Could not help myself after I saw the Wally Actor AU! AAAAAH so I’m creating this, because I can. I know I should be focusing on red phone, but this next chapter is going to take a bit dudes. So here is this.
“Are you Y/n? my newest inturne?” Their stood infront of you the person or puppet you would be learning from. Julie, from the show welcome home. You had never though a puppet would let you be their intern, Let alone on the show Your nieces and nephues adored but by some mircal you got the job.
“yesh! It’s a pleasure to meet you  Julie Joyful! I’m very excited to work with you and help you with what ever you need! I look forward to learning from you as well Ma’am!”
“Oh don’t worry about formalities! Just call me Julie, Now I do need you to do me a small favour.” My eyes light up when she says this, I know interns are sometimes treated like dogs, but I didn’t care too much since this would be amazing on my resume.
“Sure thing Julie!” She gives me a small smile and her card.
“I would like a Carmel Frappuccino, with sprinkles and two pumps of vanila please! If you could et it here in at least 30 minutes would be-“ “NO Problem ma’am! I’ll get it right away!” I say rushing out the door, to get back in my car and drive to the nearest Starbucks. Ever since I was a kid I wanted to be to work in film, But I wasn’t smart enough too get in to collage. But I was able to do a tafe course and work my way up from their. I’m still shocked she even hired me.
Getting out of the car and into the Starbucks a sigh, seeing the huge line.
“Oh god…” ----
“I wounder where my new intern is.”
“Intern?” Wally asks Julie a little confused, she had never mentioned any intern to him. Let alone hriing one.
“Yes! I just got her today, I saw her before and asked her to get me my drink but she a little late. I hope she’s alright!” Julie says, sighing Wally was not happy with this at all. Late on the first day and why wasn’t he told about this? They where probably just another human looking down on  them. Thinking they could exploit poor Julie.
“MISS JOYFUL I HAVE YOUR DRINK!” The two puppets turn to see who was yelling, it was none other than her new intern! She was sweaty and holding an ice cold drink in her hands.
“I’m so sorry Miss Joyful! There was a massive line! And they stuffed up the order the first time so i-“ “Awe thank you Y/n! it’s no problem I understand, and please call me Julie!”
“Yes Ms. Julie is their anything else I can help you with?” she asks Wally rises an eyebrow at her a little, noticing her good posture and how she kept her hands together in the front folded nicely on top of each other.
“Could you get me some banana bread from the table? Wally, would you like anything?”
“Just a chocolate muffin cut into 4 slices and a silver knife, I can taste it when it’s wood.” Wally says this was a test honestly, he knew that she wouldn’t be able to keep up this good shared for too long. She’s probably heard from the other crew how much of an ass he is and is only being nice to get on his good side.
“No problem, Sir, I’ll get them for you guys!” Y/n stands about to leave before Julie calls out to her.
“And get yourself something! I don’t want you passing out on me!”
“Oh! Sure thing!” she finally leaves.
“Isn’t she adorable! She has a pretty good resume as well!”
“how so?”
“Well, she has done a cert 3 in childcare! So, she has a blue card! She worked in customer service for 4 years! She loved film though her G.P.A is low she worked very hard to be here! Her dream is to work in the film industry-“
“Acting?” Wally asks taking a sip of his mineral water with a lime in it.
“Nope!”
“Then why is her your intern?”
“Well, she said she wants to learn all aspects, she was very eager in the interview my agent said! And all employees described her as hard working!” Julie explains, Julie’s agent wasn’t a ray of sunshine, she would make Julie do some adds she didn’t like and use to force them to model on the side. That was before Wally straightened her out. Would she be happening to do this do make him angry?
“it took my a while to find a Silver Knife but I did! I brought a little butter thing just incase. I didn’t know if you wanted it buttered sorry!” Y/n says handing both of them what they asked for, She even gave wally a Metal fork. He was honestly a little shocked and weirder out.
“This is good! Thank you would you like to sit and watch with us?” Y/n was taken aback HELL WALLY WAS TAKEN ABACK.
“o-oh umm thank you yes please.” Y/n moves from the middle of them to Julie’s left and takes a seat on the ground, she opens the old bottle of water and takes a sip.
“Awe scared of me sugar?” Wally asks teasingly, Julie chuckles along as Y/n face heats up and eye widen.
“OH NO SIR! I DIDN’T MEAN TOO! I JUST-““ I don’t bite!” this embarrasses Y/n further and makes Julie crack up more.
“I- um. I know I just thought-““oh ignore him Y/n! he just teasing he does it to every one! OH my your redder then a tomato!”
“Or a apple!” the two continue to laugh while Y/n left their, but she doesn’t seem to mind all of that. She instead focus her attention on to the set. Soon enough the two puppet go on and talk about something else. That’s when she notices someone struggling with something.
“And then I heard-“ “Excuse me Ms Julie is it okay if I help that poor fella?”
“Oh yes of course, you can do what ever as long as you’re here when I call for you!” Y/n nods and quickly goes to the guy to help him lift the fake trees.
“Hey, let me help you with that!” Y/n says grabbing two of the trees from his arms, The guy looks confused at first but gladly takes the help.
“Thanks, we need to move these over here.” “No problem!” The two walks to the side and place the trees there. She dusts off her hands off from the and a joyful smile can be seen on her face.
“Which department are you in? by any chance?” The employee asks her,
“Oh, I’m the new intern for Julie Joyful I’m Y/n nice to meet you.” Y/n puts her hand forward to shake.
“Jack, you work with the puppets? Good luck ha-ha! See ya later kid.” He says walking. Y/n shows a face of confusion and tilt of the head as he walks away, but she walks back to her new boss.

The sun shone brightly over the convention center, the warm rays casting a golden hue on the gathering crowd. It was your first Supernatural convention, and the excitement buzzed in the air, mingling with the hum of conversation and the occasional burst of laughter. Your best friend, Emma, had managed to score tickets, and both of you had been counting down the days eagerly.
Dressed in a Dean Winchester cosplay, complete with a leather jacket and a slightly scruffy look, you felt an exhilarating blend of nerves and excitement. Emma, channeling her inner Castiel, adjusted her trench coat and gave you a reassuring smile.
"We're finally here!" Emma exclaimed, her eyes sparkling. "This is going to be epic!"
You nodded, unable to suppress your grin. "I've been dreaming about this day for years."
The convention hall was a sea of Supernatural-themed booths, selling everything from T-shirts to replica weapons. Fans milled about, some dressed as their favorite characters, others just basking in the shared love for the show.
You and Emma wandered around, taking in the sights and sounds. You marveled at the intricate cosplays, posed for pictures, and picked up a few souvenirs. The schedule for the day was packed with panels, signings, and photo ops. But the highlight, the part you were most excited for, was the panel with Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles.
The auditorium was packed, the energy palpable as fans eagerly awaited the arrival of the stars. You and Emma found seats near the front, your hearts racing with anticipation. The lights dimmed, and a roar of applause filled the room as Jared and Jensen took the stage.
Jared's presence was magnetic. His tall frame, easy smile, and infectious energy filled the room. As he and Jensen bantered back and forth, sharing behind-the-scenes stories and answering fan questions, you felt a deep admiration for their camaraderie and genuine love for their fans.
When the Q&A session began, you hesitated, but Emma nudged you encouragingly. Summoning your courage, you raised your hand. To your shock, Jared pointed at you.
"Yes, you in the Dean cosplay," he said, his eyes twinkling with amusement.
You stood up, your heart pounding. "Hi, Jared, Jensen. First of all, thank you for everything you do. My question is, what's been the most memorable moment for you both while filming the show?"
Jared and Jensen shared a look before Jensen replied, "Honestly, there have been so many. But I'd say one of the most memorable was filming the 200th episode. It was a huge milestone for us and the entire crew."
Jared nodded in agreement. "Yeah, that was definitely up there. But for me, it's the fans. Every convention, every encounter, reminds me how special this show is because of all of you."
The audience erupted in applause, and you felt a surge of warmth and connection. This was more than just a show; it was a community.
After the panel, you and Emma decided to explore more of the convention. As you were browsing through a booth selling Supernatural-themed jewelry, you felt a tap on your shoulder. Turning around, you were met with the sight of Jared Padalecki himself.
"Hey," he said with a grin. "I just wanted to thank you for your question earlier. It really got me thinking."
You blinked, momentarily speechless. "Thank you, Jared. That means a lot."
Emma, ever the supportive friend, nudged you subtly. "We're huge fans," she said, her voice filled with enthusiasm. "This is our first convention."
Jared's smile widened. "Well, I'm glad I could be a part of it. You both look fantastic, by the way. Love the cosplays."
Your cheeks flushed with pride. "Thanks! We put a lot of effort into them."
He chatted with you both for a few more minutes, asking about your favorite episodes and characters. The conversation flowed naturally, and you felt an incredible sense of ease talking to him. Before he left, he handed you a small card.
"There's an after-party tonight for some of the fans. I'd love it if you both could come. Just show this at the door."
You stared at the card, hardly believing your luck. "Thank you so much, Jared. We’ll definitely be there."
As he walked away, Emma squealed in delight. "This day just keeps getting better!"
The after-party was held in a nearby hotel ballroom, transformed into a Supernatural-themed wonderland. The lighting was low, casting an intimate glow over the room filled with fans, cosplayers, and a few of the show's cast and crew.
You and Emma entered, flashing the card Jared had given you. The security guard nodded and let you through. The atmosphere was lively, with people dancing, chatting, and enjoying the themed drinks and snacks.
You spotted Jared near the bar, talking with some fans. He saw you and waved you over. "You made it!"
"We wouldn't miss it," you said, trying to keep your cool.
Emma nudged you playfully. "We still can't believe this is happening."
Jared chuckled. "Well, believe it. You both deserve it. Now, how about a drink?"
The night continued with laughter, conversation, and a few rounds of drinks. Jared introduced you to some of the other cast members, and you found yourself in awe of how down-to-earth and friendly everyone was.
As the party wound down, Jared pulled you aside. "It was great meeting you both today. I hope you had an unforgettable time."
You smiled, feeling a mix of gratitude and disbelief. "This has been beyond anything we could have imagined. Thank you, Jared."
He gave you a warm hug. "Take care, and keep being awesome fans."
As you and Emma left the party, you felt a sense of euphoria. The convention had been everything you dreamed of and more. Meeting Jared Padalecki was the cherry on top, an experience you would cherish forever.
Emma wrapped an arm around your shoulders. "Best. Day. Ever."
You nodded in agreement, a content smile on your face. "Absolutely."

