I’m wondering (and not sure if this has been talked about yet in a post I simply missed) about how Abram copes with Andrew’s physical affections (or lack thereof) in your lovely royal AU. With the history behind ‘pretty’ that you described for Abram in that last post, I feel like there is so much potential of him expecting to be touched, even before they are courting (but especially during/after), and wondering why Andrew doesn’t—especially once it’s established that he thinks of Abram as ‘pretty’. They are of different station so it would be so easy for Andrew to act entitled to Abram’s body like so many before, especially with Abram in a position where he’s basically serving him in some way. I wonder if it makes him relieved (due to professionalism/personal comfort at the very beginning) or anxious (due to having no ability to tell what is coming for him/later due to doubting if he is really wanted that way if Andrew doesn’t act the same as his point of reference) or a little bit of both for different reasons.

I imagine Andrew to be both a very tactile person and not necessarily so because he is so very aware of boundaries and only crosses them with invitation or purpose. I wonder how that translates here and how his touch plays into how Abram perceives him (and honestly there’s the whole part too where it’s something they have in common, trampled boundaries and bad associations and bone-deep understanding of such) or if they would ever have a conversation about that where Abram wonders about the curtesy of distance and space he is being given.

I’m like two seconds from passing out bc it’s pretty late here so idk how much sense this ask really makes but I’m having thoughts. I love your AU and your work and hope you have a wonderful day <3

I’ve been working on/thinking about this ask long enough that I’ve straight up forgotten if this was a thought I had when writing that first post (here) or if you brought it fully to my attention but we can safely assume it’s the latter so thank youuuuu for that truly. I love exploring Abram’s slow inch (and Andrew’s, but he’s had more time to get adjusted) towards finding a healthy relationship with touch 🥲 and oh my GOD don’t let me forget to tell all of you about Abram and gloves

I wrote a scene/lil collection of scenes about Andrew clearing things up here too because I’ve been wanting to explore Abram’s POV for a while 👀 there are references to canon abuse, so take care. As always, sparknotes version and additions below

I LOVE your points about Andrew, I totally agree that once it’s established and he’s allowed, he’s very much a tactile person, he just needs to get there first 💕

We all know for obvious reasons that it never once crosses the prince’s mind for Abram to be anything more than a professional bodyguard, even if he does find him attractive. He’s very good at courtesy and polite distance. How I imagine this goes down in the timeline is this:

1) Nathaniel shows up at Palmetto and he’s never allowed close to important people. Certainly never allowed close enough to touch. Totally safe there. It doesn’t take him long to understand Day really won’t take advantage of him since he never did in Evermore either, so that’s safe. There’s not much else to worry about for that long stretch of time.

2) Nathaniel/Abram becomes the prince’s guard. There’s probably a little anxiety just because there’s plenty of opportunities for the prince to try something, but as time goes on and Andrew keeps the previously mentioned distance, even acting apathetic (as he does), Abram starts to assume that the prince is straight/doesn’t care. It wasn’t as if every single person in Evermore was trying to get at him. Just the ones that wanted to. Obviously, the prince doesn’t want to. It gets to the point that Abram feels comfortable and doesn’t try to constantly watch his own back when he’s on duty.

Then the prince, perhaps feeling a little bold or hopeful or just wanting to say something so he doesn’t keep feeling like he’ll explode, makes a single comment on Abram’s “pretty face”. Even something that could be brushed off as friendly jest, if he really wanted. But Abram completely freezes up. Andrew, of course, notices. He doesn’t try to ask about it then, but he definitely notices. But he assumes that Abram took it as the genuine compliment it was, and that Abram is entirely uninterested or even wary of those advances. So he makes no more comments, he leaves the entire concept as far away as he can get it.

Now that Abram knows the prince finds him pretty, he’s just waiting for Andrew to be the same as everyone else. He didn’t even directly answer to the nobles in Evermore and they were still so bold - but he’s Andrew’s servant in the most direct way, and Andrew is a prince. Surely the prince is even more entitled to him than they were. (When he realizes this is what’s happening, Andrew tells Abram in no unclear terms exactly what is and isn’t expected of him. It takes longer than that for Abram to shake the anxiety he grew up with, but at least after that he can start repeating the prince’s words to himself when he needs to.)

3) that’s cleared up well enough, but then (much, much later) the prince wants to court him. At first Abram can’t think much beyond “there’s no way this is real” but then the more he thinks about it, the more nervous he gets again. He doesn’t know Palmetto courting traditions, what if he’s expected to do something he isn’t ready for. What if now that he’s accepted the courtship he can’t tell Andrew no anymore. It wouldn’t be fair of him to, he thinks, he shouldn’t have agreed so quickly.

But there’s a time they’re out doing whatever courtship things (maybe another horse ride for funsies idk), Abram’s getting nervous about it again, and when Andrew asks for a kiss or to hold his hand, Abram doesn’t answer. He’s also a little confused when Andrew doesn’t just do it anyway, because he hadn’t said no, but Andrew is watching him in the way that usually means Abram is acting too much like he’s at Evermore again. He tells Abram, “Nothing’s changed. You can say no.” And Abram does immediately - not because he doesn’t want whatever he was offered but because he scared himself. Andrew’s still watching him. “Don’t forget that again,” he says. Abram takes a shaky breath. “Yes, prince.”

But as soon as Abram’s past that anxiety for the second and probably final time? Andrew is still as tactile a person as before and gods know Abram is touch starved to hell and back, he’ll take any kind words or touches he can possibly get and he craves them. Specifically from the prince. Who loves to give them.

I’d love to come back and make a fluff post specifically about that point in the timeline if we can collectively come up with enough ideas for said fluff 🥰 for now thanks again for the ask, swear to GOD we’re gonna get these idiots a happy ending, but I’m having way too much fun in the meantime 😂

i'm sure most people will think this pair is Taboo(TM) considering canon events but this was the last fic i wrote in which i felt really good about my character voices. i'm particularly proud of the way i wrote riff's internal narration during the scene in the shop.

coffee break (keeley jones/roy kent/jamie tartt, ted lasso, T rating)

“What’s this?” Keeley asks. Roy wrinkles his nose when he makes out that familiar, tidy handwriting. “Says right there it’s from that prick, doesn’t it?”

if i don't achieve anything else in life, i can at least say i pioneered the keeley/roy/jamie tag on ao3. this fic is now in super AU land because i wrote it between seasons 1 and 2, but i'm astounded by how many kudos/etc i still get on it even though the series is potentially over. it's warmed my heart to see this ot3 gain its fans :)

rekindle (j. daniel atlas/dylan rhodes, now you see me, T rating)

Rhodes is an unknown variable in his system of chaos. Daniel wants to draw out that fire, extinguish it, then relight the dying embers with the sparks from his own torch.

a super niche pair in a super niche fandom but that's how i roll! i love these silly magician movies and i LOVE daniel and dylan's relationship. people who know me will know that i love writing fics that span canon events and incorporate them into developing (or established) relationships. this is one of those -- and i still love how i weaved mythology and the concept of heroism into this. one of my all-time personal favorites.

Joe shuts his eyes. He already knew this was a ridiculous notion, but now that he’s trying and failing to explain it out loud, the absurdity of the ordeal has been cemented in his mind. What’s more, he didn’t even consider if Leslie was single or taken, had automatically assumed that it would be the former. He’ll apologise, hang up, show up by himself to the party, it’s not a big deal— “Okay,” Leslie says. “Okay,” Joe echoes. He blinks. “Okay…?” “You need arm candy to parade around at this party, right? So, okay.”

speaking of niche pairs in niche fandoms... it doesn't get any more niche than joe and leslie, aka the namesake of my url. 1917 is the fandom i fell in love with during the height of the pandemic. without it, i wouldn't have written so much, nor met so many treasured life-long friends. also, this is just one of many joe/leslie fics i've written but it gets a special shoutout because i was deranged and churned it out in one week (betsy can attest).

the long way around (steve harrington/billy hargrove, stranger things, T rating)

Steve turns around. He can’t believe his eyes. “Billy?” It’s weird calling him that, considering they’d never spoken more than a few words (and exchanged a lot of fists), but Steve is so taken aback that he blurts out the name without a second thought. Sure enough, it’s Billy standing there, still sporting the same blond curls, but they’re tied back and a bit longer than before. He still has those damn aviators. At least he knows how to button up a shirt now. “You’re a long way from Hawkins,” Billy says.

