summary : in the late night, inside NRC, you are assaulted by a few students. Having no other options, you summon your trusted fae in hopes of him giving you a hand.
warnings : a slight mention of blood and injuries
a/ n : I saw a comic like this yesterday and it inspired me to write this short story after it. Credit to the artist bun0286 on Twitter for the original story. I just wanted to write this in a bigger story because I really like the plot! Please don't harass me :') ; Hi. Yes, it's me. I'm back. After months :')
Tumblr media
Rushed footsteps could be heard outside the Night Raven Collage in the dead of night.“You can't run too far human!„ A voice said from behind. You never guessed people were awake at this our, hell, you didn't expect to be assaulted by them either! What was their problem anyway? You just wanted more snacks from the school's kitchen.
Shit. A dead end, great. You thought as you walked around the corner just as one of the three boys behind you swung his pen for a spell. “Stop running will you?„ “Hey you guys listen. Don't you know battling without permission is forbi- Ack!..Auch..„ Just when you almost reached the end of the road you tripped on a rock, causing you to fall flat on your chest. “Really now, how is this fair? A human like you being in this school? You can't even use magic! The headmage must've been quite stupid to let someone like you in this school„ Shooting another beam of magic. You've barely avoided it, as the beam shot and made a slightly deep cut on your cheek. “You're little cat isn't here to help you anymore, what are you gonna do without him? Heh. You're weak. You have no place here. And you'll never will„
Turning on your back to get up, you ran your hands on the newly formed cut. Man, can this situation get any worse? As you looked at the blood dripping from the finger slowly down your palm, you noticed it. The gift, the blessings, from your dear fae, Malleus Draconia. Ah, I guess there's no way around it huh?
* — a week ago — *
It was after hours. You've been called in the halls of the school hidden from the teacher's eyes by the one and only Malleus Draconia. I wonder why he would invite me here out of all places? Why not speak outside of Ramshackle? As you advanced in the halls you suddenly heard a silent voice. “Child of man„ “Ah Malleus! You scared me„ “Heh, my apologies, I didn't mean to startle you„ “Is uhm.. Is there a reason to why you called me here? „ “Quite. Can you give me your hand?„ “My hand? Sure..here!„ Putting your hand in his, you watched him closely to see what he was planning on doing. He silently took your hand and slowly, he kissed your hand slightly biting your index finger. “M-Malleus! What're you doing?!?„ “Fufu, your reactions are adorable as ever, my dear„ Now with a blushing face you took your sweaty hand away from Malleus. “I want you to listen closely to me, my child of man. If danger shall ever fall upon you, I want you to call me name. One call, even a silent whisper, that's all it will take for me to come and help you. I shall come to you and summon thousands of thorns on those who did you wrong. Promise me this child of man„ Malleus looked in your eyes as you did the same, a small smile slowly making its way to your face. “I promise Malleus. If I'll ever be in danger you'll be the first person I'll call. Even if it's a small whisper„ At your words Malleus gave you a smile. He believed in your loyalty, as you believed in his.
“And that's practically what happened„ “Man you really got yourself the best boyfriend in the whole Twisted Wonderland!„ The next day after school, both you and Grim were staying in the Ramshackle lounge. You figured that telling Grim this story could take his mind off of Tuna for some time. “Indeed! This story is quite intriguing!„ Startled by the mysterious voice, both you and Grim jumped back, only to be greeted by a familiar face. “Lilia-senpai! You scared me! How did you get inside?„ “Khee hee hee I have my ways human! Besides! I couldn't help but overhear your little story! Malleus never told me the events that happened in it„ “Yeah, I would tell you more but...I was so embarrassed I can barely recall all of the things he said„ Lilia's eyes curiously trailed over your figure, only to stop at your fingers. He was the first to notice the thorn-like tattoo on your index finger. The one that Malleus had kissed the night before, just a bit lighter than your skin, almost invisible. Lilia's eyes winded at the sight of it. “Oh my would you look at that! Did you and Malleus make a deal perhaps?„ “I-...what?„ Scooting closer to your face, Lilia looked right into your eyes.“I'm surprised you didn't notice it sooner! That mark on your finger there is quite the big deal you know? How did you do it?„ “I- well...it wasn't really a deal...it was more of like...a promise„ “Hm..is that so? Khee hee hee, you're a really lucky one. That mark, rather, that promise you made has given you quite the gift. As I said before, this is no big thing, it's a spell made directly by Malleus, the future king of the Brair Valley. It's both a blessing and a curse. This spell grants you protection, a protection that is formed by your strong bond and that alone. Shall Malleus' feelings change... you'll end up being covered by thousands of thorns. A charm from a fairy ....
* — present time — *
Yes. A charm from a fairy... Getting up and taking a few steps back, you closed your eyes, taking a deep breath. “Heh what are you gonna do now? Cast a spell?„ And you said it. A small whisper, one that couldn't be heard, not even by the three boys in front of you. But didn't he say it? That's all it took.
One time a thunder stuck...then twice, and then thrice. “Huh? Thunder, there aren't even clouds in the sky„ The ground shook, slightly, but enough for the four to feel it. Another thunder could be heard, accompanied by a bright big flame that appeared behind your back. Two big wings had emerged from it and there he was, Malleus, he had come to help, just like he promised to do. “You called? Child of man? Fufu, having fun, aren't you all?„ “Is that? - Th- That's... that's Malleus Draconia!„ As he was standing behind, you felt an arm hook around your waist, pulling you close. “Ah! Malleus you came! Of course. You had called, and I had come to help, just like I promised that night„ As Malleus was looking at you, you noticed the three boys trying to run anyway, just to be stopped by a thick wall of thorns, blocking their way out. “Now now, don't tell me you want to escape? You wanted a duel, did you not?„ Summoning his staff, Malleus brought you even closer to him. Looking at his face, his bright green eyes had a tint of amusement in them. Of course he won't take them seriously. “Come on you three! I suppose you'll do your best? Hm, well, even if you did.... You won't be able to defeat me„

whoops. (1/2)
rating: pg-13 at the most, and most of it is for language. pairing: past - and kind of present - grace nakimura/gabriel knight. trigger warnings: pregnancy. mentions of the occult. grace's lack of brain cells (affectionate). not beta'd. summary: eight weeks after the events that took place in rennes-le-château, grace finds her hopes into being a big damn hero put on a hold. also known as, no one is going to write it, jane has left us on read about it, so i'm going to do it.
eight weeks.
In hindsight, she should’ve known something was amiss; no, it wasn’t her being late, either. Grace had dealt with irregular periods since she was thirteen. After the first month of nothing, she didn’t think much about it. She was too busy settling into a flat in Mumbai and chalked it up to her body working like it usually did—coffee and those powdery doughnuts convenient stores like to sell—to pay too much attention. Then the second month went by, and Grace said, “well, might be stress,” because she was once again going halfway around the world trying to be a Big Damn Hero.
Better reasons this time around, but the same story.
Her jeans fit a little tightly. Her breasts were sore, tender really. It was the heartburn—Christ. She was thirty. Surely, thirty was too young to worry about heartburn? Especially after eating a jalapeno, when she grew up eating spices that were way warmer—that made her suspicious. Maybe she was sick; maybe it was some sort of stress of moving across the world, with only a letter to a man she would always love more than he’d love her, and a short phone call to her parents in New York.
Sometimes she thought about e-mailing Gabriel.
She never did. Not because she hated him, but because she was afraid he hated her.
I wouldn’t blame him if he did, was what she told herself, because for all his faults, she wasn’t always innocent either.
“You’re young,” Gerde had told her when Grace chalked up the courage to give her a real, sincere apology. Grace had bristled at that at first—twenty-four wasn’t young; she was a grown woman—but Gerde just gave her a knowing look that said, see? Then they shared a beer and spent most of the night talking about history, about philosophy, and for a rare time she saw how Gerde spoke about the late Wolfgang without hedging on sadness, but a sort of fondness, and Grace remembered thinking, wow, I hope I love someone like that one day.
She had a photo of him, of Gabriel, in her wallet. Of course, it wasn’t only him, but Mosley was there, too. Gabriel had his arm around his best friend while looking into the camera with a smug grin.
Out of all the things she missed about Gabriel Knight, it was that smug grin of his.
Eight weeks. Eight weeks passed and she spent it making her small flat livable, while pouring herself in whatever Chandrel threw at her. Mostly, it was meditation—apparently, she had trouble centering herself and opening her mind, ergo, she was stubborn—and research. Which was fine. Learn how to count before you could add or subtract. Didn’t stop her from being restless and wanting to advance when she was four, and it was still the same at thirty.
What gave it away, what finally made her think, huh, my body has been acting weird so I should investigate it, was the smell of incense. It was during a meditation with the other initiates when something when she got a whiff of something so foul, so unimaginably rancid, she shot up from the pillow she saw on to throw up her breakfast in a potted plant.
“Meditation isn’t for everyone,” a Nigerian undergrad named Aretta joked, but her brown eyes were sympathetic when another wave of nausea hit.
That day she purchased three pregnancy texts. She realized a little too late where she purchased from did not have an English translation so, with swallowing her pride and humiliation, and because she felt she needed to apologize for what happened earlier, she handed the sticks to a baffled Chandrel who was outside, trimming the weeds on his knees.
“Sorry about...” she trailed off, not wanting to allow the word ‘vomit’ to escape her mouth, ‘else if she thought about it too much, she might repeat it. Chandrel was proud of his garden, and he had been nothing but a good friend; he didn’t deserve that. “Um. I don’t... I know a few words in Hindi, but I don’t know if this is Tamil, or...”
“Marathi,” Chandrel said with bemusement. Sometimes, when he spoke to her, it felt like he was speaking to a child, and while a part of her wanted to bristle like she did when Gerde called her young, a larger part of her allowed herself to be humbled. Maybe the meditation thing was working, or maybe she was simply growing up. He took the tests—a brow quirked knowingly—with brown eyes staring at the results for a moment, before handing them back to her. “Congratulations are in order, I assume. Or condolences.”
Whoops.
twelve weeks.
She had typed out an e-mail to Gabriel about, oh, five thousand and twenty-two times. Sometimes she just ranted at him, blamed him, as if she wasn’t a willing participant; as if she hadn’t thought about what happened—although maybe she would’ve wanted the situation to be a bit different—a thousand times before it did. Sometimes she gave into self-flagellation and apologized to him. For envying him. For wanting to be him at some point, even if half of that want was merely her doing her best to ignore the growing unrequited feelings that blossomed without her saying so. For leaving without a proper goodbye because, despite it all, he changed her life for the better.
She went to New Orleans to grow up, to make her own choices, and applying for that job at Saint George’s did exactly that.
The ones that she’d never send were the ones to which she told him she loved him. That it was fine that he didn’t feel the same, she heard him tell Mosely as much, and what happened, while it meant a great deal to her, probably wasn’t the wisest idea for either of them. That wouldn’t change how she felt and maybe, someday, they could continue being friends. Just friends with a Whoops in their lives.
Sometimes she wrote letters, actual handwritten letters, even if the new millennium was dawning and no one wrote letters anymore. Hell, it took Grace weeks to convince him to use a computer than his typewriter.
She knew she could call. At least, she could call Gerde, who was a good friend, had been a supportive friend even if their initial meeting was awful, if only to reassure her that she was fine. She hadn’t spoken to her since returning briefly to Rittersburg to collect her things. They had hugged, Gerde had wished her well, and while the woman wanted to pry, she had the grace to keep any questions silent.
Every e-mail was deleted; every written letter was crumbled up and tossed in the bin.
“I have bigger fish to fry,” she had told herself, unconsciously rubbing the small bump. Most women don’t show their first time around, or not really, but Grace found herself rubbing that spot where the smallest of bulges formed more and more as of late. “I still have to tell my parents.”
Thinking about telling Gabriel made her heart hurt; telling her parents made her heart go into overdrive into a flat-out panic attack. Not good for Whoops, the doctors had said, so she decided not to tell them. At least, not yet. Maybe when she could look her very, very traditionalist parents, who came to America when she was three so she could have the best life possible, in the eye and say, “well, you always wanted to be grandparents!” without dying from sheer terror.
“What are you going to do about Whoops?” Aretta had asked, braids placed in a bun on top of her head as she walked with Grace arm and arm toward some hole-in-the-wall food joint that Grace had been constantly craving, regardless of heartburn. While low-rise jeans were becoming a style, Grace enjoyed the high-rise variety, especially when she knew soon most of her blouses would not fit. They were already snug at the bust area, much to both her horror and slight amazement. “Have you considered—”
“Everything,” she told the younger woman with a great big sigh. “I even started to make an appointment at the clinic like you suggested, but...”
Aretta did not, nor would she ever, judge, and merely offered a small smile. She and Gerde would’ve gotten along a lot quicker than she and Gerde did. Then again, that was Grace’s own blunder, not Gerde’s. “It was only a suggestion, Grace,” Aretta soothed, “the choice is yours alone. It is your body, after all, not mine.”
Grace nodded and offered a small smile.
Having their fill of samosas with chola, they spent the rest of their time going over the bestiary sitting crisscross-applesauce in the middle of her flat, that still had yet to be fully unboxed, scribbling their own experiences—well, Grace’s, anyway, since all Aretta knew was what her mother had taught her—in the margin of their notebooks.
Whoops still hovered in the background. Hard not to when all she felt was bloated, gassy, or rarely—and she counted herself grateful since her mother had often said that carrying Grace meant she was spending more time over the toilet than having any sort of pregnancy glow—throwing up. Tucking her raven hair behind her ear, thinking she ought to give it a trim because it was growing too long, she blurted out, “What if I keep it? Whoops? I mean, it shouldn’t be too hard, right? Women have kids alone all the time.”
Aretta made a noncommittal sound, and Grace continued, “I don’t need Gabriel. He always said he was terrified of settling down, anyway, so, me not telling him is just honoring his wishes.” Another noncommittal sound came from Aretta who, if Grace was anywhere but her head, would think it almost sounded amused. “He compared me to a nagging Ikea furniture, anyway, so there’s no loss there. Really. Also, my parents? Well, they can’t kill me if I show up in Manhattan in a year from now just, you know, shoving a baby at them and say, surprise! I can say I adopted it!”
“Mmm,” and for being younger than Grace, with those dark discerning eyes and a patient grin. “It is your choice, like I said,” and this would be when she finally would take her eyes from the notebook she had been scribbling on, a toothy grin that showcased her gapped teeth she wore proudly. Not like Grace. Grace begged for braces to correct hers. “You do not need to convince me, Grace, but I think you need to convince yourself.”
Which, when Grace came down from the neurotic burst, she had to release it like the gas that kept her up all night, she allowed. And after a long moment, after deliberating every pro and con, imagining every sort of scenario, Grace was left with this. “I want to keep Whoops.”
Aretta snorted, “You might need to figure out a name other than Whoops, then.”
twenty-four weeks.
It was closing in at the cut off where she could travel internationally. The midwife she had been seeing so far had told her she was pushing it, but since her pregnancy was going on without a hitch, then it should be fine. The old woman even gave her a doctor’s note in case there was any trouble.
Aretta drove her to the airport. Chadrel had to run the academy but gave her his blessing. “The both of you are always welcome back, Grace,” he had told her.
“It’s not forever,” she reassured him with a laugh. She never got to get her hair trimmed, decided to wear it in a braid because it was the easiest thing she could do in the mornings. “We’ll be back soon. Just need to tie up some loose ends.”
A knowing look, “I take it you aren’t going to the States?”
“Not until Whoops is born and I can hide behind her, because I’m pretty sure my mother won’t kill me if I’m holding a baby.” It was the only thing that kept her nerves at bay, really, when it came to telling her parents. They were traditional, yes, but Grace knew they loved her more than life itself. She was their only one, after all. They never understood her wanting to go to New Orleans, or wanting to go to Germany, or even India, but they had supported her, nonetheless.
Mostly, she just didn’t want to disappoint them.
Just like she hoped her daughter, her Whoops, wouldn’t be disappointed by her.
Funny. For a while, she had thought she was carrying a boy; she had assumed that most of the Ritters were males, anyway.
She had written to Gerde a week before she bought her ticket. She hadn’t told her about Whoops, yet—which was a bit mean, really, just showing up pregnant, but for all Grace wanted to be a big damn hero she was mostly a big damn coward—but did ask if she could stop by. This sort of thing was a conversation one had in person, not phone or e-mail or letter.
Of course, Gerde had written. We left your room the same. Gabriel has been out a lot, recently, but I know he would be happy to see you.
“You’ll call, or write, when you get there.” No questions, but straight facts as Aretta pulled her into a hug, which she returned as best as her bump allowed. Although small, it still made moving around difficult. “You gave me the address to that big fancy castle. If you don’t write, you bet your ass I will.”
And with that, Grace boarded the plane, not yet waddling like a duck, thank God.
While Mumbai wasn’t as cold as Germany, and she would spend a great deal of the flight burning up, she dressed in her warm maternity clothes. Rittercastle was in the mountains and while she remembered it being picturesque and almost something out of a fairytale, she also remembered how cold the castle was even with heating installed, and how she spent more nights next to a fire than not. New Orleans spoiled her. She grew up with the cold. Now she couldn’t stand anything below fifty degrees.
Two things that were fortuitous when Grace Nakimura made it to Rittersburg Castle: one, light snow which made finding a cab to take her to her destination rather easy; two, when she arrived, Gabriel wasn’t there, which would give her even more time to explain herself.
She used that time to explain to Gerde who, when she opened the door to greet her, noticed her bump as soon as Grace walked inside.
“You’ve been busy.”
Grace smirked, “you have no idea.”
And that was how she spent the first night in Rittersburg after many months; sipping hot cocoa, sitting on the couch beside Gerde, telling her everything that happened. From Chadrel, to what happened in France, telling her about Aretta, and then to Whoops. Gerde snorted into her own cup of cocoa at the nickname. “Whoops?”
“It felt appropriate,” Grace defended, “and nothing seems to fit her.”
Gerde’s blue eyes twinkled. “Her?”
Grace gave an almost shy smile, nodding. She felt ridiculous for being so bashful about Whoops. From the moment she felt her fluttering about inside her, letting Grace know that under no uncertain terms she was there, to even showing everyone at the academy the sonogram photos she had taken. It was ridiculous. She knew this was ridiculous, entertaining raising a child, but as every single day went by, she couldn’t see a life without Whoops.
“You haven’t told Gabriel,” Gerde surmised. Grace nodded, causing the blonde woman to place her cup on the coffee table in front of them, and gave her a look that was far older than a woman of her age. Sometimes Grace forgot she was technically older than Gerde with how she carried herself. Just like Aretta. “I am going to be honest with you, Grace, he’s been—sad.” Gerde made a face as if saying, no, that wasn’t the right word for it, and began again. “He still jokes, he still writes, but there is something missing. He still talks to his grandmother, but that seems to be the only thing that really makes him happy.”
Well. Shit.
“You think Whoops would make him happy?” Grace asked, incredulously; easier to be obtuse than understand that, with how Gerde sounded so somber, Grace had to at least be partially the reason for his moods. Grace wasn’t arrogant enough to assume she broke his heart, but she knew that, while he’d never return her feelings, he still cared about her. That they were friends.
Gerde allowed Grace to take the easy way out, if not for now, with how she snorted once more. “For a man who swears he is terrified of the idea of family, he keeps his own close to his heart,” which was fair. Rebecca Knight all but raised Gabriel, after all; if Mosley and Grace were his friends, Rebecca was his best friend, his world at that. And the fact he did mourn Wolfgang, even if he only knew him a brief time, the reason why he began the journey was to honor him in some way. A sense of duty.
Well, that was how Grace saw it, anyway.
She also remembered how he would always make time to visit his grandfather’s, his mother’s, and his father’s tomb, too.
“I’m afraid,” Grace admitted, still sipping on her beverage. “Not...not just for me, you know, but her. I know Gabriel can be the world’s biggest ass, so can I, and I am not worried about him being an ass to her—damnit.” A groan. “I chose to be a Schattenjäger. Gabriel had to become one.”
“And you are afraid that your daughter will not have a choice?” Gerde summed up effortlessly. “We all have a choice, Grace. That is one choice she will not have to make for many years yet. If I were you, I would focus on telling Gabriel—”
“Tellin’ me what?” A heavily accented voice accompanied by boots on the castle ground.
Grace began to choke on her cocoa, causing Gerde to move and pat her back.

