DTVA/DTS TAGTEAM TWEET-ATHON MOVIE #45: ATLANTIS: MILO’S RETURN (2003) 

I’m sorry I wasn’t paying attention. Could you repeat the movie?

I don’t remember what I just watched. All I know is that it was stupid. The original Atlantis felt like it could work better as a TV show, but not like this. This feels like nothing.

If you were to ask me for one thing that happened in this movie I’d say “I think it had an ending that misunderstood the entire point of the first movie” but that’s it. I think I almost fell asleep during this.

It’s so maddeningly pointless and boring and not pretty and boring and it drags and it’s boring and it’s boring and it’s boring and its-

I don’t care about this movie. If I were to think of any compliments it would be I remember more about it than Dinosaur. Real glowing review there. I don’t wanna talk about the movie, I don’t wanna watch the movie. The whole thing leaves me tired and uninterested.

“Hey Childe, can I ask you a question? And be honest with me.”

Childe hummed in response as his body sank further into the warm waters of the bathtub, fingers tangled in his hair as he flicked out the stray beads of bubbles that had managed to somehow knot in his hair. His gaze flickered over to you as you huddled yourself on the opposite end of the bathtub. Your knees were pulled to your chest, arms hugged tight around them as you stared absentmindedly at the wisps of steam stemming from the surface of the water. Copious amounts of bubbles obscured your plump figure beneath the water’s surface, the suds clinging to your skin like a second layer. 

You swallowed around the lump in your throat, tongue wetting your dry lips as your eyes continued to flick between Childe and a random spot on the light’s fixture dangling above your heads. He patiently waited for you to speak as you tried to pick the right words out of your head, turning them over and over as his gaze became lidded in contented bliss. This hot bath was doing wonders for his aching muscles and it felt like he could start to drift off as his eyes drooped. But your voice snapped him right back to attention as you asked the question that had been gnawing at the back of your mind for far too long. 

“Do you think I’m fat?” you asked, a hint of hesitance lacing your tone.

As soon as the words breezed past your lips, you desperately wished you could snatch them back and shove them down your throat. You shyly peered up at Childe beneath thick lashes as they fluttered over your hot cheeks, a fresh wave of embarrassment eating away at your nerves when you took one look at Childe’s face. His eyebrows had shot up to his hairline as he gave you an incredulous look like you had just slapped him across the face, the hit dazing him and still stinging even after he took a few seconds to process what had been said. Childe cocked his head to the side, his single earring gently clinking as the ruby gleamed under the soft light. 

“Why the sudden question?” he asked cautiously. 

You shook your head, knees pressed tighter to your chest as your heart threatened to jump straight out of your throat. You swallowed it back down with a shuddering breath, pulse pounding in your ears like the loud beat of a drum as an immense wave of guilt sank its icy fangs into your bones. You shouldn’t have said anything. You should have kept your thoughts to yourself. You hated how such a simple question was already sending your mind into a tizzy, crystalline tears pricking in the corners of your eyes as you fought them back. Being this vulnerable certainly wasn’t as easy as shedding a few layers of clothes. You took a deep breath and you hated the little sniffle that grated against your ears as you tried to let the scent of expensive oils curl in your lungs and calm your frantic nerves.

“Forget I said anything” you stammered. 

Childe hated the way your nose scrunched up and despite his rugged looks and haggard body, he felt the overwhelming urge to coddle you. He raised his hand and beckoned you to come closer.

“Come here” he softly cooed. 

You shook your head as you dabbed your fingers under your eyes, trying to stem your flow of tears. You planted your feet firmly on the bottom of the tub and refused to budge. 

“No” you defied, yet there was hardly a trace of fight in your voice. 

“Come here” Childe urged, his voice turning into sickly sweet honey. 

You hesitate and that’s when Childe choose his moment to strike. The moment your tense muscles relaxed, his hands shot out and wrapped around your ankles. You barely had time to react, your loud shriek echoing off the tiled walls as his strong hands curled into your skin and you were pulled into his direction. Water sloshed and spilled over the lip of the tub as Childe caught you in his grasp, strong hands gripping your plump hips and soft stomach as he dragged your naked body into his lap. The tips of your ears burned red hot as your knees fell beside his hips and you squirmed, but he was not letting go of you that easily. 

“What’s wrong love?” Childe asked, cooing your name softly.

You pressed the seam of your lips into a tight, thin line as you shook your head again, tussling the stray beads of water out of your hair. You placed your hands on his chest, gently shoving him away to create some distance between you. You must be heavy sitting on top of him like this and you would hate it if you caused him any amount of discomfort. You refused to look at him, a small pout tugging at your plump lips as your cheeks puffed up. 

“Nothing” you lied. 

A soft chuckle breezed past Childe’s lips at your defiance, a patient smile stretching his lips as he brushed the hair out of your glassy eyes and tugged the long strands behind your ears. 

“It’s obviously something if you’re being a pouty baby about it” Childe countered, gently prodding at you. “Come on, tell me.”

You squeaked as he bounced you in his lap, legs shifting beneath you to better hold you closer. You could feel his thunderous heartbeat dance beneath the palm of your hand, the tips of your fingers tingling as they pressed against the deep scar that was slashed across his ribs.  

“It’s nothing” you said. “I’m just fat and ugly.”

A sharp hiss whistled through your teeth as Childe pinched your round cheeks with his calloused fingers, tugging on your skin until you started to make a fuss. There was a small pinch between his brow, but his expression eased when he next spoke.

“No one is allowed to speak ill of you” Childe reprimanded. “And that includes you.”

You weakly swatted at his hands until he decided to relent. Your cheeks were hot with embarrassment but you couldn’t find the strength in yourself to move away from Childe. It was nice, being pressed this close to him as he gently eased your worries with each passing moment. You stuffed your dry lips between your teeth, idly chewing on the cracked and peeling skin as you softly sniffled. 