i was gonna link a will/tom 1917 fic for my last entry, but ultimately decided on this old harringrove fic. i haven't read it in a while so idk how well it holds up, but harringrove is the pair that made me start writing fic seriously. i had written just one fic previously (and it was many, many years ago), but then season 3 of stranger things happened and the rest is history. this is not the first harringrove fic i wrote but it is my favorite. steve and billy go on a road trip together ten years after the starcourt mall incident (obvious au timeline here) and i still remember constructing a google map for this fic to keep track of the places they stop at. this fic will always have a special place in my heart.

so back around the time I wrote this, I was doing some research on autism for a project and realizing. huh. that sounds familiar. however, a lot of autistic representation felt like it was more built for children, and as an adult, I wanted to write about it from more of that perspective. I was and still am super proud of this, and I would honestly say this is easily in my favorite things i've written ever

this was six months of my life and and easily some of my best work. I technically started this in 2020 but did a lot of it in 2021, so it counts, but I love this fic. for all it's issues, this ended up being so much fun to work with. I literally had to work backwards and fix all of my plotholes on the fly. do you know how hard it is to make up a new SHIELD? anyways yeah I was crazy proud when I finished this

this was born out of frustration and an undying love for Sam Wilson. I don't even think tfatws had come out yet, but I needed to write this. this one was just fun tbh, I didn't have any other reason to write it

I had this idea at like 3am, and couldn't rest until I wrote the whole fic. this ship is one of my favorites, and I wish I could write it more, but I haven't had much opportunity to sincee

director's commentary for 'got a feeling that i'm going under' - especially the relationship bucky has with sam's family, and the scene with sam getting hurt.

Oh man, Got a feeling that I'm going under, the fic into which I put every single emotion I ever had. The idea came from the most fantastically random source - many years ago while chatficcing porn with a friend we were writing a 5SOS Harry Potter AU (yes, I deeply miss having someone to chatfic out my worst id garbage with) and I wrote a bit where I used the phrase "like being split open in reverse" about magical wound-healing. The image always stuck with me, and one evening I was thinking about Bucky Barnes, and what his whole fucking deal is, and the idea for the first scene popped into my head. The accelerated healing factor of super soldiers is so interesting to me, and we've seen so little about it - but like with any injury, it helps a hell of a lot if you set the bone/close the wound/etc. first.

I'm always interested in how Bucky went from sniper twink to the guy pitching himself off a motorcycle headfirst at another super soldier; that dude has gotten reckless as hell with his body! So he for sure gets hurt a lot, and I doubt that he was tended to with much care when he was the Winter Soldier, so I imagine he's gotten used to seeing to his own injuries while in the field, probably to the point of feeling awkward about someone else checking on him now. Thus: Local Man, 106, Really Trying to Go to Bed Still Bleeding, Realizes Horrified Partner.

I started writing it sometime after episode 3 or 4 (taking it on faith that the show was gonna have a HEA), initially because the other thing I was working on was taking too long to get to the porn, so I thought I'd write a one scene 4k or so little thing where Sam tends to Bucky's wounds, and they're tucked close in a motel bathroom and, you know, then they fuck, good for them. But then I was really enjoying the tension of that scene, and then I thought about artistically carved magical wounds, and things escalated.

Honestly, my usual approach to any fic is "write enough story to earn the sex scene", so that's sort of what I was doing, but in the way where I kept complaining to my friends that I was trying to get to the porn, but I just kept writing all these feelings. (I think at this point, with this pairing at least, I have to admit that I also always want to write enough story to make it clear that even if they don't say so in the fic, they are absolutely in love with each other.)

I was really struggling with how to finish out the first kiss scene, because I really wanted to get to the porn, but it was just kind of a logistical pickle. It took awhile to occur to me that I didn't have to write about the first time they have sex, which was mind-blowing as that's almost always what I write. Once I realized that, I also realized that (at this point, after the high of the show's ending) I desperately wanted to write a little established relationship for them.

So a kitchen injury to continue the theme was kind of a gimme, and having Bucky cooking dinner at Sam and Sarah's felt like it went right along with how clearly Bucky is part of their family now per ep 6, and would thus be comfortable enough there after awhile to cook in their kitchen (though he still wants to do a good job!). Plus the kids clearly adore him, and I think AJ's still at the age where he'd openly be more dazzled by Bucky and thus eager to help him do whatever. Indulge me in breaking down the following bit, because it's one of my favorite parts:

“I’m fine,” Bucky says again, looking at the stove as if it might betray him and his carefully constructed soup if he gets out of its sightline. “It just needs to simmer for five more minutes.” (Still trying to refuse help, but he'll get there, bless him! Also though he's put a lot of effort into becoming a good cook, he still doesn't entirely trust recipes and gets a little nervous when four other people are depending on him to be fed.)

Sarah, having already assessed the scene and identified what needs to be done, retrieves a wooden spoon from the drawer and pokes Bucky with it. “I got it, go.” (I love the mental image of the wooden spoon poke. Like first of all yes, jab the man, but also it shows quickly that in Sarah's mind at this point Bucky is basically her brother-in-law. 😭!!)

“The salad is looking good,” AJ reports to everyone. (Children are small insane people that still require attention and validation even when someone else is literally bleeding! Love that for them, sincerely.)

“It’s gonna be a great salad, buddy!” Bucky says to him over his shoulder as Sam directs him to the first floor bathroom. (But like, Bucky is so good with kids. He's happy to validate AJ and appreciates his help! He wants to help AJ grow up to be a good man and men these days have to know how to cook! 🥺)

Bucky is out here and he's ready to be a Barnes-Wilson (or a Wilson-Barnes. Or a Wilson. He's flexible)!!

And now the last scene, man, the last scene. Like the rest of this fic, it was absolutely not planned ahead of time in any reasonable way. Let me be super honest here: I ran across a Tumblr post that was basically like "fics where Sam takes care of Bucky are stupid garbage and so are the people who write them" (loosely paraphrased) and I was like OH FUCK this fic is thematically wrong and I Am The Problem, and after brooding about that for probably longer than I should have I realized, relatedly and fortunately, that the only way it made sense to end this fic was to flip the theme on its head and have Sam get injured and Bucky have to look after him. And how Bucky would freak out and become immediately invested in doing everything he can to make sure he can take care of Sam in every way forever. From there I sat down and wrote out the last scene pretty quickly!

I always get the most nervous about endings, so I'm really glad people enjoyed this one. I was pretty in my feelings after posting this fic, considering that I hadn't written a story since 2018, it was my first one for this pairing, it's a real stylistic switch from my past uh few decades of work, I hadn't written for a media fandom with a ton of canon in one thousand years, the central theme was magical wound-healing (?!), etc. The response to it was an extremely pleasant surprise and something I'm still grappling with as I've continued to write in this fandom. I hope someday I can write something else that connects with people the way this one did!

7) In terms of headcanons (which I wouldn’t say I make often) I think I’m most proud of how I unabashedly use magic in a lot of my stories. Elsa’s magic, Troll magic, Other-magic - if I think something is neat then I kind of just roll with it!

Elsa’s ice magic, in canon has a LOT of uses, but I like pushing the boundaries. Ice-GPS? Check. Icepack for that burn? Check (though who hasn’t xD). Troll magic used for time travel? Check. Troll magic used for Dream-traversal?? Check. Physical embodiment of a strong emotion via magic? Check. Physical, evil appearance of an emotion incarnate via ice magic and troll magic and the POWER OF LOVE? Where’s my BINGO sheet? Cuz check that too.

15) OOF wow, that’s a hard one. I hate to say it but it MIGHT be one that’s not published and is currently sitting on my GDrive >_>;; I’m really proud of my Frozen!StarWars crossover

16) I avoid writing smut, I’ve never really been game for it. I’m always amazed that other people can write it, but I never really want to. I also tend to avoid angst, especially if it’s for no other reason than JUST angst. It has it’s place, but I don’t like using it just to get a reaction. (Some of you are already pointing fingers at Spirit - I know I KNOW xD It was a one off, I swear!)

17) I immediately gravitate towards anything SOFT. I love slice of life, I love characters bonding with each other, I love when they have CONVERSATIONS, especially about hard things that they can work through together! I also love “Firsts’”! First meeting, first hug, first confession, first kiss, first hand-hold, first date, first anniversary, etc etc. I love confessions and conversations. On the flip side I really love established relationships? Whatever they are: familial, friends, romantic or marital. There’s something really nice about a a pair or a group already being together. I have no idea where that all fits under your standard trope lists, but those are mine!

20) I absolutely scream if anyone ever quotes my stuff back to me saying stuff like “I really liked this line/paragraph/part because...” and then says why. I lose my mind. I also love when people say “This made me feel X” because I’m just ever so curious about how writing affects people!