late night visits II k.mccabe x reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i think this is the longest fic i've written so far but as she deserves, katie is so lover girl coded and no one can convince me otherwise
late night visits II k.mccabe x reader 7.3K words
"katie!" the irishwoman glanced up with a squint, standing taller to try and see over the crowd of drunken bodies packing the bar. finally she spotted her friends jammed into a booth toward the back and pushed her way through toward them.
"jesus is there like a two for one special on drinks tonight or what?" katie huffed as she took the vacant seat beside leah, looking around at the hordes of patrons around them. the little restaurant and bar was hardly unknown, however it rarely got this busy.
"guess our little secret isn't so secret anymore." jen chuckled, sliding katie a rum and coke she'd ordered her earlier as the irishwoman sent her a grateful smile before necking it. "slow down katie! it's not a race." beth laughed with a shake of her head as the irishwoman grinned.
"almost every bar in manchester was like this it took like a half an hour to even be served!" alessia piped up, seated beside leah and across from jen. the small group of girls deciding at training earlier today they'd go out for a drink tonight since there wasn't a match this weekend.
the invitation had been extended to the whole team but a lot had plans to go and see partners or family in the short few days break.
"oh we don't have that issue here, do we katie?" jen teased with a smirk as the girl in question rolled her eyes. "i don't even know if she's workin jen, lay off!" she defended. :please like you haven't memorised her schedule by now." leah joined in with a chuckle.
"i feel like im missing some context here?" alessia piped up with a confused frown, not quite following along with the light hearted teasing.
"katies sleeping with one of the bar tenders." beth eagerly filled the younger blonde in as viv smacked her on the shoulder with a look of disapproval. "are you?" alessias curious gaze turned to katie who groaned.
"sometimes. it doesn't matter anyway its none of any of your businesses!" the brunette warned sternly, sending a particularly harsh look toward laura who couldn't seem to stop herself from laughing at the situation.
"wonderful. you can get the next round then!" leah grinned and gave her a shove almost sending the girl flying onto her ass out of the booth as katie shot leah a glare but nonetheless stood to her feet.
"russo you're coming with me, i need extra hands and you're the least annoying one present tonight." katie gestured toward the girl who scrambled quickly over leah.
"thank you…i think?" alessia frowned as katie slung an arm over her shoulder, tugging her away from the group who resumed their chatter. "so is she here?" the blonde asked looking around eagerly as they finally got to the bar.
"that one." katie gave in with a sigh, nudging alessia and pointing you out where you were busy making cocktails at the other end of the bar. "she's gorgeous." alessia stated with a nod of approval as katie couldn't help but chuckle, small talk made between the two as they waited for someone to come take their order.
someone who katie secretly hoped was you.
meanwhile you joked around around with a few regulars, making sure to maintain the bright smile on your face despite how much harder you were needing to work tonight, the growing frustration inside you that as per usual your boss had understaffed for a busy night to save money.
"well well, i thought i heard security talking about trouble brewing." you greeted the familiar irishwoman with a grin as you wiped your damp hands on your apron, katies own face curling into a smug smile as she shamelessly checked you out.
admittedly the brunette was somewhat of a weak spot for you, there was just something about her cheeky grin which oozed confidence, paired with that strong accent and effortless charm she made your knees buckle.
you wound up a messy of sweaty limbs tangled in one another's bedsheets far more often than you'd care to admit, reaching out to one another at all sorts of hours with all sorts of excuses for your late night visits.
it should have been a seemingly easy relationship, you used one another for whatever was needed without really holding any responsibilities for how the other felt.
the first time you'd slept together was a few months ago and you'd both agreed it was just a one time thing. merely a drunken fling as you and katie had shared a few drinks once you'd clocked off for the night, which inevitably ended in your sweaty bodies pressed up together in her bed a couple of hours later.
yet months later and here she still was, looking you up and down with a hungry glint in her eyes probably imagining the lustful activities she hoped would be happening later on.
there was just one small problem to all of this, which was that you secretly wanted more. you wanted her in a way where it didn't feel transactional, where you weren't just a late night thought but rather could be someone meaningful to her.
but you knew that wasn't on the cards for katie and so you'd convinced yourself into a firm state of delusion where it didn't hurt to continue on like nothing had changed and you didn't secretly hope for more.
your friends had begged you end it, seeing how much it knocked your normally confident persona down, playing on your self esteem and picking at insecurities you didn't even know were there as you couldn't help but wonder why she only wanted to keep it casual if it was such a seemingly common occurence.
you couldn't quite say when things had started to shift,. as at first you were more than satisfied with just being friends with benefits, barely meeting the friends part since you hardly knew anything about one another.
maybe that's what had made it easier in the early stages, that lack of knowledge and impersonal connection. you didn't know anything about football nor did you care to change that, so of course to you she was just a girl, not some big celebrity superstar athlete.
thats not to say she didn't show her athletic prowess in other ways, the irishwoman had the best stamina you'd ever seen and could go for hours without even needing a water break.
and when the relationship was only transactional, impersonal and occasional, you were fine with it.
but lately, lately things had been different. and it had all started a couple of weeks ago.
once the two of you had finished for the night, katie had stuck around. she begun to ask questions, about you, your work, your family, and to your shock seemed actually interested in the answers.
she hadn't stayed the night, only for a couple of hours and a cup of tea but it was out of the ordinary behavior from your usual arrangement. though you'd tried not to dwell on it too much, knowing that overthinking it was dangerous.
but then it had happened again the next time, and again the time after that. katie once more asking you question after question, and if she wasn't doing that she was telling you the more intimate details of her life and her family, or debriefing about a particularly hard training session or her concerns for an upcoming match.
without even realising it she'd kicked down your walls and she'd done the worst possible thing in a friends with benefits situation, she'd begun to accidentally indulge you into what it could be like if the two of you were more.
~
"we're completely out of bacardi and we're running low on jager." nathan, one of your coworkers, popped up beside you as you bent down to grab a cider for a customer from the fridges under the bar.
now counting down until the end of your shift, you were endlessly grateful you weren't on close tonight. though things had begun to die down, the more rowdier of patrons beginning to be moved on by security, you knew there would be some that lingered long into the night.
"there's more downstairs, i'll go stock up before i finish so you don't need to worry about it. can you handle this for awhile?" you offered, the boy sighing in relief and nodding with an appreciative smile.
you untied your apron and tossed it under the counter, jumping over the small gate at the end of the bar and ducking around the corner where only staff were allowed.
busying yourself quickly checking your phone you hadn't noticed someone follow, someone whose eyes had been trained to you most of the night, who'd been relentlessly teased by her friends for exactly that.
"scuse me but has anyone ever told you your bum looks quite peachy in those shorts?" your eyes flickered up from your screen as the brunette grinned cheekily, taking a few steps toward you as you shook your head and slipped your phone into your pocket.
"just drunken creeps who i've had kicked out right afterwards." you smiled, katies hands finding their way to your hips as she gently pressed you into the wall, blue eyes twinkling mischievously.
"send them my way next time, i'll be sure to teach em some manners about how to treat a pretty girl." katies smile widened as her eyes flickered down toward your lips.
"i'm still on the clock here mccabe." you chuckled, pushing her off gently as you knew what would happen next if you didn't. "well then when do you get off?" she asked, pressing her body back into yours as you shook your head.
"in an hour." you revealed watching her lips curl into a smirk. "then i'll meet you out back by your car." the older girl spoke suggestively, face so close to yours you could feel the warm tickle of her breath against your lips but then just like that she was gone, striding off back into the public area seeking out her friends.
with a sigh and a shake of your head you straightened up, banishing the lust which clouded your mind and hurrying off downstairs to the dry store.
~
of course katie wound up in your bed that night, a chorus of moans of plesure and lips smacking together in sloppy kisses, crisp linen gripped in white knuckled fists with sweaty limbs tangled.
this was then once again followed by a cup of tea and soft conversations about your childhood pets, quite the contrast from your previous activites.
then things only became stranger that next morning.
sundays were always your day off so you'd never have alarms set, allowing your body to wake you up whenever it was ready, purposefully never setting up any plans or commitments you needed to arise early for.
so when your eyes fluttered open around eleven in the morning, your room still quite dark due to an overcast and cloudy day, nothing seemed out of sorts.
it wasn't until you shifted tiredly that you felt someone move beside you. your body was instantly jolted awake, and that's when you became aware of the warm arm draped lazily over your naked midsection, an arm that was not yours.
with a sharp intake of breath you slowly turned your head to the side, seeing a mop of brunette hair sprawled across the pillows, duvet only partially covering her half naked form, tanned back moving up and down as she slept soundly with her face smushed into the mattress, and your eyes widened at the sudden realisation that katie had slept over.
she never slept over, even spending a few hours chatting your ear off with a cup of tea she'd never stayed afterwards. you weren't sure if she could hear but your hate rate began to thunder in your ears, thumping like horses hooves against a track as your cheeks flushed scarlet red.
"i can feel your eyes burning a hole into the side of my head ya know." the irishwoman finally spoke, accent somehow thicker in her half awake state as she gently pushed herself up and flopped onto her side with a tired sigh.
your skin burned where her arm had been as she retracted it, running a hand through her hair and flicking it to one side of her head, blinking tiredly with a stretch as your eyes did their best not to fall directly down to her bare chest.
"you can look you know, certainly did last night." she grinned, immediately noticing your internal struggle as her own blue eyes shamelessly roamed your naked body with a hungry glint before you tucked yourself more into the duvet making her chuckle.
"you stayed over." was all you could manage to spit out, raising an eyebrow in surprise. "with observations like that you could give up bar tending for some detective work." katie smiled teasingly as you rolled over and grabbed your top off the floor.
slipping it over your head to somewhat cover up you tossed katie's at hers, the material smacking her in the face as you sat up, snatching your underwear off the floor and wiggling quickly into it.
"you've never stayed over." you made your point a little firmer, slipping out of the bed as katie now sat up, tugging her own shirt on.
"well we were talking in bed and i guess we both fell asleep." the irishwoman shrugged casually, grabbing her suit pants off the floor and slipping into them, buttoning them as she stood. you only hummed not really believing her as the action was so out of character, but you were too tired to argue as you tied your hair up into a messy bun.
"you should come to the game today, there's still tickets." katie spoke up again, sat on the end of the bed as she laced up her shoes. you choking on your own spit at the shock from her statement, the girl glancing over her shoulder with an amused smile before turning back round, not mentioning anything more than that.
you walked her to the front door wordlessly, cogs going into overdrive in your mind, almost in shock katie couldn't hear how loud your overthinking was right now.
"catch you later maybe kid." katie winked charmingly, pressing a kiss to your cheek and stepping out the front door. striding down your driveway without a single look back she slipped into an uber as you touched your cheek and slowly closed your front door.
oh you were down bad, and maybe it was time you started dealing with it.
~
and that exact thought was how you found yourself huddled among a small group of your friends, rain drizzling down on your head and body tucked into itself trying to utilise your body heat to warm up.
your friend mathew was doing his very best to keep you interested, explaining every little rule and tactic that he could as the match dragged on, desperate to try and up your enthusiasm of what was apparently a fantastic game being played.
the poor boy raised a die hard arsenal fan was over the moon when you'd loosely mentioned attending as the two of you caught up for brunch. within five minutes he'd somehow conjured you up a ticket, forced you into a jersey, talked your ear off the entire car ride and here you were.
you'd chosen not to mention that the girl you were so hung up who was in your bed at least twice a week nowadays was the katie mccabe, you'd not told any of your friends her actual name only referring to her as 'bar girl', and so the only ones who could have put two and two together were maybe your coworkers.
though all of you were generally so run off your feet most nights they hardly batted an eyelid into your personal life, too focused on making it home to their own beds rather than being hung up on who was sneaking into yours.
"oh they're doing a lap! come on i wanna get my shirt signed by viv if i can she's one of the only ones im missing." mathew eagerly grabbed your hand, practically yanking you out of your chair and away from the rest of your friends who you hastily waved goodbye to.
"you know if i just gave you my jersey one time-" "no matty, the answer will always be a no." you chuckled, despite not knowing of your late night visitors identity the boy did know the arsenal girls frequented your workplace, and he was forever pestering you about having them sign something
you'd held firm with a no, and would continue to.
one of the main reasons the girls continued to come back was that you all made sure to treat them like actual people, and despite being more than household names your regulars tended to leave them be most of the time as well, most of the time.
you hung by yourself away from the main crowd eagerly chatting to the players, leaning against the barrier and busying yourself organizing to cover a few vacant shifts next week.
trying to save to upgrade your car you would take any extra money you could get at the moment, now only a few thousand away from your goal.
"want me to sign that for ya?" your head lifted at the familiar accent, meeting her mischievous blue eyes as she gave you an alluringly cheeky smile.
"no thanks i'm waiting for a starter, not a bench warmer." you quipped back, slipping your phone into your pocket as katie feigned offence.
"how about a goal scorer then?" the brunette moved a little closer, leaning on the barrier with her hands as your eyes drifted down to her well toned arms before flickering back upwards, which didn't go unnoticed by the irishwoman.
"oh did you score? didn't see." you brushed it off with a shrug, katie opening her mouth to speak but falling silent as mathew appeared back by your side, slinging an arm over your shoulder.
at the sight katies stomach flipped a little and her jaw clenched, she watched the boys mouth move, words clearly directed toward her as she only hummed and sent him a polite smile, barely listening.
"well well well, look who it is. our favourite bartender!" the brunette snapped back out of it as jen appeared by her side with a smirk, closely followed by beth. "i thought you weren't a football fan." beth teased, and katie watched as you gestured to the boy beside you, blaming him for your attendance.
you picked up on katies lack of joining into the conversation, trying to catch her attention again but eventually having to excuse yourself and mathew as you had dinner plans. "oo a hot date is it?" beth teased, shooting katie a subtle side eye, the blonde also picking up on her lack of effort to join in.
"every sunday! she loves me for my roast dinners." mathew grinned, pressing a sloppy kiss to your cheek as you gagged sarcastically and pushed his face away.
"see you round then." you smiled, directing the comment more toward katie than anyone else, frowning a little as she blanked you and walked off without so much as a glance your way.
~
you didn't see or hear from katie for the next few days, which wasn't all that abnormal seeing as since the two of you were just casually sleeping around you hardly had a regular routine of meet ups.
however when you did finally see her again it wasn't under circumstances you expected.
you were covering the closing shift for nathan tonight as it was his 30th birthday. the seemingly quiet Wednesday not one of your normal rostered days it seemed to be a running joke among the regulars present.
yet no matter how many times you heard the same one liner you still faked a laugh and a grin, watching the tip jar fill up gradually as you did so with a satisfied smile.
given it wasn't all that busy you found yourself people watching in the odd pockets of free time which fell your way, a habit which was easily one of your favorite perks of the job. yourself and your coworkers often busied yourself dreaming up extravagant imaginary lives for the drunken strangers occupying the bar.
but that was how you spotted her, tucked away in a table toward the back and not by herself, an unfamilar blonde sat beside her and the two seemed quite cosy. you watched with a frown as katie mucked about with the blonde, kissing her on the cheek as the girl shoved her away with a grin.
you couldn't but feel as though you'd been punched in the stomach as you wrenched your eyes away, plastering a fake smile on your face and hurrying off to serve a patron.
thankfully you managed to avoid interacting with the irishwoman for the most part, katie too busy entertaining her date as the blonde came up a few times to grab them both drinks, and by some miracle she'd been served by someone else each time.
though of course that luck didn't last.
as the bar began to empty you busied yourself starting to pack down and clean glasses. but you watched on hopelessly as katie made her way over and with your coworker for the night already occupied with other patrons you knew you'd have no way of avoiding her.
"hey." was all the brunette said with a smile that you returned, handing her a rum and a coke like she always ordered and waiting for if she wanted anything else. "oh nah just a water for me i'm drivin, and a glass of house red please." you nodded and wordlessly prepared her drinks.
"just 8.40." you placed the eftpos machine up on the counter as katie tapped her card and hearing the beep you turned back to what you were doing. "hey, can i see you later?" you glanced up realizing she hadn't left yet, lingering at the counter with her drinks in hand and a hopeful look in her eyes.
"i'm on close tonight." you shook your head and katie frowned, unsure why you seemed so upset with her. "i just wanted to-" the brunette started but you cut her off with a scoff, in disbelief she was really trying to come onto you while out with another woman.
casual or not you had higher standards for yourself than that, and maybe your friends were right and it was time you started to treat yourself with a little more kindness.
"i'm working katie, just leave me alone." and with that you ducked out back before the irishwoman could even say another word, stunned at the somewhat aggressive tone which still lingered in the air after your abrupt exit.
~
since the frosty encounter katie had tried to call and message you but with no response and left on read she'd taken the hint and had backed off.
she'd still been around with her team mates over the weekend for dinner in the restaurant but didn't dare come to order a drink at the bar since you were on shift.
most of the girls gave up questioning her about what had happened, noticing that something had shifted between the two of you, and with a stern warning from the irishwoman hadn't dared to ask you about it either.
but ever persistent and hating to see the obvious discontent hidden behind her friends eyes that the others missed, leah continued to press her for an answer.
"oh for fuck sakes cause she's got a boyfriend leah!" katie eventually snapped and gave in as the blonde had once more cornered her for an interrogation. "what! are you sure? since when?" leah frowned, crossing her arms over her chest and leaning against the wall.
"i dunno! i met him at that game she came to, he's not even a good lookin fella." katie huffed with a roll of her eyes, sitting down at her locker and beginning to take off her boots. "i thought that she seemed quite into you?" leah sat down beside her as katie sighed deeply.
"i don't know i thought she was. we'd been talking a lot, getting to know each other better, it was starting to feel like more but i guess not. ever since i met him she's been blankin me so i guess whatever it was with us is over now." katie shrugged it off, not wanting to dwell on the subject as she brushed leah off to go for a shower.
"and please don't tell anyone leah!"
and leah tried not to, she really did. but when beth continued to pester katie and she could see the annoyance building, she figured she would be doing the girl a favour by filling the girl in.
"wait that was her boyfriend? i was only joking about the date thing." beth frowned, both girls having filled the other in over a coffee. "did they seem like they were? katie said she's ghosted her ever since so i guess it makes sense?" leahs eyebrows knitted together in confusion.
little did they both know just how wrong they were.
~
"oh! thats him, thats the boyfriend." beths eyes widened as she gripped leahs bicep, yanking her around to look where she pointed, mathew hanging around chatting to a few of their team mates.
"wait him? i've met that guy a bunch times he's here almost every match." leah realised, beth tightening her grip on her and marching the two of them in the boys direction.
"no personal bartender with you today then?" beth plastered a smile on her face, not wanting to go in with all guns blazing and scare the poor guy off. "oh her? please it took me almost twenty two years to get that girl to come to one game!" the boy laughed and re-introduced himself at beths subtle request.
"twenty two years?" leah frowned a little at the timeline, trying to piece it together. "yeah we go way back, grew up together since we were kids. pretty sure our parents were convinced we were gonna get married someday!" he joked with a grin, beth and leah exchanging a look.
"were?"
"well yeah, when they realised i liked boys and she liked girls that put a bit of a pin in their plans." mathew chuckled, leahs face paling as beth bit her lip to hide a smile at their obvious blunder. "so you two aren't..." beth gestured as the boys eyes widened and he laughed harder.
"please! god no. why, are one of you interested?" he winked, well aware of their ongoing presence at your workplace.
"but no she's very much so single. i've begged her to let me get her back into the dating scene but she's hopelessly hung up on some girl she's been sleeping with for months now-" the boy rolled his eyes, and had you been present you'd have smacked the living daylights out of him for oversharing, his favorite habit.
"-but this girl only wants something casual where as she wants more. so i've tried to get her to cut it off but she's convinced it doesn't hurt to keep it going, which i know her like the back of my hand and believe me, it's hurting her." mathew sighed with a shake of his head, eyes widening when he realized who he was actually talking to.
"but i am very very certain that she would kill me for sharing all of that so please if you see her at the bar don't mention it. i'd quite like to live to see next week i have tickets to next weekends match." the boy joked, glancing over his shoulder as a few of his friends called out for him.
"well fantastic game girls it was lovely speaking to you both. thank you for your time and i am very sorry for filling it with my own voice." he winced apologetically, flashing them a dazzling smile before hurrying off after his friends.
"find katie?" "find katie."
~
you looked over your shoulder in surprise as there was a knock at your door, a quick tap of your phone screen showing it was nearly half seven at night, hardly a time for a door to door salesmen to be coming round, and most of your friends knew where your spare key was and never hesitated to let themselves in.
pausing the episode of love island you were catching up on as you cooked, you tucked your phone into the pocket of your hoodie and padded over to the door, cautiously opening it as another knock sounded.
"we need to talk."
you stepped back as katie shot past you, a blur of red having just come from a video study debrief for the teams upcoming match against chelsea.
she knew you didn't work sundays so took a shot in the dark that you'd be home, grateful it paid off as you closed your door. "please, come in!" you scoffed at her abruptness, following after her into the kitchen.
"i'm not sleeping with you." you started firmly, crossing your arms over your chest as katie now scoffed, taking a seat at the kitchen bench. "when i said we needed to talk, i meant with our mouths and not with our tongues." the irishwoman quipped back causing a slight blush to creep over your cheeks.
"what's there to talk about katie?" you withheld a groan at the intrusion, ignoring her patting the seat beside her for you to sit down as if she was in her own home, instead you chose to stay standing a few feet away from her.
"why you're actin funny with me." the brunette folded her arms sternly and raised an eyebrow, now thanks to her faithful blonde friends she knew you didn't have a boyfriend she wanted answers as to why you'd been ignoring her.
"i've just been busy." you lied, turning your back to her and busying yourself resuming the chopping and prepping for your dinner, hoping with some minimal responses the brunette would grow tired and hopefully leave.
"bullshit, ya never ignore me entirely." katie held firm, and you could feel her eyes bore into the back of your head like lasers. "why do you even care? its not like we're dating or you can't get your needs met elsewhere." you added the last part a little bitterly, a pause of silence falling between the two of you.
"and what's that supposed to mean then?" katie scoffed, raising an eyebrow at the obvious change of tone. "you know what it means i'm not spelling it out for you." you shook your head, the only sound being your knife hitting the board as you chopped up the peppers.
"jesus would you stop that and actually talk to me?" katie snapped, standing to her feet with a frustrated huff. "okay. you want to do this? fine, lets do this." you also snapped, dropping the knife and spinning around to face the older girl.
"i thought that whatever we were doing was completely casual, a friends with benefits situation and i was fine with that." you started, crossing your arms over your chest. "but then you made it complicated." you accused, pointing at her as she made a face of both confusion and offence.
"i made it complicated? till yesterday i thought ya had a boyfriend you were using me to cheat on with!" katie defended making you now pull a face. "what on earth gave you that impression?" you asked, face scrunched up in both disgust and confusion at the mere thought.
"your boy mathew or whatever his name was!" katie rolled her eyes and you paused for a minute before letting out a loud sarcastic bark of laughter. "my best friend? jesus no he's not my boyfriend katie i'm a lesbian for god sakes!" you corrected now with a roll of your own eyes.
"and like you're one to talk about loyalty anyway. asking me to 'hang out' right after you're on a date with another girl and at my job of all places, you don't want to be used to cheat with? i don't like being a backup option when your first one isn't interested in rounding the bases with you." you spat, katie scoffing at the accusation.
"a date? when the hell did i go on a date? you're deluded!" she waved you off with a shake of her head, accent only getting thicker the more upset she became, still not understanding why everything had changed.
"don't you gaslight me! the blonde you took to dinner the other night, you two certainly seemed cosy." your nostrils flared angrily as you held your ground, not allowing what you'd seen to be dismissed. "the blonde what-" katie grimaced trying to think back, but then it clicked.
and she did quite possibly the worst thing she could have within that moment, grabbing her stomach and doubling over in laughter, which you assumed was at you.
"okay you know what? this conversation is over. get the hell out!" you ordered angrily, clearing the distance between the two of you in a few steps and shoving at her as the brunette barely stumbled backwards, still trying to catch her breath.
"you're quite gorgeous when you're jealous ya know." the irishwoman smirked cockily and your cheeks flushed red at the sudden shift in tone. "i repeat, get. out." you recovered quickly, pointing toward the front door as katies smirk only widened, advancing slowly toward you.
"katie-" you started to warn, backing up until you smacked into the counter, the brunette pressing her body against yours, hands flushed flat on the marble counter as she smiled smugly down at you. "say that again then, tell me to leave and i will."
you tried to tell her to get out, you really did, but as she lent down and brought her face closer to yours you were consumed by the alluringly comforting smell of her perfume, knees wobbly at her pearly white smile and the cheeky twinkle of her blue eyes.
but as your stomach fluttered and your heart leapt into your throat, you remembered that to her this was all just a game, it would never be anything more than this and for your own peace and protection, you couldn't give in.
"get out, please." you dropped your gaze right before her lips could touch softly to your own, gently pushing her off and quickly rounding the counter, trying to put as much distance between the two of you as you could.
"that wasn't a date ya know." you refused to turn around at her words, instead grabbing your knife again and resuming the chopping of your vegetables. "hey would you stop that, please." you hadn't heard her make your way over to you, her hand grabbing yours as you dropped the knife with a sigh.
"five minutes. just give me that to hear me out and then if you still want me to go i'm gone and ya won't hear from me again." she requested softly, you hesitated but after a quick glance at her pleading face you gave in with a sigh.
keeping a firm grip on your hand the irishwoman lead you over to the sofa, gently sitting you down before she took her own seat at the opposite end, purposefully giving you some space.
"that wasn't a date. that blonde lass you saw me with last week was one of my sisters, she came and stayed with me for a few days to see the game and catch up while she's on break from uni." katie started to explain as you felt your cheeks burn bright red in embarrassment, burying your face in your hands with a gentle groan.
"stop that, listen." katie lent forward, tugging your hands away and nudging you to sit up before she settled back and continued. "and the whole reason that i brought her to your work was so she could see ya, cause i might have talked her ear off about you." katies own cheeks now flushed a rosy pink as you frowned slightly.
"because if you'd have spoke with me that night, i was going to ask you on a date." katie revealed nervously, fidgeting a little in her spot. "you were?" was all you could manage to get out, positively overwhelmed at the thought.
"well actually i was going to ask for some clarification around the boyfriend thing, but then if we worked that out yeah i wanted to ask ya on a date." katie smiled awkwardly, rubbing her hands nervously on her thighs.
"but i don't-i thought you wanted things to be casual." you stammered out. "i thought you wanted things to be casual, i'd have asked you out after we first slept together until you brought up it being a one time thing." katie admitted as your eyes widened further.
"which is why i made sure i always left right after, didn't get to know ya, kept it casual. cause i guess you're alright in bed!" the girl teased cheekily, softening the somewhat awkward tension a little which you were grateful for.
"but then i couldn't help myself. i really wanted to get to know you more so i started hanging around a little, asking some stuff, testing the waters. then when you didn't immediately kick me out i thought maybe you might be into us being not so casual." katie admitted, the shy and nervous side of her she was revealing now not anything you'd ever seen from the brunette before.
"then mathew came into the picture and it threw me off!" katie rolled her eyes, a small smile curling into your lips as the puzzle pieces started to align in your head.
"so i guess that kind of brings us to now, and was really all i wanted to say." katie looked to you somewhat hopefully, awaiting to see what you would say next in return.
"i only said we should keep things casual after we slept together because i thought that's what you wanted, and i was fine with it too for awhile. but then you started to hang around and ask questions and seem interested, and then you slept over!" you paused for a moment to collect your thoughts as katie watched on, intently listening.
"well you made it complicated like i said and then i started to indulge myself into the delusions of what things would be like if we were something more. but i never thought you felt the same way and then you asked me to come to your game but you were being weird and quiet the whole time. then you came in with what i assumed was a date that really hit home for me that all we would ever be was casual." you revealed with a small wince at the obvious misunderstandings from the both of you.
"and i don't want that. my friends are all off having kids or getting engaged and i want something more than just casual sex, i want to mean something to someone which is why i brushed you off and sort of ghosted you i guess." you laid your own feelings down on the line somewhat hesitantly, scared for what it meant but unable to continue holding them back anymore.
"so you're telling me, that we could have been something more for the last few months if we just...talked about it." katie cracked a small smile which you returned with a slow nod, the two of you sharing a look before breaking out into a bout of soft laughter.
"jesus christ what a mess." katie sunk into the sofa with another laugh, dragging her hands down her face in disbelief. "do you want to stay for dinner?" you asked with a soft smile, head flopping against the back of the couch as you stared at the irishwoman a few feet away who perked up at the offer.
"i'd love to."
~
"no you chose last night! give it to me katie, now." you ordered with a huff, struggling to stay balanced as you straddled your girlfriends leg, craning for the remote which the taller girl held just out of your reach.
"i don't want to watch that reality crap you'll put on, can't we at least watch a movie?" katie held firm, pushing you away with her spare hand as you continued to fight her for the remote.
"no! you said that last night and then you fell asleep about ten minutes in." you rolled your eyes at the memory, squealing as a pair of strong arms wrapped around your waist, quickly pushing you down onto the lounge as she now sat on top of you.
"well here i am wide awake baby girl, so how about we ditch the tv all together and go to bed?" the footballer smiled suggestively, still holding the remote out of your reach. "sure." you smirked, grabbing her collar and pulling her down into a kiss.
"after we watch love island." you snatched the remote from her, taking advantage of her moment of weakness as you pushed her off of you, hastily sitting up and getting comfortable again as you navigated through to find the latest episode.
"are you serious? you would rather watch that crap than have sex with me right now?" katies chest heaved a little at the sudden passionate kiss which was rudely stolen from her, propping her body up on her elbows.
"i can get you in my bed any night of the week you're quite easy, love island is only on wednesdays." you grinned cheekily, clicking into the episode and patting the space beside you. "easy she says!" katie scoffed in disbelief, sitting upright but staying on the other side of the sofa, arms crossed with a frown embedded into her eyebrows.
with a roll of your eyes at her dramatics you shuffled down the lounge, forcefully uncrossing her arms and maneuvering your body to settle half on top of her, back wedged against the arm of the sofa while your legs draped across her lap, shaking out a blanket and settling it over the two of you.
"relax the face baby, at your age you'll get wrinkles." you teasingly rubbed your thumbs against her forehead as she scoffed. "my age! i'm only two years older than ya!" the bruntte shook her head, offence written all over her face as you grinned at how easy she was to wind up.
"you know i've always been into older women." you wiggled your eyebrows as the girls large hand came to cover your face, shoving your head away playfully. "shut up and watch your shit show."
though of course after ten minutes katie was fully invested, asking you all sorts of questions as you'd settled into her arms, her hands sliding under your top and resting on your stomach.
both of you content in the little bubble of domestic bliss you'd created, wrapped around one anothers fingers tightly and very much so smitten, not a single casual thing about any of it.

