective developments lead them to take a path very different from the one you would expect initially.
At the beginning Yuki is energetic and enjoys spending time in her wolf form, while Ame is shy and dislikes moving around. Still, they both find something they wish so much they are willing to change for it.
Yuki craves human companionship and someone who would accept her for who she is. Ame is fascinated by nature and wants someone who would teach him about it. In the end, Yuki chooses society, while Ame the forest. It is this difference, which also leads to their final fight. There they both try to force the other to see things from their perspective. They want the other to make their same choice. Still, this is impossible because they are not the same. They take different paths and separate because this is the only way they can truly be happy. This doesn't mean they love each other or their mother any less.
The Russos siblings! (Wizards of Waverly Place)
Tumblr media
Tbh... they are some of my favourite siblings EVER! And it is a crime I forgot to put them into the list :P Well, time to fix this mistake!
I love Wizards of Waverly Place and that is mostly because of the dynamics among the three siblings (+ Harper, who is a found sister to ALL the Russo kids and not just Alex). In particular, the crux of the series is really Alex and Justin's bond, which is great and my favourite relationship in the story.
Alex is impulsive, a delinquent and an underachiever. Justin is lawful, a star student and a hardworker. Alex is heart, while Justin is mind. They bicker all the time and never get along and yet they love each other and need the other to get their respective happy endings.
Alex learns magic from Justin and grows more responsible and hardworking by observing him. Justin mentors Alex and through her he discovers his true calling, which is to be a teacher. With time, we see this dynamic changing as Justin starts to mess up more and Alex is the one helping out. This is all part of growing up and discovering who you are.
Alex grows smarter, but keeps being motivated by her emotions and big heart (she puts in the effort for the competition, so that she can stay with Mason - an inversion of her Jerry giving up magic for Theresa)
Justin must deal with his hidden feelings. He must face his darkest side, like his jealousy, his pettyness and even how his deep love for someone can lead him astray. He has to accept all this if he wants to keep choosing the right thing
So, Alex realizes she can be more than just Justin's bad little sister and Justin has to face he can't keep building his own identity on being the smart one of his family. That is because all 3 siblings are smart (yes even Max), but go at it in different ways and have different talents.
Throughout the series, their final callings become clear. Alex's is wizardry, Justin's is teaching and Max's is business. All three get what they need and want.
As a cherry on top, Alex and Justin's arcs are foils and inversion of each other at any important step ;)
They have 3 important love interests that follow specific literary themes (Beauty and Beast for Alex and Romeo and Juliet for Justin). They have to learn when to let go and when to fight for the person they love, just in different ways and at different times.
They both fall behind in the wizard competition because they are trying to help people and they both get back in through the other.
In short, Alex and Justin are very well made siblings yin yang (yes by looking at this least you get it... I have a type). To this, you add some very funny sibling rivarly, clever burns and pettiness between them and Max and you get some of my favourite siblings.
Awakening has so many "nothing characters" besides Priam, remember Chrom's father? I still find it funny one of the "Rhea bad" arguments said * Like this isn’t the “good guy blue country” we typically see in a FE game. This is Chrom’s father’s Ylisse. Which I find really hilarious to this day given how much that plot poitn was forgotten with the game entirely vindicating the prejudice against Grima worshippers and even when it was brought up, it was to talk about how Ylisse was the true victim of the crusade.
I'll be honest; I barely remember Chrom's father, or anything he did. FE13's story is already impossible to take seriously in between all the fanservice and time travel silliness and how it's all a clumsily stitched-together riff on the first three games on the series in sequence. Asking me to care about the actions of a character who never so much as appears onscreen (or even has a name?) in a game like that is entirely too much.
Of course, that does play into the broader point about FE's character writing. Like I said in response to the Bernadetta ask earlier today, gimmick character writing is inevitable in games like these, which sit awkwardly between party-based RPGs and large-scale tactical games where most/all of your units are generics. Every FE has a handful of one-note playable characters, and NPCs - or characters only ever represented as generics - are naturally going to be deemed less important by players because that's how the developers are treating them. Conservation of detail: if the author doesn't put time and effort into fleshing out a character/nation/whatever, then it logically follows that that element is not intended to be very important. The hierarchy in FE is mostly clear-cut:
Avatars > other playable characters with plot armor and/or plot relevance > non-plot-relevant PCs > named, unique NPCs who appear onscreen > NPCs who lack one or more of those traits
There's a bit of wiggle room in the middle, if you were, for example, to compare an undeveloped filler unit to the main villain. Apart from though it's a good rule to follow when handling what one might expect from a particular character. Rhea is actually a good example of how this works. Both Fódlan games treat her as more of a multipurpose tool to be brought out whenever necessary than as the impactful major character that she allegedly is. This is in large part because she's an NPC, and doesn't need to be developed in the same way (full support list and multiple endings, battle lines/interactions, activity dialogue) as even goofy bit players like Raphael or Alois. There's a whole bunch of telling and not showing when it comes to Rhea, just like with Chrom's father I suppose.