Edit bc I forgot: I’ve had one (1) person make me fan art once as “feedback” for a story and I was on cloud 9 for like, shit, a month?? I still think about that person. I legit hope they are living their best life.

21) I wouldn’t say I “always” wanted to write this since I’m WAY too impatient to wait on ideas most of the time BUT I have had this au sitting in my WIPs folder for nearly 6 YEARS and it’s about how the King and Queen of Arendelle are secretly part of a vampire hunting guild. They kill a vampire that snuck into the castle one night but not before it infects their daughter and heir to the throne, Elsa (who’s like, 6 or 8). Even though they’re oathbound to kill vampires, they can’t kill their daughter. The castle is closed similar to post-Accident Frozen 1.

Jumping to modern times, Anna is a history student exploring the mountains of Norway with her classmate, Hans, and a guide, Kristoff, and they are heading for the ruins of Arendelle castle for a research project. Rumors say that despite wars, invasions, thrill seekers, and treasure hunters, a lot of people that go into that foggy area of the fjord waters and forest end up lost and never found. The few that make it out tell tales of strange chills and the feeling of eyes at their backs. Locals know that the headstones of the last living Royals (who died at sea) are still tended to, though no one knows by whom. Anna gets separated from the group and encounters a sleeping Elsa in the castle before sundown. Afraid for the stranger’s safety (it’s winter, it’s cold, and it’s going to be night soon), Anna attempts to wake Elsa, to no avail. Realizing she’s sort of stuck herself, Anna builds a fire and awaits morning (and her own rescue), unknowing that in the last rays of sunlight her “companion” is about to wake. For the worse.

Unrelated to fanfic, I HAVE always wanted to write a story about a girl named Rain (as such for her birth during a terrible storm) that misfortune is heaped upon by the bucketful, so much so that everyone believes she’s cursed, except for her tutor. I want her name have a double meaning that she both slumps and shines under, since rain may bring destruction, but also growth and healing.

36) A Banisher’s Dilemma, hands down. I did SO MUCH RESEARCH for that fic AND I was in a Bible New Testament class at the same time, so I just SHOVED a whole bunch of Christian history, themes, imagery, and references in there. It’s not the only symbolism however, as I mixed plenty of other global and cultural references in there as well. Hard not to, since Anna is literally jet-setting to a new location nearly every chapter.

39) Surprising maybe no one: light humor! My writing is often funny, mostly because I like to make myself laugh :D If I’m not having fun, than what’s the point!? Most often it’s shown off in my one shots or short fiction, but even re-reading some of my longer chapter fics still has me laughing at the same jokes I wrote many years ago.

If not humor than portraying strong emotions. I’ve received too many (generous and loving <3) comments about how pinpoint accurate or visceral my portrayal of joy or sorrow, grief or fear, or love and happiness are to deny it. And that’s much less of a boast and more a humble acknowledgement of people who have written very thoughtful responses to my work, and it would be irresponsible to imply that their words over the years were false in any way.

What Ars Goetia Demon do you think would fit Orga Itsuka ? Example Mika-Barbatos, McGillis-Bael, etc.

Thanks for the question, anon! Man, it's been so long since I've gotten an IBO ask; I'm so pleased.  :D  As to your question, this one's actually surprisingly easy.  See, a while back I drew up a pile of notes for an IBO/Persona fusion fic that would have involved AU versions of the main cast getting Personas matched to the Ars Goetia demons, including characters that never had Gundams or even mecha in the canon.  I never wrote more than a few scenes of it, but I do still have all the notes!  So have Orga and his Goetic partner!  

Orga Itsuka — Agares.  For our upstart leader of Tekkadan, Agares, Duke of Hell, who returns runaways, makes staunch men flee, and tears down established authorities.  That last trait is obvious enough for the group of boys that does so much to shake the power structures of the world, but Tekkadan also has a number of routs of supposedly-superior opponents to their name, from the Gjallarhorn assault on CGS when no one expected other than that Third Division would go out there and get slaughtered, to the Dawn Horizon attack, where Tekkadan is so vastly underequipped but still emerges victorious.  As to the runaway thing, I believe it’s intended in an ominous way—forcibly returning those who have fled possibly legitimate mistreatment.  However, Tekkadan is itself a haven for runaways and strays, so I prefer to tie it to the way Orga builds a family and a place to belong for all those orphans and outcasts in his care.  In this sense, Agares’ power over runaways guides them to a more “proper” home.

Kudelia Aina Bernstein — Buné.  Another Duke, Buné grants eloquence and wisdom, speaking true answers in a high, comely voice.  For Kudelia, whose impassioned speeches cause governments to take note of her and stop entire fleets from attacking her allies, he’s a strong choice.  Buné is, of course, not the only demon who grants wisdom nor eloquence, but he also has associations with the dead, enlisting them into his ranks, making him the most distinct choice for Kudelia, from whom the children who die to advance her cause are ever on her mind.

Eugene Sevenstark — Mathim.  Yet another Duke, Mathim can teleport men wherever they need to go and teaches astral projection.  The teleportation ties into how Tekkadan’s second-in-command is frequently left in charge of commanding the Isaribi and given full command of the Hotarubi, but more significant is the astral projection—Eugene is the only person in the show fool enough to use his Alaya-Vijnana hookup to route his consciousness into a full-sized starship.  A connection to a demon who assists in astral projection is as good an explanation as any for his continued survival with no ill effects from the neural overload.

Biscuit Griffon — Marchosias.  A Great Marquis of Hell, Marchosias is another truthful sort, like Biscuit, who is quite poor at concealing unease and frequently willing to speak up about his reservations.  Marchosias is, further, strong and reliable, and hoped to return to Heaven after a passage of time, though he was unable to.  This makes for a cutting parallel with Biscuit’s willingness to leave Tekkadan entirely to return to his sisters, and the early death which prevents him from having to follow through or not on that choice.  (Marchosias has also, between the times of my taking fic notes and the writing of this post, been assigned as the main character’s Gundam in the Venus-based gatcha game.  I’d gone to some effort to avoid assigning anyone to a demon that already had an extant Gundam in the show/spin-off material unless it was their own canonical Gundam, but alas, it was bound to happen eventually.)

Atra Mixta  — Seir.  A Prince of Hell who is indifferent to evil, being of a good-natured temperament.  For Atra, surrounded by people much more prepared to resort to violence than she, it speaks to her loving, generous character.  Moreover, Seir brings abundance, which parallels well with Atra’s role as cook and, eventually, mother, as well as her epilogue seeing her settled down on a farm.  

Ride Mass — Allocer.  For Tekkadan’s amateur painter and part-time designer, the Grand Duke Allocer, one of many demons who teaches the arts.  For the black-jacketed, bitter youth who guns a man down in a bathroom stall, the burning-eyed knight who induces men to immorality.

Dante Mogro — Valefar.  A Duke again, Valefar tempts men to steal and ensures good relationships amongst thieves, traits that speak to Dante’s cheerful nature despite his circumstances and his gleeful embrace of his role as Tekkadan’s hacker.  

Chad Chadan — Ipos or Buer.  I never made up my mind on this one.  Ipos, a Prince and an Earl, grants wittiness and valiance, and can answer questions about past, present and future.  This makes a good reference to Chad’s implied-by-the-canon inclination to seek out information in his off-time, and certainly to his brief turn as a Getter Robo character unexpectedly bold performance against Hashmal.  Conversely, Buer, a President of Hell, teaches philosophy and heals all injuries and infirmities.  The philosophy tack has the same angle as Ipos’ wittiness, but the healing would speak to Chad’s jaw-dropping ability to survive everything the show throws at him—the bridge fight at Edmonton, the bomb in the conference hall, specifically drawing the attention of a mobile armor, the hail of gunfire that takes down Orga, and every other assorted major and minor combat between those more specific events.

A few quick notes on Mikazuki, Akihiro and Shino, who, of course, already have their Goetic familiars!    

Barbatos finds hidden treasures and grants speech with animals.  He’s matched to Mikazuki, who pilots a glorified power cell to a triumphant victory and a sea-change in the fortunes of himself and those he cares for, and who probably gets called a space rat more times than anyone else, and certainly carries the bulk of those space rats’ ambitions.  

Gusion reconciles friends and grants honor and dignity.  He’s matched to Akihiro, who is lead to a reunion and, at the very end, a reconciliation with his younger brother, and who claws himself up from being Human Debris to Tekkadan’s second ace, who carries himself with a diligent sternness. 