NO ONE IS PERMITTED TO STEAL, COPY, OR REBLOG MY WORK AS THEIR OWN
Your body aches as you wait for the quinjet door to open. Excited to be home after being gone for 3 months. Also being excited to see both of your girlfriends smiling faces. You weren’t able to talk to them because this mission was covert. It was just you and Clint for 6 months, but it was finally over.
The door opens and as you look around. You're disappointed when you see no one waiting. You expected your girlfriends to be waiting for you when you got back. You haven’t been able to talk to them because the mission was covert. Only weekly check-ins with Fury were done which would be relayed to the team. This was to keep you and Clint safe. So it was sad when you returned and the two people you wanted to see the most weren’t there waiting for you.
As your demeanor deflates, Clint places a hand on your shoulder. “Maybe they had a mission or maybe Fury didn’t tell them we would be home today. Don’t worry Y/n/n.” Clint smiled reassuring you. You don’t know how he knows what you are thinking because he has always been able to read you like an open book. “Yeah, yeah you're right I’m just overthinking it.” You give him a weak smile. Something deep down is still nagging you.
You both make your way into the compound. If your girlfriends aren’t around then you want to be able to go take a nice long hot shower and take a nap. You are exhausted and just need some small comforts. But as you make your way through the common area you are shocked and hurt to see your girlfriends sitting on the couch and the rest of the team surrounding them in chairs.
Your brother Bucky is sitting across from them. When he notices you he jumps up and comes over and about squeezes you to death. “Hey sis!” Bucky exclaims. “Hey Buck.” You pat at his back hoping he will let you down, which thankfully he does. So that is when you turn your attention to the redhead and brunette sitting in front of you.
“Hi Nat. Hi Wands. I’ve missed you both.” You give them a gentle smile. Up until this point they really hadn’t given you a second thought. You were feeling hurt but hopefully it is just a big misunderstanding. ‘Hey Y/n.” Natasha greets you. But the fact that she used your name and not a pet name stung a bit. Wanda only gave you a gentle smile but you didn’t feel that it was genuine.
“I-I’m going to go take a shower and take a nap if either of you would like to join me.” You say hoping that maybe the way they are treating you is just all in your head and they just are shocked to see you back. “We were just about to start a movie. So you go ahead and do that. You look pretty rough and in need of that.” Wanda finally says to you. “O-oh ok. Enjoy your movie.” You respond hurt hoping that no one notices the wavering of your voice.
You ignore the looks you are getting from the team. They all give you a look of pity and you hate it. So you quickly make your way out of the room. You miss the look of anger on your brother's face towards the two women. He can see your hurt as you make your exit. You don’t want to stick around where you are clearly not wanted.
Once you make your way into your shared bedroom and straight into the bathroom. You strip your grimy suit off and toss it into the hamper before turning on the water and stepping into the nice hot shower. You let the water rush over you, rinsing all the tension and hurt away. A few tears slipping down your face and into the drain.
After standing there for a few minutes you finally look around for your soap, shampoo, and conditioner but they are all missing. Maybe you ran out before you left and forgot to replace them. It has been 6 months and that sounds like something you would do. So you use Wanda’s shampoo and conditioner and Natasha’s body wash.
Once you feel adequately clean you step out of the shower drying off and walking into the bedroom. You see your favorite hoodie of Natasha’s and slip it on. Before climbing into bed and curling up. You see your bear that Wanda had gotten you one time when you were sick strewn almost off the bed. You grab it and wrap your arms around it. Within minutes you are passed out in the bed. Your heart is heavy and your mind confused.
When you groggily wake up you look at the time and it is already 9pm. You slept most of the day. Your stomach roars with hunger so you listen as you crawl out of bed. You grab a pair of sweatpants and throw those on before heading out towards the kitchen. In your sleepy state you hadn’t even noticed that you were carrying around the teddy bear in your arms. You chuckle to yourself before setting it down on the counter going to make yourself some food.
You whip up something to eat before sitting down at the counter. You slowly eat your food. The compound is quiet as you eat alone. Once you have finished eating you clean up your dishes and put them all away before making your way back towards your room to get more sleep.
As you get to the door you are shocked when you find it locked and you can’t get in. You try and knock but get no response, but that is when you hear it. Your enhanced hearing picks up on Wanda’s moans and Natasha’s grunts. They get louder with each passing second that you stand there shocked. You feel your heart shatter in your chest. You weren’t just overthinking that they were giving you the cold shoulder. They were just waiting for you to leave them alone to lock you out. To seemingly break up with you.
Tears start streaming down your face, a small sob escaping your lips. A door clicks open, you turn and see your brother looking at you. But all you can do is run. He tries to call after you but you run to your old room. The one that you had before you moved in with Natasha and Wanda. You slam the door shut and lock it before letting your back hit the door. You slowly sink to the floor sobbing and clutching the bear in your arms.
That is when you notice the room. It is filled with most of your things. You had been so exhausted when you got back that you hadn’t realized that your things were missing from your shared bedroom. Your sobs become uncontrollable as you curl up in a ball in front of the door. You can hear your brother banging on the door to let him in but you don’t move. You can’t move. You're frozen in place like all those years with Hydra. You were nothing again.
And that is where you stay locked in your room for most of the day sleeping the day away. Only coming out at night when everyone is asleep. Bucky occasionally stays up just so he can see how you are. You don’t say much but you let him be around and he is grateful for that. Sometimes you catch Steve in the early morning when he gets up for his run and you're heading to bed. He always gives you a sad smile. You can’t stand the look of pity in his eyes and you don’t want to see it from the rest of the team either.
What you don’t notice is that Natasha and Wanda have also been watching you in the morning. They realize that they took it too far but they don’t know how to fix it. They still love you deeply and hate themselves for how they treated you.
But Bucky sees them. You’re already in your room as he walks by the two women. He only scowls at them. He would love to do more but as much as wants to he knows that you would not forgive him. No matter what they did to you, you still care about them.
You're startled awake when you hear FRIDAY speaking. “Miss.Barnes you are requested for a mission immediately.” “Do I have to go?” You mumble taking your pillow and covering your head. “Yes Miss.Barnes Fury has assigned you to a rescue mission. The quinjet leaves in 15 minutes.” FRIDAY informs you. “FRIDAY who else is on the mission?” You question scared that you may have to see the two women. “Mr.Barnes and Mr.Rogers will be accompanying you.” You let out a sigh of relief hearing that it will be your brother and Steve who you see as another brother.
You get up and quickly take a shower. It has been a few days, you haven’t had the energy to bring yourself to do it. Once you are done you slip on your suit. Not completely surprised that it doesn’t exactly fit. You have lost weight due to rarely eating. Only eating enough to survive. So it hangs loose on you but you don’t have time to care.
You make your way out to the quinjet and join the two men standing there. You have been wearing baggy clothes so the two can see just how terrible you look. But they don’t dare say anything. They love you but they know never to push you into something you don’t want to talk about or do.
You settle into the seat as the quinjet takes off. “So does anyone want to fill me in on what is going on?” You question. “Hydra has taken a group of scientists and doctors hostage. We need to rescue them before they are forced to do something for hydra. This is a time sensitive and top priority mission.” Steve tells you before you guys go over the game plan of your roles during the mission.
Once you land you all have to split up. It is unknown where they are being held and the place is so large that in order to do it quickly and efficiently you have to split up. You pull your gun and head off to the right side of the building. Taking out Hydra agents left and right. Keeping up communication with your brother and Steve as you clear each section you were tasked to search.
As you make your way down the hall you appear into a room. You see about fifteen Hydra agents and also the hostages. You press on your com. “I found the hostages but also about fifteen Hydra agents.” You whisper. “Y/n wait for backup we will be there in a few minutes.” Steve informs you. “I’m going in.” You ignore Steve’s orders. “Y/n/n you need to wait for backup.” Bucky tried to keep you from doing something stupid. “I can take them.” You tell them. Both of them keep trying to convince you to wait for them. It started to frustrate you so you pulled out your coms and stepped on it.
You rush in and you’re able to take down ten of the Hydra agents, but then they are able to start overwhelming you. The remaining five were able to overtake you. One was able to get you down on your knees. One agent kneed you in the jaw almost causing you to bite off your tongue. You have blood in your mouth before you're completely knocked down. They don’t stop the beating there. They start kicking you. Several kicks to the head have you disoriented and barely conscious.
One rolls you on your back as you spit some blood out. You can barely see but you can make out the silhouette of a gun. Just before he is about to discharge his weapon you can hear the distinct whooshing sound of Steve’s shield. It barely misses the man as he gets a shot off but it is enough for him to miss his main target, your head. The bullet hits your shoulder making you cry out. Before Steve can get another throw off the man is able to get off three more shots. Two hitting you in the lower stomach and one in your upper stomach lower chest area.
All you can do is whimper in pain as you’re sure that the last one hit your lung. You can hear Steve taking out the remaining agents. As he does the door slams open and you hear Bucky yell out for you and that is the last thing that you remember. He sees you in a puddle of blood barely moving as he falls down next to you. He puts his hands over your wounds trying to stop the bleeding. One of the hostages comes over to you. “I’m a doctor, I can help.” So he and Bucky get to work on stabilizing you and being able to move you.
They are able to get you out of there with the hostages. Once everyone is on the quinjet and it has taken off the doctor does everything he can to keep you alive long enough to get you to the compound so that you get the help that is needed. On the journey back you flatlined three times but the doctor was able to get you back each time. Luckily they keep blood for each avengers blood type on the quinjets in case of emergencies.
Once the quinjet lands the doors are quickly opened and the team of doctors waiting move in and take you straight into surgery in hopes of saving your life. Bucky and Steve make their way into the waiting room where the other avengers are waiting. Everyone has a somber look on their face. The team was notified that someone was injured badly but they weren’t informed who. As they see the two men they know that it was you who was hurt.
Seconds later the door to the waiting room slams open. Wanda and Natasha come running through the door. They look around and spot Bucky and Steve and their hearts drop. They know it was you. You were the one who was hurt and could possibly not make it though. The team was told it was bad and that whoever was hurt may not make it through.
“W-what happened?” Wanda stuttered out tears in her eyes. Bucky quickly moves towards them and points at them. “This is your fault. Both of you. Get the fuck out of here before I make you.” Bucky yells at them. Natasha steps in front of Wanda and gets closer to Bucky. “We aren’t leaving.” She stands her ground. “If it wasn’t for you two she would be fine. You broke her. You broke my sister. You don’t deserve to be here.” Tears prick at Bucky’s eyes. After everything that you and him had been through you don’t deserve this. “She didn’t care about her safety. She ran in there without backup because she didn’t care to live anymore. She became reckless, no care if she lived or died. If my sister dies it will be all your fault and I could never forgive you. Now get the hell out of here before I make you!” Bucky continues to yell at the women. Natasha stands stoic but Wanda pulls her to leave. Not wanting to upset the room.
They exit the room together. Natasha is doing everything she can to keep herself together and not break down. The door swings open and Clint steps out after the two. Natasha turns to him and she sees the disappointed look in his eyes. “I-” Clink cuts her off, raising his hand. “Natasha you are my best friend but Bucky is right about some things. What you two did to her was wrong. If you wanted to end things you should have done it the right way but you two were cowards. You truly broke her and even I’m not sure I forgive you for that right now. I still love you but you need to get your shit together.” Clint says giving Natasha and Wanda a reality check on just how much they fucked up. “I still love her.” Natasha whispered tears shining in her eyes. “Well if you do then you need to work on that. God forbid she doesn’t die in there and she actually agrees to even see you let alone forgive you you have a lot of work to do. She didn’t deserve any of that and you don’t deserve her. She was too good for you. If she does by miracle make it through you fix it. Both of you.” Clint finishes before turning to head back into the waiting room. “She was too good for either of us, we didn't deserve her.” Wanda says as she cries holding back a sob. Clint stops with his hand on the door. “I hope you both have the chance to fix this.” Was the last thing he said before entering the room again.
Bucky never let Wanda and Natasha be around you. You have been in the hospital for a month now but you still haven’t woken up. Everyone was happy you were alive but still scared. They don’t know if there is going to be any long term effects if you wake up. The two women sneak in to see you late at night when the rest of the team is asleep. Sometimes Bucky is sleeping in your room so they stay outside. It breaks their hearts to see you like this. All the tubes sticking out of you and your unmoving form in the bed. They can really see how fragile you look laying in the bed. It is obvious to them that you had lost weight and not just from being in the hospital but because of them. They vow that they will spend the rest of their lives trying to make it better and to get you back.
Another month passes with no changes. The women have been able to spend the nights with you since Bucky was sent on a mission. He fought to stay but Fury gave him no choice. Tonight is like every other night. Both women are sitting and reading listening to the steady rhythm of your heart beat. It is comforting to them to hear that your heart is still beating that you are still here with them.
But this night is different from the others. They are startled to hear a groan coming from the bed. Both of them drop their books, not caring as they tumble to the floor. “Detka?” Wanda questions. Your throat burns and you feel groggy. It is hard to open your eyes or even open your mouth. You hear the words but your brain is sluggish and takes a minute to register. Once your brain catches up to the words you try and respond. “N-no-not y-your d-det-detka” Your voice is hoarse and you stutter your words. “Y/n/n don’t speak.” Natasha tells you. Your eyes finally blinking open to look at the women who are staring at you with joy and concern etched into their faces.
Natasha gets up and quickly fills a cup with water and puts a straw in it. “Drink this.” You want to refuse her but your burning throat tells you to do what you are told. She holds the straw to your lips and you hesitantly take it and sip the water. The water hurts your sore throat at first but soon soothes it. You quickly start to suck it down not realizing how thirsty you were until you had the water. “Slow down detka you will make yourself sick.” Natasha tells you. You slow down to a stop knowing that she is right.
“S-stop ca-calling me that.” The stutter is getting better and you still croak out your words but you sound slightly better than before. The women look at you sadly but nod in understanding. “W-why are y-you here?” You ask the women. They look between each other and back to you. “We love you Y/n.” Wanda tells you. “And we just want to help and take care of you. Y/n/n you have been in a coma for 2 months.” Natasha adds. You're shocked to hear how long you had been out for but you scoff at the rest. That hurts your throat but you ignore it.
Your body has mostly healed in the two months that you have been out. The only question was if you would ever wake up and would you still be you. No one could know but they can see that you are still there. You may have a stutter but you're alive and talking and that is all that matters at the moment.
“W-wh-why?” There are tears in your eyes when you look at the women. Begging for the explanation that you never got the one you thought you never wanted. Natasha sighs and looks down, not able to look you in the eye. She tries to take your hand but you flinch away. “We were hurt when you were gone so long. That is no excuse for what we did. We still love you. We fell into our own routine. We never meant for it to go this far. To hurt you this much. You don’t have to forgive us, but we will do everything in our power to prove to you that we are sorry. What we did to you was wrong.” Natasha sniffles and finally looks at you with tears in her eyes. “I never deserved your love.”
As much as you were hurt by them, her words broke your heart. “You are too good for us.” Wanda adds tears streaming down her face. “Y-you di-did. I-I-I” The stuttering is frustrating you. “L-love you.” You finish. “B-but I-I do-don’t know i-if I c-can for-forgive you.” You cry as you say the words. You love them with all your heart but they hurt you. They threw your relationship away because they were hurt. Hurt over something you can’t control. Over the job that you all share.
Both women cry but nod. “We understand.” Wanda tells you. She reaches out for your hand and this time you let her hold it. Natasha follows suit. You three are crying even if it is hard, this was needed. As you calm down you speak again. “I-I ne-need time. Pl-please g-go.” The women understand. Each kissing your cheeks before letting go of your hands. Natasha hits the call button before they both make their exit before the team of doctors rush to your side.
The doctors rush in and are surprised to see you awake and concerned to see you crying. The women watched from outside the door hiding from plain sight. They don’t know if they will ever have you back but they will try with all their power to get you back. They just hope they can show you how sorry they are.