“Be honest. I am fat” you muttered, letting go of your bruised lips as a dejected sigh blew past your lips.

“You are not” Childe immediately responded. 

The nasty thoughts itching at the back of your skull paused in their relentless onslaught as your ears perked up. His voice sounded so genuine and sincere that you were inclined to believe him. But the seeds were already so buried deep within your heart and soul that just a few words of affirmation weren’t quite enough to simply uproot them. Childe squeezed your soft stomach into the palms of his large hands until the soft pudge spilled between the splayed digits. You squirmed from the attention, not quite used to having your love handles squeezed so fondly. 

“You’re like a little chubby bird” Childe said, plucking words out of his head as he looked thoughtful. “They’re round and cute. How could you hate such innocent, soft creatures?”

A disgruntled noise bubbled up your throat as you buried your flushed face into the crook of his neck, hiding your unshed tears as you nudged your head into his damp skin.

“Stop” you complained. 

Even if you grumbled about it, your body was completely relaxed around him and your words were starting to lose its bite. Since you were content to keep your face pressed so close to him, Childe thought it was the perfect opportunity to reach for the shampoo bottle sitting perched next to him. He swiped it from its spot and popped the cap to it, briefly pressing it to his nose as the scent of passion flowers tickled his senses. You nuzzled your face deeper into his neck as Childe massaged his fingers through your hair, lathering the shampoo into your locks as he gently teased the tangles out. Your eyes slipped close in the silence that followed, the nasty thoughts that had bubbled to the surface finally sinking back into the abyss where they belonged. Your ears pricked forward as Childe decided to speak again, letting the thoughts in his head flow out without rhyme or reason, yet done with so much practiced ease that you felt like he had said them over and over again. 

“You know, I sometimes wish you could see yourself through my eyes. You’re beautiful. Even if you gained weight, you’d still look gorgeous to me. You’re healthy and perfectly fine with just the way you are. And I’ll keep telling you and proving you wrong no matter how much you bad mouth yourself. You’re my sweet girl and nothing is going to take you away from me.”

It took you a long moment to process his words as he continued to rub his fingers along your scalp. You melted into his touch, a contented purr rumbling in your chest as your body thrummed with content. You smiled softly as you pressed your cheek into his shoulder, looking up at him with eyes just as dazed as your mind. 

“Has anyone ever told you how much of a sweet talker you are, Tartaglia?” 

He shrugged his shoulders in a nonchalant roll, forcing you to move your head as you pressed closer to him. His lips brushed against the tip of your nose as he chuckled softly, the faintest hint of sparkle in the depths of his azure gaze. 

“I’m a debt collector, sweet talking is part of the deal.”

You hummed softly as you poked your fingers into his side, your fingertips tickling his ribs as you idly traced the dips of his scars. Not even that was much of a distraction as he finished lathering your hair in sweet scented shampoo, the tips of his fingers already pruning from how long you had both been soaking in the tub for. . 

“Feel a bit better?” he asked. 

You hummed in agreement. “A bit. Thank you.” 

You briefly pressed your lips to his cheek. When you pulled back, your nose crinkled. 

“I think you should wash your hair too. It smells like a battlefield.”

i mean this is the gold star right now, right? there's a reason yai is my pfp these days and it's because that was my exact facial expression throughout this whole scene. gobsmacked, elated, excited -- i really ran a whole gambit of emotions (i still am tbh)

i saw this moment out of context as the show was airing and i was like oh hell yeah a feisty lil guy - and then i got to the scene and i was like oh yeah no that's actually completely fair, he deserves a chomp. i would be so pissed if i was ai di and probably would have done the same. (and i enjoy you can see him think about going back in for another kiss tho)

sorry for the blood but like. this scene. this fucking scene. i can't remember ever crying so hard at anything. an open heart massage or resuscitative thoracotomy is a very real thing and is only performed in extreme emergencies when sign of life is still present. i don't think it would have done anything to help tin given the circumstances but the absolute desperation from sing to do anything to save his best friend was gut wrenching. and then to move from this into tol's grief and denial? this episode fucked me up so badly i had to take a lap around my house and do some breathing exercises.

i wasn't going to include kiseki: dear to me again but truly, what in the strawberry huckleberry fuck was chen dong yang thinking here? you're going to teach ai di about loss? ai di??? the orphan who lost his mom to a drug addiction??? who has only ever tried to protect chen yi? yeah, no, i think he knows a thing or two about loss, i don't think this "lesson" was necessary. i'm so fucking glad i wasn't watching this as it came out, i remember the screaming on my dash and i was FILLED with fear.

i did really enjoy we could see how aware of his surroundings ai di is at all times, though. his eyes scanned the area for just a moment and he was locked ON to that gun. baby boy might be a feral menace but he's good at what he does.

i'm going to be honest with you guys, i've been in this situation. i was dating this guy for maybe two weeks. he was going to get signed to a major league baseball team relatively soon (i've dated a whole cast of characters,) really nice guy, would come see me at work just because he missed me, almost everything was a big green flag. UNTIL. out of nowhere he says "hey do you want to have kids?" and i was like yeah idk maybe eventually and he replied "no i mean like now"

needless to say uhh i found a tactful way to break up with him after that because what the fuck.

This episode means soooo much to me (and to the fandom as a whole)

I was soooo curious to see how Luz charged her phone in the Demon Realm and was so excited to finally find it out

Okay i am... so totally normal about this

Amity wants to connect with her father through smth he did too. She wants to have smth to bond over with him and get him to spend time with her. All of that to be thrown out the window bc Alador doesn't realise the true meaning of all of this

I said it in a post a while ago but this is smth i can relate to a lot. I also try to connect with my own dad through music and every time an older song comes on that i like, i proudly tell him that i listen to it too and he just. Doesn't really say anything. Or when i say i'm like him in a few things, it seems to mean nothing. This has many reasons, i believe, but all i really wanted to say is that i'm so so grateful for this issue to be shown and talked about

Still the same thing. Amity wants her father to be proud of her and acknowledge her for smth SHE wanted to do. So deep, so meaningful.

