Thought I'd share a little update on After-Connect.

This is the page format I've tentatively decided on. Illustrated background/border, with a box of text placed somewhere appropriate.

This is the rough draft of the first page. Sketched background. Might make some adjustments before starting the line-art phase.

Any-who, what do you think of this page format? You'll get a feel for the decision making and randomized aspects of the game when I reveal the second page, but I'm just not quite there yet. :p

Summary:

These places—constructed from memory, built on desire, threaded through with dreams—they were designed to keep you trapped. When an unnatural cold settles over Casper High, the trio know that something beyond what they can see must be going on. But their search for answers yields more than they bargained for. Ghosts are haunting Amity Park with their shattered memories. Only by reliving those memories can they free the mortal realm from ghostly influence, restore the broken cores, and ultimately, help the ghosts pass on. Summary:

The town of Blackwell didn’t exist. At least, that’s what everyone in Eben’s Field says to Danny’s family when they show up to the small Appalachian town for a ghost hunting trip. While Danny’s parents set up camp beside the lake where Blackwell once stood, Danny decides to sate his curiosity. On the night of a full moon, Danny dives into Eben Lake’s depths to explore the last building standing at the bottom—an old greenhouse. After all, no one else had heard the music coming from the waters.

On Monday, we're receiving samples for our mailing envelopes. We are going to launch small.

One of the faux postage stamps is a waffle. I have an entire product plan around brunch and breakfast -- with ghosts, with mermaids, with witches, with monsters.

Cards and stickers and zines and stories and theories.

Guides to launching an RPG insurance policy for your games. Fail a saving through? Collect 10 gold coins.

Spreadsheets your rogue characters can use when deciding to lend money at absurd rates to their adventurers.

Maybe the rogue runs the insurance company. Maybe mischief can be wrought here.

Breakfast. Brunch. Smooching. Lazy days. Adventures in the grocery store. Hunting paladins who are raising trouble. Stealing jewels from wizards.

A sentient jack-o-lantern that is the familiars of a witch who runs a potion shop.

A winged black cat who is the familiar of a swamp witch. Her wife is a vampire. They all live in a secluded cottage. Their favorite restaurant is run by a troll who hates to talk and so named the restaurant after himself so he can use as few words as possible.

Labels that proclaim mail you are sending is haunted. Or cursed.

In a pile of months, an email (or text!) based RPG with a simple concept: you own a small haunted house in the middle of the woods. Or maybe a lighthouse on the precipice of a sea, your neighbors are sea nymphs and mermaids. Maybe you run a video rental store and your customers are goblins.

We are starting small.

Currently 28% funded after 2 days of the campaign! I feel good about the pace so far, and to hopefully keep things going I wanted to highlight an experiment I'm doing for this ZineMonth 2024 project: community physical copies.

Community copies obviously have a long legacy in indie ttrpgs, but I want to use this campaign in the spirit of ZineMonth to get physical copies to people who might not be able to afford them. Anyone who backs at a digital-only tier (hardship or regular) is entered in a raffle.

People who back at higher levels donate a physical copy to this raffle, and if we fund I'll select winners to receive a free physical copy of the zine (shipping covered by me). And should I end up with more donated copies than possible recipients? I'll figure it out lol

This experiment could certainly blow up in my face, but it's an explosion I'm willing to risk. I also plan to offer digital community copies when all is said and done, so it doesn't matter if I perhaps pay a little more money to get the game to people who want it.

I'm in a zine! Some fellow cross stitch designers and I came together with the prompt "Spirit World" and I went with the spooky deer route! All 11 patterns pictured here are included, and more info about the zine and the other designers can be found here. The zine is only available until August 17th, 2023 (if it's after that date, you'll have to check with individual designers about their patterns). Pattern names and their designers are under the cut!