A corollary to all this is that it's the natural role of transformative fandom to expand underdeveloped and overlooked elements of canon, often in ways that the original writers never conceived or intended. However, as I noted in my discourse video, everyone in transformative fandom has their own priorities when it comes to which parts of canon they believe deserve to be expanded upon - and discourse frequently arises when contradictory desires in fandom spaces come into conflict with one another.
Kimi Ni Todoke Season 3 Episode 1 Review - It's Been 13 Years...
After 13 flipping years, we finally get a season 3 of the best shoujo anime ever (to me that is). 13 years means an entire zodiac cycle plus one had passed. I feel super old. However, I’m glad that it wasn’t a remake or a reboot. It’s a direct continuation! That’s seriously rare these days because shoujo animes usually stop when the couple gets together. We finally get a continuation of Sawakaze’s story after confession! However, what I was most surprised about the release of the new season is that everything was released all at once and that the episodes are an hour long! It feels like watching a movie!
Tumblr media
I’m actually really surprised with the production! The voice actors are the same! The animation is the same as it was 13 years ago. They didn’t modernize anything as well! The time period is still 2011, so they still have flip phones! I’m so glad they didn’t change anything! I wouldn’t know what I would’ve felt if they modernized the cast a bit too much with brighter color palettes and what not. The music is the same too! I can tell they put so much love and effort into keeping things the same! It almost feels like a love letter to long-time fans!
This first episode is just Sawako and Kazehaya getting used to dating each other now. Their date that had been shown in the very last segment of the second season is finally expanded on! It’s basically what was shown in Episode 11 of Season 2, but longer! They do more things together like have drinks together and go to different places. I do like that their first date wasn’t really something impactful like going to a fancy restaurant, but it was just something students can do together. Going to a planetarium seems nice, though. I want to go to one!
Tumblr media
Then, the two go through the process of meeting each other’s family for the first time. It does feel a little fast to meet each other’s family, but I guess it’s better to get it out of the way as soon as possible. Poor Kazehaya had to meet the neighbors and her parents all at once. While it was awkward, Kazehaya enjoyed the experience as he could tell she and her family are well-loved. That’s a good flipping man right there.
It was nice seeing how the Kuronuma parents reacted to Kazehaya. The mom is super chill and supportive while her dad is overprotective. I know that it’s because Sawako never had a boyfriend before so he’s extra protective of her. Like how he was with Chizu and Ayane, he does come around to Kazehaya once he realizes how good of a person he is and how much Sawako likes being around him. I do like that Mr. Kuronuma isn’t extremely overbearing like some anime dads.
Tumblr media
Kazehaya isn’t the only one who gets to have fun; Sawako gets to meet her boyfriend’s family too! Maru meets Sawako again after a long while and he grew to be massive! What breed is he? Kazehaya’s mother seems to be a very friendly lady. She’s a bit strict towards her son, but she’s a good lady. Kazehaya got her face. Touta, Kazehaya’s younger brother, is a bit cheeky, but he’s a good kid. Kazehaya’s dad seems a little strict but he’s also a little quirky in the sense that his imposing appearance isn’t all that he seems. He likes dogs as he was complaining that Kazehaya didn’t bring the dog with him. I do like that his dad wanted Sawako to answer his questions and not have Kazehaya answer them for her. It shows that he wants people to be themselves and be confident and not depend on others. Both Sawako and Kazehaya have such good family.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s something going on with Ayane and Kento. I feel like Kento wants to date Ayane, but I don’t trust him. Ever since he caused problems for the main couple back in Season 2, he’s on my shit list. Stay away from her. There’s a moment with Ryu and Chizu post-credits. Oh gosh, these two are seriously a lot more frustrating to watch than seeing the main couple trying to get together. Ryu and Chizu’s relationship is so complex and complicated. I can’t wait for them to finally get together.
Tumblr media
If there are any gripes, I’d say that I don’t like the opening. It’s not as catchy or memorable as the previous openings. It feels a little generic. Other than that I think that having one hour long episodes really does have a good grasp of grouping specific moments all together and not having to wait weekly. However, I still do miss the weekly formula of waiting for anime. If you have watched the third season, what are your thoughts on the first episode?
TIME FOR THE NEXT BEST CHARACTER AFTER SHINICHI AND KID! THAT'S RIGHT, IT'S HAIBARA!
The next kid to come will become your partner in crime, Shinichi! The relationship between Shinichi and Haibara is one of my favourites of the entire series so I've been so excited for this moment.
Shinichi "what's the big deal about a girl" Kudo. Never beating the allegations. Although I definitely think he's much more compatible with Haibara than he is with Ran. But even more so with KID.