Summary: You got casted as Alys Rivers, also known as Aemond Targaryen’s love interest. As you continue to work with Ewan, you become close with him but you couldn’t help but wonder that he doesn’t really like you because of how closed off he seems from you. However you learn the truth at a party….
You smiled while pushing back a strand of the dark haired wig as they set up the scene on the Harrenhal set. You were a little nervous joining the cast of House of the Dragon, but everyone seemed to be so friendly and welcome you with open arms.
You were playing the role of Alys Rivers, the bastard daughter to Lord Lyonel Strong and the love interest to Prince Aemond Targaryen. You honestly didn’t think you were going to get the role but after reading the book and studying the character, you were confident.
“Hey,” You greeted with a small smile seeing Ewan coming over in his Aemond get up, donned with the black and gold armor from the book and his signature eyepatch.
Ewan returned your smile and looked down. He always seemed to have that nervous little tick and you found it absolutely adorable. He nodded a bit in response and looked over when the director walked over to describe the upcoming scene.
You enjoyed having most of your scenes with Ewan, knowing there were to be more in the upcoming seasons as well. He was a wonderful actor, although he always seemed a bit put off by you. He was friendly, but he rarely spoke around you. You have gotten him to open up a few times and you enjoyed his company though.
“Hey!” You heard a familiar voice call once the director left you and Ewan alone.
You turned and smiled, waving at the sight of Tom and Phia, already dressed as Aegon and Helaena for the day. "Hey, guys!"
"So, I don't know if our cute little Ewan here," Tom began, wrapping an arm around Ewan's shoulders who chuckled. "But we are going out tonight for a little cast party and we would love for you to come. Mainly because you support the Green cause of course."
You giggled, copying Tom by wrapping an arm around Phia. The two of you were close although you had no scenes together. She was always cheery and outgoing and you knew you could count on her if you needed anything.
"Well, I would do anything for the Green cause," You replied with a small smirk.
"Yay!" Phia exclaimed with a giggle passing her lips as she wrapped both of her arms around you. "Let me come and pick you up tonight, okay?"
You smiled and nodded, your eyes wandering over to Ewan, Tom's arm still around him. "Seven sounds good."
Tom smirked and looked up at Ewan as you and Phia walked away for a bit to discuss about tonight. "Are you ever going to open up to her, Mitchell?"
Ewan smiled, letting his eye wander over you while your back was turned before he blew out a breath. "Eventually."
"You are never going to get her if you can't get past small talk," He teased and laughed when Ewan pushed him.
"Shut up," Ewan replied laughing before he let out a breath, looking back over to you with furrowed brows.

“Do I look okay?”
Phia looked over as she fixed her blue top with a small smile. "You look beautiful as always," She replied before tilting her head. "You look a little nervous, trying to impress anyone?" She asked with a slightly taunting tone to her voice.
You rolled your eyes but you couldn't help the blush that was creeping onto your cheeks. "I'm not trying to impress anyone," You replied a bit sheepishly while you looked back in the mirror to fix your hair.
Phia smirked lightly and let out a small hum. "Whatever you say, Y/N."
You looked over at her noticing the knowing look she had on her features. You thought you were good when it came to hiding your feelings for Ewan, although you couldn't help but think he doesn't really like you. The two of you were the only ones that seemed to be oblivious to each other's feelings, not even realizing that Tom and Phia were trying to play matchmaker.
"Come on," You said taking your jacket with a small laugh. "We're going to be late."
"You know what they say," Phia began hooking her arm with yours. "Only the best show up fashionably late."
The party seemed lively by the time you and Phia showed up. Your eyes scanned the scene noticing how everyone was mingling although the butterflies erupted in your stomach as soon as you saw Ewan standing with Tom. Ewan always had that effect on you.
Phia smirked as she looked over you noticing where your eyes were wandering. "Why don't we go and say hi to the boys?" She offered, nudging you a bit.
You snapped back into reality while you looked back at your friend. You smiled and shook your head. "I'm going to go get a drink. Do you want anything?"
Phia slowly nodded with a small smile. "I'm okay. Go and get a drink then we'll meet up."
You nodded while blowing out a breath as you watched her make her way over to the boys. You couldn't help but furrow your brows at the way Ewan's face lit up when Phia walked over and pulled her into a hug. He seemed so happy with her. You shook off the nerves and took a deep breath while heading over to the bar to get yourself a margarita.

As the night went on, you stayed in a corner a bit quiet. You were shy around everyone even if they accepted you with open arms. You couldn’t help but keep looking over at Ewan who seemed deep in conversation with Phia. Of course they were comfortable with each other, having worked together on the last season. You were new and still getting to know everyone.
“Everything okay?”
You jumped slightly seeing Tom next to you. “Oh my god, you scared me.”
Tom chuckled while wrapping an arm around you. “I’m like a ninja,” He said with a wink before sighing softly. “You just looked lonely, love. Besides, you won’t stop looking at Ewan all night.”
You felt your cheeks heat up and looked down with furrowed brows. “Is it that obvious?”
“Very,” Tom replied with a small smile. “You think you hide the looks you give him but it’s so very obvious.” He laughed when your cheeks became redder. “Why don’t you go and talk to him?”
“Because.” You groaned a bit. “It’s not easy to just talk to someone that you have feelings for.”
“Oh, come on. You two are going to have a bedroom scene together. Why not practice now?” He teased and laughed when you hit his chest. “I mean, you never know his feelings until you talk to him.”
You frowned a bit. “But, him and Phia clearly seem comfortable with each other.”
Tom chuckled a bit at the slight tone of jealousy in your voice. “Just go and give it a shot, Y/N.”
You sighed looking up at the blonde man before slowly nodding. You began to walk over with Tom, smiling at the two.
“You can do it,” You heard Phia whisper to Ewan causing you to furrow your brows.
Ewan let out a nervous sigh while looking over at you. “Y/N…I was wondering….” He began looking down at his hands. “I was wondering if you wanted to go on a date with me. I just…I really like you and I want to get to know you better….” He began to ramble looking back up at you.
You smiled lightly, finding his rambling to be adorable. You nodded while taking his hands in yours. “I would love to,” You said feeling the butterflies in your stomach fluttering around.
Ewan returned your smile. “Great! How about…next Saturday at seven?”
“Sounds like a date,” You replied and giggled when Phia and Tom erupted in cheers. You couldn’t help but blush wondering what this could lead to between you and your costar.