Flauros is associated with revenge against one’s enemies, as well as being a chatty bastard who will happily talk about many topics, including himself.  Further, he is capable of warding his summoner from temptation, but will only do so if specifically asked.  Flauros is really just amazingly well-chosen for the gregarious, hot-blooded, cheerfully boastful and perpetually horny Shino.

I’m gonna do the meme and double it up as an announcement of what I am currently into and what you’re likely to see on this blog if I start picking up my activity levels a little.

I honestly have no idea how active tumblr is at this point - how many of you are still around, and how many of you I might lose if I start reblogging my other fandoms in addition to Sterek - but after doing a Pillowfort experiment for a while, I think I’ve finally figured out how to use social media again in a way that works better for me.

My old method, before tumblr kinda imploded and fandom got weird (filled with antis and ship hate and constant infighting, ugh why), was to create a separate blog for everything I was into, which is why I have appreciatederek, appreciateshiro, appreciatejack, and...is that it? See, this is why I need to stop scattering myself into a zillion different pieces.

So I’m going to consolidate more (like I do on twitter and now Pillowfort), and also hopefully get back to my fandom roots: digging into more meta, like I did 8 years ago when I first fell in love with Sterek, and posting fic recs, like I also did thanks to Sterek. (And sharing my own fics as I write them. Guess which fandom pushed me down that path, too.)

So it’s fitting that the first ship on this list is...well, an obvious one.

1. STEREK (Teen Wolf)

Y’all know this one. Sterek will always, always be the OTP of my heart. I love their dynamic. I love the creativity and passion of the fandom. I love that they brought my writing back to me and introduced me to so many of you.

I still have dozens of Sterek fic ideas; quite a few of them are partially written or have significant outlines, so at some point I will still be writing them. Life is just, as you know, very busy and very tiring and it’s so hard to fit everything into my days. I’m working on it, I promise. 

I’d like to start doing more updates with snippets of my upcoming fics, maybe a lil Q&A if anyone wants to chat about what I’m working on/my thought process behind what I’ve already written/what you’d like to see from me, etc. Interactive fun stuff! Sterek fandom is still the best and most supportive fandom I’ve ever been a part of, and it makes me happy every time I’m reminded we’re all still around and thriving.

And here’s some of the other stuff I’m into right now...

2. XANATOWEN (Gargoyles)

I have been sailing this ship entirely by myself since January, recently joined by the aforementioned M, who also created this gif for me while she was still in the patient “I’m your friend, I will listen to you yelling about this show” stage. (ha ha ha look at her now, that’s what you get)

I’ve been genuinely holding myself back from spamming tumblr with my thoughts about this show and this ship, which I’m beginning to realize is...maybe silly. I’ll still try to keep it a little bit balanced, but you can definitely look forward to more Gargoyles on the horizon, including:

Fics - 30k so far, with another 4.6k that I’m hoping to post this afternoon, after I look over it and decide if I still like it (ha ha fic writing amirite). I also have a fairy tale AU that I’ve done a substantial outline for, so I’d really like to get that underway.

Episode recaps/meta posts - these are currently being posted over on Pillowfort. The goal is to get the last two episodes of Season 1 up there, then to start crossposting them here.

As long as it’s not a gigantic hassle to paste over all the screencaps, because I uh. I have a lot of them. And a lot of thoughts about the show as a whole, but particularly about the relationship between David Xanatos and Owen Burnett: the meta’s currently averaging from about 1.5k to 2.5k per episode, whoooops.

3. TREVORCARD (Castlevania)

I honestly did not expect to get this deeply invested in this ship. I watched and liked the first two seasons of Castlevania and really enjoyed the dynamic between Trevor and Alucard, but it wasn’t until the lead-up to Season 3 (and then the devastation of how absolutely terrible that season was) that I realized how much I loved these two together.

So now I’m having a very Sterek Fandom moment of “eff you canon, they’re ours now” in regards to Trevorcard. 

I’ve written one fic for them - it’s a 20k coffee shop/modern/college/artist/musician AU because they deserve all the fandom tropes and so much happiness together..

I don’t currently have plans to write any more, although if I do, it’ll likely be some sort of neighbors AU with wolf!Alucard, since my vast experience with Sterek fandom has taught me the absolute joys of exploring characters who can canonically turn into a beautiful giant effing wolf. 

I’ve also been steadily reading my way through every single Trevorcard fic in the AO3 tag, which unfortunately is only ~200. (HOW is this a rare pair. I will never ever understand it, they’re perfect together, and the animators literally said they intentionally storyboarded moments like the one above with the knowledge that people would start shipping them.)

Once I’ve finished up my AO3 tour, I’m going to compile the ones I enjoyed into rec lists. There are some really wonderful fics in there, and I’m excited to see what the rest are like.

4. TAIBANI (Tiger & Bunny)

I really don’t talk about this ship much, but it’s so immensely close to my heart. I have...so much...official merch of Kotetsu and Barnaby; it makes me happy every single time I see it. If I used my Tiger & Bunny stuff as the standard for what sparks joy during a konmari, the rest of my apartment would probably wind up empty.

The show (which is finally getting a second season in 2022 - Kotetsu & Barnaby had better be getting married) is wonderful. I genuinely can’t recommend it enough. Great writing, wonderful character development, beautiful animation, and Kotetsu and Barnaby are absolutely perfect together. Here’s an old post where I talk about that a little bit.

I’ve only written one fic so far: a canon compliant established relationship future fic that focuses more on their family dynamic as Kotetsu’s daughter adapts to turning 18, becoming a hero, and living with her frustratingly affectionate dad & his new husband.

I have ideas for two AUs: a single dad mature student/young professor one and a sorta weird circus/steve irwin-inspired one. We’ll...we’ll see if I ever get around to either. What I end up writing always surprises me, so I sorta give up on planning what words will come out.

And oh wait! I totally forgot about the third idea, which will be roughly canon compliant, with “Kotetsu sets Barnaby up on a series of blind dates that Barnaby initially thinks will be with HIM” angsty/funny fic. Hrm. I should get back to that one, I’ve outlined part of it.

I haven’t actually read a ton of fic for this pairing, because the more I like canon material, the less I seek out fandom content to “fix” it, but I would like to start going through the AO3 tag after I finish my Trevorcard project. I did an initial rec list ages ago and would like to follow up with another.

5. SHEITH (Voltron: Legendary Defender)

Here’s the last pairing I write fics for. I have several more in progress that I’d really like to finish - including a dragon AU that I wish someone else would just finish for me so I can read it, hahhhhhhh sigh. I wrote 15k, did a ton of research, and basically intimidated myself out of continuing, because it’s one of my Big Projects. Not gonna be like, PDIW length or anything, but it should be a pretty hefty fic once it’s done.

Then there’s the roommates AU, the burrito shop AU, the....wow. I really need to get back to these, don’t I. A couple of them are super close to being finished, too.

I’ve also compiled a few fic rec lists, although I haven’t updated those (or my Sheith blog) in a while.

This fandom has been...interesting. Rough sometimes. Sliding into some of the other pairings on this list has provided a good break for me, particularly since they’re all such small fandoms that they’re relatively free from drama and hate. Once I’m fully refreshed and re-inspired, I’d love to get back into writing Sheith. They’re such a perfect, feel-good, extraordinarily balanced and supportive ship, and I am disappointed every single day I remember that Voltron didn’t stick the landing with making them canon.

City of Stone and Silence by Django Wexler. Everyone, please give his books a try if you're into fantasy. They're so good. He's written for adults, middle grade, and YA, and all of it is fantastic. He's probably my second-favorite author atm (because I love Seanan McGuire and her writing too much to give the top spot to anyone else XD).

I guess out of the fics I'm following that are still updating at least somewhat frequently, it'd probably be more-or-less a tie between BnHA and Trollhunters/Tales of Arcadia. But that only means, like, 5 – 6 fics each compared to 3 – 4 for most other fandoms, so. Not a big difference. ^^;

If it's "the characters raise a kid together" then…I'm not all that interested in either, but I'd probably take childhood friends, depending on the plots of the individual stories. If it's "the adult characters when they were kids", then…they're almost the same thing, unless you're writing adult characters who grew up as childhood friends, and either way I have no real preference for either. If you define kidfic to include de-aging fics, then I'll take kidfic. Such a surprise, given my current WIP, I'm sure. :P

I guess secret dating, though I'm not fond of either.

That would be Dissonant Echoes, so…The Straw Hats arrive on a mysterious island. Zoro disappears and comes back as a kid with strong negative reactions to the rest of the Straw Hats, and they have to find out what happened and try to fix things.