Shinichi has forgotten that black is a common clothing choice for people who like to be criminals but then again, when he thinks he's found a clue for the BO and he's like a bloodhound and he tends to get a little blind. I actually like this flaw though, because for him to be a more genuine character, flaws are needed. He also gets very aggressive too and it's fun to imagine what he could do to others when he is.
I love how he doesn't realise he's speaking out loud too and almost told them all that he's shrunk. He's so careless when the criminal he thinks he's dealing with need him to be on top of his game.
I can't remember but I wonder if the man they are talking about whose body is missing is Akai, I know he left years before Akemi's death but that doesn't mean they stopped hunting him. Plus those who watch the series know that Haibara actually helped Shinichi by changing his records to deceased if the BO ever checked.
It's a shame the Detective Boys never learn from how close they were to being killed.
Haibara is so goddamn cool. AND is also so much better at acting than Shinichi is, she needs to give him lessons.
She also gives him the scare he deserves because he really does like to underestimate the organization.
Another favourite relationship of mine is the paternal one between Agasa and Ai. I love how both Agasa and Shinichi basically become her family.
Don't worry Ai! You have a lots of family out there because Gosho loves to retcon shit!
And Shinichi and Haibara already know how to banter. What did I say, they're very compatible as friends. In fact, I probably enjoy the friendship they share more than the one he shares with Heiji which I love very much.
In fact, when it comes to Shinichi's friendships, it pains me to admit that his and Ran's would be the lowest on the list. Though it's not because I hate it or them, I need to stress that because I know it's a common perception to hate on the female love interest because she's in the way, but because Gosho really puts no effort into their friendship as he does with the others. Much like how they "like" one another, he just has to go "they are friends" and believes we have to accept it. When in reality, what friendship is there is incredibly boring compared to the ones they share with others as he doesn't expand upon it. It's a shame because Ran is supposed to be the closest person to Shinichi but in reality she is far from it.
Haibara already adopting Shinichi's method of exploring cases, touching things she shouldn't. Proud of her.
Oh so now Shinichi doesn't jump to conclusions XD At least he's learned. For this episode.
It hurts to see Haibara cry T-T And also knowing that not being able to save Akemi will be something Shinichi will regret his whole life.
And you'll become the best of friends, Shinichi and Haibara.
Swtor ask game 8,19,24 & 44 for the OC of your choice!
Thank you so much! Still down to take more of these, if anybody would like! <3 [The old list of blorbos is still more or less complete]
[SWTOR OC Asks]
For these, let's go... Alucren, I think! :3
Tumblr media
8. How do they feel about the other faction?
Alucren's a born and raised Imperial having grown up primarily on Dromund Kaas, and someone who has a pretty rigid loyalty to the Empire that raised and made him - for better and often worse. Ultimately, Alucren will never stray from his service to the Empire, even as he does, over time, start to recognize some of its flaws. But it takes a long, long time. We're talking unyielding loyalty to the Empire even through the events of Agent Chapter 2 kind of loyalty - though the agent storyline isn't his primary canon.
So, at the warmest, the Republic is generally a writhing mass of hypocrisy to him. He's not eager to make even temporary alliances with them during periods like the Yavin IV Coalition and his trust for SIS Agent Theron Shan on Rishi gets them no further than is absolutely necessary to stop Revan. I think Alucren barks a lot more than he'll necessarily bite about the numerous horrors of the Republic, but he won't ever really trust them.
And even at his best, years later in the Alliance where common ground becomes a bit easier to find and he starts to do some healing with his own insecurities and flaws (important because he's... a bit of a projector in these things), he could never leave the Empire because it's his home. For better and for worse, it's the place that made him, it's where his family has always been, and he can't turn his back on that, even if he can eventually come to terms with the idea of both sides cooperating towards something a bit more fully resembling galactic peace.
19. Who is their rival?
Alucren I admittedly crafted to be the way he is to be the foil to Tyr that I could never quite fully get Tyr and Hunter to quite click on, and they've since developed quite well in such purposes and it's been a lot of fun to draw the contrasts between them!
In primary versions of my mental version of the old galaxy far, far away then, Alucren is first a fellow Cipher (designated 11) and they don't... really cross paths a lot, given the operation style of Imperial Intelligence and the magnitude of the main Agent story with Tyr as 9. But they end up working more closely together in the brief period where Lana leads Sith Intelligence and they... butt heads. A lot of the frustration between the pair early on is driven mostly from Alucren's side as Tyr is sort of an external rival he can put things such as proving his capability as an operative and even his ideas of what it is to be a man and to be a loyal Imperial servant on - things that Tyr isn't immediately aware that Alucren is essentially projecting onto him.
