ok i'm sorry but why is everyone so excited about october/halloween/fall like i mean i like fall just as much as the next incoherent and/or deranged poster on this site but like. it's not that special. it's just nice weather. also, like, what the hell do you even do on halloween? trick or treating is usually reserved for children, and even then, it's boring as all hell. i mean, parties i guess?? but you could have a costume party at any time of the year. scary things are scary so. no. and like, october. really? of all months to obsess over you choose this one? granted, it does come just in time to provide reprieve from september (thank god i slept through that whole month) but there are so many better months. november is the epitome of cold fall weather, december is christmas season (so much better than halloween season fight me you spooky ass bitches and/or bastards). january sucks but it has a nice name. february is nicer weather, but still kinda sucks (nice name again though). my birthday is in march so fuck you. april sucks but again, nice name. very blue month. may sucks. completely and entirely may just isn't good. bad number, bad color, mediocre name. june is kind of nice but i hate the summer so it spells the beginning of the end. july can return to the pits of hell that it drags onto the earth once a year. august takes the cake for worst name, and second worst weather. september. just. wake me up when it ends, okay? but at least it has my favorite Not Really A Holiday. october is just. there. boring name, interesting color, kind of good number.

Yes, this is ship discourse AITA #294729472 you can scroll away, english isn't my first language, my apologies.

So I (16M (But 13-14 at the time)) am in a very niche fandom. As in, we didn't have any new content for the past 5 years and media is old af (2013), very few fans, most of us know each other already.

I used to have these mutuals Cheese (Not their real name) (around my age i think?? I can't remember) and Breadstick (Not his real name) (18M).

We all had our little ships, ok? I like the little (dumbass golden retriever boy) x (badass traumatized man) ship, Cheese liked the little (badass traumatized man) x (literally the same thing but evil and abusive) and Breadstick liked both ships.

I met Breadstick before meeting Cheese so we were already friends before i met Cheese. I thought "Cool, another person likes this little niche thing i'm hyperfixated on!" So we became mutuals.

I didn't anticipate that we would argue about ships, but oh well. So, i'm a very chill person regarding ships, literally any, although i do have NOTPs, i'm not really toxic about my hatred, i just go "Ah, not my thing" and scroll away not without blocking the person, but really nothing personal and no hard feelings, i can perfectly be friends with someone who loves my notp.

In fact, that was the case with Cheese. They shipped my NOTP, like A LOT. But I was okay with it, i mean these are just characters and all we're doing is being silly. I didn't take this THAT seriously. However, when I seemed to talk about my ship, Cheese seemed uncomfortable in some way.

When I was talking about my fankid (call me cringe idc) of my OTP, Cheese got very confused and asked who was i talking about. Breadstick came in and introduced my fankid to them, since he knew about it before. Cheese just started being rude, literally saying swear words (Not against them but, the context didn't really call for it? No one was being mean or mad), saying, and i quote as best as i can, "I don't know what the fuck made you think i knew who the hell [Fankid] was".

I got very mad about it, so i privately dm'ed Breadstick about Cheese's attitude. We began trash talking about them, which, i admit was a very trashy thing to do and definitely asshole material™.

Reason why may i be the asshole: over time, Breadstick just started complaining a lot about Cheese, and I could honestly agree, it came to the point of us disliking them to some degree but not telling them and not breaking the mutual, that could be considered two faced behavior.

This was partly influenced because of another incident. So Cheese and Breadstick where rambling about an OT3 (3 person ship) they had in common, basically sharing ideas and stuff. I thought it would be fun and went "Hey, I have an OT3 too, maybe i should post about it too". So I went and posted about it, but Cheese felt very uncomfortable with that, since basically my OT3 was exactly like Cheese's OT3 but one character is different, "basically".

They said "You have your thing, let US have ours". Felt bad and honestly, maybe i shouldn't have intruded their ot3 rambling. I didn't expect such negative reaction out of them.

In other occasions they complained about me posting a little too much about my ship, even though they did the same thing with theirs. And they also had a mutual that said "If you ship [this character] you suck and i fucking hate you. [character] is too abusive to be shipped with anyone and you can't just make an AU, that would just change him as a character completely" which, dear god, that language wasn't needed, right?. And despite that crazy person saying that, Cheese agreed with their take, despite literally shipping the character in question with another one. And abusively too, which like you do you, lord knows i do that too, but agreeing with a take like that while doing exactly what it is complaining about is weird. On the other side, that person wasn't my mutual, so it's unrealistic of me to expect Cheese to control their mutuals over me, Cheese can mutual whoever they want, but i can still be weirded out right?

That is without including them telling other people to kill themselves over shipping, so it was clear that Cheese took this shipping thing seriously while me and Breadstick to some degree didn't. Honestly another reason why i might be an asshole, clearly they felt their otp was personal and me not liking it + ignoring it caused a bad environment, mala mía, but what else could i have done?