Deadline’s On Location Goes Behind The Scenes Of ‘Mayans M.C.’ As FX’s Mayans M.C. wraps its final season tonight, Deadline has your exclusive look at the penultimate day of filming in Santa Clarita, California. As the sets were being broken down to make way for a new production in the future, series co-creator Elgin James celebrated Crew Appreciation Day alongside stars J.D. Pardo, Clayton Cardenas, Carla Baratta, Emilio Rivera, Sarah Bolger, J.R. Bourne, Edward James Olmos, Gino Vento, Emily Tosta, Andrew Jacobs and Alex Barone. Maverick James who played Maverick Reyes, son of Adelita (Baratta) and Angel (Cardenas), was also part of the celebration as was Baratta’s son Diego who was inside her belly during the show’s second season and was worked into the storyline. For the festivities, the grounds were colorfully decorated and food trucks were serving the hungry and excited masses. Pardo and Rivera hosted a raffle giving away kuttes from both Sons of Anarchy and Mayans M.C. leaving it to the discretion of the winners. Bourne watched with a wide grin as the majority picked Mayans over his SAMCRO. Other popular items that were up for grabs included masks worn by Los Olvidados, M.C. patches framed and ready to be hung, as well as motorcycle helmets. Although an ice cream truck was on site, the Dominican cake brought by Tosta which was emblazoned with the show’s logo and other pastries was a crowd favorite. I should note that I visited the set on May 1, the day before the writers strike was announced. Although we had planned to include interviews here from the cast, the WGA is currently on its 79th day and SAG-AFTRA is on its sixth day of striking against the AMPTP for fair wages and AI protections among other important points leaving the writers and actors unable to promote projects. Nevertheless, we’re sharing the photo gallery as a hat tip to the fan-favorite series. Part of my tour included ample time checking out the motorcycles, which were cared for by picture bike captain, Nico Cope. He worked on the show for all 5 seasons in addition to credits on Peacock’s Mrs. Davis and TNT’s I Am The Night which starred Chris Pine. Much to Alvarez’s chagrin, I found one of his personal bikes stored in Cope’s garage and pretended to take it out for a spin— as if Cope would’ve ever allowed it. In the gallery, there’s a photo of Cope posing with Angel’s bike. I also got to spend time among all the cool kuttes and threads worn by the cast with a little help from costume supervisor Danny Vick. A box full of motorcycle boots was inside a box to be returned as they were rentals. I attempted to casually walk away wearing someone’s kutte but was told they were all accounted for. Just about every important set was still intact except for the inside of Felipe’s house and Coco’s (Richard Cabral) old house where Letty (Tosta) lived with Hope (Vanessa Giselle). The clubhouse was a standout because it was full of little touches not obvious to viewers. EZ’s trailer, much like the clubhouse, had an exterior look for cameras on the lot and a set inside for the interiors. I checked the kitchen for his one knife, fork and spoon but with Sofia living with him, the silverware was plentiful. As I walked to the party after the tour, I noticed two women clearing the area of two dead bodies inside their respective body bags. I had no idea how the series would end at the time, but now that I do I’m wondering who all was inside. Pip Gets High and Writes an Essay: Wrestling and Shakespeare Edition
Hello friends, today was stressful and I want to distract myself, so it is time for another writing-while-high game. For those new, here's the breakdown:
I'm about to take an edible. I'll time stamp when I took it and when I've realized it's hit. You will almost certainly realize it's hit before me
I will write this in one go with minimal editing. If I got back to edit or add a note, it will be from "Pip From the Future" who will be significantly more high
This is a topic I've thought about before, but have never sat down to write out
Additional notes:
I was super into wrestling when I was a kid in the 90s/early 2000s, fell off of it, and then was reintroduced this January when my boyfriend got me into AEW (I'm almost entirely going to be talking about AEW btw--I'm not as into WWE). So though it's become a significant hyperfixation this year, I'm still new to modern-day wrestling. Please forgive the inevitable mess ups.
2. I love Shakespeare with a passion and have taken a handful of classes and seen a lot of performances, but I'm by no means a scholar. Please forgive the inevitable mess ups.

Wrestling is More Shakespearean Than Many Modern Day Shakespeare Performances
Part 1: When the Audience is a Character, Theatre Hits Different
I wrote about this in my previous weed-induced essay, but one of my favorite performances of A Midsummer Night's Dream of all time is the 2019 Bridge Theatre's version with Gwendolyn Christie (it was filmed, highly recommend checking it out on the National Theatre streaming service or...by other means). There's a whole lot to love about the production (it's so gay, guys, like SO gay), but one of the absolute highlights is the way that the stage is set up.
The stage is like theatre-in-the-round on crack. It's made up of multiple moving parts, and as the tech crew attaches and detaches parts of the stage to move throughout the space, the crowd needs to ebb and flow along with them. The actors engage directly with the audience, often as the catalyst to get them to move in order to make way for the stage changing.
Anyone who's ever studied Shakespeare, even in the most casual of ways, knows that in the original productions, especially for the Comedies, the audience was encouraged to interact with the show and actors--it was deeply immersive. The Globe Theatre isn't fully in the round, but it almost is; no matter where someone sat or stood, they could see the face of another audience member. Their shared reactions and interactions were an integral part of the experience.
This wasn't unique to Shakespeare, but this setup works particularly well when dealing with stories whose core (no matter the genre) are about visceral human experiences. Being able to feel something, whether it's joy or pain, and directly see someone else experiencing the same thing in the same way amplifies theatre in a gorgeous way. There's nothing like that feeling of connection with someone you'll never talk to.
Seeing the recorded Bridge Theatre's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream made me realize how much I missed that feeling of being completely immersed in a story, and I still feel so jealous when I watch the audience in the recording. I fucking love being surrounded by people whose bodies thrum along with my energy at a show. Shortly after watching it, I went to see a live performance of A Winter's Tale, and it was a good time--but it was on a normal stage, the barrier between the audience and the story well established. It was a show being performed at the audience, not with them.
And that's how most modern day theatre productions are, Shakespeare or not. And it makes sense from a logistics perspective--a lot of people are assholes when they're given the freedom to interact with a show. They take advantage, especially in the age of social media when the temptation to do something to make you go viral is there. And people pay a lot of money for live theatre now and don't want their experience disrupted. (it's high Pip from the future--I finally realized the thing I wanted to say here that was going to make for a better segue: Shakespeare doesn't just love the idea of an immersed audiences, he also saw the magic of "audience as character." So many of his plays break the fourth wall and are meant to be delivered to the audience not as performance but as someone sharing their deepest secrets to a friend). I get it, but in some ways it feels like an opportunity at magic is lost.
UNTIL I GOT INTO THE BIG MEATY MEN SLAPPIN' MEAT
It wasn't hard to sell me on wrestling since I already loved it as a kid, but there was one video in particular that my boyfriend showed me that flipped the switch so hard my brain lit up like Mark Briscoe got a hold of the pyrotechnics.
The video in question is Invisible Man vs. Invisible Stan, in which two invisible wrestlers fight each other. When my boyfriend first told me about this, I thought two dudes in green suits were going to come out, or that everybody was going to pretend they couldn't see two real-life dudes. But my guys IT IS A FULL FIGHT BETWEEN TWO IMAGINARY WRESTLERS.
I'm not kidding in the least when I say this video is one of my top favorite pieces of art from the modern world. It's a story told entirely by two entities: The referee (Bryce Remsburg) and the audiences. And yeah, I'm considering the audience one entity--just watch the video, the way they all meld together is WILD. The crowd is fully bought in, they all take cues off of Bryce and each other in order to collectively decide where the Invisible Man and Invisible Stan are and they move accordingly. That bit where one of the wrestlers goes up to the balcony and jumps down, and like 10 people all fall in unison as if they've been landed on--are you KIDDING ME?! That shit is some of the best improvisational collaborative storytelling I've ever seen--and it could never have happened if the audience wasn't as much of a character as Bryce or the wrestlers. Seriously go watch it, it's incredible.
"The audience is a character" is a sacred rule in pro wrestling--audience participation is the meat of what moves storylines along, and can (and has) literally change(d) the course of character arcs over the years. They set the tone for matches: for the audience back home, for the actors, and most importantly for each other. They chant together, they hold signs together, they gasp together.
(They chant "he's gay he's gay he's gay" in the kindest way those words have ever been spoken -- high Pip from the future, i went to go grab the link to insert bc i had forgot and i rewatched the video so the rest of this video.........this is not a video, but it's playing in my head as one. Anyway I'm tearing up that is such a good gay moment. Also for non-wrestling people reading this -- why are you reading this? -- that tall blonde man is named Daddy Ass. I need you all to go look up the story of how "Scissor me, Daddy Ass" came to be if you do not know it. Unrelated my keyboard feels like it's tilting)
They give the ability for actors to feel more immersed, themselves. A wild crossover I never expected: Anthony Burch (DM for Dungeons & Daddies) held up a sign for a Kenny Omega match that references a years-long storyline that's HONESTLY HEARTBREAKING LIKE JESUS FUCK THE GAY TEARS IT MAKES ME CRY THEY CALLED THEMSELVES THE GOLDEN LOVERS ARE YOU *KIDDING* ME--
(Aside: Is this the first time the edible hits and I realize the same time as you guys? Time 11:17pm, almost an hour after taking it. Or am I going to read this back tomorrow and be like "what the fuck that is gibberish.")