17. Describe a fic that is still in the ‘ideas’ stage.

A full AU, tentatively titled Praying to Embers. More-or-less modern times. Luffy and his friends come to an island on vacation (still working out which SHs come with him and which they'll meet there). They arrive just in time for a festival celebrating the island's god, Roronoa, and at the festival they meet Zoro, a local who Luffy ropes into being their tour guide. He's not very good at the guiding part, but Luffy's sure they'll be great friends, which is good for Zoro, because he's really going to need some friendly help soon, if he can learn to trust them before it's too late.

This is what I'll be writing after DE, barring a new idea taking me hostage unexpectedly.

18. Do you have a fic reading/writing routine?

Reading, not really, unless you count downloading fics to my kindle and doing most of my reading: in the bathroom, while waiting for laundry or food to be done, when I’m supposed to be sleeping, etc. Well, that and reading on the computer, trying to see the screen past my armful of big fluffy kitty while he kneads my neck and shoulders and arms and face. >.<; Writing, I like to have a cup of tea before I start, I guess? And usually some music.

I don't think I have a single favorite. I'm not sure I could even narrow it down to a half dozen, haha. Do you think fitzsimmons could’ve taken the 12 years they took in canon to get together if they had dæmons, or do you think being able to know themselves better would mean they’d always get together earlier? I know they did in your fic, but do you think there’s any way they could’ve followed the canon timeline with dæmons?

No, not in the way I conceive of either the ‘verse or the characters, that’s why I wrote them in the way that I did - one of both Simmons and Fitz’s greatest faults in canon early on is that they suppress their emotions so strongly. In the dæmon-verse, they each have a second being that is the embodiment of their inner selves and feelings, and as such I think that both of them would only be able to repress certain feelings for a certain amount of time. 

The dæmons naturally bring certain parts of their relationship that were previously ignored or unnoticed to the fore, and so they can’t ignore them for twelve years the way they do in canon. Sarama and Caedmon won’t let it - although Sarama would always be the one who broke first, because Caedmon (being a facet of Jemma) has a tighter lock on his own responses than Sarama does. In this way, the two dæmons mirror how in canon Fitz came to a realization about his feelings before Simmons did.

2. How do you think writing about them with dæmons affected your ability to convey the characters’ views of themselves and their internal struggles?

It was a really fun challenge! Of course, Sarama and Caedmon, although derived from Fitz and Simmons respectively, actually have their own distinct personalities, so establishing that was important right at the outset. Although each human and dæmon might agree about many things, I had to figure out the types of things they might disagree about (etc.), and then also figure out how that’s even possible (it is) for two beings that are derived from the same soul.

The toughest part about writing about them with the dæmons is honestly just remembering that the dæmons are always there - there’s so much of Side By Side that, of course, features the dæmons, but there’s also almost just as much where the scenes revolve entirely around Simmons and Fitz interacting with each other. I had to always keep in mind what the dæmons were doing if they weren’t immediately being described at any moment. Sometimes, I didn’t realize I’d forgotten to do that until editing, lol, and I had to write the dæmons back in. 

As for the characters’ views of themselves and their internal struggles specifically, in some ways, writing with the dæmons around is easier - Caedmon is more likely to call Jemma out on her own behavior, for example, than she might on her own. The dæmons sort of force this kind of self awareness that neither of them has in canon. And honestly, writing Jemma and Caedmon outright arguing is just a fun, straightforward way to dramatize her internal struggles about how to deal with her unpredictable, illogical, and unwanted romantic feelings towards Fitz. Having her shouting at a lion is a lot more enjoyable to write than just trying to elucidate an internal monologue!

3. Why do you think giving characters dæmons is such a popular AU to write?

I think it’s popular for 2 simple reasons, one of which I just described above - it’s so much easier to dramatize internal struggles when a person can literally talk it out with a being outside of themselves. 

The second reason is the same as the reason why I think HDM is so popular as a universe in general: Humans don’t ever want to be alone. With a dæmon, we’re never alone - it’s like having a pet that is always around, and that is anthropomorphized so you can actually talk to them, and they talk back. What kid or teenager wouldn’t desperately want that? I know I did as a kid - I was also an only child, so I was drawn to any universe that provided the characters with a constant companion. The basic concept of course remains popular for millions of readers of all ages, so it’s often woven into fanfic.

The very first time I ever wrote anything (that was far before the internet and before I even knew that fanfics were), was for the Famous Five. My first fic when I knew about fanfics was for Avatar the Last Airbender.

The Famous Five, Avatar the Last Airbender, the Vampire Diaries, Yugioh [none of these were ever uploaded anywhere lol], MCU, One Piece and the Gazette.

C. Who is your favorite character to write?

I'm honestly not sure I have one lol. I'd say any character from my three otps~

D. Do you prefer gen or romance?

Romance.

E. Have you ever written a crossover?

Nope. I have once imagined a Yugioh and One Piece crossover though lol idek why.

Geez..... since High School so around hm.... 12 to 15 years?

I used to post chapter by chapter but now I first write the whole fic before I post the story. It works better that way for me. One or two friends do get to read my drafts though, to point out inconsistencies etc.

I mean I do want to write all my fic ideas eventually, so... but if I had to pick one, probably the Aoiki Shinigami AU. It's gonna be challenging af so we'll see how that goes...

M. How do you come up with titles? 

Oh boi 💀 I hate titles so much lmao I still don't have one for my Parenting AU and I'm 12 chapters in. I usually take inspiration from songs lol or use song titles tbh XD sometimes I manage to think of some aesthetically pleasing titles that somehow hint at the plot but rarely so.

N. How do you come up with summaries?

The second thing I hate the most about writing XD idk either I can think of something semi good or I'll just use some extract from a chapter and hope people will find it interesting enough to read the fic lol.

O. Is there any fandom you’ve been into that you haven’t written fic for? Why not?

Bungou Stray Dogs... I really want to write fics for it but I haven't come up with a good enough idea yet.

P. What are your favorite tropes to write?

I have so many hmm.... my favorite gotta be two idiots in love who don't know they are/are in denial or don't think the other reciprocates their feelings. Somehow that's far easier to write for me than people actually openly dating lol.

Q. If you could pick one fic of yours to rewrite, which would it be?

I mean most of my One Piece fics need rewriting lol. But I deleted most of them from the web anyway. I was considering rewriting some Law x Reader fics into Law x Luffy though~ also What Happens in Vegas needs a serious reworking lol it's so bad in some parts.

R. Would you ever write a sequel to any of your fics? Which one(s)?

I've been considering writing a one shot for Lukewarm Rain, yes. Other than that, no. I'm not really into sequels tbh.

S. What is your favorite pairing to write?

Aoiki.... I wanna write Lawlu and Soukoku too though but I haven't yet (´༎ຶོρ༎ຶོ`) also some other ships like Uruki, Reituha etc [also please note I use these ship names solely to indicate the two parts of the ships, not to say who "tops and who's bottom" since apparently everyone uses ship names that way lol. I just go for the most common ship name, that's all. I can‘t stand the top/bottom bs.]

T: Would you or have you ever written an unhappy ending?

I have yes XD a drabble in which Ace dies and a oneshot in which Law kills the reader LOL. But I would never writte unhappy endings for my otps. I hate sad endings.

U. Do you prefer AUs or canon compliant fics?

Depends on the fandom. Gazette definitely AUs, they're so fun to explore. One Piece and Bungou Stray Dogs I love canon compliant fics, there's so much to work with~

V. Do you prefer writing established relationships or first times?

First times! In one shots, established ones are cool too, but for longer fics I absolutely prefer first times~ I'm struggling a lot with open first time dating in my Parenting AU lol somehow it's so difficult for me to not include angst into the mix lol.

Yes. Lots of Mary Sues in One Piece fics. Thank god no one ever got to see those fics lmfao.

Jesus Christ, I just had this HC and now I gotta spill, otherwise I won't be able to sleep tonight. Here's another annoying Long Post for y'all)

Deku, as a Pro Hero and Katsuki's Duo Partner, has a pretty hectic life since the media are crazy bloodhounds, the villains are a pain in the ass, interacting with fans becomes exhausting at times, and the critics are demons wailing for his blood.

Yeah, very hectic. And on top of that, there's very little time to relax. Most of the days he sneaks some solace in the gym, if he can buy more time he likes to read and immerse himself in his notebooks and research. Fighting Katsuki to blow some steam is a last resort to shed off weeks of frustration and only reserved for off-days or desperate times - because something like that inevitably devolves into gratuitous rough sex or worse, day-long fuck-a-thon. Not that Deku doesn't enjoy it, he simply doesn't have the time to indulge and he knows Kacchan doesn't either, so they try to keep their hands off each other unless the occassion begs for much-needed violent release.