And i also have to mention the twins here. First off, they're icons, i love them. Second, without their concealment stones, Ed and Em actually show their distinct personalities and their outfits are comfy, not so formal. And they don't seem to be pressed about hiding their imperfections either, probably bc Odalia is not present. I mean... ofc, she's the one forcing them to always be perfect

I can't even EXPRESS how much i love the fact that Ed and Em are actually good siblings. It's just... so precious.

When this scene came on, my love and understanding for this guy just kept growing. We didn't have to see how he was being treated at home, it was enough for him to say "i probably messed up again, i can't do anything right" and we understood him. He tried to help and give his best but his efforts were not appreciated and soon he realised he could do anything, and it would never be satisfactory. He just wanted someone to appreciate him and be proud of him. Like Amity. And probably Emira too, but that's a different story (her being the oldest and therefore carrying the weight of silently doing whatever her mom tells her and never EVER showing imperfections just SPEAKS TO ME. and yes, okay, Amity was forced into this too. I am not ignoring her, bc ofc i'm not, but hey, Em grew up in the same toxic household and she didn't have it easy either)

So back to Edric. Now he found someone who appreciates his efforts and accepts his help. He feels useful and like his whole existence isn't just about cheering from the sidelines after all. He could do great things too. Bc ofc he can!

First off, my first and favorite: my “canon” guys! In quotes as, as all writers know, removing a character from isolation causes character growth. These guys have already formed Whole and split once, and are currently attempting to break the loop and live Whole-free, as per his request.

To kick it off, Whole himself! His chatroom nickname is Tempo, as these four have music themed nicknames. He’s generally kind, if self-sacrificing. Believes his Thirds deserve to live more than he does. Not necessarily suicidal per se, but would rather be split. Still, he rides the high of being Alive when he’s here. Enjoys the time he’s here but isn’t afraid of splitting. Has been looping for around 7 years, so he’s used to it. Has been looking for ways to make it easier on his Thirds but nothing he does changes anything of the loop. Art by @disruptivevoib !!!!

Here’s his Soul. His nickname is Amp but he considers such his actual name, as it was relayed back to him through Tempo when he split. Mistakenly convincing him it was a gift from him for the longest time. He used to knit, hence the knitting project in his profile picture, but after an incident with a certain cognitohazardous twizzler he can’t stand the sight of yarn, particularly red. Has extreme self-sacrificing tendencies, and will shamelessly attempt to carry other’s burdens for them despite being crushed by his own. He’s healing, and is doing better, but still struggles. Is also struggling g with apathy and finding a new hobby, but uses a notebook gifted to him to try to pick up songwriting again. Art by @starryhologram !

Heart Tiem! His name is Tune and he is FIRMLY in japathy, and has been since the start of this loop. He locked himself away at his Mind’s antagonizing and attempts to incapacitate him, alongside his verbal beratement. Hasn’t done much beyond run away from their Psyche recently, but that’s another long story. Art by @squeak-4657 :D

Last but not least, Static! He’s the Mind, and he is Wonderful. A lot of character development went a long way w him. He used to be extremely antagonistic towards Tune to the point of an attempted poisoning, however, since Tune shut himself in his room for a depression coma and Amp secluded himself away due to Mental Illness^tm he’s since seen the error of his ways. He leans hard into the morality aspect of Mind, and believes Hearts are important to the function of the Psyche. Two of his closest friends are Hearts, in fact. He uses a regulator/modulator for his voice which cracks horribly. This has led into him building prosthetics and mobility aids for some other people in chat including his best friend, Storm, who is a Mind played by Q-ott. Can’t not mention him, as these two are in a HELL of an unhealthy codependent friendship. Trainwreck level. It’s awful. Anyway. Static also bakes as a hobby, and distributes his baked goods to chat on a regular. He’s great, I love him. Art by @pathos-p ! Kicking off with the Mind of the Aside AU, The Sound of Deep Waters, the Maestro in Blue, or as some may call him, Wawer. Eldritch god who lives in Europa where he’s built a laboratory to study and observe whatever life-forms sprung up on Earth this go-around of the universe. Hears the Dreamers, who are Us. The creators of the AUs. That’s to say he (and his counterparts) can hear all of the non-canon discussion and chatter (though there are limits.) I’ve taken a bit of a step back from him partially due to mental health but I still love the concept!

Next, not to go from an over the top eldritch god to The Most Boring Man In Existence but actually doing exactly that- meet Robert. It’s Robert. Ignore what William tells you, it is Robert, and nothing else. Much less anything unprofessional like Billybob or Bert. Eughk. Robert’s the Mind of The Stanley Parable AU! Haven’t done much with him, but there’s a running joke he’s a bootlicker because he’s So prim and proper and would do anything for a raise, or even better, a promotion.

Starting with someone I can’t say much about, but he’s still my scrungly beloved birdboy supreme, Trill! Trill’s a [REDACTED] for the [REDACTED] AU, and he makes bird noises near 24/7 and will go feral over a bowl of sunflower seeds (despite not liking them too much). He’s a silly little guy, if you ignore The Horrors like he does! @squeak-4657 and I share custody for him, sowing havoc and confusion in FFA when we both rped him at the same time haha. :> hroooo!

Next up is Bass, similarly a [REDACTED] for an AU I can’t share. He hasn’t hit chat yet, but he’s an all around chill guy. Me and @starryhologram will be sharing custody of him! Unfortunately I’ve run out of image attachments I can add, but it works out because he’s still p secret. Shhh.