Anyway, I'm not going to go into it (that's Super Eyepatch Wolf's job)--all you need to know is Anthony's sign stopped Kenny Omega in his tracks. His face changes as he sees the sign, and it feels like the energy from that reaction carries him through the rest of the match. It gives a beautiful additional motivation to his character actions--and it never could have happened without an audience that was alive.
TL;DR and main point of part 1: Wrestling understands theatre-in-the-round productions and audience immersion in a way that many theatres don't understand or utilize the vast power of, and I think going to a live wrestling show would finally sate that desire that the Bridge Theatre's A Midsummer Nights Dream makes me feel that I haven't been able to find.
Shakespeare would fucking lose his shit over wrestling, man. He would be like "this is real theatre, baby." I'm not joking. I think he'd think that. And not just because of the "audience as character." OH HEY WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT

Part 2: Good Wrestling Stories Are Fueled By a Core Made of Visceral Human Experiences of Joy and Pain and Mortality and Legacy, Shakespeare also did that
Nailed it, what a good title
When we talk about Shakespeare not being as high bro and pretentious as the general public often thinks it is, we're not just talking about the dick jokes (though there's a lot of dick jokes).
(Aside: I'm not sure who the "we" is I'm referring to--who the fuck am i to be using academic talk i literally just spent too long that i want to admit trying to spell academic)
(Aside again: aHIGHed. Is that anything? That's nothing. Don't look at me)
Shakespeare isn't just low-brow, it's also incredibly accessible on a story level. Obviously the language is hard to overcome, but if you boil any Shakespeare story to its bones to explain to someone, they're stories almost everyone can relate to in some way:
In the tragedies:
The experience of deep grief, and the existential crisis of mortality that comes with it
Loving deeply and passionately while the world tells you it's better to hate, and the existential crisis of mortality that comes with it
The desire for legacy, how your story will be written in the minds of those left behind, and the existential crisis of mortality that comes with it
In the comedies:
The hilarity of being part of a friend group when relationship drama is going down, and you know two of your friends have a crush on each other
Having a fantasy about romping around with horny faeries in the forest
Enjoying sex jokes, twins, and weddings
Doing trans shit and then being really bisexual about it
Good wrestling, when it boils down to it, approaches storylines in a similar way of centering visceral human emotions.
So which genre is wrestling? It can be sad and happy and gay, sometimes all at once.
Wait I thought of a funnier way to say this:
Broke: Wrestling can't be put into a Shakespeare genre of Tragedy or Comedy because it's both at times
Woke: Wresting is a History
(Aside: GOD this is like the core of what I wanted to write about but it's almost midnight and I am p r o p e r high now, I keep staring off into space and my beanie is squeezing my head--if you like this next part and want me to talk about it more maybe i'll do it sober)
(Aside: I was about to go into a full aside here about Prince Nana and the ongoing bit from multiple characters that they want his weed...but we don't have time for that)
My favorite Shakespearean monologue is the "Let's talk of graves, of worms, and epitaphs" speech from King Richard II. I have those first words tattooed on my upper thigh, like some kind of pretentious slut. Anyway, the monologue is all about how kings only become kings and stop being kings due to one main thing: death. And there's this part that goes:
For within the hollow crown that rounds the mortal temples of a king keeps death his court
In a recording of Ian McKellen receiting these words, he takes a crown and tilts it at the audience until it becomes an O.
A crown is something that's coveted, given so much weight and meaning and power. And yet when you look in the middle, it's ultimately hollow.
Belts are crowns, you got I was going there, right? A wrestling belt is a stand in for a crown, it's a symbol of proven power, it's coveted beyond anything else. But ultimately, it's hollow.
And just like with kings, there's only way one to win a belt and to lost a belt.
Well like metaphorically. It's not death with this one, and it's not like when wrestlers lose their characters die off. But like defeat is a metaphor for death in this. You get me.

Fuck my brain is fully breaking friends, lol. This weed friend has sent my mind to space. I gotta wrap it. There's some more thoughts on this, and wanting to tie some parallel stories (Orange Cassidy has big Prince Hal vibes, etc.) Maybe I'll return to this sober, or maybe this is way too niche of a crossover and no one will read this lol. Baz Luhrmann was making an Elvis biopic and after having found Austin as his Elvis, he desperately needed to find himself a Priscilla. You had sent in an audition tape but never thought it would get you here, on the set and ready to film. I mean, everything felt unreal and you were extremely out of your comfort zone.
You had been filming for a couple of months now, but you've never felt as nervous and terrified as you're feeling at this very moment. Baz had informed you a week prior that today you would be doing the argument between Priscilla and Elvis. Nevertheless, it was now when you're getting ready for the scene that it's finally settling in.
You were pasing back and forth mumbling your lines, when Baz informed everyone that the cameras were ready. You and Austin walked on the set and smiled at each other, knowing that this scene was difficult for both of you.
"And...Action!"
"Cilla, I give you everything you could want" Austin followed you down the stairs
"What I wan't is a husband!" You turned around facing him. Austin had such a raw expression on his face, his acting always seemed to amaze you. However, here you were finding it extremelly hard to channel Priscilla.
"I- I-" You froze. Well done, Y/n, you forgot your lines. Not only are you a horrible actress but you also have a shitty memory. That's when you felt a warm hand on your shoulder.
"Y/n, did you forget your line?" Worry covered Austin's face "Did I do something wrong?"
"I- No, I just- I need some air" You dropped your prop, walked quickly past the crew. You opened a door and found yourself in the parking lot. You had never used this exit before and god it was freezing.
You began to spiral, thinking of the beautiful set you just walked out off, the incredible costumes you wore everyday. How are you even here right now? How did Baz even pick you? An amateur actress, who's never even stepped in a drama school once. You felt embarassed being on that set with such an amazing actor such as Austin, who is so dedicated to his craft. You didn't deserve this.
"Y/n, what happened back there?" Austin had at last found you.
"Austin.." you sighed looking down at your bell-bottom jeans
"Hey," he grabbed your shaking hand, rubbing circles on your cold skin "You can talk to me"
"I don't think I want to, Aus-" Your cheeks heated up, suddenly feeling embarrassed of saying anything
"You know, you're cute when you're like this- All stubborn" Austin smirked at you. Not in a condescending way but in a comforting one.
"I'm not stubborn I just-" You giggled a little, your mood getting better just by looking at him
"Yeah? I don't believe ya hun"
"Austin!" You groaned, knowing that talking to someone about your feelings was the best thing you could do right now.
"Y/n!" He said back, teasing you like he always did
"Fine, fine! Jeez- I just think that, you know, perhaps Baz made a mistake casting me and-"
"Hey, hey, hey- Why would you think that Y/n? You deserve to be here, you got the part because there's no one like you out there"
"But-"
"No but's, Y/n" He looked down at you with so much appreciation that you felt like crying "You know I love working with you. You're one of the most talented people I've ever met-"
"You mean that?" Your face lit up, making Austin smile as well
"Of course I do- Now go back on that set and show them what you got, yeah?"
"Yeah"