Over the years they develop a... sort of playfully antagonistic dynamic that does, ultimately, turn into friendship - even friendship with some benefits at times. And getting closer with Tyr and actually coming to understand some of his motivations and drivers is a part of Alucren's own journey of acceptance and identity.
Boys will be boys, if you will.
24. If they could be part of another group, what would it be? You can choice from Old Republic, Expanded Universe, or Cinematic Universe.
If Alucren had had his way, he would've stayed a servant of the Imperial Diplomatic Service with something of a partnership with the Ministry of Propaganda, as its where he served before he was essentially sniped by Imperial Intelligence as the war efforts reheated. Ultimately Alucren does fall in as a sort of individual agent for a friend's Wrath, which I think is... probably the most suitable role for him. Whatever Alucren could be doing, it will be in service to the Empire and very likely specifically the Sith. He never particularly liked or trusted Imperial Intelligence, so the Minister's eventual assessment on Rishi (speaking of plans for Sith Intelligence) of him that a Sith can direct his ambition is probably the most accurate.
Being a Cipher isn't exactly an ideal to him, but... in his own words, his life is his service, and his service is his life. I think he'd feel a little lost without that kind of direction, after so long. If he had to choose, perhaps a step back into roles with the Diplomatic Service wouldn't be so bad, after all. It might be a role better suited to this idea of common ground Tyr finally got through his head after so long.
Though there are some times I do play around in the mental landscape with him in the canon agent story and he's got... an interesting dynamic with Jadus that comes out of it. I may have toyed here or there with the idea of dropping him in the Inquisitor story based on his allegiance to Jadus and the... weird fuckery it does with Force sensitivity in him. Whether it'd remain sheer scheming on Jadus's behalf or turn into a sort of intoxicating power grab that'd eventually have him turn on even Jadus and claim that kind of power for himself? It's still in the idea oven and I'm not sure I'll ever fully explore it, but both are possibilities with Alucren, lol.
44. What was their choices for their “soul” forged weapon? Light, Dark, or Balance? Resilience, Transcendence, or Sacrifice?
I don't actually have Alucren quite this far in the story; he's only recently started Ziost, so... I have yet to see exactly how the Alliance will affect him, but... I think I settled on the idea of playing it as if he were left to his own devices. You may have picked up on something of a theme that it's when Alucren has something of a support network that he discovers some newer things about himself and softens some of his harsher lines for understanding, but... even then I guess you'd say it's more a domestication than a redemption, lol. Alucren's driven and frankly pretty vindictive more often than not.
To pull from some agent spoilers then as a reference point, his choices regarding overriding the initial Castellans were about revenge and transcending limits. Pushing himself further to make sure Ardun Kothe's SIS team paid for trying to manipulate him, for thinking they could ever manage the leash of a loyal hound of the Empire like himself.
And so far, Alucren's impressions of Satele aren't exactly glowing, lol. So he's headstrong and used to strength being used as a test. My guess for how it's going to go then is probably dark, and probably about transcendence. What's a few more broken limits in the name of power? Their enemies are strong, and to win, to have control, he needs to be stronger.
@hexsreality: 😊📺 — 𝐌𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐀𝐒𝐊𝐒
😊 — any career desires?
i'm in a pretty weird place in life atm, so i guess my biggest career desire is just to figure out exactly what i want to keep doing!! (and what will actually pay me 😩) most immediately, i'm hoping to get into a grad program for anthropology (focus in either media ethnography or forensic anthropology), and expand my paper into a much larger research project. i'm also hoping to get more work as a theatrical lighting technician (love me some catwalks) and expand my skillset/job opportunities by beefing up my programming skills and getting in more practical design experience.
long-term, i think i either want to grow my expertise in media ethnography & publish more papers about it, or pursue cold case + natural disaster forensic identification efforts. maybe do a dollop of lighting design. i'm very indecisive and i love many things with equal vigor, i fear.
📺 — favorite movie(s) and/or tv show(s)?
the world's end from edgar wright's cornetto trilogy remains one of my most BELOVED movies of all time. one of the most poignant stories i've ever seen put to film, with the cleanest and most creative narrative cohesion + scenic design + callback pay-off i've ever seen, plus a bitchin' soundtrack that syncs up beautifully with its action sequences. also, dramatic acting from thee simon pegg??? he's BRILLIANT, give him more serious roles i fucking beg of you. i never get tired of that movie. also high up on the list are annihilation, the usual suspects, and mad max fury road.
as for tv shows, i ADORE person of interest with all my heart, i have watched it far too many times and it never gets old. it's what i wrote my conference paper about!!! right behind it are nbc hannibal, westworld, midnight mass, the haunting of hill house, and bones, all of which i could watch on a loop without ever growing bored. i've also been watching a lot of ER lately, which is a great show but does emotionally damage me so bad that i'm currently on a month-long break lmao.