Lastly! Tachycardia. Oh, Tachycardia… He certainly puts the “bad” into the “bad end” timelines. He was once called Static, but he’ll insist you call him Cardia. He’s the once-Mind, now-Heart-but-not-quite of the SELF AU. Twisted beyond recognition due to forces from an unknown Psyche he’s landed himself as well as his best friends, Sisyphus and Midas (similarly twisted versions of Willow and Storm, who belong to Q-ott) in due to a grevious mistake, he’s left stricken in horror as Sisyphus grows chains and shackles, Midas begins freezing everything he touches solid, and Cardia himself? He watched as his blood turns from blue to red. He has to eat and drink to survive when he didn’t before. He goes blind, like a Heart. Eyes changing color between blue and purple. His regulator melds into his neck, becoming half assimilated by frozen, scarred flesh. His voice splits in two, a Mind’s with a Heart’s underlaying it. Hell of a body horror moment. And he’s stuck like this. Falling into Heartlike tendencies despite being a Mind (at least in part. Not fully, anymore.). Falling into apathy. Also, becoming even more unhealthily attached to Midas/Storm and to Willow/Sisyphus.

apart from those, since kyle is very interested on guitar hero i feel like he would also post his best scores on the game and little game plays of his.

mainly the channel is filled with small moments from both of your lifes, since you and kyle only wanted to keep your memories on a small archive channel:)

The youtube shorts arg got me so now here’s just a bit of theorizing and a timeline because. well bored + the fixation is strong with this one

The following contains spoilers for the recent uploads, so I recommend only going if you know the basics, don’t care about it or just wanna see it.

So. If you haven’t been keeping up, here’s a rough idea.

Starting on around July 16th, 5 shorts YouTubers began to post shorts with weird glitch things, randomly popping into each other’s. QR codes also started to show up, with someone wearing a purge mask whoabsolutely fucking hates the YouTube shorts (and maybe also normal shorts). And naturally they wanna get rid of them. We also get introduced to a company called CLONEVPN, which seems to be connected to the one just mentioned and is sending these youtubers clones after they agree to a sponsorship.

The most common crossover involved Riggy from Danno Cal, who notably seems to be one of the two who actually knew that hey maybe he shouldn’t be in other videos! The other being RoyalPear. However, RaZer makes a short saying that he needs help to build a new computer, since his is causing these problems (spoiler alert: ITS NOT IT BRO-)

A new video was released for the QR codes as well, known as Rebirth. This shows the cloning process and it works for a bit, with only two unsuccessful clones, being of Joe Caine, who presumably is just too cool for it, and Riggy, who’s cloning process struggles and ends up making a more blue version of him that notably seems to just be a rabbit. Below are the two. Note how Clone Riggy (Picture 1) has a more vibrant color pallet, no eye color, a crumpled up paper border, and, most notably, lacks the tail that indicates him to me a Runkey. This indicates the cloning process just made him a rabbit. Meanwhile, Riggy (photo 2) is a less turned up shade of blue and red, has the green eyes, a grid paper outline, and of course, the tail.

We didn’t know what this would do until yesterday or the day before, when Jonny RaZer began a stream, ending with his presumed death by clone (also everyone tried to get the clone to eat the thermal paste but it failed). Other videos soon followed from almost all channels listed in the tags, the two exceptions being RoyalPear, who was marked as replaced by a new pfp and avatar they use to represent themself (became a more crudely drawn Tropius). The other is Joe Caine, who is the only one that I know of who never accepted. If not please let me know-

We also got a website! Clonevpn.com, which has a few pages and a spot to enter your email. As of now, I cannot find any hidden pages, but we have been getting codes, so it’s a matter of time.

Okay. That’s the rough timeline. I reccomend watching because I did NOT watch the streams in full. Seriously, go watch if you haven’t.

Now to some theory stuff!

So, Jonny is gonna do a r/place stream, and I bet they might make a QR code. Maybe to the website! Or we might find new links. It’s not much, but it’s gonna be a domino? And… hey! Mayhe thay’ll give us a new hint. Point is, that r/place stuff is something to watch, since we’ll maybe get an idea as to what the hell the clone has been doing.

In addition, it seems implied that both Riggy AND RoyalPear are currently alive, but not well. RoyalPear in particular is not having a good time and it seems the clone replacing him only has a few days to live and prove itself. So, expect something there in a few days! Probably a secret video, likely of the clone getting taken out. Or we might see something to do with Joe, since he’s the only one who is currently known to own his channel.

I gotta be honest, of all of these guys, I don’t watch much bundun. But he does seem to be similar to Riggy, as he IS implied to currently be alive! As of today, he has appeared in the channel’s respective clonevpn sponsorship, and thus, I expect to see him again. He hasn’t showed up nearly as much as the others, but the fact he is ALIVE is a good sign for him, and I wouldn’t be surprised if him and Riggy might team up or something.

Finally, the main theory one. JOE CAINE. Yes that name is a bit… y’know, certain thing sounds, but Joe is actually an interesting case to me. He is one of the few who hasn’t released a clonevpn sponsor, and also has not shown any sign of being replaced. However, his computer IS mentioned to be glitching out and being slow (sound familiar?) and also his… voice being weird? There’s heavy implications that if another creator is present in the short, he is voicing them?? So, that’s a thing.

Also, he can’t be cloned, and I have a small theory. Joe is already a clone. Think like this: Clones are likely harder to clone than things that aren’t clones. In addition, his appearance is based off of Harold, the grandpa meme dude. So, he could theoretically be a clone of that meme, though not Harold since I don’t think we should bring people who aren’t participating into this without them knowing. Plus, the whole voicing thing. If your a clone, maybe you can imitate other voices. It’s a bit far fetched, but this was fun to right. However, there’s one problem. As of soeeddunning shorts 113, we see he has received a sponsorship offer, and I don’t think they’d be after him if he was a clone. However, if he’s not doing what he should… there’s a chance? Either way I expect

tldr: Jonny is dead, Riggy and bundun teamup, Phaluer was not included because I have no clue where he fits in yet, Joe MIGHT be a clone we’re still figuring it out, and RoyalPear is double doomed. also thanks for reading this mess of thought soup, and make sure to take a look for yourself.