the flowers
this is a snippet from the famous dc!au that started with The Greatest Hits [read here]  you don’t have to read it but a lot of things would make sense if you do! 
it isn't until about a year after you've wrapped the film and a few months after it's premiered that you find out the truth. And it does send you for a loop. The matter of it, and how you end up finding out.
You are sitting at a table for two. Your date for the evening? Delores. She had texted that she was working a job where you were and wanted to meet up and chat. You were so down, already terribly missing her even though you hadn't stepped on another set yet.
And that's what you talked about at first. How scared you were that now the movie was out, you were getting offers left and right. But deep down you didn't know if you were good enough. In your mind you thought that your success came from a lot of things and mainly one of them being luck.
You have no prior experience with acting. And now everyone is acting like you do because you were able to do well in one movie. You wanted to make sure you weren't a one hit wonder.
Delores of course talked you down from all this. She told you how good the movie was, how good you were for a first-time actor. She even offered you some contacts that knew of acting coaches.
Then you turned the conversation on her, which she was very scarce about. Apparently the film she's working on had her sign an NDA. She couldn't even tell you what kind of makeup she used on set today. It was that tight lipped.
So you moved on from that and asked her about her life. Delores is the proud mom of two cats (Ginger and Lemon). And they go with her everywhere. She brought them to set a couple of times when there weren't a lot of crew around. You liked Lemon the most because he liked getting head pats from you.
When the food came you two still managed to talk. You didn't realize how much you could talk while eating but with Delores it was normal. She's family.
The night wrapped up and Delores headed to the bathroom. It's when she came back and talked about wrap day that started this whole endeavor.
"Oh and those flowers you got me! I tell ya no one has ever gotten me something so colorful before." she smiles.
You can't help to laugh, "You're telling me it was better than Jason's?"
And she snickers to herself. Then she looks at you, as if expecting you to join her. When you don't her face drops a little.
"Those weren't for me," she says confusedly.
And if she was confused, so were you. What did she mean? You watched Jason hand them over to her the same time that you did. You were kinda jealous at how good his bouquet looked compared to yours, though you never said anything to him about it.
"Delores, I watched him hand it to you! They were for you, it was wrap day." you say.
She shakes her head and begins laughing with herself. But you're not laughing because you honestly want to know why she thinks those flowers weren't for her, and who she thought they were for.
Delores places her hand over yours on the table. And with a smile she just pats it, once then twice. You are utterly confused.
"He gave the flowers to me yes, but they weren't for me. I think you should just ask him." she puts simply.
And with that she's up out her chair and putting her coat on. You are slow to join her, and even slower to put your coat on. Your mind just couldn't wrap around it. Jason gave her flowers he was gonna give someone else? It kind of rubbed you the wrong way.
The two of you walk out of the restaurant and out on the street. It's midday and the paps aren't around which you're thankful for. Delores drove here so she said earlier on and wanted to pick up a few things after for work the next day. You sent your driver a text that you were finishing up and ready to be picked up.
You turn to her.
"Wait how'd you know that they weren't for you?" you asked finally.
"When I got home that night, there was a bouquet waiting for me at the door, signed with his name and a thank you note." she answers.
"Huh." you sound.
Delores smiles, "It was good to see you. Keep in touch yeah?"
She wraps her arms around you and you return the action. You wished that you could hire her as your personal makeup artist but you know she would only be tied down. She's off to do great things with great people. You couldn't stop that.
"I will, and whenever your NDA is up tell me the movie you're working on." you joke.
The two of you unravel from each other and give a few more goodbyes. And then she's walking off to her car. You see your driver a across the street. So with caution you look both ways before crossing and getting into the backseat.
"Where to?" Mike asks.
"Uh, I think I'm headed back to my place." you answer.
"Home it is." he says.
And then he's driving off. In the backseat you pull out your phone from your pocket. Your fingers work faster than you can think. Unlock your phone. Messages. Jason Todd.
You begin to type out a question but backtrack and delete your words. Maybe you should just leave it alone. It was his business after all. But then, you think, why would Delores tell you to ask him? Your fingers start typing again.
you: Hey Todd, how's heartthrob life going?
What you weren't expecting was a fast response. You heard it from your agent that he was already in meetings for other projects. It wouldn't be long before he's shooting again.
him: good now that I know you consider me a heartthrob.
you: shut up. I was JOKING.
him: it's okay. I think you're cool too. What's up?
you: I just met up with Delores for lunch.
him: nice!! but don't think you can steal her away from me.
you: hard to steal someone that already likes me more than you but ok. and I had a question
him: go ahead
you: so you got her flowers right?
him: you were there when I gave them to her
you: yes but she told me that those weren't for her. she actually couldn't stop laughing about it too.
him: oh
you: oh?
him: I don't know what to say
you: I mean it's fine if it's private. you don't have to tell me anything. but I was just wondering.
him: wondering what?
you: who were the flowers for if they weren't for Delores?
him: she didn't tell you?
you: nope said I should ask you.
him: they were for someone else on set.
you: Jason why would you give her flowers meant for someone else????
him: bc I'm an idiot and I saw you going to give her flowers and needed to beat you to it.
you: you wanted to one up me so bad you made yourself look like an idiot?
him: something like that.
you: nice hehehe
him: oh please do not hold this over me
you: oh Jason I think I will! have a great day idiot!!!
him: I'm gonna ask Dent to release your bad takes.
you: SHUT UP YOU WOULDN'T DARE
him: have a great day hun!!

Thoughts thought thoughts in the Actor AU! Former theatre kid here btw-
For Jimmy’s habit of losing the Codfather head, it’s also a game of who can find the Codfather head and who can find it in the most ridiculous place. Jimmy doesn’t know how the head ended up in the refrigerator, he doesn’t remember putting it there! No, Jimmy did not intentionally leave it in the green room with one of Scott’s capes/cloaks on a clothing stand that made it look like a person! Why… why would Jimmy know why he put it in the drawer in the makeup department when he doesn’t even ever really need to go in the makeup department? He genuinely doesn’t know how it ends up in these weird places.
Also, are Scott and Xornoth actual twins in the AU? Such a coinky dink.
And even though Scott forgets he has antlers sometimes, there’s also the opposite. Where he forgets that he doesn’t have antlers and he’s maneuvering and ducking like he does, but it just makes him look weird lol. It’s very much uncommon, but it is very entertaining everything you see it
Scott and Jimmy occasionally “combining” their head props, the Codfather head wearing Antlers. It’s cute but also silly
I wonder just how many times they try and be each others’ character in their free time. Just. Really over dramatic/cheesy line delivery or one person reinactment of a certain scene.
What’s everyone’s experience in acting? Be it on stage of for shows/movies/whatever else? I know you’ve elaborated on some, but what on others?

I love all of these so much oh my god.
The current holder of the title for finding the codfather head in the weirdest place is Fwhip, who found it in the rafters of the building??? No one is... entirely sure how it got up there. Explanations range from a member of the crew taking it up with them when repairing something and forgetting to bring it back down to ghosts. Everyone seems to agree that ghosts is more likely.
Yes they are lol.
Yeah. Especially towards the end of filming, he starts to get really paranoid about his antlers, to the point where he can be completely out of costume and just duck super low out of habit.
That's so cute oh my goodness <3 they absolutely do that I'm declaring it canon.
Scott and Joey are the ones doing impressions of the others the most. They like to amp up the drama to an unreasonable amount.
Pretty much everyone has done at least a couple plays and/or movies before this, so they have a good amount of experience. The only one who doesn't is Shelby. This is her first time actually auditioning for a professional production, having just graduated from art school. She's very nervous about it at first, especially since a good amount of the cast is at least semi-famous (or just really well loved in certain niche circles)
She and Scott went to high school together (I know I said she and him have done stuff together before but I'm kind of changing things around a little bit)

A Little Princess (1995): A Tale of Orientalism
Hey friend, sit down, I want to talk to you for a moment. Remember beloved children's film A Little Princess 1995? How well do you remember it? Is it a film you watch regularly or is it just something that you have vague good feelings in connection to?
The reason I ask is that there's something you might not remember about this film. Something that you might not have realized when you watched it as a wee child. What's that, you ask? This movie is perhaps the most Orientalist piece of filmmaking I have ever seen, and the perhaps is only because I can't decide whether or not Memoirs of a Geisha gets the honor instead.
Let's take a look, shall we?
I want to start you out by showing you the opening of the film, since it may have been a while since you've seen it.

Okay, you finished? Let's analyze this clip. First of all, we've got some mysterious tinkling and stereotypical sounds of India. Text starts to scroll across the screen in a curvy font that speaks of the Orient and far off lands. Hang on, did she just say, "The mystical land of India" like she's talking about Oz or Narnia?
It really only gets worse from there. A little girl starts to tell us a small part of the story of Ramayana, an epic that is part of the Hindu faith. The images we are given make India look like a technicolor fantasy realm. And who do we have playing Sati and Rama? A white woman with a bindi and a white man who has been painted blue.
The actor who plays Rama also plays Sara's father, so I think the implication is that Sara is imagining these two as her parents (I question how many young children are even going to pick up on this detail to make its inclusion worthwhile; I certainly didn't), but the whole thing still seems racially insensitive (especially since her father is literally a colonialist. That's why he's in India.) Not only that, but they have chosen a story that is part of a religion that is still actively practiced for Sara to be telling, not a simple piece of folklore.
To add the final icing on the cake, when the story reaches an exciting part, we pull away to show the little white girl who is telling this story in 1914 India. She is telling this story not to someone else who is white but to an Indian child of her own age, who seems to be very interested in it. What's the implication here, that Sara knows this own kid's culture better than he does?
The story of Ramayana is continued throughout the film in this same dreamlike style, interspersed with the story of Sara Crewe, a little American (British in the original) girl who comes to a boarding school in her father's home country, where her fortunes change drastically when she gets news of her father's death.
Let's unpack this more. What's the purpose of having these scenes in this movie? Well, the answer to that seems to be that they want to provide the film with a feel of magic and wonder. In other words, Orientalism.
Okay, now that you're caught up, let me address a few things. Some of you might be thinking that the movie is like this because it's adapted from a novel that was published in 1905. But this simply isn't the case. Yes, Sara is from India in the book and her father is still a colonialist. He dies of "jungle fever" and Sara is later saved from poverty by Mr. Carrisford, her father's equally colonialist business partner in a diamond mine that turns out not to have gone bust, and he has an Indian servant with a monkey and is frequently referred to as "the Indian gentleman" (making the Indian gentleman actually Indian instead of a white colonialist is one of the two changes that the movie makes that I actually like.)
But you know what the book doesn't have? Ramayana. Sara's stories have nothing to do with India, sacred or not. She generally tells stories that she has made up about mermaids and things. So why does the movie have her telling a sacred Hindu story instead? I can't think of an explanation that isn't Orientalist. (And did I mention that all of the writers are this film are white?)
Your second thought might be that perhaps this is just some 90s filmmaking that aged badly! Perhaps they were trying to have more racial and cultural diversity. There are two cases where I think this is the case in the film, one of which is the Indian gentleman, and one of which I will talk about later (because I think it also needs to be discussed), but I don't think that's the case here.
As proof of my point, I'd like to show you the opening to another beloved children's classic, The Secret Garden 1993. This is also based on a book by Frances Hodgson Burnett and has a heroine who was born in India and comes to live in her parents' home country (in this case, the movie keeps the English setting.) I would also argue that the language around India and particularly the people who live there that is used in the original book is worse than the language used in A Little Princess.