So, clearly Cheese is kind of an asshole to some degree. But i think what makes ME an asshole too is when I trash talked behind their back and cut them off way later than i should've. And also, i guess i shoved my ship down their throat taking by how mad they were about it? I didn't do it intentionally though and i could definitely say they did the same thing too when 80% of the fandom and character tags was them posting about their ship. Again, small niche fandom for old unpopular media, we are keeping it alive ourselves.

Well another week of Tal and Ashley putting Callowmoore through the emotional ringer. I'm kinda okay with where it's at right now (okay less kinda but I can still see an end goal for them), of course it wasn't the most ideal direction I thought up in my head but it rarely ever is. There's time, there's room, and maybe in 2 3 (again guys? mental torment for 3 again?) weeks time - because no show on Thanksgiving and then Candela Obscura - Tal and Ashley will pull the trigger and not leave me an anxious mess like they have the last month and a half every Friday Morning when I have to work XD

Every time I see AI art discourse I think of my new media teacher in college talking about remix culture.

I think about how much I love collage and how much it inspired me to keep going with art because sometimes all I can do is cut and paste.

I think if taking a few tracks I loved from a downloaded album and learning to use audacity to make something new.

I think about how much capitalism kills art.

So much so that we can't even agree that it's more messed up that life could be ruined by sharing creative energy.

No one will engage with the fact that maybe, just maybe, it's messed up that a form of creation even has the possibility to make artists unable to live.

It makes me sad when people say it's theft, abuse of other's work, lazy... It's art.

It's as much art as when I'm drawing, painting, cutting up magazines, folding zines, making a mix tape, over painting a thrift store find, making book art.

The issue is it shouldn't be paywalled, it shouldn't be censored, or centralized. Just like the Internet itself honestly.

Human beings should all feel free to create and remix any fucking thing they want.

The AI algorithm is not the problem, it is as it has always been, capitalism.

Don't want to lose your livelihood to a machine? Consider those who would use that machine against you in the first place. Side with free open source systems that do not generate profit. Actually consider why the problems exist and stop scapegoating and dismiss real actual tools for artists who are not traditional.

AI can make lovely stuff, I use it for references and to speed run sketches sometimes. I can input my art into certain things and run variations to find new directions for a sketch. I can visualize ideas, I can make something.

There's no reason anyone should be opposed to that.

But then, people hate collage too. People hate Tumblr gifsets and image posts made from screenshots. Those old composite gifs are "cringe" but they also took a hell of a lot of work. Just stitching together a fantasy.

not to CR DiscourseTM but maybe some of us dropped campaign 3 because the one (1) POC at the table turned out to not be a permanent addition and we were really upset because we loved him in EXU and by that point we had already started paying for dropout (#SummerOfAabria) and d20 isn't perfect but we were finally seeing POC at the table, in the plural, and maybe we decided to not spend our time watching the table full of white people and their occasional guest of color

im already tired of the 'man vs bear' debate. it went from actually meaningful discussion about sexual assault and how men need to do better to just purposefully ragebaiting incels and nothing of actual value. and that's not even getting into the fact that the discourse only focuses on survivors who are cis women, and less focus on trans survivors, enby survivors (and even male survivors for that matter). hell, transphobes have already started to invade the conversation. we need less rhetorical questions about abuse, and more actual uplifting of survivors and actual education about abuse (for all genders for that matter!)

right before anyone PANICS let's break this down. now my delivery of this is going to sound condescending because i'm gunna break it down bit by bit, but what i can understand and respect is not everyone is a native english speaker, so some of the nuance of what Joe is saying can be lost in translation.

"it did not take long to hear from spain" - spain, the country alonso is from, the country that reps him, took a hold of what albert fabrega said and decided to push the alonso -> red bull agenda with little to no evidence apart from a few paddock photos. "The word is he could pop up next year at Red Bull." tag on to the end of this sentence, 'from Spain' and that alleviates the worry. Spanish media saw Fabrega say that and pushed a media cycle that suggested that Alonso was going to Red Bull, that he could POP UP at Red Bull. Joe isn't saying here that he is going to. He's saying that's the rumour.

you've also gotta realise, Joe Saward has never been favourable towards Daniel. His words towards Daniel have usually been quite scathing, and although he tries to remain neutral, you can tell it from the undertones of his writing (again, I think this is sometimes more obvious when you are a Native English speaker, so I can understand and respect why some people miss this).

What Joe is presenting in that Notebook is the rumours that have been built from Albert Fabrega's tweet. Joe never alludes that he actually knows what the rumour is. He just discusses the discussions that emerged from that tweet?

What he's saying here is yes, it's possible. it is possible. it is something that could happen. it's possible. just as possible as me getting hit by a bus tomorrow, or winning the lottery. in the realm of possibility, si, it is something that could happen. again, nothing confirmed, nothing denied. like albert, like will buxton, like what every other f1 journalist is currently doing, joe is shit stirring to get engagement because engagement = money.