Corridors and Confessions | Oneshot
Pairing : Remus Lupin x Reader Summary : Were you avoiding Remus Lupin, yes. Did you want to? No. Will you gather to courage to solve all this? Maybee Warnings : Idiots in love
Tumblr media
Masterlist
You've been avoiding Remus Lupin. Did you want to, no, Merlin, no, but did you need to, not really that too, but you had to or you will surely combust.  He is one of the greatest people to walk on Earth, and you have one of the greatest crush crush on him, or maybe even more than that, considering how long you've had it.
The reason you were avoiding him was purely embarassing if you may, you were in the library, searching for a charms book, when you saw remus with the rest of the group, and you couldn't help yourself.
He stood there talking, maybe arguing, his sweater stretched as he rubbed the back of his head in frustration, you were practically gawking at the point, when he turned around, both of your eyes simultaneously widened as they locked.
The silent library fell even more quiet as everyone turned to look at you, you felt your cheeks warm up. Your head shot up as Remus called your name,  you gulped, "I, um, I".
Your brain had  practically stopped working, the room felt like a small box with the walls closing in, you couldn't look at Remus anymore, you sharply turned and practically ran out.
Since then you wanted to strangle yourself just releiving the memory, and thus you were avoiding him but it wasn't you only, Remus was sorta avoiding you too, which definitely meant he didn't want to face you either, God he probably knew and didn't want to confront.
You wanted the eartth to swallow you whole.
At the same time, you hated the rift that came between you,you didn't even have your caual talks. Even his friends stared at you weirdly, you knew you needed to atleast talk to Remus, you just needed to corner him when he was alone.
The opportunity presented itself, since both Remus and you were prefects, you were required to patrol the hallways. So, the next date it was due, you were fiddling with your robe when Remus silently joined you. The corridor felt stuffy, covered in a tension so thick, you can make whipped cream out of it.
You internally groaned, and glanced at Remus who looked at anywhere but you, god you must had made him feel really awkward, especially infront of his friends.
You had to do it, "Remus". His had snapped towards you, "Yes". You gulped, "I'm sorry for, uh that day, in the library"
Remus nodded, still avoiding  to look at you, "Yeah, I mean, I guessed you would have probably found out that I'm a werewolf"
You choked on your spit, "You are a werewolf" you whisper-yelled wide eyed. Now, Remus panicked, "Wait, you didn't know"
"No, no, I didn't" you were gaping you.
"Why did you run from the library then?" Remus's frenzied voice echoed.
"Because I was ogling at you and I thought you all caught me, it was embarassing"
Remus was full on panicking, "Oh my God, whhat have I done" he leaned against thte wall, Remus grabbed your hand, "Please, don't tell anyone"
"I won't" you solemnly nodded, ignoring the sommersaults in your stomach, as you held his hands, your head came to a sudden realization, "Is that why you were avoiding me?"
"The day at the library, you were standing near us and we were talking about it and, we thought that you had heard, and that's why run, cause-" he took a big gulp of air, you squeezed his hand "cause it's horrifying to know the person you wander the corridors with is a monster"

"No, you're not" you whispered, he shook his head.
You shook his shoulders violently, "You idiot, Merlin, Are you stupid, or am I" you trailed before looking him in the eyes, " No, how can you say that, you are like the best person I've met in hogwarts, you are so kind, you are so smart, you are like the best student and you're so stupidly pretty, in the sense, that I lose my brains whenever I look at you, you run through my mind and I lose all my train of thoughts and Merlin-" you were shushed as Remus's lips were pressed onto yours, which went as quickly as they came.
Remus gaped at you, "Sorry, I should have asked fir-" this time you were the one to shut him up, this time properly kissing him, Merlin it felt like a dreamwhen you two pulled away,
"You like me" Remus said, resting his forehead on yours.
"I think I made that pretty sure" you giggled, "I should ask you that"
"I do, I have since forever" Remus sighed, you were pretty sure you had died and come back.
Remus smiled, he leaned to kis-"OH FOR FUCK'S SAKE" you two jumped apart as you saw the rest of the marauders standing there.
"We were pretty sure somebody died and here you two are" James exclaimed.
You shook your head, "What are you all doing here?"
"You two were at one location for so long, we thought something must have gone wrong" Peter explained.
Sirius grinned, "But the scene here is-", Remus loudly interrupted him, "Okay that's enough, guys go back, I'll be pack after patrol"
They all turned around there way, "Tell us if you discover a new corridor though" Sirius winked.
Remus groaned in embaressment, his cheeks flushed red, while you giggled leaning to kiss him again.

-------------------------------
You’re stupid, oh yes you are.
You suspected so even before you broke into the palace.
Like last night, when at the Blushing Mermaid your thieving buddies dared you to break into this grand home and steal an item two of them have been hired to steal. By whom? That never matters in your line of work. But you were drunk and too proud of your own skill in thievery. You boasted that you could do it the next night and so they dared you. You took their dare but when you woke up this morning you realized how badly this could end.
Breaking into the palace of a suspected Vampire Lord is something you never attempted nor have many others. But here you are now, attempting the stupidest heist of your life and only now you’re realizing just how stupid indeed you have been the night before and even more so tonight, for coming here, for breaking in and making it this far. Shit, you don’t even remember what consequences of failing this dare are anymore, you were too arrogant in your drunken haze and you might actually get killed.
So now you’re here, in a small, windowless, positively secret room, adjacent to Lord’s bedroom, your focus on the pedestal in front of you.
“A pretty little thing, aren’t you?” a smooth, almost silky voice comes from behind you and yet it feels like an assault.
You freeze, your fingers extended over a small metal chest that you were picking a lock of just a moment ago. You knew the risks coming here, or at least you hoped you did. And now it looks like you got caught in the act.
As you straighten your back and turn around you are met with crimson eyes, a toothy smirk and relaxed body language of a man who you came here to steal from. Astarion, the newest Lord of Baldur’s Gate, latest patriarch of Szarr palace, a charming man that you heard rumors about of being an actual vampire. Undesirable creatures tend to know of one another’s existence. Him – possibly a dangerous monster and you – a thief and a dagger for hire. For a moment you wonder what will happen if this confrontation comes to fighting. You doubt you could win. Even without confirmation of his possible immortality Lord Astarion has a certain aura about him that you can’t quite put your finger on.
You eye him slowly, carefully, examining smallest details. His demeanor doesn’t seem threatening but you see those fangs in his mouth and you know what they can do, you know the power he must possess. Yes, it’s no rumor after all, he is a vampire. And if the same rumors are correct – a very powerful one. He doesn’t need a dagger in his hand to be extremely dangerous and you’re not enough of a fool to pick a fight with a Vampire Lord unless you have to.
“Can I assume you’re not here to give me a key?” you raise an eyebrow at him. You’re not going to be intimidated by him.
You have one more trick up your sleeve if things go murderously bad, a ring of teleportation that you rarely use because it tends to trigger magical defenses but since Astarion already caught you there’s no reason to avoid using it if you can’t talk your way out of the situation. And you will try to talk your way out of it because you have too much pride to scuttle away like a spooked rat.
Vampire’s eyes slide down your body smoothly like a viper, then back up again. Another glance to the metal box behind you and then back to your eyes. He tilts his face to an angle, giving you a curious look.
“I could. But I do wonder what are you doing here. And more so, I am dying to hear how you got inside without being noticed, how have you made it this far as to end up in my personal chambers.” his tone is still smooth like velvet and it gives you chills.
“Let’s say I’m good at what I do.” you smirk at him, despite your unease and tension in your body you are not going to show even a sliver of it to him.
“Indeed you are.” Astarion now steps closer and you move to the side when he approaches the box, placing his long, nimble fingers on it. You recognize a hand of a man who has picked many such locks himself in the past and you wonder about his history for a moment before he looks at you again, his eyes always on yours, almost never leaving.
“Do you know what’s in there, darling?” vampire asks and you cross your arms on your chest, shifting your weight on the other foot. Your goal is also to appear non-threatening but your muscles are tight as a spring.
“I was hoping it’s the Amulet of Weeping.” you say straightforwardly. You see no reason to lie because unless Astarion keeps something more in the box he knows perfectly well what you were trying to get.
Vampire chuckles lightly and taps his fingertips on the lid of the box.
“Indeed. Do you know what it does, you precious little thief?” the smirk on his lips and his eyes, forever locked on yours, it’s almost all you can see.
Yet his question makes you lose your cool. You look at the metal box and clear your throat, stalling for time but then look back at him.
“Well, actually I don’t. You see-“ a sudden finger on your lips, silencing you. If he’s a vampire, why his touch is so warm? And how in the Nine Hells he’s so fast? You didn’t even see him move, it was like a flash, it happened in a blink of an eye.
Oh yes, he’s even more dangerous than the tales you’ve heard.
“Shh. Don’t speak.” Astarion’s voice is soothing, alluring.
What is this… Why you feel so relaxed, so… warm? Your alertness starts to blunt, your caution begins to turn into curiosity and are you flushing? Your face feels hot and this change you feel somehow does not feel strange or unwelcome. It’s like being embraced, it’s like being caressed, you belong.
And all you can see is the crimson of his eyes.
“There we go. I’m sure you’re feeling better. Don’t resist, my dear, just relax, I’m not going to harm you. Maybe I will even reward you for being so brave.” Astarion croons with a voice like silk.
“Reward?” you ask, feeling like you’re in a dream. A voice in the back of your head tells you you’re being charmed but that voice is quickly snuffed out. It’s gone like a whisp of smoke from a candle that just got blown out. One moment it’s there and then not even a memory of it lingers.
“Yes, a reward, darling. Wouldn’t you like to be rewarded?” vampire’s fingers now grip your chin softly, lifting your face to his, his thumb traces your bottom lip.
“What… kind of reward?” even your own voice sounds distant now but you couldn’t care less. Those eyes… Those red eyes that bore into yours… They are everything.
“Ah, now what kind of reward we will have to see for ourselves.” Astarion smirks but his fangs don’t bother you anymore, if anything they look attractive, lighting a fire in your belly. “Let’s go, I’ll let you pick your reward, you little thief.”
With that he moves his fingers from your chin and wraps his arm around your shoulders, now leading you out of this small room. You follow without question or hesitation, but glance back at the box just once, trying to remember what was so special about it and why did you even come here. No, you don’t remember. And it doesn’t matter, not anymore.
When you look in front of you the door opens and a view of a lavish bedroom greets you. A big, luxurious bed with bedposts and parted drapes, all in black or red or gold. Simple glance around the room reveals several paintings, some bookshelves and cabinets, closets and a table, some comfortable looking armchairs. The carpet even under your boots feels soft, you almost want to lay down on it. But Astarion’s arm around your shoulders makes you walk further, towards the bed, and you barely register the door behind you closing.
Why are you here? Oh yes, the reward. When Astarion stops you just in front of the bed, his arm leaves you and he turns you to him by your shoulders. When your eyes land on his you smile. He’s so beautiful, so handsome, he’s the prettiest being you have ever seen. He sees your smile, your glazed over eyes and smiles in return.
“Not afraid of me, are you?” he asks and you slowly shake your head. “Very good. I must say, you are very very pretty, darling. What’s your name?”
Your name… Your name? What’s your name?
Your face scrunches in confusion, your eyes scan his chest and noses of your boots as if the answer is written somewhere in his noble’s attire or in the leather of your shoes. You look up at him again and Vampire Lord chuckles.
“Well, that matters not. You will remember soon enough.” Astarion uses both hands to tuck strands of your hair behind your ears and you smile at him again. His touch is soft, warm and wanted. “But, to get back to my point, you are beautiful.” he leans closer to your face, his smile and his eyes become your whole world. “And I like to collect beautiful things.”
“Things?” you echo and something once more tugs at your mind but then disappears again. You’re perfectly in his control. Under his gaze you can’t resist him.
Astarion does not bother to reply, his gaze sweeps down your body, analyzing every piece of clothing you’re wearing, then his nimble fingers begin unclasping your leather armor, taking it off piece by piece, dropping one item after another to the side of his feet. At first you don’t realize what’s going on, you just watch his face but when vampire slips the straps of your bra off your shoulders you finally blink in confusion.
When you look down at yourself you see yourself half naked, your nipples perk up at the contrast between the air of the room and the warmth of your clothing that just got removed. You rise your eyes to Astarion and see his smile once more. You don’t recognize the gentle malice in his expression but even if you did you wouldn’t care, not until the fog is lifted from your mind.
“Relax, I’m not going to hurt you.” Vampire Lord whispers and his face is so close you can smell wine on his breath and… something else. Something metallic, coppery, you can’t put your finger on it.
Your face scrunches at the thought, your eyes move to his lips and his smile, you see the fangs.
Ah yes, that’s right, he’s a vampire.
Wait, what are you doing here?
You gasp, your thoughts get interrupted by Astarion pinching both your nipples at the same time. Again you feel the fire in your abdomen, you recognize it as desire and you look into his eyes, the crimson of them drowning you like a lake of blood. And you give in.
“I want something from you.” Vampire Lord’s whisper replaces your thoughts and you just stand there with your face flushed and your body reacting with a shiver because he’s still teasing your nipples. “Something you can give me with ease.” a pause, a moment passes, then you feel his palm press against the small of your back and push you towards him, against his chest. Your hands grasp his waist and your lips part. “Just give in, darling. And I promise you a night you’ll never forget.”
You see his grin and it would look dangerous to you if you weren’t completely in his control. Instead of fear you feel overwhelming lust and you close your eyes, turning your face up and inviting him for a kiss.
And Astarion does kiss you. His lips clash against yours in a hurry and passion. His tongue pushes past your lips, past your teeth, it tastes you and you taste him back. Yes, you recognize what it was that you smelled before – blood. You taste it on his lips, you taste it on his tongue and you don’t care. Your heart beats fast in your chest, your fingers now move to his clothing, trying to find clasps, buttons and laces. You manage to open his doublet, slip it off his shoulders. You don’t hear it falling to the floor, because only thing you’re hearing is your own heartbeat beating fast in your ears.
But then the kiss stops. You don’t know how long it lasted, a minute, an hour, a year? Still, you feel like it wasn’t enough, you don’t want it to stop and you barely open your eyes before you immediately try to kiss him again, eliciting a chuckle out of the Vampire Lord.
“How eager.” he comments but you don’t care. Your arms find his neck and you try to pull his head lower, to your level, your lips seek his with urgency, but with ease Astarion pushes you away. “Patience, my pet. I’ll reward you soon enough.”
You exhale in dizzy frustration but lower your hands, obeying. It’s easy to listen to him, you realize. What a pleasant feeling, you could do this forever.
“Stand still, darling.” Astarion’s voice reaches your ears and you return to the present.
You now watch him undo laces of your pants and slide them down your hips and thighs, together with your underwear, exposing you fully. You don’t know what shame is and you don’t remember how embarrassment feels like. You only know one thing – you want this man, you want him to take you and it’s hard not to start begging.
Astarion guides you while he takes off your pants and shoes, helping you step out of last bits of your clothing and when he raises again he puts one arm around your hips, leading you to the bed. It looks so soft, inviting. You want to spend forever in it with him. So when you feel vampire pat you on the ass, urging you to climb in, you do so without hesitation.
When you turn around and lay on your back, you have a moment to watch Astarion shed his own clothing in full. He takes his time, his eyes roaming up and down your nude body, his eyes would tell you of possessiveness and even a hint of cruelness if you could think straight, but right now you only see that he wants you. After he pulls his pants down and his eager erection is revealed, you swallow hardly. You want it in you, you want to taste it, you want to please him. You want to serve.
“Do you like what you see?” Astarion taunts and you nod without any shame, your lips part and you lick them, your gaze focused on his cock, so ready to make you his, maybe forever.
Vampire Lord kicks off his shoes at last, then removes his pants completely and after he straightens his back, you watch his hand grasp his shaft and give it a few slow strokes. After the third or fourth you notice precum glistening at the top of his cock.
“Ah…” is only thing you manage to say, your desire coiling and moving in you like a hungry snake. Your reaction makes Astarion chuckle and the sound of it forces yours eyes back on his once more.
He gets closer and climbs into bed slowly with a grace of a predator, his body moves on top of yours and you part your legs widely for him, welcoming him. You lean your head back, relaxing in the bed and Astarion once more sweeps your body with his gaze, stopping at your breasts.
“Touch yourself.” he commands and you immediately do so. Your hands raise, cup your breasts, your fingertips graze your nipples and then pinch them, roll them, tug at them gently while you do as instructed. You see how intensively Astarion is watching you, his smirk widens when you let out a soft moan, then another. You were ready for him already, this is just making it worse.
Finally he looks down, between your legs, and with one hand pressed against the bed for support with other he traces the inner side of your thigh up and then higher. When he touches your entrance, feels how wet you are for him, he exhales slowly. His fingers explore every inch of your sex, making you gasp and moan louder, then his thumb brushes against your clit, sending a shiver through your body.
“You’re so ready for me, pet.” Astarion’s voice is husky, it’s obvious he’s getting worked up too as his eyes dart between his own fingers exploring you and you playing with your nipples.
That dreamy feeling you’ve been feeling up until now lessens, maybe it’s because Astarion is less concentrated, maybe your own desire is making your mind begin to break free but you now realize that you’ve got seduced into this man’s bed. Yet you’re too aroused, too impassioned to stop here. And your body still screams to be taken, to be conquered and to be claimed.
And he’s just so beautiful. No, you’re not free from his charm and allure, not even close, and your mind focuses on his silver locks falling gracefully around his face, you see his eyes, now filled with lust and desire, examining every inch of your body. You feel his fingers making you moan with a practiced touch and you want more. So much more.
“Take me.” you hear yourself say with a gasp and your hips buck against his fingers as if your own body is out of your control, not only your thoughts.
Astarion now looks into your eyes and smiles.
“I’m going to do so much more, my dearest pet. I’m going to claim you, I’m going to fill your tight holes and then I’ll have you beg for more.” his words send a shiver down your body that pools between your thighs, his fingers tease your cunt and he immediately notices that you got even wetter, it makes him smirk. “I’ll make you mine, I’ll claim you, and I will keep filling you with my seed every night. And who knows, maybe you’ll give me an heir eventually.”
Silence falls while your face gets redder with his every word.
An heir? He wants you to do what? Yet his eyes are still your entire world and your body moves, your hips moving again, your cunt pressing against his fingers in need.
Yes, you will give him an heir. As long as you can be his.
Your hands leave your breasts and you put your palms on the back of his head, your fingers threading in his hair.
“Yes, I will.” you whisper and that reply rewards you with a passionate kiss.
Astarion’s fingers now leave your drenched seam and roughly pull your knee up, making you hook your leg around his waist. His chest presses against yours and you sigh against his lips.
And then he enters you. One swift thrust and he’s fully inside, stretching you almost to a point of uncomfortable fullness and you moan at that, your mouth remains open with the gasp but his lips are also parted, he’s enjoying the feeling of you around his cock. Your heavy-lidded eyes meet his and your fingers clench in his hair.
“Take me. Make me yours.” you whisper and a guttural growl escapes Astarion’s throat at your words. He doesn’t wait, he begins thrusting.
You close your eyes and moan, feeling his cock pierce you again and again. You’re so aroused his shaft is moving with satisfying ease, his hips snapping against you with increasing pace.
“Fuck, you’re going to look so beautiful with my cum dripping out of you.” Astarion grunts and lowers his head to your neck, kissing it first, then nibbling the skin with his teeth. His hand grips your thigh strongly, keeping it up.
Only response you can give him is your moans, loud and unashamed. You hold onto his neck and hair while he rocks himself against you, filling you deeply with his cock, his thrusts unrelenting. It feels like he’s been going at it for hours and every second is better than the last.
Your mind swims from sensations. His sweaty skin against yours, his shaft buried deep inside your cunt, his teeth on your neck, his fangs-
“Ouch!” you exclaim when he bites down, sinking his canines into your flesh, but when you react you hear a rumble of a laugh coming from him. Astarion lifts his head at you, his lips are painted in redness of your blood.
“Get used to it, my pet. You’re mine now.”
Vampire Lord bites you again and this time you just sigh. Somehow his first bite was painful, second one sends a shiver down your spine. Your fingers leave his hair, you place your palms on his back, feeling something there like scars, but you don’t know, you’re far away, consumed by your passion. It’s just his lithe body claiming yours, making you writhe and arch your back, making you moan.
Then Astarion slows, he moves his hips now lower, his pelvis brushes against yours, then an angle changes and he begins rubbing himself against your swollen clit, sending jolts down your spine. You open your eyes, more in surprise than anything and see Astarion’s smug smile.
“Enjoying yourself, darling?” he lifts his head with a smug smile, confident because he knows he’s good at this and he’s correct. You whimper and nod eagerly, your face still flushed. “Good.”
Astarion’s thrusts ease into a steady pace. How his skin is rubbing against you is beginning to drive you crazy. You look at him, not able to control your moans that are growing louder by the second. What is he doing to you? You never felt pleasure like this before. You can’t stop, you don’t want to stop.
“Come for me.” you hear a whisper in your ear and then he looks at your face again, enjoying the view.
Everything up until this point felt like a dream, but not this.
You feel your orgasm with every inch of your body. You cry out and dig your nails into Astarion’s back, your body tenses and your cunt clenches around him, your sweaty form spasms and you feel yourself clinging to him.
“Good girl, very good girl.”
You are barely able to comprehend Astarion’s words, because the world melts around you, this moment is intense, most intense thing you experienced in your life. But Vampire Lord doesn’t stop thrusting. When your bliss begins to fade, when you come down from your high, you look at him again and Astarion leans away from you. He straightens his back as much as he can, his palms pressed on the bed by your sides and his now messy hair drapes over his eyes but you see him watching his cock plunge into you with increasing fervor.
“Watch me fill you, my pet.” vampire’s grunt is laced with strain as he keeps fucking you while you’re trying to recover from your orgasm. You’re out of breath but this is not over, not until he says it is.
And you listen, you look down, seeing your bodies connect with every pump of his hips and you grasp at the sheets. Something about this, the anticipation, the knowledge of what he’s about to do and the desire to be used by him, it’s making the edges of your world blurry.
Astarion is grunting now, his lips parted and he’s breathing heavily. Even his face is flushed, but then he moans loudly just before he clenches his teeth. His thrusts become erratic, his eyes locked on the motion of him thrusting into you, his groans are barely passing his teeth. You know he’s spending himself entirely inside of you and it’s a delicious thought. And then after few more pumps he stops, panting when his face relaxes. You keep your eyes where your bodies are still connected, your thighs are quivering, and Astarion glances up at you with a smirk.
He says nothing as he moves one hand and grips the base of his cock, slowly pulling out of you now. You mewl gently at that, the feeling of him leaving your body is an unwelcome one. But Astarion is not done yet. He kneels between your thighs and pats your inner thigh with his cock that is now losing its hardness. With a satisfied grin he lets go of it and presses a thumb to your fold, teasing it, watching his cum seep out of you. You blush heavily at that even though you can’t see what he’s seeing.
“Beautiful.” Vampire Lord comments more to himself than to you and remains still for a long moment, just appreciating the view. Then his eyes raise to your face. “Rest for a bit. When I said I’m going to fill your holes, I meant all of them.”
You nod eagerly despite your face burning.
You cannot wait.