But sometimes, you just want instant relief. Sometimes Deku just wants to kick back and relax like a normal person, go on the internet, without everyone hounding him for a piece of his mind.

So he does.

Under Anonymity.

Et viola @allmight9000 comes alive on several media platforms including Tumblr and Twitter. At first, Deku masquerades around as a hardcore All Might fan fighting anyone who dares to diss the retired Symbol of Peace . But since his retirement, his popularity has gone cold, not many heated debates take place around him anymore and as sad as this makes Deku, he decides to discover new venues.

Now, Deku knows there's this dark void of fanfiction lurking on the net and there's no escape from it should he ever set foot into it. He is also aware of the dark things that beckon him from the sewers like Pennywise the Dancing Clown (eg. All Might/Endeavour, Hawks/Endeavour, All Might Bowl, All Might/ Hero Harem, All Might/Midnight, All Might/Aizawa/Present Mic and so on), things he should rightfully keep a safe distance from. But this is fucking Deku we are talking about- ofcourse he dares to dip his foot into the murk of fanfiction.

For science, he thinks, and takes the plunge.

It all goes downhill from there.

One day, Katsuki comes back from his shift to find Deku face-planted into the sofa, he hasn't eaten lunch, hasn't bathed and is claiming trauma, repeatedly insisting that he has sinned and he is going to hell for it, then he shakily holds up a 367k word fic of Villain Might/Endeavour. Katsuki has to slap him back to his senses. Later that night, Deku calls up Toshinori and asks him for forgiveness, when Toshinori asks him worriedly, 'For what?', Deku assures him he DOES NOT wanna know.

After obsessively going through various tropes and completing every Enemies to Lovers / Mutual Pining / Unrequited Love fic there is (and there is a lot, Deku hates himself every day for it), waiting torturous weeks for dead authors to rise from the ashes for a teeny tiny update, Deku finally gives up his small lake of unfulfilling All Might ships (because frankly it's hard to find a fic that suits his tastes and convincingly fleshes out a love story around a man who has pointedly avoided romance for the better part of his LIFE or a find a fic which is COMPLETE) and sets out into the sea of Ships.

Bad Idea.

Very VERY Bad Idea.

(We know it, he knows it. Katsuki is the only one who is blessedly oblivious because he chooses not to wade into Deku's mental shit and compromise his own sanity.)

Strangely, Deku has come to take an odd satisfaction of returning to fan mentality of shipping two people without restraints (rarely more than two)-it's simple, senseless, easy. It gives his head a break from all the overanalyzing it does and gives him a small dose of endorphins when he cant work out, eat out or fuck out the frustration. He was adverse to it first, since these are strangers trying to ship two random people (people he is friends with), and it was unsettling to find so many people shipping them when they've BARELY had any interaction in canon real life! What's the premise of shipping them at all? He just didn't find any allure to it back then. So he kept his reads under fluff and under mature ratings because he feels uncomfortable reading smut about his friends.

But Deku had a 'Oh my God they were ROOMMATES' moment when Jirou and Momo announce that they are dating to the U.A. Alumni, that too after reading a really fluffy Creati/Earphone Jack fic which accurately referenced their public sightings together and spun it into plot-points quite masterfully. ( the author did a real good job on it) And the most horrifying thing about the fic, Deku finds, is the fact that NO ONE, not even the AUTHOR knows how correct they were in their estimates! No one except Deku.

That realization shakes the foundations of Deku's beliefs and morality as he wonders how many fics out there , sfw or smut, requited or unrequited love, enemies to lovers or lovers to strangers, fluff or smut have come so so close to the truth, been so damn close - like an alternate course of their love-story? and WHY IS NO ONE GIVING IT MORE KUDOS?

This is how Deku ends up being the most irredeemable Shipper of the universe- with a mission in hand:

To curate proof of all valid ships and to supply aforesaid proof of it to the world (as subtly as he can of course, so as to not compromise his own identity or the privacy of the Shipped.)

He begins to scour through the net for paparazzi photos, indulges in gossip, pries out information of who is dating whom from his Hero contacts, authenticates it, creates folders and subfolders of photographic 'proof' (they are just teasers really) and whenever anyone writes a fic that comes anywhere close to the real thing he makes sure to tag them in his tumblr/twitter post with photos which basically pour gasoline over their fiery passion to continue dreaming and writing fics around those Ships. Like:

You wrote a fic of Fluffy Iron Fist x Real Steel? Here you go- an obscure pic of them leaving her apartment together

Uravity x Ingenium and Uravity x Froppy? A love triangle that could possibly end in heartbreak?!! Damn, sistah, who knows? (She's confused too, imho) So here you go- Uravity getting tipsy with Froppy and Uravity snuggling to Ingenium under the rain.

One-shot of Chargebolt x Cellophane getting frisky in an alley? Honey, I gotchu. Here's a pic of them arriving at a villain scene together with dishevelled clothes.

Deku becomes a sensational fic-writer-enabler and often gives inspiration to writers who are looking to write for a new fandom. Deku's got their backs.

He sinks so deep into this Shipping business that one day Katsuki catches wind of it. It was becoming painful to keep ignoring Deku's descent into madness. Katsuki was okay with it as long as the nerd did his job well and fucked him even better (which Katsuki will never admit to enjoying, even at gun point. Pull the trigger, you coward). So, yeah, Katsuki could have accepted all of Deku's weird stalkerish behaviours (even if they weren't fixated on him all the time anymore and the 'Kacchan, sugoi!' comments had plummeted drastically....who needs the shitnerd to validate his worth, right?! Right...it didn't make him pissed AT ALL. because admitting that would mean he enjoyed it, WHICH HE DID NOT, MIND YOU)

What Katsuki couldn't accept was Deku accidentally using his official Hero twitter handle to post a very platonic (but in the eyes of rabid fans- borderline homoerotic) pictures of him and Eijirou and posted it as #Ground_Riot. The fucking flood of Zeku-haters and pro-GroundRioters had the comments section on FIRE. The post goes VIRAL.

Deku, fucking DEKU, the man who is secretly ENGAGED to him, is promoting GroundRiot like NO ONE's business and HE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT HE DID WRONG.

Katsuki finds Deku happily puttering around their shared apartment completely oblivious to the PR hell that has been licking at his heels. He immediately attacks Deku's account and is completely gobsmacked. Lo and fucking behold- every fifth picture in his blog is fucking GROUND RIOT.

Not just that, apparently, THIS MAN, his fucking FIANCE, is not only a renowned peacemaker in inane Ship wars, but is hailed as a Soothsayer of Ships for always correctly prophecizing "Ships that will Sail into the fucking Sunset', he is basically some minor god in the Hero fandom who is extorting excitement out of fic writers and fans alike so that 'the crime of incomplete fics' can be eradicated once and for all. And Deku's fucking commited to it.

(perhaps more commited to Ground Riot than his own betrothal because there isn't A SINGLE POST of ZEKU on his blog)

There's even a post where he answers an ask from anonymous. The question: "Are you also anti-Zeku? I have never seen you post anything related to that ship. Is it because you think it won't Sail?" And Deku answers shortly how he isn't explicitly Anti-Zeku, but doesn't like the idea of reading fanfics of that ship. He clearly witholds his opinion if the ship will sail or not. Katsuki also finds the chat which started all this shit.

Katsuki sees red, he's about to flip his shit when he decides to give Deku one LAST fucking chance to explain WHY THE FUCK is he promoting Ground Riot when he should be shipping Zeku and demands of him if he really wants their Fucking Ship To Sail Or Not.

Deku gets defensive and says of course he does. Katsuki asks why he has been trying to push him onto Eijirou all this time if he wasnt serious about it. Deku doesnt want to answer. Then Katsuki gets fruatrated and asks WHY the fuck didnt he post Zeku.

"Because I don't want to support it"

"We are literally fucking engaged, you moron. What the FUCK do you mean you don't support it?!"

"I support Us, Kacchan! I just don't wanna support Zeku-shippers! Those two things are different!"

"WHy dont you wanna support them?! tHere is No Difference!"

"There is! I am not obligated to do anything for you. But if I admit to shipping Zeku out loud to the shippers, then I'm obligated to post pictures of us and I know that if I start posting that then my blog will literally be a flood of just Us all over!!"

1: are there any fics that you wanted to leave multiple kudos for, and were disappointed when you could only leave one?

I can say there were too many fics where I wanted to leave more than one kudos ! this is the kind of story i’m coming back to some nights, when i say a new chapter has been post (hourray!), and then at the end of the chapter i’m juste like : pls let me give more thanks to this author, he/she deserves it so much !