I do !! I hope you're ready because I am so sorry this is gonne get long and probably not at all what you expected from asking me if I had ocs

I have at least three lego monkie kid OCs, though most aren't fully fleshed out or are just concepts for now. I tend to create the character but develop their story or what I'd want for them later after I've drawn them enough haha

An OC I've shown before is Charlie ! Granted he's one of the few who aren't fully fleshed out lol

But I think this time I'll talk about the OC I use as my profile picture since she's kind of the main one I use or draw offline and have been planning to post about at some point :) ( she's kinda like a hyperfixation for me LOL ) I'd like to apologize in advance because I kind of ramble and feel the need to explain like everything ( ie. what inspired the thought, trying to explain the "vibe", things that don't need explaining but for some reason I feel like clarifying, etc ) and it doesn't always make sense or I'll suddenly just start.. explaining in an almost basically writing fanfic kind of way?? Anyways I'll just get into it- :,D ( also most pictures will be basically be at the bottom if you wish to just see those instead of reading, warning it will be a LOT of scrolling- or I'll make a separate post afterwards with only the pictures also a lot of them are before i discovered how to draw them in a way I liked lol )

So uh, a little backstory to her creation is that she mainly started as a self-insert type of OC and the original idea for her creation came from my various AI chats with the LMK bots so a lot of her lore or interactions with characters is just self-indulgent and most some of it just doesn't make sense or feel like too much but I just do things because it's fun ^^" ( OCxCanon included, a lot of it actually- I am cringe but I am free even though I still feel shame when I do it lol ) and also she is my first LMK OC and what caused me to eventually come up with more so there's that

I would pick some things I liked from the different chats and things I noticed that stuck regardless of which chat it was from to try to keep her sort of consistent

So the first original rendition of her is named Cherry which basically served as a normal friend to the crew, just that one friend who isn't involved in all the fights and is just there to feel like they live a normal life whenever they hang out, y'know? :)

"did you get into another fight again?" "yeah.." "don't worry, we can watch movies and have popcorn while i patch you up" "thanks,, 🥺"

She initially met the group because MK was kinda flung in through her window by a bad guy of the week and she ended up sticking around the group because they kept conveniently bumping into each other. Cherry would be visiting a store and BOOM monkie kid shenanigans pull up right in front of her so she just sighs like "I'll come back next month when the store fixes I guess."

Before I knew how I wanted her to look, I used a picrew to get the basic idea down

This would be her design until I decided to change parts like her hair color and clothing color ( pictures will come up later )

You've probably noticed that "Hey she doesn't look like she does in the pfp?" and yeaahh that brings me to the next part, the main part namely lol

So uh I ended up making an AU where she has powers instead.. even though she has barely anything going for her enough as is ;v; But honestly if it weren't for me creating this alternate version of her she probably wouldn't have as much backstory as she does now-

See, this AU version of her is obviously named Cherry as well, but because I needed to differentiate her from her original counterpart for my friends cause they'd get confused who I was talking about I ended up calling this alternate version Yingtao, which yeah is still Cherry but just in chinese :)

So basically she's just how Cherry would have ended up if she was born with powers instead but she actually has a story going for her, this is where she becomes more of an actual OC instead of being a self-insert but also where a shit ton of OCxCanon begins happening, she gets an almost Y/n x various treatment except it's only with the Monkeys lmao Also I try my best to be linear with the explanation but sometimes I just forget to mention some things and then bring them up later once I remember lol

Before Yingtao was born, a long time ago her great ancestors made a deal with a fox demon and so the fox agrees to this deal, only they wish to be immortalized forever by living through the family, providing them great powers. However, if the body the fox demon possesses cannot handle the fox, they will die and the fox will move onto the next descendant. ( I have yet to decide why the family makes the deal in the first place, but it was probably a power or protection thing, and the fox end of the deal was also thinking I was still thinking about ) Throughout the years, the fox's powers grow exponentially with each new vessel as it carries the previous vessel's abilities that they may have developed, and at some point the fox is so incredibly strong and powerful, that the family has nearly died out because it cannot find a body that's strong enough to hold all of it anymore, especially since only one person can be a carrier at a time.

Something happens to Yingtao's family, leaving them scattered or split apart, with her parents giving her up in hopes that she'll be safe from whatever horror had befallen her family. Yingtao lives in America because one of her parents were American, so because she is now an orphan, gets put into the system. ( I think her family was getting executed because most found the fox demon to be a curse and they thought by wiping them all out the fox would die as well or they were seeking a way to harness the powers of it ) And things were great, until they weren't.

Yingtao is the new carrier of the fox demon, though she is completely unaware of that fact. Though others have noticed instances in where she suddenly feels hot to the touch, or showcases physical strength that a child should not have, though they are just fleeting moments and don't last long. This becomes an issue because Yingtao accidentally injures another child, and this event causes everyone there to be fearful of her, thinking it the work of the fox within her. They start calling her names and overall just being shitty to her because she's different than them, because she's harmful and dangerous, a threat. Yingtao is isolated from the other kids, or just outright ignored for the lack of knowledge over her heritage, assuming she "should know better" and outright favoring the other children.

