For the purposes of this poll, "model nuclear household" means one family living together that consists of a mother, a father, and their biological child(ren), and no one else. No half siblings, adopted or foster kids, no other adults living in the same home. The biological parents are the only adults who directly parent the children, and the parents are together, and both alive and present (not in jail, etc).

I grew up reading Young Wizards, but never really did much reading as an adult (life, family, job, other hobbies, you know how it is.) So I never knew your husband as a novelist

I found your blog on here one day, and of course in a moment of nostalgic joy started following you

The next day, some guy named Peter Morwood started following my blog, scrolling far, far back in it to like and reblog every picture and video involving a cat. I googled the name out of curiosity to find out who he was: Diane Duane's husband, and by the way also a very accomplished author in his own right

From then on, every now and then, I'd see his name in my notes on posts involving cats. No comments, we never spoke, just a like or a reblog on the occaisional cat post

So that was who your husband was to a random internet stranger. I thought you might like to know that

...I would catch him in the middle of doing things like this sometimes, when I'd wander into his office to bring him something or ask him something. He was always deeply interested in the people who followed him, and always equally interested in the ones he followed back. He would routinely wander a good ways down in any given person's posting history before choosing to follow.

"It's always great to see what normal people are up to," he said to me one time. And I understood him completely. Because from where we'd routinely be sitting—in the middle of a most weird, stressy and abnormal-seeming lifestyle—other Tumblr folks would often seem like sweet paragons of ease, peace and normalcy. :)

The First Light Of Hope.

I’ve been going through a lot of rough stuff in my home life as of late, which is why I hardly have time to post on any of my socials. But as of late I’ve made some amazing friends who are willing to help me, and I couldn’t be more lucky then I am right now.

I made this as a way to portray the hope I felt when my world was shrouded in darkness, that a single light of hope was able to illuminate that despair and drive me forward with the knowledge I could be free. Someday I will be free. And someday, I WILL break my chains and embrace the light.

Scandal and outrage! I've taken up helping with the chores at home.

Mr. Nisilë is perennially behind on laundry and stressed out by it. So I thought -- would it really be such an inconvenience for me to fold and put away 10 items of laundry every a day, and unload 10 items from the dishwasher? That way, we can gradually chip away at the permanently full basket of clean laundry and the dishwasher that's permanently full of clean dishes, and I can unburden Mr. Nisilë a bit. I've done it three days in a row now, and it's already made a noticeable difference.