I’m only going to give three examples bc otherwise, i’m gonna stay here the whole night !

2: coffeeshop AU or soulmate AU?

I’m so, so, so in love with soulmate AU. It is always something to think about how our fates may be connected to one another. I like that thought and, more than anything, it could help me, a poor and lonely soul, to find real love. And also, it is really easy to romanticize it or turn it funny. So I’m like 100% soulmate AU.

3: slowburn or established relationship?

Slowburn. I like developping relationship and begin from zero to something more complicated. I like all the emotions you can have, insecurities, uncertainties ... from someone who is slowly falling in love and who is terrified by that.

4: has a fic ever made you cry?

nope. Never. But it’s really hard to make me cry over something. Like if one of my relatives die, I would probably cry a lot but I never cried when reading a book, seeing a movie ... except for the Little Prince.

5: what category of fics do you read the most? (angst, fluff, etc)

I read a lot of angst. And write a lot of angst too. I don’t know why, I must like to see people suffering ... 

i just find a certain beauty in people who have been bruised and that still find force to stand.

6: what’s your least favourite fanfic category?

Hard to tell. I don’t know ... i think any category can shelter masterpiece, depending on who is writing and why and if they got the right inspiration at the right moment ... etc. So I cannot resolve myself to fully dislike one category.

7: would you rather read a plot-focused fic or pwp? 

Plot-focused. No particular reason. 

9: what are your favourite ships to read fics for?

If we are taking every single fandom I entered in, I can say for sure Maxiel, Deledier, Lochte/Phelps (though no one write about them anymore) and Stormpilot. 

10: have/would you read a reader-insert fic?

I already did. Quite a few. I was really curious about it and it’s not that unpleasant. Maybe not my cup of tea though.

11: ever read guilty pleasure fics?

Guilty pleasure fic ? ...nah, no guilty pleasure over here. Only pleasure :D

12: first-person or third person fics?

Mostly third person. I gave up on first-person fic and found more enjoyable third person fics. Some personal experiments discourage me to write while using first-person in fact. I’m recovering slowly and trying my best to put myself at work and end up some writing with first-person perspective !

13: do you read author’s notes usually?

Yes, I like to see if they want to share anything with us, readers. It may be anything, only a few words, but it may be important to their eyes. I try to pay attention to this, now that i write too.

14: what’s your favourite AU setting?

University AU. Or like, usually, anything that puts characters in a school context. I found it pretty funny and this can already give us some issues to develop through our characters.

15: do you usually leave comments on chapters/fics?

I try. To fics that gave me a big, big feelings/impressions. There is so much I want to say to writers but often I read fics really late and my brain isn’t able to work enough to give me a correct english. So mostly I tell myself I’ll come back tomorrow. And I forget too often, that’s a shame.

16: fix-it fics or au fics?

That’s a good question ! x) I’m gonna stay with au, though i really like fix-it fics because it is always soothing when you are able to rewrite what happens. Because often it hurts and it may be tragical and sometimes we wish we could do the same with the reality ... 

and then au fics is somehow directly thinking about another reality, ignoring what we know right now and totally change things and I love that. Absolutely amazing.

17: canon-compliant or canon, what canon?

Canon. It may seems weird for someone who just said prefering au fics but it’s just like this. I can’t really explained it to myself ...

18: have you ever read fics you would not confess to reading?

Once again, nope. I think many have their own likings and if reading that fic is a shame for someone, it is certainly not for somebody else. I often choose what I read before I read it, i don’t have in mind any fics i’m somehow ashamed to have read.

19: undercover au or college au?

Ooooh, undercover au sounds nice. I think I never wrote about it, i should try one day ! but i’m staying with college au.

20: what something that immediately makes you exit out of a fic?

a ship that i don’t like ? i may stay if the story is good but it makes me cringe a bit and my mind can’t stay focus on a damn thing. I’m somehow too loyal to my own ships, it’s annoying ... x)

1) How old were you when you first starting writing fanfiction?

Ten or eleven, when I first figured out it was a Thing. (Somewhere, buried in my boxes of Old Papers, there is baby!shadowsong’s attempt at writing something involving Padme turning up at Yavin but with the serial numbers very badly filed off, before I learned it was possible to just...write fanfic, lol.

5) If you had to choose a favourite out of all of your multi chaptered stories, which would it be and why?

Oh, Lord, why must you do this to me. XD

I mean, I like all of them for different reasons? Writing Precipice is almost like coming home, I’ve been living in that AU for so long; The Devoted was delightfully self-indulgent and a fun exercise in worldbuilding and I do plan to put more in that AU at some point, I swear; These Three Remain also had some super self-indulgent bits and some sweet cuddly fluffy bits and yep; Distaff is so much fun to work with Anakin’s characterization and her (in said fic) relationship with Padme; I have some WIPs that I’m super excited to get out...even going back to old fandoms, HoTM and Cartography!Verse and The Promises of Angels and Serenissima (ish; we were posting it as a series of vignettes rather than one long novel) and For Sorrow Sung and all my AtLA fic, and...

...yeah, I’m bad at picking favorites XD

11) Have you ever amended a story due to criticisms you’ve received after posting it?

Not really? I’ve added extra notes and when I was a baby in the LOTR fandom I actually took a fic down because I got pounced on by a Canon Purist, but I...don’t usually change what I do have planned out in response to criticism? Sometimes I add in some filler/explanation, or comments inspire me to add thing, but...

I don’t plan things out in a whole lot of detail, but I do usually have a few Major Plot Points worked out, and I tend not to change them because criticism. I usually don’t go back and edit, either.

14) How did you come up with the title for the xxx? - You can ask about multiple stories.

18) Do you have any abandoned WIP’s? What made you abandon them?

Yep, a few. Mostly, I abandon WIPs because I drifted away or otherwise left the fandom (i.e., most of my SPN fic), or otherwise got stuck on a plot point (For Sorrow Sung, which I might rewrite, I got stuck on because I wasn’t sure how to write Roslin; Distaff has stalled because I have to do a Monster chapter next because I did some things out of order; etc., though I actually do intend to get back to Distaff at some point, and am considering rewriting For Sorrow Sung or getting back to some of my other BSG fic...). ...on that note, there are several Stalled WIPs that I don’t consider abandoned, I just get sidetracked by other things even if I intend to get back to them At Some Point (Auxiliaries, Masks, a few others.)

Also, a bunch of miscellaneous self-indulgent things that I never really intended to share outside a small circle of friends that I wander away from when my attention gets caught by a similar shiny self-indulgent thing I don’t really intend to share outside a small circle of friends...

27) Do you make a general outline for your stories or do you just go with the flow?

Moooostly go with the flow. Then again, I don’t formally outline most things, but I generally have an Idea of the Main Plot Points I’m working towards? But those are usually Super Major Things (i.e., with Precipice, when I was going into it, I had most of Arc 1 planned out ahead of time; I knew when and how Lavinia was going to be introduced; I knew most of how Rex got brought in and at least when Ahsoka came in; I knew Ahsoka was going to be Leia’s primary teacher; I knew when and how Specter was going to die; I knew that the reunion (and the attempt to kidnap Lavinia) were going to happen (though actually I was originally planning for Saw to be behind said kidnapping before realizing that didn’t make sense); I knew when Infernalis was going to be introduced and then die; and then some Spoilery Stuff for the next several arcs :)

So, yeah. I usually have a general notion of where things are going (...most of the time; I mentioned Distaff above, and I’m waffling on how I want things to end for that one...) but a loooooot of white space and things are in flux along the way.

33) What’s the biggest compliment you’ve gotten?

Honestly, probably the one I kept in my inbox to reread the most often was on The Promises of Angels--I got a very long comment about the things I’d done with both the focal character and other side characters and the way I’d handled the established lore (and places where canon had fallen short, re: ex-vessels and so on), and then saying they were going to rec it to other people. I’ve gotten other very nice comments since then, (Precipice gets a lot of comments, some of which are lovely, some of which are infuriating), but I think the reason that one sticks with me is because I worked on that fic for so long, and it was a 100k gen epic about a tertiary character who (at the time) had been dead for five seasons. So, a very niche-appeal fic, especially in a fandom that tends to be very shipping-focused, so the fact that it had that much appeal outside of my own brain meant a lot.

(Also, just...the fact that so many people have read and liked Precipice means a whole lot to me????? Was not expecting that for a long wandering genfic epic, lol. ...again, because the fandom I was most active in prior to that is very ship-focused; Star Wars tends to be more gen-friendly, at least that’s been my experience thus far.)

34) What’s the harshest criticism you’ve gotten?