So, you have two Frances Hodgson Burnett adaptations made and released in the 90s that both open with scenes of India. But the scenes feel incredibly different.
In the Secret Garden 1993, India is firmly placed in the real world. The scene also gives us important narrative information. It tells us that our heroine, Mary, is both spoiled and neglected. She doesn't do anything for herself. She doesn't even put her own stockings on. She's always angry and has frequent fits of temper, and her parents are also selfish people who have never had time for her. Finally we learn of Mary's parents' deaths and how she survives, giving us everything that we as watchers need to know before we ship her off (literally) to Misselthwaith Manor for a transformative adventure.
In comparison, A Little Princess 1995's opening treats India like it's a fantasy land, and its opening does nothing to introduce us to our main character or tell us anything about the story that we're all actually here for. The opening is just supposed to give the viewer a mythical, magical feeling of exoticism and wonder.
Before I go further, there's one more thing the movie does that I want to address. This is the change that I mentioned that I think was supposed to be good, but I think it's extremely misguided. They make Becky, originally a white scullery maid, black.
Now, I am fine with changing a character's race from what it was in the book for the sake of more diversity (it was the only thing I liked about Persuasion 2022), but I don't think Becky is the character to do it with. This is because Becky is a servant who is treated as little better than a slave. She's starved, she's illiterate, she's poorly treated, and she lives in a freezing little attic room where she is ignored by all the students of the school below.
In my opinion, the point of making a character that was originally white into a person of color—especially in a children's film—is so that people of color can see someone that looks like them represented on screen. But Becky is the only black character in the entire film. Is it really better for a little black girl to see the only girl who looks like her be the one who is treated as if she were a slave in an American setting that is supposed to be 50 years past slavery? I wouldn't want that for my child, if I was a black parent.
It didn't have to be that way, either. There was integrated education in America as early as 1831 in the north and the west, and there were rich African Americans who would have been able to afford to send their children to a fancy boarding school. They could have made some of the students of the school black. But they didn't. They just made Becky black. (The one thing I will give them credit for is that at least Becky becomes Sara's adopted sister in this version instead of her personal servant like she does in the book.)
So, what do we do with this information? Do you have to stop liking the film? Absolutely not! I may not like for reasons in addition to those listed above (I think the 90s rooftop chase scene climax is very silly), but I don't want to tell you to stop loving something that means something to you.
But I think it's important to talk about this, and it's something I have literally never heard anyone else discussing, unless I brought it up. We can like media with problematic elements (I think it could be safely said that there's no media that's entirely without them), but I think we need to acknowledge those problematic elements. It's only by confronting and not excusing the things that are wrong in the things we love that we can get better.

As I haven't remotely hid on this blog but will repeat for newcomers, I love the x-men. Their my faviorite superhero team and are easily my faviorite franchise in comics, with spinoffs from New Mutants, to X-Factor to X-Men red all ranking among my faviorite comics ever. I love these characters dearly and haven't covered them nearly enough on here so I decided to celebrate the 65th anniversary with mutant month... and while we're a few months late due to moving and such, this month happening was never in doubt and wills tand as a yearly celebration of all things x.
So to kick this off we've got an odd little note in x-men history, one I wasn't even aware of till asking my good friend emma what animated apperance of the x-men she'd like to cover.. and finding out their first wasn't on spider-man and their amazing friends like i'd thought but much earlier, on a show known for awesome theme songs, shoddy animation and not much else. Yes folks before costarring in the friendly neighborhood, before all the 90's tastic spandex, before 2000s teenage angst and awesomeness, and before the last gasp till a revivial of said 90s spandex, the strangest heroes of all became the allies for peace and teamed up with one of the first mutants to combat the greatest evil the world had ever known on a barely animated marvel cartoon. Also hawkeye was there. So join me under the cut if i've peaked your intrest as we inter the limitedly animated world of the sub mariner and his allies for peace on the marvel super heroes!
The Marvel Super Heroes wasn't just the first animated apperance of the x-men, but the first marvel animated series PERIOD. Create din 1966 and running for 65 episodes (with each episode having three chapters to it but seeming to tell a complete story). The series was made on a budget somewhere BELLOW a paperclip and a piece of string, a singular bottle cap. They simply scanned the actual comics, barely aniamted them, added some effects and for lip movements used Syncro Vox. For those unfamiliar with it Synchro Vox was a super cheap effect where they cut out the characters mouths and had real human mouths recite the words. And if you say "Well jee whiz jake that sounds like a styigan nightmare from the deepest depths of my subconcious" then your right on the money. There's a reason it didn't outlast the 60s.
As you can imagine this .. looks pretty bad and it's better ot just read the actual comics. The actors TRY, they do, but static, barely perserved images on a screen just can't match the panel work in the original jack kirby art. Congradulations Marvel Super HEroes, you found a way to somehow make JACK KIRBY ART not work. I hope your proud.
It's only lasting impacts are , and i'm completely convinced of this, serving as the inspriation for this incredibles short

At first I thought it was cheap animation in general but knowing now this cartoon uses synchro vox and seeing this cartoon again.. yeah. Good on you crew for doing such an incredibly deep cut and making it work on it's own.
The other is the theme songs. The theme songs for the most part slap.

YOu'll also recognize the Iron Man theme song as they used a jazzy instuermental in his film. And given it's the best of the bunch it's easy to say.
There's two themes missing from this. The first is the shows theme itself. Which is... a lot.

It's not bad, but you get they just didn't quite have Imperius Sex Machine as defined as the other 4. Captain America at the time was a man of action, who fought for the people and was a symbol of all of america has to offer. Iron Man was a playboy who kept people at a distance. Thor is a god full of the majesty and wonder that brings, and Hulk.. well okay Hulk's theme is just goofy but damn if it isn't fun and still gets the point across. But namors is "Look at him ain't he powerful. He rules a kingdom. So for those less familiar with the prince of the deep who might of missed wakanda forever, a quick recap: Namor started as a golden age super hero, one of Timely, the future marvel comics, first, and one of the big three of his day with the human torch, a diffrent one than the one who'd later flame on with the fantastic four, and Captain America. LIke most timely heroes he vanished to the sands of time for a while. So cue the Fantastic Four and the true birth of the marvel universe. And since Marvel coudln't just let their bigger names of days past simply lie around, they put the human torch moniker on our boy johnny storm. And once the fantastic four proved to be the hit they were, they decided to bring him back via this book to test the waters.
It's a clever return too: Naturally the person to bring namor back is Johnny Storm, the new human torch and spirtual successor to the original who Namor famously battled in the golden age. Johnny was a teen at the time and ran away from home eventually ending up at a homeless shelter.. and finding NAMOR. Turns out since wwII (an increasing gap but unlike most in comics one that dosen't need to be handwaved as Namor is immortal), namor lost his memory and grew a beard. Johnny uses his power to burn it off

And unable to convince namor he's a freaky fish guy dunks him in the bay. The good news is this brings Namor back. The bad news.. is this brings namor back, who sees his kingdom in ruins and wages war with the surface. The four are able to mostly repel him, and Namor ends up taking a liking to JOhnny's sister Sue. These became his primary character traits: wanting to lash out at the surface, and wanting to nail Reed Richards girlfriend and later wife. Seriously just a few years later the guy buys AN ENTIRE FILM STUDIO when he hears Reed's gone bankrupt simply to try and win her over. As other books sprouted up he'd appear in them, mostly to punch the hero or be courted by various supervillians to team up with them as he was the hottest guy in prom. And that's where the decision to make HIM the 5th pillar of this show really makes me tilt my head. Namor isn't a TERRIBLE character. He's not one I like a lot, but it's simply because outside of his stint with the x-men, where both Matt Fraction and especially Kireon Gilleon really nailed him down: arrogant, but not without honor, powerfula s hell and knows it and while certainly willing to go after someones partner does so because he senses a lack of passion. Dosen't make it okay. Also as seen above it shows his tastes are wide, varied and awesome.
The problem is most of the time he's just an angry fish man with a pretty standard power set and a fairly boring kingdom. Wakanda forever completely redesigning it really helped the MCU version.
But just thinking of the remaining superhero books they could use while fantastic fours rights were elsewhere, as were spideys, they still had ant-man and the x-men. (The avengers were around but were largely saved to adapt in cap and iron man's shorts). I get it to a point: Ant Man had recently been canceled and X-Men.. weren't exactly a hit.
See the early x-men adventures.. aren't great. Their not terrible, there's some good ones as i've read them, and it's not exactly a big secret in the x-men fandom or marvel fandom as a whole that while the CONCEPT for the x-men was great: a new evolution of mankind with powers, that next step being largely teens and young adults struggling to control them.. but Stan Lee and Jack Kirby had no idea what to do with this. Stan 100% created the concept of mutants so he wouldn't have to make up an origin for every superpowered villian or hero. You can only use good ole radation so many times before people catch on and Thor, Cap and Iron Man all had super unique origins that coudln't easily be replicated. The most they could do thor wise is bring in another god from another mytholgy with herc.
But it was at it's core just weaker versions of the kinds of stories he told elsewhere and fell HEAVILY into

Ant Man baffles me as while yes, his book was canceled.. they still had a WHOLE series to mine stories from with interesting visuals. He was still an avenger and he and jan played off each other decently when it didn't fall into Smilin Stan really not knowing how to write women.
SO I KINDA get it as Namor was more the default.. but it still felt like a weird choice given they didn't have mcuh to work with where he wasn't the villian and actively seemed to refuse to adapt any story where he was. IT was just an odd choice to pick someone who at the time was mostly an outright villian and most of whose character arc from that was in books they woudln't use.
So when you have to use WHATEVER you can, what do you do? Well if your this show.. you do something profoundly bonkers and hilarious.