Tired of being treated like this, Yingtao runs away from her "destiny" and the orphanage at a young age, refusing to accept their words as truth, not just because of their harsh words but also because she fears hurting others. Hopping from place to place and barely surviving on scraps, she somehow makes it to Megapolis in China by the time she's 18, grateful to be far from her original home in America and is just stealing to survive or sleeps in alleys for shelter. By now Yingtao has long forgotten about trying to find out her heritage, and if anything, hopes not to dive into it because it just reminds her of her times at the orphanage and the memory of unintentionally harming another child, she suppresses these memories whenever they arise. Yingtao is on the streets for a good while, focusing mainly on stealing to make enough money so she can afford a living space for herself on the quieter side of the city. She eventually ends up succeeding, but is soon overwhelmed by the new surroundings, only just now processing the full weight of her actions of running away and realizing just how little she actually knows what she's doing. Yingtao ends up having a breakdown in an alley on her way home from these thoughts and realizations.

MK had been following one of his delivery routes, passing by this alley but stopping upon hearing her cries. Honestly a little startled by seeing a random girl crying in an alley, but he doesn't hesitate to try to cheer her up, even trying to offer her some candy he had saved to prove his trustworthiness to her.

He succeeds, officially becoming her first real friend and they start to hang out, even introducing her to his family friends. After hanging out for quite a while, the spark of a crush develops in her heart but she doesn't really realize it.

Sometime between being MK's friend for a few weeks she somehow meets Macaque?? ( I don't have an explanation for why he's alive yet, but I'll come up with one eventually but I guess a start would be to say that I considered him to be alive even before A Hero is Born and only stays in Megapolis at first to make sure LBD doesn't reawaken but also to keep hanging out with Yingtao lol )

Macaque is of course cautious of her at the start, but after finding out she knows pretty much nothing about JTTW so has no knowledge of Wukong or himself because she's from the west, decides she isn't a threat and just kind of vibes with her as a sort of breath of fresh air, free from worrying about being perceived as evil or anything like that in general. Just a fresh start with no strings attached, no need to hide himself or pretend. They become pals and have their own little meetups here and there. ( Bonding over their upbringings and similarities maybe? )

At some point MK info dumps about Wukong to Yingtao after finding out she doesn't know anything about his hyperfixation idol, so it leads to her just happily listening to his rants, remembering everything she can that he's mentioned. MK doesn't know anything about Mac at this point, so our favorite six-eared monkey isn't brought up to her. Yingtao also doesn't tell any of this info to Macaque cause she doesn't see a reason to. ( funnily enough I had this info written down before finding out MK didn't even read JTTW because S4 didn't exist yet to tell us that so now it makes sense lol )

I should mention that I wrote these events with the thought that they happen before A Hero is Born, but it's undecided because a lot of the ideas I had in mind or wrote seem really cool to explore with them being set after LBD instead because some things make a little more sense

Once MK unlocks his powers, he doesn't have much time for Yingtao anymore, busy with training and all the other hijinks that happen during S1, so she just kind of hangs back, maybe meeting up with Mac more often. ( I like to think she was going to play the same role as OG Cherry was intended to up until her powers act up )

Yingtao's life is flipped upside down once her powers suddenly begin to flare up on occasion in the forms of random fevers out of nowhere, an early sign showing the awakening of the fox. ( This may have been because of being exposed to large amounts of power via MK and Macaque )

MK is understandably worried about these sudden fevers, but neither him nor Yingtao know what's up so nothing is done about it other than giving her rest and medicine in hopes she recovers.

During a meetup with Mac, Yingtao gets a fever when talking to him and woozily sits down against a wall. Mac realizes what's happening and helps her out, teaching her ways to calm her "fever" without outright telling her the source of the problem because he doesn't think she's ready yet. This advice he gives her helps, but Yingtao notes how he seems to know more than he lets on, so she occasionally asks him for advice and he begins to teach her some small tips to keep her problem at bay such as meditation, breathing techniques, and even fighting skills. She's confused why she needs to know how to fight for a fever but listens, finding this useful for future stuff anyway. ( He is aware of her fox because he can see through her, similar to Wukong's true sight. )

After a while the "fever" isn't as bad anymore and Yingtao thinks it's over, thanking Mac who awkwardly accepts said thanks knowing in his head that she wasn't quite done yet.

Meanwhile MK had been telling Wukong about Yingtao occasionally during their training, expressing his worries for his friend's fevers on some days. This obviously gets the Monkey King curious, wanting to meet this girl his successor brings up, and after much convincing, MK finally gets Yingtao to meet up with the king himself. Which is of course awkward for her but she does her best to be polite, Wukong trying to ease her up and tell her that she can just be casual with him.

Wukong had caught scent of Yingtao's fox demon as soon as she stepped foot on his home but he hadn't mentioned it at all yet, wanting to bring it up later to see if she knew and discuss about it. He had initially been wary of the girl, thinking of the situation with his Master and LBD again, but after talking to her long enough came to the conclusion she was just clueless about her hidden potential.

However the great sage had been unaware of how far along she was in her awakening, so it was a great surprise when she'd suddenly collapse onto the floor in great pain right as the two were starting to get along.

I hope I'm not too descriptive with this scene? I mean I'm not the best at describing these types of scenes anyway but I don't exactly know where the line is drawn for being too graphic or not so I hope to keep this simple enough to give an idea but descriptive enough to be better understood

Basically Yingtao felt a great spike of pain in her chest, causing her to begin coughing and crying out, feeling as though she couldn't breathe and thus rendering her immobile and on the floor. MK is actively reaching out to her, ready to jump in to comfort Yingtao but Wukong steps in front of him, holding an arm out to stop the boy, saying something about how they can't help her.