Maybe not the harshest overall I’ve ever gotten, but I mentioned earlier that I took down one LOTR fic because a Canon Purist complained about it to me--I mean, it might not have actually been that mean if I were to get it now that I have a thicker skin, but I was Little Shadowsong at that point and it hurt enough for me to take the fic down, and it does kind of linger in the back of my mind as my Worst Comment Experience.

38) If you could collab with any other writer on here, who would it be? (Perhaps this question will inspire some collabs!) If you’re shy, don’t tag the blog, just name it.

...to be honest, I don’t do a lot of collaborations overall, and most of the ones I do tend to be with people I’ve been friends with/RP’d with for a Long Time.

That being said, I’m possibly open to trying? Right now I have a lot on my plate, both fic and IRL wise, over the next couple months, but if anyone’s interested, hit me up and we’ll see if we can work together!

41) What’s you favourite minor character you’ve written?

In Star Wars? Probably Bo-Katan. I really do wanna finish/start posting our faces like a mirror before the Mandalore Arc actually airs (not that I care about jossing so much, but it’d be nice to Officially lock my canon there so I can point to it if anyone does the whole ‘but canon says!’ thing at me, lol). Also, I love writing Beru, at least the way I write her in Precipice.

If we expand to other fandoms...Nick in SPN, at least before canon brought him back wrong; for BSG...well, most of the ‘minor’ characters I like are really secondary and/or Major in one arc or two--i.e., D’Anna, Gaeta, Ellen Tigh is a lot of fun; in AtLA, I personally mostly wrote major characters and OCs (though some of those were...people who had definitely Existed, but were not named or explored in canon--i.e., Lu Ten’s mother), but my primary RP/writing partner and I worked a lot with Haru and Song and Teo and the Dai Li, among others...but said partner mostly handled them.

44) What is the last line you wrote?

The Masked Man (Who Has Everything) (X-Men: First Class, Erik/Charles, background Hank/Alex): The Batman!Magneto fic, where Magneto is Batman. This has such a far lead on everything else lol but it’s the big ship for a big fandom, and it’s a fusion with another big fandom, so I’m not surprised. I like to think it’s pretty funny, too. Much like Sineala’s most popular fic, I wrote this one pretty quickly, but again given the circumstances it’s not surprising that it’s the top dog.

Keep Throwing Things and Slamming the Door (Marvel 616-based AU, Spideytorch): I am thrilled that my second most popular fic is Spideytorch, though! Last time I filtered my work through kudos I think this came out third of fourth. This is like the first “big” (not as in length, but y’know) Spideytorch fic I posted, and it’s identity porn, which always seems to do well. I have a big soft spot for this one since it was the fic that seemed to start getting the ship some attention, at least from where I was concerned.

leave the gun on the table (MCU/616 fusion, Clint/Bucky): Man, this fic. I’m happy I wrote it, because it taught me a lot about writing a longer fic, but if I was writing it now I’d do a lot different. This was for the Marvel Big Bang and the artist I landed did some stunning pieces, though.

Trials and Tribulations (Young Justice, gen): This is cute trope-y gen fic for a sizable fandom. I am a little surprised at how popular it is, but y’know, it’s Cute.

Say You Will, Say You Won't (Marvel 616, Spideytorch): Fake Married! :D Another big Spideytorch moment for me. It’s marriage of convenience that flirts with identity porn (the world does not know the Human Torch has married Spider-Man, just plain Peter Parker) with bonus Negative Zone angst, so it’s got a trope-y draw. If Keep Throwing Things was the moment I was like, huh, maybe this ship can gain some fandom traction, then Say You Will was the fic that made me sure. (Not being dramatic, but I’ve watched the ship landscape change from 2015 to 2017 and a lot has happened.) Proud of it for making the top 5.

Bottom 5 least popular: 

Wherever I'm With You (FAKE, Ryo/Dee): Yuletide fic for a small manga fandom, canon-and-popular ship. I signed up to write this fandom but didn’t expect to actually land it, but rereading the canon was a lot of fun. (I still think you could make a great live action miniseries adaptation of FAKE.) Gotta say, I’m pretty pleased that my fifth least popular fic has any many kudos as it does. 

a shower of autumn leaves (Tamir Trilogy, Tamir/Ki): Another Yuletide fic, and a treat for my friend Amielleon who I believe got me to read the books in the first place. It’s a canon ship, it’s for a rare book fandom, etc. 

Enjoy The Trip (See You Next Fall) (Squirrel Girl/Nextwave crossover): It’s a crossover! Between Squirrel Girl and Nextwave! IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO BE AS FUNNY IN THE VOICE OF EITHER OF THOSE SERIES, LET ALONE BOTH AT THE SAME TIME but some people told me I succeeded and I choose to believe them.

In Distress (Fire Emblem 10, Pelleas/Micaiah): It’s a het rarepair AU ficlet for an older video game fandom, I’m not shocked.

And Go Seek (Kingdom Hearts, gen): I just barely remember writing this. It’s very short. They play hide and seek on the beach. That’s it. That’s the whole fic.

Keep Throwing Things and Slamming the Door (616-based AU)

Kind, Sober, and Fully Dressed (616): Picks up right after the time in canon where Johnny asks Peter if he wants to come over and watch his sex tape with him, because what was I supposed to do, NOT write a fic continuing on from there? PS WHY DID MARVEL PUBLISH A COMIC WHERE AT THE END JOHNNY ASKS PETER IF HE WANTS TO COME OVER AND WATCH HIS SEX TAPE. Then they hid it on Marvel Unlimited, where it took 5 years for Spideytorch fandom to discover. Cruel, Marvel. Anyway, this one was a lot of fun to write. I’m a little surprised it’s as high up as it is, but I guess “character canonically asked best friend over to watch his sex tape, here’s what happens NEXT” is a pretty good hook, and I think I chose a good couple of lines for the summary.

Getting Better All the Time (616): Say You Will, Say You Won’t’s sequel! I had so much fun writing this fic, and on top of that it was so easy to write, too. Johnny and celebrity is always one of my favorite subjects to look at. It’s the sequel to my second most popular fic, it’s on the longer side for fics for this ship, and it’s about them being MARRIED, so I guess it makes sense that it’s up so high.

Tales From The Back Pages (616): The soulmate AU! I think this one has the trope advantage -- out of all the top 5, it’s by far the newest. I always told myself if I was ever going to write a soulmate AU for them, I’d want to play into the identity porn and have Johnny speak his first words to Spider-Man, but Peter without the mask speak his first words to Johnny. Then I looked back at their first meetings and realized that in ASM #1, Spider-Man never directly addresses Johnny, and this was, in fact, exactly how it happened, and then I had to write it. (A later Fantastic Four comic has them talk directly to each other during the first meeting, but hey, I don’t have to count retcons.) First time writing a soulmate AU and it was fun to play with.

Bottom 5

Second Chance (What If?/Marvel Adventures/Marvel Noir/616): A five times first kisses fic featuring the multiverse. This one’s fairly new, and the summary’s pretty bare bones, and I don’t know if it was as fun to read as it was fun for me to write, since I just really like playing around with different versions of canon. I almost wrote a Marvel Zombies first kiss, which I would have definitely gotten disgusting with. Romantic. But disgusting.

Echoes (616): A little Uncanny Avengers #12 tag where Johnny has complicated, guilty feelings about his hand in the death of Hank Pym, and doesn’t tell Peter about them while they cuddle on the couch. Not surprised this one is on the low side -- it’s better if you’ve read the issue, and it’s just short, plotless hurt/comfort where nothing happens but Johnny is sad. (I really like writing Johnny being sad. Sorry.)

the length and breadth of the sea (Marvel 1602): This is the prequel to my first 1602 Spideytorch and it’s another one of those fics where if I was writing it now I’d probably write it a little different. It’s a little older for Spideytorch fic (2012), and it’s for a niche version of canon, so I’m not surprised. On the other hand, it IS tagged #dinosaurs, which you think would be incentive.

Hands On (616): The six arms Spider-Man smut! This is new, only about a week old, so it explains why it’s so low. Then again it is a PWP about Peter having six arms and Johnny being turned on by that, so uh, maybe that’s why it’s low.

the lay of your lands (Marvel 1602): And my first 1602 fic! Another one I would write a little differently if I was doing it over again. For one, I didn’t pay enough attention to important 1602 details, like Namor wanting to make Sue and Johnny undersea sex slaves. The summary’s pretty bare bones, it’s a niche canon, it’s established relationship that’s only 2k, and I didn’t tag it #dinosaurs, even though I’m pretty sure there’s pterodactyls in it. That probably explains it.
