It’s been over half a year since I did a set of STAR WARS fic recs that weren’t pairing-focused, but I have been reading fic along the way! And sometimes you want fic that’s not about ships, no matter how much you love them, sometimes you just want to read about friendships or you want to read some cool worldbuilding or you only want the plot, and Star Wars fandom has been lovely about that. Hell, sometimes you just want to cry about how much you love the Jedi and you want to share that affection with other people, through the incredible experience of telling stores about them, like they were trying so hard and they were right about so many things and they were dying for years to try to help the galaxy, and teaching about how emotional regulation is good actually, and sometimes you want to show that through the disaster trio and sometimes you want to yell about how good Mace Windu is and sometimes you want to love frog grandpa and sometimes you want to get into a fistfight to defend Luminara’s honor and sometimes you want the whole Order sitting down to a family dinner and sometimes you want fic where Anakin and Mace actually get along and so many other things! Welcome Home by @sonderwalker - A misunderstanding between Obi-Wan and Anakin boils over into a fight where feelings are left unsaid... for a little while that is. Katie's Note: AKA one of my favorite fics of all time. It's a comfort fic for me.

sun child by @rose-blooms-red - sometimes being so tied to the Force causes problems, Obi-Wan helps his Padawan as best he can. Katie's Note: Another one of my favs. I am absolutely fascinated by fics that explore the bounds of Anakin's Force powers and the Force in general. This one's super cool.

A Magnet for Trouble by @hellowkatey - Anakin gets too close to a Sith artifact, and Obi-Wan must figure out how to get his padawan back. Katie's Note: The Halloween vibes in this are amazing. It's such a unique little fic and I love it.

“It’s alright,” Cody soothed. “We’ll figure it out, somehow. It will be okay.”

i have permanent nerve damage on my right kneecap from fucking up a mazurka (very basic figure skating step/half-jump kind of thing) and falling in such a manner that i bashed my knee into the ice w like 3x my body weight behind it in force lmao

lord. i dont really dislike any animals so i guess one i've had personal experience w? i will never ever want an akita (relative had a poodle-akita mix and dear god). they're like the less smart and more evil cousins of huskies.

hot fandom take:

satine and obi-wan would be 200% more interesting if they were some kind of fucked up non-romantic relationship. "i would have left the order for her" we all know the tcw writers just put there bc ppl wanted a blonde woman cardboard cutout love interest for white fans to project onto (as if romance is what "humanizes" characters, huge jerk-off pantomime). "this is duchess satine whom i have an intricately crafted and decades-old rivalry with to see who can pick up the most morosexuals in our personal entourages" the crowd goes wild. satine herself is 200% more interesting when writers allow her to stand on her own and not just as a prop to obi-wan. also ppl who ship obtine are missing out on the most illustrious joy of padme/satine.

Thank you @tessiete for the tag! I’ve done this once before I think but I constantly change my mind about which fics are my favorite so this will probably be different.

1. Revelation

Or as @tessiete likes to call it “Obi-Wan Kenobi: Season Two” hahaha! But yes this is set post-ROTS with a moping Obi who goes on an unexpected journey when he discovers he has a son and then, of course, discovers his true purpose back on Tatooine. It’s really an exploration of the three “sons” in Obi-Wan’s life: Anakin, Korkie (if you subscribe to that theory which this fic does), and Luke. I’m proud of it because I stepped out of my wheelhouse to write it and it also features a sonnet in English & Mando’a which I feel pretty badass about.

2. Anniversary

I wrote this on the anniversary of posting my first fic on AO3 and it’s about Obi-Wan & Anakin marking the anniversary of the first year of their apprenticeship. It’s just an angsty little story that ends with lots of hugs and affirmation of the love between these two.

3. Padawan Mine

A fic I wrote about Anakin’s insecurity about becoming a master & not feeling ready to train Ahsoka. Anakin goes to Yoda and then reluctantly to Obi-Wan looking for affirmation and guidance and ends up seeing his own master in a new light that helps him cope with what he’s feeling.

4. Comfortember 2021

Me indulging my obsession with grieving newly-knighted Obi-Wan and eager-but-awkward baby padawan Anakin. Lots of angst & fluff & hugs & tookas!

5. The Kar’ta Berry

I don’t normally advertise my “other” stuff on Tumblr but in the spirit of letting go of shame and embracing my whole self (also knowing this will prob only be read by the people I tag lol) I’ll plug this one. It’s not for everyone so mind the tags but it’s essentially an Obitine “year on the run” adventure/romance and honestly you could read & enjoy the first chapter even if you’re not into discipline fic.