Simon Riley would say that being legally dead is the best thing to have happened to him and that's because it allowed him to escape a bunch of responsibilities that regular men have to uphold.
He gets paid covertly, in full, and does not have to pay taxes on his income.
He rented a flat from a sweet ol' lady, who didn't run a background check or ask for a copy of his birth certificate (terrible choice on her part), and he pays her by dropping an envelope of cash in her mailbox on the 1st of every of the month.
He not only is old enough to drink but also sounds and looks old enough as well, which means he doesn't need I.D. to buy alcohol (not that any shops or bars really care enough to check).
He doesn't have a credit card. Or a debit card for that matter. Hell, he doesn't even have a bank account, so he doesn't have to pay maintenance fees.
He doesn't have a smartphone. And up until recently he only had a pager. In fact, the only reason he doesn't have a pager anymore is because it got shot in the crossfire during a mission... so Price forced him to get a jitterbug.
In short... Simon Riley can escape a lot of things (death, taxes, Philip Graves...). But telemarketers and phone scammers are not one of those things.
That's how, on a boring Wednesday afternoon, his new phone ends up ringing, like it had been doing multiple times a week for the last four weeks.
Telemarketers.
He never got telemarketers on his pager.
He hated telemarketers.
But that didn't mean he blocked them-
"What?" He answered as soon as he picked up the phone.
An automated voice came over the call, one of those typical Siri-esque robot voices, delivering a prepared speech: "Congratulations! You've won a free cruise to the Bahamas! To claim your prize, press 1."
Oh, now, this was different. He didn't need to hear more to know it was a scam call. But that didn't mean he was going to hang up.
So Simon pressed key 1, which caused a beep to sound over the call.
"Thank you!" The automated voice continued. "We are now connecting you to a live operator to claim your prize!"
Barely a millisecond went by before you took over the call. "Good afternoon, this is Stella Gormoni with Blissful Blessings Inc.! Who am I speaking with?"
As stereotypical as it is, Simon had expected a different voice on the other end of the line... maybe from a scammer in a foreign country who'd speak heavily-accented English...
But instead, he got a sweet and professional sounding person... It almost made him second-guess the scam that was being pulled on him.
His mind moved quick at coming up with a fake name. Not just a fake one, but a pun one too. "Wanh'a, first name Aiden." He replied, his gruff voice reverberating on the call.
"And how do you spell that?" You asked him politely, and, through your headset, he could hear your keyboard keys clacking in the background.
"That's A-I-D-E-N." He replied as he entered his kitchen, spelling his first, as if that was somehow what was causing you difficulty.
"Uh-huh!" You acknowledged in a peppy tone. "And... your surname?" You asked him.
"W-A-N-H-'-A." He continued spelling as he crossed the small kitchen, hearing your fingers tapping away at your keyboard in his ear.
For a moment, you didn't talk, as if stunned into silence. Had you just picked up on the fact he was trolling you by giving you a name that, phonetically, sounded like 'I Don't Wanna'? Probably. But you hadn't hung up yet.
"Well, congratulations, Mr. Wanh'a, you just won an all-inclusive, two-week long cruise to the Bahamas!" Your peppy tone made him bite his lip to contain a laugh. Well, at least you were dedicated in continuing the scam. "How are you feeling?"
"Very well, and yourself?" Simon asked casually as he leaned himself against the door of his refrigerator, leaning down to look inside and find a snack.
"I'm doing very well, thank you, sir." You replied in a cheerful tone. "So, let's process the information so we can get you your prize, shall we?" You announced in a polite tone.
"Go right on ahead, sweet'eart." He murmured as he grabbed a yogurt and closed the fridge with his hip, sitting at the table and peeling open the lid.
"Well, for us to start, I'm going to need your-"
"Actually, I have a question, before we start." Simon interrupted your speech, cutting off your silver-tongued lies.
You went silent for just a moment before you replied with a sweet little: "Of course, what can I help you with, Mr. Wanh'a?"
"I want to know how exactly I signed up to receive this prize." Simon replied before he placed a spoonful of yogurt in his mouth.
He was trying to accomplish two things by doing this: 1) throw you off your game and make you stammer and stutter, and 2) see how long it took for you to get annoyed, and hang up on him.
"Well, that's what I was going to explain, you see-" You replied, a smile behind your voice, but his trained ears could pick up the slight frustration. It made Simon smile.
"Oh, then, I'm sorry for interrupting you, sweet'art, please go ahead." He replied and gestured with his spoon, as if giving you the stage, unnecessarily so, because you were not there to watch it.
"As I was saying... You were entered automatically into the draw by buying a cereal box of any Kellog's cereal at Tesco. I'm sure you saw a 'Win a free cruise!' sticker on yours?" You asked in a professional and sickly-sweet tone.
He could see right through your scam, he had already done that. You name a famous brand, one people trust, to trick naive or impressionable ones into believing you...
Normal people would tell you they no longer have the cereal box, many of them naive enough to believe your scam despite the fact they hadn't even bought one of those boxes in the first place...
Next, you'd ask for the card used to make the purchase, and some people were dumb enough to read their number aloud to you...
Oh, how he hated scammers. Even more than telemarketers.
"I do remember seeing something like that..." He murmured, his voice deepening, before he popped another spoonful of yogurt past his lips, loudly smacking them right against the receiver of his jitterbug.
"Well, all I need is for you to get the box and read me the code that's imprinted on the inside of the flap!" You announced.
"Well, you see, I would, sweet'art... But my sight isn't so good anymore..." Simon replied. "I'm getting up there in age, you know?" He continued eating his yogurt.
"I understand, sir." You replied. "I'm sorry to hear that. One of my cousins also started losing his vision pretty early." You announced.
Huh.
There was no hint of forced sympathy in your voice.
No, you were being genuine. That was a real story of your life you were telling him...
But you had picked up on the fact he was trolling you, right? So why were you-
"Good thing though, about this system of ours, is that you can just confirm your credit card details so we can double check them and get you that prize!" You had, your tone right back to the scamming silver-tongue you had held until now.
Secretly, Simon had to admit that he admired your commitment to the bit. He couldn't help but smile a bit, amused.
"Oh, of course. Let me just set you down while I get my card." Simon replied and got up, finishing his yogurt and tossing out the plastic container, popping the spoon into the sink, and, after setting down his phone, he walked out of the room.
Simon glanced down at his wrist watch, noting the time on it, then, approached his bedroom door, grabbing his over-the-door pull-up bars, and began doing a quick set, leaving you to 'wait' for him in the kitchen.
After a few sets, he waltzed back into the kitchen and grabbed his phone again. "You still there, da'lin'?" He beckoned in a gruff tone.
You sighed, your politeness sounding slightly more forced. He had kept you waiting for over ten minutes after all. "Yes, sir, I am. Did you get your card, Mr. Wanh'a?"
"Oh, please, enough of this 'sir' thing, Mr. Wanh'a was my mother." He replied, then went silent for just a beat, almost like he could hear your frustration sizzling on he other end.
He was being more and more obvious with his trolling... And it pleased him immensely to imagine a parasite like you seething on the other end of the line, reaching your wits' end.
"You can just call me 'Ai', it's what my friends call me." Simon continued, a smirk forming on his lips. "And we're friends now, right? You're giving me a cruise and everythin'." He added, his tone just as charismatic and peppy as his had been.
"I guess we are!" You replied, returning the overly cheery tone. "So, 'Ai Wanh'a', then?" You asked, but he could hear the mix of frustration and amusement behind your voice.
"Yeah? What d'you want, babygirl?" Simon asked, unable to resist making a more impish remark. And, unfortunately, it had the desired result. It genuinely caused your brain to blue-screen for a moment.
Sure, you'd experienced plenty of people getting angry at you when you attempt to scam them, or even trolling you the same way this bloke was doing but...
It was definitely a first, to have someone flirt with you, even if it was still part of his trolling attempt.
"Your... credit card details?" You ended up adding, your voice still showing the surprise and light meekness that came from him catching you off-guard.
"Oh, of course. Are you ready? It's a very complex number." He replied.
"Ready when you are." You added as you steeled yourself for another smartass response or run around from him.
"Here it is: 1234-5678-9987-6543." He replied, reciting the numbers 1-9 in order and then backward. "And the three digits on the back are: 210."
Oh, he was so fucking annoying! He didn't get to troll you, even if it was pretty amusing of him to do so, then flirt with you, then go back to trolling.
"Sir, if you're not interested in the cruise, just say so. There's no need for this mockery." You replied, your tone serious and professional though you were definitely seething on the inside.
Simon could tell. And he reveled in it. "Oh, but I am interested!" He replied with a smirk behind his voice. "In fact, I want to know more. Will my cabin in the cruise have an ocean view?"
Simon heard you inhale aggressively on the other side of the line, steeling yourself not to hang up on him, or down right berating him on the phone. "Yes, Ai, of course!" He heard your fake cheeriness through your clenched teeth. "It'll be a luxury cabin, actually. Isn't that great?"
"No, it's not that great, actually. I get very seasick, you see?" Simon murmured. "Not to mention, ever since my pet goldfish died, I've just never been able to look at the ocean the same..." He added in a forced pitiful tone.
You went quiet again on the other side and Simon knew he had finally worn you out. He waited to hear the clicking sound of the call falling, but, instead, he just heard you let out a sigh.
"You're very frustrating." You murmured.
"Oh, my, is this how you speak to all your prize winners?" Simon gasped dramatically.
"Shut up... You didn't have to be a smartass, you know?!" You scolded him, as if you had any ground to stand on.
"No, I fear I did, sweet'art." Simon replied as he leaned casually against the kitchen counter. "You called me, interrupted my day, and wasted my time with a scam, of all things. I have every right to be a smartass and have some fun with it." He added, a smug tone obvious in the dulcets of his deep voice.
"Okay? You could've just hung up on me?" You were truly grasping at straws to justify your behaviour. It was comical.
Simon laughed dryly. "And waste an opportunity to annoy a parasitic leech like you?" He quipped.
That stunned you into silence for a moment and you couldn't help but pout a bit.
"Not to mention, what you're doing is illegal, you know that righ'? And I'm military, I could get you arrested for this." He added.
"For that, you'd need to know where I am." You retorted, maybe a bit bratilly. "Besides, I knew you were a soldier."
"And how did you know that?"
"You used the NATO phonetic alphabet while spelling 'your' name'." You replied directly. "Nobody spells 'Aiden' as 'Alpha-India-Delta-Echo-November'."
"So you knew I was military and you still went ahead with your little scam attempt? You're not that bright, are you?" He defied you, which earned him a scoff from your end.
"No, I already knew you were trolling me."
"Oh, so you just wanted to waste my time?"
"That's exactly it, Aiden."
"Sounds to me like you're just looking for trouble, da'lin'." He quipped, his voice having lowered to a gruffer tone.
Rolling your eyes, you scoffed. "Am not. I'm just enjoying myself. You're not the only one that can make jokes at people's expenses."
"No, you really are..." He tutted his tongue and shook his head. "Need I remind you you were trying to scam me, and other people?" He added in a tone that sent a shiver down your spine.
"I know what I was doing."
"Yeah? And are you proud of that? Proud of being a conniving little cunt who tries to take people's hard-earned money?" He taunted you.
You didn't reply. Of course you weren't proud. You still had a conscience! But you wouldn't tell him that. He wouldn't get the satisfaction of hearing you apologise.
"I see. You don't like what I'm saying, so you give me the silent treatment, is that it, sweet'art?" He teased. You could hear the smirk behind his words.
"I wonder if you'd still act like this if you had to face me and had to answer for yourself."
Closing your fists tight, you steel yourself again to gain some edge and reply to him. "I guess you're going to keep wondering then. Because it's not happening."
"You know, it's a shame your little computer spat out my phone number for you to call..." He trailed off.
"And why's that?"
"Because instead of anyone else, you got me... And that's just... really bad luck for you. Any other service member, you would've been fine..." He trailed off.
"What, are you some sort of General-Major-Chief thing, super high up the ladder?" You taunted.
Simon simply chuckled dryly on the other side of the line. "No. But I'm definitely the worst person you could've tried to play with."
"Oh, big scary man, what are you gonna do? Gonna come teach me a lesson?" You added, taunting him some more, clearly feeling comfortable behind your laptop, with your smartphone, sitting at home, comfortable and warm, with your pet at your feet. "Oh, I'm so scared!" You added, feigning fear in a dramatic tone.
"Is that a challenge I'm hearing, sweet'art? Inviting me to come pay you a visit?" Simon asked you, his brow cocking, despite the fact you couldn't see it.
You don't know what it was about the way he spoke. The way he said that. The way his voice sounded.
It sent a shiver down your spine, a cold sweat, like he was, for the first time, not joking around anymore.
"No...?" You murmured in reply, feeling your shoulders tensing in an unpleasant way.
"Yeah... That's an invite I'm hearing..." He disregarded what you said and chuckled. "Maybe I'll come pay you a visit then, hey? How does that sound, little leech?"

𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝟕𝟖𝟔 15. ugly truths
YOUR CHILDHOOD DREAM WAS TO MARRY PARK SUNGHOON.
Even before you developed a genuine crush on him, you fantasized about marrying Sunghoon at a young age. Your parents always fawned over the young boy's appearance, and they would constantly pester you about how they wanted a handsome son-in-law like Sunghoon. You would brush their comments off back then, but a small stir in your chest dared to daydream about how wonderful of a boyfriend your best friend would be.
When he asked you out, you thought you were in the clouds. It must have been one of the best things that happened to you because you were certain that Sunghoon would meet some drop-dead gorgeous model after he was signed under Prada. You hardly entertained any talks of dating him before because you were so scared that something would burst the swell of hope in your chest.
Now that you tasted the reality of being Sunghoon's girlfriend, it was awfully bitter.
You knew that there were several consequences going into this decision; not only were your parents going to be upset, but you were possibly ruining years of friendship with both Sunghoon and Heeseung with this decision. Although you cared about the two boys deeply, you were so tired of feeling drained by your own relationship.
Plus, Heeseung had been acting weird, too. You weren't convinced as of late that he had purely platonic intentions, but it made your stomach turn every time you pondered on it for longer than a few seconds.
You knew what you were getting into. Sunghoon was so entangled and twisted up in your life that you couldn't see any comfortable way out of this relationship. You would no longer be able to listen to a Bruno Mars song without thinking about how he'd blast the music in his car and sing along with you; you would no longer be able to wake up in the morning and shake off the ceaseless anticipation of a good morning text from him; you would no longer be able to even reach for his hand under the table to give it a comforting squeeze.
After this, you wouldn't have to worry about checking menus to make sure your boyfriend liked the food at the restaurant you wanted to go to, or wait for him to show up to every date you planned, or sulk around after he shot down any couple activities you proposed.
You'd be free.
You wondered if this was going to be the last time you'd spend in Sunghoon's apartment. As your finger ran over the embroidery on one of his throw pillows, you noticed that your boyfriend was tapping his foot nervously.
He was the first to speak. "You're breaking up with me, aren't you?"
His words were like a jab to your gut, making tears pool at the corners of your eyes before you turned to blink them away. You dated him for three years just for everything to end like this. Yet, you weren't sure he could say anything to salvage your relationship; you were tired of trying to reach out to someone who wouldn't even hold out his arm.
"Yeah," you answered quietly. "I don't think I can do this anymore, Hoon. It's been so hard."
His foot started tapping faster. You felt the knot in your chest tighten.
"Okay," he mumbled. "Then... that's that, I guess."
"Seriously? That's all you can say?"
"I can't stop you from doing what you want."
"No, but you could ask," you replied, incredulity thick in your voice. "You seriously don't even wanna know why I'm trying to end things?"
"I know why you're breaking up with me," he said, raising his voice over yours. "I haven't been putting aside time for y—"
"It's not just that!"
Sunghoon immediately fell silent, and, for a few moments, the only sounds in his living room were your shallow breaths. As much as you wanted to stand up and start yelling at him, you couldn't bring yourself to be too harsh when you noticed his repetitive tapping and fidgeting.
"The night you came over after Yuna went crazy on live," you started. "I want you to be transparent with me. Was all of that just so you could tell me to stop hanging out with her?"
His lips pressed into a thin line before he answered, "Not completely."
"But you still came over because of that?"
"Yeah."
Of course, that was the answer you expected.
Still, you didn't know the full weight of the truth would shatter you into pieces all over again.
Sort of lost and disconnected, you nodded. "Okay."
Sunghoon let his head hang. You weren't sure how many minutes had passed, but he just stared straight down at the floor while his knee bounced over and over again.
Your boyfriend, whom you had trusted and given all your love to, had just admitted to using your body for his own personal gain.
And all you could say was okay.
"Sungjin found out about Yuna's video," he tried. "I left early that morning because he wanted me to defend you and Heeseung to the Order, or he'd tell Dad. I thought I was doing the right thing."
You could only stare back at him wordlessly.
"I'm sorry," Sunghoon mumbled, and it sounded distorted in your ears, like he had been a broken record droning on and you had just now realized it, but he didn't dare make eye contact with you. "I'm so sorry, Y/N."
He finally raised his head to look at you. The maddened, agonized look in his eyes made your heart twist painfully in your chest.
"Please say something," he begged.
"I just don't really know what to say."
His voice was more fragile, more broken when he said, "I don't wanna—I can't lose you."
"I think you already have."
Although there was little venom behind your words, it appeared to sting Sunghoon all the same.
"I'll tell you everything," he continued with sickening sincerity that made your ears hurt and your head spin.
Why now? Why couldn't he say all of this before? You weren't sure if it was meant to sway you in his favor, but it only made you feel more and more dreadful. You had been begging to listen to him this whole time, but he shut you out until he was about to lose you.
But this was what you came here to do—to talk to him. It wouldn't have been fair if you got your two cents out and left him in the dust. Either way, you wanted everything to come to light, anyway, so you were going to have to let him speak eventually.
"Okay," you agreed, "but I want everything you didn't tell me."
He swallowed thickly and began, "You know how my dad and brother are... all the back-and-forth over who gets Park Pharmaceuticals. Well, now that Sunjin's cleaned up his act, apparently Dad promised it to him, even though I've been preparing to inherit the company my whole life. Everything he's made me do has been for Park Pharmaceuticals, and he just took it all away from me like it's nothing.
"I mean, I've volunteered and done countless internships to prove that I have what it takes; I golf every weekend with company executives or people from the Order; I'm signed under Prada and Chopard; I attend those stupid socials every other day on top of keeping up with coursework for two majors; I know Park Pharmaceuticals like it's on the back of my hand because I've studied the organization inside-and-out and spent months shadowing at the company; I've been slogging day and night to become the man my brother failed to be—the man my father wants me to be—and I still lost to Sungjin. Nothing I do is enough, Y/N—nothing.
"My family keeps expecting me to become someone important, but they're also the ones holding me back. You're the only one who makes me feel like there's a meaning to all of this."
You sucked in a sharp breath, letting his words sink in deep until your bones felt cold and hollow. "You can't say I'm all you have after you pushed me away countless times, Sunghoon," you started. "I really wish you told me all this when I'd beg you to let me help."
"I know," he said in a soft voice, head dipped low again. "I'm sorry. I thought I was protecting you from my dad."
"Your dad? Why would I need protection from your dad?"
Sunghoon hesitated before he spoke, "He... didn't interfere with our relationship because he was banking on us getting married."
"So?" Noticing the guilty look drawn across his features, you prepared yourself for an incoming blow. "What is it?"
"Nothing."
A mumble. Eyes that refused to meet yours. It was clear as day that he was hiding something.
"What is it?" you repeated sharply.
"It doesn't matter anymore."
"If it concerns me, then I'd like to hear it."
His chest swelled from the deep breath he took. "He wanted us to get married... so that Park Pharmaceuticals could acquire your father's hospital chain."
You let it echo in your head once more, and the words swam.
If you thought this conversation was nauseating before, now it was so gut-churning that you could hardly tell if the Earth was spinning at its regular speed. You felt like you had been tugged from right behind your navel and dunked into icy water.
Someone like you, with your family's background, should have expected an outcome like this.
But you never thought Park Sunghoon would be the one to drive the knife into your back.
There was a loud ringing in your head, and you weren't exactly certain if the world was supposed to be swaying around you, but you screwed your eyes shut and asked, "Why Mercy Health? Why would a pharmaceutical company want to acquire a hospital?"
"It's 'cause medical manufacturers pay hospitals a lot of money," he explained, although he was mumbling again and it was getting on your nerves. "I guess Dad's plan is that a joint operation would make more money for both of us."
"A merger between two pharmaceutical corporations would make more sense."
"Dad's always wanted to be a revolutionary. Sales have been flatlining for pharmaceutical giants these days, so that's why he planned for something bigger. Theoretically, it's a smart plan, it's just..."
You scoffed. "You're defending him."
"I'm not—"
"You're sitting there and justifying your dad's actions as if this whole plan doesn't depend on you manipulating me!" You stood up and wedged your Dior clutch under your arm. "You didn't even think to tell me any of this before we started dating, and"—your eyes started watering and your voice was thick with emotion—"you were gonna marry me just for my family's hospital?"
"I never agreed with what my dad was doing, Y/N," he said firmly. "I never wanted you to get involved with him, so I kept it hidden from you, but my feelings for you had nothing to do with the acquisition. I'd never take Mercy Health from you."
"You should've told me before you asked me out!"
"I... thought I was doing the right thing," he replied wearily. "I didn't think it would come to this. I'm sorry."
Anger was rising in your chest. At this point, you didn't even care what you were spitting out at him because you were so infuriated.
"This is exactly your problem," you said, cold as ice, "you think you have a handle on everything, but if you were anyone but Park Sunghoon, everyone would be sick of you by now. You constantly put your company over everyone who actually cares about you. I get that you've worked your whole life for this, but there are people out there who've worked harder than you ever have, and they'll never get the opportunities that you get handed to you."
Judging by the way Sunghoon stiffened and his jaw clenched, you were sure your words had gotten to him—struck him right in his heart.
"I never once said I wasn't privileged," he muttered darkly, standing up to tower over you, "and I wouldn't mention privilege either, if I were you. We're birds of the same feather in that sense."
"I can talk about privilege all I want. You're sitting here complaining about being entitled to inherit an entire company while there are people who can only dream of that opportunity. Heeseung—"
"Don't lash out at me just because you're not motivated enough to inherit Mercy Health," he fired back. "I'm privileged, yes, but I did everything that's been expected of me since I was born. This is what I've been brought up my whole life for. Just because you're terrified of what's expected of you doesn't mean I don't deserve what I've worked for."
Motivated enough. You felt your whole body on edge at his words. How could he bring up your insecurities and anxieties over your future just to argue his point? You remembered the countless nights of you laying in Sunghoon's arms and telling him you were worried that owning Mercy Health wasn't what you wanted for your life. Worried that you could've been doing something you actually loved if you weren't pushed into a career path because of your status.
"This is the real world, Y/N," Sunghoon continued. "Maybe it's not fair that we were set for the rest of our lives as soon as we were born, but this is who we are, and you need to accept that. Face it: I'm probably the only person you're gonna fall in love with that won't have an inferiority complex around you. You're not innocent either, so don't look down on me for my father's actions as if you don't form transactional friendships yourself."
"What? I don't—"
"I remember your notebook very well," he cut you off.
Your blood ran cold.
He continued, "You can talk about our power and privilege, but don't you dare use Heeseung against me when you were the one writing about how 'expendable' he was."
You stiffened. "That—that was a really long time ago. I didn't even believe what I was writing."
"Yeah? Is it 'cause he's rich now? Now he has some worth that makes him good enough for your little circle?"
"You know that I don't think that way anymore!"
"Is that so?" But it didn't sound like a question; Sunghoon wore an impassive look on his face as his eyes bored into yours. "So you're telling me you don't constantly update that little notebook about whose family did what and who you need to get closer to?"
Years ago, back when you were a child, your father handed you a notebook with several pages of information on the children of his business partners and other wealthy families. You were instructed to either get close to certain people or stay away from others. He would draw diagrams for you, essentially ranking who was of importance and who wasn't. Naturally, as you kept having to use and update it, you created your own notes and decided for yourself who you would keep in your circle.
It was maybe a few years ago when the sight of that notebook made you feel sick. You had been categorizing everyone in your life unknowingly without realizing how messed up it was.
Sunghoon naturally was ranked high, but you were already close with him, so your father wasn't too strict about who else you got close to. That was why Heeseung was able to wriggle his way into your friend group, and although you truly valued him, you never said anything when your father had you put him down as expendable in your notebook.
And, although you deeply regretted it, the mindset of collecting information on the people around you had already been engrained into your mentality. Keeping tabs on everyone around you came far too naturally to you.
You supposed that was why you had so many barriers up in your friendships. You always held your friend group at arm's length because of the reputations you all had to uphold. Sunghoon and Heeseung were the only ones you could be yourself around, but that was before your love lives got so complicated.
But the matter at hand was breaking up with Sunghoon. After everything, you were just too exhausted and drained for more fighting.
"Heeseung may have forgiven you for that notebook," Sunghoon pressed on, "but I won't forget how anxious you made me feel back then." All I could think about was if you "
"I know it was fucked up and I'm sorry," you said, "but I seriously don't think of Heeseung—or anyone—like that. He's always been one of my best friends."
Sunghoon's anger seemed to subside, settling back under the sand. He sat back down on the couch with thinly-veiled sadness weighing him down, and he placed his elbows on his knees.
"I'm gonna leave now," you said, "unless you have anything else you wanna say."
"Don't leave yet." He was looking at the floor again. "I'll call you an Uber."
"It's a five minute walk."
"It's late; I don't care."
You sighed and went along with his request, watching as he booked the ride on his app in silence. After momentary confusion dawned on his face, Sunghoon stood up again and walked back over to pull you into a tight embrace.
After everything that he said, you were so certain that you didn't even want to look him in the eye. After feeling his arms around you, though, for what could be the last time as a couple, you ended up wrapping your arms around him and burying your face into his chest. A couple tears fell from your eyes and lingered on the fabric of his sweater.
"I'm sorry I wasn't a better boyfriend," he murmured into your hair. "I don't think our parents are gonna take this well."
You sniffled. "They won't. I don't think I'm gonna tell them yet."
"Do you think we can still be friends?"
You chewed on the idea for a moment. It was the rising hope in Sunghoon's voice that made you feel almost sorry for him.
"Not right now," you ended up saying. "We'll have to once we're in the Order, but I need some time for myself now."
"Okay."
More tears slipped down your cheeks. It was strange but you already missed him, even though you were still holding onto him. Maybe it was because once your ride was here, you knew that would be the last time you would be holding onto Park Sunghoon like this.
Neither of you said anything and just held each other tightly, hands nearly trembling in fear of letting go for the last time. When Sunghoon's phone buzzed, the both of you reluctantly separated and peered at his screen.
The Uber (which he paid a ridiculous amount for) was parked outside.
"So this is it," he said.
"This is it."
Without even thinking, you two gravitated toward each other with ease. Sunghoon held your face as if it were glass while you drew him in for a kiss with your arms wrapped around his neck. You pulled away before either of you could get carried away and gave him a sad smile.
"I'll see you later, Hoon," you said.
With longing etched deep in his eyes, Sunghoon murmured, "See you."
You felt numb during your short ride home, hardly keeping conversation with the driver. Everything that happened only sank in hours later, so you drew a hot bath and cried until you couldn't cry anymore.

𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐫𝐞: fluff, smut, friends to lovers
𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: best friend!Han Jisung x f!reader
𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: swearing, fingering, messy making out
𝐬𝐲𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐬𝐢𝐬: there's a thunderstorm outside and you don't have an umbrella. luckily your best friends apartment complex was near and you decide to go dry off at his place..but things escalate after the tension between you two finally snaps.
It was poring outside, my clothes drenched as i ran around for shelter. A small shop was still open at this hour, currently 10pm. I open my phone, looking at my location seems like I'm near Hannies place, i should go and dry off at his! I thought.
i went off to find his apartment. its been a while since i've seen him, he has been really busy with work and producing new songs for the album. though i must admit, it's been hard hanging out with him. why? because i might've catched feelings for that dork.
i enter the building, quickly running up the stairs. i fix my hair before ringing the doorbell. the door opens slightly, revealing a messy haired jisung, His facial expression immediately changing as he saw me "hey, its pouring outside. mind if i come in?" i shot him a smile. "of course! how did you even end up around here?" he chuckled letting me in and taking my wet jacket off. "i was on a meeting with my boss, nothing special" he listened with a smile plastered on his face "need some new clothes?" I nod shyly to which he laughs "no need to be shy baby, it's not your first time changing into my clothes" he winked. why did he make it sound so dirty?! "dont make it sound like that. i only changed into your clothes once because of that one sleepover" i scoff, following him into his bedroom. "yeah, whatever you say. here have these" he threw me some sweatpants and a black hoodie. He quickly left the room, letting me change in peace.
After changing i went to the kitchen, where Jisung was waiting. "thanks for the spare clothes hannie", he shot me a sweet smile, turning back to what he was doing. curiously i sneaked up behind him "cooking?" i asked, making him jump a little "yeah, or at least trying to. the rain and coldness probably got you hungry" he stirred the ramen up. "how sweet of you" i pat his shoulder. he made us each a cup of ramen, leaning onto the counter together. "so, how have you been?" he asks slurping his noodles. "oh uhm, i've been okay" I avoid his eyes. He sighed suddenly "okay i'm gonna stop acting oblivious. why have you been avoiding me?" he got straight to the point huh? "i'm sorry, i didn't mean to come off like that. i didn't want to disturb you since this past month was pretty rough for you and the guys" I quietly explain putting the ramen on the counter and turning myself to him "You really got me worried. i thought you didn't want to spent time anymore" he chuckled, repeating my moves, leaving the noodles and turning to me. "i missed you", he whispers, looking me deep in the eyes. god, my stomach was twisting "i missed you too.." i stutter out making him chuckle "oh yeah? the way I missed you or the way friends would miss each other?" he came closer. What? was he confessing? what is happening?! "i, uh what?-" I mumble out, taken aback "sorry, was i too straightforward?", he sighs "i just..realized it's hard without you around" He spoke softly, melting my heart. "forget it. i dont know what i'm saying-" i pulled him in for a hug "no, no. I like you too. just a bit unexpected" i stare into his eyes. "please tell me i can kiss you.." he huffed putting his hands on my waist, i only giggled pulling him in for a kiss. the kiss was soft yet passionate, i guess we were both longing for this. It went back and worth, the oxygen leaving both our lungs. Jisung signaled for me to jump onto the counter, which i gladly did. our tongues fighting for dominance but there was no use for that, he was sliding his hand under my shirt, caressing my spine absolutely dominating me. i sighed into the kiss. His other hand stroked my thigh. we parted "do tell if i go to far baby" he went back in, pulling me closer to his growing crotch. he untucked the strings on the sweatpants slowly taking them off my legs which i allow. he looked down, noticing that i didn't have panties on "oh? Naughty aren't we?" my cheeks flush as he said that "they were wet from the rain.." I look away embarrassed. he slowly stroke a line, making me whine. i tug on his shirt, pulling him into a kiss. he gently rubbed my clit taking in any sounds i made. As we were messily making out, he pushed a finger in. i immediatly moaned into the kiss, pulling away and covering my mouth. he pushed my hand away from my mouth, placing it on his shoulder "let me hear you" he carefully put another one in. i bit my lip, tears forming in my eyes "hurts?" i shake my head looking up at him. he shot me a smirk going in to place kisses on my neck. he sped up, the lewd sound turning us both even more on. i started shaking, about to finish "hannie, please a little more" I plead into his ear. He gladly kept the speed up making me release onto his fingers with a last loud moan. he kissed me as i was coming down my high. "we should do that more often, huh?" he narrowed his eyes at me. unfortunately his phone started ringing. he gently pulled out of me, whining at the loss of contact. he picked up "yeah? okay be there in 10." he kissed me once more on the lips ending the call. "gotta go to the studio. Chan needs me." he caressed my hair "you should stay over tonight though..its still raining" he grinned, i only rolled my eyes "i'm gonna take a shower, don't take too long with chan"

............................................
She was beginning to come back to him.
Her skin was no longer that horrid pale, and she slowly regained the color under her eyes.
Her quick wit came back on occasion, but she still held that same look in her eye. That dullness that used to be sparkle.
Joel noticed how jumpy she continued to be.
But even he knew the road to recovery wouldn't be easy.
The three walked through another abandoned town, their eyes sweeping over each building carefully.
Ellie's eyebrows furrowed, "Was this a FEDRA thing?"
Joel shook his head, "No. Army." He continued to look around as he spoke. "They put these places up all around, beginning of the outbreak. Emergency medical camps… obviously they didn't last. They had me in one just like this."
"With Sarah?"
Joel shook his head quickly, "No, she was gone already."
"Oh." Ellie nodded, "So, what was wrong with you?"
"It was for this." He pointed at his ear.
Ellie smiled slightly as she looked over to Y/N, who held just the smallest fragment of a smile. "From Y/N almost shooting you? Figured that would've happened later."
Y/N got a strange look on her face. Her voice was small, but it was there. She pulled on his sleeve, "But… Joel?"
He turned to her, bending down slightly to hear her better, "What, sweetheart?"
"I… I thought I shot your left side?"
He paused with a sigh. "Yeah. You're right."
She reached up to his left ear, running a hand over the small nick in his ear from her bullet.
Ellie scoffed, "Who shot you then?"
He stiffened, "it was me."
Y/N pulled her hand away and Ellie's mouth opened in slight shock.
Joel sat down on a nearby rock and sighed as Ellie sat next to him, "There's no story. Sarah died, and I couldn't see the point anymore. Simple as that."
Y/N approached the two, standing in front of Joel.
He continued, "And I wasn't scared either. I was ready." His voice dropped to a whisper, "I couldn't have been more ready."
The other two said nothing, giving him time to think of what to say.
"When I…" he paused, "When I… went to pull the trigger, I flinched. Still don't know why."
He finally snapped out of his thoughts to the feeling of Y/N's fingers running through his hair sweetly.
"Anyway, the reason I'm telling you all this-"
Ellie interrupted, "-I know why you're telling me all this."
"Yes, I reckon you do."
The silence that fell between the three was in thought, slightly awkward, but relaxing none the less.
"So," Ellie chimed in, "Time heals all wounds, I guess."
Joel's voice faltered, "It wasn't time that did it."
The man and girl exchanged heartfelt glances to each other as they read the other's mind.
"Well, I'm glad that didn't work out." Ellie finally nodded.
"Well… we should probably get going…"
"Yeah…"
The three began to walk again.
Joel smiled, "You know what I'm in the mood for?"
"What?" Ellie wondered.
"Shitty puns."
As Ellie began to serenade them with puns from her joke book, Joel slowly grabbed Y/N's hand to pull her next to him. He studied her face carefully, going back and forth between studying her and giving Ellie shit on the really stupid jokes.
But that ended as quickly as it had started when a grenade was thrown at their feet.
Joel shoved the girls to the ground.
The ringing in their ears was unbearable as he tried to make sense of his surroundings.
He looked up to see the figure of Ellie being dragged away. Her screams pulled him up further as he tried to reach for her.
He felt Y/N's hand on his arm, gripping his bicep with such force he thought it would bruise.
The butt of a gun hit the back of his head, the last thing he saw being Y/N's worried gaze.
Joel opened his eyes slowly as he tried to see what was around him.
"Welcome to the fireflies."
He pushed himself onto his back quickly, but the quick action made his head spin.
"Easy," Marlene chastised. "You got his pretty hard. Patrol didn't know who you were."
He took a deep breath before finally coming to his senses, "Where are they?"
"They're fine." She said, "Ellie's not hurt. Not even a scratch. She was mostly worried about you. Y/N is alright. Her hearing is a little messed up, but she's fine, too."
Joel sat up and rubbed his eyes, "Where are they?"
Marlene ignored his question again. "We lost half our crew crossing the country. I had five men whose only job was to protect me. I still almost got killed. So, how'd you do it?"
Joel shook his head, "It was them. Ellie… she fought like hell to get here."
Marlene scoffed, "she would've been dead on day one." When he said nothing, she continued, "You are the one person I never wanted to be in debt to. But I owe you. We all owe you-"
"-Just take me to her."
Marlene sighed, "I can't. She's being prepped for surgery."
Joel looked confused, "What surgery?"
Marlene's face turned to stone, "Our doctor, he thinks that the Cordyceps in Ellie has grown with her since birth."
"So, why is she in surgery?"
"I produces a kind of chemical messenger. It makes normal Cordyceps think that she's Cordyceps. It's why she's immune. He's gonna remove it from her, multiply the cells in a lab, produce those chemical messengers, and then we can give it to everyone. He thinks it could be a cure, Joel."
He sits in thought for a while before sitting up more, "Cordyceps grows inside the brain…"
Marlene nodded, "It does."
Joel's voice became low, "Find someone else."
"There is no one else. We didn't tell her, we didn't cause her any fear, there won't be any pain…"
Joel shook his head frantically, "no, no, no, no. You take me to her." He stood up quickly with a shout, "You take me to her RIGHT NOW!"
The guard next to Marlene sent a punch right into Joel's gut, making him tumble to the floor with a grunt.
He slowly calmed down as he stared at the floor. His voice became quiet and pleading, "Please, you don't understand."
Marlene nodded, "I do. I was there when she was born, Joel. I promised her mother that I would save her child. I promised. So, I do understand. I'm sorry. I have no other choice."
Joel looked up with a furious look in his eye as his murderous look returned, "I do."
Marlene had the hint of a smile at his foolishness, "Walk him out to the highway, leave him there with his pack. He tries anything," she says to the guard, "shoot him."
The guard pulls Joel up as he continues to glare at Marlene. The guard pushes his towards the doorway, but Joel stops inches from Marlene, "Where is Y/N?"
Marlene shrugs, "Doesn't matter. I'll get her back to her family. Her son. She'll trust me, Joel. Can't say the same for you."
Joel's jaw clenches as he's pushed through every hallway, memorizing his steps carefully.
The stairway was dimly lit and dirty. Joel's mind was on overdrive in thought. The occasional shoves from the guards was starting to piss him off, and he would get his revenge.
He was determined to not let himself go down without a fight.
One guard pushes him, "The fuck you doing, stopping? I said keep walk—"
He was cut off by Joel turning around and elbowing him in the face, knocking the man to the ground. Joel grabbed his gun and shot the other guard easily.
He pointed his gun to the first guard, threatening him. "Where are they?"
The guard spit blood, "Fuck you."
"I don't have time for this."
And shot the man with no remorse.

Comforting A Murder [James Patrick March]
Tumblr media
Hurt/Comfort // Smut. (I guess?)
Well you did it. You finally murdered someone, but right in the middle of a mess James wants to clean up. You attempt to comfort eachother...
18+ MINORS DNI!
Warnings: dub-con, PnV, quick fuck?, James being James.
Brb inspiring this off of ep.9 and 10. Had no ideas anymore so I figured basing this off an episode or two would help me write this.
No one's perspective

Oh, your pretty red dress. Ruined by the darkness of fresh blood. Arms and legs decorated by splashes of someone's else liquid soul. A beautiful decorated purple gun, turned black, dripping. Eyes widened; scared, confused, joy? Your mind racing with thoughts of what others would think.
Others? Each ghost more insane than the last? They didn't care. Most, happy by your calling. Liz, your best friend, daring you to talk to someone. "Talking to James will do good my dear. I understand he is in love with the countess still, but you know he takes interest in you as well."
"Sure.." A shaky word left your brain as you stood straight, gripping onto the used gun like it was a dying breath. "But... Jesus Liz, he's so... intimidating."
"Only if you don't talk to him." She stated. You took a deep breath and a step back, staring at the now decomposing lady that you laid bare. Flesh, body and soul ripped down the middle after a shot in the head. "A wonderful killing. Just like you." Liz was never too interested in the killing around the Cortez, but the way you killed... invigorating.
" 'suppose." You undressed as quickly as you killed, picking up a purple dress. The same shape, size and glimmer as the one you had murdered in. Your body still dripping in red.
"go like that. Go and find him right now."
"like this? No. Liz no! I can't. I have to wash myself. And my gun."
She shook her head and took a small drag of her cigarette. "No. Go find him. Now."
After a long silence, you took a deep and long breath, debating whether or not you should find the prolific killer. So you agreed. Walking out of the room and leaving the open torso to bleed dry, Liz watched, maybe silently judging you. You could never tell. The still image ran in your head as you walked. The heart slowing down, and the stomach just sat there, begging to be opened so the acid could dissolve everything else.
"...James." You saw him standing there, looking bewildered. He had been slapped, in front of an open hallway. An open hallway? Why on earth...? But you whispered his name as you took a step closer, transferring your gun from one hand to the other. "James.." you cleared your throat, looking down to the ground, feeling insecure. The killer looked at you, and smiled, taking his hand off his face.
"Ah, love. You look...ravishing, and a gun? My." He started, his smirk coming back to him. Nervous and worried, a blush appeared, and your hands were shaky again. The gun was still coloured darkly, leaving little trails of blood behind you. If there was any more blood on you, you would look like Carrie, an icon to you and your deranged but silent mind. "May I ask, your kill you have come back from?"
"a lady. Insulted my dress. Shot her head, then...ripped her torso. Neck to crotch." You admitted, looking everywhere but in his eyes. Another step towards you. He took your hand and looked lovingly at the gun.
"I'm so proud my dear." A teacher, smiling widely at his student, blood smearing itself over both your hands. You stared at his hands. Such precious jewels, covered in a dark thick liquid, a gun being shared between two. A small gulp and another deep breath. "What are you nervous about?" He asked as you looked up to the open hallway, a looming darkness. It scared you, but you never showed it. You wanted to impress James, being scared would annoy him.
Oh just how wrong you were. James could tell you were scared about what could have been lurking in the hallway. What a wonderful thing to use to his advantage. "This hallway is empty my darling. Nothing exists here." He simply stated. Innocently looking back up to him and seeming like you didn't understand anything he was saying. Like you didn't believe him. "Go on. Walk in. You have your dear gun, use it if need to." Absolutely not.
But a cold hand on your back, pushing you in. It left a faint handprint on you, and James noticed, letting out a small chuckle. It rang through the looming hallway, making you shake more. Holding the gun in front of you, worriedly looking around. Then a shot. You shot something. You think. Maybe? But you turned and ran. Ran into James' chest, even if he didn't wrap his arms around you as you secretly hoped he would. "You found something?"
"I think...I think so?" Your voice was hurried, and resting your head on his chest.
"Come dear. Let's take you away from this." He placed a dead hand on the small of your back, still bloody. The blood on you was decently dried now, feeling unable to wash it off. Eyes always straight and front as you both walked. Meeting anyone's eyes would increase your guilt about the murder. Such a beautiful but meaningless kill in James' mind. Killing someone for insulting your pretty red dress? Insanity.
James' room appeared before you, and you were led into it. Cold but comforting. A room you had wanted to go into. Forever. Everything interested you. Mindlessly, you started to wander around. Leaving gentle touches over every surface. The interest you two had with each other, coming to light. Your wonder and innocence, lit up when you walked around. Going in circles, your hand loosening around the firearm you held so dear. A beautiful thing, all based on your personality. James picked it up as you stepped in another circle, staring out of the window.
Ah, the open world. Nothing you missed. Bullied for the way you worked, and how you carried yourself. You left the daylight alone and stayed in the Cortez. Liz and Iris helping you with anything you need from the open world. "Dear. You are lost again." James murmured, standing behind you. A breath? Maybe? By the crook of your neck. "Ah yes, the life outside of this hotel. You should not worry about it, my dear. You are here now. You are here forever, murdering just because?"
Words that left him, and made you shiver. "But, I want the life again."
"I understand darling, but you must understand that this hotel can offer you more. Offer you something you could not find outside." A hand, gripping the front of your neck, thick fingers finding a vein and pressing on it, hard. "The people here are dangerous, wonderful. Full of deprived attraction." A hitch in your breath as the pressure got harder and harder. The stopping of your breath and its effects on James were pressed against your back. Was he really getting hard at this? Really? Okay...
"James..." All you did was lean against him, your neck open to him again, so many possibilities, and so many things he could do to you. A low groan, maybe a snarl leaving him. His free hand exploring your side, gripping at the dress fabric and feeling the dried blood on you. Every touch felt odd like you shouldn't be enjoying it so much. But your love for James, and the way your need for him manifested as killing for him. Innocents who did nothing to you but make a snarky comment, a little joke. Why was he so irresistible to you? A killer who died nearly 100 years ago, who loves murder, fine absthine, and his students.
Wandering hands trailing down your back, pulling down the zipper. The purple fabric fell swiftly off you, pooling around your flats and the blood-covered legs of yours. All this talk and touch of murder, blood, opening someone up, it was nothing but erotica turned real to him. Such a need for someone he did not know too well. Who was he to deny such a gift? Deny the chance to make someone feel something other than rage and upset.
Such moveable skin in front of him, the way he touched and practically groped you, making you feel mindless already. Your head, silently thrown back onto James' shoulder, feeling every touch he gave. The way he gripped onto your hips, such a need and desire in him. You practically threw yourself onto the bed, but sat on your knees politely. Even when a feeling of warmth spread through you, nerves were still there and you never wanted to upset your dear so. Shy, doe eyes watching a ghost undress. A quick coyote, readying himself to catch the doe it craved.
Silence in your voices, but catching breaths, underwear ripped off of you. You were being pulled up from your knees and pushed down onto all fours. He fucked like you were going away that night. Barely any time to catch your breath as he kept going.
Faster.
Harder.
Fucking you like the world was ending. Your moans; loud, unfiltered, they could be heard anywhere in the Cortez. His were reserved but animalistic in nature, never giving you a break. You screamed his name, as he yelled yours. Bruises were appearing on your neck, hips and thighs.
When had the dam been broken? You wondered as you cleaned yourself up, starting to sit up. Looking over to your side, James was half-dressed already. "I will admit my darling, that blood drying itself on you truly is enchanting." He nonchalantly mentioned, walking over to where you sat. A little hum in response, looking to the side where James was not. The ghost pulled your face towards him and left a kiss on your wanting lips. Pushing yourself forward to try and kiss him again, only to be denied.
Only to be denied as he picked up that purple gun you adored.
Only to be denied as he reloaded it.
Only to be denied as he aimed it at your worrying face.
BANG.
Only to be denied one last breath, one that you could've kissed him again with.