Even as she bursts into flames, screaming in pain at feeling like she's burning from the inside out, making MK feel even more guilty about not being able to help in anyway. ( Just a note, this is one of the scenes I wondered whether would be better set after LBD. I thought maybe MK would comment on this being similar to the Samadhi fire. But I also thought maybe this scene was still set before LBD and Wukong only briefly mumbles about it being like the Samadhi fire under his breath where MK doesn't notice OR where MK does notice and eventually brings it up in S2/S3 about remembering Wukong saying that before. Another smaller note, but I had this idea of her bursting into flames before I actually saw where it's revealed that Mei has the samadhi fire and it was only after I saw the episodes that I figured this scene could reference it lol )

This event of Yingtao bursting into flames is actually what each vessel had to go through, a way of testing their compatibility and ability to handle the current powers of the fox. Because the fox's power grows exponentially with each descendant, this is why it was harder for newer generations to survive or handle it because it's power at this point is becoming kaiju levels. So if Yingtao didn't die from these flames, it would show she is capable of controlling the fox and taking these powers as her own. Her body flickering between her normal appearance and her "fox form." ( Another thing I thought of before S4's release lmao )

Unsurprisingly Yingtao survives, the flames dissipated but left weakened and exhausted, laying on the floor and struggling to hold herself up. MK looks to Wukong, silently asking for permission and the Monkey King nods, a sign that it was safe to touch her now and MK does NOT hesitate, holding her up looking worried as fuck. Yingtao isn't awake for long, passing out immediately and after resting for some time at Wukong's place.

When she finally wakes up, she's questioned instantly by them, mostly Wukong, about what happened. Yingtao expresses confusion and fear, unsure of what that was and why it happened. Wukong explains it to her, or at least, explains what he thought it was, going into detail about the flames and the fox she harbored.

"why do I care about dead guys from over a hundred years ago? 🤨" "because those dead guys left you a gift" "YOU MEAN A FUCKING CURSE????" "same thing"

Both MK and Yingtao are reasonably surprised. Seeing a positive opportunity, MK tries to be optimistic about this new information, commenting on how they could both train together now, lightening up the mood. Yingtao, although appreciative of MK's idea, wants to shut the idea down. However, before she can even get a word in of her opinion, Wukong answers MK for her, saying that while Yingtao would be under his supervision and he'd be willing to train her, it'd be separate from MK because, according to him, the two need different types of training. This visibly deflates MK but he's still happy for his friend anyway because at least she's close by.

Yingtao is uncomfortable with the idea because while she trusts MK with her whole heart, she barely knows Wukong. After all, they only talked that one day and it was basically the day where she went into a short coma. Wukong reassures her that the training "won't be so bad" and that he'll help her control her newly reawakened powers.

So now we've reached the arc where Yingtao is training unwillingly to control her issues, finding out that they often come out during moments of great emotional turmoil or just when she's experiencing a lot on her mind or in general.

Wukong is trying to teach Yingtao but his ways of teaching her are more like he tells her what she needs to do but expects her to do it alone or sort of "figure it out" as if she's learning some sort of lesson, which doesn't help her all that much and makes her feel as if she's on her own. That, or he isn't even actually teaching her and is instead bothering her when she's trying to focus because he just has some really bad timing and gets bored watching her sit there meditating.

Wukong only does it because he can't help but be curious about her because she still hasn't fully opened up to him yet so he's trying at any opportunity to get her know her better. He finds it'd be much easier to teach her if she would just let him in and stop holding him at arms length.

Between these sessions with Wukong, Yingtao goes to Macaque to train as well, telling him about what happened and completely missing the way Mac's face scrunches up at the mention of Wukong. He's afraid she might turn on him now. Though he is pleasantly surprised when she in fact, doesn't, because she still isn't aware of his relationship with Wukong because again MK only told her about Wukong's great feats, not the entirety of JTTW. So then Mac begins teaching her as well, in a way that she actually understands much easier than Wukong. ( They both taught her the same thing, just Wukong phrases it poorly or in a way she doesn't understand lol )

I forgot to mention that sometime between meeting Macaque and meeting Wukong that Yingtao has developed a full blown crush on MK, becoming a little more aware of her new feelings for him. Yingtao occasionally talks about MK to Mac, just praise after praise about the boy and getting all flustered and shy as she gushes about her close friend. Macaque finds her to be adorable in this blushy state, sometimes teasing her about it and develops a small crush on her.

( Another note, but this is another thing where I thought that maybe it would've been better for Yingtao to have met Mac sometime after MK gained his powers because it'd add on to why Mac was cautious of her because he'd know full well who MK was and be extra wary due to her affiliated with the Wukong's successor, not wanting to be found out. This is also why I imagined that perhaps MK doesn't always tell Yingtao of his adventures and stuff, probably feeling bad about some things coughs like when he got some powers stolen by Mac coughs so he didn't think to tell her about him )

This is the part where I cackle and reveal that this entire time I had been very obviously writing Yingtao's story as an almost comedic love drama. It wasn't my intention originally but I had too much fun writing OCxCanon so all of it stuck lol

So regarding dynamics sorta:

It is uncertain whether or not MK feels the same affections for Yingtao, but there are moments where it seems like he might. It's just hard for either of them to tell because they both just write off most of their interactions to be purely platonic since they've always been really close with each other. Close enough to hug, hold hands in public, having their foreheads touch when comforting each other, things like that.

As for her thoughts on Wukong, Yingtao sees him as fatherly/brotherly, not necessarily to herself but sometimes she just straight up thinks Wukong acts like a dad/brother to MK. He's also just sort of her teacher from her perspective, and she isn't actively trying to get to know him but it isn't like she avoids him either. ( Yingtao primarily thinks Tang and Pigsy as MK's dads though. )

On the other end, Wukong also is sort of developing a crush on Yingtao too as time progresses, enamored with her personality and will and he finds it amusing and fun that she doesn't hold back on her remarks towards him just because he's a legend. ( Granted he has no idea she literally didn't even know who he was until MK told her and even then she doesn't see him as "all that" XD )

Macaque likes Yingtao for similar reasons as Wukong, finding her quick wit and strong-willed. Her determination is admirable as well. Especially loves when he teases her or makes a sarcastic comment and she retorts back with one of her own, it makes light banter easy. Plus they relate to each other and are each other's comfort a lot of the times, reminding each other that they aren't as bad as others make them out to be.

