Steve wears a soft cloth uniform bc he has to try to appear soft and malleable (in order to be war propoganda) even tho he is so angry and frustrated and sharp that it cuts.

Tony wears a hard cold robot metal shell bc he has to appear cold and calculating in order to keep up the businessman/playboy/fearless persona, in order to not be classified as unstable, even though he is fucking falling apart at the seams and a mess