The Honor of Trying Not to Step on Your Foot
Fem!Reader
Summary: Wriothesley had a habit of skipping out on the more formal events within Fontaine. It was a habit he would not be breaking anytime soon, but he usually tried to at least show up for ten minutes before trying to slip away. Sometimes he would get lucky with something happening at the fortress. Normally he would just send Sigewinne in his place but circumstances at the Fortress require both of them to stay behind unknowing of if they will even show up.
Words: 2,502
AN: It's my birthday week and I choose the self-indulgence fic to post. And sometimes a girl dreams of a dance that never happened. Happy early birthday to me. In seriousness. I used this as a chance to practice writing for Navia.
“So are you here under medical personnel for Fontaine?” Naiva asked as the two of them looked over the selection of macaroons Before them.
“No. They don't invite pharmacists to these soirées usually.” Y/N answered.
Naiva smiled at her downplaying the event they were at. “So you're here with your mother. Some big shot invite the two of you to show off her artwork?” She guessed again.
“Nope. My mom is at home painting for some big shot though.” Y/N laughed at how she could see the wheels turning in her head trying to guess what was going on.
Naiva frowned with worry. “Please tell me you aren't back together with that guy.” She stated with worry thinking about how often Y/N was at events like this during her previous engagement.
“No. That guy could eat dirt for all I care. I cut him off for good.” She reminded her.
Relief washed over her face. “That's good. I was afraid that I was about to talk you out of that relationship for the night.” It was something Navia only brought up cause she knew for a fact that she saw Y/N’s ex earlier when she got here.
“You know I could tell you why I'm here instead of guessing.”
“And take all the fun out of me using my detective skills? No way. It's been a minute since I've seen you. We should have fun with this.”
Y/N laughed. “Okay. Have your fun. Do you want a hint?”
“A small one.”
“I'm here in place of someone in case they can't show up.”
“Did something happen?”
“Yes, but it's not like they enjoy showing up to these events anyway.”
Naiva racked her brain thinking over the details she knew about Y/N’s life. “Are you two close?”
“Yes.” She smiled as she thought of the person Naiva tried to guess.
“Do you work with this person?”
“More of for.” She answered even though it wasn’t fully accurate.
Naiva took a bite of a macaroon to fuel her brain as she thought of why Y/N could be here. “Are you here for Wriothesley or Sigewinne?”
“Both.”
“Both?”
“Mostly for Wriothesley. Sigewinne still may show up. She's excited to see Neuvillette.” Y/N explained. “I got called to show up here last minute.”
“Oh, why's that?”
“Something happened at the Fortress. I don't know the details though. If I wasn't told that I would have thought Wriothesley was just trying to get out of a public appearance again.”
Naiva laughed. “I heard that Charlotte plans on camping out just to get an interview from him.”
Y/N shook her head. “Poor girl. She's not getting one.”
“You have to admire her determination at least.”
“That you do.” Y/N began moving away from the dessert table they were standing at with Naiva following. “So you and Clorinde? How's reconnecting going?”
“It's been going well. We even found a new tabletop game to try out. It's not exactly like old times but it's still good.” She explained. “She even helped me pick out a dress for this evening.”
“Ah, that sounds like it was fun. At least one of you gets to have fun dressing up. Even though Furina isn't in charge anymore, she still ends up having to work on these events. Probably be more enjoyable as a guest.”
“I feel like that depends on the company you have around you during these. Also when you dance cause you want to and not cause you’re being shown off.”
Naiva laughed. “Well, have you gotten the chance to dance yet?”
“I was asked before I found you over here but there’s only one person I really want to dance with and that’s not guaranteed. Plus dancing with someone who demands you use their full title is such a turnoff.” Y/N reasoned.
She laughed. “Well, you are at least doing a great job representing the current administration of the Fortress.”
“Except that Wriothesley likes his title, he just hates just about everything else that title requires of him.” Y/N rolled her eyes. “I swear anytime I hear someone refer to him as “Your Grace,” I think I’m going to go insane.”
“So what do you call him while you are working down there?”
“His name usually.”
“Usually?” She teased.
“Also ‘Ri’. I’ve known him long enough for him to have a nickname for him.”
“I’ve known you longer and I don’t have a nickname.”
“You don’t have a name I had to spend a week to remember how to spell.” Y/N reasoned.
Navia frowned. “I’ll give you that.” She would have to live a life without a nickname from her. Oh well. “So you still want to dance for fun?”
“Are you offering?” She remembered the last time she danced with Navia at one of these events. “Last time you stepped on my foot.”
“It was an accident. How many times do I have to apologize?”
“Until someone steps on my foot worse.”
“Ugh. You know I hope you step on someone's foot one day so you would know how bad I feel.”
“That wouldn't happen though. My mother put me through so many dancing and singing classes as a kid. Such is being a child of a family of artists, I know too many artistic talents even if I won't use them.”
“Well, you should use one of them now. It's either dancing or eating more desserts.”
“Well, will one of my dearest friends care to dance?” Y/N asked with a playful curtsy.
“I would love the honor of trying not to step on your foot.” She accepted mimicking her actions with a laugh.
The two of them moved across the ballroom not taking the dance too seriously. There was the occasional twirl of each other every now and then. It was loose and fun. Their dance wasn’t anywhere as formal as anyone else on the floor. It was something that reminded Y/N how much she missed dancing.
Even though she worked in Fontaine above and the underworld she still had time for her hobbies. Most of her hobbies now had become reading books and being a model for one of her mother’s paintings when she needed a reference—maybe baking as well. However, that was more of a hobby she picked up from being friends with Navia. It was fun to exchange recipes.
It was during one of the times Navia was spinning her that she had flung her right into a person. It happened so quickly that she didn't even see who it was right away. Naiva let out a laugh letting go of Y/N’s hand.
“So sorry.” Y/N looked up at the person she was apologizing to. “You made it.” She moved into a hug which Wriothesley returned.
“I got everything taken care of. I don’t think Sigewinne was going to let me even skip once I told her that you were here standing in for us.”
Navia looked over the two of them. For two people who were supposedly single, their actions said otherwise. She knew their working relationship had grown into a close friendship since Y/N had begun helping out in the infirmary of the Fortress. But even this was too intimate of a hug between just friends with how close they held each other.
She had always kept her business with the Fortress to a minimum. All that the Spina di Rosula helped within the Fortress was supplies and logistics. In the meetings that she had with that man, she found it exhausting to only be improved by good tea. In all her interactions she couldn’t see any similarities between how he usually acted and how he was acting now.
His normally cold eyes were filled with so much warmth as he looked over Y/N. His hands lingered on her as they pulled apart from the hug. They looked as if everyone else here was invading what should have been a private moment.
Y/N turned with a hand pointing at Navia. It was almost like she had only just remembered that she was there as well. “It hasn’t been too boring at all. I’ve been in good company all night. I believe I don’t have to introduce the two of you.”
“Are you two close?” Wriothesley asked.
“My mother did a painting of her parents before they passed. So while my mother got the initial sketches, my grandmother tried to teach us how to cross stitch.”
“You had such a natural talent for it.” Navia thought back on the childhood memory.
“You must be misremembering. I couldn’t thread the needle and I kept picking colors that clashed.” Y/N explained.
Navia laughed. “I still have the little cross stitches we did in Poisson. They have a bit of water damage but it's still proof enough that you did well.”
Y/N shook her head. “It doesn’t matter when you are the one who kept the hobby. You could run circles around me now.” She looked back at Wriothesley finishing the answer to his question. “We don’t see each other too often but we try to keep in touch. Mostly letters in between meetings.”
Wriothesley took his hand off Y/N’s back. “Then I’ll let the two of you be. Maybe I can send you in place of me at these things with Navia here to keep you company. You both looked like you were having fun dancing.”
Navia could see his face fall a bit. Even though he could be annoying to work with he was at least respectful. But holding even the obvious to see cards against his chest was going to hurt him at least emotionally one day. Maybe she only thought that as someone who described even herself as having her heart on her sleeve.
“Actually I stepped a bit weird while we were dancing. It would be best if I rest my ankle for now.” She lied. “You should take my place as her dance partner.”
“Oh, I couldn’t.” Wriothesley tried to turn down the idea. “You two could go sit and talk. The type of dancing I know involves a boxing ring anyway.”
Navia wanted to roll her eyes so badly. Why was he being so dense? Was he always this dense and she hadn't noticed it? “Her mother had her in so many dance classes that I'm sure she could teach you.”
“I wouldn't say I'm so good that I can teach?”
“You downplay yourself. Surely you've known her just long enough to know when she's being hard on herself.” Was it so hard for them to enjoy a bit of romance?
“I don't want to impose. I probably see her more than you anyway. You two should spend time together.” Wriothesley was not even going to have a chance to slip away from this. Events like this just always felt so stuffy to him. His shirt already felt buttoned up too high. He really thought he found a way out of this place.
Navia pinched the bridge of her nose before looking back at the two of them. She mentally apologized to Y/N. “I was told earlier how there was someone Y/N really wanted to dance with. Now she never told me who but I'm sure that wasn't with me.” She crossed her arms before continuing. “You two should enjoy yourselves. Y/N you'll be a wonderful teacher. I'm going to rest my ankle. Now would you please just dance with my friend.” It was more of a demand than a question.
Navia turned away, walking off perfectly fine for someone who said her ankle hurt from stepping wrong. She made a beeline over to where Clorinde, Sigewinne, and Neuvillette were talking. She must have already said something about what had happened as the three of them looked over at Wriothesley and Y/N. They all looked so tired and annoyed by their behavior.
Y/N turned her head to face Wriothesley. “Look, we don't have to dance if you don't want to. I know you would rather sneak away from here maybe find a nice bar and get a beer instead.”
Wriothesley smiled. “You aren't wrong. I just don't fit in here. I mean I showed up with a fresh cut on my face.” He pushed his bangs back showing off the wound that Sigewinne had already closed up. It wasn't anything too deep. Sigewinne even said that he would probably be healed in a day or two. His hand dropped back to his side letting his hair fall back in place.
Y/N laughed. “I was going to say you just look uncomfortable. You usually have your tie so loose. I don't think I've ever seen it on you properly.”
“Looks weird, doesn't it?”
“A bit but other than that cut, I think you clean up nice.” Her eyes wandered to the floor before meeting his again. “If you're going to go sneak out, could I at least walk you to the door? Maybe I could at least help it make it look like you aren't sneaking away and it more like you were needed at the fortress again.”
Wriothesley laughed. The band that had been playing should have stopped their playing so she could have better heard the song that played before her. “Careful. I might take you up on that then you'll never get that dance.”
Y/N rolled her eyes. “I should remind her what is and isn’t a private conversation.”
“So do I get to know who you wanted to dance with or was Navia trying to get you to settle for me?” He teased.
“I don’t want to force you.”
Wriothesley took her hand. “And miss out on how happy you looked spinning around in that gown. I think I can survive one attempt at dancing before I try and sneak out.” He pulled her back in close. “Show me how.” He mimicked the positions others were holding their dance partner.
She normally had an easy time meeting his gaze. But this felt all too public knowing how much Wriothesley valued his privacy. Why did she feel so shy all of a sudden? She's made out with the man enough times to where this should be nothing. “Even with them watching?” She pointed her head over to where the group of their friends had gathered.
“They were bound to find out soon enough. I wouldn’t be surprised if Sigewinne already told them.” He let go of her hand and moved it below her chin, raising her head back up to look him in the eyes. “Now would my dance instructor teach me what to do? I’ve managed to avoid dancing at these things as long as possible so I may be a little clueless on this.” “Last chance to try and sneak out.” She warned.
“I’ll take my chances here with you. I could sneak out later if I do really bad.” He let go of her chin and went back to holding her hand.
Y/N laughed. “Then I’ll have to sneak out to comfort you, won’t I?”

"It won't fit Simon"
"I'll make it fit"
You may ask how you got into this situation, well let's see:
♤Flashback♤
"One shot for me and the lady" A voice said over the loud music in the pub. A voice you would recognise anywhere: it was Gho- Simon. But he didn't wear a mask this time.
It's been two week since you last saw him because he actually didn't turn up at the hospital. To your suprise.
You had kind of missed him. Especially the way his eyes would follow every move you would make. It made you nervous but also aroused. Would he look the same at you when naked?
You were ripped out of your thoughts by the shot being placed on the table in front of you.
"Didn't think I would see you here, Doc"
A small laugh escaped your red tinted lips.
"Well I love surprising people I guess" He hums in agreement.
"You were able to stay unharmed. Got my respect"
He chuckled at your words, gulping down his shot.
"Well I was forbidden to come back, wasn't I" he turned his head in your direction, eyes staring into yours. There was something calm in them but also something you couldn't decipher what it was.
A small formed on your face. "I didn't forbid it, I just don't want to see you hurt. Can't judge me for doing my job"
He opened his mouth to answer but a chair was suddenly thrown through the bar. A fight broke out.
Simon had grabed your hand in less than a second and pulled you to the exit. The fresh and cold night air hit your face.
"You wanna go to my flat?"
His random question shocked you for a moment. Did he want to continue the talk? Or maybe...
"Yeah sure" ~~~~~~~~~~~ You now sat on his couch while ge was grabbing some wine.
His flat was a bit bland. There weren't many pictures or plants, the furniture was modern yet classic. It all suited him well.
He came back with two glasses of wine and sat down next to you, putting the glasses on the table.
It was quiet.
You looked at him, only to see him already starring at you. Fuck was he hot. You could already feel yourself getting warm. Well more like your vagina.
A minute went by and none of you broke the eye contact, and you couldn't take this tension anymore. 'Fuck it' you thought and grabbed his face between your hands to smash your lips on his.
He didn't seem surprised because he instantly kissed back. The once gentle kiss became faster and more desperate. You lifted yourself on his lap to grind against him, feeling his hard erection in his jeans.
He let out a soft moan at your movement, putting his hands on your waist to help you guide.
"Do you want this?" He asked with a breathy voice. You nodded yes and pulled your shirt off.
You smirked a little at his reaction, knowing it was because of the lack of your bra.
"Dirty girl" he growled, his mouth latching onto one nipple, pulling and biting it a bit. You moaned in response, quickening your pace.
Once he let go of your breast, his hands wrapped around you to lift you up. He carried you to his bedroom, throwing you on the bed.
"Never thought I would see you like that, doc" "Shut up and fuck me already" He laughed at your response.
"Your wish be my comand"
Your pants and panties were down in a second and his fingers were feeling your wet lips. You bit back a moan at the feeling.
"So wet for me already tz tz. Don't even have to prepare you, mh?"
He slipped two fingers inside your folds and groaned. He then began to move them in a slow pace.
"Fuck your so tight, my love. So thight and wet for my fucking cock"
His fingers sped up and he added another on inside. He curled them a bit and looked at you to see your reaction. You were a moaning mess under him. Sweat dripped down your forehead and your nipples were hard. You felt your first orgasm nearing.
"C'mon baby cum for me. I can feel you clenching"
You came on comand and let out a loud moan. You never came that fast before.
He pulled off his shirt and pants to reveal his throbbing member. And damn was it big. Too big. It was long and thick, a bit curved to the right. Twp long veins went from the tips to the bottom. He looked fucking delicious.
Simon crawled on top of you and kissed you. It was gently and full of passion.
"Do you really want this? We can stop if you want" he said as he broke the kiss apart.
Your heart swelled at his worry.
"I want it. I want it with you Simon" You whispered. A smiles formed on his face.
"Then prepare yourself to get ruined"
He planted on hand on the right side of your head and the other went downwards to his dick.
He started rubbing it over your pussy, creaming himself in your juices. You moaned out in anticipation.
♤flackback ends♤
"It won't fit Simon"
"I'll make it fit"
At that he pushed his whole length into your hole. You half screamed at the intrusion, wrapping your legs around his waist, nails clawing into his back.
"You're so fuckin' tight love I can feel you trying to clench around my cock" He groaned.
You stayed in this position and he waited for you to give him the signal to continue. You did.
He put his hand on your waist and stared fucking you at a normal pace. Yet you could swear you felt every single edge and vein of his dick. It felt amazing.
After a while he decided to speed the whole thing up and started rubbing your clit. The moans that left your mouth only seemed to encourage him even more to move quicker.
But he himself wasn't quiet either. He let our small groand and huffs while pumping his dick into you. Minutes went by and you noticed his moved becoming more frantic.
"Fuck I'm close, where do you want it?"
"Inside pl-please"
You could also feel you high coming nearer ever time he ramed into you.
And there it was. Your walls clenched around him and your stomach thighend. You came with a scream which was half muffeled by his mouth capturing yours.
"Fuck sweetheart y-you made a mess" he laughs while trying to chase his own orgasm. He sped his pace up again.
"Fuck fuck fuck"
He then came with a groan and nearly collapsed on you. He pulled out and layed down besides you.
After some seconds of peace you were pulled into his arms, lips touching your hairline.
"You did so well for me. I'm proud of you, my girl"
"Weren't bad yourself, big guy" You said while smiling.
He laughed breathlessly and slowly got up. Your puzzled look at his action made him open his mouth. "I'm gonna grab a towel and clean you up okay? After that we can sleep a bit"
You nodded tiredly "Yeah sound nice" Simon bended over to give you one last kiss before leaving the room.
You breathed out in satisfaction. "Fucking hell"

It was morning and you were laying in bed with your boyfriend but you felt you were miles and miles away from him. Namjoon had a huge California king size bed and you always found yourself furthest away from him come morning time. Of course It wasn’t done on purpose but the bed was bigger than it needed to be. It didn't matter how close you slept with him at night you would wake up on the complete opposite side.
“Baby?”  Namjoon opened his eyes, patting the spot closest to him on the bed, signaling that he wanted you near him. You were too far away from him for his liking. Every morning was the same routine. Namjoon would ask you to be closer to him or sometimes pull you by him without saying a word.
Your man was so clingy in the mornings,  it didn’t matter if you made love the night before or even  early morning it wasn’t enough for him,  he loved to be on you and you on him it was his favorite.
“I’m so sorry this bed is huge. I always wake up on the other side. Seriously sometimes I forget I’m not sleeping alone.” You got up from the bed.
“Come here” he pouted you weren’t moving fast enough for him. “I don’t like it when you are so far from me.” Namjoon’s dragon eyes bore into you.
You felt weak in the knees as you moved close to his side, he pulled you on to his side and wrapped his arms around you as soon as you got close enough to him and he snuggled up against you, he loved being like this with you to feel your soft, warm skin and to smell your familiar natural scent. It drove him wild.
“We need a new bed. I can't do this anymore.” He said rubbing his hands over your waist. “A smaller one where we can always be close like this. I miss it, I don't know why I thought getting a big bed like this was such a good idea. ” Namjoon left small kisses on your neck.
“Yea, you were the one who decided on this bed.” you teased turning to face him kissing his plump lips.
“Hey, it was a nice bed and it was before I met you it was expensive too. Had I known I wasn't going to be single for long and be so in love with you. ” He kissed your lips back, his hand tracing up your arm. “I love you so much y/n I wouldn’t change anything… well I would change this bed.” He rubbed your arms.
“I love you so much Joonie, too much. So a new bed then? ” before he could answer you glanced at the clock and jumped out of bed. Oh shit you were going to be late for work.
You came back home from work, immediately removing your heels once you reached the apartment door. Standing up and walking around for hours upon hours giving visitors tours around the museum really did take a toll on your feet.
“Namjoon ?” You called out for your boyfriend. Your feet were killing you and you were hoping he would be up for giving you one of his famous foot rubs.
“Close your eyes.” Namjoon said as he made his way towards you, standing behind you he covered your eyes with both his hands “no peeking, keep them close for me.” You guessed he had something else in store for you.
“What did you do now Joon? I hope you did not  burn another pot.” The last time he told you to close your eyes it wasn’t for a good reason. You instantly thought he had messed something up again.
Namjoon tried to make a romantic dinner for the two of you, but he forgot the pot of boiling noodles, which were completely dried up now and the pot burnt. The fire alarm went off and it was a miracle the sprinklers didn’t go off as well. Namjoon slowly and carefully walked you somewhere,  you didn’t have a clue where to because your eyes were covered and he definitely and he might have spun you around seemingly trying to throw you off.
“Ok I’m going to remove my hands now.” He did so slowly and you were in your shared bedroom and noticed the much more smaller bed that the both of you were talking about getting earlier
your eyes widened at the gesture. Your sweet caring boyfriend who like you didn’t want to be too far apart from you.
“ Oh my God you got us a new bed. I love it. We never needed that humongous bed.” You rushed to the bed jumping on it “oh and look I still have enough room to do this.” You kept jumping up and down on the bed like a little kid you then dropped down on your knees. Namjoon stared at you with a huge grin on his face.
“You are such a kid you know that? ” Namjoon laughed at your actions while watching you intently. You could see his smile reaching his eyes now. It was cute when he smiled so brightly, you could tell when he was genuinely happy because his eyes would smile too.
“I need to shower and then we can break this bed in” you got up and went to the bathroom. You couldn’t wait to soak in the bath and relax after a hard day’s work.
Tumblr media
You crawled on your side of your bed with nothing but a towel wrapped around your body, you moved closer to your boyfriend who was too focused on his book. “What are you reading?” You asked your smart beautiful boyfriend, poking his cheek to make sure you got his attention. You knew just talking to him you wouldn’t get through yo him not when he’s into his book.
“Demian” Namjoon quickly answered you before taking a few more minutes to continue  reading his book. You knew he had to finish the page before he even thought of closing his book. Who leaves a book in the middle of a page anyway?
You blow a raspberry into the air trying to catch his attention. He was taking a bit too long for your liking. You thought he was just finishing his last page but he was too immersed in the book he read a few more.
“Alright what is it ? Is my baby needy?” Namjoon closed the book.
“Yes she is and I’m almost naked.” You get up from the bed and remove the towel that was covering your body.
“I see that, now come lay down right here my pretty girl.” Of course you oblige Namjoon's eyes glued to your naked frame.
“I missed you, all I could do was think of you at work.”you lay on the bed next to him.
“Is that so?” His hands made their way up and down your body, caressing your soft mounds. He loved your breasts and he could never get enough of them. They were full and so soft and like his own personal stress balls.
“Mhm, that feels so good.” You replied weakly his mouth latched onto your nipple as his other hand toyed with your other nipple. You closed your eyes enjoying the sensation, your legs began to widening at his ministrations.
“I want to feel how wet you are for me.” he positioned himself between your legs. Namjoon grabbed his cock rubbing it up and down your slit, barely sticking the tip in you, torturing you.
“I want you to fill me with your cock.” You bit your lip watching as his bare dick slid up and down your clit. Your juices coating his dick each time he applied a bit more pressure.
“Do you think you’re wet enough for me?” His two fingers pressed against your clit as he moved them in a circular motion. You felt like he was slowly driving you insane the more he kept at it. Namjoon kept his eyes on you with a strand of his hair sticking to his forehead thanks to the sweat.
“Yes…. I’m wet enough please Joonie…please”
“Please what? Tell me what you want, princess. I need you to use your words.” He lightly smacked your clit and you yelped at the sensation. “I want to taste you. I love that sweet pussy of yours.” You let out a deep breath.
“I want you so bad…. Please…I can't….” Your brain short circuited and wouldn’t allow you to speak.
“Shhh I got you little pretty one.”  Shortly after Namjoon's fingers were replaced by his tongue he carefully licked at your folds taking his time with it and you placed your hands over his head gently rubbing his hair. You started wiggling as soon as his mouth closed over your clit and he started sucking on it.
Namjoon showed no mercy as he noisily alternated between sucking and licking your pussy. Your legs flailing at the pleasure his mouth was delivering to you. Namjoon held your legs tightly and continued on, he knew you were very close now.
Your moans filling the room were louder than the tv playing in the background. You grabbed your boyfriend’s hands as you came in his mouth and he was now drinking you. You watched him remove his head from between your legs, his lips covered in your essence.
“You’re so hot when you cum in my mouth and you taste so good too. I can stay eating your pussy for hours.”
Namjoon was back between but this time it was his dick that would be inside you, he didn’t stop until he was fully deep inside your velvety walls.
You gasped holding onto his back “oh fuck Joonie, I want you to fuck me good.” you grabbed his back watching him go in and out of you.
“I’m going to fuck you real good baby it’s what you deserve. My dick is right where it is made to be, inside of you.” His finger toyed with your clit as he stroked deeper inside of you. He touched your every being when he was in you like this he made you feel so alive, like tiny electric coursing through your veins.
“I love you.” you cried out feeling your body getting closer and closer to your release of pleasure, his body consuming you. Namjoon knew all the things to do to make you feel good. It was as if he knew your body better than he knew his own.
Namjoon pinched a nipple as he slammed himself harder into you “mmm Fuck that’s it Namjoon, right there please don’t stop.” Just like that he was hitting the special spot he knew would drive you crazy. He could have you saying and doing anything as long as he kept hitting that spot.
“You want me to cum inside this tight little nice pussy of yours?” He whispered in your ear your walls clenched around him, you were on edge ready to orgasm any minute now. “Yes Namjoon… want you to… please give me… cum inside… I”
“Look at my fucked out little baby… can’t even think straight when I’m at the hilt filling her with my cock. Tell me baby, I want to know how you feel right now.” Namjoon knew you had a filthy mouth on you  too and he wanted to hear just how good he was making you feel.
“It feels good…so so so good I never want you to stop… wish we could fuck all day… I need you to always fuck and fill my pussy up with your cum until I can’t take it anymore and it’s overflowing out of my pussy.”
Namjoon pressed his body close to yours as he entered in and out of your body . He loved your bodies being so close as you both came he wanted  to feel and see every reaction your body made because of him. Soon after your body felt like it was lit by a fire that no one could put out your orgasm ripping through your body, making you feel warm and fuzzy everywhere at once.
Namjoon filled you up with his cum some drops spilling on your thigh as he pulled out of you.  You felt his hand cup your pussy “my princess is the prettiest when I fill her up with my seed.” He leans over to you pecking your lips.
“That was beyond amazing, I don’t think I can move. "You said, placing your hands over your chest, you took in deep breaths. You could feel Namjoon’s saliva from before still on your chest.   “Take your time baby. I’ll bring you some water.” Namjoon got up from the bed, still naked to go get you a glass of water. You looked at the bed your boyfriend l bought so that the two of you could sleep closer together.
“Here you go baby, I hope you can at least sit up.” Namjoon placed a coaster on the night stand by your bed, placing the glass of water as close as possible to you. You smiled at his endearing  gesture.  Your man always took care of you after sex.
“I’m glad you got this bed, now we can sleep closer together. That bed was too big for us and I always felt so far away from you.” You soon gained the strength to grab the glass of water, finally taking a drink from the glass.
“No more California king bed for us ever again” he gave you a soft smile “well that was your idea mr. California king but I agree .” You rested your head on Namjoon’s shoulder.