NO not him. He wasn't around yet. NO this episode is clumisly stitched together from two diffrent ff issues. Fantastic Four #6 and Fantastic Four Annual #4
The first makes sense as it features Namor teaming up with one of marvel's best villians who they apparently could use in both shows: Doctor Doom. They simply had to replace who his nemesis were. And that of course is where our futuraly uncanny x-men come in, simply slapped into the baxter building and given the ff's reputation and relationship fighting doom. Oddly they woudln't actually fight doom during the 60's like everyone else. Eventually though he did leading to this awesome cover

Granted FF writer at the time John Byrne didn't like the story because Doom was tricked by X-Men enemy and my boy arcade and tried to retcon it but that's a story for another day.
Point is the X-Men hadn't fought doom.. but given they were more generic superheroes at the time having them step into the ff's roll actually makes a lot of sense. And they even had some panels they could use from the x-mens series of them battling namor.

Yeah for some weird reason they decided instead to mash this story.. with FF Annual #4, the wedding of Sue Storm and Reed Richards. An issue that I haven't read but i'm bound to cover eventually for my annual February superhero wedding special
It is famous enough for me to have the gist though: Sue and Reed get married but this being a superhero comic, some action gets thrown in. In this case Dr. Doom decides to gift them EVERY SINGLE AVALIABLE SUPERVILLIAN in the marvel universe. That's not hyperbole. Pretty much every villian who could from street level guys to the big bads like Kang showed up to try and beat the shit out of the ff.. but this being the wedding of two public super heroes, every super hero in the marvel universe short of spidey (who didn't seem to show up, loner that he was). IT comes off at least from a distance as a big old celebration not just of the happy couple but of how much the marvel universe had grown.
As a result though the first half of this episode is just a lot of fighting and feels really disjointed esepcially once the ff #6 adaptation kicks in as there's never really any resolution to the "all the supervillians are given a subconcious signal to fuck with my arch enemy's wedding day. " part of the plot. Or here it's because the X-Men are getting a major award. Which is nice given how their usually treated.. but for some reason here their called "the alliance for peace".

Look if you had to rename the x-men, and why on earth would you even back then at their weakest, why not the peace patrol, the peace posse, Cyclops and those other 4, the Beast Brigade, the Merry Mutant Marching Society, Not-The Fantastic Four, The Fantastic Five, The Sesnational Six, Uncle Charlie's Funtime House Band, Scotty Dosen't Know, The Teen Angels, The Alps, The Marvels, The Recess Monkeys, Code Yellow, The Mutants, XX-Men, The New Justice Team, Fruit Punch, We Hate you Please Die, Hated and Feared, Diaper Time, Stars and Garters, or Suck it Erik? Did they only have 5 minutes? I did and I came up with all of that, so how.
At any rate the first few minutes is just a lot of fighting. Again they HAVE an issue with namor. I get not wanting ot use all of it: Wanda and Pietro were still in the brotherhood of evil mutants at the time and it was back when Magneto was less "one of the most complex, compelling and awesome characters ever" and more "Dollar Tree Doctor Doom". But you HAVE PANELS OF THESE CHARACTERS FIGHTING NAMOR

There's also some with beast. So there was more than enough to do that and still use bits from ff #4. Just have doom narrate he's having mole man attack them. Instead once the fighting stops most of the x-men vanish, widdling down to just xavier who, thanks to using the wedding panels, is in his best baby blue prom tuxedo.
Oh and instead of just angel and professor.. we also get the greatest of all x-men, king of kings. Hawkeye. Yes for no reason other than they could crop other characters out easier probably, Hawkeye shows up a lot in the second act and is implictly a member of the defenders of peace. So in this reality, playing Mephisto's Advocate, either Hawkeye's a mutant with super sharp aiming ablities, or Hawkeye came to the X-Men to tie one of them up to prove he could join them instead of the avengers and Xavier was like "Fuck it come on in bud."
The rest of the ep is.. fine. Namor is asked to team with dr doom, then is betrayed by doom. We do get some awesome over the top stuff as Dr. Doom needs to use the grabber to pull the x-baxter building into space. So namor SWATS MEOTRS AWAY then chases Dr. Doom and ethan hawke into space and somehow survivies. IT's the cheesy kind of fun I want
So yeah.. for a first x-men in animatoin apperance this is pretty bad. Their barely featured as a team, Jean hardly gets to do anything, and it's two stories that just don't work together welded together. We have to assume at the end new york just.. burnt to the ground because Dr. Doom left all the other super villians int he world on. Or like the actual story the watcher just said "Fuck this' and ended it. Either way it's a pretty bleh episode and even the weird as hell way the x-men are used dosen't give it much of a recomednation.
Thankfully next up in x-men month we have something a bit more fitting as it's time for one of the greatest x-men stories of all: God Loves, Man Kills. Thanks for reading.

Timothy about the strangest casting he has ever experienced⸻upcoming horror series “You Seem Nice” dir. Luca Guadagnino
𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘸!
“I had been in LA when Luca called me and asked if I wanted to come to the casting for a film. And I was like 'Yeah, count me in!' And then the conversation was over. He had just hung up. At first I thought we were out of network, so I had tried a few more times, but he didn't pick up. So I thought to myself, 'Okay.'
A few days later, a message came in from Luca with the address in New York City where the casting was to take place. At first I was quite confused because it was supposed to take place right in Central Park. But I didn't think much of it and just went.
Then when I got there, I couldn't find anyone who even looked like they were running a casting. Luca was also nowhere to be seen. So I stood there and a few minutes later I got a message from Luca: 'That's her. The girl in the red top.' I saw her immediately. She was sitting at one of the tables, drinking her tea. Great!, I thought to myself, and went over to talk to her, like maybe she was part of the crew, she had to be. But then she turned me down and said I must be mistaken.
That had really confused me. Like, what's going on here? So I left her alone, a bit frustrated because I really wanted to take part in this casting. I got nervous, you know? But Luca had fixated me on this woman and she was the only one in a red top, so she had to be the one. She then got up and left, and then another message came from Luca, saying: 'That's her'. That was all he had written again.
And then I wanted it. Then I was hooked. There was obviously something in the room that everyone understood but me, and then I wanted to understand it. So I followed her. If she had answers, then I wanted them. But because she had rejected me before, I wanted to tread carefully and followed her unobtrusively. And we had walked for … I don't know, three hours through New York City. I watched her go in and out of shops, followed her to the public library, watched her and her friend in an ice cream parlour.
At some point I got out my notebook and pen and started writing things down. Things about her. I really only had my writing things with me to note down important information from the casting, to formulate initial ideas, etc.”
Interviewer: What did you write down?
“All kinds of things. Every detail of her visual appearance. And then I had speculated in writing how tall she was compared to me, had drawn two bodies and painted her at about the height I imagined her to be. And … I don't know why, but then I had also written course verses about and for her and What If's. It was really strange! I was really weird!”
Interviewer: But in the end you got the role?
“Yes, I guess … I did a lot of things right that day. At the end Luca had told me that he had been there from the beginning. He had been watching us. He had stalked me while I had stalked her. And when he finally told me at the end what the script is about, a light had dawned on me.”
Interviewer: What is the script about?
“It's the story of a girl and her stalker and a lot of … strange feelings. Only now, in retrospect, do I realise what Luca had done and what a brilliant director and man he is. By having me so fixated on her with his messages and by making me so frustrated and confused, I had really believed it was her in the end. 'That's her.' - That thought had cemented itself in my mind. Like, that's her, she has the answers, she has everything I need, I have to keep an eye on her! Luca used the craziest psychology.
But that's Luca. He wants feeling actors, not acting actors. He wants to trigger feelings in people with his films and he knows exactly how to do it. And to do that, he simply spares no means and I find that very impressive.”