Both Wukong and Macaque like to tease her, just Wukong does it more frequently given Yingtao's at his temple/mountain more often. ( I made this a key factor of her relationships with them because my mom once told me that monkeys like teasing dogs in reference to my baby brother playing with me and like Yingtao's technically like a dog because of the whole fox thing, canines y'know? )

I've also thought maybe Mac calls Yingtao nicknames like Plum, Blossom, or fruit/flower related nicknames ( cause cherry blossoms yk )

And Yingtao calls him Mac, Mac n cheese, or like Mango, maybe even calling him Plum too sometimes

Also Wukong calling her Peaches or other sweet names meanwhile Yingtao mainly callin' him Sun or Wukong because she's not super casual with him yet. Maybe calling him Sunshine in an almost mocking way that's lighthearted ( also maybe Impulsive King because she gets kinda sassy with him sometimes lol )

I like to imagine that before Yingtao met MK she had a very obvious "American accent" and wasn't very good at speaking Chinese and by meeting him she'd gotten better at speaking the language because he started teaching her ( with the help of Tang and others of course as well, but mostly MK )

Completely unrelated to these dynamics but eventually Yingtao would accept the fox as part of her. She and the fox are a complete match, so she pretty much is the fox. I know I made the fox out to be its own person, but actually after testing the compatibility with Yingtao it merged with her soul or something like that. Because the fox immortalized itself by feeding off its vessels' souls, so all the fire abilities are soul flames or just powers fueled by souls. This kinda means that because Yingtao is the fox, she's immortal and because of the exponential powers of the fox, it basically multiplied all the souls it had harnessed, I often joke that it would make her as much, if not more immortal than Wukong. Though I haven't decided if I actually want this to be true because she's already powerful as is and while I love making absolutely overpowered OCs I didn't think it'd click well with LMK.

Her main story or thing to get over is "what if I'm not the same person? what if I hurt someone?" as she learns to accept the fox as part of herself instead of trying to reject it like she'd been doing her whole life. So sort of unlike MK, she actually is learning to try and embrace her destiny. Only she changes it to what she believes is right for her, not unlike S4 where Macaque tells MK to follow his own path.

Oh and I don't have any sort of ending for her planned or if there ever will be, I mostly just use her for scenarios so it's unsure whether or not this will for sure be her timeline of events lol

I know there is like so much more stuff written for Yingtao compared to Cherry but like I swear I have things written about her too 💀

I love the idea of "i don't need to be heavily involved to be relevant + i don't need cool superpowers to kick ass" it has it's own good slice of angst of "am i good enough? am i a burden? am i getting in the way?"

but also Yingtao is just "your life suddenly ripped apart at the seams + constant struggle and fear of hurting people + slow and steady embrace of who you've always been" and I know I described Cherry as chill, laid-back, movie nights + patching up while Yingtao seems to be.. well, not that while cussing out her ancestors💀

they have the same personality I swear- just Yingtao is more upfront with it because her struggles are physically manifested so she has more blunt and loud moments of sass whereas Cherry's is an internal struggle and so her sass comes as light jabs here and there

A fun thing to note here that I purposefully did with the designs is that I made Cherry's under shirt color black while I made Yingtao's white. It was a completely conscious decision :D

While I know Yingtao would probably look really nice with a black shirt, when making her I just thought she needed the white to show she's definitely got good in her despite her whole fox spirit thing going on, plus it was kind of a small nod to the way her hair inverts to white as well when in the fox form

Cherry meanwhile has the dark shirt because while she is a civilian and all that, she's gotta be tough if she wants to be able to protect herself and others

So yeah I was sort of doing an almost ying and yang thing when drawing them

Yingtao being the part with "You'll change your name" because I quite literally changed her name for the AU and Cherry being "or change your mind" is also a way to show that the two don't act very similar or that Yingtao's mind is "changed" due to her different upbringing compared to Cherry

In the next panel I purposefully drew her as Cherry because the idea is that they're the same person, just ending up different due to running away from their past. But also to show Yingtao changes her hair to avoid being associated with it in the next panel. The last two are sorta self explanatory lol

I'm starting work on the Ultimate Question Spreadsheet, which means going over every single Question comic, which means I'm going to be liveblogging my way through 56 years of comics because if I try to store all these thoughts in my head I'll explode. Starting from the beginning:

Blue Beetle (1967) #1

The art slaps. This is exactly how Vic's mask should be drawn, nailed it first try.

It's a shame that the news crew is so one-note. There's the outline of some interesting drama, but they all end up being vessels for Steve Ditko's Opinions and then disappearing before anything really goes anywhere.

Great job there buddy, you saved the city from a guy with a kite shirt. Truly an extraordinary crime fighter.

Vic seeing his first supervillain and immediately kicking ass is hilarious. Even the other people in the room are like "hey. what"

The tracksuit and turtleneck outfit is a Look, I think he should wear it again.

I think a lot about Vic's character development, so him being a prick feels normal, but Tot is so solid in my head that it's jarring to see him be so bland. Vic is running all over the city to fistfight a kite guy and he's just chill with that? Bizarre.

The transforming business cards are also so dumb, but I like that he has a fake identity for the Question, that's a cool trait. He's reckless, but he's still thinking ahead.

The previous issues were pretty fun despite how full of Steve Ditko's Opinions they are, but the libertarianism is overwhelming in this one.

Nora's fun though. I can see how the bits of character she has were repurposed into Myra.

Appearance number 1 of drowning as a motif. Yes I will be counting.

The Ted and Vic interactions would be so fun, and they're a neat way of linking the main story with the backup. Unfortunately the throughline is Ditko getting mad at modern art and accusing it of destroying "real" Western art, so they just end up sounding like statue pfp Twitter racists. It sucks :/