Hit you again, like a truck..
THIS IS REPOSTED FROM MY OLD BLOG!
A/n: This is the second post to my new blog so please be nice! I'm going to try to make this into a series so please show this story a bit of love and reblog!
Pairing: Jake 'Hangman' Seresin x Y/n 'Haze' Mitchell
Word count: 1.4k
Summary: Y/N has finally showed herself after seven years. The reuniting with her friend with benefits may have not been the best but the new confidence boost helped…
Based of the song: Lavender Haze by Taylor Swift
Warnings: Angst and cursing
Tumblr media
“Bradshaw!” You yell through the hard deck as your eyes lay upon the familiar to aviator .
“Is that you, Haze?” Bradley calls out not believing that the other Mitchell would be back stateside or even at the perimeter of California, “This is how I find out you’re stateside, Haze?”
Bradley takes of his sunglasses laying a proper look at you as he tucks his glasses into his beloved Hawaiian shirt. “Yeah, I just thought I’d surprise you.”
You do a tiny run up on the three small steps at the deck, making you level with the floor the pool table is; where Bradley and unknown to you aviators are.
“Hmm.” Bending down, he engulfs you into a hug having to lean down a bit due to height difference .
He never thought he would see you again. For the last seven years you've been like a ghost. Text came in from you once for every couple months, maybe a call ever year or so and then you'd disappeared like some old haze.
"You know I think you've gotten shorter from the last time I saw you," he says still engulfing you, inhaling the familiar lavender scent, the sweet perfume you've always chose.
You lift your knee, putting force in the forward motion as it makes direct contact with Rooster’s groin.
He grunts, thinking that somehow the violence of short Mitchells has made itself upon you. Rooster bends, clutching his stomach with a pained expression. “I guess I surprised you twice than.”
Rooster squints in pain as he lift his look directly at you putting on the most unsuccessful smile, “It’s good to see you.”
“Good to see you too,” you replies but quickly distract yourself by a following question that you ask. “Do you know if he's he—.”
Changing the song on the jukebox to the 86th number and making his way back to the group giving over a beer to Coyote, Jake gaze falls upon you.
“Haze,” he lets out, as he takes the cue out of Bobs hands before he could shoot. “As I live and breathe.
“Hangman,” You say back, looking at the man who feeling you have for are unsure, for the first time in seven years.
“You look…fairly alive.” Hangman lines up his cue with the ball, “Well, I am alive, Haze.” The two of you finally connect eyes, those green eyes as mesmerizing as you remembered, “I’m very alive, Haze. In fact, I really thought someone would have got ridden of you right now.”
All turn to Rooster in disbelief and that look that tells you to fill someone in. “So,” Coyote start, “What's brought the witch back to life?
“Call me a witch one more time, Javy, and I will strangle you with your own testicles ”
The balls clatter as Jake re-takes a shot hitting in the remaining ball.
“You've changed quite a bit, Haze. Last time we talked there was not that much confidence in you.”
Rooster rubs his stache with that ‘you can’t seriously bring this up again.’ “At least I don't lead anyone to an early grave.”
Low punch, grave deep for you.
“Well, look at you Lieutenant, you would've never made it this far without your daddy's and godfathers help,” Hangman steps closer, the distance between his face and yours barely exists.
“Mention my father Seresin and I mention yours.”; The next sentence that comes out of your mouth is solid cold but that doesn't stop you.
"And it's not Lieutenant anymore, Jakob, it's Commander Captain to be exact and the Commander Captain that will be flying with your team for the next couple weeks. So watch out Hangman. One wrong move and you're out."
Hangman really wanted to build up on your nerves and had no problem doing it, “First time I see you're not with your asshole and not running back to me, Mitchell, what happened? Daddy knocked some sense into you?” Jake licks his lip while smirking, “Now that I know that you're not in a grave yourself I might do the honors and put you there.”
“Watch it, Seresin,” Phoenix snapped at him, but got ignored by his act. She might fly with him and barely know you but that's beyond the point.
He's getting to arrogant even for himself and at this point it's just bullying. “I love this song.”
‘Slow ride.'
He smirks and walks back down to the bar.
“Well, he hasn’t changed,” you says with the lack of surprise in your tone, expecting worse than this.
“Nope,” Bradley agrees, hands in a fist still mad at what Jake said to you. “Sure hasn’t.”
Fanboy comes up to you and Rooster full shock of what just happened, “I don't know if we're on your side or not but the way you stood up to Bagman was just wow.”
He waves his hands in front of you trying to prove his point. Fanboy doesn't know you but surely is already impressed that he gets to work with you.
Phoenix puts her cue down, wrapping her arm around your shoulder. “Y/n "Haze" Mitchell. The legend of the sky is finally back and hopefully can kick Bagman's ego down to the grave. This little lady is a legend and a god. The things that she does in the air are mental.”
Fanboy exhales, not expecting your second name to be Mitchell.
“Mitchell. As in Maverick kinda Mitchell?”
“Ughhhhh people still recognize me as that—yeah Maverick is my dad. And I'm not a legend Phoenix, I'm a psycho, nearly died last time.”
Rooster frowns, “What happened?” This is not the first time he heard such thing.
Hangman glances over to Rooster and the rest of you talking like he still cared, “Milo, McKenzie, Conor, Eammon, Jacklin, Marko, Nathan all got shot down. Only Marko, Nathan and Milo survived. We all got caught it a dead end.”
They all feel sympathy just aren't showing it in the same way.
“Shit, Haze, I'm so sorry,” Phoenix answers, the sympathy is the only thing she's showing.
“Bit of a while back but everything is okay now.,” You answer. It was a crap few months you're not gonna lie. Seeing and hearing your fellow pilots getting shot down or crashing is not a sight anyone wants to see but it happens and you learned how to deal with it.
So you were right, you know how to deal with it, “Now can you explain to me why you call Jake, Bagman?”
Hangman took in the information. He added up that all the people you have just named were in the 'Stricker Crew'. The Strickers' were established seven years back after the storm in mid May.
The strongest fighters were randomly called down to a mission, completely off-grid. He heard Mav talk about this but never expected the miny Maverick to be called down there herself especially the night of their last scandal.
Hangman makes his way back down to you, beer in hand and cue in the other. “Let's see if you still got it in you.” He puts out the hand he held the cue in but instead you take the beer.
He makes pure eye contact with you as you lift the bottle up to your lavender chap sticked lips taking a sip frow the nice cool beer and never drop the eye contact with him.
His eyes were the hue of the new spring growth, bright and soft all at once. There were flecks of strength, of the kind of green that comes only as summer advances.
And you remember they were never more beautiful than when he cried, when his gentleness flowed over his cheeks, nor when he became the cocky man you came to depend on, decorated with laughter lines. Yet the soul and the eyes are ageless, and to you, so was he.
You take the bottle away from your lips handing it back over to him “Cheap….. just like you,” you smirk as his one falls, “I'll see you bright and early on Monday, Jakob. Don't be late.”
And you leave, leaving him shocked just standing there with a cue and bottle in hand watching you walk away like all those years ago.
Fanboy just casually walks over patting Hangman on the shoulder, “Like I said, I don't know if we are on her side or not but she's wow.”
To Jake, you really were wow.
A/n: And this is the second post for Haze and Hangman! Please reblog this post and give them love! Please tell me if you want to be added to the taglist and follow this blog since we're only getting started!

Quiet Girl
Just an angsty/fluffy one-shot. Pairing: Fred Weasley x !f-reader, no mentioned house, some use of Y/n.
Not requested, but I've wanted to finish this draft for a while.
Non-Cannon. Everyone is 17+
First Person and a little Third
Word count: 2.7k
Y/n-
Fred Weasley. Why was he so perfect? How could he sit there, without a care in the world, with that cheeky smirk, and simply exist?
It's unfair. I'm so perfectly average, while he's just- perfect. His eyes are such a rich pretty brown, and his hair is fiery, just like his personality. His funny, witty, and so fucking annoying, but for some reason, I don't care.
But he doesn't notice me. I'm just the quiet girl he sits next to in DADA. He copies off me sometimes, engages in small talk, and cracks jokes about the professor. But after class is over, I don't exist to him anymore.
It's difficult to like him, not because he's unlikable, that's the problem, he's too likable, so I'm basically every other girl. We all want him. He knows he's attractive, always flirting and sticking his tongue down a different girl's throat each week. George is also heavily fought after. The twins are the hottest guys in our year.
I wish he wanted more than my DADA answers. Hell, I study for the class just so we have something to converse about. I couldn't have cared less about that class until this year.
I'm currently in DADA, sitting alone since Fred is probably skipping, much to my dismay. This is the only time I can take to him. In the other classes we have together, he doesn't sit near me.
I frown down at my work, scribbling away at the warm-up Lupin has assigned. He's a great teacher, but I've just never been interested in DADA.
Suddenly, the door to the class opens, all heads turn, and two redheads stumble inside, laughing their asses off.
Internally, I shout with joy, but externally I just roll my eyes when Fred sits in the seat next to me.
"Psst, L/n, think you could spare the answers to the warm-up?" Fred asks hopefully, sending me his infamous cheeky smirk.
I roll my eyes with a sigh and slide the paper across the desk, watching him copy my answers and biting back my small smile.
Fred finished writing and slid the paper back, giving me a grateful nod and a smile. He clapped his hand on my shoulder, making my eyes go wide and my head reel back.
"Thanks, mate," He said with a smile.
He let go of my shoulder, and I slumped back in my seat, face in a grimace, cringing inwardly. He called me mate. Holy shit, I'm so far in the friend zone.
I blew air through my nose, and my face stayed in a frown the entire class. I didn't even snicker at any of his jokes. I was too grumpy. It's not like he'd like me anyway, but it still stung.
After we were dismissed, I picked up my bag and left without another word or glance at Fred. Even when he said bye to me, I just sent him a silent nod.
When I reached my dorm, I collapsed onto my bed, smashing my face into my pillow and screaming. I turned around, staring at my ceiling with a frown.
I'm his mate and not the good kind. Ugh, at least I'm better off than the other girls.
Fucking hell, I need to get over him. I know there's no point in that. He'll just loop you back in with his smile. He radiates happiness.
I hate it.
I sigh and stand up, pacing around my dorm with my arms crossed. I sit back on the edge of my bed and decide to start my homework, but not before the door bursts open.
My three roommates rush in, a blonde, and two brunettes, all giggling about something. I have friends, but I could never seem to click with my roommates.
"Oh hey, Y/n. You look deep in thought," A brunette says, glancing beside her at her friends and giggling like it was some inside joke I didn't get. Her name is Maya.
"Uh, yeah, I guess I am," I say back, feeling my face heat up. I clear my throat and shift my gaze away from them.
They continued chatting for a while. I ignored their conversation, sticking to my homework.
"Did you see Fred today? Merlin what I would do to get him in bed,"
My ears perk up at the mention of his name, and I look over at them, accidentally making eye contact with one of the girls- Amy, the blonde one, but I quickly look away.
"Y/n, do you fancy anyone?" Amy asks, authentic curiosity in her voice. Amy was always the nicest, and I knew she was being genuinely friendly, but Veronica and Maya? Not as much.
I lift my eyes, swallowing thickly before silently shaking my head, hoping they would drop the subject.
I hear a chorus of giggles, and I shift uncomfortably, suddenly insecure about myself in every way.
"I don't really believe you, L/n. Who is it? Diggory? Flint? Come on, we're your friends. You can trust us," Veronica- the second brunette reassures me, but I don't believe her.
"Uh, I'm good," I say, trying to move away from them, but Maya grabbed my arm, forcing me to stay seated.
"Is it Fred?"
My face visibly flushes, and their eyes go wide, identical grins breaking across each of their faces.
"W-What? No, I don't know what you're talking about," I stammered nervously, face still red with embarrassment. I glanced between them, my face desperate, but they didn't care.
Veronica smirked, looking at Maya and Amy. Amy's expression was confused. She cocked her head sideways.
"See you at dinner, L/n," Maya said sweetly, tugging on Amy's arm and pulling her toward the door, whispering something into her ear.
I watched them leave the room, frozen in my spot. I didn't know what they were planning, but it couldn't be good.
I shook it off, convincing myself they wouldn't do anything wrong to me. It's not like I've done anything to them. Why would they try and mess with me?
I sighed, picking up my bag and walking to the door. I hummed quietly to myself while walking to the great hall, staring at my feet and keeping my head low.
I entered the great hall, finally picking my head up and heading towards my house table, but I never made it there.
My eyes found Veronica, Maya, and Amy, but they were standing by Fred.
I froze in my tracks, my eyes widening as their conversation came into my earshot.
"Well, Y/n fancies you told us herself. She's practically obsessed," Maya said with a snarky laugh.
"Merlin, she wouldn't stop talking about how much she wants to-" I tuned out the rest of Veronica's words-lies.
My chest tightened, and my heart felt like it was about to explode. My eyes were wide with hurt, and I could feel tears stinging.
Suddenly, Amy's eyes found mine, her face paled, and her mouth hung slightly agape. She quickly grabbed Veronica's arm, nodding toward me.
Veronica, Maya, Amy, and Fred all stared at me. Fred's eyes held an unreadable emotion. I felt nauseous. Bile rose in my stomach, and I quickly took a step back, knocking into someone, but I didn't care. I needed to get away from them.
I turned on my heels and ran, no, sprinted out of the great hall, tears blurring my vision. I wanted nothing more, than for someone to shoot me between the eyes.
- About a half hour earlier.
Fred-
"You called her your mate?" George asked, bursting into laughter and falling back on his bed.
"I didn't know what else to say!" Fred fired back defensively, his cheeks tinting red.
"You don't call the girl you fancy, mate, you muppet," George stated, shaking his head with an eye roll.
"Well, it's not like she fancies me. She's completely disinterested in me and shows no sign of even tolerating me," Fred sighed, sitting on his bed and running a hand through his hair.
"It can be like that with some girls," George assures his twin. Fred shook his head, biting his cheek and crossing his arms.
"She doesn't laugh at my jokes, won't look at me, rolls her eyes at everything I do. I think she's smiled at me maybe once," Fred muttered, shaking his head again.
"L/n doesn't smile, ever. And I've seen her smile at you, so extra points for Freddie," George snickers, earning a pillow launched at him by Fred.
"Why don't you just grow a pair and ask her out?"
"I'm nervous, Georgie. I've never felt this way about a girl before. I don't want to lose her, and if she rejects me, I'll never even get to talk to her again," Fred says with an exasperated sigh, his face falling into his hands.
"Man, you're whipped," George spoke with a breathy laugh, clapping his brother on the shoulder.
"Fucking hell," Fred mumbled, continuing to vent and ask George for advice the whole way down to dinner.
Once the twins reached the great hall and started toward the Gryffindor table, Fred was corraled by three girls.
He vaguely recognized them, Veronica, Maya, and Amy. Maya and Veronica had tried to sleep with him many times.
"Hey, Freddie," Veronica said with a sweet smile, placing her hand on his arm.
Fred remained unphased, but he carefully removed his arm from her grasp.
"Do you know who Y/n L/n is?" Maya asked, smiling at him and totaling her head sideways.
Fred's heart skipped a beat at the mention of her name, he quickly cleared his throat, shifting on his feet and rubbing the back of his neck.
"Yeah, I sit next to her in Lupin's," Fred said, looking between the girls wearily. He'd never seen Y/n talking with them.
Amy tugged on Maya's sleeve, whispering something in her ear and trying to pull her away from Fred.
"Shove off, Amy!" Veronica hissed, making Amy stop, hanging her head low.
Fred furrowed his brows, about to defend Amy when Maya's words completely derailed him.
"Well, Y/n fancies you told us herself. She's practically obsessed," Maya said, laughing snarkily and glancing at Veronica, who had an equally sardonic expression.
"Merlin, she wouldn't stop talking about how much she wants to fuck you," Veronica added, making Fred's eyes go wide. His blood boiled in his veins. He angrily clenched his fists. He knew her words were lies made up to put Y/n down, and he hated it.
"Veronica!" Amy quietly hissed, nodding toward someone. Fred looked over, and his heart dropped.
There she was, standing with her bag over her shoulder, her eyes wide, a pained expression on her face. She looked as though she was about to be sick.
Fred didn't know what to say, his mouth was dry, and his head spun with anger.
He watched her back away, then spin on her heel and run.
"Y/n!" He called starting to go after her when someone caught his arm again.
"What are you doing? She's a weirdo! A loser-" Veronica started to say, but Fred harshly cut her off.
"Shut your fucking mouth before I rip out your tongue!" He almost shouted, ripping himself away from her and running out of the great hall, ignoring the whispers.
Fred ran as fast as he could, looking left and right down the hallway, trying to spot her. He cursed when he couldn't spot her. He was starting to panic.
"She's probably at the lake,"
Fred whipped around, scowling down at Amy, narrowing his eyes, and opening his mouth to start going off on her.
"I tried to stop them, I really did, but they're my only friends. I know that doesn't excuse anything. I'm sorry I couldn't do more to stop them, but Y/n goes there to read. I've seen it," Amy says, toying with her fingers and avoiding Fred's eyes.
Fred's expression softened slightly, and he sighed, rubbing his jaw. He didn't know why, but he believed her. Amy was just a lonely girl who made friends with the wrong people.
"Find new friends," Was all he said before he walked past Amy picking up his pace.
Amy sighed, rubbing up and down her arms. She looked at the floor and swallowed, starting to walk back inside when she bumped into George.
-
Y/n-
I couldn't breathe. The tears wouldn't stop. I heaved, gasping between broken sobs, my head in my hands as I cried my heart out.
I sobbed heavily, lifting my eyes momentarily to look out over the lake, sniffling before more sobs escaped my lips.
He'd never look at me the same. He thinks I'm some weird stalker and that I'm obsessed with him. Why would they tell him? What have I done to them?
I'll never show my face again. I'll dig myself a grave and fling myself off the astronomy tower. Hopefully, I'll land inside it.
I tucked my knees to my chest, resting my chin atop them, tears still pouring from my eyes.
"Y/n?"
I quickly turned, my eyes widened momentarily, but I just closed them, resting my head back on my knees.
-
Third Person-
"Go on, tell me how much of a fucking loser I am, that I'm weird, and you'd never fancy someone like me," She said through sobs, her voice cracking.
Fred's eyes went wide. He completely crumbled when he saw her cry. He wished he could take away her pain. Absorb it all just so he could see one of her rare smiles.
"No, no, Y/n, fuck Veronica and Maya are idiots, mongrels. They don't amount to even half of the person you are," Fred said, sitting next to Y/n, his hand going to her chin, tilting her face toward him.
Y/n's eyes went wide, and her head reeled back out of instinct and surprise. Fred swallowed, pulling his hand away.
Y/n blinked at him, reaching up to wipe her eyes. She cleared her throat, looking at the ground and sniffling.
"They were lying," She spoke quietly, running her hands over her arms comfortingly.
There was a pang in Fred's heart. He assumed they were lying, but it still hurt to know the truth. That she didn't fancy him as he did her.
"I thought so," He said, rubbing his neck anxiously.
"I'm not a weirdo. I didn't talk about how much I wanted to fuck you. I swear! I'm not-" Y/n started, but Fred cut her off.
"You shouldn't be defensive. They're the fuckers who should be apologizingly. It's fine that you don't fancy me," Fred said with a small pained smile, trying to hide his disappointment.
-
Y/n-
I turned my head to look at him, furrowing my brows and tilting my head. Was he this dense? It didn't matter anyway. He doesn't like me.
"Fred, they didn't lie about that part," I said quietly, clearing my throat and keeping my eyes on the ground. From the corner of my eye, I swear I saw his head shoot up and his eyes widen.
"I'm gonna go-" I started to say, wiping my eyes again and standing up, but Fred grabbed my wrist as I stood, keeping me from walking away.
Fred stood up, looking at me intensely, his mouth was open, but he said nothing.
"Fuck it," He finally muttered, leaning forward and pressing his lips against mine, briefly kissing me.
He pulled back, his adam's apple bobbing in his throat. He stepped away from me, probably because of the shocked expression on my face.
"Sorry, I-"
I didn't let him finish his sentence. I grabbed his tie, pulling him down and crashing our lips together. He didn't hesitate, kissing me back with equal, if not more passion.
He cupped my cheek, deepening the kiss. He tasted better than I'd dreamed, and his lips were so soft.
When we finally broke apart. I scoffed sarcastically, crossing my arms over my chest. Fred furrowed his brows.
"Why the hell would you call me your mate?"
Fred closed his eyes, sighing in what I think is relief.
"I thought you were about to slap me," He said with a laugh, smiling that cheeky smirk.
"I'm thinking about it,"
"Can I kiss you again?" He asks, eyes flickering to my lips. I smiled, stepping closer to him, keeping our eyes connected.
"Be my guest,"