Cameron recalled working with Ron Howard, the famously nice director, on the visual effects for Apollo 13: “And I just watched what a great guy he was. I'm like, ‘I'm a total asshole compared to Ron Howard. I have to get in touch with my inner Ron Howard.’ And he probably has bad days, too, I don't know, but I didn't see it. And he was so complimentary to people. I always figured that no negative comment was the equivalent of a compliment. That's not how people are wired at all. You have to actually say it out loud.”

Because of Cameron’s clarity, and his ability to bring his crew into his process, Saldaña said, “When you are a part of a James Cameron project, you don’t feel like a tool. You don’t feel objectified.” But she acknowledged it took a particular mental toughness: “If you can take it, hang on, because it’s always going to be fun and beautiful and rewarding. But if you’re sensitive, and you can’t take it, then trust me, there is always somebody else who is going to accept it.” (She also said she’d gotten good advice from another actor who had worked with Cameron before, who’d noticed that Cameron often got so focused on what he was doing that he forgot to eat: “If he starts getting edgy, make sure you give him some chocolate and you give him some nuts.”)
A decade ago, Cameron and his wife decided to become vegans: “I’m 10 years, one hundred percent, not a molecule that I know of of animal entering my face. And I’m healthier than I’ve ever been, and most of these punks can’t keep up with me.” In an oblique way, this is part of the explanation for why Cameron has at times drifted away from filmmaking. “Nobody does empathy better than Hollywood,” Cameron told me. “But there’s a certain point where my mind wants to solve problems that are real-world problems.”
But Cameron still remembers an executive at the company—“who will go unnamed, because this is a really negative review”—who approached Cameron with a “stricken cancer-diagnosis expression” after a prerelease screening of the film and begged the director to shorten it. “I said something I’ve never said to anybody else in the business,” Cameron recalled. He said he told him, “ ‘I think this movie is going to make all the fucking money. And when it does, it’s going to be too late for you to love the film. The time for you to love the movie is today. So I’m not asking you to say something that you don’t feel, but just know that I will always know that no matter how complimentary you are about the movie in the future when it makes all the money’—and that’s exactly what I said, in caps, ALL THE MONEY, not some of the money, all the fucking money. I said, ‘You can’t come back to me and compliment the film or chum along and say, ‘Look what we did together.’ You won’t be able to do that.’ At that point, that particular studio executive flipped out and went bug shit on me. And I told him to get the fuck out of my office. And that’s where it was left.”
I was driving back to my hotel, not too long after, when the phone rang. It was Cameron, wanting to talk again about the shuttle flight he turned down and which eventually became—Goldin’s recollection differs here again, but no matter—a very notorious flight indeed. “I forgot the punch line to the story!” Cameron said. “The punch line is, the shuttle mission I refused? It was the Columbia.” His voice rose: “I fucking saved my own life by choosing the higher path!”

Villareal Household: Chapter 3, Part 3
Devin films Dignity & Decorum, improves her work connections, and checks out the local gym with her siblings.

When possible, Devin likes to practice her romance scenes with Luna. By acting through it with someone she is attracted to, she can more easily bring the emotions through in her final performance. They do standard romance then a horror scene just in case any vampires rock up in Dignity & Decorum.

Ever the multi tasker, Devin is livestreaming her morning run when she gets a pop up to inform her she is now a 3 star celebrity. Skipping auditions here we come! When she gets back home she finds the washing line has broken so despite her fame she does the menial task or repairing it.

Before the filming she piles together as many positive moodlets as I can think of. Still having time she works on some of her knitting projects. Looks like she has chosen to start work on hanging pot plants between rotations. Eventually we are whisked to set and I guess many things are filming?

Devin: Thank you. Do you know what else is filming today?
Rudolphus: Beats me, you're the only one who ever seems to come to hair and makeup
Devin: Really?
Rudolphus: I guess everyone else arrives camera ready

Rudolphus: At least the stylist half knew what to do, we're going to have to wig you
Devin: My hair won't like fall out or turn green will it
Rudolphus: No but best not stress the hair. New person in wardrobe today, Emily

Emily: We have work to do, on the platform
Devin: Right, can do. How's your day going?
Emily: Hmm, have to adjust that, that won't fit her colour at all
Devin leaves the woman to talk to herself and measure her with an invisible tape measure until finally she is able to twirl into costume.

Devin: Hey Norah
PA: Do not disturb the director miss
Norah: She's a Mrs and she's my friend
PA: Make it quick, we have a schedule
Devin: She seems fun
Norah: *laughs* she is dedicated. We don't have the stage for another hour though so feel free to grab some food and meet the rest of the crew

Trusting Norah's advice Devin approaches the food. She makes sure to introduce herself to the production crew who seem new when she spots a familiar face.
Devin: Girl I did not recognise you in that get up
Clea: How far we have come from Critters days
Devin: Commemorative selfie?
Clea: You know it

At last Norah announces filming is ready to start and Devi has another quick word with her director before heading on to stage. After having some time to centre herself she launches into her monologue. She takes some risks with it and gets nods of approval from behind the camera, success is hers.

Next up are her romance scenes with Clea. The two have worked together for several years so are accustomed to bouncing off each other. An oddly dressed actor and producer refuse to clear the set, staging a sit in on the lounge furniture. Norah assures Devin they can cut around the sims.

Finally Devin has some argument scenes to complete with Mina, another old friend. The two trade insults, apparently no one comes to blows on this show. Norah yells a final CUT and production wraps for this episode.  Devin receives positive feedback and gets well paid for her work.

You know how normally if a couple sits down to eat in Sims 4 and you direct them to interact they'll get up and do a hug or kiss on the cheek before talking? Luna's style is to get up and do a passionate kiss with Devin and it's so cute! Never had a couple had that as their default before.

Devin is able to skip auditions now thanks to her fame points but before her next acting gig she has to work on her work relationships. She invites over her director Norah, and her co stars. She has already met Connor but Anaya is a new introduction. Anaya seems unimpressed with Devin's home but Norah smooths things over

Once Anaya relaxes enough to jam on Devin's guitar, Devin takes the opportunity to do some knitting and have a proper catch up with Norah. While they're busy discussing how the traditional actor/actress categories should be reshaped to support non-binary sims in their industry Anaya has a dance.

Once the catch up draws to a close Devin takes care of Luna's flowers when suddenly
?: Mrs Villareal! Mrs Villareal! Over here!
Devin is shocked to see a paparazzi sim staking out her house and sporting her old haircut to boot. Initially she ignores the sim but they eventually invade her yard.

At last the sim leaves and Devin takes to social media to scold anyone who tries to mess with people in their own homes. Soon enough Luna is home and Devin rants and raves about the paparazzi. Luna is used to her wife's complaints and knows the best thing she can do initially is just listen to her problems without trying to solve them.

Devin offers to cook dinner tonight while Luna tries again to find some family connections online. No luck in that department so far, she may have to question her brothers again. After dinner Luna does more grading in her portfolio while Devin improves her comedy skill by writing some jokes.

The next day Devin arranges to meet Joey at the gym since she knows fitness is not his favourite. Deanna also decides to tag along, and so do two member of the paparazzi
Devin: Hey De, nice to see you again so soon
Deanna: What's up with the paparazzi
Devin: They know stars frequent this gym

Joey: Doesn't that one have your old haircut
Devin: guess I'm a trendsetter now to
Joey: Hey, you think I could get that one's number?
Devin: Coral is married to Don
Joey: Don Lothario? Do we trust he's not already stepping out on her?
Deanna: What makes you think she'd like you
Joey: I'm charming with an attractive face

Devin gets into her regular routine, taking time to wave at the paparazzi between sets. Joey tries to impress Coral but her camera is firmly fixed on his older sister. Deanna has disappeared and I discover she's gone to fan girl and faint over Cassandra. Like you know her personally Deanna, why???

Devin wraps up her workout at which point Deanna has awakened. Joey keeps pushing on the machine while Devin checks on her. Devin then goes over to the fans who have come to the gym, signs a few autographs and takes a few selfies.

Devin then heads off alone to Ward park to do a livestream in nature. She fires up her drone then starts to sing while playing her guitar. I don't think any acting gigs require singing so far but there are ones that she needs high guitar skill for. Some sims show up to see her play and tip well.

Before heading home Devin gets set for pictures. The drone thinks he has the best camera but nevertheless fans use their phones for selfies and the paparazzi use their giant handheld cameras.

Luna gets back from work and does her daily pregnancy test (If you haven’t tried the Childbirth Mod by Pandasama you should). Today she is shocked to discover that the mods have worked. She has managed to get pregnant with Devin's child! No father required in sim world.

Devin: You're smiling awfully big, what are you up to
Luna: You mean what are we up to
*shows test*
Devin: Wait, does this mean what I think
Luna: Yeah baby, we're pregnant!
Devin: OMW yes! Oh Lu I knew you could do it, low fertility be damned
Luna: Our next chapter is starting, we did it together

The couple embrace and take a moment to stare at the test while they adjust to their new reality. Luna was the one always dreaming of a kid but Devin is so darn excited about this pregnancy. She gets a baby with Luna without having to go through the physical changes herself, winner scenario.
